Jaune: *sigh, sitting inside Raven's newly appointed office* When you told me you were planning to keep an eye on me, i was expecting you to be talking about your bird form. Like you were already doing.

Raven: *feet up on her desk, smirking* What? You don't like my teaching methods?

Jaune: *chuckle* Oh i'm not complaining; i feel as if Ms Goodwitch is being too lax on us all the time. *Sigh, shaking his head* She never smacks the smartassness out of my or Yang's mouths.

Raven: *laughing loudly* If you think i'm violent, go ask Qrow about the "Vytal incident". *Sigh* She might LOOK uptight, but there's a fucking good reason for why even Qrow and i respect her.

Jaune: ... For real?

Raven: *shrug* She's got more patience than anyone i know, but that's only because she knows how bad she was herself. *Smirk* You probably remind her of herself when she was your age. *Scratch her chin pensively* Which wasn't THAT long ago, all things considered.

Jaune: *frown* Wait... How old is she?

Raven: Late 20's i think. She was a student at Signal when Taiyang began teaching there.

Jaune: *smirk* So your ex taught my teacher how to fight? The world is small indeed, right?

Raven: *wince* Could you not call him my ex?

Jaune: That... Never bothered you before. *Confused* Why the change?

Raven: *sigh* It's just that... *Put her legs down from the table, taking a more serious posture* Since i told you who i was to you... And who he would have been to you...

Jaune: *Rolling his eyes* Does it really change anything? Will i suddenly have memories of a paternal figure who cares about me the moment I see him?

Raven: ...

Jaune: *Sigh* Look, you are my mom and i always saw you as such. But Taiyang? *Shrug* I never even met the guy. To me, he's literally just your ex, like you told me more than once.

Raven: But-

Jaune: *Point her with an authoritative finger* You always took care of me as if i was your son in the first place. If you asked me to call you mom from now on, i'd understand. But him? *Scratch his head* Unlike for you, i had no idea i was even related to him in the first place until you told me.

Raven: *Mumbling* I wouldn't mind if you did call me mom... *Sigh* I guess i can't blame you for seeing him as just "my ex"… Even though we ARE technically still married-

Jaune: *Blink, still in shock from what he just heard* Wait... You want me to call you mom? For real?

Raven: ... *blush furiously* I said i wouldn't mind, ok!? I never said i wanted you to call me as such!

Jaune: *Smirk* Sure thing, mom~.

Raven: *hiding her face in the palm of her hands* Nevermind, this is too embarrassing.

Jaune: *scoff* And get rid of such magnificent teasing material? You must be out of your mind, dearest mother-

Sure did! Can you guess who my favorite is? ;) I base their character designs on WFA, recent comics (esp Dan Mora + Jorge Jimenez), and my own style. They're actually pretty neat for a character design study.

Y'all may disagree, but Bruce is a fictional character. So, with the classist bs DC has been saying about Jason, we can say that any classist shit Bruce has ever said about Jaybin is more DC speaking through him than his actual character. And also, it is weird af to have a man that believes in infinite second chances and bad guys becoming good, to also believes children born from criminals will become criminals. The math isn't mathing, DC.

Anyway, 80s Bruce loved his studious adorable baby that stole his tires, and he has admitted his reasoning behind taking Jason in was "I miss having a kid around" and not actually "Jason will become a criminal if I don't intervene".

Ruby: *being grabbed by her cloak, then slammed down on the ring to finally feel the ice cold touch of Augure on her neck* Urgh...

Jaune: *sigh, sheathing back his sword* You good?

Ruby: *sitting up, looking ashamed* Yeah...

Jaune: *shake his head* Don't take it personal, Ruby. I'm just more experienced than you, that's all.

Ruby: But it doesn't make sense! I can beat everyone BUT you! And you have lost to both of our teammates but i still can't win! Why?

Jaune: *helping her up* Well, if i have to explain it in lame terms, it's because you are too good for your own good.

Ruby: ... What?

Jaune: *shrug* Like i said, i have far more experience than you. I've been fighting for my life since i was a kid. But you? You're already here, in Beacon, at the age of 15.

Ruby: What does it have to do with me being unable to beat you!? That should even be a point for me!

Jaune: *shake his head* Ruby, when you were in school, how many kids were as good as you?

Ruby: *smirk* I was the best, so nobody was-

Jaune: *cutting her off, poking her forehead* Exactly! *Crossing his arms, a little smile on his face* Meanwhile, i had to train with a girl that was far better than myself and a teacher who didn't know what "going easy" meant. *Sigh* I'm not as strong as Nora or Yang, not as Agile as Blake, Ren or Weiss, and i certainly don't have yours or Pyrrha's talent.

Ruby: *frown* Then what am i lacking!?

Jaune: *shrug* Danger awareness, mostly. *Flick her head* You never hit yourself on a wall before and now, you keep trying the same tactics that work on almost everyone else. *Chuckle* It just happens that my reflexes are fast enough to counter you even when you use your semblance.

Ruby: *rubbing her forehead, grimacing* So, what should i do then?

Jaune: I don't know, you tell me! You are your best teacher, after all. *Pensive* But... If i had to give you a hint, maybe going in melee against me is a bad idea?

Ruby: But bullets are almost useless on you! And i don't have an unlimited amount of ammo!

Jaune: *shrug* Maybe you don't use the right kind of ammunition at the right time? I'm not a teacher after all. *Pat her head, smiling* In any case, it's not as if going against you was easy either. *Chuckle* You do make me use Augure a lot, after all. *Grin, looking towards the other students, speaking a bit louder* Which is not something a lot of our class can do!

Ruby: *wincing at the death stares Jaune was getting from the other students* Maybe you shouldn't trigger them that much.

Jaune: *smirk* Eh, a bit of anger is always needed for some healthy competition. *Chuckle* And if they beat me, that will give them a lot of bragging rights!

Ngl it's kinda worrying seeing some people get sad and/or upset that the M9 animated series designs don't feature fanon details that were never.... canon to begin with?

I totally get wishing that your particular headcanon about their appearances show up in the animated designs, heck there are some fanon interpretations of character appearances that I think are super cute and I'd have been thrilled if they were for some reason incorporated in the canon designs!

But like..... some people are like idk gaslighting themselves that certain traits were totally part of the character's canon designs when they never were and were just popular fanon and are getting disappointed about it not showing up.
