Helicopters fly over the Mojave towards the remaining NCR outposts. Sirens sound across the Mojave as the echoes of artillery and the roar of tanks disrupts the tranquil environment.

Dozens of freshly trained Legion paratroopers jump out over the outskirts of towns and cities while the Boomers' B29, part of 4 groups of three bombers each drop airbombs and mininukes on hastily made NCR reinforcements streaming out of their bases.

And the Divide finally erupts into flames, Ulysses' worst nightmare, as 5 lances of fire ascend into the sky and travel towards the NCR- two headed to Colorado and Dayglow, two others towards the Capital Wastes- Washington DC and Boston respectively. And one headed to Zion.

The Dam, a bastion of artillery fires dozens of shells an hour at Boulder City. The Pershing II with a new nuclear warhead sits at the heavily defended HELIOS ONE complex as new troops, tanks, artillery pieces and squads of men arrive by helicopter or truck.

Squads of NCR infantry are crippled by hidden landmines.

Hundreds of people suspected of engaging in debauchery, crime and or immorality are dragged out into the streets of the Strip, corralled into trucks and shot in fields.

A single Eagles B-52 looses a single megaton-class nuclear gravity bomb above the REPCONN plant.

Vulpes watches from the Sherman as the Mojave is dragged into the depths of war.

(Imma just say this is pre defection Galileo loll) Galileo stood there awkwardly for a few moments- both because a) he in all truthfulness wasn’t Lanius’ biggest fan b) he was being used as some sort of fucking messenger instead of well- literally anything else “Apologies to… interrupt whatever you’re doing but well, ‘got a message from one of the other camps, ‘lost half their men to defection- and yes, before you say anything, I did mention that it is of no relevance to you, but they insisted-.

(He’s not nervous just annoyed that he’s doing this- bro’s been with the legion since the start and this feels wayyyy beneath him but he’s also getting an excuse to not nearly die every two seconds so he can’t really complain)

[Lanius turns his head to face you fully, eyeing you with an air of scrutiny. His face may be hidden by his metal helmet, but his icy blue eyes glare at you as they focus their cold stare on your own. He takes a moment to spit on the ground, the thought of disloyalty to the mighty Caesar leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.]

Defection? Who dares to abandon the glory of the army under Caesar’s command? Do they think themselves above me and the will of the son of Mars? Those traitors must be punished. I want them hunted down, slaughtered, and their heads shown to everyone so they know the consequences of such treachery. Nobody escapes Caesar’s wrath. 

[His voice carries a deep, booming bass as he speaks, almost like an impending earthquake. His hands rest on the handle of his sword almost lazily, but you know he could snap to attention any moment. He itches to spill the blood of those who would defy Caesar’s rule.]

I do not stand for such weakness and cowardice. Teach the deserters a lesson. Show them that no one is above Caesar and his legion. 

[A pause.]

And if you fail, I shall not hesitate to cut you all down with my own blade.

Galileo, gehenna in hand, appeared near where his cameras had last spotted oliver with a soft burst of light- stumbling slightly on the rubble he’d been teleported atop of.

But well… It was pretty obvious something had happened in the few seconds it took him to get here because well… Last time he checked there was NOT rubble here, nor did everything look like it had been through a wildfire.

GET EVERYONE ON THE VERTIBIRD AND TAKE OFF! LET ME HANDLE THIS!

*pulls Ranger Sequoia out as Hanlon, the heavily armed NCR troopers and some NCR rangers get in and the helicopter takes off*

I knew it. Frumentarius Galileo, if NCR regional intelligence is correct. A friend of Vulpes- a man I suspect is behind our disastrous battle at the Dam.

I've come prepared. *pulls out a small bakelite autoinjector the size of his index finger and stabs it into himself. He shudders as the drugs take effect.*

(Oliver is now on Turbo, Daytripper, Hydra, Med-X, Rebound, Steady and Psycho. He is now hard to wound, exceptionally attentive and accurate, unable to break under pressure and unable to be incapacitated by pain.)

I have two of these things, and when I'm done with you, I'll break the back of your femboy friend and the Legion by extension.

*Oliver tosses the autoinjector over his shoulder*

I’m not asking this out of Concern for you…I don’t think I have that, not now.

I have people I’m taking care of, and I want to know how badly the hammer is coming down after today’s events ... Or more accurately, the ripper. I have Always seen it come after someone like you has a bad day. So please, will you tell me how bad it’s going to be?

Our abrupt end to the invasion was a.. choice of mine. I suspect Frumentarius Galileo is going to find a reason to have me declared unfit for duty and relieved from command so he can finish the job…

He knows some of the mythical Combined Arms Warfare that I taught him personally- enough to finish what was started at the Dam, but not well versed enough or having the key instrument to conquer the Mojave. Which would be fine- there are other ways to control the Mojave.

I will be taking the C-Finder with me to Utah- and I’ll have it delivered to a location I know of in a strong and weatherproof locked box, alongside several decoys. I do not trust anyone- not Laenus, not Galileo, not even myself with it. Once I arrive, I will bury it in a spot I know, ready to be dug up and unlocked to defend wherever I settle as a last ditch approach if the need so arises.

Reports are suggesting Frumentarius Galileo is fighting against General Oliver- who is on at least 4+ different chems.

Brazen for Oliver to fight in an open space.

*Vulpes opens a door on the helicopter and aims his hunting rifle at Oliver*

*He pulls the trigger.*

*You suddenly hear the sounds of some order being given across the emergency radio- and then you all hear gunfire. You can hear the sounds of Vertibirds taking off, sirens sounding, gunfire, and Legion artillery firing, causing loud and catastrophic explosions.

Only half a minute later, the sounds of mini nukes and buildings exploding can be heard, and Vertibirds laying fire on the dam.

The NCR has just restarted the fight. Turns out Oliver wasn't apt to sit on his hands anymore.

And then your stomach pales. You realize it's only a matter of time- the Legion is going to hunt down Vulpes and make him do his warfare stuff, and the Dam will be held by the Legion.

Oliver has just given the Legion the reason to take the dam back.*

Frumentarius Galileo, there is no danger in Novac currently. We issued orders to return to the Fort and prepare for Vertibird takeoff and to position artillery, courtesy of the Boomers at Nellis 30 minutes ago. I assume you missed the briefing.

Head to HELIOS ONE. I’ll try to arrange a Vertibird to defend the site, answer to the base commander and follow their orders.

Hold on, Lanius just informed me of a.. wave of NCR Vertibirds, and… armored vehicles headed to the Strip? Wait… *flips through book* Are those tanks?

Galileo adjusted his sunglasses slightly- opening his mouth to speak, but nothing but a rush of air came out, so he simply grabbed a chair and sat there.

He… What had happened when he was gone? What happened to Vulpes? Last he’d heard Vulpes had finally escaped the legions’ grasp, and was making his way back home…

What had happened? And why did he hate himself for leaving the few people who cared about him without even saying goodbye?

Vulpes looks up groggily and stares at Gaileo.

His expression switches to a mixture of pain and distress. His appearance is disheveled- he seems oily and there's a small unpleasant musk coming from him, and you can tell he's stopped taking care of himself. You can feel the raw hurt, betrayal and resentment- you feel like he's spent nights weeping, and countless days of depression..

Your training tells you he's having a mental breakdown due to your presence.
