Well, I'm sharing an edited version of @frankensonnet's Old Town.

First of all, I would like to state that this is Frankensonnet's work, that I have only edited it using CAW, that I have no intention of infringing on Frankensonnet's rights, and that Old Town belongs to Frankensonnet. And I would like to express my deep gratitude.

日本の家屋を建築するには非常に多くのCCが必要に��りますので過去に私が作成したLotsは外しました。なので、NoCC、建築の難しい物のみ配置してます。 町役場等の公共の区画はありません。なので、ビルダー向けだと思います。

Since a lot of CC is required to build a Japanese house, I removed the Lots I created in the past. Therefore, I only place NoCC and difficult-to-build buildings. There are no public lots for town halls etc. So I think it's geared towards builders.

ビーチはCCを取り除いた状態で配置しました。お好みで装飾して下さい。

The beach has been placed without CC. Please decorate it as you like.

今回、道路のテクスチャー、全ての樹木の植え替え、新たな土地と区画の追加及び区画のリサイズ、日本風の住所へ変更しました。

桜を多く植えました。「ソメイヨシノ」という品種になるように置きかえModを使用しています。「ソメイヨシノ」は日本の桜です。

This time, I changed the road texture, replanted all the trees, added new land and plots, resized the plots, and changed the addresses to a Japanese style.

I planted a lot of cherry trees. I used a replacement mod to make them the "Somei-Yoshino" variety. "Somei-Yoshino" is a Japanese cherry tree.

Sakura replacement mod by @honobonoticさん(@rain-coat-aaame-info) I really recommend this

★64×64の区画はありません。最大で60×60です。 ★There are no 64x64 plots. The maximum is 60x60.

★日本の車両は左側通行なので、信号や標識はそれに基づいています。(間違って設置したのではないですよｗ) ★Vehicles in Japan drive on the left side of the road, so traffic lights and signs are based on that. (They weren't installed by mistake lol)

★重くなるので電線と郵便ポストは設置していません。 ★Electric wires and post boxes were not installed because they would be too heavy.

★全ての建物を配置したセーブファイルはありますが、使用しているCCがあまりにも多く、且つ全てを追跡できないため申し訳ありませんが配布はできません。

★I have a save file with all the buildings placed, but unfortunately I cannot distribute it because there are so many CCs used and I cannot keep track of them all.

Chapter 11

She made her way towards a bench beneath an opening. It was like a window but there was no glass, but strangely enough there was no wind coming through the opening, instead she had a perfect view of the statue of Azura. She stood high on the mountains, the clouds draping over her arms and the rising sun cast a comforting golden glow over her. Nera studied Azura, utterly transfixed.

“The Goddess of Dawn and Dusk,” someone muttered behind her. They sounded old and weary.

Nera whirled around with a gasp and met the exhausted eyes of another Dunmer. He wore different robes to anyone she had seen around the college, but they had just arrived the night before.

“I’m sorry?” she finally said.

The Dunmer pointed out of the glassless window. “The Lady Azura, she watches over the land.”

“Yes, she does,” Nera mumbled, following his finger. “Although she has her back to us.”

“Perhaps an intentional move?” the Dunmer asked with a smirk. “Or perhaps she moves when no one is watching.”

Nera, feeling oddly at ease with this stranger, laughed. “In that case there would be no way to prove if she is watching.”

“Isn’t that part of the whole wonderous joy of faith?” His voice took on a more sardonic note as he sat on a bench beneath the opening, with his own back to Azura. “You must be a new apprentice?”

Just like that, her ease vanished, and Nera tensed. “Um, yes, or at least I’m hoping to be.”

Something flashed across his eyes for a moment before he sat back, crossing his arms. “And what is your name?”

Nera nearly answered but she recalled Brelyna’s attitude towards Faralda. If she wanted to pass as her sister, she needed to be more like her. Despite wanting to back off, she crossed her own arms, meeting the Dunmer’s stare.

“And who are you?”

He grinned, showing shiny teeth that reflected the blue light of a nearby light fountain. “My apologies. We are meeting before I give my introductory lecture. You may address me as Master Aren, the Archmage of this college.”

Nera swallowed. She didn’t understand the structure of the college yet, but given his attitude, she assumed he was quite important. He continued to grin widely at her until she cleared her throat.

“I see. Well, Master Aren, I’m Nera Maryon, I came with my sister.”

His eyebrows shot up. “Maryon? Hmm, I thought they only had one daughter, Brelyna?”

1. What do they say they want? (i.e., what are the desires they put out into the world and have no trouble admitting)

Rilenna- To escape and be left alone. To have nothing to do with prophecies and ancient history and being a possible reincarnation of some long-dead Hero King.

Besharat- To be a great swordswoman and warrior. To fight with honor to great renown.

Azuri- To be her own person and find her own destiny. She’s lived with the idea of ‘grand destiny’ all her life, but wants to find what exactly that means for herself.

2. What do they think they want? (i.e., what are the desires they keep hidden and only admit to their closest loved ones)

Rilenna- to make something of themselves. To be more than just a street kid with nothing to their name.  

Besharat- To be worthy of all the titles bestowed on her. Dragonborn, Harbinger, and mother, most importantly. She just wants to do right by all those who depend on her.

Azuri- To not be judged. To be allowed to just be herself,  not matter what that looks like.

3. What do they actually want? (i.e., what is something they subconsciously need, but either do not realize or cannot admit it)

Rilenna- To be loved. Gods, do they ever just want (and need) someone who actually loves and cares for them.

Besharat- To prove her parents wrong. To prove she has found where she belongs and has made something of herself.

Azuri- To know that no matter what happens, she is still worthy. That she has value beyond this ‘grand destiny’.

Disclaimer, ofc, that I play with a few GBs of CC, all packs except ITF + HELS, and that this savefile might be unstable because it’s already 21 weeks old (+some traveling). You are running this at your own risk. At the minimum I recommend Nraas ErrorTrap and Overwatch to catch errors. Also it’ll look like ass without CC.

The world is Old Town by Frankensonnet, though, for some reason, that tunnel doesn’t show up for me. I removed a lot of duplicate trees (they were clustered together) and added more colorful ones.

I added a few more lots to the world.

Contains dozens of lots mostly built by me (some are edited EA bin lots), including an apartment building, a festival lot, and 3 dive lots connected to each other. You will likely have to either bulldoze the houses or fix them manually one by one.

The graveyard lot is Simgebu Stave Church. There are gravestones of deceased NPCs on the lot.

Why is it so hard to find small worlds with nice roads?

Us smallworlders might be a minority in the community, but thankfully there are some creators who create amazing small worlds. Like @nilxis and @frankensonnet and others I have forgotten.

I’ve tried many times to play a legacy, but I always end up losing interest a couple generations in. I’ve also tried several times to do a “town building” challenge, but never made it far either. Then I saw @frankensonnet’s Jefferson world, was intrigued by the description, and thought I would try something that was a little bit of both.

So, meet the Jeffersons—Samuel and Sophia. They’re my founding family, smack in the middle of nowhere with nothing around them (in the midst of some vaguely-historical era I’d like to call the late 1800s or early 1900s). As each generation progresses, I’ll slowly build up the town, adding families and buildings in a challenge I designed for myself. At the start, they have just their home and nothing else to sustain them but their garden, their chickens, and their cow.

I made this blog mostly because I wanted to post about this legacy and keep a record for myself (and also hopefully keep me accountable for continuing to play with them). Updates will be forthcoming!

Here is my snippet for the next chapter of my story Layers of Snow and Ash

Chapter 10

Nera rubbed her eyes and sighed. She had no way to tell what time it was, but judging from how fuzzy her head felt, she knew it was late. Her new room had no windows, she was surrounded by impenetrable stone. It blocked out any of the wind and weather outside, but it was colder than her simple room back in Windhelm. Back there, she had holes in her walls and the wooden floor was so thin it felt like it was going to snap underfoot. There was no way to hide from any storms, but… Nera frowned. At least she could feel the heat rising from the living room, from the tiny fire her parents kept burning at all hours. It kept her feet warm, but here, the stone floor offered no such heat. She sat on her new bed that felt too soft with her knees pulled into her chest and a half-started letter lying on top of the various books she had been given by Master Ervine. Her room had been well equipped with plenty of sheets of pristine paper along with a whole drawer of unused quills, something she had immediately reached for.

Her writing seemed pitifully untidy, especially next to the neatly printed schedule for the week she had been given. Nera scowled at her scribbles and embarrassed tears burned their way down her face before leaving an itchy trail along her jaw. Despite the sting, she couldn’t look away from her letter. The freshly inked words ‘mother’ and ‘father’ reflected the gentle candlelight, glowing in her darkened room. She wiggled her toes, bringing some blood back into them and the fine cotton blanket felt soft against her skin. Too soft.

After the time spent marching to Winterhold, she was exhausted, but she couldn’t allow herself to sleep. Not until she figured out what she wanted to say to her parents. Not that they wanted to hear from her… but… Nera moved the inkwell to the table beside her bed, along with her quill and flopped back.

The sheets brushed her palms, and the pillow caressed her cheek, smelling innocently of soap and something else that Nera had never encountered before. It was clean and probably pleasant, but Nera cringed away from it, finding herself longing for the faint musk of the homemade soap her mother used. She missed the familiar scratch of worn linen that had been washed and used again and again every day for the last eighteen years of her life. She sat up again, rubbing her back and picked up the letter.

“Dear mother and father,” she read out, her lip curling as she went on and she hated how pathetically her voice came out, “I hope this letter finds you well. I am quite well and have arrived at the college. My room is comfortable and…” she stopped reading abruptly. She read over it again before groaning and tossing the paper aside, it fluttered away softly, landing on the floor. “What kind of shit is that?!”

1) Describe one creative WIP project you’re planning to work on over the summer.

I have a finished draft of a sci-fi, very character-centered, far-future alien invasion story that I want to hunker down and edit/second draft/etc. over the summer. It started as a NaNoWriMo project (I did not make it to 50k in that month, sadly) but I eventually finished it, then added to it, and now am gonna make it a thing.

2) Rec a book!

Heroes and Harbingers by @arkhorton. A magical school, a Chosen One, gods and creatures, and two amazing teachers!

Spectacular Silver Earthling by @marlynnofmany. A reality TV show on an alien world? What could go wrong?

Unleash the Archers. Canadian power metal! They are seriously amazing. You will be hooked! And their last two albums, Apex and Abyss, are concept albums that tell the same story as it plays out over time. Definitely check them out!

5) Share one piece of advice!

Just keep writing/drawing/making art! Everyone seems to have rules about how things 'should be' and the 'proper way is to do it like this'. Don't listen to them. Your art is your art, and you make it however you damn well want! Your voice, your style, that's you and you don't need to try to conform to someone else's idea of right or good or whatever. As the song says, shine on you crazy diamond!

ようやくCAWでの編集が完了したので、建物を配置しました。

Now that the editing in CAW is finally complete, I can place the buildings.

Noir and Dark Simsの「Tokyo Town」のCCを使用させて頂きました。

I used the CC of "Tokyo Town" by Noir and Dark Sims.

古い建物が多く残る田舎町です。

It is a rural town with many old buildings remaining.

郵便ポストもありましたが、1960年代後半の日本なので今回は使用しませんでした。

There was also a post box, but since this was Japan in the late 1960s, we didn't use it this time.

追加した土地です。日本によくある河川敷のグラウンドです。

This is the newly added land. It is a riverbed ground, which is common in Japan.

「日暮谷町」は観光を主な産業としています。

Tourism is the main industry in Higuredani Town.

今回、整地したので新しく建てました。海水浴場です。

This time, the land was leveled and the topography changed, so a new bathing beach was built.

建物が古いので、未舗装の道路に変更して1940年代でもいいかもしれません。

The building is old, so maybe we could change it to an unpaved road and make it 1940s.

空の町をシェアしたいのでFrankensonnetさんに連絡したのですが、返事がないです。(Tumblrを止めたのかもしれません。)

I contacted Frankensonnet to share the empty town, but I haven't heard back. (Maybe she quit Tumblr.)

うーん。こうなったら、新しく作るべきか・・・

What inspired me to start posting on Tumblr was my adaptation of @frankensonnet's "Old Town" into a rural town in Japan.

Until now I had been editing using the "Edit Town" feature in the game, but I decided to edit using CAW. I understand that it's best to start with the terrain, but creating the terrain is the most difficult part.

Well, I don't know when it will end…

To be honest, I've been doing more revising and outlining than writing this week. But I started a little scene based on an unexpected letter Besharat received the last time I was playing Skyrim. I pushed forward in the timeline to what is probably after the events of the main game, though, to make Braith a little older.

(In my headcanon, Besharat takes Braith a bit under her wing to teach her how to be Yokudan and channel her anger somewhere better than bullying her daughters.)

Braith came into the training yard for our lesson, her face red and puffy. Her knuckles were white around the scabbard of her father's sword but her expression was like stone. I was going to ask her what had happened but she spoke before I could. "Ansei Besharat, my father has journeyed to the Far Shores." Her voice held no emotion, though her hands tightened even more on the scabbard.  "May he be welcomed by the Ancestors," I said automatically, before adding, "Do you know what happened?"  "He went out on a job. An upstart, would-be warlord, his brothers-in-arms told me. Of the ten that went out, only four returned. They did not bring my father's body back. They only brought his sword. Ansei, may I ask something?"  "Of course. I will help however I can."  "I am honor bound to recover my father's body and armor. I formally request to undertake my Warrior's Trial. Let me prove myself and take my place among you."  "Braith…" I began.  But she cut me off. "I must do this, Ansei! If I don't, then everything I've learned from you is for nothing! I must see my father laid properly to rest, and my honor demands justice for his death. You have shown me what it means to be Yokudan, and I will do no less than our ancestors!"  "Of course. And I will accompany you. By the traditions of the Companions, an observer from the Circle joins those on their Trial. And, as Ansei, I am honor bound to accompany you as my student, even if for not much longer."  "Thank you, Ansei." Her voice wavered.

Hi! I'm starting to get into historical game play for ts3. Besides praaven do you have any worlds you recommend that would be good as a historical setting to play in?

Hi! As you mention Praaven, I assume you're looking for something medieval-ish. (Most other epochs are somewhat underrepresented anyway😶) Here are a few ideas:

Rabenstein populated / empty is a roadless medieval world, which even comes with a matching population. It does require Store- and CC-content though and names and descriptions are in German. In the world-tag of Blacky's Simszoo you can also find a number of empty and/or roadless worlds which might work well as a base if you want to build your own buildings.

An very atmospheric empty nordic world is Oleifsborg by Kennzikaige.

Cotes d' Ambonnay (xSorcier) is a large, very elaborately built world with several regions, but due to the size I'm not sure how well it works in longer gameplay-session. (see also the Forum Thread)

Another German prepopulated word, though not classically medieval is Fantopia. A world I'd love to see a story set in!

I haven't tried the worlds by Sims3Medieval for longer gameplay, but they sure are historical :)

The worlds of Frankensonnet are good bases for build-and-play saves in various epochs.
