The end of the year can be tough for a lot of people. My goal is to make it a little bit brighter! Announcing once again the return of..
The Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative!
To help bring a smile to people's faces this year, I am sending FREE Portal-Themed Holiday Cards to anyone who requests one!
This year's cards follow the same format as last year: there is only one card design, this time featuring artwork from your's truly! The cards are still customizable to any Winter Holiday of your choosing, but you'll have to wait for your card to arrive in order to customize it (the method takes cues from the Portal game's sense of humor, and is very much on-brand).
This year is PHSI's 6th year! I'm so grateful to everyone who has participated over the years, whether you've reblogged and shared, requested cards, helped with artwork, or helped in other ways. You all are so amazing! Thanks for volunteering your time, talents, and support to help make PHSI a special fandom tradition!
If you would like to receive a Portal-Themed Holiday Card:
Visit bit.ly/PHSI-2024 ...
Answer the questions in the forms...
Wait for your card to be sent!
It's that easy! Card Requests are now open, and close on December 20th in order to give me enough time to make and send all the cards before the end of the year. Please submit sooner rather than later so I have time to finish them all!
Also, please don’t be afraid to request a physical card if you don’t live in the US! The card service I use says they ship worldwide and, while it might take a bit longer for you to receive your card depending on what country you live in, the cards will get mailed to whatever address you provide, domestic or foreign. Last year I mailed/emailed a total of 111 cards to the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Brazil, Romania, Poland, Australia, Germany, India, Japan, and New Zealand!
I’m glad to be a part of the Portal Fandom and hope to bring a smile to others in the Fandom this year, just as in years past! Designing and emailing Holiday Cards takes time and effort, and sending physical cards is expensive. While it isn't a requirement to receive a card, I would greatly appreciate if you'd like to give $4 to cover the cost of your card or someone else's. Please visit ko-fi.com/247testing and click the Donate button if you want to help out. Thanks!
Answers for common questions and concerns below:
Worried about providing a mailing address, for whatever reason?
PHSI has an eCard option! All you need to provide is a name for me to call you by and an email address to receive your card!
Worried about requesting a card because you don’t live in the US?
PHSI mails to any address provided, whether domestic or foreign! However, please wait patiently for your card, due to the current global rate of shipping.
Worried that you can’t give $4 to cover the cost of your card or someone else’s?
Requesting a card from PHSI has been and will always be FREE! However, giving $4 to the initiative helps me pay for the printing service and postage to mail physical cards. I gratefully appreciate any contributions received, even if it’s just a comment saying thanks!
Worried because you don’t know how to support the artist of the card you received?
The artist’s social media is listed on the back of every card featuring their artwork. Look them up, commission them, reblog their art, and support them however you can!
Worried because you haven’t received your card yet?
Double check your email inbox and junk folders. I send everyone an email that either confirms your Holiday Card has shipped or includes your eCard! Physical cards take 1-2 weeks to arrive. If your physical card fails to show up after the first week of January, please reach out to me and I’ll send you a replacement eCard!
Worried because you received your card and don’t know what to do now?
Make a post about it! Include pictures, videos, or anything you’d like, and tag me in the post (@24-7-testing) so I can reblog it! If you don’t want to show your card off, that’s ok too!

National Organization for Women: "Shoutout to the Brooklyn Public Library who is offering every teen in America access to ebooks +audiobooks from wherever they live to help combat censorship."
Recognizing Two Years of Books Unbanned
In April 2022, Brooklyn Public Library joined those fighting for the rights of teens nationwide to read what they like, discover themselves, and form their own opinions. Inspired by the American Library Association's Freedom to Read Statement, Books Unbanned is a response to an increasingly coordinated and effective effort to remove books from library shelves.
The following libraries have joined Books Unbanned as crucial partners in defending and expanding the freedom to read.
Boston Public Library
LA County Library
San Diego Public Library
Seattle Public Library
Apply for a Teen eCard
We invite individuals ages 13-21 to apply for a free BPL eCard, providing access to our full eBook/audiobook collection as well as our learning databases. To apply, email [email protected].
BPL’s eCard is always free to teenagers in New York State. Apply here.
PLEASE SHARE THIS IMPORTANT RESOURCE!!!! Thank you!!

i am once again recommending that, if you live in the middle of nowhere and your public library is lacking in digital resources, see if you can get an ecard through the largest library system in your state (for example, i live in massachusetts, so for me it's the boston public library). often they'll give you a card for free (or a nominal fee in some cases) if you have in-state residence, even if you don't live in the city it's in. it doesn't give you access to everything, obviously, but it's how i've accessed libby and kanopy for years even though the one in my town doesn't offer those services, and i just checked and they've expanded access to also include things like comic books, daily newspapers, and a meditation app. obviously it's gonna vary state to state but it's definitely worth a try!

Get More Library! California edition
Is one of your New Year's Resolutions to read more books? Me too. Are you in a situation where buying books is hard, carrying books is hard, storing books is hard, and/or your local library doesn't have enough of the kind of books you want to read? Tired of waiting for your library's ZipBooks queue?
If you live in California, under the cut is a big list of public libraries who offer free library cards to California residents 18 and older through some form of online registration. Includes links to catalogs and links to online registration forms. Some libraries listed here offer permanent/physical cards if you go into a branch, offer permanent cards online, offer cards to minors/out-of-state residents, etc. I've made notes on each library, but there's also a link to the library website if you need more info.
Nearly all of these libraries require a photo ID and proof of address for a full, permanent library card for a person 18 or older. Persons under 18 can typically get a permanent card with parent permission/signature. Some libraries allow teens to get a permanent library card if they have photo ID and proof of address, even if a parent is not present. I didn't make note of these nuances in this list, because this list focuses on digital access to materials. If you're traveling, you might find it worth half an hour to pop into a library branch and get that card.
These digital cards generally give you access to Libby, and some to Hoopla, but I haven't checked all of them. I've noted which ones are on Libby.
While the California libraries ask for your physical address, California public libraries are required by state law to protect the privacy of their patrons, and they are not allowed to disclose or sell the address you provided to any third parties.
If you don't live in California but you do live in the US, I highly recommend looking through the directory of libraries in your state (you'll need to expand the search options and enter the name of your state).
If you know of a California library that offers free cards online to all CA residents, even if those digital cards expire, please drop me a line and I'll look it up and add it.
If you want to make a list for a different state and drop me a line, I will add a link to that post in this post.
Disclaimer: I haven't tried most of these and the information contained here is what was present and available as of the writing of the post. It's possible I misread, misinterpreted, or flat out missed some information. If you find an error in this info, please let me know!
Queer Liberation Library: You only need an email address to obtain one. You have to attest that you live in the US, but they don't ask for your address or your age. This is my one exception to the "California" filter on this list, because it's incredibly useful and awesome. Gives you access to their Libby catalog.
Alameda County Library: Get an eCard online (valid for 30 days), or a permanent card in person. Libby, Hoopla, & a lot more. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Alameda Free Library: Get an eCard online (valid for 2 months), or a permanent card in person. Libby, Hoopla, & other services. (Catalog | Apply Online)

Commerce Public Library: Get an eCard online (valid for 1 month), or a permanent card in person. Libby, Hoopla, & other services. (Catalog | Apply Online)
El Dorado County Library: Get an eCard online (temporary, but I couldn't find any information on when it expires), or a permanent card in person. Libby & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)
El Segundo Public Library: Get an eCard online (temporary, don't know how long it lasts), permanent card in person. Libby, Kanopy, & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Escondido Public Library: Get an eCard online, physical in person. Libby, Hoopla, & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Fullerton Public Library: Get an eCard online, physical in person. Libby & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Humboldt County Library: Get an eCard online, physical in person. County residents can get a permanent card; non-residents get an express card. Both get you access to Libby. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Mendocino County Library: Get an eCard online (valid for a year), permanent card in person. Libby, Hoopla, & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Monterey County Free Libraries: Apply online for a card by mail (CA residents only), or get a card immediately in person at a branch (CA & out of state residents). (Catalog | Apply Online)
Oakland Public Library: Get a temporary card online (valid for 30 days), permanent card in person. Small chance you can get your card verified (and therefore permanent) by calling, but I haven't tried it yet. Check out their FAQ. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Riverside County Library: Get a card online (unclear how long it's valid for), permanent card in person. Out-of-state residents can get a card for $10/yr. Cloud Library, Comics Plus, Kanopy & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)

San Jose Public Library: Get a temporary eCard online (valid for 1 year), physical card in person. Libby, Hoopla, & much more. (Catalog | Apply Online)
South San Francisco Public Library: Get a temporary card online (valid for 30 days), permanent card in person. Cards (both kinds) expire after 3 years. Libby, Hoopla, & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)
Stanislaus County Library: Get a temporary card online (valid for 30 days, takes 48-72 hours to process), permanent card in person. Libby & others. (Catalog | Apply Online)

Mock The Week: "Unlikely Things To Hear at Christmas Time" RP Starters
content warning; profanity, dark humour, sexual references
Feel free to adjust gendered terms as needed
"I went to Africa last year. They do know it's Christmas."
"Last year, for Christmas, to help my grandfather give up smoking, I bought him a petrol-infused cigarette. His face lit up."
"I've burnt the turkey and I'm shagging your brother! I'm joking, the turkey's fine!"
"I'm not saying you haven't made an effort, I'm just saying I didn't realize Pot Noodle did a turkey flavour."
"Awww, I knew they cared, they've sent me an eCard."
"This Christmas, why don't you spice up your festive sex life and give your partner a surprise. Put the fairy up yourself."
"D'yknow, I think this is the best stuffing I've ever had. Shall we put our clothes back on before your parents arrive?"
"It's Christmas? Today? Are you sure? The shops have kept that very quiet."
"We always have a goose here at Christmas. I don't know why really, its conversation's terrible and it shits all over the floor."
"A good tip for sprouts is to slice them very thinly, drizzle them in olive oil, throw them in the bin and drink a bottle of red wine."
"Aww, I just wish that Monopoly lasted longer…"
"What the fuck is eggnog?"
"Is that a candy cane in your pocket, or have you just got a really weird shaped penis?"
"I um… I know you didn't want diamonds and things, but you deserve something really expensive so… I've bought you some gas."
"Bit of oil, bit of salt, and finally you put a lemon up the bottom. Strangely, I quite enjoy it."
"Well, it's soaked in brandy, let's get it lit and we can pretend she fell asleep watching telly."
"Oh, we're under the mistletoe. I think you know what that means… I've locked us outside again, haven't I?"
"I'm afraid Santa wasn't able to bring you a toy train, so he's brought you a toy replacement bus service."

If you're a USAmerican between the ages of 13 and 21, you can get a free Brooklyn Public Library card to access ebooks & learning databases without a New York State address:
From the BPL's site:
National Teen BPL eCard // We invite individuals ages 13-21 to apply for a free BPL eCard, providing access to our full eBook collection as well as our learning databases. To apply, email [email protected]. BPL’s eCard is always free to teenagers in New York State. Apply here.
More information: https://www.bklynlibrary.org/books-unbanned
Why:
Brooklyn Public Library joins those fighting for the rights of teens nationwide to read what they like, discover themselves, and form their own opinions. Inspired by the American Library Association's Freedom to Read Statement, BPL's Books Unbanned initiative is a response to an increasingly coordinated and effective effort to remove books tackling a wide range of topics from library shelves.
With states passing restrictive library laws and low library budgets, this is a free, easy, (and legal) way to continue reading or to access books that may have been banned in your state. Most targeted books were for a teen audience and were by or about Black or LGBTQIA+ persons.
If you're outside the age range to apply for this card, there's a donation window to support the program on the BPL's website.
Here is a list of libraries both within America and internationally too. Unfortunately, all of them require a monthly/yearly fee to access if you're not a resident of the state/territory (& sometimes country) they're located in: https://en.everybodywiki.com/List_of_public_libraries_with_non-resident_borrowing_privileges

Dark Dudes Website - Lost media
Tumblr media
Dark Dudes by Depesche
This post is limited to just the superficial surface of the topic and website (uk./). (I plan to do part 2 and 3 about blog and shop) - All rights belong to their owners. My Post was made to honour those little guys.
What’s Depesche? - It’s a toy making company with Danish roots that was founded in 1985.
On their website we can read that Dark Dudes were created together with TOPmodel in 2007. --- The main page welcomes us with a choice of language/region.
Tumblr media
After entering we can see 8 categories: mad movies - None of the videos were saved and only the titles and descriptions remained.
Die DarkDudes - Storyline.
[There are no photos available that were between the text]
“Hey Dudes, We’re the Dark Dudes What, you’ve not heard of us before? – That’s all about to change and that’s a promise. We are Mad Bunny, Bad Bunny and, my oh so humble self, Devil Dude.
-no photo-
We got together at drama school and now spend almost every free minute together. We’re pretty much inseparable.
-no photo-
At school we have to sometimes make short films with particular scenes. We mostly end up joking around after all we are just meant to be learning how to act in front of the camera. When filming, we are often the centre of attention ... and yeah we do create havoc but hey we get a laugh!
-no photo-
In one stunt, for example, Mad Bunny ran into uni wearing just her underwear and coat and threw herself at the professor in the packed-full lecture hall screaming “I love you!”. For a laugh, she pulled her coat off and, what can I say, the reaction was more than just cool. Bad Bunny and me filmed the whole stunt on our mobiles for school – it was a riot.
-no photo-
This was such a laugh that we decided to start making films whenever we could. We eventually decided to put our films on YouTube. And that’s when we were discovered. Admittedly, it wasn’t a call from Hollywood but an e-mail from a fashion company. They told us that their new label and our films were a match made in heaven. Their style is called Dark Dudes and we thought what the hell, it can’t hurt to get in touch. A few days later we got a parcel from them. We didn’t know what the hell to expect. The end or, more precisely, the beginning of the story is that the folks at Dark Dudes now sponsor us with a camera, clothes and this cool website. Man, it's good to be bad!”
-no photo-
products - doesn’t work :( bunnydrop - Shows text ‘bunny drop’ and ‘devildue’.
ecard -
Tumblr media
Sorry for the automatic translation from my desktop. (Browse... No file selected.)
dark crew - Characters introduction.
style dude - On the site you could also find various types of wallpapers and profile pictures. I think I found some of the user profiles.
Tumblr media
These two images have different proportions from the rest.
Tumblr media
handytohell - List of characters and ringtones.
The List:
Badbunny, Madbunny, Devildude, Streetdude, Doggydude, TeddyDude, Dark dudes beastie, Dark dudes pink, Dark dudes red, Dark dudes pink, Dark dudes green, Beastie, Cute dude.
The ringtones:
Tumblr media
I don't know why 'dark dudes pink' are repeated twice.
Tumblr media
--- I'm kind of sad that we don’t have an actual layout of this website. Finding info about those cuties patooties is hard, and I rely on one weird FB account and the web archive.

The end of the year can be tough for a lot of people. My goal? To make it a little bit brighter. That's why I'm pleased to once again announce the return of...
The Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative!
To help bring a smile to people's faces this year, I will be sending FREE Portal-Themed Holiday Cards to anyone who asks for one! There are a few changes to the cards this year because life has gotten very busy for me and I have less free time than in years past.
This year there will only be one card design, featuring artwork from one of the Portal Fandom's awesome artists! The cards will still be customizable to any Winter Holiday of your choosing, but you'll have to wait for your card to arrive in order to see how (the method takes cues from the Portal game's sense of humor, so it will very much be on-brand).
This year is also special because it is PHSI's 5th Anniversary! I can’t express the amount of thanks everyone who has participated over the years, whether you've reblogged and shared, requested cards, helped with artwork, or helped in other ways. You all deserve my recognition and thanks for volunteering your time, talents, and support! Thanks for helping to make PHSI a special fandom tradition!
If you would like to receive a Portal-Themed Holiday Card:
Visit bit.ly/PHSI-2023 ...
The card service I've chosen says they ship worldwide and, while it might take a bit longer for you to receive your card depending on what country you live in, the cards will get mailed to whatever address you provide, domestic or foreign. Last year I mailed/emailed a total of 164 cards to Italy, Canada, Germany, England, Poland, The US, The United Kingdom, Brazil, India, and Slovenia!
I’m happy to be a part of the Portal Fandom and hope to bring a smile to others in the Fandom this year! Making and emailing Holiday Cards takes time and effort, and sending physical cards is expensive. While it isn't a requirement to receive a card, I would greatly appreciate if you'd like to give $4 to cover the cost of your card or someone else's. Please visit ko-fi.com/247testing and click the Donate button if you want to help out.
Also, feel free to DM me with any questions or comments. Thanks!
Answers for common questions and concerns under the cut:
Worried about providing a mailing address, for whatever reason?
PHSI has an eCard option! All you need to provide is a name for me to call you by and an email address to receive your card!
Worried about requesting a card because you don’t live in the US?
PHSI mails to any address provided, whether domestic or foreign! However, please wait patiently for your card, due to the current global rate of shipping.
Worried that you can’t give $4 to cover the cost of your card or someone else’s?
Requesting a card from PHSI has been and will always be FREE! However, giving $4 to the initiative helps me pay for the printing service and postage to mail physical cards (visit ko-fi.com/247testing if you’d like to contribute).

Hallmark+ Streaming Service to Launch in Fall, Will Include First Holiday Limited Series, Original Movies and More
Hallmark Movies Now is undergoing a transformation. The on-demand service will be rebranded as Hallmark+, a new streaming service set to launch in mid-September, which will incorporate ad-free viewing with retail and product benefits. “Hallmark+ marks a seminal moment for Hallmark,” says Mike Perry, president and CEO, Hallmark. “By intertwining new, rich content experiences with tangible rewards and premium Hallmark gifts, we are delivering a unique, new program that reflects our commitment to spreading joy through our deeply beloved brand touchpoints.” Currently, Hallmark Movies Now plans begin at $5.99 a month or $59.99 for a year; Hallmark+ plans will start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. The membership includes exclusive benefits and rewards, including monthly $5 Hallmark Gold Crown Store coupons, free unlimited eCards, rewards for shopping, and surprise gifts.
This fall, Hallmark+ will debut their first movie trilogy told from the male’s point of view. Inspired by “The Wedding Veil” trilogy, “The Groomsmen” follows three lifelong best friends who stand up for each other at each of their big days. Jonathan Bennett, Tyler Hynes and B.J. Britt star.
Hallmark+ is set to roll out fresh content, including new genres and formats for Hallmark Media. For the first time, they’ll enter the holiday limited series space with “Holidazed,” which follows six families from different backgrounds coming together over the holidays and stars Dennis Haysbert, Erin Cahill, Holland Roden, John C. McGinley, Ian Harding and more.
The app will feature Hallmark’s foray into unscripted content as well. Coming in the fall, Jonathan Bennett will host “Finding Mr. Christmas,” a competition series to become the company’s next leading man. Lacey Chabert will honor real-life heroes in “Celebrations With Lacey Chabert.” Then, during the holiday season, Wes Brown will host “Ready, Set, Glow!” traveling to some of the most impressive, festive displays and meeting the inspirational people behind the lights.
In 2025, two more unscripted series will come to the app: “Small Town Setup,” with Ashley Williams helping parents play matchmaker for their adult kids; and “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” following Luke Macfarlane as he helps families renovate an important room in their home.
“The Chicken Sisters” adaptation series is set to debut on the app in mid-September. In addition to the previously announced cast, Margo Martindale has joined as the narrator, as James Kot, Rukiya Bernard, Ektor Rivera and Jake Foy have been added to the cast.
