“Fall of X” Era Ushers in New Comic Book Series and Ties into Several Titles

In July 2023 the X-Men will hold the Hellfire Gala, which will kick off a new era that will become known as the “Fall of X,” where everything that mutantkind has accomplished on Krakoa threatens to be destroyed. The Fall of X saga will tie into several titles and create a few new ones.

X-Men will continue with the 25th issue from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Stefano Caselli. As with other Hellfire Galas, the team will get shaken up. Kate Pryde, aka Kitty, Sprite, Ariel, Red Queen, and Captain Kate, will join the team under the name ShadowKat.

X-Men #25, featuring a main cover by Joshua Cassara and a design variant cover by Peach Momoko, goes on sale on August 2, 2023.

Iceman gets his own solo series as Earth’s protector from writer Steve Orlando and artist Vincenzo Carratù. Bobby Drake will get a new base of operations, new uses for his abilities, new enemies, and a new purpose, “but a dark side effect of his new mission could cause it all to shatter… After the events of this year’s can’t-miss Hellfire Gala, Bobby Drake, AKA Iceman, sets his sights on heroic deeds like never before. But as a new situation develops that links Iceman to his Antarctic ice palace, he’ll have to be slicker than ever to accomplish his mission before Orchis knows what hit them!” (Marvel Comics)

Astonishing Iceman #1, featuring a cover by Jesús Saiz, goes on sale on August 2, 2023.

Wolverine and Ghost Rider are on a collision course in the four-part epic from writer Benjamin Percy and artist Geoff Shaw’s Ghost Rider / Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance. “A demonic serial killer is murdering innocent mutants. But what is it about this deadly new villain that forces our two heroes to team up? And what buried secret does he share with Wolverine and Ghost Rider’s never-before-seen very first meeting in the past?” (Marvel Comics)

Ghost Rider / Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance Alpha #1, featuring a cover by Ryan Stegman, goes on sale on August 9, 2023. The story continues in the pages of Ghost Rider #17, Wolverine #36, and Ghost Rider / Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance Omega.

Uncanny Avengers, from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Javier Garrón, will see the return of the Avengers’ Unity Squad. The new team will include Captain America, Rogue, Deadpool, Quicksilver, Psylocke, and Penance. The team will be tasked with solving the mystery of the murderous Captain Krakoa and stopping his army of killers from starting a new world war.

Uncanny Avengers #1, featuring a cover by Javier Garrón, goes on sale on August 16, 2023.

Writer Steve Foxe and artist Jonas Scharf’s new Dark X-Men series will band together a new twisted team under Madelyne Pryor consisting of Pryor, Havok, Archangel, Gambit, Zazael, Zero, Albert, and Emplate. “This deadly group will band together to fill the void left by the X-Men, and are seemingly the perfect team to combat the harsh conditions of FALL OF X. Their hearts are in the right place but under the unpredictable leadership of the Goblin Queen and operating out of New York’s new Limbo Embassy, will this team’s dark ways turn the tide for mutantkind or make things far worse?” (Marvel Comics)

Dark X-Men #1, featuring a cover by Stephen Segovia, goes on sale on August 16, 2023.

X-Force continues from writer Benjamin Percy and penciler Robert Gill. The team will have a new leader - Colossus - who will lead them to a place that Marvel Comics assures us readers will never expect.

X-Force #43, featuring a cover by Daniel Acuña, goes on sale on August 23, 2023.

The Invincible Iron Man, from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Juan Frigeri, will see Tony Stark playing a key role in the Fall of X. With Feilong in control of Stark Unlimited and using it to build Stark Sentinels, Tony proposes an alliance with Emma Frost. 

The Invincible Iron Man #9, featuring a cover by Kael Ngu, goes on sale on August 23, 2023.

The Fall of X will also send ripples through the Ten Realms. Realm of X, from writer Torunn Grønbekk and artist Diógenes Neves will find a group of mutants stranded in Vanaheim. “And what's even more confusing, the locals seem to believe that they hold the key to fulfilling a prophecy that can either raise the realm to riches—or cause it to fall to ruin. With Magik's powers malfunctioning and a mysterious figure amassing power on the outskirts of the realm, these X-Men are going to going to have to band together if they want to stay alive long enough to find their way home!” (Marvel Comics) If Magik, Dani Moonstar, Marrow, Dust, Curse, and Typhoid Mary can overcome their differences they may just rise as the legendary heroes of the Tem Realms. Or their presences could just escalate the conflict and warps all of mutantkind’s destiny forever. No pressure.

Price is unsure about becoming a father. He is away for so much and does not know how to be a dad. The only time he ever saw family life was when he peaked through windows of little huts while he caused winter storms and blizzards. He promises his wife to think about it before he leaves to do business and bring down the cold of winter once again.

They fell silent. Normally, Price enjoyed it. The close quiet he had with his wife, knowing that whatever differences they had the quiet would end. Feeling her ice skin under his frost bitten, harsh hands was familiar. But not this time.

What compromise could be made?

There was no half child. It was all or nothing. He could not just steal a kid and give it to her as a gift. Any human would just freeze in the palace of ice. And once a child of theirs was there, he could not change his mind.

“Let me think about it.” He had ended the silence between them. “I will leave to bring winter to the south. When I come back, we will talk, and you will have my answer.”

That was a few months ago.

He had promised his queen an answer.

The problem was – he had none.

After all this time of contemplating, staring into the cold night and watching the stars or sitting in the snow-covered forests, John Price the Master of Winter did not know if he wanted children. For once he wanted to pray to some god for answer and wisdom like the humans did. The problem was, he was who they asked for answers. There was no one more powerful up here but him. And his wife.

Price shook off the snow that had collected on his blue coat and got up. No point in running away. She had waited for his answer all these months. It was time he did her justice by at least showing up on time.

A/N: the REAL frost queen

Captain Ice has seen many-a-beautiful thing in her day — crimson sunsets over open waters; massive, gentle whales breaching the surface with a spray that refracts into rainbows; the silhouette of land just peeking over the expanse of blue — but no sight is more radiant than you, lying beside her in the early hours of the morning.

Those mornings spent with only you in her quarters are her favorites. She awakens before the sun has a chance to creep over the horizon and loses herself in the gentle rocking of her ship and the rhythm of your peaceful breathing.

Oh, to remain tangled in your limbs for an eternity…

Though a bit of a hardass toward her crew, she’s got a special soft spot reserved only for you (and children, which you've come to find out).

Despite being so stern, she loves her crew -- and you -- like family.

She does, however, expect you to know everything there is to know about staying safe while aboard a ship.

^She gives you surprise drills nearly every week. You have, in fact, been thrown overboard in a mock "walk the plank" situation to test your stranded-at-sea know-how (over safe, shallow waters, that is).

She always smells of the sea -- a salty tang that kicks at the back of your throat -- and ocean water may as well flow through her veins.

On clear nights, Captain Ice will usually remain on deck long after the sun goes down, watching the stars.

She can teach you every constellation in the night sky. Stay with her long enough, and she'll teach you the stories behind them.

She's not much for reminiscing, but she has quite a few tales from her years out at sea -- you just have to ask about them.

Despite the naturally husky voice, Captain Ice has some pipes. she can belt out sea shanties like a superstar. Of course, you'll have to get her very drunk before she'll so much as change her cadence.

Captain Ice writes poetry. She thinks nobody knows. The whole crew knows.

^^From what she's shown you, her poetry is very minimalist. Harsh, boldfaced words in barked sentence fragments, like breathless commands from a strained chest.

You told her you liked her poetry. The next day, you woke up to a note on your pillow.

I write for almost every crk character (with the exception of unreleased ones and Angel Cookie), so of course I’ll fill your need for Frost Queen parental fluffies 💕!!

Also I filled up an entire page in my notebook of notes for this so lol it’s a little l o n g- I didn’t even put all the notes I had written down into here as well, mostly because tired, so jsbdhe-

~| Frost Queen will not be good at any of this. She is not kind, she is not motherly, and she is not warm. When you first came to her, either as her own or adopted, she had no clue what to do. She will be nervous, and practically speechless, when she’s first holding you.

~| She has absolutely zero clue on how to take care of and raise a child. The frost children who come to her never ask her for anything, a lot of the times she doesn’t even have to do much but watch, so when you start crying, she will have zero clue what to do. Frost Queen often asks the other legendary cookies (sometimes even regular cookies) what to do with you.

~| Despite her coldness, she will be overprotective. When she considers you hers, you’re going to be hers alone, and hers forever. She wants to keep you forever, and she will, believe me. She will do whatever it takes to make sure you always stay with her.

~| She doesn’t let you out of her sight at all. You have to constantly be with her 24/7, or she has to know where you are and that you’re safe and sound, and you have to be close enough for her to check up on you. A lot of the times when you’re in a room or sleeping she’ll just open the door or peek in ever so slightly to make sure you’re still there.

~| Her palace is very cold- it’s literally made of ice- and she knows it. She may not be able to feel cold herself, but she will know when you are. She’s seen cookies come into her palace, she knows what they look like when they’re cold. Frost Queen will literally go to the nearest town and demand all of their blankets, or as much as she can carry- what are they going to do, so no to the immortal frost witch that plagues their urban legends?

~| She is not good at showing affection at all, physical or emotional. She isn’t much for touching, nor does she have a lot of time to give. Often times, she leaves you little ice sculptures, often of things you tell her you like or she sees you fawning over. Her love language is mostly just gift giving. If you want something, she’ll do everything in her power (which is a lot lol) to get it for you.

~| Sadly, Frost Queen is very stressed out, and she has taken that out on you a few times before. It doesn’t happen much, but if she’s too overwhelmed, she will yell at you. She may also use her imposing stature to scare you, but she would not physically harm you.

~| She has a very good memory, she’ll remember things you did two weeks ago, eight months ago, or even five years ago. Every moment she’s around you she always seems to be watching you, just silently staring and processing every little thing you do into her mind and storing it in her memory.

~| If you’re a good, quiet kid she will let you sit with her in her throne room. Occasionally, she may let you sit or lay on your lap. As long as you do not disturb her during or work or while she is thinking, she will allow you to stay.

~| Frost Queen doesn’t like to touch you much, and often doesn’t. This isn’t just because of her cold, non-touch affectionate nature, but also because she is worried of you getting cold from her hands. She often has the cold breeze swirling around her, and her skin is frozen to the touch. She does not feel cold herself, but she knows she radiates it, and thus will not set her hands on you very often for fear of you getting frostbite or simply being cold.

~| If she does touch you, though (most likely after assuring her you’re fine with the cold along with wearing gloves just to make sure), she often holds your hand. She finds this small gesture so comforting- it tells her that you’re right there, beside her, that she has control over you while still allowing you to be a free spirit. She knows where you are when you are, and that’s mostly what she wants.

~| Sadly, you probably won’t have many cookie friends. Being the child of the literal frost witch known to steal children and adults alike, a lot of cookies will be scared of you because of your mom- or simply for fear that you’ll become like her. Most of your friends will probably be animals- deer, arctic foxes, snow hares, etcetera. When she can, Frost Queen liked to take you out to pet the animals.

~| Will not hesitate to hurt anyone who harms you. It doesn’t matter if it’s on accident, if they so much as bruise you, she will break their arm- if they’re a mortal threat to you, she has no problem with putting them to an icy end. She is not good at comforting you, or even healing you, but she will defend you, you can count on that.

~| If you’re ever scared, you can always hide in her robes. Frost Queen loves it when you come to her for comfort (even if she can’t provide it) and/or protection, and she will guard you with her life. She’ll hide you in her robes and allow you to watch her daily life.

~| She’ll sit with you if you have a nightmare or can’t sleep. A lot of the times, she’ll tell you stories, often with dark or angsty endings, but she throws in a happy ending, even in a tragedy, if you request it. She is an amazing storyteller- she describes everything in just enough details for you to picture it, and she is very good at making up stories on the spot as well.

~| She will try her absolute best to explain her job to you, if you’re confused by it- how it’s natural, how it keeps the world’s order in place. How the frost children come to her willingly to help with the world’s maintenance. She doesn’t care if you support it or not, but she will not stop her job on your request. She may love you immensely, but she still has to do her job, even if it upsets you.

~| If she ever thinks you’ll run away or leave her, she is not afraid to lock you in your room for days on end. She will not let you out until she is 100% convinced that you won’t do something rash or stupid. She wants to keep you there with her, forever, and she will always try to keep you there. She’ll bring you food, water, and blankets though, she will still care for your needs, even if you try to get away from her.

~| She loves you more than she let’s on, and you can see it in the little things she does- how differently she treats you from others, how she seems a little warmer to you, despite still having the frigid persona. You melt her frozen heart, you have ever since she first held her, even if it’s not by much, you make her just a little bit warmer, just a little bit happier.

~| She is not afraid to shut you down if you’re rebellious. Again, going back to the locking you in your room. Don’t destroy her stuff, she’ll get really angry and may not let you out of your room for months.

~| When trying to comfort you, Frost Queen use logical points- which often don’t work because comforting is linked to emotional feelings. At least she’s trying? “What’s the point in crying?” “You’re going to be fine later, so don’t worry about this.” “Don’t cry. You’ll dehydrate yourself. It’s just a waste of water.”

~| Overall just a mother who will try her best to take care of you, and fail over and over. Occasionally, though, she does this ‘motherly’ thing right, and gets to bond with you. Frost Queen loves you in her own, icy way.

I have all these gush passes now and by the holy dough i WILL use them!

Now once again - GOSH i love my friends!! I've done a bunch of reorganising and redecorating so i think everyone's a bit happier with the place! I decided to place some snow around since where i'm from there never is any- and Thanksgiving made me get a bit excited for X-mas. (Well, that and Eggnog and Tiramisu being extraordinarily festive prematurely. They even got Wizard and Muscle to put on their costumes!!)

It made Cotton, Captain Ice and Snow Sugar very happy, though it seems to have summoned a bunch of people to my kingdom!?! Why are Crunchy Chip and Frost Queen here???

Anyway, i point this out because MY DEAR SPINCH!! I have asked Sour Belt, Chocolate Bonbon and Mont Blanc to help her out, seeing as she is a vegetable cookie and i got worried about how she might get cold.. She looks adorable in her fluffy coat and earmuffs by the way!

She is so so lovely, always worrying about my health and offering me veggies and fruits. I actually did catch a cold recently and she's been giving me dried apple slices and various kinds of tea 🥺 So yes, i thought i'd return her kindness by helping her out like this.

I'm a bit nervous because i think she might suspect my feelings since i'm.. quite obvious *motioning to my pink cheeks* but i adore her so much i just can't help it!!☆

They agree to help her and they find Jade

Once over Jade makes a promise to visit Lian once all this blows over
