Was the original idea to make Kate Drummond (who wasn't a real person) wyat's wife, Jessica?

The way this GIF was made suggests that might've been an idea that was floating around. In the Pilot episode, wyat says that Kate looks a lot like his dead wife. So what if pre-Pilot, Jessica was Rittenhouse (as much as I hate that the writers did that in season 2), and was taken back to the 1930s as one of the first sleeper agents?

Of course... this is probably only my fanfic mused brain coming up with stories for future fics (that I might never write), but still...

Happy 8th Anniversary, Timeless!

I don't know what I can say that I haven't already said a thousand times before. Timeless is my favourite show. I stopped keeping count of how many times I've watched it back in 2018/19 after I hit 50 rewatches. And I've watched the OG26 almost monthly since (and sometimes more than that).

I knew I'd love Timeless the first time I saw a trailer for the series during the 2016 Rio Olympics - time travel, history, action and adventure. Gimme gimme gimme. OMG. I have a "three seasons/renewed for another" and "series complete/not left unfinished or with a shitty ending" rule that I apply to what shows I will watch. Timeless didn't make the criteria (obviously bc it hadn't aired yet), but I was so in love with the trailers I saw, that I marked my calendar for 3 October, and the moment I could add it to record on my DVR, I did.

And eight years ago tonight, I fell in love with the series.

Sure, after the Shitmas episodes, my love for it wavered, and I found it difficult to rewatch. But the months passed, and my memory of Shitmas details waned, and I was able to rewatch without thinking about how that shitty lyat fanfic "movie" took the OG26 series and erased it for gross lyat fanfic fodder. Yes, I may not remember Shitmas well, but I do remember how disgusting it was, and I will forever hold a grudge against NBC, arika and lauren for fucking it up as badly as they did. (please note: I have never and will never watch those Shitmas episodes again - and neither should you 😊).

The OG26 series isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I love it anyway.

I wrote more about my fandom-ing for Timeless on my fanworks site if you're interested 👇 IIRC I write a little bit about the fandom history, and my good (and bad) experiences in it.

Timeless introduced me to Garcia Flynn who went on to dethrone my previous Favourite Character of All Time who had held that top spot for 17 years. Today, in 2024, Garcia has held that title for six, and I don't think he will ever be dethroned since I've stopped watching new TV shows. What makes him more special than all other characters I love is the strength of his redemption arc. Who he was in season 1 vs. the changes he made to be a better person in season 2. His ability to speak several languages helps a lot, too. I'm a sucker for men who speak more then two languages.

I also cannot resist a character who has lost loved ones, and is hell bent on avenging their deaths. Even better if at first he seems to be the villain of the story, who turns out to be the hero.

Timeless also introduced me to Garcy.

I maintain a Garcy fansite. I have a couple handfuls of Garcy fanvids. I have over 50 works on AO3 for Garcy. I've made manips and graphic fanart for them. I don't think I need to explain how much I love this ship 😂

I could write an essay on why Garcy is my favourite ship, and why I love it over all others.

But for now, all I'll say is that my love of Garcy is personal. And like in my own life, it ended leaving only one question in its wake... what if?

*sighs* I made this Garcia Flynn fanvid one week before the Shitmas "movie" episodes aired. Even though I knew arika (and her minion, lauren) wrote that thing, there was a very, itty bitty, minuscule part of me that hoped they wouldn't completely fuck up Timeless, its story, characters, and relationship dynamics. Obviously, I was wrong.

Anyway, I made this before those shitty episodes aired because I knew that no matter what shit laurika would throw at us to appease their lyat worshippers, that Garcia Flynn was, is, and will forever be the hero of Timeless ❤

This wasn't the greatest episode for that Timeless Reunion a few years back, but at least we got Garcy again, and Emma's commentary about lart/lyat/lyatt (however the fuck you like to spell it) was worth an Olympic gold medal 😂

Anyway...

In case you don't know, I'm attempting to stay off fandom social media during the month of December.

All of my upcoming Tumblr posts have been scheduled. I might check in once a week to keep up with notifications, and to read your replies. Or if I make anything new that fits in with the holiday season, I'll share those with you <- IIRC, all of my scheduled posts this month are Timeless/Garcy holiday fanworks from previous years.

I have no intention to create any new Garcy holiday fanworks, but I also have no control if I wake up one day with a story, or fanart idea.

This time of year is awful for me. For many IRL reasons and a small handful of fandom reasons. This year, I promised myself to do everything I can to avoid my triggers, and bowing out from fandom social media (and avoiding xmas fics associated with a certain secret santa project) is near the very top of the list. I'd apologise for not reading those fics, but just typing that project's name indirectly increased my heartrate. And since I can't block the tag they use on AO3, I'm ignoring AO3 until sometime in January - when hopefully non-secret santa project fics will be slowly replaced at the top of the Garcia Flynn/Lucy Preston tag by non-xmas fics.

ETA: unless... that certain secret santa project isn't happening this year. If that's the case, let me know since AO3 might be safe for me without it 😊 Thanks.

I was going to use December to finish writing "Bodyguard," but once again IRL stress and anxiety have overwhelmed me, and I'd rather do nothing at all to preserve my energy for the xmas holiday obligation.

That said, studying foreign languages helps soothe me, so I'm working in 2-3 hours of language study into my days ever since I got back from the Thanksgiving obligation. I watched a polyglot gathering video yesterday that was presented in German, French, and English (mostly German), and I realised that my German comprehension is getting better. I'm also one month in on dabbling with Norwegian every day, and am loving that language (especially its pronunciation). I got money for my birthday to buy the Croatian ASSIMIL audio files, and have started that program over from the beginning. And ofc, I watch French TV, listen to French, and read French everyday to maintain the language ❤ I'm actually using the Croatian ASSIMIL program for French speakers to learn Croatian, that helps me fit in French at the same time as Croatian 😊

So, yeah... if my replying to replies continues to plummet, it's because I'm not checking in as much. But I do appreciate your ❤s and replies, and will read them all.

10 March 2018 “Figure Out What You’re Fighting For”

I like to think that Lucy was able to walk into that Nazi party, telling herself that she is doing it (all of it) so she can get her sister back. It still sickens me to this day that those writers decided that at the end of their stupid lyat fanfic finale “movie” that Lucy would basically shrug her shoulders and give up on Amy. I don’t remember much from that monstrosity anymore, but I remember the absolute worst parts, and Lucy giving up on her sister was one of the grossest examples of out-of-character that I have ever seen. Fuck those writers, and fuck NBC for ever allowing them to do those Shitmas episodes.

Also, my apologies for using that symbol. I included it because it shows us what Lucy was facing as she made the decision to keep fighting so that she can save her sister.
