So I do kind of want to write something about the ending of Gundam ZZ, having now finished my rewatch. But as an aside to that, I wanted to note a few thoughts about how Judau is presented, or, rather, how he isn't presented in a romantic context by the show.
Because both Amuro and Kamille definitely have romantic aspects to their arcs. Amuro has his crush on Matilda and Fraw Bow's (unrequited) crush on him, while Kamille's relationships with Four and Fa are key to his development throughout Zeta. It's treated as part of them 'growing into manhood', in that highly tedious way of exposing a lot of uninterrogated sexism, that we nevertheless have to accept as part of the framework within which these stories were written.
But Judau doesn't have anything like that. He and Haman's rivalry is not really presented in romantic or sexual terms, at least, not directly. Haman is *scared* of Judau and transforms that into a desire to control him, and while her control of several other characters is coded in romantic terms (capital R Romantic, no less, when it comes to Mashymre), their particular dynamic is instead rooted in a push and pull over their differing world-views. Judau's embrace of straightforward emotionally-driven action is critically at odds with the puppet-mastery Haman aspires to and exposes the loneliness and pessimism beneath her approach. She's not in love with him; she's fucking furious this no-account kid could come along and be a shining example of an empathic, caring newtype, right as she'd given up on that as a possibility for humanity's future.
And with Chara, and Judau getting smothered in boobs, the titillation is entirely on her side. It's not even played as him being embarrassed by it, which, while it clearly plays into the joke about Chara being unattractive owing to her overly-sexual aspects, is still notable when there are pretty much zero examples of Judau caring about girls in that way at all. Or, in fact, girls caring about him that way.
Roux and Elle's bickering is notably devoid of any 'we want the same guy' aspects. I shall go further and say that Gundam Wiki ascribing Roux as Judau's love interest is bunk: they never once have romantic interactions and there are other good, character-based explanations for them picking the same path at the end. She and Elle butt heads for the same reason there is tension between Roux and the Shangri-La kids from the start. She's more grown-up and more invested in being the grown-up in the room, which rubs everyone else the wrong way.
Elle, meanwhile, does seem to have strong feelings for Judau but whether these should be considered romantic is actually a surprisingly slippery question. That is, obviously that's the natural read in the sense of being completely typical, but there's a sequence in the final episode that positions her feelings slightly differently.
Under a cut due to spoilers and two teenagers slapping each other.
Right before Judau heads out for his climactic confrontation with Haman, Elle tries to talk him down, since he could very well be killed. He won't listen and Beecha tries to make Elle stop, leading to her backhanding him, him slapping her, and the two of them accepting that they can't do anything except be there in the hope Judau will come back home safe.
Setting aside the gender weighting on the slapping, the part that makes Beecha really angry is Elle asking how he can let Judau go alone because, despite Beecha often disliking playing second fiddle to the other boy, he doesn't like the idea of Judau going alone either. It's just at this point, they're down to one other remaining mobile suit and the priority is protecting the ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beecha is clearly miserable about this too and his contribution here is helping Elle come to terms with the situation. What interests me is that this places Elle's emotions on the same level as his, that of a deeply concerned friend who, regardless of their differences, don't want to see any harm come to Judau. Beecha is implied to have (romantic) feelings for Elle and gets annoyed at her paying more attention to Judau, but here he's the one to express the bulk of the shared emotions. In essence, the text renders everything platonic while underscoring how the Shangri-La gang have grown closer over the course of the show.
Either that, or you go the other way and read this as Beecha's jealousy coming from his own crush on Judau, and conclude he and Elle are reaching the same conclusion about a shared romantic connection to a third person. I don't think that's likely as the intention, although who knows? Certainly Judau shows no negative reaction to an earlier comment by Roux about Beecha being cute, so maybe this is another case where polyamory was the solution.
Tumblr media
(And if this isn't a perfect summary of what kind of relationship Roux and Judau have, I don't know what is. That's not romance; that's the cosmos' peanut gallery in the making.)
Irrespective, I find it interesting how the show forecloses romantic possibilities around Judau, not by having them hook up with other people ala Fraw (crucially, there's no hint Elle and Beecha actually do form a couple), or by killing them off, but simply by placing the friendship of the group above everything else. At the end, while Kamille and Fa dance on the shore, Judau's big moment is being reunited with his sister ahead of leaving to get some greater perspective on the world.
I do wonder if this is part of Judau being a more immature character than Amuro or Kamille. After all, the point is that he doesn't 'grow up', doesn't shed his driving anger or the idea of trying to save everyone, instead carrying forward the possibility that things can change in spite of all the 'damn adults' who've harmed the world. He manages to embody Amuro's original idealism about the future without succumbing to the sin of 'doing something he can't take back' over the course of the battles he's forced into.
Again, it's either that or we add another tick in the 'asexual protagonists' column, which would also be perfectly groovy.

ive finally gotten to writing my headcanons wow. i am so good at this i dont know how to organize these. will edit over time note that my headcanons just come into mind and that some of these MAY feel off to you idk okay im organizing this mess and adding stuff amuro in my imagination is very jaded, even before the oyw in fact, if it weren't for the gundam, he would have been an absolute loser, staying in his room all day, only coming out because either number 1, fraw is very persistent for him to do something, anything and number 2, he needs to eat every once in a while he's also very bad at hygiene. nah im just throwing shade at my baby amuro im sorry HGELP anyway onto char!!!! he is absolutely the complete opposite of aforementioned habits of amuro he went to a military academy for god's sake, he would definitely be VERY particular about how he looks and smells. and also a new headcanon for char!!! he has a soft spot for sort of cutesy things (he REALLY likes rabbits.) though hides it (very badly) because manly ego and whatnot
also he speaks spanish. i dont know where i got this from i love how this post is me projecting on amuro and how my char headcanons are so normal like

Some Thoughts About the First 3 Episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam [0079] Part 1
*There are spoilers for 0079 (obviously), but also a few for The Witch from Mercury as well, so bear that in mind.
*For folks who have only watched The Witch from Mercury, and no other Gundam shows, you should be aware that in 0079, the space colonies are rebelling against the rule of Earth, and that the Gundam in this show does not have systems that hurt its pilot.
*The opening is "Tobe! GUNDAM", and while the lyrics and tune are obviously different, the music has an anthemic quality that reminds me of the GUND-Arm, Inc. promo video, and I wouldn't be surprised if the former inspired the latter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*“A half century has passed since humanity began moving…its burgeoning population into space. These gigantic space cities orbiting the Earth…became a second home to humanity…where people were born and raised…and where they died.”
*I think the opening for Mobile Suit Gundam is strong, and still holds up well today, though I wish it wasn’t repeated in future episodes (it’s understandable though as a cost-saving measure).
*The space colony cities in the show are based on O’Neill cylinders; they, and a lot of Gundam’s other space colonization concepts, such as Lagrange points, are based on the work of physicist Gerard K. O’Neill and his book The High Frontier: Human Colonies in Space (written in 1976, so about 3 years before MSG).
*The Principality of Zeon, who initiated the war with Earth and committed multiple atrocities, are mentioned as being headquartered in Side 3, which is located at Lagrange 2, behind the moon; while it's not mentioned in the wiki, this is also where Quiet Zero is located in The Witch from Mercury (and I'm sure that's definitely not a cheeky reference to it being the 'dark side' of the Moon/ sarcasm).
Tumblr media
*We start in space, with three mobile suits headed toward Side 7 to conduct a raid (a stark contrast to Suletta's start in The Witch from Mercury). These suits are of the MS-06 Zaku II model, and bear a resemblance to the MD-0031 Dilanza, both in terms of appearance, and in the sense that they're the 'grunt' suits of the show.
Tumblr media
*You may have heard that MSG has some...interesting name choices, and this is already shown with two of the Zaku pilots being named 'Slender' and 'Denim'. Regardless of how silly they might sound, it does make them a bit more memorable than you might expect, given that one of them ends up dying at the end of the episode.
*The civilians of Side 7 have mostly evacuated, with a few exceptions.
Tumblr media
*This is Fraw Bow, Amuro's friend, who will end up joining the White Base crew soon. Unlike some of the characters in 0079, I haven't encountered any major spoilers on her, so all I currently know is that she's both concerned about Amuro, but also exasperated by him.
Tumblr media
*Also, it's Haro! (I had no idea they could do that). Haros are to Gundam what Chocobos and Moogles are to Final Fantasy; in the OG show, this one was invented by the main character, Amuro Ray. Speaking of...
Tumblr media
*So, Amuro's the first Gundam pilot, which means that you'll see a lot of spoilers about him if you hang out long enough in any Gundam fandom space. All you need to know about him right now, is that while yes, he will become a famous pilot, at this time, he's a technical genius (with a strong interest in mechanics), who has no piloting skills, and a very messy room. So, basically the opposite of the latest Gundam protagonist, Suletta...but *very* similar to another character...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*It's been mentioned by others before (@daisukoth in particular, has done multiple posts about it) that Amuro and Miorine have a number of qualities in common, so I'm making it a point to note whenever I observe similarities between the two, such as not being very observant of their surroundings when they're focused on work (Miorine is *very* lucky that she's not *quite* as disastrous as Amuro is in terms of love, but we'll get into that more later on).
Tumblr media
*This is Hayato Kobayashi. I know even less about him than I do about Fraw, but he'll also be joining the White Base crew. He might have some resentment toward Amuro, since Amuro's dad is a military engineer working on a secret project that's attracted hostile attention from Zeon soldiers. And since we're talking about Amuro's dad:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Yup. Amuro and Miorine both have distant fathers who are bad at communicating with their child. I'd *like* to believe the elder Ray isn't as bad a father as Delling, but we'll get into that next time.
...to be continued in Part 2

Finally, messy girl representation! Because Gundam Princesses can also be fuckups.
Mio has a lot of things in common with Amuro, don't you think? (Horrible social skills, hot headed and impulsive, a genius but a disaster at everything else, absolutely no street smarts, acts very stupid when attracted to redheads...).
Fraw's super patient so she would get along with her, maybe...
Context in case you need to be reminded of the state of Miorine's room:

Episode 13: Shuttle Launch
all the stuff i just said aside, i am generally enjoying this, and i see why a lot of people like it better than the original, so i'm hoping i start to get into the groove now
hello mr hymen. i'm going to just keep calling him that
this opening bit genuinely does a lot to alleviate a lot of my complaints about the groundedness of the show.
interesting choice of music for amuro to listen to. i didn't really see him as the jazz ballad type
nice to see fraw bow and the orphans again. admittedly none of that is accurate anymore, but fraw kobayashi sounds weird and i can't exactly just call her fraw
horribly disappointing the orphans now look llike humans drawn in the same style as the rest of the people in the show. give me the gremlins back!
fraw kobayashi is pregnant?
soldiers keeping an eye on amuro, huh. no wonder he's just hanging out in his mansion.
amuro: kid, i've seen enough bloodshed to last a lifetime katz: you're 22! you're not that much older than me!
unclear exactly what the deal is with karaba, but i appreciate the sense that this is an actual civil war. prior to this it felt kind of like the whole thing had been secret until episode 1, which made it feel way weirder
kai has to run to the bathroom during an important meeting.
so karaba is able to take over a facility like this, but not keep it
hayato passing the guncannon while worrying about kai is really nice
"captain quattro, he is A CHAR." i never would have guessed
very funny how kai starts off this spy letter with pleasantries
hayato: "it is a cowardly action on char's part to use a false name..." not what he said. i can read the letter, it did not say that
yeah bright has experience with fighting while doing other things. idk how much of that was actually his doing though
did hayato just expose kai's excellent spywork to quattro?
this shuttle looks old as shit compared to the rest of these.
quattro still denying he's char is very funny. no one buys it
hayato why would you encourage him to take power?
even kamille is bullying him now
hayato: listen, everyone knows. what's the harm in acknowledging it? quattro, through gritted teeth: my name is quattro bajeena [kamille punches him across the room somehow, despite them being on earth]
oh good, the federation is attacking
rip that guy. rip roberto too
i don't feel like that shoulder maneuver should have worked
this whole fight was decent
this episode felt really good. the show seemed like it got back on its feet to an extent, like this was what it was wanting to do the whole time. it's more of a direct sequel than it's been till now. it hasn't exactly solved my complaints, but the aim of the show feels different enough that i care less

7, 12 and 19!
( you can pick any muse/muses you want. ♡ )
7. What was the most embarrassing moment in your muse’s life?
Banagher: Absolutely the time that Audrey told him to his face that he didn't need him. All of that confidence... (💧)
Amuro: Fraw coming over to his house pre-war during a time that his father was away for work, and noticing how messy it was. It was the first time she had seen it like that, and it was almost horrifying.
Kamille: When Fa cut his hair for the first time after he came out to her. He'll never forget how it stuck up because of how she cut it...!
12. What are some warning signs that your muse is getting depressed?
Banagher: His dissociation gets worse. It's almost hard to notice usually - but when he's getting bad, he goes completely catatonic. It'll be half an hour of staring off into the distance, and he won't respond to even the loudest of sounds.
Amuro: He gets even more cagey and isolated, but hides his feelings much better than he usually does. Amuro isn't the kind to want people to worry about him - so when he notices that he's starting to feel worse and entering an episode, he pushes everyone away with excuses that make it seem normal. "I just have a lot of work to do," "I'm sick," "Fixing a new car is taking up all of my time, I'm sorry!"
Meanwhile, he hasn't left his room in days.
Kamille: He gets twice as irritable as he usually is, often yelling without meaning to or being able to stop it. It embarrasses him, but he really can't control it no matter how hard he tries. It usually ends up in more isolation, because he hates feeling like he's become like his mother.
19. Do they have any distinct voice mannerisms? (e.g. saying ‘like’ or ‘um’ a lot, stutters)
Banagher: Because of his chronic dissociation, Banagher often completely forgets what he's saying mid sentence. This results in really long "ummm"s - and when he's getting particularly frustrated by not being able to recover the memory, he makes soft clicking noises with his mouth to calm himself down. He hates feeling abnormal - and forgetting makes it so much worse.
Amuro: When he gets embarrassed or frustrated, he starts stuttering. The stutter often frustrates him more, so he'll just keep himself from talking completely if he finds that he can't get the words out. Depending on the situation and who he's with, he'll simply communicate using Newtype abilities, or sign language.
He picked up sign language because Fraw suggested it to him after the OYW. His nonverbal episodes got worse because of his PTSD, and he would frequently get upset when he couldn't respond - so she suggested that he learn sign language. He knows ASL, LSM, and JSL, though all at widely different levels of fluidity. He uses LSM and ASL less frequently than JSL.
Kamille: He often stims with his voice! He says "uh" a lot generally, and popping "p" sounds while he's thinking of what to say - but in terms of stimming, he'll sometimes make random noises with no known origin, or animal noises. His favorite stim is to meow, for some reason - it might have something to do with a brief hyperfixation on cats as a child.
On the Argama, he tends to try and subdue his stimming more - which frustrates him to the point of going into his room just to stim in privacy. Sometimes Quattro will notice him getting upset before he freaks out and take him into another room to help him let out his frustrations via stimming with Kamille. Quattro is awkward about it, but he'll make weird animal noises to help Kamille feel better about it anyway.

.:: Historically Attested Offerings for the Major Spirits (i.e. the Gods) in Traditional Witchcraft ::.
Let’s try to go back with our mind to the IX-X centuries. In 906 CE a legend starts circulating, initially in the Franco-Germanic area, and then in all Europe. It’s the legend of a procession of Spirits, led by a female character, a Lady of the Night, a “Domina Nocturna”. This Domina and her procession passed from house to house during particular days. For this occasion, people cleaned and ordered their house, in order not to let her find it untidy or dirty. These people also left at night something to eat and drink on the table of their kitchen, knowing that the procession would have come. According to this ancient belief, the spirits would have appreciated the banquet, spiritually savoring it and filling its material remnants with blessings. Then all the procession would have danced and finally the Domina would have taken her wand and blessed the whole house and its inhabitants to thank them for the hospitality received. The heart of the Historical Traditional Witchcraft is this. The witch was the human who had the privilege to go with this procession still being alive. This same procession, in later centuries, would have become the “Ludus Bonae Societatis”, i.e. the “Game of the Good Society” (the “Good Society” was the set of all the witches in the world) or Sabbath. So the Offering was not just a simple act, was the complementary of the Flying with her spirit along with the procession. With the Offering you gave the food for the Domina and her retinue, with the Flying you took the food that others gave.
The Theory:
From Carlo Ginzburg's "Night Battles":
"The Thesaurus pauperum of 1468 condemned “the idolatrous superstition of those who left food and drink at night in open view for Abundia and Satia, or, as the people said, Fraw Percht and her retinue, hoping thereby to gain abundance and riches.” The same practice of offering drink, salt, and food to Perchta, “alias domine Habundie,” on certain days had been taken note of and subsequently condemned in 1439 by Thomas Ebendorfer von Haselbach in De decem praeceptis."
"There is a reference to these nocturnal hordes guided by a female figure in a work by William of Auvergne (d. 1249). According to the common people, a mysterious divinity (but in reality a devil, William explained) called Abundia or Satia, wandered at night through houses and cellars, accompanied by her followers, eating and drinking whatever they could find: if she came upon food and bread left as offerings, she bestowed prosperity on the house and its inhabitants; otherwise she withdrew and refused her protection."
From Claude Lecouteux's "Phantom Armies of the Night":
"This custom was observed throughout the entire Middle Ages, as the clerical literature testifies. It is mentioned by Césaire of Arles (died 542), St. Boniface (675–754), the pseudo- Augustine (eighth century), Atto de Vercelli (died 960), Yves de Chartres (d. 1040), and Gratien (d. before 1179), and others. The canonists and clerics note that offerings or gifts are placed on the set table (mensas cum dapibus vel epulis in domibus preparare). Sometimes the rite is referred to by two words: mensas ornare. A Munich manuscript from the Alderspach Monastery alludes to those who “garnish their table for Percht.”"
From Jeffrey Burton Russell's "Witchcraft in the Middle Ages":
"Another popular story relating to witchcraft has to do with the wild ride and the bonae. A typical version from about 1254 is told by Jacques de Vitry in his Golden Legend. One evening, St. Germain of Auxerre was dining at the home of a friend. After they had risen from the table, the hosts began, to Germain's astonishment, to set the table again. When asked why, they said that they were preparing for the good ladies who ride out at night".
The Practice:
- How to understand which Major Spirit to worship?
First of all, let’s state that this choice must be a considered choice; it is a matter of building a link with a Spirit, a bond that will probably last for your lifetime. Therefore it absolutely cannot be taken lightly.
After we understand this, the first thing to do is to see if there have been trials for witchcraft in our area (or the area our Ancestors came from, if we are Americans or Australians). Usually the most useful trials are those before the mid-1500s, because roughly on this date the Church begins to associate witchcraft with devil and therefore we risk finding trials where there is Satan at the head of witches and no more, for example, Diana, Herodias, the Lady of the Game or other characters. The later trials are therefore completely useless for our purposes.
By analyzing these trials if they are any and/or local folklore (for example, by reading books of local popular legends, especially legends related to witches), we must pay attention to: - the names of the characters who lead the witches; - the names of the characters who lead the fairies; - the names of the characters who lead the the Wild Hunt/Procession of the Dead; - the names of characters who are present in folklore which come from pre-Christian Deities.
Once we obtained the names that are linked to the region we choose as a reference point, we have to choose one of these names, the one of the Spirit that we feel closer to us. The Major Spirit we would have chosen will become our Patron Major Spirit.
- How to perform the “Offerings Table” for our Patron Major Spirit?
The Offerings Table for our Patron Major Spirit is very simple, it’s nothing else but a table laden with food and drinks for our Patron Major Spirit and his/her retinue (of which we have just spoken). Here's how to do it:
1) We start by carefully cleaning and ordering our entire house (or at least the room in which we will perform this ritual, usually the kitchen).
2) We set the kitchen table (or alternatively an altar, if we cannot use the kitchen and we are forced to work in other rooms), putting a clean tablecloth, napkins, cutlery, plates, glasses, a bottle of wine or other drinks and a banquet worthy of a king (we're talking about important spirit, after all!). We will dispose, then, a first course, a second course, a side dish and a dessert or fruit. They will also need one or more chairs, in order not to make our guests stand up.
3) Let's affirm our will to leave these offerings for our Patron Major Spirit and his/her following, by saying something like this: "[Name of the Major Spirit], I offer you this banquet. May this night you, together with your retinue, enter my humble abode that I have set up for you, clean and tidy. May you eat the food and drink the wine [or the drink of your choice] that I prepared for you, dance in my home and bestow your blessings on me, on this house and on all those who live here! I also entreat you, [name], after having consumed the spiritual qualities of this food and this wine, may you and your procession fill them with prosperity, so that tomorrow, when I will wake up, may I eat their material remains and assimilate in me every good that you have instilled in it! So mote it be!"
4) We can light incense (and saying something like "I offer you this perfume to cheer you up, [Name of the Major Spirit], may you appreciate it and give your blessings to me, to my house and to those who live here!") and leave one or more musical instruments on the table (saying something like "I leave these instruments for your joy, [Name], and for that of your procession. May you use them to cheer your banquet and revive even more your already magnificent party while you stay as honored guests in my house!"). These additions were made by Women from Outside (Sicilian practitioners) but are not found everywhere, so it is a licit - but not mandatory - variation.
5) We can customize even more by adding candles to illuminate the working area, representative candles of our Patron Major Spirit, representations or images of him/her, flowers, and so on. These are modernizations (perhaps except for candles to illuminate the working area), but if you feel you want to insert them you are free to do so, as long as you are aware that it is just modernization, and that the basic practice is the offering of the banquet.
6) When we wake up (or at lunchtime), we will approach the prepared table, thank the Major Spirit, we will sit down and eat. An example of a sentence to say as a thanksgiving is the following: "[Name of the Major Spirit], I thank you for having entered my home tonight, together with your retinue! Thank you for having consumed the spiritual qualities of this food and this wine [or the chosen beverage] that I prepared for you! Thank you for having celebrated inside my house and, above all, thank you for having bestowed your blessings on me, on my home and on all those who live here! Thank you for having filled this food and this wine, after having eaten and drank, with prosperity and abundance! May I assimilate your blessings by eating the material remnants of the banquet that I offered you! May I absorb in me all the good that you have instilled in it! So mote it be! Thank you, [Name], thanks to you and your retinue!"
7) So we will eat, will drink and when completed, we’ll thank again our Patron Major Spirit and his procession, greet him/her and move away from the room after putting everything back into place.
- When will we perform the “Offerings Table”?
The Major Spirit is the main Familiar Spirit of the witch. So, as for every Familiar Spirit, the witch has the duty to nourish him/her, to feed him/her. Not because he/she needs offerings to survive (Spirits are immortal!) but because in this way we can feed the bonding, the relationship between us and the spirit. For this reason, we should treat the offering and its frequency as we should treat our relationship with food. Would we eat once in a month? I don’t believe so. In the past the witch fed her Familiar Spirit, it was said that s/he offered him/her something to eat at least once a day to nourish him/her. Today some people can decide to make an offering every day, others several times a week, others only once a week, but in my opinion we should not fall below this frequency.

Episode 9: Fly, Gundam
it rules seeing the show go from "every battle just leaves more widows and orphans like me and my son" and amuro nearly killing 2 men for the crime of trying to help a struggling mother to the standard heroic opening
i like how sayla is responsible for everything in this ship. bet she's kind of sick of it though. "you can't sleep? sayla's a med school dropout, you should talk to her!"
fraw bow fussing over amuro while amuro gets paranoid about the whole "amuro only pawn in game of life" thing is very sad
them being told "just figure it out" as the plan of action from the federation higherups is interesting when you consider amuro doesn't really feel he's a part of either side
kai fat shaming this cook while looking the smuggest anyone has ever been in history
amuro saying more or less "i'd eat better, but i can't do that if i'm with other people who can't" is a good moment
feel like i say this almost every episode, but i love that this show is addressing things like food scarcity in ways that feel like they impact the characters
it's nice of them to be so understanding of amuro during wartime
lmao garma's suit is the same color as his hair.
bright: "we don't have time for philosophy! we're going to die" amuro, implicitly: "i would rather die than pilot the gundam" bright: slaps him for being depressed, more than once. "your dad should have been more abusive!"
man, even fraw bow is getting in on it.
me: i am fundementally opposed to the use of child soldiers in battle, and war more broadly. history is a record of their atrocities my therapist: that's fair me: but i do think fraw bow should get to pilot the gundam my therapist: who doesn't
"just aim for the trojan horses engines" is a good strategy. i've been wondering, why do they call it the trojan horse?
hey what the fuck did char just do? what was that cord?
i will say, the physics in this show are super wonky. but whatever, it doesn't bug me too bad this episode, since at least it's trying to explain it
so bright, since you're so impressed, are you going to apologize for hitting him?
oh so he's just trying to get garma killed. garma had a decent plan going, he could have fucked the gundam up if char hadn't interfered.
i guess amuro is a newtype? i think that's what she means by esper
i was going to say i really liked how the show treated lt. matilda, but then it ruined it with the whole "scent of a woman" thing
the esper stuff sort of comes out of nowhere, but since i sort of knew about it going in it doesn't bug me too much. the show is already clearly super influenced by star wars, so i guess adding jedi isn't that much of a stretch. and that's og star wars, so not even jumping around or force pulling a lightsaber, if newtypes are just jedi than they can probably only sense things and maybe mind control, though i doubt that last one. probably wouldn't have much room to come up anyways.

Episode 33: Farewell in Side 6
i believe this is where mirai's fiance was, so my guess is we'll get an episode featuring the 2 of them
guess we'll be getting a good look at dozle now? we saw him a bit early on, but not much since. good luck destroying white base
sayla is also on board with my platform of 'amuro needs to be nicer to fraw bow'
what's up with these guys? they don't seem like normal zeon troops
that's neat, it divides in half. so they were the engineering department testing it out?
i like side 6 coming up and sealing all their weapons
the logistics seem weird to me though, i've never understood how you stay neutral in a civil war. i guess maybe it isn't a civil war? i guess i'll watch the origin eventually to learn more about what the deal is there. or if anyone wants to explain it that'd also work
oh this lawyer dweeb is mirai's fiance? lmao
bright may be jealous, but also they are very much doing a risky procedure that could go very wrong
it doesn't seem like she was hiding, so you can't have been looking that hard
laughed out loud at sleggar floating up towards them, taking off cameron's glasses and then punching him across the room. credit where it's due
weird vibes from sleggar saying mirai's like a mother. don't care for that
every time i see his name i say it out loud. it's such a perfect name, up there with kraalnor the soul taker
this guy chewing char out is very funny, because is there anyone else out there who's fought the white base and lived to tell the tale? definitely not more than once
i love char, he's such an asshole.
the guy who shows up this episode to get killed by the white base being the first person in the series to question the mask is very funny
infiltrating and attacking neutral nations is usually a good idea in war time. i wonder why more people don't try it
i love seeing side 6, this is super cool
OH SHIT????? AMURO'S DAD!!!
i guess he survived???????
dang, amuro's in shape if he can keep up with that bus
his dad is so casual about it. 'you probably thought i was dead for a while there, but how's the war machine i built to try and keep you from fighting doing? you're piloting it, right?'
amuro must be so confused. his dad is acting like he never left. also he's completely unsurprised to see amuro somehow
i know his name is tem, but i'm not calling him that
'i know you haven't seen me in months* and you had no clue what had happened to me and must have assumed the worst, but here's a gundam part, now get out of here *though i guess it might have been less than two which is a depressing thought
hey, amuro's dad, what happened to not wanting children to fight anymore? fuck off with this
this is a real downer
i absolutely do not trust mr bergamino
i guess he's just a war profiteer, so i'm right to not trust him but he isn't betraying them or anything
12 rick doms is a lot, but they aren't even sweating
yeah, char doesn't seem so incompetent now
an international incident? i really don't understand what's up with this
this is some pretty blatant corruption
good for mirai getting away from this guy. strong george ushiromiya vibes from him
good episode! lotta stuff crammed in here, even with the shoehorned in mobile armor bit, and the mirai stuff and amuro's dad stuff were both really strong
