Imagine the emotions of these helpless Sikh mothers. My heart bleeds for the poor souls who have been a victim to the massacre of Sikhs. At least 2 young Singhs were shot and attained martyrdom while on a peaceful protest and around 100 people injured. The Sikh Panth has awoken, we won’t let 1984 happen again. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji taught us to always stand up for the truth and human rights. We are fearless. Meanwhile, the cowardly Government of India is so scared that there is a media blackout in Punjab. #SikhLivesMatter #NeverForget1984 #FreeSikhPoliticalPrisoners

My grandfather has been hungry for justice since 16th January 2015, which makes 250 days today. Yet, no one cares enough to spend as little as 2 minutes of their day to share this information as the Indian media is NOT covering any of this. Upon asking many people in India if they knew about this issue, it was heartbreaking to hear that so many of them did not know who Bapu Ji were. Badal, himself claimed that he had no recollection of who he was. As Sikhs, we are taught that our religion comes before everything. We are Sikh before we are anything else. When Sikhs are forced to use violence (to defend themselves and the most sacred place for us, Sachkhand Sri Harimandir Sahib) we are labeled as terrorists. And when we try to stand up for what is right by holding peaceful protests such as Bapu Ji’s hunger strike, we are ignored. Sikhs have no voice in India. This needs to change. Writing posts on social media wont do much but if even one person was moved by Bapu ji’s incredible dedication and high spirits, then we are one step closer to standing together as a Khalsa Panth against the unfair Indian Government. Also, nothing is more powerful than an ardaas. Vaheguroo 🙏 #BapuSuratSinghJi #PanthKiJeet #FreeSikhPoliticalPrisoners

Washington DC - Sikhs are protesting against the gross human rights violations and treatment of 82 year old activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa by the Punjab Police. Bapu Surat Singh has been on hunger strike for the past 6 months, over 185 days, since January 2015 for the release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in the Indian jail system past their sentences. For the past week, paramilitary forces have surrounded the village of Hassanpur where Bapu ji lives. Yesterday, police and paramilitary forces stormed Bapu jis home, beating men and women alike, "laathi charged" all and any members of the congregation gathered there. Cameramen and reporters of media and news agencies such as Sangat TV and @sikhchannelofficial were also beaten, detained, their cameras and film were taken, film erased then returned. Bapu ji was forcibly taken from his home against his will to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana with the intention of ending his 6 month long hunger strike. The government of Punjab aims to bring Bapu ji down and end the struggle towards justice for the Sikh prisoners. They want to shut down the movement, but the morcha will live on. In Bapu ji's own words, "Sangarsh Jaari Hai!" #186daysofhunger #freeSikhpoliticalprisoners #bapusuratsingh #india #BapuArrested #justice4Sikhprisoners (at The White House)

Be Fearless. The blood of Sant Sipahis flows through our veins, so why are we so afraid to stand up, and demand justice, and a free world for ourselves? Today marks the 31st anniversary of the June 1984 attacks on heart of the Sikh Panth by the Indian government and army. These attacks were meticulously planned and executed to subdue and oppress Sikhs who openly opposed injustice and tyranny against Sikhi. Til this day we have been fighting the very same system. The morcha lives and will continue to struggle until we see freedom of Sikh political prisoners, until the perpetrators of injustices are punished and until we see our land and our people free from the clutches of the oppressive Indian system. Join the sangat of California today, June 1st, 2015, at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco as we rise and protest against the unjust system that is the Indian state. #freepunjab #freeSikhpoliticalprisoners #khalistanzindabad

123 days and counting on hunger strike to free Sikh political prisoners, Bapu Surat Singh Ji is a U.S. citizen and California resident who has no biological relation to any of the prisoners, yet he continues to fight for their freedom because their freedom is our freedom. He has recently lost the ability to walk and talk, but he's still fighting. This is not just an issue for the Sikh community in California or the U.S., but a global human rights issue. Please come out to the rally in Sacramento and join the struggle for justice, remembering that it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to break the silence and raise awareness. If you can't make it or you aren't in California, the very least that you can do to join the movement is raise awareness about the issue on social media. We have access to social media at our very fingertips, literally. This hits home for every one of us, young or old, Sikh or non-Sikh. It isn't too late to educate yourself and join the struggle, so please come out and help raise awareness. If anyone has any questions or needs a ride, please don't hesitate to ask. #KhalistanJindabad #FreeSikhPoliticalPrisoners #BapuSuratSinghJiKhalsa #HumanRights #DharamYudhMorcha Share this post to Facebook, tweet, repost on Instagram, wherever you're from in the world, please raise awareness. 🙏🏼
