My full experience of anime is thus: My brother has a friend who use to come by with anime on VHS. The first exposure I got to anime proper was when he brought over a couple episodes of SLAYERS, next, obviously, Channel 10 ran Pokemon from Episode 1 to Episode 46 before inexplicably just restarting from the beginning all over again. Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon fought on Channel 5 during the afternoons. But Dragonball Z like...jumped around a lot. It did the Saiyan Saga, the Fake Namrk Saga, skipped the Freiza Saga and the Cell Saga and did reruns of parts of the Buu Saga. Then they stopped airing both and aired Cardcapture Sakura for a while there. Then they stopped airing all three. Then they eventually brought Pokemon to the WB on Channel 5 and Yu-Gi-Oh! Hit along with it. But, like Pokemon before it. Yu-Gi-Oh! Only ran from Episode 1 until JUST before Seto and Yugi fought to duel Pegasus. Then my family got DirecTV which opened up Cartoon Network to me and thus granted me access to .hack//SIGN which sometimes ran either before or after Samurai Jack and Courage the Cowardly Dog. From there I gained access to the Buu Saga of Dragonball Z which always just reset back to the beginning of the Saga when it got done airing. Then eventually Adult Swim hit and introduced me to Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Big O, Inuyasha, and SUPER MILK-CHAN. Then at random intervals Toonami stopped airing Adult Swim and starting airing the English dub of Naruto. And I got tired of waiting for them to dub new episodes, so I began the search online for Naruto episodes English subbed online on YOUTUBE at the time. Back when they split an episode in 3 - 6 videos and movies into 10 - 12 parters.
Toonami also eventually introduced me to Blood+, Bleach, and my all time love of my teenage life...Eureka SeveN. It also introduced me to Neon Genesis Evangelion and FLCL. You can blame FLCL and Super Milk-chan for rewiring my fucking brain. And unfortunately, anime youtube also introduced me to Elfen Lied which rewired my brain in a different way. Paranoia Agent on Adult Swim also made me fall in love with the late Satoshi Kon's work. Spirited Away hit America around the same time and caught on like fire causes me to go knee deep into that. But also there was 4kids Food Fighters and One Piece. Which...turned me off to One Piece cause that censored, puritan, chaste run of One Piece was...it was something.
And the rest is history...especially after Eureka SeveN that got me to want to absorb more long form narrative that was both SUPER bittersweet but super cathartic to see through to the end. Some people get super into Tolkien and Lord of the Rings. Some people get into Shakespeare. Eureka SeveN is what got me into long form narrative epics. Which hundreds of moving parts and a large cast of characters.
And then, as if the universe sensed that. A kid who use to live near me sold his Playstation to me for $20 along with--Final Fantasy VII. My first and only Final Fantasy really. I tried FFVIII years later but it never clicked, never picked up IX or X or X-2. Then Playstation 2 happened...and with it? Kingdom motherfucking Hearts and then the best game ever made, Kingdom Hearts 2.
Bounced between xXxHoLiC, D.Gray Man, The World God Only Knows, Deadman Wonderland, and eventually Berserk. And then from joined Final Fantasy XIV circa 2018. Susanoo subsequently killed my GPU but I eventually got a new one and joined proper during the dying days of Stormblood when Shadowbringers hype was going FUCKING STRONG.
Good times.

Vegeta x (Saiyan) Tifa - Headcanons
// with @badassbarmaid + first rough draft that we can change/RP details later!
Saiyan Saga
Tifa (24) won the world martial arts tournament after Goku, followed by Hercule (held while they were training for the Androids)
Nappa blows up East City, where Tifa’s bar was, also her family/friends who were visiting.
Tifa arrives to save Gohan from the Saibaman that attacks him (or later) then fights Nappa, being around Piccolo in power.
She later teams up with Krillin, Gohan and Piccolo, who get to know her while they wait for Goku.
Vegeta (knowing she’s a Saiyan or not) offers to spare Tifa’s life if she joins them.
When Piccolo sacrifices himself for Gohan, he also looks at Tifa in his dying moments, eyes asking her to protect Gohan in his place.
When Vegeta dodges the Spirit Bomb thrown by Krillin and it heads towards Gohan, Tifa deflects it towards Vegeta to land a direct hit.
Tifa can (instead of/with) Gohan, transform into a Great Ape with her tail (regrown)
Namek Saga
Tifa joins Bulma, Gohan and Krillin to Planet Namek, they all become good friends during the journey.
Tifa’s potential gets unlocked by Guru (after Krillin and Gohan), though it takes some time, becoming around as strong as Nail by the time Goku arrives.
Meanwhile Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta fight and are defeated by the Ginyu Force,
Goku defeats Recoome and Burter, Vegeta kills them as Tifa arrives to help.
Jeice brings back Captain Ginyu, and the 3 Saiyans seem to team up, until Vegeta leaves for his own goals
Worried about Vegeta going after Gohan/Krillin, Goku asks Tifa to follow them.
Goku gets body swapped by Ginyu but struggles against Gohan/Krillin when they fight.
Tifa who even with Jeice, manages to defeat him though was close to death from a sneak attack, Vegeta who had been watching secretly, finishes Jeice off and then puts Tifa in a rejuvenation chamber for her to recover and save her life.
Frieza Fight
While Vegeta takes a nap, Tifa helps carry the dragon balls and witnesses the Namekian dragon being summoned and wishes granted before Frieza arrives.
She teams up with Krillin, Gohan and Vegete fighting against Frieza's second form until Piccolo arrives.
Vegeta almost kills Tifa so she can become stronger (from Saiyan zenkai) after being healed by Dende
About to die from Frieza’s 4th/true form, Vegeta begs Tifa to save their Saiyan race, and relay his last words to Goku, seeing him arrive in his final moments.
“Freiza, he made me who I am. Don’t let him do it, to anyone else! Whatever it takes, he must be stopped, by a Saiyan!”
Goku after becoming a Super Saiyan, tells Tifa with Gohan to take Piccolo back to his ship and find Bulma, they are later all teleported to Earth from a wish.
Android Saga
Future Gohan (instead of Future Trunks) arrives to kill Frieza and King Cold before warning everyone about the Androids, prompting them to train for the next 3 years
Trunks is instead Bulma and Yamcha’s (human) son
in the first year, Tifa transforms into a Super Saiyan from a movie villain (Frieza’s brother Cooler) while Vegeta is out in space training
Tifa is about to take over for Goku (defeated by Android 19) when Vegeta arrives
Vegeta is shocked (and secretly proud) when Tifa transforms into a Super Saiyan to catch up to him while they look for Android 20 / Dr Gero’s lab
Vegeta refuses any help even when he is being outclassed by Android 18, and when Tifa and the others rush in to help, Android 17 steps in to defeat them.
Cell Saga
Vegeta trains with Tifa in the HBTC, both attaining power beyond a Super Saiyan
Vegeta fights Tifa so Cell can absorb 18 and reach his perfect form
after Vegeta is defeated by Perfect Cell, Tifa fights him but cannot match his new power
Gohan/Goku show/teach Tifa their way of Super Saiyan training in the HBTC
Tifa fights her own Cell Junior during the Cell Games
A revived Cell kills Tifa (in place of Future Trunks), causing Vegeta to snap and attack Cell in a rage. It is then that he truly admits and accepts his feelings for her.
(cc) Cell: “Your Tifa? Don’t be ridiculous, Prince. There is no room for love with all that pride of yours, I should know. I’ll do you a favour though, and send you right to her in the afterlife!”
Buu Saga
Vegeta and Tifa have a daughter named Sela (pun on celery) around Goten’s age
turned into Majin Vegeta by Babidi and forced to fight Tifa, Vegeta is brought back to his senses after seeing his daughter’s tears.
Vegeta (putting his pride aside) fights alongside Tifa against Kid Buu, but their teamwork is still not enough to finish Buu off, leading to the plan to use the Spirit Bomb.

Just saw Dragon Ball Super: Superhero movie!
Here are my thoughts!
Tumblr media
Warning: SPOILERS
Android 21 is officially canon!!!
Magenta fucking bullshitting the whole idea of Bulma having an evil organization and plotting an alien invasion is hilarious 😂
The throwback/reanimated scene of future Trunks vs Freiza and King Cold! The nostalgia!
CELL!!!!
Piccolo training Pan!! 🥰
PICCOLO HAS A HOUSE!!! FINALLY!! TFS IS GONNA LOVE THIS!
Anyone noticed that Piccolo’s chair he sat in is very similar to King Piccolo’s throne in Dragon Ball?
I love how Piccolo holds his phone, also LOL Piccolo has a phone!!
Piccolo being another grandpa for Pan is so sweet
Piccolo calling out Gohan for neglecting his daughter. I guess the Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because Goku’s parenting is starting to rub off on his own son
I like how the red ribbon army tries to paint off Goku, Vegeta, and Buu as the villains to convince Dr Hedo to build them androids brought a chuckle out of me
Loved the fight between Piccolo and Gamma 2
Piccolo pointing out Gamma 2’s background affects popping up behind him!! 🤣🤣
Smart idea of Bulma constantly gathering the Dragon Balls to prevent anyone from using them for evil deeds
But also very pity that Bulma is basically using the Dragon Balls for cosmetic surgery. It was a good call back to the Broly movie when Bulma wanted to use the Dragon Balls to make herself look 5 years younger. Is it because her saiyan husband ages slower than her?
Piccolo and Dende!! I love that Dende and others refer to Piccolo as “Kami”
Piccolo’s new powers and forms!! So badass!!
BROLY!!!! 😍😍
So Broly and his friends are now living on Beerus’ world to hide from Frieza. Smart choice! I hope they are safe!
Goku, Vegeta, and Broly training on Beerus’ world!! The last 3 Saiyans!! I LOVE IT!
Vegeta meditating! I love that he’s trying to focus more on his mental strength than his physical strength, he learned a lot from observing Jiren during the tournament of power. He’s definitely have come a long way in his training and even his character growth
BEERUS X CHEELAI????!!?!
Lima becoming Beerus’ personal chef is so cute.
GOKU VS VEGETA TRAINING TIME!! LETS GOOOOOO!!!!
Honestly I like how this is the reason for why Goku and Vegeta are not in this movie or the fights. I’m glad they didn’t show up into the fight because if they did I’m pretty sure the fight would’ve been over sooner. This is a Piccolo and Gohan movie, as much as I love them, we don’t need Goku and Vegeta.
Can I just say how much I absolutely love Gamma 1 and 2? I love G2’s upbeat want to be superhero persona and I love how G1 completes him by being more serious.
Piccolo “kidnapping” Pan for the Red Ribbon Army so he can get Gohan back into his training and encourage him into his old ways as a fighter. I also love how Pan was playing along and having fun with it.
I absolutely love Piccolo and Pan’s dynamic. It’s so sweet and adorable.
DADDY GOHAN READY TO KICK SOME ASS AND SAVE HIS DAUGHTER!!
I love the fight between Gohan and Gamma 1! Very well done!
Gohan basically being blind without his glasses when he’s not a Super Saiyan was a funny running gag.
Piccolo trying to reason with Gamma 2, He knows that they’re lost and are trying to show them who they are truly working for
ORANGE PICCOLO!!! 😂 Why not Super Namekian?
Bulma bringing in Trunks, Goten, 18, and Krillin into the fight!
Bulma: I brought all our strongest warriors! Oh, and Krillin too
Me: EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!
Krillin actually having to remind Piccolo that he can grow huge and Piccolo being like “oh yeah I forgot I can do that“ 🤣
CELL MAX!!!
18 was definitely getting some ptsd when she saw Cell Max
Gamma 2’s sacrifice 😭
Goten forgetting how to do the fusion dance! 😂
Did they seriously just tease us of getting teen Gotanks?? We did get him but as his chubby self. At least it was still useful in battle 👍
GOHAN!!!! HIS NEW SAIYAN FORM!!! BADASS GOHAN IS BACK BABY!!!
PAN CAN FLY!!! 🥹💞
I love that we got to see Piccolo and Gohan’s father-son dynamic again
Very kind of Bulma to offer Dr Hedo and Gamma 1 a job at Capsule Corp, maybe we’ll see them again in future Dragon Ball projects
The after credit scene was definitely a surprise I didn’t expect but I really enjoyed it!
Goku and Vegeta have been fighting the entire freaking movie and are exhausted but are still going!
Broly and Lima in awe over Goku and Vegeta‘s battle 😂
VEGETA FINALLY BEAT GOKU IN A FIGHT! THE PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS DESERVES THIS WIN!!! 👑❤️

Sources & Characters
Long list, so it's going under the readmore!! If a source or character is not listed on here, I will NOT write for them! Only because I live under a rock and take forever to get into new stuff and get comfortable with a character enough to write them.
I'm not limited to solely character x reader! I do character headcanons, too!! As long as it's not just canon x canon, I'll try writing any SFW topic. I will NEVER write NSFW, regardless of if the character is an adult or minor. And characters 14 or younger and pet / animal characters will only be written in platonic or familial scenarios.

Dragon Ball (Comic Book AU)
Currently brainstorming an AU where Dragon Ball was an American comic book series created in 1955, with certain changes and fan response. I'm presently brainstorming Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super since I'm most familiar with those series:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1980s: Everyone raves about the beginning of Goku's adult era, particularly with the world-building and his origins (though I do prefer recent retcons). This decade's comic covered the Saiyan Saga and Freiza arcs.
Tumblr media
1990s: I always hear that this was the golden age for the property, as it had the Cell saga. In particular, the 90s run received critical acclaim for introducing the future version of Trunks Briefs as well as giving Gohan more of the spotlight, with some rumors saying that he would take up the role of "Kakarot" in place of Goku. Then they dropped the ball and threw Gohan to the back burner because writer Isaac Martinez couldn't see Gohan abandoning "his dream" of being a scholar and let Goku take the focus once more. I really hated that, and I hated how Future Trunks and Android 18 were hypersexualized from this period on. They've lightened up a bit on it now, but still (I did like how 18 eventually dyed her hair blonde and everyone compared her and her brother to X-Men's Emma Frost and Shinobi Shaw). Plus I think that the "Cooler" and "Bojack" arcs are pretty overlooked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2000s: The 2000s was probably a huge amount of turmoil for the series. When writer Dan Golder was brought on for the series, he was a big fan of the 1980s eras where Goku was the main star, and felt that by having him being a good father made the series "boring." As such, he created what some fans call the "bad dad" era, where Goku was a hero first and foremost, featuring his family very little, if at all. The weird part about it was that subsequent writers not only followed his lead, but also featured other characters as good parents (ie Krillin and Vegeta), almost as if to highlight the fact that being a bad parent made you a better hero. Needless to say, fans were NOT pleased, and they had toned it down a bit by the time the Majin Buu era came along, but the writing seemed to suffer the same curse as the Cell Saga when it came to Gohan, hyping him up only to put him down. The label did try to salvage this by giving him the identity of Saiyaman (inspired by the Ginyu force, who at this point were retconned as gay/bi men, if I recall correctly; I think the Saiyan race as a whole was almost retconned as bi as well, but that idea was cancelled) and a short-lived spinoff series, but the costume wasn't super inspired and the series felt more like a parody than an actual attempt at making Gohan the breakout star he was meant to be. Outside of the main series, several AU comics did well (one of them concerning Future Trunks; the GT series also gained some followers), but the main series had few blips of greatness during the 2000s.
Tumblr media
2010s: By 2015, the series had kind of settled into the station of mediocrity, and it wasn't until Masako Nozawa came onto the scene that the series went into a more critically and financially successful direction, taking inspiration from previous Dragon Ball Arcs over the decades in order to appease new and longtime fans. It was during this time that Gohan took more focus again, though in a much more serious direction that rivaled Goku's successful runs. Androids 17 and 18 were featured more in the series, with Nozawa having them address each other by their birth names (as had been previously confirmed in the 1980s), and their backstories being fleshed out more. Broly was made canon in the main universe, and Future Trunks returned to the present for another story arc. Vegeta also rose to prominence, with some fans suspecting that Goku would soon die and Vegeta would take Goku's mantle. Along with this, alternate universes were addressed in the "Universe Survival" saga, leading to speculation that another AU comic would be made, focusing on Frost and/or the three saiyans.
P.S. Even though this is designed as being made by an American comic publisher, I'm unsure if Goku's home would be in America or westernized Japan; either way, the Japanese influence and cultural aspects are a lot less tokenized by the 21st century. Plus I own NONE of this art.

Being a Super Sayian seems to have a genetic component, between S-cells, the fact that half-Sayians can achieve all the same levels as full Sayians, and the fact that it *is* uniquely Sayian occurance, the same way fusing bodies without external means is uniquely Namekian, or breathing (?) in space is unique to Freiza's species. Given this, do you have thoughts on why can't Cell (genes from multple Super Sayians) go Super Sayian, when he can use the full abilities of his other components?
I mean, he has the Super Saiyan aura and strength? Does that not count?
Tumblr media
Even in his imperfect form, Cell was able to surpass the power of 17, 18, and Super Namekian Piccolo. And he was rocking this yellow aura the whole time. His hair didn't change color because he doesn't have any. And I think it's safe to assume his eyes are mostly operating on insect and/or Frieza DNA, so they wouldn't necessarily follow the same rules as Saiyan eyes.
Tumblr media
Really, it's kind of amazing that Cell would have any Super Saiyan traits at all, since Gero had no knowledge of the Super Saiyan form when he turned over the Cell project to his computer. The computer would have had to independently discover the "S-cell" phenomenon in Goku and Vegeta's cell samples and figure out how to manifest that effect in Cell's design. This would imply that Cell might have other latent abilities that even his genetic "fathers" didn't know about at the time. Like, "Golden Cell" might be the tip of the iceberg. He might be able to do whatever Broly was tapping into in the DBS movie. If Piccolo finds out he has X-Ray vision, there's a good chance Cell's had the same potential all along.
Tumblr media
I guess you could make the argument that Cell just naturally has a yellow aura, the same way Frieza has blue or purple, or Buu has pink. It just looks like he's got Super Saiyan power when he actually doesn't. Or you could say that his yellow aura is actually him tapping into Golden Frieza power, but he isn't getting the full benefit of it because his Frieza traits aren't dominant enough. But I think it's simpler to just assume he's got the same power as the Super Saiyans he's fighting on the show. He just doesn't have a visible transformation for it, because he lacks the body hair.

A Re-Review of Ben Tennyson vs Green Lantern:
youtube
It’s been 10 months since this came out, so I decided to rewatch it and put out my final thoughts on it. It was a cause of much anger and upset in both the DB and Ben 10 communities, but I’m going to try and be as fair as I possibly can.
The Good:
Including Ben in Death Battle at all was pretty nice. Current Western Animation doesn’t appear too often on the show, so it’s nice that it’s getting as much spotlight as other mediums.
The sprite animation was excellent. It was very fluid and it was even hand-drawn at times. The up-close shots were great, with Waybig and Alien X in particular looking fantastic.
The battle itself was action-packed and really fun to watch. Bits of humour were put into it too, like Hal using a Lantern fire hydrant to fight Heatblast.
Ben was very fitting to his usual personality. The voice acting for Ben was excellent, especially with the aliens. Way Big in particular sounded very much like he did in the show. However, the voice would fit a lot better for Teenage Ben than Kid Ben. Doesn’t make the voice work any less good though.
The Bad:
Ben lost the fight. That’s not the direct issue. Characters I prefer have lost their respective Death Battles before. Him losing at all isn’t even the problem, I’m fully aware that there are characters out there capable of beating him. The problem was that he was misrepresented. Ben wasn’t researched fully, and that the reasons they did have for him losing were flawed.
There were some major errors in the pre-fight bios. They used a clip of Way Big fighting Malware when talking about him fighting Diagon (Which are two completely different characters. It’s like if Darkseid was called Doomsday or Freiza being called Cell), and said that “Overuse of the Omnitrix can horribly disfigure a users DNA” (This has never been stated before, not even as a joke or a rumour). They also credited Derrick J Wyatt as one of the shows creators, despite him just being an art director for Omniverse.
The alien selection was weak. Yes, Alien X was the only one who could hold a candle to Hal, with the slightly possible exceptions of Feedback, Clockwork Nanomech or Waybig. But that doesn’t mean the “weaker” forms couldn’t be included. Some could have been rather fitting, like having Toepick (a yellow alien who’s main power is creating intense fear), or just having fan favourites like Rath and Atomix being there at all. Instead, they stuck to only the original series with the sole exception of Alien X.
A tiny nitpick, but why did they animate 10 year old Ben? It makes no sense. The voice matches better to that of the sequel Bens and causes him to have access to aliens and abilities that he would not have at that point. It’s like giving the kid version of Goku Super Saiyan God or whatever. Also, I know it’s Death Battle, but why would you make Green Lantern murder a 10 year old child when the slighty less heartless option of a young adult is readily available instead?
Research Issues:
The Omnitrix could react to the speed of the Big Bang, yet Hal has no problem outspeeding its transformation time. I may be wrong on this, but I don’t know if Hal has traveled that fast before.
They said that Alien X had no counter to time manipulation, despite the fact he could do it himself and even did so in the battle. You know, with a wave of his hand.
One of the biggest issues was them directly ignoring the failsafes of the Omnitrix. Even the Omnitrix will turn Ben into whatever alien he needs to survive, they have Ben defeated by Lantern scissors. Multiple of Bens aliens could overcome that, namely Swampfire, Goop, Bloxx, or a Lenopan. Even if it was cut off, it can still transform Ben anyways.
Hal won the fight by travelling back in time and attacking Ben before the fight started. Not only would this not work anyway for reasons due to Alien X already being able to control time, Ben would be aware of this due to the Sotobro Effect. This is “a ripple created in the timestream, that can be detectable by those whose abilities are powerful enough to perceive changes in the timestream”. As soon as Hal travelled back in time, Alien X would be able to sense it and stop him.
Alien X was extremely nerfed. A reality warper, with control over time and space, spends the majority of his appearance punching and kicking. They got his cloning abilities correct, but ignored the fact that 1. They’re not like Naruto clones, they should be just as powerful as regular Alien X and 2. a group of Celestialsapiens can make themselves strong enough to survive Multiversal and Omniversal level attacks. That latter one is forgivable for not knowing, it’s a little bit obscure to find. Ben doesn’t even Alien X to clone himself though, all he needs to do is turn into Echo Echo.
They have Alien X almost kill Hal by slowly causing him to disintegrate, despite the fact that he can cause people to cease to exist in the time it takes to blink. They said that the only reason Alien X recreated the Universe was because he couldn’t stop it from being destroyed in the first place, but this is false. Ben only didn’t do so due to having to consult with Bellicus and Serena, which he no longer has to do.
They ignored Hal’s biggest weakness, that he needs to recharge his Ring. Ben with Master Control does not have this limitation. Alien X could have just trapped him in an infinite loop of time reversal until his power ran out. From what I’ve seen, Hal’s Ring can also be taken off his body relatively easily. Batman, essentially a regular human, can take it off. The Omnitrix has only been taken off by technological geniuses with prior knowledge of the device.
That’s everything I have to say about the episode. All of my thoughts, compiled into one post. I agree that it’s one of the lacking episodes of the series and definitely deserved better, but I don’t think those involved in it should have been attacked like they were. I do not know everything about Green Lantern or DC, so if anyone is aware of things that may contradict what I’ve said, please let me know. We can have a friendly and civil discussion about it, please don’t try and start any arguments. I’ve dealt with that enough in the comment section of the video.

Ben 10 vs Green Lantern Death Battle
youtube
Now that it’s finally here, I want to get my thoughts out about this. Unfortunately, not many of them are good.
Positives:
Just having Ben in Death Battle at all is great. Samurai Jack, Goliath and the Ponies are the only other characters from Western Animation (Transformers originated in Japan, I think) to appear on the show, so it’s nice that they’re getting as much spotlight as other mediums.
The sprite animation was excellent. It was very fluid and there was even hand-drawn at times. They even created an entirely new sprite for Grey Matter, and the up-close shots were great.
The battle itself was action-packed and really fun to watch. Bits of humour were put into it too, like Hal using a Lantern fire hydrant to fight Heatblast. And as per usual, the episode itself had provided laughs courtesy of Wiz and Boomstick.
@twilightvolt Your brother did a great job! The voice acting for Ben was excellent, especially with the aliens. Way Big in particular sounded very much like he did in the show. However, the voice would fit a lot better for Teenage Ben than Kid Ben. I understand that they probably chose that version because it be easier to recognise, but the voices just don’t fit. Doesn’t make his voice work any less good though.
A kind of separate tangent, but it’s nice that RWBY is getting another fight with Weiss as a combatant. I’m not a fan of RWBY, but it’s nice to see another representative other than the main character Yang.
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE EPISODE YET.
Negatives:
Ben lost the fight. This isn’t the problem by itself for me. Characters I prefer have lost their respective Death Battles before such as the Power Rangers, Classic Megaman, and Twilight Sparkle. The problem was the fact that he shouldn’t have lost in the first place, they didn’t research Ben fully, and that the reasons they did have for him losing were flawed. I’ll explain it in my other points, but it’s essentially a repeat of Bowser vs Ganon (Which Bowser wrongfully lost for reasons just as stupid as the ones here).
They had some major errors in the recap.
Not enough aliens were used. They stuck to aliens from the original series, with Alien X being the only exception. Some of them could have been used really effectively, like using Feedback and Chromastone to directly interact with the Lantern constructs, Nanomech being much more effective at hiding than Greymatter, having Toepick (a yellow alien who’s main power is creating intense fear), and just having Rath or Atomix being there at all.
They went against points and facts they had stated prior. They said that the Omnitrix could react to the speed of the Big Bang, yet Hal has no problem outspeeding its transformation time. They said that Alien X had no counter to time manipulation, despite the fact he could do it himself and even did so in the battle. The biggest one was them directly ignoring the failsafes of the Omnitrix. Even though they said that the Omnitrix will turn Ben into whatever alien he needs to survive, they have Ben defeated by Lantern scissors, which many of Bens aliens could have survived easily.
Hal won the fight by travelling back in time and attacking Ben before the fight started. Not only would this not work anyway for reasons I’ve already said, Ben would be aware of this due to the Sotobro Effect.
They got his cloning abilities correct, but ignored the fact that a group of Celestialsapiens can make themselves strong enough to survive Multiversal and Omniversal level attacks. They have him almost kill Hal by slowly causing him to disintegrate, despite the fact that he can cause people to cease to exist in the time it takes to blink. They said that the only reason Alien X recreated the Universe was because he couldn’t stop it from being destroyed in the first place, but this is false, Ben was just unaware of what was happening. They also state that Alien X has no defence against mind control (He has three separate minds that act separately from one another), transmutation (He can already transform by himself, like that time he turned into a black hole) and time manipulation (which he can also do himself).
They ignored Hal’s biggest weakness, that he needs to recharge his Ring while Ben with Master Control does not.
Final Opinion:
While I greatly disagree with the results of the fight itself, it was enjoyable overall. It was nice to see Ben in the spotlight and I hope it allows more Western Animated characters to join. And despite the outcome, people shouldn’t bully the creators of Death Battle about it. Yeah, they messed up, but they’re still people. It’s not the only time this has happened and while it does suck whenever it does, episodes like this are a minority. The majority of the Battles are better, and aren’t cancelled out by the bad ones. I hope that, like Batman Deadpool and Captain Marvel, Ben gets brought back against a new opponent with revised research. While Beast Boy is too outclassed, Blue Beetle would fit much better as he is evenly matched with most of Bens aliens.

Crunchyroll All-Stars: Cameron Jordan is the NFL's Most Hardcore Anime Fan
Anime fans come from all walks of life and in all shapes and sizes. Some are students, some are scientists, some are doctors, some are artists, and some are even nationally-recognized professional sports figures! Crunchyroll All-Stars is a series of interviews highlighting elite professional athletes who harbor a passion both for their sport and for anime.
Today’s profile is on Cameron Jordan, a five-time Pro Bowl Defensive End for the New Orleans Saints. Considered one of the best defensive players in the NFL, the only thing that might compare to his impressive stats is his deep knowledge and passion for anime. Starting off with Shonen Jump classics like Shamen King, Dragon Ball, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, Jordan has dived deep into the anime fandom and found new favorites like Reborn!, Mob Psycho 100, DanMachi and many more. We sat down with Jordan to talk about his wide-ranging love of anime, how so many more players in the NFL are becoming anime fans, how to find your next favorite series, and more!
  (clickthrough for a full image)
When did you become an anime fan?  Was there a specific moment (like watching a certain series or character’s experience) that affected you or changed the way you felt about something?
I used to watch Saturday cartoons like Filmore!, Recess, and then it had Shonen Jump’s anime. I started off watching Shaman King, which of course led to Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Dragon Ball, and then my older brother and cousin put me on Gundam—Gundam Wing, the Gundam Zero, just the arc that is Gundam. And the next thing you know, we were watching Dragon Ball GT all in subtitles.  It’s just an ever-growing love of cartoons that turned into anime and has just grown.
Are there any ways you engage with your favorite anime series or characters aside from watching them?
I’m always wearing some sort of t-shirt. What Goku meant to everybody, Krillin, Yamcha when they were studying and had the Gi on and I was like “I need to have it." Of course, you have to talk about Afro Samurai and the #1 headband...Got that! Probably going to rock it this season sometime. I haven’t yet gotten into cosplay, but if I ever found a proper Deku suit for me I’ll probably end there (or being Sub Zero).
Have you ever bonded with someone else over anime?
Yeah, you talk to guys in the NFL now like “Hey bro, have you seen the latest My Hero Academia? Or the new Radiant? Or ask “What started you off?” Everybody’s been on the Naruto manga, and now they’re pushing Boruto but I’m not really here for Boruto. I’ve watched Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z to Dragon Ball GT and now to have to split back to Dragon Ball Super. I’m going to give it some time till I get there. But you can always bond over talking about what your favorite anime is.
What’s your favorite anime series of all time?
My favorite would probably be Reborn!. It holds such great anime action into it. Or you could probably go Yu Yu Hakusho. How I really started was with Samurai X. It made me want to watch it all the time. Between Samurai X and Yu Yu Hakusho, that was my childhood.
Who’s your favorite anime character of all time?
I refuse to say Sasuke just because everyone’s on the Naruto hype now...I was there long before, reading manga back in the day when Demon Eyes Kyo was a great manga series. I’m all about overpowered characters, so I’d say Simon from Gurren Lagann is probably one of my favorite characters of all time.
Who would you rank as the top anime hero ever?
Always going to be Saitama from One-Punch Man because he’s unbeatable. There’s no adverse situation for him; he just overpowers everything. Other than that, I was a Gohan guy back when everyone was screaming Goku, and then he topped out for me when he no longer wanted to go super saiyan, and believe in his mystic saiyan hype. I was like “We did so well in the Cell series: why are we changing now?!”
Who would you rank as the top anime villain ever?
You could say Freiza from the Dragon Ball series. He just keeps coming back. You’ve killed him, he’s gone to hell and back. He’s died more times than Krillin, which is impressive.  Actually I’ll probably go with Korosensei from Assassination Classroom. No one could actually defeat him. He was a villain to the world because he took a chunk out of the moon, but at the end of the day, nobody could top what he did.  Being a fan of overpowered people, that’s probably it. I’ll go with Korosensei.
Have you ever taken any elements or learnings from anime and implemented them into your daily life?
Yes, I take elements and learnings from anime. At some point it’s all the same with adverse situations and there’s always a possible way to overcome. You look at Demon Slayer, Goblin Slayer, DanMachi, it’s always some adverse situation the main character has to overcome. Just like in life, no one ever has all the cards in their hands. There’s always going to be some situation you have to overcome.
It feels like more and more athletes are showcasing their love for anime—what’s anime fandom like in the NFL? And what do you think it is about anime that attracts athletes?
I feel like guys have always probably watched it, but now it feels like there’s a cult following with anime in the NFL. Lowkey, I sort of think it’s kind of like a bandwagon right now. Some guys are like “Ya, I watch such and such," and it’s just like watching the latest TV series like Snowfall or Narcos or something. Guys just hop on the train. But at the same time, guys like watching mainstream anime, but it’s like “Alright bro, but what else?” Everybody pushes out One Piece, and One Piece is cool, but there’s so much more anime. I like watching the anime that goes 1-2 seasons, forcing you to move on when you want more. I just had somebody come up to me asking about the new Evangelion and I was like “Nope, I’m here for the original and I’m not here to discuss it.” Everybody wants to talk about what’s new, but I’m like “Where were you when I was a kid and I sort of kept it to myself?” Minus with my close friends of course, who were like “Alright, well Cam’s on some other stuff...he’s not watching cartoons, he’s watching that other stuff” and you had to do your darndest to find an avenue to actually watch it, hence what brought me and others to Crunchyroll.
What would your message be to someone who recently discovered anime and was thinking about getting into it?
If you’re going to watch anime, I say do it for yourself. Find something you like. I’ve always liked overpowered characters, unlike my brother who just watches anime regardless of the genre. I’m always into somebody who’s superpowered or overpowered who has to overcome something to become superpowered. I’m a little power-hungry I guess.  For somebody new who’s looking to get into anime and asks me “what’s a good anime to get into?”, I’m going to talk about Fate/Zero, Mob Psycho 100, and probably stick to anime where people who start off weak get strong like My Hero Academia. If you're thinking about getting into it, why not?
