I have a gripe about the Star Trek mugs...

Picard's teacup is a delicate, fragile little thing held by a strip of plastic and a dream. That thin glass will break if you look at it sideways. And where do they put that ridiculous tiny cup? On the Enterprise, which is always being dragged into conflict

The DS9 raktajino mugs are hefty, wide-based things that are meant to not tip over. They're called no-spill mugs. They have a foam piece on the bottom so they don't slip. They're incredibly sturdy – meant for ships and traveling! Where do they put them? At the station, which is arguably the most stable place they could be cause DS9 rarely gets knocked about.

Far as I'm concerned, Janeway's the only one doing practical space mugs correctly. Come on, a metal travel mug that's as strong as her coffee is black? Takes a beating through 70,000 light years of bridge shakes fighting off the Borg and the Hirogen and still holds a hot drink? Now that's a space mug

Dude I got mad on reddit under a thread where they were talking about why people don’t like Ky (the OP was asking to try and understand the memes). Everyone was trying to dunk on Ky, nobody was answering the question with anything but repeated memes. I got sidetracked talking about Dizzy and Ky memes…they’re deep characters I promise!! Aaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

Honest to god the worst thing that can happen to a fandom is when the memes completely overwrite the canon lore/personality of a character. They don't even know that Sol was lowkey terrified of Ky during the Crusades because of how bloodthirsty for Gear blood Ky was before meeting Dizzy and realizing that he was killing intelligent beings. Or that Ky was willing to risk everything, seriously, to protect her. Why don't more people pick on him for his teacup collection the same way people constantly bring up Sol's Sheer Heart Attack record, also

thinking about jack's first meetings. his first (on-screen) meeting with will he's immediately crossing all kinds of boundaries and the only space he gives will is whatever he thinks he needs to get the job done. his first meeting with alana is probably not his first meeting with alana, but it's noticeably different. more personable, forthright, but in a familiar way. reads like a relationship on equal ground with mutual respect. and then his first meeting with hannibal he's so polite, almost to the point of superciliousness. he's essentially making the same request he made of will, but he's actually asking instead of bullying. i feel like there could be a lot going into that, but the main things i'm taking away from it are 1) will's reputation precedes him and i don't think jack's distrust of will in s2 was new or unprecedented, 2) jack compartmentalizes everything to do with The Job (thanks to the miriam lass incident), and will was absolutely The Job to him from the beginning, and 3) will was a means to an end that he never intended to be permanent, let alone personal

Sequins and Spring (my cousin’s teacup) finally got to have a playdate today!!

We all had a little tea party and then the clowns played with some of Spring’s toys. They both showed eachother their tricks and got the hang of juggling tiny objects together, which they proudly showed us

there’s just something so nostalgic and comforting abt the pressed flowers so i’ve always enjoyed that the tribute gallery art tied them in with the characters.
