So I had actually started this in early December when we first got a look at Deep Cut’s designs for Frostyfest. Big Man’s look reminded me of Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon with that one meme so I wanted to draw that! I did a sketch, then nothing, cleaned it up and changed Frye’s pose, then put the project on hold. I didn’t go back to it until near the end of the Frostyfest since I realized that the results would help with the outcome of this meme! I had wanted to add Shiver to the piece but wasn’t sure how until again realizing the end results for the event would help paint the picture lol. I was on team Family and for real I thought with Friends being in the lead at half time they’d end up winning with team Solo only contributing with their sneak peek points (which would of been a perfect setup for the meme) only to have Solo sweep all the points! 😲 It made Frye’s line for the meme harder to write yet made it easy to make Shiver quote a different meme lol. Either way, this was fun to make and the Frostyfest was fun to participate in! ^^ Hope you guys enjoy!

Springfest returns in April 2024!

Splatoween and FrostyFest might be over, but there's more festivities to be had as SpringFest makes its return to Splatsville and Inkopolis in just a couple of months.

Both the cities are getting some dazzling makeovers to go alongside the event, but you don't have to be left out either:

Four pairs of glasses and nine pairs of shoes are being distributed through the Nintendo Switch News Channel closer to the Splatfest, so keep an eye out for that!

But that's not all the Splatfest news, as we've also got a video on the new Splatfest feature, Fizzbang!

You get one of these firework bombs whenever you splat an opponent or land from a sufficiently high fall, and after thrown they paint and deal damage in an area around them after a short delay.

There's a lot of questions I still have about these things, like how much damage they do, but it's certainly something that I think will spice up Splatfests quite a lot.

How do you get such good idol pics???? I can never get mine to look nice,, it's so hard for me to get deep cut photos when they're performing anarchy rainbow

Fun fact, if you wanna take photos of Deep Cut when they are performing Anarchy Rainbow, all you have to do is win one game when you reach ruler, and you'll be able to board their float. It used to be that you had to win a 100x or 333x battle to get up there, but thankfully after the grand fest they changed it! So keep that in mind for when you wanna take pics during FrostyFest and beyond!!

Now how to take good photos? Well, I'll give you some tips.

1. Make sure you have your subject (in this case, an idol) in the frame. Either in the middle or 1/3 to the left or 1/3 to the right.

2. WATCH THE PERFORMANCES FIRST!!! Watch them and look out for poses and different moves that they do to take good photos! If you see a cool pose or action, remember it and get ready to spot it when you're taking pics.

3. Use the zoom in feature and tilt the camera to add more spice. If you want good close ups, move your camera forward and them use the zoom in feature. But don't go too close or too far. If you want a shoulder up shot, make sure you capture the subject's full head and shoulders in the frame. Do NOT cut anything out.

Notice how this shot looks a bit wonky? It's because Callie's head gear is clipped out and it isn't centered well.

4. It's trial and error. Basically, when it comes to virtual photography, it takes time and paying attention to your own work to get better shots. It doesn't happen overnight, and it's gonna take a while. But what matters is that you are having fun!!! Fun and experimenting are the keys to improvement!!! Also, look at other people's shots and think about what you like about the shots and what you can take from theirs and add to your own, without, of course, just directly coping their work.

At the end of the day, fun is the most important thing. Okay? Don't worry about if shit looks good or not. Just follow your heart. Follow your gut feeling. And it'll work out in the end.

Time to start the first Splatfest of 2024 and kicking off FrostyFest. I'm fighting for Team Family Frye as me, @magical-game, @zwei-the-penguin-with-a-pen, and @talasdoodles.

Also just to keep things realistic:

I know we're all super excited for Side Order, but given what the team has been going through lately, I wouldn't 100% count on the Spring 2024 date being THAT early into Spring

Several events had to be postponed due to threats Big Run's bug isn't fixed even after the patch and FrostyFest's theme is still nowhere to be seen

They're quite behind on a lot of stuff, and I know people are hopeful for February/March, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to May

(Remember, Splatoon 3 was slated for "Summer 2022", but wasn't out until after the first week of September)

Just try to keep your expectations tempered! Expect later, and be surprised if its earlier!

So I am very confused at how the rest of Splat3’s updated lifespan is going to play out considering Sizzle Season 2024 is obviously gearing up to be the final season and presumably the one with Finalfest, but the reruns of Splatoween and Frostyfest being found in the game files seem to completely throw a wrench in that considering A. Finalfest would not, in fact, be the final fest, and B. ending off the game’s update lifecycle and the update lifecycle for the entire trilogy with two seasonal Splatfest reruns seems anticlimactic to say the least. Will they maybe stop doing seasons after Sizzle 2024 but delay Finalfest until next year? But if that’s the case why did they tease Finalfest in the Sizzle 2024 trailer with the jelly with the three idol logos?

FrostyFest!!! WOOOOO!!!!

FrostyFest was probably my favorite event in Spla2n, but mainly cuz of my performance during it. I-it's been a while since I've played the game, between CRK, writing, and playing Super Mario RPG off to the side. But for this? I'll be glad to go back!

BTW, I'm fighting for Team Friends for two reasons. One is the sweet, sweet nostalgia! I was Team Friends in 2 as well, so I wanted to stay loyal to that, y'know? But the other reason is that....look, I wanna stick true to what I said at the end of my last fest, when Shiver got curbstomped with zero points. I said that, next time there was a theme I didn't really massively care about, I'd choose Shiver's side to help her get redemption. I-I know there was one I missed afterward, but....th-that didn't count, since I wasn't there, so.....so there! I-I'm gonna help 2024 become the TRUE Era of Shiver!! >.<
