The poster is by Frederick Charles Herrick, who also made an “It Is Cooler Below” advertisement.
Prints of his work can be purchased on the London Transport Museum Shop website.
if you've ever used the London Underground you might have noticed that it often gets uncomfortably hot. the reason for this is actually that its builders dug too greedily & too deep and as a result the trains are very close to the fires of hell. hope that helps.

In 1920, the Underground commissioned a poster to not only encourage attendance at an exhibition, but also to remind advertisers of the power of using the promotional spaces available at stations?
The ‘International advertising exhibition’ poster by Frederick Charles Herrick features a range of characters from advertising campaigns popular in the 1920s, many of which are still recognisable. The Bisto Kids, Mr Punch, Johnnie Walker and the Michelin Man are all waiting on the platform.
