“squirrelflight realized bramblestar wasn’t himself because he was actually acting nice to her” i don’t think you guys read the books actually.
listen, it’s a fun angst headcanon, it truly is, it would’ve been very fun if it was true. but there’s no evidence backing it in the text. squirrelflight realized there was something wrong because bramblestar was acting weirdly selfish and cruel such as when he took food before the elders or when he was forcing her to not do her duties as deputy. she did not classify his coddling of her to be nice btw. she did not think “wow this guy is finally treating me good that’s so weird” she thought “this guy is infantilizing and coddling me and our relationship now, that’s so weird”. she also says from her own words she only put it together AFTER rootpaw told her so!!!
would’ve been a fun angst headcanon, but sorry. the whole point of ashfur coming back as the imposter is to show he wouldn’t have been a good mate to squirrelflight even if they DID stay together.
#i do think people over exaggerate squirrelflights angst at times but eh you do you#just want to set the facts straight#also i saw someone say bramblestars ghost was trapped in his body but with the imposter controlling it on his own and like.. no?#that guy was out of the body and was so permanently the moment he got out#could have been cool but that’s not what happened#frans reads the broken code#the broken code#warrior cats#squirrelflight#ashfur#bramblestar

I really love the Codigo Amistad slow paced background music
Idk, there is something to it that makes me so happy. It feels kind of nostalgic in a way. I’ve felt that about it ever since I first heard it.
Codigo Amistad is in many ways a very cheesy song about friendship, the friendship between girls specifically. And while it can get a bit stereotypical with some lines, I don’t think it matters in the context of the show, as Fran wrote the song thinking of her friends and the friendship she experienced with them specifically. They take this song seriously in the show’s context, their friendship code should not be broken, Francesca writes the lyrics of it on her social media blog-page and everyone reading finds it inspiring, and it’s one of the things that gets Violetta to stop feeling mad at her.
And the slow paced background music just adds that extra layer to it. The normal version is just a silly song about girlhood and friendship, but this version? It feels like you remember something beautiful in your past. Nostalgia. It feels like everything is gonna be alright.
What do you think about the slow-paced background version of this song?

Day 1 Whumptober - Heel Boy
Guard dog au!
Read on ao3
fic below the cut
Sam wakes with a start. He fumbles for the lamp beside his bed clicking it's lever on. Light floods the small bedroom casting away the shadows only moments before he was convinced it was hiding. His dream echos in his mind. He was running through the forest branches whipping at him as he crashed through them. The only sign he was going in the right direction were the strangled cries of a child just out of reach. He rubs his eyes trying to push away the image of him. So young. He stands up; there's no use trying to sleep anymore. This is the fifth night in a row, he has to tell Quackity.
---
"-And he just kept running and running… What do you think it means?"
"It means. You're a genius Sam."
"I'm a what?"
"We've been focused on making him listen but that doesn't mean shit if he runs off. We need to make sure he never wants to run away again."
"How do we do that?"
"You know how they Teach a dog to come back?"
"Uh, no Fran just does that on her own. I thought-"
"You let them go. Then you call them back. If they don't come you put them on a short leash. Do it enough and they will come everytime you call."
"So if you don't want your dog to walk away at all,"
"You punish them every time they get too far.” Quackity smiles. That smile he gets before yet another plan is set into emotion. That smile that another problem is going to be solved.
That was the start of their training in the courtyard. It had been a month and today was their first test.
"Come on Dream I am being so incredibly nice letting you into the courtyard all of these days, the least you could do is walk faster."
"m-"
"Before you say I do not care about your leg. You can walk so do it faster." Quackity led Dream into the courtyard, the thick iron leash connecting them scraping against the ground. Once they reached the middle of the room Quackity turned to face Dream a fake smile plastered on his face. "I am feeling nice today so." He stepped forward, Dream flinched back. "Relax. I am giving you a gift." He unhooked the chain from Dream's collar. "There."
"I-" Dream looked around the room greed in his eyes. Sam knew what he wanted. His hand tensed. Dream stumbled towards the artificial river, half-broken leg wobbling. Sam counted his steps. One,,, Two,,, Three,,, on Ten he notched his arrow and shot. Dream fell to the ground hissing. Blood splattering on the ground from where Sam’s arrow bit through his shoulder. Just dangerous enough to send a message. He looked over at Sam, wide eyes asking the wrong questions.
"Dream. What have we been doing recently?"
"I don't-" Quackity presses his heel onto Dream's shoulder, the blood from it seeping into the ground.
"Think."
Dream gasps, hand pulling his hair. "Chain. Leash. Y- you have been guiding me. I. I need to do what you say?"
Quackity presses down harder, Dream screams. "Stay close to us." He removes his foot, wiping the blood off into the grass. "Stand up"
Dream holds his shoulder mouth pinched just short of a frown, but he doesn't step away from Quackity.
---
It was another month before it was automatic. Whenever they were in the same room as Dream he stayed close refusing to leave their side until instructed. But they needed to test just how loyal he was to his new code.
It was a simple test. They took him to the courtyard and tied him to a tree. Quackity walks to the other side of the room and waits. Dream fights. He twists and turns and strains against the ropes and chains binding him. He kicks up the dirt and scrapes bark off the tree. He squirms until crack something gives. He screams, it's guttural and desperate and pained but he doesn't stop fighting. Quackity smiles and walks over to him. It's the same smile he gave Sam 2 months ago "Heel boy".

Code Realize Playthrough - Fran’s Route - Chapter 13: A Princess’s Knight (Happy Ending)
Warning: Spoilers. Image heavy post.
It’s the last day of 2019, and finally, I’ve managed to finish the last chapter of Fran’s route in my Code Realize’s playthrough~! The CGs for this chapter were all great, that I’ve trouble deciding which to use as a chapter header XD I’ve been wanting to see the above CG ever since I saw it on their official website, so I’m thrilled to finally see the scene for it~ <3
Beware there might be countless fangirling over Fran in this chapter, here we go~!
Time counts down to the last 30 minutes.
Fran and Cardia ran down the long corridor, trying their best to catch up to Victoria. Cardia could feel that her condition was getting worse and worse, even as she tried to keep up with Fran’s pace. Fran realised that, and hugged her close to him, saying that he wished to switch places with her so she doesn’t have to suffer anymore.
(Is it me or is Fran’s face seems bigger than usual >/////<)
Cardia thought that there’s just too little time remaining to save her, and felt that to protect Fran and the others, she had to stop Victoria, and before she became a monster that, she would have to kill herself, touching the dagger that she had taken from the twilight soldiers from earlier on. However, Fran noticed her action and affirmed her that he would not let her do that, telling her that he would not be happy if Cardia died and left him surviving instead.
(Doesn’t want to leave Fran alone in this world like this after he said that seriously T/////T)
After listening to Fran’s words, Cardia wanted to believe his words, wanting to catch onto the hope that both of them could survive and live a bright future together. But whenever she thought about that, her past memories will sneak up on her, reminding her of the time that someone had died in her place when she tried to live. She revealed her past to Fran, letting out that she’s scared and didn’t want such a thing to happen again, as even imaging that Fran would die because of her poison was too painful for her. She remembered how much her heart has ached when Fran had disappeared for a long time after she had decided to stay at the mansion, so if Fran were to die, it pains her heart that she would never see him again...
But Fran simply smiled and assured Cardia that he isn’t going to die. He felt that Cardia and he were the same where they both felt guilty that their poison had killed people, as Fran felt responsible for creating it. They had both seen people dying of the poison right before their eyes, and thus Fran felt that he was no different than Cardia, and in fact, his guilt may be even greater than hers. He continued on that perhaps his guilt was part of why he can’t bear to leave Cardia alone, though he isn’t looking for redemption nor forgiveness with his action for helping her. Seeing Cardia suffering the same pain as he does, he just... wanted to save her.
(Fran’s smile is the best <3)
As much as he’s determined to drive away Cardia’s fears and doubts, he wanted her to promise him that she won’t give up and trust him until the very last moment.
(Who would not want to promise him at this time! ><”)
Fran’s words made Cardia’s feelings that she had tried to hide at the bottom of her heart rise up again, as she revealed her inner thoughts that she actually didn’t want to give up either as she wanted to live with Fran too. He smiled, took off his gloves and reached out to Cardia’s cheeks. Cardia tried to hide away from his attempts, but Fran forcefully pulled her towards him and placed both of his hands on her cheeks.
Cardia panicked, worrying that she would end up burning Fran’s hands, but his hands don’t smell nor melt and was confused about how he was able to touch her. Fran explained he had known that the poison would disappear from Zicterium at times, especially now that it was transforming, which Cardia remembered that her poison was unable to melt the rope from earlier on. He was glad that he was finally able to touch Cardia, while Cardia was immersed in her first sensation of the human touch, with Fran whispering to her that he doesn’t want to let her go... (Awww~)
Fran told Cardia that he understood her fear and suffering, and knew that both of them can’t run away from the sins they had committed. But what he could do now was to stay with Cardia, and both of them could carry that weight together. He remembered that Cardia had told him that she doesn’t care he’s a criminal, and now, he wanted to tell her that he too, doesn’t care that she’s a criminal too. He confessed his love for Cardia and told her that even if she had abandoned all hope she has, he would never ever abandon her...
(I have to say I sort of teared up after reading this part. I’ll be really touched if someone told me this seriously >/////<)
After listening to Fran’s words, Cardia started wishing for a future with Fran desperately, a future that she doesn’t even dare to dream of in the past. And in order to make that future becomes a reality, she’s prepared to fight to the end of the earth for it.
As much as they would want to continue to immerse in this romantic mood, time was running out and they had to move on. Fran had noticed that Cardia looked disappointed, and remarked that her disappointed face was adorable. They held hands together and started running off again, with Cardia knowing that all she had to do now, was to trust Fran and keep going forward.
Time counts down to 20 minutes.
Fran and Cardia were shocked to see a huge tree in a room at the end of the corridor, and wondered whether that was the diffusion device. Nevertheless, they need to put a stop to Victoria’s plan, she had spotted them arriving, and asked them whether they had decided to accept her suggestion from earlier on.
Fran was stern as he told her that they’re not here to obey to her, since their motive here was to stop her plan. But Victoria simply smirked, telling them that they won’t be able to stop the device now that it is already working unless they destroy it. Fran declared determinedly that he would destroy the machine since he had gained some knowledge under the care of Isaac last time, he knew how to destroy it.
But before Fran could take another step towards the machine, Leonhardt stepped forward and stopped him, saying that he would not allow anyone to interfere with Queen Victoria’s plans. Leonhardt knew that Fran was not good at combat battling since he’s not a soldier, but even then, he would not show any mercy towards him, being determined to stop Fran at all cost.
However, rather than battling Leonhardt, Fran put down the test tubes in his hands instead, which made Victoria wondered whether he was surrendering to them. But Fran replied that he’s not surrendering and instead this was how he battles. Even if Fran was not attacking him, Leonhardt was determined to fight him nevertheless, and charged towards him, shouting at Fran to pick up his weapon and fight him. However, Fran shook his head, even stopping Cardia to come to his aid, firmly stating that this was his fight. He turned to Leonhardt, telling him that his action was to rule the world with power, he doesn’t want to be like Leonhardt and declared that he would fight in his own way.
Leonhardt swung his sword on Fran, who silently endured all of his blows when these attacks were powerful enough to break his bones. Leonhardt had been using the other side of his sword to fight Fran, urging him to pick up his weapon and fight him once again since if he turned his blade this time round, Fran would definitely get killed by him. But Fran shook his head, saying that it doesn’t matter to him to give up here to prevent getting killed by Leonhardt since they would all end up dying anyway if they decided to join Victoria’s plan. Seeing that Fran refused to back down, Leonhardt dealt more blows on him, and with a terrible sound of something breaking, Fran was forced to fall down onto the floor. (Yikes, sound like his bone had broken at some part of his body TWT)
Cardia wanted to rush over to Fran’s side to help him, but he told her to stay away using his eyes. Finally, Victoria spoke, reminding them that they’re running out of time, and with a sad smile, declared that today was her last day as the Queen.
(This sad smile of Queen Victoria was heartbreaking after I’ve known her back story later on...)
However, Fran declared that he shall not let things end, with a gaze so strong and intense that it even made Leonhardt took a step back. Leonhardt tried to persuade Fran to back down and obey them since if he agreed, Cardia would be safe. But Fran knew that they would all end up dying (other than Cardia maybe) if they had all proceed along on Victoria’s plans, and he didn’t want to lose his life just to save the ones he had cared about. Fran had always seen himself as a cowardly man, but even so, Cardia had chosen to love him. That’s why he didn’t want to die and end up leaving Cardia surviving alone! Fran’s way of “fighting” was to stand in Leonhardt’s way to convince him that fighting with violence was not the way to solve things in this situation. Initially, Leonhardt was unwavering in his decision to heed to Queen Victoria’s plans, but after hearing Fran’s words that the plan would not minimise the damage to the world but instead what they’re doing now was just murder, spreading fear, and using power force the rest of the world to accept their views, Leonhardt started to doubt himself. He thrust his sword forward to try to break free of his doubts, and... ended up stabbing one of Fran’s legs. (Ouch, Fran... TWT)
But even so, Fran gritted his teeth and grab onto Leonhardt when he tried to pull the blade out, and let out his regret that he had not fight back back then when he had the chance to. Leonhardt replied that whatever he had thought about the plans may not matter, since his role as a knight was to support Queen Victoria and protect her. Fran yelled back in protest that Leonhardt was not doing his role in protecting her at all since the Queen was heading down a path of no return at this rate.
(I remember hearing this line in Code Realize’s PV and had been wondering for a long time in what circumstances would Fran say this, and here is it~)
Leonhardt pulled out his blade from Fran and that made him collapsed to the ground. Victoria coldly demanded Leonhardt to kill Fran but when Leonhardt was about to do that, Cardia could not bear it any longer and dashed between him and Fran, shielding Fran. Fran didn’t want her to do that, but Cardia declared that she didn’t want to move aside and this was her battle too. Victoria did not see Cardia as an obstacle to stop her at this moment, and demanded Leonhardt to kill her too, which made Leonhardt realised how wrong the Queen’s order was finally since there’s no way he could murder a helpless woman that was just trying to protect her friend. (But... I don’t think they’re just friends now >////<)
As Leonhardt and Victoria ended up in a confrontation with each other, Fran looked up to Cardia and smiled. thanking her for protecting him again. His face turned serious as he decided that this was his chance to try to stop the machine. Though this may be the wrong path for Queen Victoria, she said that she can’t stop her plan now, and seeing that Leonhardt was unwilling to help her stop Fran, she decided to do it herself then. But Leonhardt stopped her, which pissed her off and shouted at Leonhardt for trying to stop her plans too, even after he had known how much she had sacrificed for this plan. (Which Cardia noticed that this was the first time she had seen the Queen lost her cool and calm posture.)
The device began to rumble, but Fran was not giving up, and as Cardia was praying, suddenly everything came to a still and became silent, with Fran proudly declaring that he had managed to deactivate it and had even activated it to self-destruct after a while, so Victoria can never make use of it again. Thus, Victoria had lost.
Seeing Victoria dumbfounded face as she looked up, Cardia realised that she looked like an abandoned child, which is drastically different from the strong and confident woman she had seen before. But after a brief moment, she was back to her usual self and declared that even if they had stopped the device, the plan she had in mind was still in motion. She planned to make use of Cardia when she had turned into a monster since she doesn’t believe that Fan has the time nor strength remaining in him anymore to save her. Leonhardt tried to get Victoria to go off with him to somewhere safer since this place was going to self-destruct soon, but Victoria simply laughed and said that everything was going to end, and by then... she would finally be saved. (It was at this time that I realised that Victoria wanted to end her life and sees her life ending as being “saved”.)
As Leonhardt grabbed Victoria’s hand and prepared to run off, without warning, she stabbed the dagger she had been hiding into his back.
But Leonhardt did not show any signs of pain, and instead smiled peacefully. He told Victoria that he had always respected Queen Victoria and apologised for being disrespectful to her, by punching her in the stomach to knock her out. Though he was still bleeding badly from his wound, he carried Victoria in his arms and told Cardia and Fran that he was going to bring the Queen to a safe place, and asked them to take care of the rest of the matter.
Fran looked over to Cardia, smiling as he told her that now all that’s left was to save her.
Scene changes to Victoria’s point of view. While she was unconscious, she dreamt of her past. Victoria used to be a really gentle and kind person when she was young and tried to advise countless times to her father, the king, to end the war, but, that instead made her dad felt displeased about her. She had also gone to one of the colonies and had seen how the locals had hated her as they were being treated as slaves by the royalty, and decided that she shall steer this country herself before it gets destroyed by other countries due to all these hatred and anger.
As Victoria worked towards her goal and gained more and more political power, even her father had started to see her as a threat and planned to have her assassinated. Thus, Victoria decided to counter-attack, by poisoning her father to kill him, then overtaking his throne and taking care of whatever mess he had left behind. Soon, Victoria found her hands were stained with more and more blood, and eventually, she even stopped shedding tears for any sacrifices she had made.
Guilty of all the sins she had committed as the Queen, Victoria realised that finally, everything would come to an end, and she would be relieved of her burden as the Queen...
But, when Victoria opened her eyes, she saw that she’s being carried by Leonhardt as he walked down the corridor. She remembered that Leonhardt had saved her when she was almost been assassinated. He had always been so loyal to her, even now when she had stabbed him. She mummered out the plan had failed, and everything she had prepared had all gone to waste. Leonhardt replied that he was prepared to accept any punishment that would be put on him and that he would never betray her.
Victoria noticed that Leonhardt’s blood was dripping down and leaving a trail as he walked, and began to worry whether he was going to die. But Leonhardt simply smiled and answered that he would never die and leave her alone. Victoria ordered Leonhardt to kill her if Cardia does not become a true monster, as part of the responsibility of her failed plan. But, Leonhardt refused, and that made Victoria to furiously beg him to save her by killing her so that she could be free of her duties.
(I can’t help but shed tears at this part actually since Victoria’s story made me felt that she had felt so tired of her burden and so guilty that she really didn’t want to live anymore.)
Leonhardt was stern as he told Victoria that he needed her to stay alive as Britain still needs her to lead them, and praised that without her leadership and strength, Britain would have been gone a long time ago. He felt that death is not the way for her to take responsibility, and thus he wanted her to continue to live so that she could continue to save Britain. Leonhardt had remembered how the Queen had been so generous with him to help him and his sister, and even if Victoria said that she was just doing that to appeal to the public, to get the people to be on her side, for Leonhardt, it doesn’t change the fact that she had helped him and his family. He revealed that he had noticed her closely, and knew that she was saddened whenever sacrifices to be made, and even now when Victoria had blood on her hands, she was even willing to face her crimes head-on. Claiming loyalty for Queen Victoria, Leonhardt smiled and told her that together, they could endure the pain, even willing to accompany her to hell.
Seeing that Leonhardt refused to kill her, Victoria replied that he was the cruellest person she had ever seen, yet he was also the kindest person too and shed the very first tear she had shed ever since she had killed her father.
Back to Cardia’s point of view, she realised that the room was soon to be destroyed, and she would not be herself anymore, but Fran was calmed as he explained to her that he was going to extract the Zicterium and introduce it into her body to save her, though the extraction might take some time. There are only less than five minutes for Cardia before she got turned into a monster, but it would require around seven minutes for Fran to fully extract the Zicterium out.
Though Fran was being all assuring, Cardia noticed that he was avoiding to answer the very doubt she had in her mind - what would happen to Fran during this moment, when he was being so close to Cardia when she was about to transform into a monster. She asked Fran that, and he smiled at her gently, telling her not to worry since he would take care of it, which was still not answering to Cardia’s question.
Fran asked Cardia whether she still remembered of the time when they were caught up in the poison gas of Zicterium. He guessed that perhaps her Horologium had stopped transforming for a while, which means that, rather than less than five minutes as shown by the clock, they might have more time than expected.
Cardia still felt worried after listening to Fran’s words, she didn’t want him to risk his life but before she could do anything, she lost control of her body and collapsed onto the floor. She knew that she can’t even choose her own death now, and felt sorry that she would end up being the cause of Fran’s death as well. But Fran told her to trust him and started extracting the poison in liquid form to be injected into her body. Cardia started saying her goodbyes, telling Fran how happy she was to have met and loved him, begging Fran to kill her at this moment before it becomes too late.
(Of course, Fran refused to give up T/////T)
Cardia thought about how someone she had loved was going to die again because of her, as her Horologium started heating up through her entire body, with even light emitting from her chest. Poison started oozing out from her body, as she could feel that her body was about to change into something else...
(I never thought an option screen would pop up at this moment. Though I failed the last time I choose to believe in Fran, let’s choose to believe him one last time!!!)
Knowing that she would definitely end up killing that one person she loved if she transformed into a monster, Cardia noticed herself reaching out for the dagger, and stopped herself with her other hand from taking it. She remembered what Fran had told her to keep believing in him, and vowed to herself that she would not give up.
Hazily, she saw Fran rushing towards her with the Zicterium in liquid form, asking her to drink it. But she no longer has any control over her body, and even as Fran poured the liquid into her mouth, it simply spilt away onto her chin. Thus, at such an emergency moment...
(I know this may be considered an overused story trope, I love it~ <3)
Cardia could feel Fran’s lips against hers, as the sweet liquid flew down her throat. Since Zicterium was such a dangerous matter, she doesn’t feel that it would be safe for Fran to feed her Zicterium by mouth. But, Fran smiled and hugged her warmly, as Cardia thought about all her adventures that she had been with Fran ever since they had met.
(I’ll just leave the rest of Cardia’s thought here since I like them~ Kind of embarrassing to type them myself anyway >////<)
When Cardia regained her consciousness, she can’t help but feel that Fran was being reckless doing all these for her. Fran gave a weak smile and explained to her that the effects of Zicterium changed drastically when it was being changed from liquid to gaseous form to be used as a weapon. Even though Zicterium might not be harmless in liquid form, it’s not instantly fatal, and thus he was able to make use of it to cure Cardia.
(Awww Fran~)
Time fast forward to the near future.
Cardia thought back to how the two of them had met up with the rest of the group soon after and managed to make out of the facility alive before it exploded. Overwhelmed with exhaustion, they both fell into a deep sleep.
Just then, Fran came to find her at her room to bid her good morning. The group had a farewell party the night before, as the rest of the group began to part their ways as they continued on to achieve their respective goals. Fran teased her that Cardia was so lonely knowing that everyone was leaving at the farewell party yesterday that she held onto Fran and asked him to stay with her >/////<
It seems like the rest of the group had already left the mansion by the time Cardia had wake up, which disappointed her since she had wanted to send them off. Lupin and Impey had set off together on their original goal of finding something, while Van had gone off with Dora-chan, as Van had said that he wanted to help the vampires as a part of atoning for his past. Saint, the owner of the mansion, told Fran and Cardia that he had some business that he had to take care of and force them to take ownership of the mansion before leaving.
Cardia felt bad that she ended up being the one falling asleep soundly when she was the one who had asked Fran to accompany her. Fran doesn’t mind though, since he got to look at Cardia while she slept, complimenting her that she’s adorable to the point that he could not take his eyes off her. (Oh~ When did Fran gets so good at such flirting already? O////O) Apparently, such a comment was too much for Cardia, that she got too embarrassed and hid behind the sheets.
(Fran was indeed not holding back his praises when he found Cardia really adorable ^/////^)
Suddenly, Fran blushed and admitted that he’s really happy that Cardia had wanted him to stay with her since he enjoyed being relied on by the girl he loves and even called her a princess.
(These blushing expressions are adorable~~! Fran is the adorable one instead to me >/////<)
He started fidgetting and wondered whether he should continue on saying what he had in mind. After debating silently, he seriously asked Cardia whether they should start sleeping in the same bed now that they’re staying together. (Is it me or it suddenly just went onto fast mode for their relationship when they’ve just been a couple recently? That was fast, Fran OWO)
(I have to say you’re being abit too honest there XDDD)
(But seriously... how can you say “No” to such a cute face here >/////<)
(Yep, no way I could ever reject Fran after this >/////<)
Cardia nodded silently but then thought that she might end up hurting Fran since she wasn’t sure whether her Horologium would continue to be in a stable condition. She worried that her poisonous body won’t change, and there would be no happy ending for her in the future. Fran smiled and assured her that he had promised her since the first time they had met that he would definitely cure her of her poison no matter. He revealed that he had gotten some Zicterium samples and asked Cardia to drink it, promising that drinking it would make both of them happy. After Cardia drank it though, Fran decided to give it a try...
by kissing Cardia on the lips~
Cardia panicked as she tried to push Fran away, but he forcefully held her down with his hands. She had thought that she might end up melting Fran’s face, but thank goodness there was no smell of burning flesh nor his skin melting on her. Surprised, she looked up at Fran and asked him what was going on when the kiss had ended.
Fran answered that the liquid he had just given her to drink was a medicine that could suppress her poison, though she would need to take it regularly. Now that her poison was suppressed, she could now freely touch Fran and kiss him. This was like a miracle for Cardia, which Fran said all of this was possible because both of them had fought hard for what they wanted and didn’t give up. It felt like their bright future was just about to start now and he promised that he would make Cardia happy.
And that’s the end of Fran’s route in Code Realize~! I took such a long time in finishing this route so thank you all for accompanying in reading my playthrough~ There’s still an extra story I’ve unlocked after finishing his route, so I’ll be sharing that tomorrow in the new year~!

Thank you for always writing superb headcanons, hope you two mods are doing alright :D I would like to ask how would the gang react if they meet the Collar X Malice gang? Lile Kei -Van, Mineo - Impey, Takeru - Fran, Aiji - Lupin and Saint G - Shiraishi? Shiraishi's route hurt like hell and I'm still not over him. If you havent played CXM its okay just discard this one
Mod Cheshire here! I just recently finished CxM so you’re in luck! Shiraishi’s route and short story left the biggest hole in my heart, you have absolutely no idea. To be quite honest, no other otome love interest has ever affected me in such a way :D so Shiraishi is a special case. Anyway! Enough of my rambling. I’m going to call this one Code: Realize meets Collar x Malice. As always, let us know if you want anything more!
~Cheshire
Note: This headcanon is going to have some HEAVY spoilers for Collar x Malice, so if you have yet to play the game or aren’t finished yet, I strongly recommend not reading this. Just to be safe, I’ll be putting everything underneath the cut.
Scenario: After a very long and complicated series of events (involving either magic or Fran’s alchemy), the Code: Realize boys end up in Shinjuku, during the X-Day investigations. Cardia and Ichika, both bonding over their poisonous circumstances, decide to take a walk around the town, leaving the boys at the detective agency to chat.
Arsene Lupin and Aiji Yanagi: It’s not that Lupin hates the police, they just rub him the wrong way. Aiji is no exception. Their conversation on the rooftop begins innocently enough (”What’s your name? How old are you? Why do you dress like that? Isn’t smoking bad for your health?”) but as soon as the conversation turns to profession, tensions rise. Aiji, being a former cop, finds it hard to believe that Lupin’s thievery is 100% innocent. When he finds out that Lupin’s first meeting with Cardia was basically a kidnapping, he could barely restrain his shock that 1. Cardia was still friends with him after all that and 2. that Lupin actually got away with it. Nonetheless, the two of them manage to bond over their mutual desire to protect those around them by any means necessary, even if they have to resort to violence.
Abraham Van Helsing and Kei Okazaki: The moment Okazaki lays eyes on Van, he knows that Van is The One™. Even though Van is a knight and more than capable of taking care of himself, Okazaki absolutely insists on protecting him. Van is, obviously, annoyed by Okazaki’s decision, but decides that it would be even MORE annoying trying to convince Okazaki to go away. They end up becoming rather close, despite being polar opposites. They manage to bond over their similar traumatic experiences and, shockingly, Van’s cooking. Okazaki’s taste buds must already be broken at this point in time anyway, so he always finds something tasty about Van’s cooking.
Impey Barbicane and Mineo Enomoto: The OTP. The beautiful, heart-warming bromance that blossoms between these two is unimaginable. They just truly understand one another, y’know? They’re hopeless romantics and not extremely bright (when compared to their peers). Plus, Impey’s allergic to wearing two sleeves and Mineo’s allergic to seeing out of both eyes, so they have that to bond over. Mineo also completely falls in love with Impey’s cooking, rating it even higher than Aiji or Ichika’s cooking. In all seriousness guys, these two are absolutely the same person, just in different eras. Like. Come on. THE DESIGN IS THE SAME WHAT EVEN IS THIS.
Victor Frankenstein and Takeru Sasazuka: Their interactions are…interesting, to say the least. They’re polar opposites on every level, so Fran’s attempts at making conversation only invoke a pompous scoff from Takeru, who’s spent the whole time typing away at his computer. On the off chances that they DO actually speak, Takeru only refers to Fran as a dog and orders him around, much to Fran’s dismay. Takeru’s diet and complete lack of exercise worries Fran greatly, but because Takeru isn’t exactly the best at talking, Fran has to go to Aiji and Ichika to have any hope of getting through to Takeru. All in all, they don’t get along.
Saint-Germain and Kageyuki Shiraishi: Shiraishi is absolutely fascinated by Saint-G’s complete lack of self-preservation. Shiraishi has never met someone, with the exception of Okazaki, who has treated life and safety so flippantly before. This becomes especially obvious after Saint-G recounts his several near-death experiences as if they were fond memories of the Good Old Days. After having extensive and deep conversations with each other, Shiraishi eventually reveals his affiliation with Adonis and Saint-G reveals his part in Idea. This causes their bond to deepen exponentially and, after mulling it over, Shiraishi decides to turn all of Adonis in and officially ends the X-Day incidents before anything worse happens. The police love him for this, and he is absolved of all his crimes and allowed to be happy because he deserves it!

2/ Remnants of Time
Chapter 1 | ... | Chapter 3
Masterlist
Word Count: 3.934 Song Choice: Sleeping At Last - Sorrow; Woodkid - Run Boy Run Special a/n: two songs. the first is for the flight part, the second for the train station scene. please check out the Spotify Link, I still have no idea if the link works for you guys.
When everything had stayed calm around them and the second hour of the flight had passed, Sam nudged Steve’ side. “You really are as reckless as Bucky said. Man.” Steve shot him a confused glance from the side. He actually looked a little tired right now, although he shouldn’t be. “Y’know, training for hours and not even taking water along. Gotta stay hydrated, man.” Sam grinned a wonderful white grin and Steve knew that this guy had way too much fun right now, when a water bottle flew right at him from the back. Grateful, Steve took a few gulps. “Bucky didn’t say I was reckless”, he replied. “Yeah he did, but I won’t turn around so you can ask him.”
You can’t ask him. Steve remembered the moment that became reality. When ice was poured over the man he wanted to see alive and breathing. These days Bucky just stood there, in the tube with only one arm and pretended he was dead. How many times Steve had stood in the same room, looking at Bucky, silence between two men who’d never been silent when together. A sigh escaped him. “I hope everything will go as planned.”
Sam couldn’t turn around to his friend, couldn’t look him in the eyes just then, maybe for the first time ever, because all the pain on Steve’s face was too much to take. Also, it caused him to feel like he was intruding, like this was a part of Steve too personal to be shared with anyone. Sam concentrated on the night beyond the windows of the cockpit, hands calm on the control board. “You saw Wanda’s face”, he started slowly, willing to encourage the man next to him, who just wasn’t supposed to be this breakable, this fragile. How could fate be so cruel? To someone who didn’t deserve it in the slightest? “She almost glowed when you told her to watch Bucky. She won’t let anything happen.” Sam didn’t know what to say when Steve stayed silent. This man inspired people by just being around, but right now, he didn’t do anything, let alone inspire Sam. “Sleep a little, I mean it.” Back came a grunt. But the blonde giant did stand up, obliging a piece of advice by a true friend very much crucial to the success of this mission. Nat would scold him for not listening to Sam, he could feel it. So Steve strapped himself onto one of those wide benches in the back of their stolen Quinjet, praying for peaceful rest. Sam did too, pray for him to have peace when his eyes closed. He knew he couldn’t handle nightmare-Steve if his life depended on it.
Because Sam, not just a therapist to war veterans with PTSD, but also a human being with a healthy sense of empathy and reason, had discovered what a proficient liar Steve actually was. All these evenings where they had been joking around, when Nat had proclaimed Steve the worst liar she’d ever met, they had completely forgotten - or maybe chosen to ignore - the depth of Captain Steve Roger’s sense of responsibility and selflessness. He’d lied to them all along, undetected and repeatedly and even soldiers and spies were blind, or longed too much for a lie that they’d decided to trust his every word.
The best liars are never those who make you believe the lie. The best liars are those who make you want to believe the lie. Sam inhaled sharply when these thoughts took him captive. Never before did he accept them, as though he could be punished for this knowledge, but he realized that Steve just didn’t let anyone see him. Oh, and how he had learned to defend himself with a shield. Only the people closest to him ever caught a glimpse of the horrors beneath the perfect, peak-of-human-performance-façade. And these nights in Wakanda, Sam had met the real Steve and realized that it scared him more than anything. After a few long time, however, he noticed a distinct pattern in Steve’s nightmares.
At first, the raw screams from behind walls sounded disassembled, cracking with every new intake of breath, pained by fear. Then names followed, some loud and urgent, some a mumbled bunch of syllables. Sam had heard Peggy before, he knew Bucky, he knew his own name and he knew Natasha. It hurt to hear those names in the middle of the night, sounding so broken and panicky. Sam’s heart shuddered. Was it more terrifying, in the wild minutes Steve didn’t stop screaming and thrashing his room, when Sam couldn’t move, fear nagging on his soul like he was a child again and the monster was just next door? Or was it in the eerie silence that followed right after, or maybe even the mornings afterward, when he caught a glimpse of Steve’s room, the room of a disciplined military operative, with neatly folded blankets, clothes and no traces of the forces unleashed by the super soldier in his midnightly wrath? Or probably when Steve smiled kindly at Wanda, encouraging her before school started, when he high-fived Scott after a good joke, when his blue eyes rested on Sam so peacefully, hiding all the pain that he endured as his own burden, that no one was ever to carry other than himself. Maybe Bucky would carry them, Sam thought, hoping for scenarios unlikely to happen during his lifetime, given how slowly the doctors progressed on his case. No matter how frozen he was right now, he was crucial to Steve’s sanity. These boys knew each other to a degree that he’d seldom witnessed before, they trusted each other too deeply to ever forget the other, brainwashing or no. Sam cursed silently. They couldn’t make any mistakes. Too much depended on this mission and they hadn’t even prepared for it. His mind wandered back to his first mission with them, back in DC. He hadn’t been prepared back then. Steve and Natasha had needed his help and hadn’t bothered to ask for it. Now, that fight was over and in the past and Steve still needed help.
His phone vibrated softly in the jacket he’d thrown over before rushing through and out of Wakanda’s most expensive hallways. As Sam pulled it out, a text message glowed at him. Annoyed, he scoffed at his screen that was way too bright in the dark. The message read Park the bird in Lyon, meet me at the Gare du Nord in Paris around noon. :). Shit, he thought after a few seconds. There was no way this message would stay hidden from intelligence agencies. We are fugitives again. On the run. He prayed Natasha had thought this through. Steve slept without distress this time and Sam made it to Lyon in less time than he had thought realistic.
Crowded. The train station in Paris was crowded and that was the only description Sam could find for this somewhat chaotic place. Of course, he’d been to New York and San Fran before, but this was a different way of crowdedness. If any more people enter the platforms, he thought, anyone standing too close will fall down onto the rails like lemmings huddled too close to the edge of an iceberg. Sam wondered if anything special was going on in Paris right now, but the city was the center of the country and probably always terribly busy. Additionally, this was a Friday. All the commuters drove home from work right now.
The train was still moving, slow and smoothly hitting the brakes. Sam checked his phone quietly, pulled it out of his jacket once to see if Natasha sent him another text with instructions, because he certainly didn’t want to spend hours in this place, and pulled it out a second time to see how late it was. Almost 12:30. Come on, Natasha. Where are we supposed to meet you? Give me something. Steve sat opposite from him, assessing the area with a serious expression on his face that made his jaw look hard and more square than usual. “Cameras everywhere. Still got the cap?” Sam pulled it up. Steve wore a hoodie and pulled the hood over his head, although Sam doubted that whoever was looking for them would fail to recognize the big blonde. Not after The Battle of New York, the Disaster of DC, Sokovia’s Shaking and his Berlin Bucky Jailbreak.
London
A dozen agents rushed into an office plastered with screens, computers and desks. “Alright, ladies. This is the CIA, not the kindergarten. We got intel claiming Captain America and The Falcon to be on the way to a rendezvous with The Black Widow. Pull up camera footage from Paris, Gare du Nord. Come on, people, find me both Rogers and Wilson. Run protocols, give me phones, credit cards, travel records, anything. Last week was a disaster and I will not have it repeated.” “Instructions for the local asset?” “Give order to shoot on sight. For both. If they want revenge, this is the price they’ll pay.” Trained fingers typed in codes and directives, streams of people appeared on the office’s screens and recognition programs ran to add identities to the many moving faces in the crowd. “We located the Falcon’s phone”, an agent threw in the room, “they are on a train, just entered the station.” “Tap it.”
The TGV train came to a halt and people exited, fusioning with the masses outside the automatic doors. People pushed from behind and were so close Steve was almost uncomfortable, doubting the big hoodie to conceal his identity to a sufficient degree. “Don’t look up”, Steve warned, “and take care of your backpack. More thieves here than at JFK.” After a few seconds, a beeping sounded behind them, a female voice blared through the speakers placed high on green metal pillars and signs up above, announcing the departure of their train. A phone left behind on an empty seat glinted in the sporadic beams of sun breaking through clouds and the glass ceiling at Paris central station. Sam sighed. It had taken him quite some time to befriend with the plan to leave his phone behind as diversion. “Bye, Candy Crush Level 153”, he whispered. Just when he wanted to divert his eyes, something bright flashed on the display of the phone, just for a second. A text message. Sam’s heart skipped a beat. He prayed the text wasn’t from Nat, saying that they needed to meet somewhere else. Maybe it was just an app notification, he tried to reassure himself. Slowly, he turned towards the soldier a whole head taller than him, than almost everyone, who hadn’t noticed his sudden unease.
The two men hadn’t moved far from the rails yet, still awaiting Natasha’s arrival. Their concentration was on peak right now, their eyes whirred around to capture every nuance of their surroundings, to notice every hint of danger. The upper level was much calmer, with fewer people scurrying around than downstairs. Steve noticed a homeless person snatching stuff out of people’s pockets, wallets and keys and loose money, but kept his focus on the cameras and skimmed the rumbling crowds for men in tactical gear, for men in dark suits and for men with suspicious earpieces. Public places were playgrounds for intelligence agencies and he was, albeit not an easy target, way too far up on their priority lists, thanks to the Sokovia Accords. A criminal. And he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
Right now, the only objects surrounding them were a ticket automat, a newspaper booth with familiar faces greeting them, one even lined with a distinctive dark goatee. A line of people stood right in front of it though, all of them unaware that they shielded Steve, who had for a long time been the shield of a whole nation, and his companion, from silent observers. But it was no coincidence, either, since Steve had observed the rotating cameras on the ceilings. The hardest task today was probably going to be avoiding all of them. Suddenly, something vibrated in the pocket of his hoodie and he almost scolded himself for not noticing the phone in there. He had left his' in Wakanda on purpose. That meant that they, the CIA, Interpol, P.R.I.D.E., whoever, had either found them. Or someone worse. Sam shot him a somber look when he too examined the device in the blonde’s big hand. “Who gave you that?”, he whispered and Steve shrugged. This was a brand-new phone, prepaid. Slowly, he answered the call, but waited.
“Sir, subjects are exiting the station, based on their phone’s location.” “What? I don’t understand. Location provided was the station…?”, their bosses’ tone was impatient. He’d done this for over twenty years. He knew his team was losing time. Phones rung in the office, agents forwarding directives. “We don’t know, Sir. It may be a diversion.” A different agent with headphones perked up. “Affirmed visual on two subjects standing near the ticket machines, matching descriptions.” “Follow them, Michaels. Pull it up to the big screen. I wanna see it. Johnson, activate parameters for the asset. They should enter his target area soon. And get me an audio feed. Put it on the 1.” The camera stream appeared on the main screen, right where the CIA supervisor stood, headphones held to his ear. He eyed the glowing wall with the live feed. One of the targets, Steve Rogers, pulled a phone out of his navy blue hoodie jacket. “Who is calling them? Why don’t we have their conversation yet?” “It’s a third phone, doesn’t belong to them.” “Where did he get another phone? Tap it!”
Natasha’s voice greeted Steve’s ear and he almost let out a sigh of relief. This was in every way better than the CIA or anyone else who planned on chasing and detaining them. Steve could hear that she was moving too, with car noises in the background before feet hit stairs in a fast and steady rhythm, the noise merging into one composed of human mumbling. “Get going, boys, head towards the pastry store”, she directed. “You really need to stop calling like that.” Steve pulled Sam with him on her command, behind the ticket machine, then around a pillar, escaping a camera that had just moved towards them. So they do know we’re here and they’re looking. Before them was a big area full of passengers and tourists, that Steve knew he could cross in roughly thirty strides. That would be exactly the time frame they had - else the camera would catch them. His eyes fell on Sam. Would he make it in time? “Don’t look at me, I’m right behind you.” Natasha was still on the line. “3…2…1”, she counted and Steve moved, quickly but not overly rushed. Running would be suspicious. Something silver glinted in the corner of his eye but disappeared when he turned his head. A second later, it was there again, a short flash. “There is someone with a special camera, on the upper level to your left”, Natasha provided and her fist hit something that grunted, probably a man. “Where are you?”, Steve asked when Sam slipped into the spot behind him. “You don’t wanna know. Watch the guy in the green jacket behind the soda machine”, she added, “pretend to look at the pastries to your right. The shop’s camera is broken.” “What a coincidence”, Steve mumbled.
People actually didn’t seem to recognize them, which was good. On the other hand, they also didn’t notice the danger they were about to face, if the worst case scenario ensued. Suddenly, Steve spotted a few men standing together in front of the ticket machine, the exact spot they had stood in a minute ago, one of them a hand on an earpiece, speaking into it. Crap. They were here. “We gotta hurry, Sam”, he motioned over there and pulled him closer towards the soft and sugary pastries on display. “You don’t say. Check out that guy up there.” Steve’s eyes made out a tall man clad in a fancy black business suit, hands gripping the metal railing at the edge of the level while his lips moved to no one in particular. But he stood on the other side of the hall and from his point, he would only see Steve’s back at most. Good enough for now. All of the sudden, a sharp whistle made Steve’s ear sting. Fire burst inside his head when Sam pulled him down and the store employees shrieked in shock. The shot had been soundless, but imperfect. They wanted Captain America’s head. “We need to run, just a few meters, come on!”, a near-panicked Sam pulled him forward with wide eyes.
“Sir, we lost visual on targets.” The CIA task force chief cursed, ran a hand through his short hair, but forced his eyes on the screens that lit up the entire office. “They can’t disappear. It’s a train station. We’re controlling the exits. Find them again. Get the team in there.” “The entire team?” “Yes.” “Sir, Mrs. Henderson suggests-” “I don’t care what Janet says, Michaels. Get it done. Now.”
Steve and Sam had vanished by slipping past the stores to the right, taking advantage of a very narrow gap between the shop’s walls. The super soldier raised a shaky hand towards his ear and thick red blood smeared over all his fingers. Sam shuddered at the sight before him, the rugged, bloody ear now a stark contrast to the light blonde hair. Torn off flesh and blank cartilage. Gross, he thought. No way I’ll forget that view. “Sniper”, Steve hissed into the phone and only received a grunt. Quickly, Sam checked their surroundings. No one would hit them in here. The blonde pulled his hoodie up again. His heart was still beating world-record-fast. A sniper. This was more than just the CIA chasing criminals. Did Natasha know what was going on before getting them into this? The warm blood dripped onto his neck, some even running down his back. “Are you alright”, Sam wanted to know and Steve, pressed into the wall, clenched his teeth. He’d be, later. Now this just hurt. He wondered how much of his ear had been torn off. “Sure”, he growled. “Let’s get out of here.”
“A hit, Sir.” “Good. Get them.”
On the other side of the shops, a stream of people walked as if nothing had happened. Just when Sam wanted to step out and move with the masses, Steve pulled him back. He’d spotted three armed task force assets with the same idea. “Quick, Sam, get up“, he ordered and they both pulled themselves up onto the stores roofs, that didn’t meet the ceiling. They lied down on their bellies, watching how the three men entered the gap, exactly where they’d stood seconds ago. When they crouched down to examine Steve’s blood on the ground, he grabbed Sam’s backpack and flung it over the edge, hitting someone’s head. The backpack was heavy. That guy didn’t stand up again. Next, Steve jumped down, ignoring how everything was spinning around him. He grabbed one guard by the collar and hit him against the wall. The other one held his gun out, Steve disarmed him immediately. Next, he buried his foot into the agent’s stomach. The stumbling man landed a fist in Steve’s face though. But he wasn’t prepared for the following rain of punches knocking him out. Steve pulled himself up to the roof again, returning the backpack and motioning for the nearby platform that was the upper level. “Jump”, he ordered and everything spun again. They both jumped, ripping the skin on their fingers when holding onto the rusty iron baluster. They had just pulled themselves up when a grenade flew at them. Steve pulled a vending machine out of the wall and over the explosive. After a loud boom, M&M’s flew through the station, people screamed and Natasha asked if they were alright. Part of the level’s floor collapsed, almost pulling a bleeding Sam with it, downwards. But they rushed further out of reach from the sniper and his friends, through store’s backdoors and more streams of people. Steve was glad no one noticed the red soaking his jacket. Most people just panicked.
“Camera! Tie your shoes, right now!”, Natasha urged and this time, Steve pulled them both down, his head erupting hotly in protest, which he ignored. “All clear, now move to your right. Hurry up, too.” They moved, always following her instructions, always checking for potential danger. Steve had entered a state of golden haze, where every movement around him seemed slower than usual. He wasn’t sure if he’d just lost too much blood or if that was adrenaline. He didn’t even feel the fiery pain in his ear anymore, all that was left was nausea. “Maintenance door ahead”, Natasha announced and a loud bang clanged not only through the speakers but also on the metal of said door. Steve quickly joined Natasha, who kicked three men’s asses in the narrow hallway behind. Even with impaired balance, he still managed to fold these goons together like cardboard. Sam took care of guarding the door.
“Listen, we’ll get out of here really quick, I have a car parked nearby, but you can’t be seen with me.” “Nat, what’s going on?”, Steve inquired with limited curiosity. He didn’t want to know, he needed to know. Whoever was coming after them, this was something bigger than he had assumed. “We’ll talk later. Use the exit next door. Wait for me at the bus stop and check the phone.” With that, she left, her step a little less quick and graceful than Steve remembered. She must’ve taken out quite a couple of men, taken not just a few hits.
A few minutes later, the two men stood at the bus stop she’d pointed out, their patience fading with every second. Again, the phone rang and Steve answered. “What now”, Sam asked, eyeing the streets. No Natasha. “Tell her to hurry.” He noticed a few men pushing through the main entrance of the station, at the other side of the street, who seemed very intent on finding someone - them. “Move closer to the guy in the blue jacket next to you, make it look like you’re talking. Offer him some bubble gum from your pocket.” At this point, Steve was slowly growing tired, but he pushed it away. He repeated Nat’s instructions to Sam. “But they can see us”, Sam protested. “Perfect”, she said. “They’ll come for you when the bus stops. I’m right behind.”
She was right. The bus stop turned into chaos as soon as the bus stopped. The men from the entrance rushed over and injected the guy who’d taken the bubble gum with syringes. His legs buckled and they dragged him out of the bus violently before lifting him into a van. Steve and Sam had already disappeared in Natasha’s car and stayed down when she pulled ahead of the bus, hoping to maintain her cover. Nobody saw them though, so they drove off in an Audi that probably didn’t belong to her.
“We lost them, Sir.” “Don’t you dare get your asses out of here before you have them; I expect their exact locations by tomorrow morning!” The team was dismissed for a quick power-break, albeit not without a distinctive grumble of deep annoyance. Only one agent was held back under the strict gaze of his superior. The first quickly closed the door and turned the room’s communication systems off. “Any updates on Project Limestone? Tell me you have good news, Adam.” “Yes, I do. The asset has reached the assigned destination. Plus, our associate requests a meeting, Colin.” Both men stayed quiet for a moment. Failure meant exposition. And that would be the end of them all. This had been planned for too long to fail now. Meeting here was impossible. “Well, invite him to the upcoming security event in Amsterdam. It shouldn’t be too hard to pull up a cover for him. No one will suspect anything, not after Wakanda opened up with the Accords.” “On it, Sir.”

City Releases Clean Energy Vision Action Plan
To continue its commitment to green the city, the Office of Sustainability released more plans last week.
The Clean Energy Vision Action Plan drills further into the Powering Our Future Plan to identify actions the city can push by 2020 (that’s T-1.5 years from now) to move quickly to cut our carbon footprint.
The Clean Energy Vision Action Plan is broken down into 6 key areas, which are:
Implementing the Municipal Energy Master Plan – this is the city-plan to reduce emissions in city-owned buildings like City Hall, Art Museum, streetlights, and more.
Growing existing Clean Energy Programs – Think building codes, solar energy, energy benchmarking, Phila 2030 and more.
New local programs & policy to advance clean energy – Many of these may need city council approval, but opportunities include a commercial PACE (property assessments), building tune-up to implement energy-saving, and home energy use requirements when buying or selling a single-family residence.
New state legislation to advance clean energy – Once again, this requires legislation but on a state level. Opportunities include existing nuclear power plants, expansion of the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard (currently it requires 18% of electricity in PA to come from renewables, but will expire in 2021.)
Go beyond the built environment – We gotta think beyond buildings, eh? This includes how Zero Waste and Litter Plan to reduce landfill use, Transportation efficiency and Clean Fleet to encourage electric vehicles and solar charging stations.
Planning, education and advocacy – OOS wants to educate other levels of governments like updating about climate science, PGW, large institutions and state/federal advocacy.
Read the full plan on the website.
Christine Knapp of OOS attended the Global Climate Action Summit in San Fran last week to celebrate climate actions and ways the city is signing onto climate commitments.
PSSST. Want to learn more about buildings and 2030 districts? We’re launching a podcast soon, and a few of the episodes will do a deep dive into green buildings, both in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Subscribe now on iTunes, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Entertainment: Who's the rock star: Elton John or the president?
President Donald Trump does not express much affection for celebrities, which is unsurprising considering how many of them have vocally, even profanely, repudiated his policies.
But one entertainer he cannot seem to stop admiring is Elton John.
He has repeatedly praised John in his books. He plays “Tiny Dancer” to warm up his rally crowds and blasted John’s music at deafening levels on his campaign plane.
And when the president decided to pick an insulting nickname for Kim Jong Un, the missile-happy leader of North Korea, the title of John’s hit “Rocket Man” fit the bill nicely.
At a rally in Montana on Thursday, the president found yet another role for John: as a foil for one of his exaggerated boasts. Alongside comments about immigration enforcement, #MeToo and the “fake news” media, Trump bragged about his crowds, saying he had “broken Elton John records.”
“And I don’t have a musical instrument,” he added, saying the only instrument he had was his “mouth.”
It was unclear exactly what type of records he was referring to — the attendance of 6,500 fell far short of many Elton John concerts. But what was clear was that John, who has voiced discomfort with Trump’s use of his music, remains very much on the president’s mind.
Read on for a short history of Trump’s mostly-nonmutual admiration of the British megastar.
Think Like a Pop Star
Trump has name-dropped John several times in his books. In his 2004 title “Think Like a Billionaire,” Trump wrote about his love for a variety of musical legends. “There’s so much great music,” he writes. “For me, I’d have to say it’s a toss up between Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Elton John.” (“And besides that, Tony lives in one of my buildings,” he added.)
“I never get tired of listening to them and probably never will,” he wrote.
He sure didn’t.
In 2009, he wrote about John again in “Think Like a Champion,” as an example of how to use one’s own talent. He brooded on the potential that would be wasted if “Elton John was happy to just sing for himself in a garage somewhere.”
“There’s nothing wrong with bringing your talents to the surface,” he added. “Having an ego and acknowledging it is a healthy choice.”
Part of Trump’s attraction to John stems from his pure admiration of the singer’s success, said Michael D’Antonio, a biographer of the president.
Trump was not the type of star-struck fan who would tack an Elton John poster to the wall, D’Antonio said. Rather, he said, “it’s Elton John’s fame and his money and popularity, and his effect on culture, that Trump would admire.”
Clashing Messages
The president has made comments about John on a more personal level.
When John entered a civil partnership with his then-boyfriend, David Furnish, in 2005, Trump rushed to congratulate the pop star. “It’s a marriage that’s going to work,” Trump wrote on a blog. (The couple were not legally married until 2014, when same-sex marriage became legal.)
“In any event, I’m very happy for them,” he added. “If two people dig each other, they dig each other. Good luck, Elton. Good luck, David. Have a great life.”
His acceptance of their relationship, his comfort with gay acquaintances in New York and his support of AIDS charities, including John’s, made Trump unusual among Republican presidential nominees.
But during his campaign and since, gay rights supporters have been dismayed by positions his administration has taken, such as declining to recognize Pride Month, backing the Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a gay couple, and scaling back protections for transgender people, most notably in his effort to bar them from the military.
Palm Beach’s ‘Greatest Event’
Trump and John have appeared together at some charity events.
On March 18, 2006, John performed a benefit concert at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club that raised $1.4 million for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Trump tried to squeeze more than 700 people into the event, violating the capacity code for Palm Beach.
In a letter to the town, Trump complained about the limit and said he had turned away hundreds of people. He called the event “the greatest event in the history of Palm Beach.”
Master and Pupil
In 2013, Trump posted on Twitter a throwback photo of what he called “piano lessons” with John.
The Songs Play On
Bands including REM and Aerosmith have requested that Trump stop playing their songs at his rallies.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2016, John asked why Trump could not just bring in “country stars” instead of spinning his tracks.
“I don’t really want my music to be involved in anything to do with an American election campaign,” he said. “I’m British. I’ve met Donald Trump, he was very nice to me, it’s nothing personal, his political views are his own, mine are very different, I’m not a Republican in a million years.”
On Friday, John’s publicist said he could not comment on Trump’s remarks in Montana because John was “away on holiday.”
After Anthony Scaramucci, a member of Trump’s transition team, hinted that John might play at the president’s inauguration, Fran Curtis, John’s publicist, shut down the idea with an email: “Incorrect. He will NOT be performing.”
But John’s displeasure did not seem to deter Trump.
In “Let Trump Be Trump,” their behind-the-scenes book about his winning campaign, his former top aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie wrote that Trump played John’s music so loudly on the campaign plane that staff members could not hear themselves think.
And Trump has continued to play John’s songs before his crowds, record-breaking or otherwise.

Ladies and gentlemen! Let me make you an unbeatable offer!
The first three issues of Behind the Wheel together for $15 postpaid!
That’s $5 each, and I pay the shipping.
With over 180 illustrated pages of misadventures, discoveries and altercations, you can experience the harrowing and raucous trajectory of a confused yet weary Lyft driver turned disgruntled Uber driver then freewheeling taxi driver working the streets of San Francisco.
Plus, stickers!!!
To give you an idea of how others have felt after reading these zines, some testimonials:
A review of the first two issues of Behind the Wheel by V. Vale:
If our future looks like San Francisco, what with its impossibly sky-high rents, employment at Google/Twitter et al for the 1%, and the rest of the population grimly hanging on to “real” jobs or trying out the “freelancer economy” working for Uber, Lyft, TaskRabbit, Airbnb and other “disruptive” start-ups… one thing is certain: “real” workers are gonna get royally screwed. It’s almost as if the 20th-century advances of labor unions, more economic justice, widespread health care, are already becoming a dimly-remembered mirage.
Behind the Wheel #1 was reviewed favorably in Razorcake Magazine:
Clocking in at fifty-six pages of pure text, Dessaint’s accounts offer a unique perspective to these rideshares that many people forget: the driver’s point of view. I found myself worried that overly drunk riders would vomit in his car; I cringed when a couple used his backseat as their own personal makeout haven; and I clenched my teeth while reading the conversations between tech bros and conservative republicans. I commend Dessaint for his ability to navigate the waters, as these situations all seemed like torture to me. Above all, Dessaint is inarguably enamored with the idea of San Francisco: the art, the culture, the history. Yet, his experiences tell tales more of frustration with what the city has become in recent years, rather than the happiness of being in the city he’s always loved. He and his wife live in nearby Oakland, as they cannot afford to live within San Francisco due to the influx of tech workers raising rent prices. The fact that his dream city is still a bridge away is a source of bitterness for Dessaint. I’ll drive myself around, thank you. –Ashley Ravelo
Razorcake also had some nice things to say about Behind the Wheel #3:
In this third volume of Behind the Wheel, our author/driver has gone from Uber, to Lyft, to now taxi driver. This series is an inside look at what it’s like to be a Bay Area driver. We meet passengers seeking drugs, sex—and more often than not inebriated—and mistaking the poor taxi driver as a Lyft or Uber. I especially loved the guest stories from “Late Night Larry” because they involved either passengers who puked and had to pay up (a hundred dollar fee!) or wanted to have sex in his car, to which he seemed okay with either? The life of a cab driver doesn’t seem like something I’m brave enough to take on, but I certainly appreciate those who can do it, and the craziness that they encounter every day! –Tricia Ramos
A positive review of Behind the Wheel #3 appeared in Broken Pencil magazine:
Dessaint loves his city of San Fran but he’s seen it with its makeup off. He’s lost count how many times a young girl has gotten into his cab and passed out because she’d been roofied. Part of his vocation is keeping those young women safe. The taxi industry often runs hand in hand with passengers who use intoxicants, sex workers, and people coming back from good (and bad) dates. Watching Dessaint navigate these worlds while keeping his personal code makes for very entertaining reading.
As with any vocation, Dessaint recognizes that his career does not exist in a vacuum. He comes from a long line of cabbies whom he respects and admires. Every Sunday he goes to the cabbie BBQ in the junkyard by the cab station. He hears and tells stories, gathers advice and shoots the shit. Throughout the zine he splices in stories told by a veteran cabbie, Late Night Larry. They are some of the funniest tales in the zine. Dessaint writes strong narratives and convincing arguments against Uber/Lyft. As a result, I’m now done with Uber and I hope to be lucky enough to ride in Dessaint’s cab one day. (dustan j. hlady)
More praise for Behind the Wheel #1:
I read this zine in one sitting, but don’t let that fool you; this is a text heavy zine. The zine has over 50 pages of Kelly’s experiences as a Lyft driver. As Kelly tells us stories about the people he meets, you also learn more about him as a person. I like how he handles his shit. He seems like a cool and nice guy. I appreciate like how neat and clean the zine is made, as I can’t stand sloppy zines.
Even more:
In most of Kelly’s other zines he is what is changing; in Behind the Wheel, San Francisco is what is changing. Kelly moves from LA to the Bay area and quickly finds that the SF he knew has disappeared. He begins working for Lyft, a social media ride sharing business. He documents his life as a modern day cab driver and those he shuttles around the city he can’t afford to live in. Tech companies are one of the reasons SF has changed and yet Lyft is one of those companies. Kelly recognizes the inherent conflict and the potential for being part of the problem. This zine very much captures a time and place and shows changes technology and social media have created.
And more:
I love insider information! Like, anything that starts with “Confessions of. . .” I’m probably going to read. Behind the Wheel is a taxi-cab confessional of sorts, from the driver’s perspective. Kelly goes behind the pink mustache and shares the highlights and woes of being a Lyft driver. Whether he’s talking about how he learned the streets of San Francisco instead of relying on GPS, or griping about the stench of alcohol and cigarettes some passengers leave wafting through his car, Kelly’s laid-back style is engaging and readable. Best of all, he recounts passengers’ thoughts about the influx of “brogrammers” and other techy people into San Francisco. This makes Behind the Wheel a slice-of-life snapshot at the height of Tech Boom 2.0. Plus, he weaves in stories about his own life, letting us get to know our narrator better. When his soundtrack (like Bad Brains and Iggy Pop) plays in your head, it helps to beat down that dread you feel when he gets pulled over. At 54 pages, this zine is rich in detail and well-worth reading. Let Kelly give you a Lyft!
Alright, I’m done. Buy the damn zines already!
And if you don’t do the online thing, you can find them at most bookstores around the city.
