Yeah, I definitely know what ya mean re: getting surprisingly invested in the pathos of a character who is otherwise very much meant for Absurdist Comedy, it's an interesting little wrinkle.

As for the pic, it's a really great way to play the concept! The teasing way Freakazoid's shadow reacts and the note-perfect translation of Dexter's original design into your style keep us grounded in the feel of the show itself, but you add in all the right notes to make it feel a bit more Dramatic. The genuinely Spooky feel of the shadow, the way Dexter clutches his Computer Stuff to his chest, the unmistakable melancholy of his expression...it's all rendered very clearly and very effectively!

Getting into it:

(This is a long old rant, my overall rating is at the end of the post.)

Well. Something that means absolutely nothing to anybody except myself I should say is, I hate the second episode in a series 90% of the time. Most of the time in a show I enjoy the pilot and feel like the follower absolutely bombs. I can probably count on one hand the episode 2s I enjoy. 'Wendigo' is one of them. The show had been on in the background for years of my life before I started watching it myself, and I had never seen this one. When I finally sat down to give it a shot, I was not looking forward to this, but man I have to say, this is one of my favourite episodes in this season. I mentioned about the woman in white being something I used in a university project and a wendigo also makes it on that list. It's such an interesting monster I hadn't even heard of before this show, and it's such a goddamn freakazoid how could I not enjoy that? The art department popped off too. This thing is so nightmarish, and the details we hear rather than see really top it off. I'm terrified of mimicry as a concept, ever since watching Bambi 2 as a child (iykyk), and knowing it was once a person for some reason gets to me. It's one of my favourite monsters, and I'm actually glad they didn't overuse this one.

There's a scene where Hayley finds her missing brother's phone at the ruined campsite, she gets really choked up about that in particular. The boys have a heart to heart at the campfire, and you can see Dean's big brother instincts kicking in, more resentment towards John shows up in Sammy and he shows how much he's struggling with the death of Jess.

I'm a big fan of both of these songs, I don't look into the choice to use them so much but they're in there and it gets my head bopping a bit so I think that's a win.

Dean is so sassy in this episode (as in most episodes in the earlier seasons) like the m&ms, 'sweetheart I don't wear shorts' and then without a word he just...gets INTO taunting that beast. Like I said this thing is terrifying so the fact that seasoned hunter Dean Winchester, killing machine denim wrapped nightmare just neener neeners this fucking wretched devil of a guy, is so funny to me. 'You want some white meat, bitch?' Dean please stfu.

Extra stuff: Dean is sassy in this episode, but Sam is angry. He has got a white knuckle grip around that anger stage of grief and honestly, knowing what I do about the rest of this show I am kinda glad. He's the gentler brother for sure, but at times it's good to be reminded that Sam Winchester is dangerous, he's scary, he had a terrible upbringing, raised to be a killer, ruthless and dangerous. He's aggressive in this episode, he's still got the death of his girlfriend fresh in his mind and he's pulled back into the life he swore off for the rest of his life.

And finally, probably my favourite things about this episode (save the family business line): the flare gun kill. I can't describe how much I enjoy this but I'll try; they're hunters, soldiers, whatever you want to call them, but we can all agree that they are scrappy. Crafty. They're so well trained and skilled in their "work" that finding alternatives to survive is just second nature to them. This is also quite saddening to realise that, yeah there's definitely been times in the past where they've been stuck in bad places, with very little to work with, but they had to think of something quick to survive. This probably even happened when they were kids. And Sam's reaction? Confirms this beyond any doubt for me. He's so... Cheeky here. Like he knows that the wendigo is fucked now.

If Cartoon Network or Warner Bros goes overboard, then I think it would be time if Atlus and Sega were to help them by making this Japanese Role Playing Game we would be into. That or Square Enix can help them and do a crossover with Final Fantasy much like how Disney did when they worked on Kingdom Hearts. But if Atlus and Sega were to help, then they can do a Cartoon Network version of Persona. But without Cartoon Network and their later shows, then we'll have to end up when Persona 6 comes out soon, we might end up with Warner Bros in Persona 6 as well as for Calling it Warner Bros in Persona 5 the Phantom X, since I heard about it since that game did come from China which I wasn't a fan of games that just recently been came from China because Persona is a game from Japan. And because of that, we'll still have Cartoon Network characters in it, but we'll still include Warner Bros characters in much like when working with Warner Bros in Persona 1. And with Warner Bros in Persona 1, then I had to include Tiny Toons, Looney Tunes, Freakazoid, and Scooby Doo to start with as the main cast. And for Warner Bros in Persona 5 the Phantom X, then we include all Cartoon Network and Warner Bros characters. That's what I would do to Save Warner Bros and Cartoon Network besides having Cartoon Network characters in Final Fantasy Online. The idea where characters get connected to their brains with the brain frying software, Like Sword Art or a Cartoon version of Ready Player One which Steven Spielberg would like the idea.

Looks really cool to see Spot, Riya and Miya as adults in their Adult looks while wearing the Smiling Critters Clothes for the start of Autumn. Kirby is a adult in my derivative fanworks, nothing more nothing less. He is a circle with a face on it. Literally every adult character would look exactly like him if it weren't for the armor or accessories they all wear. No it is not just because I ship Kirby with various characters. I do it for the cool factor, shipping is just a additive. I could be the kind of freakazoid who draws Ani!Kirby and Ani!Meta Knight as a couple, hell, I could draw game Kirby and Meta Knight together and make it explicitly clear that Kirby is a child for some fucked-up reason. But I don't. I never will. That's gross, and I outright avoid that content. I see so much derivative fancontent where Kirby is just this drooling with half of his brain removed child. Like, seriously, there is nothing more boring than Kirby being this cutesy wuvie huggie child to Meta Knight, it's just boring as shit. I don't get the appeal. I like when Kirby is an adult because you can do a lot more with him in derivative works. His character is more fun to write too. To clarify, in my derivative works Kirby is NEVER depicted as a child unless stated otherwise. He's more akin to how he was in older mangas/manuals when I depict him. My depictions of him is literally a vagrant-esque figure who's illiterate because of being a star-traversing adventurer before stopping on Popstar.

Synopsis: The issue begins on an alternate dimension interstate populated by some truly bizarro freakazoid drivers, the kind of monsters that Big Daddy Roth had nightmares about. These road rashin', gas guzzlin', gear-shiftin' grognards call themselves Mutato-Heads - and they're out to wreak havoc on the Sky Highway… and any other road that they can find. After Quake-Butt and his cohorts, Diddy Wah Daddy, Rusty Dusty and Bone Ugly have created enough roadkill carnage in their own dimension, they head for greener pastures…

The Turtles and Casey have driven out to the wilds of Massachusetts to enjoy their lunch, but before they can chow down, they hear the rumble of motors and head off to investigate. Sure enough, the Mutato-Heads have arrived in our dimension and are looking to hotwire Casey's '57 Chevy! This doesn't please Mr. Jones, so he and the Turtles haul feet down a mountain in the attempt to stop the heist… but they don't make it in time. With no alternative, the Turtles and Casey climb into the vehicles the Mutato-Heads have left behind and a chase ensues… one that leads our heroes all the way back to the Mutato-Heads' dimension!

The Turtles are more than a little surprised when they find themselves in an alternate reality populated by bizarro freakazoid drivers, but they're on a mission to get Casey's car back, so the guys set aside their shock and put the pedals to the metal in hot pursuit of the car thievin' Mutato-Heads. Raphael has an interesting encounter with Hildagaard Rail.

The guys get into all kinds of hot water, wrecking numerous vehicles and piloting new ones as they pursue the bandits. Eventually everyone ends up in one car as they try to catch the thieves. Unfortunately they discover that there's a bad side-effect to being in this dimension - it's turning Casey into a Mutato-Head! Realizing that they have to get back to their own to save Casey, the guys make one last desperate attack to get the Chevy back.

The Turtles' assault has unexpected results, however, as both the trashed vehicle the TMNT are in and Casey's car go tumbling over the side of the Sky Highway - and like the name implies - there's no ground to be seen for miles! As everyone freefalls into apparent oblivion, they suddenly warp out of the monstrous dimension and wind up in an empty parking lot back on Earth - safe and sound! Thankfully Casey has reverted back to his normal bizarro self.

The guys spot Casey's car and run over to battle the Mutato-Heads… except they don't find the monsters, they find four ordinary men! The one-time car thieves apologize for stealing Casey's car and blame it on being mutated. Casey lets them off and sends them back to their beat up jalopy as he and the Turtles head for home in the '57 Chevy.

The four men climb into what's left of their car and drive off. As they discuss the jobs that they'll be returning to, they discover something that they didn't expect… they liked their lives better as Mutato-Heads! So the foursome heads back into the dimensional portal and return to the Sky Highway, to once again wreak havoc as Quake-Butt, Diddy Wah Daddy, Rusty Dusty and Bone Ugly!

You can call me Pichu, long time fan, by now an adult. I'm working on a reboot and I'll be honest there's always a bunch of ideas wracked around my brain for this show.

Currently working on a small project known as Freakaspective-- where I'm planning on going through the episode bit-by-bit, and giving my semi review semi thoughts (mostly jokes) on them, as well as giving thoughts as to how they could potentially be used for any reboot ideas.

I may be working on a reboot attempt here and there and have restarted it a lot-- I'll likely post when I make a formal attempt, but for anyone curious about 'Glitch in the System'-- that's gonna become my more 'casual' project, aka The One I Work On So I can Post and Not Have My brain Get Moldy.
