when i moved back to the city i went the local public school for a year, but in the months beforehand my dickhead father convinced himself that if i was living in the city i should be living with him (a situation in which i would've died badly post-haste) and part of the argument was that he wanted me to go to the (obscenely expensive) private school near where he lived, because the public school in question apparently had a nasty reputation (it didn't. i did an exceedingly boring year there). and also because it was public i guess (big talk from a man who went [REDACTED]. anyway i thought this was absurd and i was telling my oldest sister, who'd gone the local catholic school back in the day about this and she was like no yeah. they used to throw frozen peas at me. ???????
