Black Myth: Wukong - performance level is comparable to Cyberpunk 2077 - quick RTX 4090 benchmark results PathTracing On vs Off
Black Myth: Wukong - performance level is comparable to Cyberpunk 2077 - quick RTX 4090 benchmark results + PathTracing On vs Off TL;DR - game is demanding as hell (Cyberpunk level) - from the benchmark graphics games looks nice but it's hard to tell for now if the game performance is justified by it's visual quality.PathTracing ON vs OFFTest results:maxed out native 4k WITHOUT PathTracing - sub 50FPS - results in avg. around 45-49 FPSmaxed out native 4k WITH PathTracing - sub 30 FPS - result in avg. 23-25 FPSChanging visual settings does give a bit of uplift - the difference between Very High and Cinematic is around 5-8%. Additionaly game settings are scaling pretty well - lowest settings are truly potatoe'ishPlayable settings for me are:Maxed out without PT + DLSS set to 65% (I tried using 66% which is equivalent of Quality preset but games round to 65%) and I got a lot of headroomMaxed out without PT + DLSS set to 85% - I am slightly above 60 fpseverything maxed out + PT + DLSS set to 50% - gives me 60+ fps without frame-genVeryHigh preset + PT + DLSS set to 55-60%Benchmark test results screenshots:4k maxed out + DLSS 50% + PTVeryHigh preset + DLSS 50% + PTNative 4k without RayTracingNative 4k with RayTracingAdditional notes:Game is demanding - performance is very similar to Cyberpunk2077 maxed outI tested everything without DLSS Frame Gen - my goal is to have 60 fps before frame-gen as lower base fps value makes inpuit-lag too noticable for me - a little bit sub-60 is fine too. Bot dipping into 40's is a no-no for me.I don't test other RayTracing options beside PathTracing (in case of this benchmark setting RayTracing to Very High turns on PT). Other RT options are still demanding but the visual uplift is not worth it. PathTracing on the other hand is something mindblowing in my opinion.Update - I think there is something off with resolution scaling - the difference in performance is not as big as I would expect between for example 65% and 89%. I will check it out later.Final noteGame is heavy - which I don't mind - and looks really nice but from the benchmark footage it's hard to say if it's performance is justified.Another thing - the benchmark shows just a camera pan and fly through the forest without any combat/particle effects etc. - question is how representative it is comparing to normal fast-paced combat gameplay If the benchmark is "the worst case scenario" then I think the performance is ok'eish considering the visuals. Half-Life, stylized as HλLF-LIFE, is a science fiction first-person shooter developed and published by Valve. The player takes the perspective of scientist Gordon Freeman. Designed for Microsoft Windows, the game uses a heavily modified version of the Quake engine, called GoldSrc. n Half-Life, players assume the role of the protagonist, Dr. Gordon Freeman, a recent MIT graduate in theoretical physics, and also a recent employee at Black Mesa. After an experiment that goes horribly awry when an unexpected Resonance Cascade (an apparently completely fictitious occurrence) rips dimensional seams that devastate the facility, Gordon must fight to escape the now alien-infested facility as creatures from another world — known as Xen — subsequently enter in ever-increasing numbers through these dimensional seams. The game is set during May 200- in a remote area of New Mexico, USA at the Black Mesa Research Facility; a fictional complex that bears many similarities to both the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Area 51.
