the smallest flock
i drew this back in november, but im trying a new thing where drawings go up around the same time that the corresponding speedpaint also goes up. for some reason around thanksgiving, i frequently draw various characters curled up in piles together, sleeping, and this year, im glad to have been able to draw quino, malikite and frieda doing just that the day before the aforementioned holiday.
this drawing is sort of an acute representation of what i want my book and the others in the series to have a strong focus on at the core. theres a lot more to it than that, but its always good and important to remember that this story started in my mind as a girl adventuring with two dragon friends who love her like she's one of them.
also, below the cut is a small ramble on the concept of what a flock is in the dragon culture of constellations. you dont have to read it if you're not interested, but it's there for the curious. i dont claim its original in the slightest, but i still think its neat. hope you enjoy the speedpaint if thats something you like :)
the concept of family can oftentimes be confusing to those not familiar with dragons and their possessive nature. humans in particular tend to confuse the possessiveness with their own definition of the word (i.e. ownership being that of control and power over a person, material or land, etc). for dragons, they refer to their family as a "flock", which is oftentimes used more among windwarpers, who are more likely to form large examples of these
a flock among windwarpers (the kind of dragon malikite is) functions essentially as a way to protect the young, but also to derive emotional companionship and support. flock members do not need to share a drop of blood between them, nor even be of the same species. a flock simply Is, as demonstrated in the above picture
flock members are known to be particularly ride-or-die. quino and malikite will do everything in their power to keep each other and frieda safe, whether that be throwing themselves before danger, hunting for their perceived "weaker" member or being particularly vindictive if someone or something were to attack them. in universe, its theorized by the dredewren islanders that this is a more extreme version of the bond dragons used to share with each other before the Pits existed. likely, it ensures the collective species' continued survival and may even be a remnant of the time from before the bipedal or "two-legged" species existed
needless to say, quino and mali regard frieda as "theirs" in a way that they regard each other as "theirs" and vice versa. for ownership to a dragon is not one of control, but rather a pledge to take care of the thing. one cannot claim something as theirs without being willing and fully invested to take care of said thing, whether that be another dragon, a human girl they fell in love with (platonically) or bits of discarded stained glass they found on the ground.
these three are by far, possibly the smallest and strangest example of a dragon flock, but that in no way diminishes the love they each share for each other :)

Thoughts on OITNB S6
I gotta say those last 15 minutes were a roller coaster. Good and bad things happened so I had many conflicting feelings which I’m sure is what they wanted. Overall I enjoyed the season so here are some thoughts I have about the season 6. Spoilers ahead!
Gotta say this first: VAUSEMAN WEDDING. They’re married and I’m so happy about that. They love each other so much and I’m confident that they will make it.
Still confused as to why Fig hired guards with PTSD from war and from the riot. That just screams bad idea. I feel bad for McCollough but she needs to take responsibility for herself and take herself out of a situation that could trigger her which could result in her or someone else getting hurt. Her saying that she would’ve shot the women if she had a gun on her should’ve been the push she needed to take leave from the prison.
Speaking of guards, I’m glad Pennsatucky left Donuts. I could never have accepted her being with him and I don’t think the show did their storyline well at all. I get trying to be complex, but there’s nothing complex about a guard raping a prisoner and the prisoner not just forgiving the guard, but falling for him and running away with him.
Love Pennsatucky and Suzanne’s friendship. They should get a buddy cop movie
I hope Frieda learns how to have friends.
The first episode was very enlightening since we got to see how Suzanne views the world. It was sweet, funny, and heartbreaking.
Healy basically choosing to absolve himself of all the fucked up things he did in Litchfield is crappy and unsurprising
I’m here for Alex calling Piper “babe”
Cindy testifying against Taystee was awful, but she is a victim of the justice system which made her turn against her friend. If she didn’t, she’d get more time. The AUSAs and FBI were basically extorting testimony
Flaca didn’t really get much to do this season but her words of wisdom to Cindy in the last episode were wonderful
Loved seeing the gang (Piper, Alex, Nicky, Lorna) back together for the wedding. Nicky and Lorna have been with vauseman since the beginning. It’s only fitting that they’re there for the wedding.
I rewatched the last few eps of season 5 in preparation for this. In the last ep, Alex asked Red if the riot was worth it. I think this s6 answered that question. They were separated. They were sent to max. Some of them were given 10 more years and some got life. Blanca was thrown to ICE. MCC is thriving. The guards are still dicks. No justice was gotten for Poussey. In my opinion, the riot was not worth it.
At the end of last season, some of us were worried that Kubra saw the video of Alex and would try to kill her again. Apparently Kubra doesn’t watch the news, isn’t on social media, or notices when one of his people disappears.
We’re all in agreement that Madison aka Badison is the worst, right?
It was nice of the show to let Alex/Piper and Nicky/Lorna be in the same block.
Piper really does need Alex. Alex was her rock all season. Always calm, collected, and reassuring. I don’t think Piper would’ve survived prison without her. It’d be nice to get the chance to see her try to survive the outside world without Alex.
Alex being so protective of Piper was super sweet.
Lorna going all gangster was weird, disturbing, and amusing. I guess it’s possible to rationalize that joining a gang would give her people that’d protect her.
Nicky stayed sober! In Max! Where drugs are everywhere! I’m so proud of her. She was there for everyone who needed her. Blanca, Lorna, Red, Barb. Nicky is one of the most reliable people on the show. Her struggle with turning on Red was hard to watch because you knew she’d feel bad no matter what choice she made.
Nicky protecting Lorna by leaving her in the closet was amazing. She knew that she could possibly die during kickball, but protecting Lorna was more important.
Any yet something goes wrong. It seems like Lorna is going into labor even though she’s only 7 months pregnant. And there was blood on her uniform as she was taken to medical. As if the end of this season didn’t need more drama and tragedy.
Red is her own worst enemy. It;s like she needs someone to hate so she had something to do. Everyone needs something to do in prison to bid their time but Red’s distraction ruins her connection to the people she loves. I’m so pissed at her for choosing to attack Frieda over seeing her grandchildren. I hope to see her forgive her prison family in s7 and work towards making amends to her family on the outside. She needs to stop focusing on power and vengeance and start focusing on family.
Lorna’s disregard of Red was awful. She said something about how Red wasn’t useful anymore. In season 2, Red was on the outs with her prison family and she figured that it was because she wasn’t useful anymore. It sucks that people in her family (at least Lorna) only care about Red when they can get something out of her.
I have no idea what the deal with Gloria and Luschek is. Didn’t really like it but I didn’t dislike it.
Part of me is annoyed with Daya for joining the gang, dealing drugs, and acting like a jerk. Part of me has no problem with it. Girl’s got life in prison. She’s gotta survive it however she can. I just want her to survive it without being an asshole.
I’m not sure how I feel about Daya being the one used to showcase the opioid crisis. I also really don’t like her relationship with Daddy. It’s completely based on sex, drugs, and power. And while Daddy cares, she doesn’t care enough to stop dealing drugs even though it’s hurting Daya.
I respect Aledia for choosing to continue sending drugs into the prison even though her daughter is a junkie. It’s weird that we’re in a place where something like this is respectable. Aleida has to get her other kids. She can’t risk her shot at getting custody back on Daya. Especially when Daya has no problem with how things are going. It was heartbreaking to see her come to decision to basically give up on Daya, but it showed how strong she was.
I just found out the Cindy’s Secret Agent song is from the Backyardigans. I’d love to know how the writers came up with the idea of sing that song.
I loved that Maria made the choice to be good at the end. It seemed like she lost all hope of getting out in season 4 because she thought she had more time added to her sentence.
I really hope Taystee can forgive Cindy eventually. Not right away cause getting convicted for something you didn’t do and being sentenced to life is probably not gonna put her in a forgiving mood.
I’m gonna need Taystee to appeal her conviction and win so there can be some justice. The show owes us that. If Poussey can’t get justice then Taystee needs to
I do hope that Piper writes the memoir but itd be interesting to see how she frames the kickball game since she never knew about the bloodbath that almost happened. I also want to see her become an advocate from prisoner rights
The show needs to follow Blanca and not drop this immigration detention centers story line they’ve started. Since the show is trying to demonstrate real life issues and their results, I doubt they’re gonna let Blanca have a happy ending but I’m still going to hold out hope. She and Diablo deserve to have their family.
A highlight at the end was seeing Sophia be released early with 300K. I don’t think the show ever really finished her story since she just dropped off the show and came back every now and then. She deserved this happy ending and I hope we don’t see her again. I’m afraid they’ll add drama to her life.
I saw an article talk about how this show makes freedom seem relative to each person’s situation. With Pennsatucky, she was free but not free. She had to wear a disguise and was beholden to what Donuts wanted. Aleida is free but she can’t do the things she wants to. She can’t afford a place to live for her and her kids and she can’t get a job. She has to resort to dealing drugs to have a chance at getting what she wants. She’s back to doing what landed her in prison while Pennsatucky actually ends up back in prison and seems happier for it.
The show really made the point that Taystee and Piper are the co-leads of the show, especially with their scene in the salon. They both dealth with crap this season, but Piper got early release while Taystee was convicted of a murder she didn’t commit. And even if Taystee got out, she would have a harder time than Piper at having a good life. I hope the show makes a point to show the contrast between Piper and Aleida as they try to have a life on the outside.
Overall, this season was really good. It wasn’t as cluttered as season 5 and that was partially thanks to writing off some characters. The last 15-20 minutes had a lot going on which left me with conflicting feelings. I’m really excited for next season. It seems like the show is winding down but I’m not sure they can resolve everyone’s story in just season 7 but I shall not doubt this show. I know they want to be realistic, but I’m gonna need most of these characters to get as happy an ending as possible.
I hope we get to see the characters that weren’t in this season again just so we can have a proper goodbye with them.
Just remembered something else. A great moment this season was seeing Boo and seeing Linda get her head shaved. Couldn’t have happened to a better person. Not surprised that her time in prison didn’t change her views on how to treat inmates.
Thanks for reading all this. I’m here to talk about the show if anyone wants to. And you can check out my season 6 Vauseman rant here. I had a lot to say about them and didn’t want to clog this too much. I wish everyone luck on surviving this hiatus.

Orange Is The New Black season 7 wish list:
Since everything points to season 7 being the last season, here’s a loyal fan’s wish list for the last 13 episodes:
I want Lorna’s baby to be okay and I want her to name it Nicky (if it’s a girl) or Nick (if it’s a boy). Nicky deserves the homage after everything she did to keep Lorna and the baby safe.
I want to see the important inmates getting released from prison. Maybe a few time jumps will do the trick?
Alex and Piper not having a happy ending after everything they have been through seems pointless and absurd. Let them have a real-world wedding with their Friends and a honeymoon in Fiji or Iceland.
It’s probably a long shot but please no Larry or Polly.
More Cal.
I need to see the chicken one last time. PLEASE.
Obviously I want Taystee to be cleared of Piscatella’s murder.
Some people may hate me for this but I’d like to see Frieda dying. Her death would be so meaningful as it’s the last season.
MORE ADEOLA.
Bring back Boo, Maritza, Watson and Abdullah for at least one episode. I missed them so much in season 6.
Give Nicky a happy ending for Christ’s sake. I’m begging you.
Either give Daya something important to do or kill her off. Her character has no purpose anymore.
Aleida needs to recover her kids. Even though she is a terrible mother she has done her best to recover them.
Someone needs to stick a shiv in Badison’s throat.
I want Piper to write her book. It would be such a nice closure for the show.
Gloria also needs a happy ending with her kids.
Red needs to make up with Alex, especially since she didn’t do anything wrong.
I NEED TO KNOW BLANCA IS OKAY. EVEN IF SHE DOES GET DEPORTED I NEED TO SEE HER AGAIN.
Caputo and Fig need to marry or something.
Linda deserves to rot in hell for being such a bitch. Make her suffer!
I have three possible scenarios to save Taystee:
Scenario #1: her defense asks for an appeal, the other inmates that were inside the bunker are asked to testify and they contradict Cindy’s testimony. She is declared an unreliable witness and the whole process goes down because she was the prosecution’s main witness. Taystee gets 10 years added to her sentence for leading the riot but at least it’s not life.
Scenario #2: the guard that actually shot Piscatella confesses. He tells the truth about how they altered the crime scene and Cindy isn’t accused of perjury. Taystee gets out in 10+ years for leading the riot. In my opinion this is the best solution.
Scenario #3: Piper finds out about Taystee’s trial. Still shaken by what Taystee told her at the saloon she decides to help her by exposing the system. She writes her book and denounces the abuse the inmates suffer at the hands of the guards and does research on Hermann, the leader of the storm squad. She and Caputo discover something dirty about him, they blackmail him or present the evidence to the media and the prosecution drops the charges (I’m not a lawyer, I don’t know if this scenario would work but a woman has dreams, okay?)
Scenario #4 (bonus): somebody else takes the blame for Piscatella’s death. Frieda, maybe? In exchange for some benefits of course.
I want Piper to create a foundation that helps former inmates get a job. As she learns of her friends’ release she invites them to work with her and she helps them set up a business of their own.
That’s pretty much it. If I think of any other wish I will edit this post.

Okay fuck it. Sit up in bed junky we explaining this shit to @f1yogurt . (Yes, I actually wrote a lot of this yesterday at night, cause I have no self control)
Way back in the early 2000s there were those YA and kids novels, 'Die wilden Hühner' (the wild chickens) and 'Die Wilden Kerle' (the wild soccer bunch... there is an english translation)
Die Wilden Hühner:
- A clique of five girls who go about their day to day life (Sprotte, Frieda, Trude, Melanie and Wilma)
- They have a rivalring gang of four boys, the 'pygmies' (Fred, Willie, Torte and Steve)
- The girl gang's whole deal is that they love chicken (and I mean as pets, not to eat. They take an oath where they actually swear off from eating chicken)
- One book is about the boys trying to break into the house of Sprotte's grammys, to steal her treasure (that grammy is actually quite the cunt)
- Another one is about the girls saving that aforementioned grandmothers chickens, as the grandmother wants to slaughter them (the chickens)
- It deals with a lot of adulting, and problems kids could be dealing with, like: parental abandonement (as Sprotte's dad walked out on her and her mom), having only one parent (like Sprotte), divorce of parents (for Trude), physical abuse through the parent (for Willie), loss of job for a parent and the consequences of that for the family (for Melanie) teenager relationships in general.
- It even deals with homosexuality, as in the last book Wilma figures out she only likes girls. The girls have to deal with coming to terms with that, there is a big falling out between Wilma and Melanie. The author, Cornelia Funke, has a really great way of dealing with this issue. A very dignified and understanding way.
- There were five books, that they made into three movies (though we mostly ignore the third one, as it destroyed a lot of our beloved characters #notmyfred)
Die wilden Kerle (the wild soccer bunch):
- A clique of boys who only eat, sleep and prey soccer
- There was a book series (but I never read those) and 6 movies (though the newest is more of a remake)
- Yes, all those books and movies are basically about playing soccer and having adventures
- In the first movie they have to play against the 'dicke michie' (fat michie) to get their soccer field back
- They are joined by a girl in the first one, Vanessa. ('holy shit' I know. But at that age that was really 'holy shit')
- In the second one they wanna play against the german national team, and Vanessa leaves for a period to be with that skater boy 'Gonzo Gonzales' (who was a discount Cpt. Jack Sparrow. And all of our girls hearts were broken, cause we wanted her to be with Leon. Motherfucker, even Vanessa's actress didn't want for Vanessa to be with Gonzo. #teamleon)
(Look at him. Apparently they actually showed the actor pirates of the carribean and told him to copy Jack)
- Third one is about an old member of the bunch and his all girls team challenging the boys.
- Forth one had some weird soccer match at 'Ragnarök' with some wolf themed team and 'Silberlichten'... I never understood that one.
- And the fifth one had vampires bro.
- They had those cool curses, „Kackeverdammte“, „Hottentotten Albtraumnacht“, „Shitte nochmal“, „Kaninchen Wattebausch Bommelschwanz Po“, „Schwabbelbauch“.
- There are concepts in the movies, especially later on, that make you think, 'is this shit supernatural'.
- Gonzo in the second one for example is working with and worshipping this witch, 'Staraja riba'.
- The 'Silberlichten' in the fourth one are... I have no fucking clue what they are.
- THERE ARE FUCKING VAMPIRES IN THE FIFTH ONE MAN! (they were completely riding the twilight wave back then)
Anyways, back then you were either a 'Wildes Huhn' or a 'Wilder Kerl'.
We actually had cliques like them. We wore necklaces with chicken feathers like 'Die Wilden Hühner'. I don't know if boys had one ear ring like the pygmies. 'Die Wilden Kerle' had so much merchandise.
It was just a huge thing, and quite literally influenced a whole generation of us.
#german childhood#german things#just german things#personal#die wilden hühner#die wilden kerle#the wilde hühner fandom is alife and well on here btw#just hit up their tag and see for yourself#i still have those audio books#die wilden hühner had a whole ass secret language with code words#die wilden kerle rode and stiled their bicycles like fucking motorcycles#and in the last two movies they actually rode motorcycles#who had a clique like that back then#cause me and two friends we actually did#we called ourselfs 'the feathers'#and we wanted to write a YA novel about drug deals on a hprse farm🤔🤦♂️

hi sunny! i was wondering if you could help me out with an fc. she's around 23-26 and is a surfer chick studying marine biology. really laidback but also adventurous, extremely loyal. reluctantly being groomed to take over the family business, she's expected to dress a certain way and associate with certain people. but she hates that stuff. i like the beachy vibe abbey cowen has, but she doesn't have very many good resources imo. any help would be appreciated! thank you!! have a good one :)
hi there! of course i can! i have managed to come up with ( 32 ) fcs that could fit this kind of vibe! you can find them under the cut! hope this helps!!

Tasteofhome.com EditorsNovember 30, 2018
Want to change up your morning cup? The Taste of Home Test Kitchen shares two easy methods for making spiced coffee.
If you’ve been around at all in the past few years, you’ve probably tasted the mother of all spiced coffees: pumpkin spice. The annual arrival of the pumpkin spice latte generates as much fanfare as a hero returning from battle.
Thing is, it’s easy to make spiced coffee at home, any day of the year. (Much cheaper, too.) You can also think beyond the pie spice and use your favorite spices, alone in or in combination, for fantastic flavor. Spices like cinnamon and cardamom impart warm, cozy notes, while star anise or ginger impart a more powerful flavor twist.
Let’s get started. No fancy cardboard cups necessary. (Dare we suggest a slice of coffee cake on the side?)
Psst! Taste of Home has a brand-new coffee line! Get your free sample here.
How to Make Spiced Coffee: Two Methods
Method 1: Spice Up the Coffee Grounds
You’ll need:
1/3 cup ground coffee (not instant coffee granules)
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or other spice. Cardamom, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, allspice and star anise pair well with coffee.
Step 1: Sprinkle grounds with spice
Combine coffee with ground cinnamon or other spice in the filter basket of your coffee maker. We used a drip coffeemaker, but you can also spice up coffe made in a French press, Chemex, pour-over or other method.
Step 2: Brew
Prepare coffee as usual. You’ll get about four cups.
Step 3: Enjoy!
Enjoy as usual-black, or with cream and sugar. Want to go over the top? Combine spiced coffee with spiced milk.
Method 2: Spice Up the Milk
You’ll need:
Coffee, spiced or regular
1 cup 2% milk
2 to 3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cinnamon sticks, optional
Whipped cream, optional
Step 1: Combine Ingredients and Warm
Combine the milk, sugar, cocoa and vanilla in a saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes, or until small bubbles appear on the sides of the pan. Stir occasionally to keep the heat even and prevent scorching on the bottom. Don’t let the milk boil!
Step 2: Add Coffee
Pour the hot milk mixture into four coffee cups and add coffee. The milk adds rich mocha flavor to regular coffee. Spiced coffee + spiced milk = extra delicious.
Step 3 (Optional): Gild the Lily.
Garnish your mugs with cinnamon sticks and whipped cream for a decadent dessert-like treat. Serving an after-dinner drink? Add 1-2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur to the mug. Want a summery version? Just chill the spiced coffee and milk until cool, then pour over ice.

To make the ice cream topping easier to drizzle, put it in a squeeze bottle, take the cap off and microwave for a few seconds. —Carol Mann, Summerfield, Florida

Everyone Can Appreciate A Good Flower Field
drew these two because i realized i dont draw them nearly as much anymore. in drawing this, i also realized i dont know how to paint flowers lmao. thank you people on cps who make flower brushes, i love you.
this is more like a bonus drawing for this month since i was in the mood. i dont want to jinx my energy levels but ive been slowly getting more motivation to do things, even if most of what i do is fight to knit socks on the tiniest needles known to god. drawing is a nice little break from that though :) i hope you enjoy!
EDIT: speedpaint is now available, hope you like it

in memorium
i think this is the first time ive ever actually drawn him properly on the computer but he's been living in my sketchbooks for at least 2 years now. this is callum gonzales; frieda's deceased older brother. he favored their mother in looks mostly, though he tended to be far more cautious than his adventurous, near fearless little sister. he preferred to be by himself when he could and didn't have many friends. frieda utterly adored him and has very fond memories of him allowing her to do whatever she wanted as long as she didnt break anything
callum died pushing her out of the way of dragonfire when a random Firespitter decided to have an afternoon lunch when she was about 10 years old frieda still bears a scar from that day on her shoulder, and the family itself split after his death. these days, frieda and her father; hector, dont speak of callum much or her mother, who left shortly after it was announced frieda herself would make a full recovery from her burns. hector keeps the last school picture callum ever had taken on an ofrenda in his bedroom. always, there are fresh flowers and a lit candle.
at any rate, that's all i have on him now :) there is an accompanying speedpaint to this if youre interested. i meant to have a different drawing up but im having a bit of a tough time envisioning the background rn, so this will have to do. hope you enjoy! :D
