the second day of this mission where they're to stay at this rented apartment in a town a day's drive away from the city, the setup of the apartment has already been organized and re-organized more than once. josephine had arrived the earliest, always cautiously early, and arranged the apartment to her liking. and then georgina had came in and re-organized everything to her system, raising several alarms ringing in josephine's head. safety concerns, mainly. josephine hurried to make a few adjustments, and that's when frank decided that everything needed to be filed and placed according to his system.

one would think three people who are all cautious and organized would not have let the apartment descend into this chaos, but there it is.

then they're forming alliances, georgina convincing josephine that they need to team up. after some negotiations between themselves - mostly josephine on the safety concerns and the measures dealing with those - they came to a compromise. and then frank - rarely ever a gossip - is telling josephine about all the morally questionable things georgina had been mixed up in during the last few years. and then there's this incident of georgina's attempt at hypnotizing frank, interrupted by josephine.

the actual action part of the mission hasn't even begun yet, at this point.

josephine, like most people, has heard at least some vague rumors about georgina orwell. despite that, she finds her not as terrible as those rumors said, and has a certain charm to her, if only she's not so assertive at all times. as for frank, she appreciates how methodical and mindful of details he can be, but finds the way he seems to constantly nag about georgina's faults tiresome.

georgina, on the other hand, alternates between thinking josephine overly paranoid and being somewhat endeared by the fact that josephine doesn't seem to buy into what most volunteers have said about georgina. and for someone as easily worried as josephine, that has to count for something. georgina is not a particularly soft or sentimental person, but she allows herself to find this ...... a little cute, perhaps. but like, perhaps she's thinking the word cute in a condescending matter, like she usually is. as for frank denouement, she knows he's wary of her, because he doesn't quite hide it. this sparks her interest in a different way. a challenge, maybe. she certainly does want to try to hypnotized him, if only for science.

like georgina has guessed - or rather, observed - frank is wary of her. what he hides though, is that while he doesn't quite trust her, he finds himself admiring her competence and efficiency. reluctantly admiring, that is. he has no plans of letting her know that. as for josephine, he worries about her, sometimes. the way she seems softer and therefore more easy to fallen prey to georgina orwell's .... whatever scheme she may be cooking up. if georgina were to lure josephine to bed, frank's almost certain that she would succeed.

"and if she lures you instead?" bertrand asks, on the phone.

"she won't," frank says. then adds. "and i'm not interested in her anyway."

"really?" bertrand has the audacity to sound skeptical over the phone. "so she's not your type at all?"

"my type? untrustworthy optometrists? absolutely not."

"dangerously competent people."

"............... i'm hanging up," frank says.

"sure," bertrand says. "by the way, your brothers send their regards."

"did they say anything else?"

"yes, they both like my new hairstyle."

frank hangs up.
