Yu Fujimura V2 Review
I think some may have forgotten this was started as a review blog, and I kind of did too ; _ ; I’ve been going through a massive burnout these past 8 months or so and not really doing anything with UTAU at all, including keeping up with these reviews...I’m still working on the requests though, just maybe not in chronological order!
This review was requested by Yupphire.
*Art by Yupphire
Hear a Sample of Yu Fujimura
Bio
Name: 藤村ユウ/Yu Fujimura
Gender: ???
Pronouns: Any
Age: Looks 11
Height: 136cm (4'5")
Species: ???
Voiced and Oto by Yupphire
Yu Fujimura was born from one's desire to create music. Their physical form is only made up of miscellaneous notes and melodies, hoping to one day share them with the world.
Official Site
Yu has an official website on Carrd. Voicebank downloads are linked on the home page. The V2 VCV is 381 MB when unzipped and comes with fully generated .frq files.
First Impressions
Yu has a childish and feminine voice with nasal qualities who’s great for adding “oomph” and power to a project.
Configuration
The voicebank has C4, F4, and A#4 pitches and a Soft pitch recorded at E4. The only extras are end breaths and glottal stops, which interestingly are only available as vowel transitions. The transitions between pitches are very smooth, which I extra appreciate since I struggle with it in my own banks.
The vocal range peters out at about G3, but can go up to about F5 or so with no difficulty. Using the soft pitch makes the low range sound less nasally and more pleasant. but only increases the low range a little bit. I was a little disappointed with how similar the soft pitch sounds in tone to the other 3, I would love to hear this voice type with more timbres to pick from. The Soft pitch does have a slightly different enunciation/sound, but UTAU brightens the sound and makes it sound more like their other pitches.
Yu’s oto uses consistent values for every category except the offset, with a 1:3 ratio for the overlap/preutterance.
My recommended flags: F1Y50B0
My recommended resamplers: TIPS, f2resamp
Final Thoughts
Yu’s strong tone and pretty singing voice make for a really fun voice to play around with ♡ This is only the creator’s second voicebank, which is really impressive! Keep going!
Got any other UTAUs you want me to review? Send an ask!

Yakuza oc- Meet Stephanie Ailana
Given I am close to finishing Infinite Wealth Yakuza 8 I was kinda brainrotting about making a Yakuza oc... an optional one you could recruit in Hawaii.
Age: 39
Unique Class: Assistant
Certain Traits: Coffee Addict, workaholic, Anime fan,
Stephanie also known as Steph was born in Honolulu however her Uncle was a Yakuza in Japan and as she started to grow older she made a trip to her uncle and trained fighting under him with the Deck name of "Steve"... he was also the reason she got those flower tattoos now however eventually after a few years passing, her Uncle got killed thanks to a hit and she had to return to Hawaii to her parents... she tried quickly to excape her household in getting an office job and financing herself and own home however after years of hard work to the point of burn out she was fired from her place and minijobbed as a waitress instead. Despite that her previous connections to her uncle still made her a target for many of the Barracudas to want to manipulate her on their side.
Stephanies isn't blue haired Naturally of course, she dyes her hair to resemble her favourite Heroine in a Manga she loved... trying to eminate her title of the Seas voice... She herself doesn't have that much confidence in her looks but in her combat skills, using a Scissor as main weapon and also being an expert at using guns... She does get violent for self defense a lot but pushing her in a corner can end very badly... in itself she is a kind soul who just wants to be usefull but often disregards her own health... hence some of the Team members have to watch out for her. Ichiban kinda helped her in the Sub story to push the Barracudas away who tried to blackmail her and he did seem just the Hero like in some of her favourite stories... that she couldn't help but repay her debt for getting the help and see how it goes...
Below is her opinions on each team member so now it gets a little spoilery if you didn't recruit everyone:
Ichiban Kasuga: She admires him since the day he saved her… but is also quite the worry wart about him… Steph lacks a bit of confidence and he encourages her all the way so she knows she can rely on him even if they get into trouble… she is still unsure if its just friendship or something more but she knows she cares about him a ton.
Eric Tomizawa: They have a lot of laughs.. she overheard a little of him and Ichiban talking about his previous relationship and she feels her deserves more of life. She knows he been through a lot and as hawaiians you gotta stick together. He also can understand her situation given he been through some similar things so… in all both support another to get each other up again. Sometimes he is also a bit surprised when she does approach him more direct after growing through her journey cause she seemed timid before
Chitose Fujimura: She was sceptical of her at first… something seemed off to her but eventually Chitose became like a little sister she never had…especially once Steph got stronger she was able to encourage Chitose as well on her change. Chitose also helps steph find her own style and shine far more…
Yu Nanba: She was very off put by his smell but he actually became a great Drinking buddy… she can't understand him a lot but he is sympathetic to her… even learned to watch her stress and health more… she appreciates him
Koichi Adachi: Calls him Old geezer at times… they do work together but they have their banter… you could say she sometimes picks on him so he does better but eventually they probably see eye to eye… but for now she often doesn't take him seriously
Seonhee: She would idolize her to an extent, Seonhee is as strong as Stephanie wants to be… she is pretty too… but I feel Seonghee could give her advice how to do better
Saeko Mukoda: She wasn't that fond of her… to hear Ichiban went on a date and got a heartbroken by her she would never get her nor think she just be a mean girl but eventually she learned to respect her more… yet they dont have much in common so they won't be that close
Tianyou Zhao: Gets a little irritated by him at times… he is Chaotic, hard to read… she is unsure what to talk with him… but what she is confident in… the food he makes is amazing and she got to give him that
Joon gi Han: She would lie if she said he didn't catch her attention… he did look like a guy from a band she would be fangirling for… and in itself does catch herself staring at him from time to time… he doesn't know why she does… its moreso she admires him from afar
Kazuma Kiryu: She was very intimidated of him at first given the rumors… untill she saw him sing Karaoke for the first time and had to chuckle… she respects him but also worries about him given his condition. She might have tried to therapy him with her words but to no avail so… she just hopes he doesn't overdo it

“IT IS A BIG MISTAKE TO THINK OF A MARKET WITHOUT A NEW MARKET!” ——HONG KONG TV PATRIARCH NG YU COMPARES ART AND ENTERTAINMENT MARKETS
One market leads to another. Doors are all locked when we cannot keep our own market.
Instagrammer Caleb Hsu made this point, “When aesthetic purpose precedes exposure and sales considerations, art wins over entertainment. It starts with artistic intention and results in audience response. Entertainment is more about artifice, whereas art has a strong hold in substance.” He quoted what an artist Makoto Fujimura had said, “Entertainment gives you a predictable pleasure. Art leads to transformation. It awakens you, rather than just satisfying a craving.”
The only one in Hong Kong, a venerable authority, who is qualified to comment the difference between entertainment and art market is Master Ng Yu.
When I worked part-time in TVB (Television Broadcasts Limited) in the 80s, he was my boss and taught me how to write television scripts. He was a quick-witted, discerning, helpful and ardent master. He joined TVB in 1975 as a playwright and climbed the corporate ladder incessantly. While being at senior level position, Ng left TVB to join the music industry i.e. Capital Artists in 1996. In 2001, Ng was persuaded to take up a top position in another powerful entertainment company Emperor Entertainment Group.
Ng is an eminent incubator of entertainment superstars in Hong Kong: they include Eason Chan, Miriam Yeung, Joey Yung, Twins and Raymond Lam Fung. Ng told me, “There is a moment of birth and a moment of success of a superstar, but between them there is a long period of marketing calculations and actions. Nothing comes out easily. Marketing is of vital importance to entertainment business. It is the painstaking process of discovering a gifted performer, shaping up him or her, promoting and selling their talents to the target audience market. Along the way, creating the right product to complement a star is also a very absorbing job.”
In 2017, Ng was appointed by the Government to be a member of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. B.B.S. hounour was also bestowed upon him for his great contributions.
I asked him, “Having served art sectors for some years, how would you compare art and entertainment, or perhaps pop cultures?” Ng grinned, “Art is ‘artist-and-supply’ driven. Entertainment is ‘hit-and-demand’ driven. Art is the expression of wonderful creative skills and imaginations by an artist. There is something inside an artist that needs to get out naturally to other people. They do art for the pure reason of it, instead of a desire to make more money. In art market, supply is bigger than demand. On the other hand, entertainment is commercially designed to please, amuse or stir up demands which will stimulate people to spend money on products such as pop concert, TV drama or song album. However, both art and entertainment do need a market to survive, although art may need a smaller market but entertainment needs a bigger market.”
I questioned, “What are the key performance indicators of a sustainable market for both?” Ng was determined, “Whether it is a smaller art market or bigger entertainment market, the size does not matter and may not be directly relevant to its sustainability. We should look at 3 factors. Irrespective of the percentage, does the market of the art or entertainment form in question grow by a certain desired rate every year? Does the growth generate a rise in the real revenue of the trade? Some governments simply send away free tickets of art performances to the public. This is not conducive to the development of a sustainable market. We must also examine whether there is any new blood attracted to the field bringing in fresh ideas and new market. If the entertainment or art form is dull and inactive, like a pond of stagnant water, it shall be a sign that the market is degenerating, if not disintegrating.”
I queried, “Is the problem serious in Hong Kong?” Ng sighed, “Yes, very serious. We cannot just put the blame on the government and condemn it to do more. Investors, administrators, practitioners and artists all have their share of responsibility and a part to play.” I followed up, “How to solve the problem?” Ng clenched his fist, “While we talk too much about gimmicks of getting more audience, we must fundamentally change our mindset of mediocracy and complacency. We must be very critical of the high quality and creativity of our ‘content products’. Why do we naively assume the audience will waste their money and time on a bad or immature product? When we have irresistible products, we should export them to other places to excavate a new market. The lack of a new market means death of the existing one in the long-term future. This is an applicable rule both for the entertainment and art world.”
In the performing industries of art and entertainment, there are 2 falsehoods. The art people put too much emphasis on self-assurance and the entertainment folks care too much about money-making. Perhaps, the significance of ‘value creation’ from the target audience’s point of view shall be their most important objective on their path to compete for a market which can feed Hong Kong.
