My village had our Perchtenlauf today ❤️ This is my favorite winter tradition.
This tradition predates Christianity in the Alps; it’s something that’s been passed down from our pagan ancestors. Village men dress like Perchten (these goat-like creatures) and parade around to chase away the evil spirits as winter approaches. And they use their dried branches to hit viewers which makes it all the more exciting!

like I know it's a joke post being like "computers used to scream when they connect to the internet and we should have listened" but at the same time it's like the internet is not bad it's fucking fantastic it was fucking fantastic capitalism touched it and ruined the fucking fantastic parts like I cannot tell you how fucking great the internet used to be if you weren't there but it was truly special and there are pockets sometimes that remind me of it in between all the advertising and fucking being shoveled into the pipeline of only four sites to be fed more ads. and it reminds me of the universal truth that technology is not bad. if something feels bad about technology it's because society has prioritized that use of technology which means there's a systemic problem that needs to be addressed
