I just got through watching #thedeepend by Freeform following the life of #tealswan I thought the documentary did a good job at depicting the behind-scenes lives of Swan and those closest to her. What I think was missing.. was a fair look at the people who follow Teal. The deep-rooted trauma that individuals are working through when they find themselves at Teal’s doorstep didn’t get accurate coverage. I feel the show perhaps used more shocking followers for air time, only exacerbating the stereotyping and stigma around the “type of person” that joins a cult. When most of us here know… that could really be anyone. Still, as my friend @andeyfellowes said (who appeared in the show) - any coverage on the subject still brings a spotlight to it which is important.
