Eddie Redmayne Says 'Willkommen' to Broadway in First Production Photos from Cabaret Revival (Exclusive)
'The Good Nurse' actor is starring as the Emcee alongside Gayle Rankin as the musical's leading lady Sally Bowles
By Sabienna Bowman Published on April 15, 2024 02:30PM EDT
Eddie Redmayne is ready to put on a show in the first photos from Broadway's Cabaret revival!
In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at the famed John Kander and Fred Ebb musical's return to the Great White Way,The Good Nurse actor, 42, suits up at as Kit Kat Klub's mercurial Emcee. With his jaunty green party hat, oversized brown cravat and black gloves, Redmayne is both intriguing and imposing as the fascinating character.
In another snap of the Emcee in action, Redmayne leaps into the air as several members of the cast dance around him during the show's iconic opening number, "Willkommen."

Additional photos from the show shine the spotlight on House of the Dragon actress Gayle Rankin in the role of the vivacious nightclub singer Sally Bowles. In one compelling photo, she seems poised to take the stage with a microphone in hand as she's surrounded by ensemble members during the song, "Mein Herr."
Another picture finds Rankin in a ruffly white dress while holding a prop cigarette as she performs the song "Don’t Tell Mama."
The Cabaret revival is being directed by Rebecca Frecknall, who helmed the West End version, which also starred Redmayne. Previews began April 1 at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City, with the show set to officially open on April 21.

Cabaret has long been a success both on the stage and screen. Based on John Van Druten’s 1951 play I Am a Camera, which in turn was adapted from the 1939 novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood, Cabaret first hit Broadway in 1966. It was later turned into the 1972 film of the same name starring Oscar-winner Liza Minnelli.
The musical tells the story of Sally, an ambitious English singer who starts up a relationship with American writer Clifford Bradshaw as he observes the eccentric characters who populate the Kit Kat Klub in Berlin. Set between World War I and World War II, the growing unrest beyond the club's doors is ever-present as the artists within express themselves through song.
It features a score by Kander & Ebb made up of a string of songs that have become musical theatre mainstays, like “Willkommen,” “Don't Tell Mamma,” “Mein Herr,” “Two Ladies,” “Tomorrow Belongs to Me,” “Money,” “Maybe This Time” and, of course, “Cabaret.”

Redmayne, who also produces the Broadway revival, has long said that Cabaret “properly ignited” his love for theater, while playing the Emcee in a student production of the musical over 25 years ago.
In an October 2023 statement, he shared, "It now feels completely thrilling and a little surreal to be a part of Rebecca's truly unique vision of Masteroff, Kander, and Ebb's brilliance as it arrives on Broadway, where the piece has such a history."
In addition to Redmayne and Rankin, the rest of the principle cast is rounded out by Ato Blankson-Wood (Clifford), Steven Skybell (Herr) and Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth (Fräulein), as well as Natascia Diaz (Fraulein Kost and Fritzie); and Henry Gottfried (Ernst Ludwig).
The cast also includes, Gabi Campo (Frenchie), Ayla Ciccone-Burton (Helga), Colin Cunliffe (Hans), Loren Lester (Herman/Max), David Merino (Lulu), Julian Ramos (Bobby), MiMi Scardulla (Texas), Paige Smallwood as Rosie, and Marty Lauter (Victor) — also known as Marcia Marcia Marcia of RuPaul's Drag Race fame.
Tickets for Cabaret are on sale now.

Evie's Multiverse Trading Cards: Hogan’s Heroes Pack 1 - Germans
What do you mean "Vicky doesn't belong here"? She's 100% on the Germans' side, totally not a spy or anything, definitely not dating Newkirk, nooooo... I see nothing. Nothing!
Also, I decided to give them their more accurate German ranks - except for Hochstetter because he's addressed as "Major" even in the German dub, so... Let's say it's a nickname. In case you're interested, his real ranks would be "Sturmbannführer" and "Kriminalrat" for SS and Gestapo respectively.

I know this was probably posted years ago and I also know I'm not good at ratings, but:
Hogan
Probably not the best at soft hugs and wouldn't let you cry in his chest. But he does give great encouraging hugs. They're short and he kind of pulls you in forcefully, but they give energy and make you feel appreciated. Sort of a "you're doing great, kid". 6.5/10
Kinch
Probably doesn't hug much, but if he does, he's great at it. He'll make you feel comforted, encouraged, whatever you need. He's got you. Surprisingly good at sensing what you need too, very patient and a good listener. 9/10, but very rare
Carter
Very awkward, but it's heartfelt. To be honest, he gives bad hugs, but it's the thought that counts. Never knows where to put his arms, hands, chin... Does like being hugged and hugs in general though. Points for effort. 4/10
Newkirk
I've seen people on here say Newkirk doesn't and can't hug. You have a point. But hear me out. Yes, he isn't the one for showing vulnerability and being soft. Yes, he rarely hugs people. But if there's some catastrophe that happened and you made it out, he will hug you so tight, maybe even too tight, but you'll never feel saver in your entire life. On the rare occasion that you do soften him up enough to get him to hug you outside of a critical situation, safety is still a major point. Just knowing the fact that he lets his feelings show like that and at the same time that he will jump at anyone who even dares to try and hurt you. Also, since this is my headcanon, I decide he does actually know how to hug. Might still pickpocket you though. 7/10 if you're very lucky
LeBeau
Okay, hear me out, this man gives great hugs. I can’t give exact reasons why, but I just feel like he would. He's definitely the most open about his emotions and gives hugs the most frequently. They're also always genuine and he's very considerate, making sure you're comfortable. 8/10
Schultz
We all know he's the best hugger. I don’t need to explain. 10/10
Klink
Doesn't hug and if he's hugged, he is the most incompetent hugger ever. I'm sorry, but he just doesn't know how
Langenscheidt
Similarly to Carter, he tries but fails. Except he doesn't try as hard. He's anxious about if he's doing it right or if you could be caught. Poor boy, still a sweetheart though. 2/10
Hochstetter
Just. No. 0/10
Burkhalter
Okay, hear me out. Just because he seems to care for his family and we've never seen him when he's not annoyed or absolutely aggravated... 3/10 (Yes, I put him higher than Langenscheidt. I feel bad too...)
Hilda & Helga
Both give amazing hugs. They smell like flowers and cotton and maybe tea or coffee. Will listen, will let you cry, will make you tea and get you cookies so you feel better. 10/10
...I suddenly want to see a post rating how good at giving hugs the Hogan's Heroes characters would be...
Sadly I am not smart or concious enough to think of ratings and descriptions myself :(
all i know is that Feldwebel Schultz would give the best and tightest dad hugs, lifting you right off your feet! because he is a dad!
and Fräulein Hilda's hugs would be so soft and she probably smells like fresh laundry and spring flowers, a very pleasant experience

FORMAT: VOB (with smalls) (SD)
CAST: Keaton Whittaker (Carrie White), Alice Ripley (Margaret White), Larissa Schmitz (Sue Snell), Kody Bringman (Tommy Ross), Tessa Archer (Chris Hargensen), Andrew Brewer (Billy Nolan), Kendra Kassebaum (Lynn Gardner), Brian Lange (Mr. Stephens), Erin Herrick (Norma), Melissa Maricich (Frieda), Frederick Habreen (George), Riley Neldham (Freddy), Alexandria Henderson (Helen), Eli Wills (Stokes)
NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of one of the Final Dress Rehearsals. Top notch production and thrilling performances from Alice, Keaton, and the whole cast! This is quite a unique capture since it was the first time the blood was dropped. Too many amazing things to point out here, don't miss this one!!! A+ Well filmed with a nice mix of close-ups and full stage shots and no obstructions. Based on the revised Off-Broadway version, and presented at the Balagan Theatre. Because this was recorded at the final run-through prior to opening night, there are a few “holds” as they worked out any kinks: * After “Evening Prayers” there is a hold to change all microphone batteries, resulting in most of the song being run a second time (the sound check was removed and put as a bonus at the end of act two). * During the scene where Carrie is getting ready for the prom a microphone made a "farting" noise and Alice grabbed her butt and said "sorry" which made the cast and tech crew laugh.
Carrie: The Musical - Seattle - October 13, 2013 (Pro-Shot's master)
FORMAT: MP4 (SD)
CAST: Keaton Whittaker (Carrie White), Alice Ripley (Margaret White), Larissa Schmitz (Sue Snell), Kody Bringman (Tommy Ross), Tessa Archer (Chris Hargensen), Andrew Brewer (Billy Nolan), Kendra Kassebaum (Lynn Gardner), Brian Lange (Mr. Stephens), Erin Herrick (Norma), Melissa Maricich (Frieda), Frederick Habreen (George), Riley Neldham (Freddy), Alexandria Henderson (Helen), Eli Wills (Stokes)
NOTES: One of the first regional productions of the revised Carrie. Good to have Ripley in something.
Carrie: The Musical - Stagedoor Manor - July 31, 1999
FORMAT: MP4 (SD)
CAST: Julie Kleiner (Carrie White), Vivienne Cleary (Margaret White), Nina Sturtz (Miss Gardner), Kaily Smith (Chris), Erin Evers (Sue), Blair Late (Tommy)
NOTES: Another abridged version. Video suffers from gen loss but has cleaned up decently. Piano is the only instrument in the orchestra, and it drowns out some of the singers. This has been incorrectly labelled as an authorized production, which is incorrect - this was an unauthorized production (e.g., no rights were secured before the production), though Gore (and Cohen) were in the audience of this performance and chose not to sue Jeff Murphy and Stagedoor over copyright infringement, partly because Gore said he had always wanted to see the show done with actual teenagers (reported by Jeff Murphy, the director).
Carrie: The Musical - Stratford-Upon-Avon - February 16, 1988 (Preview) (Pro-Shot's master)
FORMAT: MP4 (SD)
CAST: Linzi Hateley (Carrie White), Barbara Cook (Margaret White), Sally Ann Triplett (Sue Snell), Paul Gyngell (Tommy Ross), Charlotte d'Amboise (Chris Hargensen), Gene Anthony Ray (Billy Nolan), Darlene Love (Lynn Gardner)
NOTES: Filmed professionally for the RSC archives on the third night of the performance (February 16, 1988). Shot from first row mezzanine center with no obstructions with audio taken directly from the soundboard. Mostly a full stage shots without zooms. This is usually incorrectly labelled as "Opening Night (February 13, 1988)", which is incorrect, as on opening night, Barbara Cook was almost decapitated right after the set changes from "Don't Waste The Moon", which not seen in this video (also verified by the person who copied this from the archives).

NOTES: A nice capture of the short lived show. Disc also includes around 100 minutes of interviews, B-Roll, behind the scenes, etc. Great video with nice picture and clear sound. A

CAST: Aaron Tveit (Frank Abagnale, Jr.), Norbert Leo Butz (Agent Carl Hanratty), Tom Wopat (Frank Abagnale, Sr.), Rachel de Benedet (Paula Abagnale), Kerry Butler (Brenda Strong), Linda Hart (Carol Strong)
NOTES: This is a great capture of the show. The show is filled with wonderful talent. Aaron and Norbert have a great chemistry together and Aaron has a huge voice. Kerry and Felicia both have great songs and great vocals. The show itself is very sleek and mod. A

CAST: Alex Jennings (Willy Wonka), Zachary Loonie (Charlie Bucket), Billy Boyle (u/s Grandpa Joe), Vincent Finch (Augustus Gloop), Amy Carter (Veruca Salt), Rhianna Dorris (Violet Beauregarde), Daniel Rhodes (Mike Teavee)
NOTES: Fun show with very imaginative staging, though I do wish they used more songs from (either) movie. The first 5 minutes of Act One has some wandering and blackouts, but after that it is a steady and unobstructed shot. Includes curtain call.
Chasing Rainbows - Paper Mill Playhouse - October, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master)

CAST: Karen Mason (Ma Lawlor), Stephen DeRosa (LB Mayer), Colin Hanlon (Roger Edens), Karen Mason (Kay Koverman), Ruby Rakos (Judy Garland), Lesli Margherita (Ethel Gumm), Max von Essen (Frank Gumm), Michael Wartella (Mickey Rooney)
NOTES: Great HD capture of this Judy Garland bio musical focusing on her early years, leading up to The Wizard of Oz, with a couple of fun tap numbers! Act One starts when Judy sings a version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow (same tune but with different lyrics). Act Two starts part way through the number right before they enter the MGM studio. Please do not post screenshots of this video on Twitter ever. Gifs on Tumblr are okay after the NFT date, but don't go linking things to actors and shows.
The Cher Show - Broadway - April, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master)
FORMAT: MP4 (HD)

NOTES: Beautiful HD close-ups but some long drop-outs and quite a few obstructed scenes. The rake in the mezzanine at the Neil Simon kinda stinks and I'm pretty sure the ushers were playing flashlight tag with each other the entire show. but I began to care a lot less as the night went on Video is very Cher-centric...choreography in "Dark Lady" is captured beautifully, but for the rest of the show I was mostly focused on getting those Stephanie, Teal, and Micaela zooms. We start at the scene before "Half Breed" and when Stephanie tells everyone to stand up for the finale it's all over for my filming ability.

NOTES: Almost the full show (2 hours and 7 minutes). Usually referred to as Press Reels, this is actually the unedited footage shot for press or archival purposes. Decent amount on generation loss with some distortion at the top of the screen, and a time code at the bottom. Sometimes incorrectly labeled as 1995 .

NOTES: The original Broadway cast filmed prior to moving to Broadway. Professionally filmed using multiple cameras for the Lincoln Center Theatre on Film and Tape (TOFT) archives. Newly surfaced video which is a HUGE improvement over the previous version which has been in circulation for a while. This is also complete and includes the opening announcement alerting the audience that the show is being filmed. Amazing quality, but still has a little generational loss. In black and white. The DVD has been enhanced with chapter stops for all of the musical numbers. This, along with the tapes of Crazy for You and Passion, is amongst the only three TOFT tapes that have been leaked.

NOTES: HD capture of the Australian company of this fantastic musical. Includes a video of a post-show Q&A with the cast in honour of the 18th anniversary of September 12. Shot from the back row of the dress circle, so a head blocks the centre at times but it’s shot around where possible. Most noticeable in the group numbers where a lot of the action is downstage. The first 4 minutes or so is mostly wandering shots as I was setting up my camera and evading ushers. A lot of great close-ups - Zoe’s “Me and the Sky” is a highlight.

NOTES: As far as I know, the first ever video of the Toronto production! I had the entire show in VOB format ready to post but, unfortunately, I lost the USB it was on in the middle of an airport. Luckily I was able to salvage all but thirty minutes of the original footage, so all that's lost is part of the scene after "I Am Here" and a portion of "Somewhere In The Middle Of Nowhere". If you find a USB the size of a thumbnail around Pearson, it's a $5 reward! A flu passed around the cast that they were all just recovering from, and at one point you can see Bev take a tissue out of her pilot's jacket and blow her nose. It explains the large number of understudies on, particularly of interest is that of the role of Hannah being played by a Caucasian actress, which causes her absence for the bus scene and leads to a severely different dynamic I'd not seen the character played as before.

NOTES: The bottom left of the video is slightly obstructed by a lighting rail. The master accidentally stop recording during '38 Planes' but realized right away so it’s only missing a second or two. Some nice close-ups. Clive misses the cue for the first “Welcome to the Rock!”

Alright, here we go. I went by their general color scheme, traits and ranks as well as general vibes to assign them a gem, placement, weapon and dance style. The fusions are a topic for another day so that this post doesn't get too long. I might even create them in Gemsona Maker or something. For the dance style, I chose mostly partner dances because they were simply more common in the 40s, I think? I know it makes it a bit difficult with fusing, but I like that, because the have to put actual effort into synchronizing the different dance styles.
Colonel Hogan
Hogan is a Hessonite with his gem on either his throat or forehead. Hessonites are military leaders and very high-ranking, similar to Colonels in the army. As for his gem placement, I couldn't fully decide on one. The gem placement on his forehead would put emphasis on his intellectual side and his insane plans. But there's also the possibility of the throat placement. This is only speculation, but I think a throat placement would be about the power of words and we all know how much Hogan loves to wrap people around his finger. I'm not really sure what his weapon would be since most of the heroes usually only use pistols. But I settled on a spear. A spear can be used for both precise stabs and brute-force smacks overthe back of the head, embodying both sides of Hogan's plans: Calculated but insane and sometimes you just have to wing it. As for his dance style, I looked into popular dance styles of the 40s and settled for the Mambo.
Kinch
Kinch is a Peridot because of his technical knowledge. His gem is placed on his right palm which (in reference to Sapphire) stands for his external calm nature but sarcasm hiding underneath. I could also see him as a forehead gem. I think his gem weapon would be a screwdriver. Is that a weapon? It's sharp, that's enough for me. Or maybe a shield would also be an option. They need someone defensive on the team. I imagine his dance style would be the jazz-tinted Foxtrot variant popular in the 40s. It just fits his vibes.
Carter
Carter, I believe, would be an off-color Jasper. Why? Because of the color scheme and because Jaspers (and Amethysts) have some form of pyrokinesis. The reason why he's considered off-color is that he's going against his purpose and came out "wrong". He's more interested in chemistry than fighting. He's definitely a navel gem with how much of a sweetheart he is. For his weapon, I settled for a saber. I know it's kind of an unconventional choice, but we've seen him use one before when he impersonated that saber-duelling General who wanted to kill Klink. Also, he could coat it in fire and cause massive chaos with it. Finally, I think his dance style would be swing. It's fast, it's fun, it looks chaotic if you don't know what's going on... Perfect.
Newkirk
Now, Newkirk is pretty interesting. My boy Newkirk is a Pearl with his gem placed on his back. He's the second lowest rank in the gem hierarchy (which is a reference to his Cockney accent and its implications) and not a warrior. He's a performer - a magician, in fact, unlike the mass of other pearls. Now, the reason why I picked his back as his gem placement isn't because of the usual traits associated with it. I picked it because it's close to the chest, so close to emotions and impulsivity, but in a place that's a lot more vulnerable. The way I've always understood Newkirk's character is that his aggression comes from his hatred for the upper classes on one hand, but also from the fact that he doesn't want to be vulnerable. So his gem placement would represent that vulnerability he likes to hide. Also, in reference to Lapis, it's where his wings would be if he had them, giving a nod to his will to escape the military ranking system. But another neat thing is the fact that gems pull their weapons out of their gems. His weapon is a throwing knife and placing his gem on his back was also, for a large part, a way for me to reference one of my favourite Newkirk scenes ever. The only scene where we ever get to see him with his throwing knife and he keeps it strapped to his back somehow and pulls it out through his collar. His dance style, I think, would be Jive, the European variant of Swing. Fast, wild, oftentimes danced to rock...
LeBeau
Our tiny Frenchman is, of course, a Ruby. Just a small fiery bundle of anger. His gem is placed on his solar plexus, right between his chest (emotion, impulsivity) and stomach (compassion, love; and in this case food). His weapon is a pair of gauntlets that Newkirk likes to refer to as "kitchen mitts". As for his dancing style, I think it would be Tango. Sensual, romantic, lots of physical contact and just very fitting for him. An alternative would be slowdancing, but that's too slow for his personality.
Klink
Our dear Klink, I think, would be a Zircon. He just reminds me of Blue Zircon too much. I know Zircons aren't military gems, but Klink isn't really military-esque either. His gem would be round and over his left eye to mimic his monocle. Of course, his weapon is his riding crop. For his dancing style, it has to be Vienna Waltz. I mean, come on now.
Schultz
Schultz would probably be a quartz, maybe a Jasper or Chert. His weapon is a toy-style hammer. For his dance style, I think it would be influenced by German folk dance. Nothing too specific, just fun.
Burkhalter
General Burkhalter is an Emerald, the highest-ranking military gem. I feel like his gem would be either on his nose or bicep on either side, to show his aggression. His weapon would be like the helmet hammer thing Jasper has - which is how he got his scar. He got damaged by the shards of his shattered visor. Being a good and loyal Homeworld gem, General Burkhalter doesn't fuse.
Hochstetter
I believe Hochstetter would be an Agate. He's de-facto lower-ranking than Klink which is why I decided against my original idea of a Pyrope. An Agate fits him better either way since their purpose, according to Blue Diamond, is to be terrifying and Hochstetter is definitely terrifying Klink whenever he's around. His weapon would probably be a knife or an old saber. Something long and short for stabbing and maybe a bit of torture. Of course, Hochstetter also doesn't fuse.
Hilda & Helga
I'm grouping them together for ease. They'd both be Pearls, pretty obviously, because of the job they do. It only makes sense. Helga would have her gem on her thigh for her reserved and shy nature, whereas Hilda's would be on her stomach. I don't really know what their weapons would be. Maybe spears or daggers. For Helga maybe a shield. For some reason, I can see them enjoying tap dancing or the classic Foxtrot.
Vicky
I had to. You know I had to. Vicky is a Sapphire, no doubts about it. She's part of the aristocracy and the blue color scheme really fits her well. Aside from that, of course, her short and curvy stature. Her gem would be placed at her collarbone which apparently can come with any personality but is also tied to the association of "belonging to somebody else" or "not being their own person" which is fitting for Vicky since she's a spy and constantly pretending to be someone she's not. The "belonging to someone else" part is a parallel to the role of women in the Third Reich's ideology. Vicky's weapon would be a fan that she can shoot ice projectiles with. I wanted to give her a gun but I just don't think a gun should be the weapon of a singular gem. For a fusion, maybe, but not for a single gem. As for her dance style, she knows all the classic partner dances and has picked up some of the more unconventional ones too, so she's used to adapting herself to her partner and easy to fuse with. But if she had to pick her own dance style, it would be strongly influenced by the Minuet and take more of a form of Waltz if her partner dances something faster like Swing or Jive or Tapdance.
So, when I’m on a fandom kick and then I shift gears back toward another fandom, my brain starts trying to combine the two.
And thus, I’m thinking about what gems and gem placements the Hogan’s Heroes team would have. As well as what their fusions would be like. And their fusion dances and weapons. Like, I have so many ideas.
I also have no doubt that Carter’s gem weapon would be some sort of explosive. Basically, I need Hogan’s Heroes Gem AU.

the problem with comparing the series to the books is- that the intention of the series was clearly to keep more tension up. the book is showing that they are what’s „meant to be“ whatever the weather. end of story. whatever douchebags they are.
the series though knew that it is much more thrilling to see them approach slowly. but they are BOTH our main characters. still our douchbags. still meant to be.
imagine if the same thing had happened as in the books. how much would you have been exited to see a third season compared to this Lotte storyline? I love the books, but I am so thankful for this idea of Lottes background for the series. How exiting to think in every scene in season 3 „he knows what life she had“ how exiting to imagine his thoughts in the Burg when people make fun of her having been a prostitute. how composed he always tries to be. has to be.
And in episode 11 it is at least finally shown the truth, and that even with WORDS. I have to admit I didn’t expect this. But since someone else spoke it out it does WORK. that Lotte is in love with him was clear. she was always ashamed. He is the thing she thinks she could never reach with her dirty past. ironically- he thinks probably the same about her.
But now it’s on the table that he loves her deeply (thank you Ulrich!). And noone is quite shocked about it either. Even Gennat seems to have known it! (Also... how obvious must they have been, if Ulrich know it THAT well?!) As much as I hate Helga sometimes- she makes this more exiting. She shows his struggles with the old life. She is the connection to Anno. His bad feeling for doing the wrong thing. She symbolizes the past. Lotte symbolizes hope and the future. The pure and „just made for Gereon“ girl. A small, tender flower.
I don’t think that Gereon and Lotte are soon going to marry and have children. But I do also think, that what this series is intending is: they are true love. and they will find eachother over and over again. whatever his „marriage“ or her „private life“. Whatever they are facing- it’s always THEM to give eachother power and love. That is why they don’t get to be seen fast interacting with eachothers lives. For example with her family.
No, he just looks up to her house in ep. 2x01 or sees her workplace and realizes she had to sleep with Bruno in ep. 2x05 (?). Or the „Fräulein Ritter kommt oft nachts nicht nach Hause“... look at his face when he thinks of her being a prostitute...With him one has to read a lot of microexpression. how will it be for him to figure THAT out?! how does he think of her and her body ever since? how horrible must it have been for him? this amazing small pure intelligent girl trapped in such a world? with only 23?
That is why they never quite „touch“ eachother (metaphorically) cause then the tension would be gone. So - I love episode 11 and also 12. Cause Babylon Berlin doesn’t let us down. They just keep this exiting for us.
(And... he goes with her to the funeral... As the ONLY one. the ONLY ONE. after what he has said to her about Greta being guilty! I mean... come on!)

T.WITTER STARTER CALL • @nervecheck • Dina Samalha
She’s a little intimidated by the other woman. Not because of anything she’s done, of course; it’s just that Helga is a little wary of strangers when she doesn’t have one of the others with her. She’s ended up on duty behind the bar for the early part of the evening, which is usually alright because she only ends up serving regulars. Tonight, though, she’s not been so lucky.
But she trusts the Emcee’s judgement when it comes to their patrons, and she’s seen the way the stranger watches them as they dance. The memory of that makes her a little braver, as she approaches her.
“What would you like to drink, Fräulein?”

(covers her eyes with her sheet-covered hands) Werner Werman takes off his helmet, takes out his ghost costume (same as Tamara Werman's) and puts it on, making him look like a sheet ghost. Werner Werman: "Okay, you can open your eyes now." Tamara Werman gets her hands off her eyes and sees Werner Werman in his ghost costume, pretending to be a real ghost. Werner Werman: (ghostly voice) "Vooooooooooooooooooo... Kleiner Cousin Tamaraaaaaaaaa, IIIIIIIIIII am ein effen schpoooooooookier ghoooooooooooooooooost! Vooooooooooooooooooo..." (hugs Tamara Werman; normal voice) "Boo!" Werner and Tamara Werman laugh. Tamara Werman: "Zat vas so fun!" Werner Werman: "Ja, now let's go scare ze trick-or-treaters!" They hear a doorbell ring. Werner Werman: "Who is it?" Cuphead (off-screen): "It's Cuphead, Mugman and the Pipperson Siblings. Trick-or-treat!" Werner Werman: "Hold on!" (whispers to Tamara Werman) "Are you ready, kleiner Cousin?" Tamara Werman: (whispers to Werner Werman) "Ready, Verner." ( giggles quietly) Werner Werman: (whispers to Tamara Werman) "Okay, on drei." Werner and Tamara Werman: (whisper to each other) "Eins zwei drei!" (open the door; ghostly voices) "Booooooooooooo!!!!" Cuphead (dressed as a vampire), Mugman (dressed as a mummy), Skippy and Carly Pipperson (respectively dressed as a scarecrow and a pumpkin) stare at the cousins in their ghost costumes. Then, Mugman screams and holds onto Skippy Pipperson as Carly Pipperson cries and holds onto Cuphead. Cuphead: "Werner, is that you? And who is that girl with you?" Werner Werman: (normal voice) "Of course it's me, Cuphead, und ze girl vith me is mein kleiner Cousin, Tamara. You know her, don't you?" Cuphead: (calming Carly Pipperson down) "Yeah, I do know her. Cuphead, Mugman and Skippy and Carly Pipperson left. Werner Werman: "Vell, zat vasn't so bad. Now come on, Tamara, zey'll be more trick-or-treaters coming." Tamara Werman: (nods) "Ja." The two went back inside and closed the door behind them. Later, they scared more trick-or-treaters, such as the Color Four (Vinnie Vermillion, Barney Blue, Emily Emerald and Grace Gold) (respectively dressed as a vampire, a zombie, a witch and a angel), June Fritz (dressed as a princess), Lucine Schmidt (dressed as a sorceress), Violet and Lilac Halo (dressed as genies), Malitha and Eleanora Levolent (respectively dressed as a ghost and a witch), Ali Jaziri (dressed as a serial killer), Eliza Blossom (dressed as a princess), Octavius DeSpair (dressed as a mummy), Grace Russell (dressed as a fairy), Kenny James (dressed as a pirate), Carrie Lovejoy (dressed as a queen), Meiling Kai (dressed as a ninja), Miles Smartston (dressed as a wizard), Little Miss Calamity (dressed as a witch), Daisy Cartwright (dressed as an angel), Mavis Mint (dressed as a witch), Boris Blood (dressed as a vampire), Captain Black Tea (dressed as a werewolf) and Harvest Wine (dressed as a demon). Meanwhile, Vladimir Vladinstein III, dressed as a Van Helsing-esque monster hunter, noticed that there are many kids running away from Werner Werman's house. Vladimir Vladinstein III: "Hmmm, this seems very strange." He heads to Werner Werman's house where he heard Werner Werman's chuckling and Tamara Werman's giggling from inside the house and because suspicious. Vladimir Vladinstein III: "Werner Wer. His tricks are about to come to end right now!" (violently knocks on the door) "WERNER! Open door right now! Your children scaring days are over!" Inside Werner Werman's house... Werner Werman: (groans in annoyance) "Vladimir Vladinschtein III, mein vorst enemy. Vy did it haffe to be zis guy?" (smiles evilly) "Lucky for me, he has ein irrational fear of ghosts." Tamara Werman: "He does?" Werner Werman: "Of course, he does. So, vy don't you und me giffe zat crazy Russian sqvirrel ein good scare? Vat do you say, kleiner Cousin?" Wilhelmina Werman: "Vait, are our kleiner Bruder und kleiner Cousin really going to scare us?" Wiltrud Werman: "I don't know, sis!" Wilma Werman: "Me neither!" Eric Werman: "I'm scared!" Erika Werman: "I'm telling Tante Hermine!" Monika Werman: "Vait, inschtead of telling Mutter, ve schould play along if Verner und Tamara vant to scare us. Besides, zey're scheet ghosts. How bad can it be?" Anne Werman babbles in concern. Thaddeus Werman: "Relax, Kleine Schwester Anne. Zey're vearing Halloveen coschtumes." The siblings and their cousins hear ghostly moaning. Monika Werman: "Zey're here." Werner and Tamara Werman appear, still in their ghost costumes, and approached their family, moaning eerily while acting like spooky ghosts. Werner and Tamara Werman: (ghostly voices) "Vooooooooooooooooooo... Werman Family, wir sind zwei gruselige Geister, die nur an Halloween auftauchen, und wir sind hier, um Sie zu verfolgen! (Werman Family, we are two spooky ghosts who only appear on Halloween and we are here to haunt you!) Vooooooooooooooooooo..." Erika Werman: (whispers to the others) "Fräuleins first. I got zis." (screams in horror) "Ghosts!" Eric Werman: ""Ahhhhhhh!" is right!" (screams in horror) "Ghosts!" Heidi, Heinz, Helga, Heike, Hannah, Helena, Wilhelmina, Wiltrud, Wilma, Monika, Theodor, Thaddeus, Valentin, Valerie, Walter, Erika, Eric, Wenzel and Anne Werman scream and run from the "ghosts" as Waldeburg followed her siblings and cousins. Werner Werman chuckles as Tamara Werman giggles. Tamara Werman: "See? I told you zis is going to be fun!" Werner Werman: "You're right! Now let scare out family some more, schall ve?" (chuckles) Tamara Werman: (giggles) "Let's do it." Werner and Tamara Werman continue moaning eerily as they look for their siblings and cousins. Unknown to the duo, five real ghosts appear and are eavesdropping on the whole thing; it was Blind Specter himself and Werner Werman's Rat Wraiths (the ghosts of Tobias Werman (Werner's older cousin and Tamara's older brother), Franz Holtz, Anton Denzel and Lorentz Berlin). Ghost!Tobias Werman: "So, sis is vere Verner und Tamara vent?" Blind Specter: "Apparently, yes. It looks like they're being sheet ghosts." Ghost!Franz Holtz: "It looks like Verner und Tamara haffe ein "schpirited" relationship!" A rimshot was heard as he laughs. Ghost!Anton Denzel: "Vasn't zat joke already used?" Ghost!Franz Holtz: "I don't know, but I zink it vas pretty funny." Ghost!Lorentz Berlin: "But vat are Verner und Tamara doing?" Ghost!Tobias Werman: "I zink zey're scaring mein Geschwister und Cousins." Blind Specter: "So, they want a little Halloween fun, eh? I think it's time for you four to join them." The Rat Wraiths chuckled and followed Werner and Tamara Werman, who are moaning while pretending to be ghosts. Thaddeus Werman (off-screen): "Are you sure ze ghosts von't get us?" Heinz Werman (off-screen): "Don't be ridiculous, Zaddeus! Zey are only playing!" Heidi Werman (off-screen): "Yeah, zey von't hurt us." Theodor Werman (off-screen): "Boy, älterer Cousin Werner und kleine Schwester Tamara are haffing fun scaring us." Waldeburg Werman (off-screen): "Vell, I don't know how to get scared, so I'm good." Monika Werman (off-screen): "How disappointing, but at least you're braffe. Good zing ze "ghosts" von't find us in ze closet." Hearing this, Werner Werman chuckles as Tamara Werman giggles. Then, they come towards the closet while the Rat Wraiths followed them. As Werner Werman opens the closet door, he, Tamara Werman and the Rat Wraiths let out ghostly moans, causing the other siblings and cousins (except for Waldeburg Werman) screamed in horror until they started laughing and Werner and Tamara Werman and the Rat Wraiths laughed as well. Monika Werman: (laughs) "Good vone, you zwei!" Werner Werman: (laughs) "Danke, sis!" Tamara Werman (laughs): "Ja, danke, Monika!" Theodor Werman: "Und ze Rat Wraiths aren't bad either." Werner and Tamara Werman: (turn to see the Rat Wraiths) "Guys?" Ghost!Tobias Werman: "Hallo, Verner! Tamara Werman: "Vow, Verner, ve did haffe fun!" Werner Werman: "I know, right? I vonder..." Hermine Werman (off-screen): "Kids, vat's going on around here?" As Hermine Werman arrives, her youngest son and fourth youngest daughter come to her while moaning eerily. Werner and Tamara Werman: (ghostly voices) "Voooooooooooooo... Mutter/Tante, wir sind die Geister Ihres Sohnes und Ihrer Nichte, Werner und Tamara Werman und wir werden Sie verfolgen! In acht nehmen! (Mother/auntie, we are the ghosts of your son and niece, Werner and Tamara Werman and we will haunt you! Beware!) Voooooooooooooo..." Hermine Werman: "Let me guess, you zwei dress up as ghosts every year on Halloveen." Werner Werman: (normal voice) "How did you know zat?" Hermine Werman: "Your Geschwister und Cousins told me efferyzing." Werner Werman: (chuckles nervously) "How much trouble are ve in?" Hermine Werman: "You zwei are not in trouble." Werner Werman: "Really? Zat's good." Tamara Werman: "Tante Hermine, can Cousin Verner take me trick-or-treating?" Hermine Werman: "Are you sure, Tamara?" Werner Werman: "It's okay, Mutter. I'll take Fräulein Tamara trick-or-treating." Hermine Werman: "Zen, ja." Tamara Werman: "Yay!" Later, Werner and Tamara Werman, still dressed as ghosts, are at the street. Tamara Werman: "Danke for taking me trick-or-treating, Cousin Verner." Werner Werman: "Nein problem, Fräulein Tamara. Zat's vat ältere Cousins are for." The two arrived at the Devil's Casino and knocked the door. King Dice answers it and looks at them. Werner and Tamara Werman: (ghostly voices) "Voooooooooooooooo..." Werner Werman chuckles as Tamara Werman giggles. Werner Werman: (normal voice) "Hallo, King Dice. Happy Halloveen. I'm just taking mein kleiner Cousin trick-or-treating." Tamara Werman: (normal voice): "Trick-or-treat!" King Dice: "Trick-or-treat, eh? Okay then, trick!" (rolls a pair of dice) Werner and Tamara Werman glare at King Dice as the Rat Wraiths materialize, glaring at King Dice as well. King Dice screams in horror, takes out a bowl of candy and pours some of it into Tamara Werman's trick-or-treat bag before closing the door. Tamara Werman: "Danke!" Werner and Tamara Werman and the Rat Wraiths laugh. Werner and Tamara Werman: "Happy Halloveen!"

So... @kittychan-sings-enka wanted a Hogan's Heroes musical... My hyperfixation decided HELL YEAH. Then my brain remembered my backstage tour of the Bodyguard musical from, like, four or five years ago... and here we are.
Hogan's Heroes: The Musical
(Title is a work in progress)
First of all, let me talk to you about the stage. During my backstage tour, I got introduced to how the different set pieces were moved. This musical would need lots of moving parts and the actors would be required to move with the set at times. The different locations we would definitely need would be:
Klink's office (with the little vestibule or whatever you might call it where Fräulein Helga/Hilda has her desk)
Barracks 2
The outside area of the camp (facing the gate so that we can have a proper roll call with Klink coming from the right, out of his office and the prisoners on the left, where the barracks are)
The tunnels' main room
The characters moving into the tunnels is possibly the most difficult version of what I mean by "actors would be required to move with the set". The bunk bed with the ladder is part of the barracks' set and opens into a hatch in the stage for when the tunnels aren't necessary. Someone can just come into the barracks from below. But if someone has to enter the tunnel and we, as the audience, need to follow him, the whole set of the barracks would be moved up and the ladder, fitting into the stage hatch, would be pulled up with it, while the actor is climbing on it. Slowly, mind you. They might hide behind the frame of the bunk and the walls of ground beneath it while the ladder is going up. Then, when the ladder is pulled fully out of the hatch, they can start climbing down further as the hatch closes and the rest of the set is transported onto the stage. The rest of the way is jumped down and the ladder moves up fully. Now, this sounds like a huge safety hazard and I don't know nearly as much about stage mechanisms as I pretend I do, but I'll just assume this works. This is all just for fun after all.
Now, the cast and what I imagine their "voiceclaims", I guess:
Col. Robert Hogan - Bob Crane (I haven't found any clips of him singing that would work well as an example here, but as far as I'm aware, he was a great singer) Alternatively: Rayvon Owen or Jeffrey James. He was a bit hard to figure out...
T.Sgt. Andrew Carter - Larry Hovis or Von Smith. Now, listen, I know Larry Hovis was a professional singer and he's literally the one who played Carter, but his singing voice is a bit too deep for the character in my opinion. So, I picked someone as an alternate who also looks like they could play Carter and has that bit of quirkiness and higher-pitched tone I had in mind. Also, I simply adore his collabs with PMJ and his song "The Mystery of Mister V", so let me be a fangirl.
SSG James "Kinch" Kinchloe - Ivan Dixon. No question about it, not even getting an alternate. I mean, come on now!
Cpl. Louis LeBeau - Robert Clary. Again, no reason to set an alternate. And I wouldn't have been able to find an alternate with a French accent if I had tried and I just can't imagine him without that
Cpl. Peter Newkirk - Richard Dawson (who clearly wasn't a singer - I'm sorry, but it's true. Both of his songs on the album the cast made are mostly spoken-word, but I picked this song because you can hear his singing voice better. Don't get me wrong, I still love Richard Dawson and my boy Newkirk, but you'll have to agree with me that he was the worst singer out of the cast) or Casey Abrams (just with a Cockney accent). With Newkirk, I had the same issue I had with LeBeau, that it's hard for me to imagine Newkirk without the accent in the same way I always think something's wrong when I hear Richard Dawson talk without that strong Cockney accent. But I still searched my brain for singers that could match Newkirk as a character and Richard Dawson's voice and I got reminded of Casey Abrams whose covers I also love. Now, he's far from a perfect fit, but he has a voice that's both raspy and smooth, which is what I associate with Newkirk as a character.
Oberst Wilhelm Klink & Feldwebel Hans Schultz (no, I will not stop using their German ranks) - Werner Klemperer & John Banner (very obvious, wouldn't replace them even if I could)
Major Kriminalrat Wolfgang Hochstetter - doesn't sing. I can't imagine Hochstetter singing
General Albert Burkhalter - Leon Askin (holy hell, is Leon Askin the German dub voice too-? Ahem-) I mean, this isn't really sung either, but I can't imagine Burkhalter full-on singing in a musical setting either, so something like this will have to do
SSG Richard Baker (yes, our boy is here and he's getting a duet with Kinch) - Wayne Brady or David Simmons Jr. I really couldn't find any info on Kenneth Washington's singing or find a clip of him singing, so... This'll have to do.
Viktoria "Vicky" Brandt/Zoe Allen - Marilyn Monroe (obviosly; this also isn't the only clip of Marilyn singing by far, I just picked an example. I wanted to link the "Kiss" scene from "Niagara", but the amount of singing in that scene is so small, even if it fits Vicky very well). You'll have to imagine her posh accent. Now, before you get annoyed at me for inserting Vicky again, she actually serves a very practical purpose as a character in this musical: The Heroes have to introduce themselves and their jobs, right? Well, the best opportunity for that is when someone new joins their organization permanently. Also, we just know the Heroes would tell absolutely everything about their jobs and not be vague if they wanted to impress a woman and that's the amount of information we need to make a good musical song, I'd say.
This post is already very long, so I'll get into the story and songs in another post...

I am not any good at drawing anymore, but I wanted to do something to the #vamily fan art bandwagon.
I love playing Vampire and I really love the character Victor Temple! I felt that my character Helga would want to help him, get her to the path that would suit her best. So I wrote a little something, of how she would make contact.
*
Inside his office, hours until the grand opening, sits the undisputed baron of the Valley: Victor Temple.
Beside him sits piles of papers, a new roster of hired guards, staff and behind them a small heap of fabric swatches from Nelli that she dropped of days ago. With no breath flowing into his dead lounges, he does not sigh but feels the stress with so much resting on his shoulders.
Flashes of memories from the fire comes to remind him of how close he came to the finale death, not to long ago. A knock on his door takes him from the fire filled memories.
“Yes”
“Sir, a letter came for you.”
The voice of Cambell comes through the door before it opens and he enters.
“A letter?”
“Yes sir, the person sent a box of big white flowers with it.”
Victor grabs the letter in his hand. It’s made of a thick paper, sealed with silvery wax at the back. Stuck to the vax is a white rose petal, with a faint pink color at the edge to the petal.
“They smelled nice, should I put the flowers in some water?”
“Yea, put them in Nellis office for now.”
“Right away sir.”
Victor leans against his desk as he opens the envelope and takes out the letter written on the same thick paper, but now with a gilded border framing the swirly letters:
Mr. Temple
I would warn you to stay to close to the French rose. It has more thorns than petals.
Once I walked around inside the tower, but failed to see the reason why I should be oppressed and forced to walk a road already trodden on, made into more of a grave, a tunnel slowly becoming our tomb.
A decade after the second world war, I left to the states and found a group that gave me freedom, ran with the beast… the Sabbath.
I heard to the Anarch movement but thought little of it when I heard about it, but now I feel that it could hold a better ground to build on.
The Sabbath calls me Chaos you may know me as Fräulein H.
I ask to be given safe passage to your abode to speak and safe passage out of the city of angels afterwards, if my help is not needed.
I await your reply.
H.
Victor looks at the letter with a confused look. Who would know about this H person that he could ask? He folds it and slides it back into the envelope but stops as a small item inside slides slightly out from the envelop. A small note with a nr written with silver pen.
“Ally or trap I wonder.”
Victor puts the letter in safe underneath the pistol he keeps in there. Nelli and Anna-Belle would be back soon. He needed to get ready, tomorrow was the big day.
-Fin.

BABYLON BERLIN - Ep 10 Notes
I regret so much about how my fool affections set me up in this one. To lose a favorite right in the episode where I’d so grown to love...not since An***w D******er have I been so!!! so dunked. God. I’m mourn.
But also, this one opened with my favorite thing that can ever happen in a television program: a TANZ SEQUENCE
Episode 10
…..please tell me this is real. PLEASE O PLEASE O PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS REAL that they just DANCETHEATRE with each other in the mornings because they’re ABSURD PRECIOUS TINY LOVABLES.
this is the greatest thing I’ve ever fucking seen. I need fifty gifs. I need air.
well I officially love Helga now because it seems that her daydreaming is “I and my loved ones just bust out some winning choreography for no reason but the joy of it” and that is #relatable
ugh the kid sure is a bummer tho
remember when I hoped Moritz was a pet dog
Moritz seems to oddly prioritize his missing father over the uncle that’s always been in his life given that he at most he would have known Anno for like, 8 months. as an infant.
appreciate the opening zoom on a glass of absinthe, always
nice fringe Lotte
it took me a moment to realize what was throwing me off so hard here was that this dude is singing in ENGLISH. no English allowed in Deutschland.
I mean in point of fact, Lotte is incredibly well-situated to be an undercover detective. incredibly.
“That you Soviets are eager to help build up the illegal Riechswehr is a matter in itself---” lol yeah, that’s uh not gonna work out for you! #historyspoilers
“astonishing” is a cognate in German! and appropriate when talking about breaking the Treaty of Versaille! so glad I mentioned that, now it is eeeverywhere
Lotte!! EXCELLENT COY COVER. I laughed. and I love you.
hahahaaawww, Gereon grinning at Lotte snoozed at her desk, hair a mess. long night, fräulein?
true ~allure~ is drinking down an entire cup of coffee without taking a breath while the person across from you stares at you in fear and awe
The Queen of Berlin
aw sweetheart. your mom died. that’s why you haven’t gone home….
I like immensely this usual-gender reversal of her trying to press on with The Work, exhausted and badass and martyr-y, as he tries to care for her and get her to rest
Nyssen’s Weimar bellbottoms are gonna be the death of me. in a pained way.
bro-in-law is The Wuuuuursst
like seeing Greta in progressively finer clothes
oh shit you guys, I had mislabeled Fritz—he’s a Commie, not a Nazi! listen he is a very blond and politically fervent young German man in 1929, I made an easy mistake.
well looks like Inspector Rath has found another shady arena he’ll casually walk into in his quest for JUSTICE
aw poor pups
huh. Jen does Stefan look like Eben sometimes? the eyes & nose?
appreciate how very visibly they’re cutting up this footage to not actually show any dogs actually attacking any dogs. no dogs were harmed!
looolololol, Gereon holding his arm open silently and Stefan just *swhoop*, popped right in there like *hat* *brows*
Gereon: “You’re arrested for illegal firearms. And 15 cases of murder.”
awww, is Lotte going to Stefan’s place? he will tooootally take her in. he will Understand, also, and she doesn’t even know that yet.
this is too cute I can’t. their little dinner table. his dad has two spoons in his bowl.
[hyperventilating] deaf interrupting and shushing is all hand-on-hand, of course, aaakdfakfjs
honeeeeyyy oh no! doll, dear, stay the night
Stefan is just helplessly in love with her now, helplessly
honestly, sleeping in a quiet little Berlin apartment while a quiet little Berlin boy studiously sits at his desk and attends to things like alarms and curtains for you is kinda Rest Dreams
hah, Gereon’s gonna be like “where is Charlotte?” and Stefan will be all “[blush] [stammer] asleep in my bed :))” and Gereon will be like “[eloquent slightly open mouth and tilted brow] …well at least she’s sleeping somewhere.”
or fucking shit maybe instead EDGAR will just ROCK UP outside the bureau with his broad fur lapels and a face like “can’t believe it but Hello Again. Rath.”
not even gonna try to predict what he’s gonna hear over this RADIO he has to procure
at one point in this post I almost wrote something like “no one in this show is a cinnamon roll” but I was wrong because Stefan Jänicke and These Binoculars
wait hold on, BRUNO? FUCKIN hell
the reason why you can’t reach Herr Brenda is because he’s off being one half of the world’s most tidy & studious police team slash double act
this is fun, turns out I’m very much enjoying the politics plot
goddamnit, Bruno…you can’t make up your badness debt, but gosh you do keep trying
what, is this some kind of shorthand? does Stefan know shorthand in addition to reading lips? what can’t this boy do!
“Always refreshing, is Böhm.” thank u translator for keeping the Germanic grammar of this
I miss the boarding house, this was a nice setting for scenes
enjoying the one-two punch of people trying to convince Gereon to turn on his corrupt department. and like, he knows they’re right, that’s why they tell him.
Lady Doctor: “I know that, and you know that.” lol what did I tell you
these dancing fools are seriously so cute
the little bartender gal smiling to see her weird pal with a partner!
is Bruno literally gonna have the gold delivered to his own house, wtf my dude, right under Gereon’s nose! he’s gonna find out and be furious!
um. I’m all of a sudden….worried about Stefan making his way through the city right now. stay uh, stay safe darling.
everything is lit in yellow and I’m WORRIED
it’s so scary oh no oh my god Stefan be safe!
noooo-o-o-o they’re surrounding him :(( !
the yellow though! why!
noooooooooooo. oh my god I’m genuinely so sad, oww, ah my heart. darling…this cruel world
also that murd erer was shaped kind of like Bruno Wolter and I will--SCREME
oh I just thought of his parents and real started crying oh no
I’ve come back 10 minutes later to tell you that I’m still sad and upset!
Hurtfullest Side-Detective Death of My 2018: Babylon Berlin vs. Killing Eve, rate in :(’s

Thanks in advance!
