"Maverick, people don't talk about how much their personal assistants help their lives, but he has my whole schedule locked in, half the time he knows what I need before I do."

He knows he most likely isn't, but how much harm could a rodent of that size and stature cause?

There's not much thinking involved for him beyond that, leaning his racket against the trunk of the tree as he holds his hand out to beckon Maverick closer so he could become his human ladder of sorts.

"Put your hands together and lift me, I can Spider-man myself up the rest of the way."

At that point, it was less about retrieving the ball itself and more proving to himself that he could.

Maverick shields his eyes  with a hand held above his browline just to try and catch a sight of this very chatty squirrel. The tennis ball is expectedly not returned. Ravi must have really put the gas behind it…

“Well, you sure did. I guess kitchen work is like the secret cross fit, huh?”

Maybe, maybe not. Ravi can also just have a mean swing from all the time he’s spent playing tennis. It’s definitely a whole lot more than Maverick’s ever played. Astrid might stand a better chance with her being the jock out of the two of them, and her crazy good hands-on-eye coordination.

“Squirrels are mean, dude. You sure you wanna go up there?” It certainly isn’t Maverick offering himself. “What if there’s a nest and it rips your face off for disturbing the babies it’s just gotten to bed?”

William Shatner Joins Bitcoin Mining Project, Admits He Doesn’t Quite Get It

Solar Alliance announced Star Trek icon, actor William Shatner, as their celebrity spokesperson for the startup using the sun’s energy to power bitcoin mining. This isn’t Mr. Shatner’s first encounter with cryptocurrency, and even still he readily admits not understanding what it is he’s shilling.

William Shatner Boldly Goes Where a lot of People Have Already Gone

Maybe some of Captain James T. Kirk’s maverick character on the kitchy television show, Star Trek, rubbed off on the man who played him, William Shatner. Captain Kirk bagged the smokin’ hot African American Lieutenant Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) in a risque interracial television kiss, for example. He was also known to be quite the adventurer, exploring “strange new worlds.” Perhaps this fictional role emboldened Mr. Shatner, 87, to accept a spokesperson gig with Solar Alliance.

Solar Alliance is attempting to answer growing criticism from environmentalists about how bitcoin mining wastes precious resources. CEO Jason Bak explained to the Chicago Tribune his company would spread out on 14 acres in the middle western United States, using solar panels to generate the relatively large amounts of energy miners need. There, miners can lease space along with receiving coaching from the company along the way.

An Ingratiating Confession

Mr. Shatner confessed to the Chicago Tribune, “The concept is so, I guess the word is bizarre. You have to blank your mind and say, ‘What is blockchain, again? How does mining operate, again?’ The concepts are really strange, and yet when you begin to grasp it, it makes sense.” This seems to be the Canadian born actor’s default position on the phenomenon. Back in 2014, when bitcoin core (BTC) could be used as a tipping currency, a fan sent him some satoshis. The iconic actor tweeted in response, “what the heck is bit coin [sic]?”

Mr. Shatner present day said he was made aware of Solar Alliance when they outfitted his own home by coincidence. Asked if he’d take a personal tour of the facility once it’s up and running, he affirmed, “I’m in Chicago a lot, and I live in Kentucky part of the time. I might very well do that. It’s an interesting idea to see it at work because … it’s so esoteric that it’s difficult to understand.” The Illinois small town of less than 10,000 residents, Murphysboro, has laid down the welcome mat to the company. Its mayor has even suggested a 165,000 sq ft factory, vacant for over a dozen years, be converted for mining operations. Mayor Stephens explained his town “like a lot of Middle America, have seen job losses because of a change in the worldwide economy. From my perspective, we’re going to have someone who will occupy a previously derelict property, and whatever development comes out of it will just make it more marketable if the project is not successful.”

They will perform an experimental dialogue with Danish/Swedish composer, saxophonist and performer Mia Dyberg. Austrian musician and performance artist Margaret Unknown comes back to Noiseberg, this time with his solo project. He is a maverick explorer of sound and noise, fiddling with a variety of objects, instruments and effects to generate a fascinating and always hypnotic auditive chaos. Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Berlin meet with Hui-chun Lin on cello and voice, Fangyi-Liu on guan and voice, and Eric Wong on guitar. This is the first collaboration of the trio of free improvisation, crossing the sound from human voice and wood instruments with electrified feedback.

"I have to say though, I feel like Mav and I deserve a little credit. The place isn't getting featured in Architectural Digest anytime soon or anything, but it's not some frat house horror show either. We've got a rug, there's candles in the bathrooms, I have more than one pillow on my bed and an actual comforter...it's pretty damn homey for two people who are almost never home. Well, I guess now for one person who's never home and Mav, who I think is starting to go a little stir crazy. Maybe I should hide the candles."

"Dude, it would be so much worse, are you kidding? First of all...don't even want to think about a world where Bart is not our son. Mav's the best co-turtle-parent I or Bart could've ever dreamed of. He's also probably the best roommate I could've asked for...like I couldn't imagine coming home every day to someone I just absolutely hated? And it kinda worked out perfectly that we both have jobs that keep us out of the house longer than usual, so we're not constantly on top of each other or stepping on anybody's toes and both get that healthy time apart so we don't get sick of each other. But honestly, we go way the fuck back, so I can't even imagine all the ways my life would probably be so totally different now if we hadn't met in high school...and I don't really want to. The guy's one of my best friends, and even if I didn't know that in some version of the universe that he was, I definitely think alternate Atticus would feel that Maverick sized loss, somehow."
