four. favorite older teen character? robin!! i used to prefer steve because he used to be my favorite character but now i prefer robin. she is me, i am her.

nineteen. jancy or ronance? i prefer both! endgame wise i'd probably choose ronance but i know that they were never going to happen so i'm perfectly fine with jancy endgame :) they're too cute to throw away

twenty-four. opinion on the new characters eddie, vickie and argyle so far? i love all of them! i think vickie and argyle are really underrated and i wish vickie had more screentime. argyle was a fun addition to cali gang and he's actually really useful. i love eddie and when i first watched season four he was one of my favorite characters, but as time went on and the fact that his death was obvious, i started not caring for him as much. he is pretty overrated and st*ddie's have ruined him quite a bit but i don't mind him

forty-two. opinions on the wheeler family? i love them!!! all of them except ted. we do not talk about ted wheeler. i think karen is okay, but the b*lly thing made me lose interest in her. holly is nice, but i don't really have an opinion on her since she has barely any screen-time. nancy, i loooove nancy. if you have a thing against nancy then get off my page. same with mike, if you're an anti-mike wheeler then i don't want to speak with you <3

#Knock The Book 2: The Devil All the Time

WELL, I MADE IT TO THE 2nd BOOK REVIEW OF MINE, MEANS THAT I’M A PASSIONATE AND PERSISTENT BITCH, PERIODT. No actually I’m just bored and got really nothing to do, so here I am making judgmental, invalid and uncritical book review just to ease my guilt for doing nothing at home (just so my mom see me working through my laptop).

Okay The Devil All the Time is actually my first English book. The story of how I got this book as a matter of fact is quite irritating and funny at the same time. My uni friend, she saw this book in a modest book bazaar near her hometown. She was reading the title and the word ‘devil’ just remind her of me, she bought it and just gave it straight to me…... I’m sad but like thankful???

It’s a secondhand and hardcover book but I don’t really mind, considering the fact that the quality is still very nice though, except the worn spots stained all over the cover that make the book looks very old. My friend bought this only for RP 25.000, yes dude you’re not misread this shit, it was THAT CHEAP (whoever sell and own this book before me, I really appreciate it). Although if you want to buy the new one, you can get this book for USD 26.95 which converted in rupiah would be RP 407.500, yeah its cost pretty fancy for broke students like us and I don’t know if the book’s supposed to be available in your local bookstore but I think you can find it in worldwide shipping online store like amazon or any other shop perhaps. The book’s cover illustrate a dying white mutt hanging on the ‘log’ and bunch of cross everywhere, the cover is actually make sense when you read the book. It published in 2011 by doubleday in United States of America. The Author is Donald Ray Pollock, and you can find the sum information about his background written on the cover, but based form the book’s cover you can also check his website in donaldraypollock.com but when I checked, I’m not sure if it’s really his website since it just like pest control website (LMAOO I HAD NO IDEA FR). Anyway,

Let’s go breaking down the book!

The whole story in this book, basically give you portraits regarding the life of lunatics in the time after WWII. Nope, there is no sums up about the events happened in that moment so chill y’all non-historical enthusiast bitches. This book gonna give you a bizarre experience reading it, the first 10 pages of this book was already psychedelic, I assure that shit. Have you watched Games of Thrones series on HBO? It’s chilling right how Ned Stark, the protagonist of the main series died in the first season???? EXACTLY that was the vibes u got after reading the first chapter and get crazier every time u read forward. By the way, this book embodied 7 chapters and 55 sub-chapters, the chapter in odd and even numbers has 2 different main focuses on each characteristic exist, here I sum it up for you:

On the odd numbers chapters (1, 3, and so on), the central story of these chapters is circling among the family of Willard Russel, his Mom Emma and Uncle Earskell and also those 2 insane peeps Roy Laferty and Theodore. Willard Russel used to be a navy army and a bit skeptical dealing with religion issues just like his uncle, but his mom has always been a devoted worshiper. Willard married to the beautiful and kind-hearted women named Charlotte and they was given a son named Arvin Eugene Russel, everything was normal until Charlotte got sick and Willard gone crazy praying to god for his wife’s recovery and poor little Arvin has to suffer the predicament by his own self. Their stories always give me religious-fanaticism-gloomy vibes (is that even make sense??). Don’t even get me started with the life stories of the two brutes-ass man, Roy Laferty and Theodore they were used to be ‘preacher’ in Emma and young Willard’s Church. Nothing I could say further because it’s gonna be a major spoiler for you, but their stories really giving you insights of how frustration and fanaticism allow people to do something beyond their common sense.

On the even numbers chapters (2, 4, and so on), the main tales is pertaining on the journey of Handerson couple, Carl and Sandy. They were like the Bonnie and Clyde but sad and exploitative version in this book. Carl is a ‘photographer’ and sandy working as a waitress in a café called Wooden Spoon (Which the place where Charlotte used to work as a waitress and the place she met Willard for the first time as well). During summertime they got this ‘ritual’ ((but not in a religious way)) where they drive to different states and give a ride to the hitchhikers found on the way, then Carl forcefully offer them to fuck Sandy for free (HIS OWN WIFE) while he took pictures of them fucking and after that Carl kill them and take all the money those hitchhikers got in their pocket (dude I can’t even judge anything). But to be honest, I’m not a fan of these two characters because they were all so ANNOYING to death. And then there is Bodecker Lee who’s a police and also Sandy’s brother, ok that’s it, I’m not gonna give you any spoilers.

You might be confused since there are quite a lot of keen characters in this book but there’s a point where all these bitches are relating to each other, so chill y’all impatient gripe-ass. Overall, the flow of the story is undoubtedly interesting for you to keep going throughout the whole story, because every phase gonna make you wondering about next things happened to them. But, the transitions among every chapters is quite uncomfortable for me, because sometimes when the story has reached its climax there is no resolutions coming to solve the problem immediately, and you’re faced to read the new chapter with a whole different setting and characters so it’s kind of ruining the vibes and emotions the book has made me, but again this just my personal preference so please don’t judge (while everything I did right now is judging inaccurately).

However, what I like the most from this book is the deepening of every character exists is so fascinating, even for just the side or supporting character (for god sake I’m sorry idk what to called a character that isn’t the main one), for example a bus driver in Meade, Ohio which Willard talked to when he was on the way home after the war ended, the narration wrapped and portraits the driver’s life perfectly without make us bored, and there’s still a bunch of interesting narration about the life of the side characters in this book that also as odds and intriguing as the main character’s background (jesus, everything happened and everyone in this book is just so strange and peculiar I swear to god). The story finished in a most tragic-beautiful but still gloomy way, even though it’s quite predictable but still a very good closing for me personally. To be noted, on the way to the end of the story, there will be emerge another asshole priest character named Preston Teagardin, ready to shake you up until you finish the book. But still, let’s said this particular ‘last minute character’ has proving that the author is paying so much attention of how the story ended isn’t leaving any 'rush-made' impression (this shit might confused you I’m sorry my English hasn’t got any better *sorry hand sign* *sorry hand sign* *sorry hand sign*). # hashtag attention to the detail bro.

Holy crap, that’s the first time I’m almost able to cut all the bullshit I intend to bring it up here.

This book is one of my top 5 books that you have to read once in a life time (although I haven’t discover the other four, omg im sorry y’all). Little information for you that the first time I read this book (yeah I read it for quite few times) is when the campaign of presidential election era, which in Indonesia the religious are pretty sentimental issues, some of the people in my country suddenly became those annoying fanatical preachers, man I can’t stand it. And this book is just precisely relating to that condition and I get to know at least a glance of what the heck odds things happened in their minds, since you know fanaticism and stupidity doesn’t hit only on particular group of religions, race, gender or anything, we can all be stupid and brainless (especially me because I basically have no brain). There probably quite many scenes that is pretty disturbing to read (I don’t know if people could be triggered by it???? But I guess so) so yeah a bit warning. Overall, I genuinely recommend this book for you guys because every element in this book is almost perfect, the storylines, bold characters, and the RARE AND STRANGE AND SENSITIVE topic promote by the author in this novel is totally a BOOM. Don’t worry reading this book not going to give you those agnostic and atheist vibes HAHA chill I still consider myself a devoted Muslim tho (hashtag masyaallah ukthi).

By the way before I wrapped it up, I hear that this book will be made into a netflix film. WELL, of course I’m excited because the casts are so amazing, and I love Netflix adaptation and I enjoy watch movies as much as I read books (again, unnecessary information of mine *sorry hand sign*). I found that the release date is postponed from the origin plan in 15th May (which is three days ago from I posted this on my page) due to I don’t know perhaps corona because that bitch has ruined everyone in the world’s schedule, but for real I can’t find the exact information regarding to the updated release date, so while you wait the film to launch, why don’t you just go read the book first? I assure you this one not gonna give you any disappointment.

I think that would be it for this 2nd rubbish book review of mine. Although, I think I made a little progressive from the first one (OR MAYBE NOT???? I’M SORRY Y’ALL) but of course there’s still much deficiency I served. Still, I hope my writing get better in the process of making this whole novel of reviewing book inaccurately. To be honest, I wrote this shit not for getting any engagements or audience but for my own satisfied HAHA. So yeah I’m literally comfortable writing for nothing. hello!!! i’m tori (18, she/her, ACDT) and this is my lil baby alana aka ember. she’s still very new so please bare with me for a bit while i find my footing with her hehe but im so so excited to start rping with her and all of you! enough of me rambling, here’s alana:

BEFORE LOGGING IN

Alana didn’t have a particularly eventful childhood, though her family’s financial situation was tighter than most. Raised by her single mother, Alana spent a lot of her childhood with friends rather than family, her mother working long hours to make sure there was food on the table every night. Because of their limited finances, Alana and her mother did not have large holiday or birthday celebrations, but they were grateful for what they had.

Alana dropped out of high school a few weeks into her junior year, at the age of sixteen. Her mother wasn’t making enough to pay the rising bills, so Alana got a job as a cashier at the local supermarket. She moved out when she was eighteen, working three jobs (her cashier position, a waitressing job at the cafe around the corner, and an admin position in a real estate agent’s) to pay for her tiny flat and help her mother out. She knew she wanted to do bigger things than file papers all day, but she didn’t have time to think about what that would be, exactly – too busy working. Alana’s gruelling amount of hours also meant she didn’t have time for friends, she only had her mother.

After a lot of saving and scraping together tips, Alana managed to purchase Velia so she could escape from her reality of work and debt and 15 hours days for even a little bit.

AFTER LOGGING IN

When Ember first started playing the game, she was quick to join a guild, knowing there was strength in numbers. The close-knit community of Catalyst called to her with promises of protection and loyalty, a community she didn’t have outside of Velia. And for a while things were good.

She left Catalyst when she witnessed a guild-mate, her friend, commit a sleep player kill on a solo player. All the protection offered to her by Catalyst – a group she considered her family after so much time in the game – was not worth the deaths of defenceless people just to gain better weapons for the guild. Ember stood in the shadows, watching in shock as her friend killed the innocent. Sure, she’d done some morally grey things in the game (hadn’t they all?) but she was no longer able to turn a blind eye to Catalyst’s unnecessary cruelty. She packed her bag that night and escaped into the shadows. She’s worked mostly alone ever since.

Having honed her stealth and night vision to a sharp and threatening point, Ember has always been ready when other players have come after her. Her status as a prominent weapons merchant makes her a highly desired target for those not willing to pay her prices, but she hasn’t let a single weapon leave her person without… fair payment… thus far.

Ember's general strategic gameplay has been allowing the oh so heroic guild members to fight the major boss battles, while she sneaks around the side, launching sneak attacks on mob monsters. However, being a solo player means Ember has no one watching her back, so she splits her time between fighting enemy lines and looting shops, guilds or other solo players (whatever or whoever she can find, really) for weapons, clothes and supplies. You can’t always be the hero when you’re too busy watching your own back.

The only thing that seems to crack Ember’s strong exterior is her leopard mount, Eira. The animal brings out a soft, open side to her seen by no one else. Eira is the one thing Ember’s deathly afraid of losing in the game.

Unlike most, Ember isn’t in a rush to escape Velia. All that’s waiting for her back home is debt and the responsibility of putting food on the table, after all.

PERSONALITY

Life before Velia turned Alana into a cynic – wishes don’t just come true, you have to work and work and work.

When she logged on to Velia and joined Catalyst, Alana finally learned to lean on someone else and let others help provide for her. That’s why it hurt so much more when her friend committed the sleep player kill – the very people she thought she could depend on were capable of abusing power to such a horrific extent. And better believe she holds onto a grudge like it’s her lifeline.

Alana's experience in Catalyst hardened her. As a solo player, she became even tougher and more selfish than she was in real life. You won’t get any handouts from her.

She's pretty brazen (some might even say careless) in her battles. She doesn’t really care if she doesn’t make it out of the game.

If Alana lets you call her by her real name rather than her username, you know you’ve gained her trust. She doesn’t give it out easily.

(And she absolutely won’t hesitate to try and swindle you in a bargain.)

the beautiful person's journal - #2: intros and outros!

so in my last entry, i discussed the channel's graphic design history and all its ups and downs. i was going to talk about the channel's intro as well, but the post was getting too long! so i decided to save this topic for the next entry. this entry will talk about the caddicarus show's intro, other shows will be discussed in another entry.

and yes...this means that i am going graphic designer brain on y'all once AGAIN!

so! all the different eras/generations of caddicarus fans have had different experiences. whether it's how the channel looked, what video you first watched, what house/room the shows were filmed in, what hairstyle jim had...it depends on which era you came from!

but two things that unite us all, regardless of eras, are the intro...and caddy's about page.

"subscribe" written with unicode letters has been in the description for quite possibly as long as the channel has existed! it's like a historical monument!

but back on the topic of intros - the glorious "caddicaruuusss!" choir has been a part of the intro since the totally angelica episode, which only came about four months after the caddicarus show started. since then, it's stayed in all new iterations of the intro. another element that has always stayed is the fact that at least one explosion occurs.

i mostly compiled this because the existing youtube video with all the intros is just...very poorly made and some of the dates are wrong and i just had to make my own lol.

by compiling these intros and watching them back, you can really see the channel/show's true identity slowly developing as time goes on. it's a great representation of caddy's growth as a content creator.

at first you have this cheesy rough "heavy metal" kinda aesthetic with the wonderfully terrible cooltext logo and stock grunge background. there's the tobuscus-like "CADDICARUS!" scream. it's all put together by a 17/18-year-old who has no idea what all of this will eventually lead to. it's amazingly early 2010s in its execution.

then a few episodes later, we get that same aesthetic, but the intro is slower and we finally hear that iconic choir. this is the dark and serious intro we were all accustomed to...but then in 2016, this goofy 8-bit track comes in (composed by endigo - yes, that endigo!), somewhat clashing with the aesthetic. then a few months later, there's this equally-as-goofy logo that comes in, with the beginning "gong" noise, grunge background and explosions and wear and tear and whatnot still intact.

then in 2017 - with the new background and the removal of the beginning gong noise and "woosh" that leads into the logo - there's finally a bit of stylistic unity again, albeit with the same effects and explosions still there.

then in 2018 - the intro finally receives a major overhaul that harkens back to the days of CRT TVs, and i really loved this particular intro when it was released. the intro was different for every episode depending on the topic and the console, and the channel numbers on the top right were counting down from 3 with each channel change! i used to say "come on down to channel zero" when recruiting potential new beautiful people online in 2018 LMAOO. i also had that beginning click as my text tone for the longest damn time.

and that static-y transition from the intro into the show was so satisfying. while season 10 was one of my least favorite seasons of the old series, the intro was great.

this intro stayed through seasons 11-13, but with slight alterations. one of the channels was now reserved for the hidden block intro (which was already becoming kinda obsolete by that point...EGLX 2018 was pretty much the finale of HB), replacing the channel used for the topic/game of the episode. and the transition from intro to show was now the TV being switched off, which was kinda cool, but it wasn't as cool as that static! >:( then by the season 12 finale, the intro was shortened even more, with it only featuring the blue screen at channel 9 this time before changing to channel 0 with the logo. this was also when the social media plugs were integrated into the intros.

now - onto the new series!

in 2020 the intro gets rid of the CRT TV filter and channel changing, only becoming three seconds with one singular firework. the logo spins around like it's a damn early 2000s nickelodeon ident and i love it. and i'm honestly glad that the retina-burning pink from the channel banner at the time only ever stayed in the banner because with how fast the background moves in this intro, having it in that color would've done a number on my eyes...

the intro describes the tone of the series well, we don't need anything else, it can't be improved on...

...or can it?

2021 brought my favorite caddicarus intro ever!! i already told y'all in the last entry why i love littlemisschii's branding so much, and this intro is no exception. it wonderfully sums up the show in just four seconds! here's this goofy british man and- oh god his head exploded!

even though it's such a small detail, i ADORE how the logo comes to life with all the syllables falling onto the controller. the animation on caddy is gorgeous as well!

then, in 2022, the show's identity truly comes together with a brand new jingle. while endigo's 8-bit jingle from 2016-21 is iconic and nostalgic, tee lopes' recomposed intro is a much better representation of what games caddy is known for reviewing. caddy grew up with PS1 games, so the usage of 8-bit themes in the intro contradicts with that. this new intro seems to mostly resemble tombi's OST with a little bit of crash thrown in. and i love how there's this super snazzy halftone fade-in and that the logo bounces in! even the social media plug has a cool transition effect.

and yet…after all the adversity and changes...the choir from 2012 is still intact. god, i love this.

i don't have as much to say about the outros, but that first one stayed for a very damn long time. nearly 8 years!!! i remember finding out when the outro was first removed back in 2020 and i mourned its removal. i remember HATING the new outro lol. but after i started watching the new series i grew to kinda like it! and then there's the 2021 outro...which, if you don't know, was taken from...

the cinemaggots intro!

i like this outro the most out of the two we've had this decade. although i can literally not hear it without the deep piano note playing in my head followed by "C I N E M A G G O T S"

i also remember when caddicarus outros would last like 2-3 minutes. i remember during like seasons 5-7 there'd be the video's sponsor (back when the sponsors were serious and boring and not spoken by a trademarked legally stipulated kite), followed by the "ay ay ay ay subscribe", followed by an end card with either a minute of outtakes or caddy speaking. now we just get the short outro, some groovy ass tunes, and stan's segment. how times have changed. but caddy...please bring back outtakes! that's one thing you should bring back!
