so many posts about 'have you considered Literally Any Other TTRPG' overcorrect so strongly for dnd's market saturation that they push really aggressively into 'dnd sucks shit and EVERYONE should ALWAYS play literally any other game', and as a bona-fide DnD Liker it always makes me kneejerk defensive in turn whenever I see a 'try other games' take

but sometimes I think about how apparently my one friend told justin that wrt her own DMing style she 'loves to present players with impossible situations and then Just See What Happens together 😊' and I'm like. ooooohhhh those posts are for YOU

#friend with a strong improv theater background: I think dnd is about Imaginationing your way into and out of everything #with nothing but the power of Yes And uwu #me‚ stressed: actually dnd has rules #this is reflected in the way she plays as a player also #I've probably posted about this before lol but Man.#'let's creatively talk through the encounter together narratively' sounds fun actually! but is a whole ass different ttrpg #improv in dnd is for ROLEPLAY! it's not for STRUCTURE! the game HAS AN ACTUAL STRUCTURE PLEASE--#I know we're all playing dnd as a collaborative storytelling game and I love to play it that way but it IS also still dnd #Pure Collaborate Storytelling Games exist! just play that instead if you don't actually like the dnd parts of dnd!!
