All the HSR I know is second-hand, but @therosefrontier 's long oneshot fic, live for tomorrow (let the past dissolve like sand), is living in my brain and gripping me by the throat so obviously I had to make a reaction meme for how that Sunset Savana homecoming was going to go.

Rip Neji and, and probably the rest of the palace staff and maybe Farena, for the absolute heart attack they're going to get when Leona "makes pretending like he doesn't have a heart an olympic sport" Kingscholar comes home with a traumatized kid. Anyway I can't wait for Dan Heng to be loved and fed well and exposed to sunlight, etc etc. Luckily for him I imagine Neji will immediately start the care routines while strangling Leona when Dan Heng isn't looking.

The transition in Paul's attitude from 66' to 67' freaks me out a little and I think should be talked about more. In 66' he's full on ready for independence and spouting off in magazines like ''I'm my own person, I want to grow up, do my own thing, maybe only work with the Beatles when we feel the need to'' etc. Contrast that to 67' and he's full-blown May Queen from Midsommar "Leaving? Why would you say that?? I'm staying forever and ever and ever with the Beatles, financially handcuffing ourselves to each other just feels good y'know, so what if I'm psychically fused with John whats the big deal?" enmeshed. Sure he's got Jane but even she leaves partially because Paul's first and foremost part of the four-headed monster.

Like Paul, what happened??? Did they lock you in a room clockwork orange style with a shit ton of LSD and the Beatles cartoon? Did John sneak into your room at night and start playing a menacing arrangement of the Beach Boys at a subliminal frequency? Did you get spooked by independence and taxes and run back to the loving embrace of the emotional polycule? It frankly makes the LSD peer pressure thing come across as vaguely sinister/j.

The Beatles don't get enough credit for being the weird microcosm of in-group/out-group pack mentality behaviour that those little freaks were. Seriously, it should be studied.

She hears him calling her name as she flees down the spiral staircase, almost tripping over her feet in her rush to get away from him, but he catches up quickly, reaching out to grab her arm in an attempt to slow her down. She stops running immediately - she supposes her traitorous body wants to see what he has to say, or maybe it just wants to bask in his intoxicating proximity. He crowds her space, and she sees that unfamiliar look in his eyes again. So very different from the cold disdain she had seen the last time she had been this close to him, during the argument that had ended their friendship.

Oh, Merlin, he's getting closer to her, and she can now clearly see the freckles dusting his cheeks and nose and forehead and then before she knows it, his hand is sliding up her arm, leaving goosebumps everywhere he touches and then he's caressing her jaw with his rough thumb and he pauses. Her eyelids flutter closed as her head tilts towards him - she couldn't stop herself even if she wanted to (what does she want?). She can feel his warm breath ghosting over her lips and she has the improbable, ridiculous thought - how is he remembering to breathe? - before he speaks. His lips brush against hers with every soft word and a deep shiver runs through her body.

"I," she hears him say, his voice so, so low, "haven't been able to think since last week."

That's all she needs to hear, the brush of his bottom lip against hers all she needs to feel, to push her into closing what minuscule distance there is between them and then his lips are on hers and it's better than anything she's been imagining. His mouth is soft against hers, insistent, and her hands go up to grip the collar of his plaid jacket to make sure he doesn't go away or disappear on her.

I sat on these for a while bc I kept not being totally sold on the designs yet and they were still kind of sloppy (tho the Shak one was more recent), but gonna share anyway! Designs might still change a bit.

There's a part in the AU where they all p much get mer forms with using a temporary spell in order to visit a mer city for some specific information! Always loved stuff like that when it'd come up in media. Not sure if Hoagie will have another form or just be in a magic bubble still... Daniel is here too, but he's just in his amphibeast form then. I take inspiration from different sea life for the merpeople designs and aren't stuck to one thing while still usually sticking to some shared traits. Shak has a tail separate from her legs bc she had a variant spell to lessen the transformation bc she was scared about transforming so differently (tho who can blame her when all her close loved ones have ALL had traumatic TF happen to them!). The merpeople don't usually have hair or non-scaly skin, but air breathers will still keep some features from before and so they look a bit more distinct from true merfolk.

I use Spine (professional version)! I'm pretty sure it's the same program the Twst devs use for the chibis; I decided to try reverse-engineering 'em basically because my license was just sitting around gathering dust, and I thought it'd be fun practice (this was before I tried to rig Meleanor's cape). it is an industry-standard program and, unfortunately, is priced accordingly, so it's a bit expensive if you're not planning on using it professionally -- there is a free trial, though I think you can't save/export anything in it? BUT it is truly excellent and can do a ton of super cool stuff, plus is genuinely just fun to mess around in, so I 10000% recommend it to anyone who is serious about getting into 2D rigging!

...I did? well, that's strange

really wanted to draw a solid expression or two and strangely wanted to do the guy who doesn't. have a face. so i did a panel redraw!!! (there's just so many moments in this comic where the feelings leaking out from him and what we see is just so POTENT and i AUGH!!! please please please go read The Property of Hate it is such a wonderful comic it will make you explode on the inside. i promise you will come out of it completely normal <- lying)

The problem with a lot of traffic life interpretations in my opinion is they don't understand character foils or don't employ them in their writing. Grian-Martyn and Scar-Ren are genuinely pretty good character foils for a series that is not really scripted or planned out like a book is. I could go on and on about how they parallel each other and the similarities between them. Even the smaller details between the four usually match up
