Homesick for Bolivia again. La Paz, I wish to be there.
I wish to stand on the edge from Ciudad Satelite and look over the sprawling city at dusk, the lights coming on and glowing like stars, catching glimpses from Illimani's peak. I wish to see the familiar route down from El Alto to my aunt's apartment again. I even wish the burn of little air as I go up the flights of stairs to said apartment slowly so I don't get altitude sickness.
I want to be walking the streets at noon and stop to buy some salteñas potosinas. I want to stop by the family's favorite fricasé restaurant to buy enough for the family, and then take the minibus back up the slope. I want to drink trimate and spend time with my cousins - see their more recent art, discuss artists, share videos. I want to walk down a street and see the retama blooming.

Día 12
Hoy tuvimos una visita a casa de una chica de 19 años que ha dejado de entregar sus trabajos de clase y el departamento social está preocupado. Se le dio opción de la modalidad a distancia porque es madre de una niña de tres años, su familia la echó de casa y tiene que trabajar a la par que estudiar. Al parecer, según ella, el problema es que algunos profes no le mandaron la tarea y además necesita que la casera le preste el wifi para poder recibir y entregar los trabajos… vive de alquiler con su pequeña en un habitación en un altillo de un local donde solamente tiene una cama. El baño está aparte de la casa y es compartido y no tiene cocina, siempre comen fuera. La situación es muy mala y lo que tratan desde SAL es conseguir que siga estudiando y se saque el bachiller porque aquí es imprescindible para todo.
Al regresar de la visita, hicimos unas compras de comida y regresamos al centro. Los chavales estaban acabando de preparar unas manualidades para hacer los centros de mesa que se pondrán en la cena del viernes. Después quisieron jugar al wally en un local que se alquila allí al lado. Yo desconocía ese deporte, es como el vóley pero en el que la cancha y las paredes se utilizan también para hacer puntos. Finalmente el local estaba cerrado y regresamos a hacer un postre con ellos.
Yo ya me tenía que venir a casa porque los hermanos comen a las 12:30 y de camino me encontré con Natxo y con Martín que habían ido a otra ciudad a comprar carne de ternera para la cena del viernes porque allí está a mitad de precio que en El Alto y ya fuimos juntos a casa. Hoy comimos fricasé de pollo: tiene mote de maíz blanco, chuño (patata deshidratada) y un caldo con pollo. La verdad es que no me entusiasmó mucho, no tenía mucho sabor a pesar que picaba un poquito.
Por la tare estaba cansada y me quedé en casa porque en la mañana, cuando fuimos a la visita anduvimos mucho porque la gente no te indica bien dónde vive, no hay nombres de las calles por ningún sitio, hacía mucho sol… tuvimos que coger varias movilidades…
Aproveché para preparar el taller de mañana que daré a los chicos de Conéctate sobre subrayar y resumir para estudiar. Ahora me acabo de duchar y estoy esperando a que terminen de rezar y me llamen para cenar. Hay milanesas (filetes de ternera rebozados), caldito y sobras.

Answering these questions because I like to reflect on my life by myself sometimes and all my followers are bots so my ask box is covered in spider webs. Anyways-
Who was your first crush, and what were they like?
I was in seventh grade and they were always sad.
Can you describe what your first heartbreak was like?
I've had my heart broken a lot, but i guess the first real one was when I was 17-18, and it was mostly because I couldn't believe I allowed myself to be treated so badly. My longest heartbreak was at 19-20ish. My shortest was at 23.
What was the biggest lesson from your worst breakup?
I learned that someone that actually loves you will not push you away or make you change who you are during difficult times.
What's something you used to believe about relationships but no longer do?
Hmmm, that it's all about giving. It's not. You gotta take as well. It's a team effort.
What's something surprising that you were afraid of as a child?
I've been afraid of death since I was 8.
What was your favorite food growing up?
My mom does this thing called fricasé de pollo.
What's your favorite meal now?
Still that, but I love good sushi and pasta.
What was the first album you ever owned?
Probably a show's soundtrack.
How does your life compare to how you imagined it growing up?
It's alot calmer and quieter than I ever imagined it to be and I wouldn't change it for anything.
What was your dream job when you were a kid?
I wanted to be an Art teacher.
Were you "popular" in high school?
Eh. Not that popular but well, not invisible either.
What was your favorite school subject growing up?
Art lol or anything not math.
Was there an embarrassing fashion moment in your adolescence?
Low rise jeans were my personal hell.
What's your definition of romance?
Eye-contact while talking to each other on a dinner date. That's it. It's all about deep conversations.
Do you see yourself having kids? If so, how many?
I'm still unsure but I do know it would only be 1.
Do you believe in soul mates?
Yes, and also in twin flames.
If you believe in soul mates, do you think you've met yours?
Yes.
Do you believe in God?
I believe in a type of God that's not the one getting sold in churches.
Is going to church or another house of worship important to you?
No. I don't agree with man made churches.
Do you think it's more important to be smart or to be kind?
Both. Smart people know it's best to be kind.
Would you rather be loved, respected, or admired?
Respected. People can claim to love you and treat you bad, and people can admire you but wish you ill secretly.
Does your family have any traditions?
On holidays and such.
Would you want to create any traditions in your family going forward?
Yes, like eating at the table. I think that's important.
What do you think is your best quality?
I'm understanding.
What qualities or character traits do you want to work on?
I need to learn how to let go of the past.

Fricasé de pollo
Ingredientes:
-Muslos de pollo
-1 diente de ajo
-1 cucharada de harina de trigo
-Tomillo
-Laurel
-150 ml de caldo de pollo
-1 zanahoria
-125 ml de nata para cocinar
-Pimienta negra
-Sal
-Aceite de oliva virgen extra
Preparación:
Salpimentar el pollo. Picar el diente de ajo y cortar la zanahoria en juliana, reservar. Calentar un poco de aceite en una cazuela amplia y dorar la carne. Añadir el ajo y saltear 5 minutos. Añadir la harina, remover y agregar el tomillo y laurel. Incorporar el caldo, remover y bajar el fuego. Cocinar unos 20 minutos. Cocer la zanahoria en el microondas. Añadir la verdura y la nata al pollo y remover con suavidad. Cocinar todo junto unos minutos y añadir pimienta negra antes de servir.

Dog walk diary week 2 day 2
Posted on day 3, which was a day without dog walking, thanks to the cold I caught off my husband, who’d been in bed himself for several days with it.
On day 2 this week my main thought was of the fresh green nettle shoots bursting up through the undergrowth in the copse and if I could come back sometime without dogs and gather enough to make the nettle fricasée recipe in my new Romanian cookbook.
Then, walking back through the woods, I was thinking about how quickly the leaves of the bluebells had shouldered their way up, already making the snowdrops look faded and frosted as they began to turn over and die back. Then I spotted the first bit of new colour in the undergrowth - not bluebells, I don’t know what these are (some, to the right, may be grape hyacinths?), but they’re beautiful little flowers, so I stopped to take a picture.
Shay helped.
And then, right above me, I heard the woodpecker again.
