Since Adam Schlesinger passed this week, wanted to share my all time favorite Fountians of Wayne song:

I first heard this song when I saw them in concert opening for Smashing Pumpkins back in the late 90’s (and Fountians of Wayne were a thousand times better than Smashing Pumpkins live, just for the record)

Katy Perry - Hackensack

Fountains Of Wayne have written some really great songs, this is one of them. I really can't imagine how Katy Perry convinced folks to let her put this achy, anthem of longing into her Unplugged set, but I'm really glad that it worked out. Lyrically, the song states things plainly and succinctly, and the tone and the delivery do most of the work, painting a dour picture of lost love. This particular version has some nice orchestration and the guitars sound fantastic.
