⸻ until dawn halloween headcanons!
in honor of halloween here's a halloween-themed headcanon set for each until dawn character.
samantha giddings.
sam chooses a diy nature-inspired costume like a woodland fairy, using biodegradable glitter and repurposed fabrics. think leaves, twigs, and soft, earthy greens.
she insists on going to a local pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin and spends hours carving designs.
while the others plan for parties, she hosts a low-key gathering with candles, cozy blankets, and homemade pumpkin spice lattes.
loves classic horror but gets super into psychological thrillers. hereditary is her top pick, and she’s the one pointing out foreshadowing before everyone else catches it. josh washington.
josh goes all-out building a haunted maze in his backyard, complete with hidden speakers, fake cobwebs, and scare actors he hires just to freak his friends out.
dresses as something horrifying, like a blood-streaked serial killer. full commitment to fake blood and smudged makeup.
has a camera ready to capture each friend’s reaction when they’re scared out of their minds. keeps a scare montage video just for fun.
he's surprisingly good at carving pumpkins, but his designs are intricate horror scenes, almost like horror movie posters in pumpkin form.
ends halloween by watching obscure, disturbing horror movies that leave everyone else uncomfortable. mike munroe.
shows up dressed as a suave vampire or some other classic monster, aiming to look cool and a little dangerous.
takes his friends to a haunted corn maze and enjoys it way more than he lets on, constantly teasing the jump-scare actors and testing his bravery.
organizes a frat party bonfire in the woods with s’mores and ghost stories. he’s the one lighting sparklers and throwing on extra wood to make the flames bigger, he drinks to much and forgets he's the host of the party.
pulls classic halloween pranks, from fake spider webs to jumping out of dark corners. the type to keep a scary mask in his bag just to mess with people.
after a few drinks, he’s belting out rocky horror picture show songs around the bonfire with zero shame.
jessica riley.
jessica’s costume is elaborate, trendy, and slightly dark, like a glamorous vampire or a witch in haute couture. she’s all about looking spooky-chic, she went shopping early for the best costume.
stays in to watch mean girls with a couple of her girl friends referencing every qoute.
spends half of halloween snapping aesthetic photos of her outfit, snacks, and décor, making everything look flawless.
gets her halloween nails done a week before and flaunts them on her social media platforms.
matt taylor.
he’s the guy bringing pumpkin spice lattes and fall-flavored treats for everyone, unapologetically embracing the season.
suggests doing a couples costume with emily, probably as a famous horror duo. secretly excited about how they’ll look in photos together.
convinces emily(and maybe the whole group) to go on a haunted hayride, keeping a brave face while sneaking glances to see if she’s scared.
volunteers to help with halloween décor, placing spider webs and fake spiders around. he’s got a collection of led bats and ghost lights.
emily davis.
dresses as a chic witch, complete with a designer hat, intricate lace gloves, and knee-high boots. halloween is just another reason to look flawless.
sets up a dark, enchanted photo booth with crystal balls, black roses, and velvet. her instagram feed is a whole halloween masterpiece.
makes sure to get billions of stunning couples photos with matt, each one more perfect than the last. their matching costumes and chemistry are on point, making everyone else a bit envious (and they know it).
emily hosts a halloween themed sleep over with velvet pillows, and black satin sheets for an ultra-cozy but gothic sleepover vibe. the girls chat and laugh till they fall asleep, each secretly keeping one eye open.
chris hartley.
dresses as a ghostbuster or some iconic horror nerd costume, complete with all the gadgets. he’s fully committed to the nostalgia factor.
brings his gear and talks about doing a "ghost hunt." sets up his phone to record “paranormal” activity around the bonfire.
insists on watching horror classics with everyone, pausing every now and then to geek out about the movie effects or the backstory.
after everyone else goes to bed, chris and ashley stay up playing with the ouija board, half-joking but also half-believing they might make contact. they end up spooking themselves and get so scared swearing to never use it again.
ashley brown.
dresses as a character from classic gothic literature, like mina harker from dracula, complete with vintage lace and dark, dramatic makeup.
she knits little ghost ornaments and diys her own creepy decor, like mason jars filled with “witch’s brew” and spiderweb doilies.
loves telling ghost stories, candle in hand, with just the right amount of dramatic pauses and eerie expressions.
ashley, catching her breath and laughing nervously, gives chris a playful whack on the arm for scaring her so bad. “not cool, chris!” she says, but she’s grinning as he pulls off the mask, clearly proud of his successful prank.
insists on having a stash of halloween candy just for herself. she’s all about chocolate, especially reese’s and kit kats, and jokingly guards her stash from the others, even hiding a few extras in her bag.
hannah and beth washington.
hannah and beth take turns posing in different eerie setups around the cabin, snapping dramatic photos of each other in candlelight, near fog machines, and with props like antique lanterns. they especially love capturing a few shots that look like something out of an old haunted portrait.
both love the idea of exploring the mountain at night, so they plan a late-night “ghost hunt” under the full moon. they bring flashlights and spooky stories to tell along the way, daring each other to walk just a little bit farther into the woods.
beth and hannah sneak into the room with a giant rubber spider and place it right on josh’s chest. when he stirs and opens his eyes to find it staring back at him, he lets out a yell that has the girls stifling laughter from behind the door.
they have a slight obsession with candy corn and will spend halloween night indulging in it, trading their favorite types of candy and making candy corn-themed treats, like popcorn balls or cupcakes.

Mabon Celebration Ideas!
As some of you know, this Saturday is Mabon, the celebration of the Autumn Equinox. Some also refer to it as the "Pagan Thanksgiving", as you celebrate the bountiful harvest and are thankful for the earth and its many gifts.
Mabon marks the time of equilibrium, where the days and nights are of equal length. During this time, it is good to set intentions that involve decrease, such as ending unhealthy habits, self-destructive behaviors, or bad relationships.
Decorating for Autumn
This a great time to decorate for the coming autumn and spooky seasons leading up to Samhain! I like to open the windows and then cleanse my space(usually a simmer pot and smoke cleanse) and after, i actually physically clean the house.I then close the windows and stir my simmer pot, while setting new intentions for the household until the spring equinox. I then collect the things I want to decorate with(the usual fall decor; pumpkins, pine cones, leaf garlands, gourds and an autumn wreath on the door) and then decorate to my hearts content!
Release and Move Forward
Another thing I usually spend time on is meditation, centering myself, letting go of past baggage from the year and setting new personal goals and intentions until spring.
Find a nice spot outside, where you feel connected to the world around you. Take a journal with you, and meditate. Write down what you want the next few months to bring into your life. Set those intentions in any way you choose.
Have a nice Hearty Meal
Who doesn't love a good meal with great people? You can make a roast, hold a potluck Mabon dinner ect, I usually host a bonfire night and everyone brings their own dishes to feel the group. During covid, I made a pot roast for my fiance and I! You could also do a picnic!
Fall Activities
Apple Picking, Corn Mazes, going to a Pumpkin Patch, all fall activities that are fun for the whole family, as a cute date, or great solo fun!
Honor Persephone and Demeter
If you are one to honor deities/spirits during the holidays, Persephone and Demeter are two that will definitely fall into Mabon.
According to the myth, Autumn is the time where Persephone must leave her beloved mother and travel to Hades, to fulfill her role as the Queen of the Underworld. Each year she lets go of the concerns of the upper world, and willingly descends to guide the souls of the dead over the threshold of Life and Death.
Creating an altar, and leaving offerings for them in honor of their sacrifice is an amazing way to celebrate.
Other
Other things you can do include cleansing ritual baths, Divination for the new few months, hiking, offerings for the local nature spirits, make a gratitude list for the last few months and thank the earth for her gifts
Mabon Symbols:
Cornucopia (horn of plenty), pinecones, seeds
Colors: Orange, red, yellow, brown, copper, dark yellow, dark green
Foods: Corn, beans, squash, apples, pumpkins, cider, root vegetables, pomegranate, wine
Herbs: Yarrow, rosemary, sage, mugwort, rosehips,
Stones: Amber, citrine, cat’s eye, aventurine, sapphire, jasper
Flowers: Sunflowers, thistle, marigolds
Deities: Mabon, Green Man, Demeter, Persephone, Morgan, Pomona, Inanna
Animals: Owl, stag, blackbird, salmon
I hope this gives you a few ideas! Add your own ideas to this list! These are just the ways I like to celebrate!

trick-or-treat - happy halloween 2023!
happy halloween!
this year, i'd like to celebrate by opening up the ask box for 48 hours to trick-or-treaters of all kinds! participants will get drabbles from the eligible fandoms per their request. the rules, time frame, and details of this event will be explained below.
🎃 RULES: 🎃
you gotta say trick or treat in the ask. it's halloween. you gotta do the halloween thing if you want candy. i don't care if you think it's cringe
this event OPENS october 30th at midnight and CLOSES at midnight on november 1st. that is 48 whole hours. i will not be accepting requests before or after then-- please don't miss the deadlines! i will announce when they open and warn when they're about to close.
requests will be completed as soon as i can comfortably get them all out. if this event gets busy, that will probably trickle into november.
all scenarios range from fluffy to suggestive, generally in the realm of x gn!reader or just character-centered drabbles. please do not expect massive pieces for this event! they are fun-sized blurbs.
there are no limitations on how many requests you can send in, however, please understand i am simply one writer. if you spam me i'll cry. but if you have two different characters you want to request or you're interested in a trick and a treat-- feel free! just remember requests MUST fall within the deadlines or they will not be considered.
there are two request options: trick or treat.
🍂 FANDOMS ELIGIBLE FOR REQUEST: 🍂
obey me! and obey me! nightbringer (all canon characters; i will say my writing with the side characters is a little shaky)
collar x malice (main five love interests, no side characters)
new!: twisted wonderland (all main characters/students at nrc, no staff/rsa students/side characters) (this is me soft-launching my upcoming twst writing hehe)
👻 TRICK (AKA DEALER'S CHOICE) 👻
you request a fandom, and i get to write a drabble of whatever i want. 😈
any character i write for, any topic. this is where i get to have fun.
you could get something seasonal, something romantic, something completely unexpected. it's a roll of the dice, and that's the fun of the trick.
example request: trick or treat! can i get a trick for obey me? thank you!
🍬 TREAT (AKA YOUR CHOICE) 🍬
you request a fandom, a character, and a seasonal topic/prompt for the drabble. can be fall-themed, halloween-y, generally seasonal, etc. if you have a preference, it would be wise to include platonic or romantic and if you want the reader involved.
examples of prompts include: ghost stories, trick-or-treating, bonfires, sweaters, halloween, candy apples, costume contest, hayrides, seasonal decorating, corn mazes, etc etc etc. this list is non-exhaustive inspiration for your requests.
example request: trick or treat! can i get a treat of pumpkin carving with malleus and reader from twst? platonic or romantic is fine. thank you!
i will see you when the event opens october 30th at midnight! happy halloween-- have a safe holiday and support your local creatives' events for the halloweekend!

Eddie's Education: Chapter 7
Minors DNI
Masterlist link
Chapter 7
Early October descended on Hawkins with a chill in the air as hints of orange and red peeked out from the foliage, promising a riot of color soon. This was Leia's favorite time of year, and it cheered her up to see the grinning faces of more and more jack-o-lanterns popping up on front porches each day she walked past.
The smell of bonfires, the caramelized sugary aroma of toasted marshmallows, and the sharp scent of crisp apples wafted around her as she strode down the lanes and side streets to and from work. It occurred to her that, though she would never drive again, she rather enjoyed the view of the world as one walked. It was slower, more physical, more contemplative. She liked to observe and thought best on her feet while trudging the anxiety out of her muscles.
From the sidewalk she could hear laughter from backyard parties. Costumed keggers and barbecues, football games, farmers' markets, charming haunted houses, and corn mazes made their appearances and she was beginning to feel her old itch for the seasonal fun. She liked these events (well, except for the football games) and had forgot this about herself during her time with Sam. Leia fished through her mind, searching for other joys she had forgotten, finding all kinds of things; horror movies, and dance lessons, and drawing, and museums visits, and comic books. How had she forgotten so much about herself...about who she is and what she wanted?”
Suddenly, in the torrent of recollection, she remembered that she used to love hiking and exploring abandoned buildings. She loved the exhilaration of trudging through the woods, or long abandoned places and had yet to explore the forested or forgotten Indiana trails. She wondered if Eddie liked hiking (or at least getting high in the woods) as much as she did. Down girl, she warned herself, you don't stand a chance with him.
But she really, really, wished she did, and today as her feet traversed the pavement she found herself vacillating in that ever-present argument with herself. Every time she considered that soon Eddie would get his GED and no longer be a student, theoretically allowing her to move closer, something would pipe up from other parts of her mind.
Well what if he wants to come back and get his associate's? Then I might even be his instructor and that would be so so wrong.
What makes you think he would like you anyway? If he did, wouldn't he have made a move already?
The more negative these sentences became, the more they sounded like Sam. She sighed as she thought about her ex. Leia could almost see him adjusting his retro glasses as he looked down his nose at her. She remembered his clipped voice as it said, “How far do you really think you can get here? You'd have a better chance in Hawkins, anyway. Compared to the locals you'd seem like an intellectual giant. It'd be easy.”
She'd said, “Sam! That's a fucked up thing to say! Just because it's a small town doesn't mean everyone's a hillbilly and an idiot...and what do you mean 'seem'.” She crossed her arms and frowned.
He ran an agitated hand through his pretty mop of glossy red hair, as if her words were flies he could shoo off with flicks of his fingers. He was always vain about his rare hair, and his striking green eyes, and his delicate elvish features, but pretended very hard not to be. “Come on, Leia. It's not my job to bolster your fragile ego. We both know you're not stupid, but you're not Einstein. Don't give me that look! We need to be mature about critiques. We have a more evolved relationship than these people who throw flowers and candy at each other and pretend like the other person is some kind of god or goddess. Relentless honesty is best, even when it hurts,” he declared proudly, flipping pages as he talked to her, not even bothering to meet her eyes. She couldn't help but notice how this constant nitpicking only ever seemed to go one way in their relationship.
“Save it for your paper on Hemingway, or when you're jerking off to Bukowski or some other dead pretentious asshole,” she said in a tone teetering between playful sarcasm and genuine anger.
“Ouch...jealous, are we?” he'd asked with a disarming smile, as if it had all been a joke she was just a bit too dim to see the humor in. Sam Huxley had convinced her that she had no right to be hurt, so she pretended not to be and laughed it off with him. Being with Sam had taught her keep the pain to herself and nurse the wounds he inflicted in silence, to not show weakness or need. He praised her practiced stoic nonchalance after he would mercilessly pull apart her thesis, or her body, or her hobbies, or her tastes. It was the only time he ever praised her. She mastered this controlled response, eventually training herself to stop feeling anything about it at all, or having any preferences, because his came first. And she hardly came at all. Her family just thought he was “making her stronger” and liked him for it. They recognized their own impossible expectations for her in his, so it felt right and reinforced their every belief.
When he'd suddenly broken up with her and told her he was staying in Chicago, with no preamble or warning, she cried in front of him for the first time. He responded angrily, snipping out, “Why do you have to cause a scene and try to make me feel bad, as if I've done something wrong? If a man wants to be great he cannot be weighed down by these foolish traditional constructs. I have so much further to go still, Leia. I know you're smart enough to see that, right? I can't waste my potential with you hanging on my arm.”
She had only nodded. Sniffing her tears away brusquely, she immediately began packing. As she sorted the accumulated evidence of her life over the last 5 years, it felt as if she was packing someone else's things. Leia wasn't sure who this person was. There were only meager scraps of evidence among her belongings indicating what she actually liked and wanted in life; long-unworn dance shoes, an abandoned sketchbook, snapshots from forest hikes...things that were a part of who she was before Sam remade her, Pygmalion-style into what he could tolerate...but apparently couldn't anymore.
Those things were so few, so small, and buried like corpses in the bottom of her drawers. Here lies my dead ambitions, she thought with a smirk through her tears. In the collection she discovered an antique photograph of her great-aunt and namesake; the original Violetta Vespero. Her dark eyes burned like coals as she stood in a black halo of thick hair, rebellion blazing and coloring her expression even through the drab grayscale. She had been a suffragette, an Italian aristocrat turned fiercely independent and decidedly socialist. She never wanted children and never had them, insisting on a scholarly career in a world of people telling her she couldn't. Leia sighed, wishing she believed in some kind of spirituality, wishing she could call upon her like a patron saint of feminism to help her through this.
What would she think of me? A weak woman who did whatever a man said for 5 years and then was thrown out like an old pair of shoes? She'd probably be disappointed, just like everyone else in this family.
By May, she found herself standing in her empty new apartment in Hawkins with just a few moving boxes, packed with the little pieces of herself, to keep her company. She let out a long sigh, staring at the empty room. Digging out the photograph of Violetta she whispered to it, “blank slate,”as she placed it reverently on the table.
----
Eddie walked down the basement hall of Hawkins community college coming from his science class, when he heard a familiar low sweet voice reading aloud. He felt a little jolt of giddiness when he realized this must be her English class. He'd never seen her teaching in her element before so he risked peeking in, hoping he wouldn't disturb her.
The lights were out except for some fake candles on the floor with paper decorations around it to make it resemble a campfire. All the students were sitting cross-legged around it. Eddie would think that these adults would be rebellious and resistant, or at least take a nap in the darkness, but in the dim light he could see all eyes were on her as she read with a flashlight. He grinned so hard his cheeks hurt. It was amazing that she could do this; convince grown-ups to enjoy ghost stories by the campfire like little kids, determined to make it a game.
Legs crossed and pumps discarded behind her, she read from The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson:
Eleanor looked up, surprised; the little girl was sliding back in her chair, sullenly refusing her milk, while her father frowned and her brother giggled and her mother said calmly, 'She wants her cup of stars.' Indeed yes, Eleanor thought; indeed, so do I; a cup of stars, of course. 'Her little cup,' the mother was explaining, smiling apologetically at the waitress, who was thunderstruck at the thought that the mill's good country milk was not rich enough for the little girl. 'It has stars in the bottom, and she always drinks her milk from it at home. She calls it her cup of stars because she can see the stars while she drinks her milk.' The waitress nodded, unconvinced, and the mother told the little girl, 'You'll have your milk from your cup of stars tonight when we get home. But just for now, just to be a very good little girl, will you take a little milk from this glass?' Don't do it, Eleanor told the little girl; insist on your cup of stars; once they have trapped you into being like everyone else you will never see your cup of stars again; don't do it; and the little girl glanced at her, and smiled a little subtle, dimpling, wholly comprehending smile, and shook her head stubbornly at the glass. Brave girl, Eleanor thought; wise, brave girl.”
Leia closed the book, marking her page, and passed the reading flashlight to the student next to her saying, “Okay, before we read further, what do you think this means?”
Hands went up, and she picked one. “I think...I think it's about not letting people walk all over you and saying what you want. Like Eleanor was shit on her whole life, you know, and now she's finally putting her foot down and doing what she wants.”
“Great interpretation, Frank. Thank you. Anyone else have thoughts about that?”
Eddie watched, smitten, warm eyes full of pride and admiration. In the darkness she hadn't seen him, which he was glad for, sliding back out as quietly as he had peeked in.
Yeah, Leia, don't let them take your cup of stars, Eddie thought as he walked on. You deserve the whole sky, sweetheart.

Down on the Farm: Where to Host Your Next Birthday Party Nearby
Celebrating birthdays is a cherished tradition, and finding the perfect venue can elevate the experience for both hosts and guests. In recent years, there has been a rising trend in hosting birthday parties at farms, offering a departure from traditional venues and adding a rustic charm to the celebrations. The appeal of a farm birthday party lies in the unique blend of natural surroundings, outdoor activities, and a laid-back atmosphere. In this exploration, we delve into the charm of farm birthday parties, uncovering why they have become an appealing choice for individuals seeking a distinctive and memorable way to celebrate their special day.
Embracing Rustic Charm
Farm birthday parties bring an authentic and rustic charm that sets them apart from conventional venues. The backdrop of a working farm, with barns, fields, and open spaces, creates a unique and visually appealing setting. The simplicity and authenticity of the surroundings provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, making guests feel like they've stepped into a tranquil countryside retreat.
The rustic charm extends beyond the scenery to the venues themselves. Many farm spaces boast barns with exposed wooden beams, adding to the overall ambiance. The combination of natural elements and country aesthetics contributes to a celebration that feels grounded and genuine, providing a refreshing break from the ordinary.
Outdoor Adventures and Activities
One of the highlights of farm birthday parties is the array of outdoor activities available. From hayrides and petting zoos to pony rides and corn mazes, farms offer a diverse range of entertainment options that cater to guests of all ages. These activities not only add an element of fun but also create lasting memories for both the birthday celebrant and their guests.
The opportunity to engage in outdoor adventures allows guests to connect with nature and enjoy the beauty of the farm setting. Whether it's a scavenger hunt through the fields or a leisurely stroll around the property, farm birthday parties encourage a sense of exploration and play, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved.
Farm-to-Table Dining Experience
Farm birthday parties often feature a farm-to-table dining experience, adding a culinary dimension to the celebration. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients contribute to a delicious and wholesome menu that reflects the farm's agricultural offerings. Guests can savor the flavors of the season, enjoying dishes made from produce grown right on the premises.
The farm-to-table approach not only provides a unique dining experience but also aligns with the growing trend of supporting local agriculture and sustainability. It adds a thoughtful touch to the celebration, allowing guests to appreciate the connection between the food they enjoy and the farm's bountiful surroundings.
Customization and Flexibility
One of the key advantages of hosting a birthday party on a farm is the flexibility and customization it offers. The expansive outdoor spaces provide a blank canvas for creative event planning. From themed decorations that embrace the farm setting to personalized activities and entertainment, the options are virtually limitless.
Individuals can tailor the celebration to match their preferences and the interests of the birthday celebrant. Whether it's setting up a cozy picnic area, arranging a bonfire for a night of stargazing, or incorporating farm animals into the festivities, the ability to customize the event ensures a unique and memorable birthday experience.
Community Connection and Intimacy
Farm birthday parties often create a more intimate and community-oriented atmosphere compared to hosting events in larger, more traditional venues. The close-knit setting of a farm fosters a sense of togetherness among guests, allowing for meaningful interactions and shared experiences.
The communal aspect extends to activities like group games, communal dining, and collaborative efforts in various farm-based activities. This creates a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, making guests feel like they are part of a special gathering rather than just attendees at a birthday party.
Conclusion: A Rustic Celebration to Remember
In the pursuit of the perfect birthday celebration, hosting it down on the farm offers a unique and unforgettable experience. The rustic charm, outdoor adventures, farm-to-table dining, customization options, and the sense of community make farm birthday parties an appealing choice for those seeking a departure from the conventional.
As individuals increasingly seek meaningful and memorable ways to celebrate special occasions, the allure of farm birthday parties remains strong. Choosing a farm as the venue for your next birthday celebration promises a day filled with charm, adventure, and connection—a rustic celebration to be remembered fondly for years to come. In the realm of farm birthdays, the combination of nature's beauty and the simplicity of the countryside creates a truly special and authentic atmosphere for marking another year of life's journey.

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to post this because I just got back from hanging out with some friends and we went to a corn maze and then had a bonfire and, to make a long story short, I am crazy high on sugar right now!
It’s the weirdest feeling and I honestly wonder if sugar should be considered a drug because I haven’t been able to calm down or stop talking since I got back. What happened was I hadn’t eaten much today, just eggs and sausages at a late breakfast, and then I left to go to the corn maze with my friends. After about an hour walking around the maze (we made it all the way to the end without using the emergency exit, yay!) we went to the snack bar. All they really had was ice cream and funnel cake and I was really hungry so I got funnel cake with ice cream on it and it was so flipping good! I can’t even remember the last time I had funnel cake or soft serve ice cream and it was just great!
Then we went to one of my friend’s farm and we had a bonfire and toasted marshmallows and made smores and I couldn’t stop because I hadn’t had a single smore all summer and I was pumped for this chance! So we sat around and talked and made more smores and talked and I pondered on the insignificance of humanity in the face of the infinite cosmos above us and then I got on the road and headed home.
I wanted to kind of tease my dad by mentioning how much sugar I ate and that I would play being sugar-high. But, the moment I opened my mouth, I couldn’t stop talking and I realized how much energy I had and how good I’ve been feeling and I haven’t even been able to stop talking or vibrating even when I’m alone. My dad told me to eat some toast and drink a lot of water. He said I’m probably going to have a hangover tomorrow because sugar works a lot like alcohol. So far, though, I just feel great and I just have to ask if any of you have ever had a sugar high like this because this is honestly just the best I’ve felt in days, because I haven’t been sleeping well, lately, and I suddenly have all this energy and I feel like I can run a marathon right now.
Anyway, just wanted to get this out there before I inevitably get that sugar-crash. If you’re wondering why this post is so coherent for someone who’s high, I would like to point out I have had to retype a lot of this in the course of my fingers flying across the keyboard and I really didn’t know I could type this fast. But I ‘ve talked too much, so, goodnight, everyone!

Dark Autumnal Prompts
Please credit this blog if you use any prompts.
You get lost in a corn maze and meet an overly helpful stranger.
You find something most unexpected behind the curtain at the local fair.
After a first date of apple picking, you find the orchard is rather sinister after dark.
A fun afternoon making jack-o-lanterns ends with a carving knife to your throat.
A romantic hayride turns into a kidnapping.
After a long day of making jam, you gift your overly curious neighbour a jar, an unintended act of encouragement.
You don’t notice the stranger watching you from beneath the pile of freshly raked leaves.
A costume party sees you leaving with the wrong date.
You receive a scented candle as a gift, not realising it’s laced with more than wax.
You don’t notice the stranger following you around the farmer’s market.
A bonfire ends in a drunken disaster.
You indulge in some unknowingly spiked hot chocolate.
A full moon brings out unexpected behaviour.
You get trapped on a ferris wheel with a handsy date.
An autumnal hike turns into a rampant chase.
The haunted house isn’t as ‘fake’ as you thought.
Your costume draws some unwanted attention.
A scary halloween prank is revealed to be more.
You don’t believe in magic until you’re put under a spell.
A late night visit to the cemetery leaves you spooked.
While cleaning out an old cabin, you discover an unexpected inhabitant.
Your ex crashes thanksgiving to try to win you back.

END-OF-THE-SUMMER BONFIRE BASH
It’s a tradition that’s carried through the beginning of time, over many decades, finding it’s way into the year of 2022. The host of the annual end of the summer celebration has always been a mystery, the rumors in the mill ranging anywhere and everywhere from Chief of Police Jordan Walker hosting himself to Victoria Carlyle planning the entire event just to snag the biggest scoop of drama that happens. While the host has never been confirmed nor have any of the theories been denied, it doesn’t stop the adults of Providence Peak from pregaming with wine and distllery tastings and meandering their way around the corn maze during the warm day and drinking around the bonfire to avoid the newfound chill of the night.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Winery, Distillery, and Cocktail Tastings - Free tastings provided by several local businesses will begin promptly at noon on the day of the bonefire. Check in at the roped off entrance and with a $20 ticket receive a tasting glass and access to the free tastings and entrance to the corn maze - enter if you dare!
The following local wineries, distilleries, and bars will be offering tasings during this time:
Crane Brothers - Expect in-house distilled flavors such as British Blackberry Gin, Warm Spiced Apple, and Cranberry and Cinnamon to be among their classic flavors and be sure to pick up a bottle of Fireball Spiced Whiskey or Hair of the Dog while you’re there!
Holy Spirits - Prepare to be brought to your knees by the unique bar’s autumnal offerings including flavors of sweet apple, a seasonal pumpkin, and a cinnamon that will be sure to spice up anyone’s night.
The Grape Escape - Nothing is more perfect on a breezy fall afternoon than the spice of the winery’s famous warm pumpkin wine or the sweet crisp of their apple wine, bother offered during the tasting and as a full bottle available for purchase.
The Jagged Yard - A city staple, the bar is offering tastes of their specialty cocktails including a toasty s’mores based Campfire cocktail and a Fireball infused Cider Slush.
Cloud Wine - As a new winery in town, Cloud Wine is offering only their best to impress the city of Providence Peak. Between their specialty Autumn Harvest, a robust red cranberry fruit wine, and Colorado Pines, a spicy twist on a traditional white, they’ll be sure to knock the socks off of anyone who comes out to taste.
Bonfire Bash - After finding their way out of the corn maze, the city of Providence Peak is invited to a raging bonfire on one of the city’s lesser-known lakes in Bighorn Hills where all alcoholic beverages will be BYOB (or W if you’re feeling a bit fancy and picked up a bottle of local reserves at the tastings). Located near the bonfire will be QR codes for local Uber drivers and numbers for taxis and the local police department for anyone who finds themselves in need of a ride home.
OOC EVENT DETAILS
This event will be kicking off Wednesday, September 28th at 12pm EST. It will run until Friday, October 7th at Midnight, 12am EST. No new starters should be posted after this time, but members may take the next few days to wrap up their threads.
Previous threads do not have to be paused and may be continued.
Activity checks and acceptances will be held as usual.
Dress is casual and temperature is expected to be in the low 80s during the day and 60s at night. A light jacket or thick flannel is recommended.
Have fun and be sure to relax and enjoy this event! Please tag all event related posts with providence.event and be sure to check the starter blog for open event starters.

Graphic Novels, Not Just For Kids!
Do you enjoy reading graphic novels? Have you ever given them a chance? They are one of my favorite formats to read even though I don’t actually read that many of them. I tend to like very specific authors and illustrators of graphic novels, and even though some of these graphic novels are meant for kids and teens I see nothing wrong with adults enjoying them too. Art, and graphic novels are a form of art, is meant to be shared. Here are some of my favorite graphic novels.
French Milk by Lucy Knisley
An Age of License by Lucy Knisley
I pretty much love anything by Lucy Knisley, I’ve literally read all of her graphic novels but these 2 are my favorites. I relate to her the most in these two books as she struggles to find herself, travel, and learn what she wants out of life.
3. Giant Days by John Allison
Giant Days is a really fun series about 3 girls who meet and become best friends at University. They are all different, have different weaknesses and strengths, and are made stronger by being a team. Things get a little wacky, of course, as they only can by being in Uni but as a team, and with some help from outsiders they make it through, relatively unscathed. As I didn’t go away for college, reading this series did make me feel like I got to experience it vicariously through the characters.
4. Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks
I LOVE Halloween so I was instantly drawn to this graphic novel. It’s all about an ongoing Fall Festival where there are hay bale rides, bonfires, corn mazes, and more. It follows two of the employees who work there, it’s their last night there before they leave for college and they are determined to try everything they have missed out on by working there.
5. Go With the Flow by Karen Schneemann and Lily Williams
This graphic novel is not only really good, it’s also incredibly important. It starts off relatively simply, the middle school that the main characters attend never refills the pad and tampon dispensers in any of the girls' bathrooms. A small group of girls take issue with this and start lobbying the school and the school district to ensure that everyone has access to what they need. However, as the girls' awareness of inequality that people who menstruate face around the world it becomes a much bigger issue.
6. Sisters by Raina Telegeimer
7. Smile by Raina Telegeimer
8. Guts by Raina Telegeimer
9. Ghosts by Raina Telegeimer
10. Drama by Raina Telegeimer
Raina Telegeimer is great, easily one of the most popular authors of graphic novels amongst kids. Not only does she have these great stories listed here she also does all of the Baby-Sitter’s Club graphic novels. I really enjoyed these 4, Sisters, Smile, and Guts are a series but can also be read as standalone stories. Drama is all about the highs and lows of middle school, and Ghosts is uniquely its own.
11. Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera
This is so beautifully drawn that it would be worth it just for that but it also centers around a young woman finding herself as she travels away from home for the first time, she struggles to reconcile her mother’s love for her with the fact that she can’t accept that her daughter isn’t straight. As if that wasn’t hard enough Juliet is also dumped by her girlfriend right after leaving home. Well worth a read!
12. The Okay Witch by Emma Steinkellner
13. One Year at Ellsmere by Faith Erin Hicks
14. Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker and Wendy Xu
15. Witches of Brooklyn by Sophie Escabasse
I really enjoyed all four of these graphic novels and you can see why if you read them, they all involve strong active female characters, magic, and the supernatural. However, they’re not exactly the same, there are underlying motivations and themes apparent in each one. They were so fun to read AND there will be a second book for both The Okay Witch and Witches of Brooklyn. The Okay Witch and the Hungry Shadow comes out July 6th, and Witches of Brooklyn: What the Hex?! Will be released August 31st! I’m already on the waiting list for both of them at my local library!
Are you a graphic novel fan? Do you have a favorite that I haven’t listed here and think that I absolutely have to read it? Send me some recommendations or suggestions and I will check them out!

apple picking: it’s the time of the year again, where you’re able to make all the apple related dishes you want && you won’t be judged. the smith’s have open their doors to let us into their apple orchards to enjoy a wonderful day && learn all about this amazing fruit you can do so much with. you’ll also be able to try && taste juice, cider, different dishes && pies -- all made with apples, and all homemade by betty jo herself !! visit the orchard side of the farm for a day of fun picking apples, trying apple-flavored everything, and just helping to get things ready for the season. there will be apple bobbing, apple foods, apple drinks, apple carving, apple related games, and of course... pick your own apples !!
pumpkin picking: everybody loves pumpkins, right ?? they’re just a truly incredible, reminiscent scent that takes everyone back to their childhood, when pumpkin carving was a family event !! you’ll be able to take a wagon ride around the pumpkin patch to pick your favorite pumpkins to carve && take home. pre-picked pumpkins are also an option if you don’t feel like going out to the field. they’ve got mums, winter squashes, indian corn, corn stocks, and gourds available, too !! betty jo && james have set up an arts && crafts station where you’ll be able to take the pumpkin of your choosing && carve it any way you want. you’ll also be able to decorate apples, create your own halloween decorations, or paint your face && pumpkin with the paint they’ve allowed us to use. you can cut flowers && build your own flower bouquet, too !! find your inner child again with this activity !!
muses can post their pumpkins that they carved or painted to enter into a raffle to win an additional 25 points ( tag malnatism ) !!
corn maze: there’s nothing better than a corn maze to find your way out of, is there ?? betty jo && james have hooked us up with their charlie brown corn maze, where you’ll be able to find your way out of. it’s not just any corn maze, though, there’s some twists to it !! there’s three check points located throughout the maze where you’re able to check in with the workers && know if you’re on the right track. the first check point is a candy station where you’ll be able to stock up on a bag of candy while you roam through the maze. the second check point is a hidden bar where you’re able to take a break && try out some fall themed wines && beers. you’ll be able to take a sample of whatever you liked with you out of the maze, so be sure to try out something while you’re there !! the last checkpoint is a photobooth to prove that you made it out of the maze... alive. kidding, kidding. this maze is mostly innocent !! however, once the sun goes down, it starts to get a bit more spooky. be sure to bring a flashlight with you just in case you don’t get done before the moon arrives !!
hayrides: led by james himself, you’ll be able to go through the farm on a tractor drawn hayride. if you are up for a relaxing evening under the stars in the country, then this is the attraction for you !! the tractor will take you on an hour hayride through the farm. it is extremely peaceful && the night lit sky will make the experience worthwhile. but beware, once the sun says goodnight, lurkers from nearby come out to play. some will follow you, others will try to take you back to the woods with them, but rest assured, all of them will make sure you scream like a child.
bonfire: as always, there’s nothing better on a fall night than a bonfire !! the smith’s have a world class firepit that’s able to grow tall once it’s sparked. once the sun goes down, they’ll be bringing you the first campfire of the fall season !! you’ll be able to make corn on the cob, hot dogs, homemade donuts, and of course, s’mores !! exchange ghost stories by the fire or sing some halloween songs while you sit under the flames. end the night with memories you won’t forget !!

Twilight Halloween!!
these are just some dumb fun hc i have so like dont @ me, but also please please come talk to me about all these dumbasses trying to celebrate halloween
bella dresses up as a vampire. she thinks its the funniest thing ever and edward hates it. she wears glow in the dark plastic fangs and a cape and carries around a stuffed bat. she also covers herself in glitter, but everyone is really confused bc ‘vampires don’t sparkle??’
carlisle and esme dress up for the hospital halloween party. carlisle goes as a doctor (just like literally every other doctor at said party) and esme goes as a witch
esme also bakes an insane amount of halloween themed goods for various events. the wolves eat about half of it before it makes it out of the house though.
emmett and rosalie volunteer at the local haunted house/corn maze/pumpkin patch. rose gets to play with kids and carve pumpkins and just feel a little human. and emmett gets to get dressed up as a zombie and scare the shit out of people.
you would think that jasper goes as a cowboy. which would be true if it were not for alice. she dresses the both of them up in the most elaborate and insane costumes just to see if she can pull them off (she does).
the pack is very into halloween. they have a bonfire every year and tell scary stories and carve pumpkins and its v wholesome.
sam is the one that hooks emmett and rose up at the corn maze because he runs ‘security’ which just means he makes sure no one gets lost or too scared.
jake, quil, and embry are the best innocuous pranksters. they cause constant mayhem, but unlike emmett, they are good at not taking it too far.
leah thinks she’s ‘too cool’ for halloween, but her soft spot for seth means that he convinces her to get dressed up and go to the haunted house with him (she loves it)
the cullens and the wolves all keep an eye out on halloween night to make sure that no one gets hurt and nothing gets too out of hand
then they go into the woods once the town is asleep and have a proper party. halloween is for ‘monsters’ after all
#twilight#twilight halloween#the cullens#the pack#i just need me some wholesome twilight holiday content okay?#mine

PROLOGUE.
THE FOOL, REVERSED reckless, being taken advantage of, inconsideration
It’s a reckless act, one that crosses well into the territory of stupidity. But one cold September night, Matthias O’Shea decides to sell what he knows for a clear conscience. The fucking rat. He hands over a list of names and two address to the Chicago Police Department - ‘I suspect,’ he surmises, as if he’s trying to brush off the exact weight of what he’s doing.
Matthias O’Shea is a fool and that night Chicago pays for it.
Like wasps, the police swarm both meeting locations. They crawl into the basement of Ferguson & O’Riley, finding the O’Sheas, unaware. They descend on one of the warehouses in the Po catching the Fausts, surprised. Gunshots erupt almost immediately, cracking through the air like thunder on that cloudless night, and violence spills into the streets.
The lazy streets of the city have become a war zone. In a moment, Chicago is turned upside-down because of Matthias O’Shea’s foolishness.
CHAPTER 1.
THE MAGICIAN, UPRIGHT willpower, desire, creation, manifestation
We open on fall, two weeks later. There’s fresh earth on the graves of both the Faust's and O’Shea’s, including Mason O’Shea and Jaxon Faust. Both gangs scramble to set up their new headquarters. The O’Shea’s land on blank and the Faust's land on one of the docked freighters of Southern Transport.
But it’s as if the changing colors of the trees are determined to prove that the earth keeps turning, even in the face of great upheaval.
Mayor Washington, the dark horse candidate of the last election, is not as BLANK as his predecessor. It’s harder to pull the wool over this one’s eyes. And while Mayor Carver was not oblivious to the dark underbelly of the city, he seemed to lack the presence to cause any real change. Meanwhile, Mayor Washington has the willpower to pull this city up by its bootstraps. Death will not define this city in the way it has in the past.
The Washington's host a fall festival at the Lincoln Park Zoo to raise spirits. Come carve a pumpkin, have some snacks or enjoy the corn maze. Most importantly, revel in community. The Fall Fest is decidedly marked as neutral territory amongst most gangs, but it would be naive to say a pumpkin spice latte is enough to heal the wounds of a lost comrade, a lost father, or a lost brother.
SOMEHOW, THE NIGHT GOES ON DESPITE THE BLOODSHED.

[ CHARACTER C1 ] hijacks the train for a joy ride with [CHARACTER D1 ] on it.
[ CHARACTER E1 ] is so excited for the Ferris wheel, that they ride it multiple times that night. At the last call for the ride, they get stuck on top with [CHARACTER F1 ] as their partner.
[ CHARACTER G1 ] expects to get a drug delivery, but instead gets delicious holiday snacks made by [ CHARACTER H1 ] ‘s [RELATION OF CHOICE].
[ CHARACTER I1 ] slides down the fun slide on their stomach, face first. They suffer minor injuries, and cause injury to [ CHARACTER J1 ] when they fly off. They both get banned from the ride the rest of the festival.
Effie Faust finally convinces the attendant that they are young enough to go into the bounce house made for children. While inside, they see that [ CHARACTER L1 ] has already done the exact same thing.
WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR INTERACTIONS !
