Coming into the church had been a mistake. Rose didn’t understand the instinct that brought her to the front of the church much less the prone position she found herself in. It was like some bad Christmas romcom except she was damsel in distress.
Swiping a hand across her face she heaved a sigh that seemed to echo off the walls of the empty church. It’d been months since she’d last been here with her family. They had come Easter Sunday. The entire family had come, sitting towards the back because Brooks had thrown one of her tantrums. His tantrums.
Shaking her head at her mistake. She was never going to get used to the change. It should be easy except that it wasn’t. Changing pronouns after eighteen years is a lot to ask of someone and she was trying even though she was still making mistakes. Mistakes she knew hurt her sister rather her brother.
How was she supposed to help explain this to their parents when she didn’t understand it herself? Hating to admit it, even to herself, Rose knew it was because she didn’t want to accept it. Ever since Brook was a baby their parents dressed them in identical outfits for holidays and special occasions. Rose had spent the entire Easter holiday trying to convince Brooks she … he needed to play his part. Not to rock the boat. And Brooks had been miserable.
Now here she was inside a church hoping to get an answer to her dilemma. You’d think it’d be an easy decision. Support her sis…her brother and risk disappointing their parents or supporting her parents and alienating her brother. Why couldn’t Brooks have just left well enough alone? Brooks just had to tell their parents she was a boy trapped inside a girl’s body.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0f8c16467eba25c0009a2631c2fa470b/b68fb51a96d45861-2a/s540x810/b1deff2ea5920c12ea3a966ebfc9bdbca29300cb.jpg)
Intellectually Rose understood there was more to it than that. How many times had Brooks confided in her on how uncomfortable she was in her own body. Rose knew she was part of the reason why it had taken Brooks so long to tell their parents. But why couldn’t she have waited until right before they left for university?
That’s the real reason she was here. She couldn’t stand it at home anymore. Not the tears. Not the gloom and doom that seemed to fill the house. Her entire summer was ruined all because Brooks had to tell them how she felt.
“Hey,” a deep concerned voice said “are you alright?”
“What? Who?” she jerked her head up to find a young man with a colorful mop of unruly hair staring down at her. “I’m fine.”
“You don’t sound fine to me,” he said “do you want to talk about it? I could get the minister, he’s in his office.”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/32b66cad9c2f742f966311cd21cf8ae2/b68fb51a96d45861-c6/s540x810/5ce8fee221becbba66d354d9a40e6d28a40c9923.jpg)
“No,” she sniffled “but if you have any tissues that would be great.”
Grinning, he held out a box “I thought you might need them.”
“Thank you,” she said, pulling several tissues out.
“Are you sure you’re alright,” he asked again.
“Positive,” she said, dabbing at her eyes hoping her face wasn’t a smeared mess.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/48669c0c6363f18224b8db6c57371ea6/b68fb51a96d45861-f0/s540x810/f9eafdff528cb82bfb11a896cc424fd72df18ecf.jpg)
“If you say so,” he said, setting the tissue box on an empty pew. “I’m Fox Cornell, I volunteer at the shelter.”
“Oh,” she smiled up at him, “so that’s why you’re here.”
“Yep,” he nodded “most weekends, except next weekend. My sister’s getting married.”
“Congratulations,” she murmured as a funny ache filled her heart. Would Brooks be her maid of honor or a best man? Would they even want to be in her wedding? Why did she have to ruin everything by coming out?
Checking his phone he said “well if you’re sure you’re alright I should be going.” He started to turn away when she touched his hand.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a18ca9a077cf7d116d7dbc9adf207d15/b68fb51a96d45861-61/s540x810/dc3ce520b2b9a9f4ca0e345484d3f8e093ce3c13.jpg)
“I … um …. Appreciate your concern,” she smiled up at him “I’m Rose Mueller.”
“It’s nice to meet you Rose,” he smiled, fiddling with his phone. “I have to go. My sister’s sending me impatient texts because I’m already late for my tux fitting.”
“Then you better go,” she said “I know where to find you if I ever need a tissue.”
“Yeah right,” he chuckled as he hurried from the church.
“That was lame,” she muttered to herself once she was alone.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5d46fc553f084c0457dcd4ff7d94e7a6/b68fb51a96d45861-a6/s540x810/3c08f9fdb26111f8f75623104ca195deb9e66758.jpg)
The tux fittings took longer than Fox expected they would take. Maybe if Stella wasn’t so picky it would have taken half the time. Sometimes he wondered what Brad saw in her. He sure wouldn’t marry her if he had a choice.
He’d like to get married someday if he ever found the right person.
Maybe it was the girl from the church…what’s her name? She was pretty as a rose.
Snapping his fingers he grinned rose, that’s her name, Rose. Would he ever see her again? Maybe he could ask one of the cooks in the soup kitchen if they knew her but as soon as he thought of it he nixed it. That was the surest way of starting up gossip and he hated gossip; especially about himself.
Regretting that he hadn’t gotten Rose’s number when he had the chance he drove into the parking lot of a bar. He seldom drank but after spending hours with his sister appraising how he looked in his tux he felt the need for a drink.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/82876694dc2c082b94f9d08ec0912d4b/b68fb51a96d45861-f6/s540x810/2e4d82e157812fa6aec534f1d99764fc464a6238.jpg)
It wasn’t as busy as he thought it’d be for a Saturday night. There were couples dancing to whatever was playing on the jukebox. Fox started to make his way to the bar to place his order when he stopped and turned. One of the dancers seemed familiar and if he hadn’t just spent hours with him he’d never have recognized him without his cowboy hat.
“Brad,” he asked, walking up to the couple who were now lip locked.
Startled Brad pulled away from the woman in his arms. “Fox, what are you doing here?”
Frowning Fox crossed his arms “I could ask you the same thing.”
“It’s not what you think,” he stammered.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9efbdcbac6e21582d5f916b7555a528f/b68fb51a96d45861-31/s540x810/a1409d866dc7f3f6159220423c198cd2dfe0b46b.jpg)
“Really,” he said waving a hand towards the woman “that doesn’t look like my sister. You remember her, your fiance.”
“Fiance,” the woman said, her eyes round with shock.
“Wait,” Brad called after her, “I can explain.”
“I certainly hope so,” Fox said, stepping in front of him.
“This doesn’t concern you,” Brad said, trying to walk around him.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e07d7517342776b24d0fef0088ca9081/b68fb51a96d45861-5a/s540x810/a9f11377431e3958dcc255958c8a589eb03f3ef7.jpg)
“The hell it doesn’t,” Fox said, grabbing his arm “you’re engaged to my sister.”
“Yeah and maybe if your sister was a little more warm I wouldn’t have to look elsewhere,” he said.
“Don’t give me that,” Fox said “you’ve known Stella ever since you were kids. You know what she’s like.”
“Yeah I know,” Brad mumbled as he watched the woman he was dancing with walk out the door. Shrugging off Fox’s hand “you can leave now that you’ve ruined my night.”
Fox shook his head as he watched the man his sister was going to marry in a week’s time walk away as if Fox was the problem. What did his sister see in him?

i registered to vote for the first time ( i feel old) now that im an adult but my state has closed primary elections which i was wondering if you have an opinion about. my initial thought was that its bad because i had to register democrat (rather than my states green party which represents my beliefs more) just so i could vote between democrat candidates, which feels like being pressured into supporting the weird pseudo two party system we have. but then i looked it up and apparently a reason for this is so that people from opposing parties wont purposefully mess up the votes just so that their preferred candidates have an easier time winning, and i think that makes sense too. but is that actually the reason theyve closed it or is it just to force us dem/republican?? cause it feels strange
Okay, look. I respect the fact that you're a young person, and I appreciate that you have not only registered to vote, but plan to vote in the primaries, so I don't want to lecture you too much. That said: I am taking you out for coffee, I am sitting you down, I am looking into your eyes, and I am urgently telling you the following:
The Green Party is a scam. It is a scam. It has existed for decades in American politics as an empty shell corporation weaponizing the good intentions of young people like yourself, because all it theoretically stands for "it's good to save the planet maybe." Which is not something that any non-insane person seriously disagrees with, but there is no world in which that cause is actually furthered by registering/voting Green (you mentioned that you did vote for Democrats, which -- good, but listen to me here, youngun, okay?) It ran Jill Stein in 2016 to siphon more votes from HRC, and this election it plans to run Cornel West, a pro-Russian tankie who positively equated Bernie and Trump, as another spoiler candidate. It does not stand for "protecting the planet" or America in any real way. It has never elected a single senator or congressman, let alone a president. It stands for empty performance/grievance political theater by those people who feel too morally superior to vote for/affiliate with Democrats, often because the internet has told them that it's not Cool or Hip or Progressive enough.
If your main priority is climate/the environment, you're doing the right thing by registering as a Democrat and voting for Democrats. (Also: the adjectival form is Democratic. It is the Democratic party and Democratic candidates, otherwise you sound like the Fox News host who wrote a book literally entitled "The Democrat Party Hates America.") They are the only major party who has in fact passed major climate legislation and have made environmental justice a central tenet of their platform. As opposed to the Republicans, whose Project 2025, along with the rest of its nightmare fascist prescriptions, openly pledges to completely wreck existing climate protections and forbid any new ones, just because we weren't all dying fast enough under their death-cult rule already. That's the main logical fallacy I don't get among both the Online Leftists and the American electorate in general: "the Democrats aren't doing quite enough as I'd like, so I'll enable the active wrecking ball insane lunatics to get in power and ruin even the progress we HAVE managed to make!" Like. How does that even make sense?
On a federal level, the Greens have contributed nothing whatsoever of tangible value to American or international climate policy/legislation, environmental justice, or anything else, because as noted, they don't have any elected candidates and mostly focus on drawing voters away from Democrats. There might be plenty of good candidates on the local or city level, which -- great! Vote away for Greens if they're available, or the only other option is a Republican! But on the federal/primary level, please understand: once again, they are a scam. There is no point in affiliating yourself with them. You're welcome to register Green and vote Democratic, if that makes you feel better or if you prefer having another label next to your name, but once again, I'm telling you in my position as a salty Tumblr elder that they have done nothing but harm to the causes they claim to care about, because "environment" is such a nebulous priority and has demonstrably been hijacked to stop the American government entity, i.e. the Democrats, that is actually working to improve on it.
As for your question: nobody is "forcing" or "pressuring" you to vote in primaries. By your own admission, you made a conscious choice to register as a Democrat in order to vote for Democratic candidates. If you were just a regular registered voter of whatever party affiliation, you would vote in the general election for whatever candidate the primary process produced. But if you are sufficiently vested and committed to that process that you would like to have a say in who is running under that party label, it is not unreasonable that you would register as a member of that party. Nobody has twisted your arm behind your back and made you do so; you are taking a considerable level of initiative on your own. Likewise, open primaries can be both a good and bad thing. This falls under the "the political system we have is flawed, but we can't magically pretend it doesn't exist and act according to our own fantasyland versions of reality" thing that I keep saying over and over. So yes, if you want a role in shaping the Democratic candidates who emerge from a Democratic primary process, you will usually register as a Democrat, and nobody has forced you to do that. It's that simple.
Likewise as a general programming note: I'm trying to cut back on politics a bit right now, because I don't have the spoons/bandwidth/mental health to deal with it. I apologize. So if you've sent me a politics-related ask recently and haven't received a response, I'm not deliberately or maliciously ignoring you; I just am not able to handle it as much as usual and will have to put it on pause. However, I feel as if this is important enough to be worth saying, so, yeah.

When hunting for mice in winter, red and Arctic fox are known to plunge headfirst at speeds of 2–4 meters per second, but their sharp noses reduce the impact force in snow and protect them from injury, according to a new Cornell University study. The fundamental research sheds light on the biomechanics of the unique hunting behavior (known as mousing), advances our understanding of animal adaptations and offers insights into snow injuries people experience during snowboarding or skiing. The study appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

These are the tech bros dismantling democracy in America at the behest of unelected Elon Musk. Basically a bunch of spoiled rich brats.
Elon Musk’s team of young DOGE disruptors have been unmasked, much to the ire of the billionaire and other MAGA figures. One is a 19-year-old college freshman and heir to a popcorn fortune. Another was hosting Model UN sessions in 2019 and a third was given money by his parents to invest in stocks while at his high school in Silicon Valley. [ ... ] Musk’s team of youngsters, as first reported by WIRED on Sunday, is Akash Bobba, 21, a student at the University of California, Berkeley; Edward Coristine, 19, a student at Northeastern University in Boston; and Ethan Shaotran, 22, who said in September he was a senior at Harvard. The ones who actually have degrees, or at least have left college, are: Luke Farritor, 23, who attended the University of Nebraska without graduating; Gautier Cole Killian, a 24-year-old who attended McGill University; and Gavin Kliger, a 25-year-old who attended Berkeley; The group’s relative lack of experience—especially no previous positions in government work—has Democrats crying foul they were granted access to sensitive records while remaining largely in the shadows, away from public scrutiny. All six desperately tried to cover their digital tracks recently, almost all of them deleting LinkedIn profiles, X accounts and even Facebook.
The most peculiar one, Gavin Kliger, is a Matt Gaetz groupie.
But what Kliger really wants the world to know about is his belief in male MAGA warriors Matt Gaetz and Pete Hegseth’s brilliance, using his Substack to post about them both. Gaetz, who was investigated over allegations of teenage sex trafficking, was, according to Kliger, a victim of “the deep state.” Hegseth, a serially unfaithful former Fox News star accused of sexual assault, drunkenness, and receiving lap dances while in uniform, was, he wrote “the warrior Washington doesn’t want but desperately need.” Kliger, whose Cornell graduate father is an attorney for Experian, appears happy to monetize his DOGE experience: he has made the entry about DOGE on his Substack for $12-a-month subscribers only.
Kliger even looks like an aspiring Matt Gaetz. Maybe he'll use the fees from his Substack to finance Gaetz-style cosmetic surgery.

NewsNation:
(NewsNation) – Dr. John Moore, Cornell University virologist and researcher, says “Red COVID” is a “statistically proven phenomenon” — that people in Republican-led states are “more likely to die from COVID.” Moore believes COVID misinformation is what ultimately “killed voters” in red states. “The reason you’re less likely to be vaccinated is you’re bombarded with this information from right-wing sources, notably Fox News, and by the political leadership of the red states,” Moore said during a Thursday appearance on NewsNation’s “CUOMO” while discussing a recent lawsuit filed against Pfizer by the state of Kansas. “Red state politicians ended up killing their constituents and voters.”
In the lawsuit filed Monday, Republican Attorney General Kris Kobach claims Pfizer misled Kansas residents by claiming the vaccine was safe and hid evidence of the shot’s link to myocarditis and pregnancy issues. “Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth,” he said in a statement.
Dr. John Moore went on NewsNation’s Cuomo last night to drop facts about how the right-wing misinformation campaign against COVID vaccines led to more deaths in red states.
Dr. Moore calls this trend “Red COVID”.

ITHACA, NEW YORK – Jewish Cornell University students reported that many of their peers on campus have been questioning their allegiances to left-wing student groups after some came out in defense of a professor who called the Hamas terrorist attack in Southern Israel "exhilarating."
Fox News Digital spoke to "Cornellians" on background and on the record who said they were aware of a political shift among Jewish students. Some of them are questioning their ties with various progressive groups – and some with progressivism as a movement itself.
"A lot of the students that come to Cornell are liberal, and I think this is making a lot of Jews that would consider themselves liberal really question that," a student studying statistics and computer science, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, said. "What they will be doing is silently reflecting and shifting who they would vote for in the future…. They're paying attention to… the Republican primaries to see who supports Israel the most even though that contradicts their previous values."
One of those students currently going through the dialectic – who has not yet found a political home – is Isaac Bloomgarten, a freshman studying engineering.
CORNELL STUDENTS REACT TO SUSPECTED 'HAMAS FIGHTER' ARREST BY DOJ: 'TERRIFYING TO BE ON CAMPUS RIGHT NOW'
Bloomgarten said he feels "betrayed" by the left with whom he always stood.
"I've always been an ally of the left. I've stood with LGBTQ people. I've stood with trans people, nonbinary people. I've always stood with them against forms of hate and discrimination. But I feel like they won't do the same for me," he said.
He has seen some of those same friends, including those he considered close, "make posts commending Hamas for what they did, declaring them as freedom fighters and how they were liberating their people by murdering Jews."
BILLIONAIRE HEDGE FUND MANAGER DOESN’T WANT TO HIRE HARVARD STUDENTS WHO BLAMED ISRAEL FOR HAMAS ATTACKS
"It's so hard to comprehend this level of hatred," he said. "And they sit next to you in class…I have to hope that people are just uneducated and don't know better and that they are not actually evil."
Ezra Galperin, a freshman who plans to major in government, said, "I think people for good reason are very much questioning their involvement with progressive organizations on campuses that have effectively justified Hamas' invasion."
CEO MARC ROWAN CALLS ON UPENN LEADERS TO RESIGN, ALUMS TO HALT DONATIONS OVER ALLEGED ANTISEMITISM
Galperin is questioning his ties to certain progressive groups on campus after some came out in support of Professor Russell Rickford. Rickford is currently on leave after saying he was "exhilerat[ed]" following the Hamas surprise terror attack that left 1,400 dead, including women, children, and elderly civilians.
Galperin said the comments and the outpouring of support for Rickford was as "regressive as it gets."
"I know without a shred of doubt that we as a Jewish community, we stand behind oppressed people… It's not all the progressive organizations on campus. I don't even know if it's most of them. But… we can't work with organizations that openly advocate for people who are exhilarated by the rape and murder of our families," he said.
CORNELL PROFESSOR WHO WAS 'EXHILARATED' AFTER HAMAS ATTACK ISSUES APOLOGY FOR 'REPREHENSIBLE' REMARKS
Galperin added that he hopes progressivism will reform away from being willing to associate with antisemitic groups.
"But I don't think any of us believe that that stops us from advocating for progressive things. You know, we can be Jewish and progressive. We can hold those beliefs… we're not going to let this stop us from advocating for a better world," he said.
Amanda Silberstein similarly said Rickford's comments and student groups' responses are "causing some more progressive Jews on campus… to reevaluate how much they adhere to certain ideologies."
Netanel Shapira explained that part of what is causing some of the shift is that Jewish students, who consider themselves a minority group, feel abandoned.
Shapira explained that he cannot support Black Lives Matter as an organization, though he does support Black liberation, because that particular political group is virulently anti-Israel.
"I find that pretty unfortunate if they're willing to side with people who are literally terrorists," he said.
Shapira said he is not alone in questioning ties to certain progressive groups.
"You want to believe that in a moment of despair where you were slaughtered, your people were raped, burned, murdered in cold blood, brutally on video with evidence. You'd like to think that the world was saying there is something wrong with that. And we stand by you in this moment of pain. Not only is there not that reaction. You have people who also have suffered horrible things in their history… justifying it. They're saying, ‘Oh yeah, it was fine because of X, Y, Z,'" Shapira said.
Sam Friedman also said that Jews are feeling left out of progressive politics, causing them to ask themselves "serious questions" about their alliances.
"The whole idea of the sort of liberal progressive movement is to be more caring and be more considerate of other people. But they're realizing that while a lot of minorities are getting good treatment… the Jewish people are not. They're almost treated… not worthy of consideration. And so I think… the progressive [Jews] are taking some serious questions… Either [to] make the progressive community more supportive… or be less involved."
Josh Rosenheim agreed, saying Hamas alignments from some progressive circles may be causing "political realignments" among Jews.
"I would hope we could go beyond scoring political victory points surrounding that issue and come together in the recognition that everyone, all students, should be safe on college campuses," he said.
Another student speaking on the condition of anonymity, who is studying biology, said the progressive left co-mingling with Hamas supporters is not only causing Cornell students to question their political ties, but the wider community.
"I definitely think that that's been happening not just on Cornell's campus. I think in general Jewish people feel that," she said.

Following these events, protests broke out on college campuses – and pro-Palestinian demonstrations frightened Jewish students for, in many cases, sympathizing with Hamas' crimes and justifying them.
"The barbarity and pure evil of the unspeakable acts committed by these terrorists against civilians - men, women, and children - shocked the world. But what was just as shocking was what we saw next: college students and faculty cheering these attacks," Goldstein said.
At Cornell University, students told Fox News Digital they felt unsafe when a professor, Russell Rickford, said he was "exhilarated" after the Hamas terrorist attack. Students at Cornell, and around the country, also faced hostile rhetoric and chants from their peers such as calls for the elimination of Israel "From the river to the sea" and for "Intifada" – the Arabic word for "uprising" that also refers to violent Palestinian resistance efforts.
‘PURE HATE’: JEWISH STUDENTS DISCUSS LIFE IN WAKE OF ISRAEL WAR

The hostilities from the anti-Israel crowd – and their disruptions – led Brandeis University, Rutgers, Columbia University and George Washington University to suspend its Students for Justice in Palestine chapters. The SJP's national chapter called the Hamas terrorist attack a "historic win" for Palestinian resistance.
SJP was contacted for comment.
Brandeis cited concerns about whether the group's rhetoric was supportive of Hamas. It reminded students that such behavior "will be considered to be in violation of the University’s student code of conduct."
In the most extreme case, GWU students projected Palestinian phrases on a school building stating, "Glory to our martyrs."
The State of Florida, under the DeSantis administration, directed its colleges to terminate student chapters that support "Hamas terrorism." The directive warned that it was a "felony under Florida law to knowingly provide material support … to a designated foreign terrorist organization."
"Students for Justice in Palestine and its related groups have not only repeatedly cheered antisemitic terrorism, they have advocated importing it to America," said Liora Rez from StopAntisemitism, referring to chants for "Intifada."

Roz Rothstein of the pro-Israel group StandWithUs told Fox News she believed SJP chapters have feigned concern for social justice in order to gain supporters, and then laid the groundwork for "extreme campus antisemitism."
Jewish students had, for years, complained about campus antisemitism at universities. But it came to a boiling point when the nation heard the leaders of the most elite universities in the country voluntarily showed up to a congressional hearing and then refused to state that calls for genocide against Jews violated its policy. Donors pulled their money, firms threatened to strip recruitments, and now some students are questioning their interests in elite institutions such as Harvard.
"For over two decades, we’ve raised concerns about this issue… and it appears that now, finally, our warnings are resonating with the wider public," Cohen said.

sometimes i lie awake at night consumed with speculation about tom's "almost" moments throughout his life. like all the times he came close to confronting his homosexuality but then chickened out at the last second. like very nearly taking a stand and pushing past the jokes from his parents to say no seriously, i don't care what anyone thinks, i wanna do ballet. maybe crushes he had on his friends and never said anything about. and the likely rare instances of other men directly flirting with him - at bars while he was at cornell, guys he had long, enjoyable talks with and barely realized that he himself was flirting until the invitation came, and the excitement too, but the rapid subsequent fear and hasty rejection he had to give, the extra shots he had to pound back in order to forget about it. maybe even getting pushed back further into the closet depending on just how forward or how much older the other guy was, proceeding to associate notions of his own sexuality with that terrified anticipation of the unknown at the very least, and the sense of being the prey of some old pervert at worst... and after he got out of college too, prior to working at waystar, i have to think he might've had some close calls with the closet door during that period of time just bc of the sudden freedom + being in nyc. but getting a job at essentially fox news probably sealed it and getting close to shiv especially did
#tom wambsgans#mine#hc#tom#thinking of that post that compares tom to the hanged man card. and him being suspended in time#i imagine him having been suspended in time like that. pathologically terrified of change. his entire life

An Evening with Darren Criss by CUPB Cornell University Program Board
Sat, Apr 13, 2024 5 PM – 6 PM EDT (GMT-4) Statler Hall
Join the Cornell Program Board and the Cornell Asian Pacific Student Union for an exclusive Q&A event featuring the multi-talented Darren Criss! Happening on Saturday, April 13th at 5 pm in Statler Hall this event is an insightful conversation with the Emmy-winning actor, singer, and songwriter.
Since bursting onto the pop-culture landscape over a decade ago in Fox’s hit TV show GLEE, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Darren Criss has embodied the kind of kaleidoscopic artistry that’s entirely uninhibited by form or genre. For this concert, Darren will be performing well known songs featured throughout his wildly eclectic career as both a songwriter and performer, including those from Glee, Starkid and the Broadway shows he’s starred in.
Before Darren Criss exploded into the internet’s subculture as both an actor and songwriter for the YouTube viral hit A Very Potter Musical in 2009, he had made a small name for himself playing unique interpretations of popular songs he’d perform at cafes and bars in his hometown of San Francisco. Little did he know that the same knack for covering tunes would serve him well in 2010, when he was cast on FOX’s massively successful musical series Glee, from which many of his performances of popular songs would lead to several Billboard-topping records. In 2015 his songwriting also landed an Emmy nomination for Best Original Music and Lyrics, from penning the song “This Time” for the show’s series finale. Criss has continued to write and produce music extensively through the years, whether for his own releases as an artist or as a songwriter for theater, film & television. In 2019 Criss created, executive produced, starred in, and provided all the original songs for his short-form musical comedy series Royalties, and earlier this year provided the music & lyrics for the opening number of the 2022 Tony Awards: Act One. As an artist, he most recently delivered a genre-diverse collection of "character-driven" singles as part of his 2021 solo EP titled “Masquerade” (BMG) , and in the same year, released a full-length Christmas album titled- aptly- A Very Darren Crissmas (Decca).
As an actor, Criss is a veteran of the stage whose Broadway credits include the titular role of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2015), How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (2012), and the most recent 2022 revival of David Mamet’s seminal play American Buffalo alongside Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell. In 2018 his work in Ryan Murphy’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story received wide critical acclaim, earning him a Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Critics’ Choice Award. He was most recently seen starring in Netflix’s hit series Hollywood, for which he also served as executive producer.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear from one of Hollywood's brightest stars and engage in meaningful dialogue about his career, influences, and future projects. Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable event!

Cornel Wilde (born Kornél Lajos Weisz; October 13, 1912 – October 16, 1989) was a Hungarian-American actor and filmmaker. Wilde's acting career began in 1935, when he made his debut on Broadway. In 1936 he began making small, uncredited appearances in films. By the 1940s he had signed a contract with 20th Century Fox, and by the mid-1940s he was a major leading man.
