The night is amassed with shadows, the kind that seem to creep from every corner, swallowing the light, until only a faint glimmer of moonlight filters through the cracks in the curtains. The air in your chamber is heavy, stifling, clinging to your skin like a second layer, and you toss restlessly in your bed, caught between sleep and wakefulness. The events of the day have left a mark deeper than any wound, a scar on your very soul, and even in sleep, you find no escape from them.
The dream begins innocuously enough—an echo of familiar places and faces. The Red Keep looms before you, its towers stretching into a sky darkened with storm clouds. You walk through its halls, but something is wrong. The walls seem to shift, to warp around you as if the castle itself were alive, breathing, watching. You pass a mirror, and in it, you see yourself, but your reflection's eyes are not your own—they are molten gold, like the eyes of the dragon that hatched from your blood.
Then the voices begin, disembodied whispers that slither into your mind like vipers.
"Make the tallow from the fat of a hangman."
You spin around, searching for the source, but the corridor is empty, save for the flickering shadows that dance along the walls. Your heart pounds, a drumbeat of fear, as the whispers grow louder, more insistent.
"Sealed with the kiss of swine."
The words curl around you, filling your ears, your head, until they are all you can hear. They are followed by images—horrifying, grotesque images that sear themselves into your mind. You see a man, faceless and featureless, his body twisting and contorting as if consumed by fire, and beside him, a grotesque beast with the head of a pig and the wings of a dragon.
"Whishes and words sprout from the same seed."
The final whisper is the most haunting, carrying with it a truth you cannot yet comprehend. You feel a pull, a deep, visceral pull, towards something—or someone—just beyond your reach. The air around you crackles with heat, with the scent of burning flesh, and you realize with a start that you are no longer in the Red Keep but in the throne room. The Iron Throne looms before you, and at its base lies the dragon, your dragon, with its golden eyes fixed on you. There is a chain around its neck, heavy and cruel, and as you step closer, you see that it is not just a chain—it is a part of you, binding you to the beast, to the throne, to your father’s madness.
You try to scream, to pull away, but the chain tightens, digging into your flesh, and the dragon roars, a sound that shakes the very foundations of the dream.
With a gasp, you wake, bolting upright in your bed. Your heart races, pounding against your ribcage as if it might burst free at any moment. Your skin is slick with sweat, your hands trembling as they clutch the sheets. It takes a moment for the familiar surroundings of your chamber to come into focus, for reality to assert itself over the lingering terror of the dream.
But the fear does not dissipate; it clings to you, wrapping around your bones like a cold, suffocating shroud. You cannot shake the feeling that the dream was not just a product of your mind, but something more—a premonition, a warning. You fear that you are now bound to your father’s madness in ways you cannot yet understand.
The door to your chamber creaks open, and you instinctively reach for the dagger hidden beneath your pillow. But it is only Arthur, his face drawn with concern as he steps into the room, the soft glow of a candle casting shadows across his features.
"Y/N," he says softly, his voice a balm to your frayed nerves. He crosses the room in a few long strides and kneels by your bedside, reaching out to brush a strand of damp hair from your face. "You cried out in your sleep. What happened?"
You stare at him, struggling to find the words. How can you explain the horrors you witnessed in your dream? How can you tell him of the chain that binds you, of the dragon’s eyes that haunt you?
"It was just a dream," you say finally, though the words feel hollow, a poor attempt to convince yourself more than him. "But it felt… so real."
Arthur’s hand cups your cheek, his thumb brushing gently across your skin. There is something in his eyes, a sadness, a fear that mirrors your own. He knows the weight you carry, the burden of your bloodline, and it tears at him as much as it does you.
"You are stronger than any dream, Y/N," he says, his voice firm yet gentle. "Whatever darkness your father has unleashed, it will not claim you. I won’t let it."
His words should comfort you, but the fear lingers, gnawing at the edges of your mind. You close your eyes, leaning into his touch, drawing strength from the warmth of his hand, the steady beat of his heart. But even as he holds you, a part of you cannot shake the feeling that something has changed, that the dragon now bound in chains is not the only one tethered to the Iron Throne.
"And the dragon?" you whisper, your voice barely audible. "What of him?"
Arthur hesitates, and in that moment, you see the truth in his eyes. He knows as well as you do that the dragon is not just a creature born of fire and blood, but something more—something that ties you inexorably to your father’s will.
"He is strong," Arthur replies after a moment, his voice laced with the same uncertainty that plagues your own thoughts. "But he is yours, Y/N, not your father’s. Remember that."
You nod, though doubt still lingers in your heart. You can feel the pull of the dragon, the bond forged in blood, and you wonder if it is a bond you will ever truly break.
Arthur pulls you close then, wrapping his arms around you as if he could shield you from the darkness that stands on the horizon. You rest your head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart, and for a moment, you allow yourself to believe that he might be right, that you might be able to defy the fate that seems to be tightening its grip around you.
But deep down, you know that the dragon has awakened something within you, something that cannot be so easily silenced. And as you drift back to sleep in Arthur’s arms, you can’t help but wonder if that something is the same madness that has consumed your father—or if it is something far, far worse.
The echo of Rhaegar’s footsteps resonates through the darkened corridors of the Red Keep, each step a reminder of the burden weighing heavily on his shoulders. The scent of wildfire still lingers faintly in the air, mingling with the stale, musty odor that always seemed to cling to the throne room and its cursed Iron Throne. Rhaegar pauses before the door, taking a moment to steady his breath, knowing full well the volatility that could await him on the other side.
The door creaks open, revealing King Aerys II sitting at a large wooden table, papers strewn about, and a goblet of wine in his hand. His hair, once silver like the moon, now hangs in greasy strands, framing a face etched with madness but, at this moment, unusually calm. His eyes, however, still gleam with the dangerous fire that had consumed him over the years, a fire that now burned brighter with the hatching of the dragon.
"Father," Rhaegar begins, his voice soft, measured. He steps into the room, closing the door quietly behind him. Aerys does not immediately acknowledge him, his gaze fixed on the flames crackling in the hearth. Rhaegar can feel the tension in the air, the precarious balance of his father’s mind. He must tread carefully.
"Rhaegar, my son," Aerys finally speaks, his voice surprisingly even. "Have you come to see our child? My dragon... our creation?" The king's voice carries an unsettling blend of pride and possessiveness, his eyes shifting to meet Rhaegar's with an intensity that makes his son’s heart tighten.
Rhaegar inclines his head slightly. "I have, Father. The dragon is a magnificent creature, a symbol of House Targaryen’s strength, of our blood." He chooses his words carefully, keeping his tone respectful. "But it is not just the dragon that concerns me."
Aerys narrows his eyes, suspicion flickering across his features. "What concerns you, my son? The dragon is ours by right. It will be the weapon that ensures our enemies bow before us."
Rhaegar takes a breath, steadying himself. "It is Y/N that concerns me, Father," he says, his voice steady but laced with concern. "She is still weak from the ritual, and Pycelle says her wounds will take time to heal. She needs rest, care. We cannot risk her health, not when she is so important to us… to you."
Aerys’s gaze sharpens at the mention of you. "She is important, yes. More important than any of them realize," he murmurs, his voice taking on a dangerous edge. "She brought forth the dragon. She is its mother, its rightful queen. No harm must come to her, do you hear me?"
Rhaegar nods, carefully concealing his relief that, for now, Aerys seems focused on your well-being. "Of course, Father. No harm will come to her, I swear it. But she needs time away from the chaos of the court, away from prying eyes and those who might seek to use her or the dragon for their own ends."
Aerys frowns, suspicion clouding his features once more. "What are you suggesting, Rhaegar? That she be hidden away? That she be kept from me?"
"No, Father," Rhaegar says quickly. "I would never suggest such a thing. Only that she be allowed to recover in peace. Perhaps at Dragonstone, where she can be close to her dragon but away from the eyes of those who might seek to control her... or it."
The mention of Dragonstone seems to catch Aerys’s interest, and Rhaegar seizes the opportunity. "Dragonstone is a place of power, a place where our ancestors ruled and raised their dragons. It would be fitting for Y/N to be there, with the dragon, away from the prying eyes of the court. There, she can grow stronger, and the dragon can be raised in the safety and secrecy it deserves."
Aerys considers this for a long moment, his eyes flickering with the flames of the hearth. "Dragonstone," he muses, the word rolling off his tongue as if tasting its possibilities. "Yes… yes, it is a place of power. She will be safe there. But I must see the dragon, must know that it is truly ours."
Rhaegar bows his head. "Of course, Father. The dragon will be brought to you, but it must be done carefully, slowly. It is still young, still growing. It needs time, as does Y/N."
Aerys nods, seemingly satisfied with this answer. "Yes, yes, you are right, my son. But remember this, Rhaegar," he says, his voice suddenly cold, his eyes locking onto his son's with a ferocity that makes Rhaegar’s blood run cold. "She is mine. The dragon is mine. They are my legacy. Do not forget that."
Rhaegar swallows, his throat dry. "I will not forget, Father."
Aerys's gaze lingers on him for a moment longer before he turns his attention back to the fire, dismissing Rhaegar with a wave of his hand. "Go now. Ensure that my dragon is well cared for. And see to it that Y/N is taken to Dragonstone, where she will be safe... and where she will remember her place."
Rhaegar bows low, retreating from the room with a sense of urgency. Once outside, he allows himself a breath of relief, though the weight of his father's obsession with you and the dragon still presses heavily on his chest. He must speak with Arthur, ensure that you are protected, hidden away from the madness that now grips Aerys.
As he walks back through the dimly lit corridors, his mind is consumed with thoughts of you—of your safety, of the secret you share with Ser Arthur Dayne. Rhaegar knows he must act swiftly, for the shadow of his father’s madness is long and ever-reaching, and it is only a matter of time before it threatens to engulf you both.
The salty breeze tugs at your hair as you stand on the edge of the harbor, the morning sun glinting off the choppy waters of Blackwater Bay. The sight of the ship bobbing gently at anchor fills you with a sense of unease, the iron cage being carefully loaded onto its deck a pogient reminder of the strange and terrible events that have led you here. Inside the cage, your dragon, the one born of death, lets out a low, restless growl. His golden eyes, now a little larger, still burning with the same fierce intelligence that haunts your dreams. You feel a strange pull in your chest, as though something within you is tethered to the creature, a bond that tightens with every beat of your heart.
Your hand instinctively rises to your chest, pressing against the spot where you can feel the faintest echo of warmth, as if your own blood still burns with the wildfire that hatched the dragon. The world around you seems distant, your focus narrowing to the creature in the cage, to the strange connection you share. A soft, persistent whisper at the back of your mind urges you to draw closer, to reach out and touch the iron bars that keep him confined, but the sound of approaching footsteps pulls you back to reality.
"Y/N," Rhaegar’s voice is gentle but firm, grounding you. He appears beside you, his presence solid and reassuring amidst the swirling chaos of your thoughts. His arm slips around your shoulders, pulling you into a comforting embrace. The warmth of his touch dispels the strange pull you felt toward the dragon, anchoring you firmly in the present.
"You will be safe at Dragonstone," Rhaegar murmurs, his breath warm against your ear. "I wish I could go with you, but I will see you again soon. I promise." He pulls back slightly, his violet eyes searching yours for any sign of distress. "And I will make sure our father remains... distracted for as long as possible."
You nod, though words seem to fail you in the face of all that has happened. The sight of the dragon, your dragon, being locked away, the very creature that should have been a symbol of your family's strength, instead treated as a dangerous secret to be hidden away—it all weighs heavily on your mind.
Before you can voice your concerns, another presence joins you. Queen Rhaella, your mother, approaches, her face pale but composed, as if she has steeled herself for what is to come. Her gaze is tender as she looks at you, though it is clouded with the same sorrow that has shadowed her for years. "Y/N, Rhaegar," she says softly, her voice carrying the weight of a mother’s love and the pain of long-endured suffering.
"Mother," Rhaegar greets her with a bow of his head, stepping back to allow her to stand beside you.
Rhaella’s hand finds yours, squeezing it gently. "Aerys has allowed me to accompany you to Dragonstone," she says, her voice tinged with both relief and resignation. "He... he sees no use for me here any longer."
The words hang in the air, a bitter reminder of how far your father has fallen, how little regard he holds for those who were once dearest to him. Rhaella’s gaze flickers to the dragon in its cage, a flash of fear and sadness passing over her features before she turns back to Rhaegar. "Take care of yourself, my son," she says, her voice wavering slightly. "You carry the hopes of our house."
Rhaegar nods, his expression softening. "And you carry its future," he replies, his gaze lingering on you. "This is likely temporary, as you well know. Father will not be content to let you remain away from him for long. And when the time comes... the small council's debate may soon become more than mere words. Our marriage may no longer be just a possibility, Y/N."
Your heart tightens at his words. The idea of marrying Rhaegar has always been one tangled with duty, obligation, and the preservation of your house. Yet, there is another side to this—a secret part of you that yearns for someone else, for Ser Arthur Dayne, whose presence you can feel even now, standing at a respectful distance near the Queen’s retinue.
Your gaze drifts to where Ser Arthur waits, his expression unreadable beneath the shadow of his helm, though his eyes—those familiar, intense eyes—never leave you. Beside him, Ser Lewyn Martell stands ready, prepared to accompany you and your mother to Dragonstone. The two of them, Arthur especially, have been your protectors in more ways than one, and you feel a sense of calm knowing they will be by your side during this exile.
But before you can take a step toward them, a sudden shift in the atmosphere halts you. The harbor grows quiet, the bustling activity of sailors and dockworkers falling away as Aerys, your father, arrives with the Kingsguard and his entourage. The sight of him makes your blood run cold, the sharp contrast between the man he once was and the mad king he has become all too clear in the daylight.
Aerys’s presence is unsettling, a mix of unpredictability and danger that makes everyone around him tense, as though they are all walking on the edge of a knife. You straighten your posture, reminding yourself not to show any sign of weakness, any sign that might provoke him into changing his mind about letting you go.
Your mother, however, is less successful in hiding her fear. As Aerys approaches, she takes a small step back, her eyes lowering to the ground, her entire demeanor shrinking as though trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible. You sense her anxiety, feel it in the way her hand trembles in yours before she quickly releases her grip, folding her hands in front of her as she stares at the ground.
"Y/N, you are my daughter, my blood. The mother of my dragon.” Aerys croons, his voice unexpectedly warm, though there is a manic edge to it that makes your skin crawl. He steps closer, his eyes—once sharp and clear—now filled with the flames of his own madness. Without warning, he leans in and presses a kiss to your forehead, the touch of his lips cold and unsettling.
As soon as his lips make contact, a voice—a dark, twisted whisper—echoes in your mind, repeating the words from the nightmare that has plagued you ever since the ritual: "Sealed with the kiss of swine."
The words send a shiver down your spine, and for a moment, the world seems to tilt, the harbor, the ship, the dragon, all fading into the background as the voice reverberates through your thoughts. But you force yourself to remain still, to show no sign of the terror that grips you.
Aerys pulls back, his smile unsettling as he examines your face as though searching for something only he can see. "Remember, my child, the dragon is ours—yours and mine. We are bound by fire and blood."
You manage a stiff nod, your voice catching in your throat. "Yes, Father," you reply, keeping your tone as even as possible.
Before Aerys can say anything further, Tywin Lannister steps forward, his eyes gleaming with that cold calculation that always unnerved you. "Safe travels, my lady," he says, offering you a bow that seems more like a formality than a genuine gesture of respect.
As he straightens, the voice in your mind returns, louder this time, dripping with malice: "It has two mouths to lick from."
The words almost make you recoil, but you manage to keep your composure, nodding at Tywin in acknowledgment. The tension in the air is suffocating, the weight of all that is unspoken hanging between you and everyone present. But you know this is not the time or place to question the meaning of these strange, disturbing messages. Not when so many eyes are upon you, waiting for any sign of weakness, any reason to doubt your loyalty to the crown.
Finally, with a nod from Aerys, the entourage begins to withdraw, allowing you, Rhaella, and your escorts to make your way toward the waiting ship. Rhaegar lingers for a moment longer, his gaze meeting yours, filled with a mixture of worry and determination.
"This will not be forever," he says quietly, his voice meant only for your ears. "I will do everything in my power to protect you, to bring you back safely."
You nod, though the certainty in his words does little to quell the unease that churns within you. As you turn to follow your mother and the Kingsguard toward the ship, your gaze once again finds Arthur. His presence, as always, brings a small measure of comfort, even as the weight of the future presses heavily on your shoulders.
But as you step onto the gangplank, the whisper in your mind returns once more, a final chilling reminder of the darkness that shadows your path: "Two mouths, one kiss."
You force the voice back, focusing on the solidity of the wooden planks beneath your feet, the sound of the waves against the hull of the ship. Soon, you tell yourself, you will be at Dragonstone, far from the madness of King.
The wind fills the sails of the ship as it cuts through the waves, the rhythmic rise and fall of the sea a steady backdrop to the tension that hangs in the air. The sun is dipping lower in the sky, casting the waters in a warm, golden hue, but the beauty of the scene does little to calm the storm within you. You stand on the deck, your gaze fixed on the iron cage where your dragon, your bond, waits restlessly.
The creature paces within the confines of its prison, its golden eyes flicking toward you with an almost knowing look, as if it can sense your inner turmoil, the conflict between duty and the strange, irresistible pull that has been growing ever stronger since you first laid eyes on it.
Beside you, Ser Arthur Dayne stands silently, his presence a comforting weight, a reminder that you are not alone in this. His silver armor gleams in the fading light, the sword at his side a symbol of the protection he has always offered you, even in the most dire of circumstances. Behind you, your mother, Queen Rhaella, stands with Ser Lewyn Martell and a handful of retainers, all of whom have chosen to accompany you and the queen on this journey to Dragonstone. Their expressions are a mix of concern and uncertainty, none of them quite sure what will happen next.
Arthur’s voice breaks the silence, soft but firm. "Are you sure about this, Y/N?"
You turn to him, meeting his gaze. The concern in his eyes is evident, but there is also a trust there, a belief in you that gives you strength. You nod, your voice steady despite the storm raging inside you. "Yes, Arthur. This is something I must do."
He studies you for a moment longer, as if searching for any sign of hesitation, but when he finds none, he nods, stepping back slightly to give you space. You take a deep breath, feeling the salt air fill your lungs, the cool breeze against your skin. The moment has come, and you know there is no turning back.
With slow, deliberate steps, you approach the iron cage. The dragon inside, still young but already formidable, stops its pacing and watches you, its golden eyes locking onto yours. The connection between you flares to life, that strange bond you share surging with intensity. You feel it in your blood, in your very soul, a pull that goes beyond words or reason.
You reach out, your fingers brushing against the cold iron bars. The dragon shifts, lowering its head slightly, as if in acknowledgment. Your heart pounds in your chest, but there is a sense of rightness in this moment, a clarity that cuts through the fear and uncertainty.
Slowly, you unlatch the cage, the metal clanging softly as you pull the door open. The dragon hesitates for just a moment, as if testing the air, before it steps out, its movements fluid and graceful. The others on the deck watch in stunned silence, the anticipation is visible as they wait to see what will happen next.
As the dragon emerges fully from the cage, it spreads its wings, shaking them out as if testing their strength. It lets out a low, rumbling growl, more a sound of satisfaction than threat, and then it turns to you, its eyes glowing with that same golden light.
You feel the bond tighten, that pull in your chest growing stronger until it is almost overwhelming. And then, suddenly, you hear it again—that voice in your mind, the one that has haunted you ever since the ritual, the one that whispered dark and terrible things. But this time, the voice is different. It is clearer, more certain, and it speaks a single word: Terrax.
The name echoes in your mind, filling you with a strange sense of completion, as if something that was always meant to be has finally fallen into place. You whisper the name aloud, your voice trembling slightly. "Terrax."
The dragon’s eyes flash, and you feel a surge of recognition, a deep, primal understanding that passes between you. This is his name, the name that binds him to you, the name that seals the bond.
Arthur steps forward cautiously, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, though his posture is more protective than threatening. "What did you say?"
"Terrax," you repeat, your voice stronger now. "That is his name."
Arthur’s gaze shifts to the dragon, his expression a mix of awe and concern. "You named him?"
You shake your head slightly, still trying to process the enormity of what just happened. "No... he named himself. I just... I just heard it."
Arthur’s brow furrows, but he does not question you further. He knows better than anyone how deeply intertwined your fate is with this creature, how the ritual that brought Terrax into the world also bound you to him in ways that neither of you fully understand.
Rhaella, who has been silent until now, steps closer, her eyes wide with both fear and wonder. "Y/N... what have you done?" she whispers, though there is no accusation in her tone, only a mother’s concern for her child.
"I’ve released him, Mother," you say, turning to face her. "I couldn’t keep him caged. He... he’s a part of me."
Rhaella’s expression softens, and she reaches out to touch your cheek, her hand trembling slightly. "You are so much like your father, in ways that both terrify and amaze me," she murmurs. "But you must be careful, Y/N. There are forces at work here that we do not fully understand."
"I know," you reply, your voice quiet but firm. "But I can’t ignore this. Terrax is mine, and I am his."
Ser Lewyn, who has been watching with wary eyes, steps forward, his voice calm but laced with concern. "Your Grace, if the dragon is to remain free, we must ensure he is properly guarded. Dragonstone is a place of power, but it is not without its dangers."
"Terrax will not be caged again," you say, your tone leaving no room for argument. "But he will not harm anyone unless provoked. I feel it... he knows who his enemies are."
Arthur exchanges a glance with Ser Lewyn, and then he nods. "We will keep him safe, Y/N. And we will keep you safe, too."
The tension eases slightly at his words, and you offer him a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Arthur."
As the ship sails on toward Dragonstone, the sun sinking lower on the horizon, you stand beside Terrax who is perched on taffrail, your hand resting on his small, scaled flank. The bond between you is stronger than ever, a living connection that pulses with the rhythm of the sea and the beat of your heart.
You are no longer just a princess of House Targaryen. You are the mother of a dragon, and your fate is now entwined with his, bound together by the ancient forces of old Valyria.
The streets of King’s Landing are alive with the hum of daily life, the scent of roasting meat and fresh bread mingling with the less pleasant odors of the bustling city. The setting sun casts long shadows across the cobblestones, painting the world in shades of gold and orange. Prince Rhaegar Targaryen walks among his people, his presence alone enough to draw hushed whispers and admiring glances from the smallfolk. His silver hair catches the light, making him appear almost otherworldly, a living embodiment of the storied Valyrian bloodline.
Though he often brings his harp on such walks, today it remains in the Red Keep, for Rhaegar’s mind is heavy with thoughts too dark and tangled to be soothed by music. At his side, Ser Barristan Selmy, the most loyal of his Kingsguard, walks with a steady, measured pace, his watchful eyes scanning the crowd. Even in the heart of the city, danger is never far, and Barristan’s duty is to ensure that no harm befalls the prince.
As they move through the narrow streets, Rhaegar can hear the murmur of conversation, snatches of talk that filter through the air like the wind. The people adore him, even now, when the shadow of his father’s madness looms large over the realm. They speak of his kindness, his wisdom, and, more recently, his possible marriage to you, his sister. The idea of such a union has stirred a mix of hope and curiosity among the smallfolk, who see it as holding true to the old ways, a reaffirmation of House Targaryen’s ancient customs.
Rhaegar’s thoughts turn to you, the sister he has sworn to protect. He pictures your face, the strength you’ve shown despite everything, and the bond you now share with the dragon. One that ties you both to the darkest aspects of your family’s legacy. He remembers Varys’s words, spoken in the shadows of the Red Keep: “If the nature of her relationship with Ser Arthur becomes known, it will not just be Aerys’s wrath you need fear, but the whispers of treason, the seeds of rebellion. Even the gods cannot save her from the court’s judgment if this becomes public knowledge.”
A chill runs through him at the thought. He knows Varys speaks the truth; the court is a nest of vipers, and the truth of your relationship with Ser Arthur would be more than enough to destroy you—and by extension, him. He cannot let that happen. He will do whatever it takes to protect you, even if it means denying his own desires.
As they turn onto a broader avenue, the crowd parts slightly, and Rhaegar catches sight of a familiar figure moving toward them. Cersei Lannister, her golden hair shining like a beacon, approaches with a small entourage of Lannister guards and retainers. She is dressed in rich red and gold, the colors of her house, and she wears a smile that is both charming and calculating.
“Prince Rhaegar,” she greets him warmly, inclining her head with just the right amount of deference. “It is a pleasure to see you out among the people. They adore you, as well they should.”
Rhaegar offers a polite nod, though his expression remains distant. “Lady Cersei. It is always a pleasure to see you.”
Cersei steps closer, her green eyes gleaming with a mixture of ambition and something else—something deeper, more personal. “I heard the most delightful rumor today,” she says, her voice smooth and honeyed. “They say that you may soon be betrothed. To your sister, Y/N. How... traditional.”
Rhaegar inclines his head slightly. “Rumors often carry more weight than truth within the walls of the Red Keep,” he replies, his tone noncommittal.
Cersei’s smile widens, though there is a hint of steel beneath the sweetness. “Perhaps. But some rumors hold the promise of great alliances. The smallfolk are not the only ones interested in your future, my prince. There are many who believe a strong union could secure the stability of the realm—especially in these troubled times.”
She moves even closer, her voice lowering so that only Rhaegar can hear her next words. “House Lannister, for instance, has always stood ready to support the crown. We are the wealthiest house in Westeros, and our influence could be invaluable to your father... and to you, when the time comes.”
Rhaegar meets her gaze, recognizing the offer for what it is: a calculated move to entwine her family’s power with his own. Cersei’s ambition is as bright as her beauty, and while he understands the allure of such a match, his heart remains steadfast in its devotion. Not to her, but to you, and to the dangerous game he must now play to protect you.
“I appreciate the loyalty of House Lannister,” he replies, keeping his tone neutral. “The realm benefits greatly from your family’s wealth and influence.”
Cersei’s smile falters for just a fraction of a second, a flicker of frustration crossing her features before she recovers. “And it could benefit even more from a closer alliance,” she presses. “Together, our houses could usher in a new era of prosperity and peace. A union between us would be celebrated across the Seven Kingdoms.”
But Rhaegar’s mind is elsewhere, replaying Varys’s warnings, the weight of his responsibility to you, the unspoken truth that lies between you and Ser Arthur Dayne. He cannot allow himself to be swayed by Cersei’s words, no matter how tempting the prospect of a secure and powerful future might be.
“My duty is to the realm, Lady Cersei,” he says, his voice firm but not unkind. “And I must consider what is best for it. The future is uncertain, but I will always act in the interest of peace and stability.”
Cersei’s expression tightens, the charm slipping away to reveal a flash of cold determination. “Of course, my prince,” she replies, though the sweetness in her voice has turned brittle. “But remember, peace and stability often require strong alliances. And some alliances are stronger than others.”
Rhaegar nods, signaling the end of their conversation. “I thank you for your counsel, Lady Cersei. I will give it the consideration it deserves.”
She offers him one last smile, though it no longer reaches her eyes. “I hope you do, my prince. For all our sakes.”
With that, she turns and sweeps away, her Lannister entourage following in her wake like a pack of gilded lions. Rhaegar watches her go, a sense of unease settling over him. He knows Cersei will not give up easily, but his heart is resolute. His duty to the realm, to his sister, and to the truth is clear.
Ser Barristan, who has remained silent throughout the exchange, steps closer. “She is not one to be underestimated, my prince.”
“I know,” Rhaegar replies, his gaze distant. “But my path is already set. Whatever the cost, I must protect my sister, and ensure that our house survives the storm to come.”
Barristan nods, his respect for the prince evident in his eyes. “Then we shall be ready, whatever may come.”
Rhaegar resumes his walk through the city, though his thoughts remain troubled. The weight of the crown feels heavier with each passing day, and the future looms uncertain and dark. But he knows that, for now, his course is clear. He must guard the secrets that could destroy his family, even if it means walking a perilous line between duty and desire.
And above all, he must ensure that when the time comes, he is ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead—with or without the support of the lions of Lannister.
The wind whips through your hair as you stand on the balcony of your chambers, the salt air of the Narrow Sea filling your lungs. Below, the waves crash against the rocky shores of Dragonstone, their rhythm a constant reminder of the power and isolation of this ancient seat of your ancestors. The sky is overcast, but the clouds part just enough to allow slivers of sunlight to dance on the waters, turning the sea into a shimmering expanse of silver and gray.
Far in the distance, soaring above the waves, is Terrax. His black scales glisten in the weak sunlight, and his wings beat with a powerful grace that makes your heart swell with a mixture of pride and fear. No longer the size of a hound, Terrax has grown in the past months, now large enough to be mistaken for a small horse. He has claimed the fiery caverns of Dragonmont as his lair, where the heat of the volcano suits his nature. The dragon is fed a steady supply of cattle, and though he still has much growing to do, his presence has already brought a renewed sense of awe and reverence to this ancient fortress.
Yet despite the majesty of the dragon, a shadow hangs over your thoughts. The voices in your nightmares have returned, whispering dark and twisted things that leave you shaken and fearful. You clutch the stone balustrade of the balcony, trying to draw strength from the solidness of the ancient castle, but the whispers are persistent, gnawing at the edges of your sanity.
A soft sound from behind you draws your attention, and you turn to see Ser Arthur Dayne stepping out onto the balcony. His presence is a balm to your troubled mind, and for a moment, the tension in your shoulders eases. Here on Dragonstone, away from the prying eyes of the court, you can afford a small measure of relaxation in each other’s presence. But even here, you must remain vigilant; the risk of discovery is always lurking in the back of your mind.
Arthur’s expression softens as he approaches, his lilac-gray eyes searching your face. "You’ve been out here for a while," he says quietly, his voice filled with concern. "Is everything all right?"
You offer him a faint smile, but it doesn’t reach your eyes. "I find the sea calming," you reply, turning your gaze back to the horizon where Terrax is now a distant silhouette against the sky. "But even here, it’s hard to escape... the nightmares."
Arthur steps closer, his hand resting on the small of your back. The touch is gentle, comforting, and you lean into it, grateful for the warmth of his presence. "The nightmares are back?" he asks, his voice tinged with worry.
You nod, swallowing against the tightness in your throat. "Yes. The same voices, whispering in my ear. I... I fear I’m going mad, Arthur. Just like him." You don’t need to say your father’s name; the fear of Aerys’s madness running through your veins is a constant shadow that you’ve never been able to shake.
Arthur’s brow furrows, and he gently turns you to face him, his hands resting on your shoulders. "You are not going mad, Y/N," he says firmly, his voice grounding you in the moment. "You’ve been through more than anyone should have to endure, but you are strong. You’ve always been strong."
You shake your head, frustration and fear bubbling to the surface. "But these dreams, these voices... they feel so real. They say things that make my skin crawl, that make me doubt everything I know. Sometimes I think I can hear them even when I’m awake."
Arthur’s hands tighten slightly on your shoulders, a silent offer of support. "You are not your father, Y/N," he insists, his gaze never leaving yours. "Whatever these voices are, they do not define you. They do not control you."
"But what if they do?" you whisper, your voice trembling. "What if I’m losing myself, just like he did? What if Terrax is more than just a dragon to me? What if... what if he’s part of this madness?"
Arthur’s expression hardens, and he cups your face in his hands, forcing you to meet his gaze. "Listen to me," he says, his voice low and intense. "Terrax is not a curse. He is a part of you, yes, but he does not dictate who you are. You have a bond with him, a bond that is forged in something deeper than the madness of your father. It is your strength, not your weakness."
You search his eyes, finding only sincerity and the unshakable belief he has in you. The warmth of his hands against your skin anchors you, and slowly, the cold knot of fear in your chest begins to loosen.
"You’re not alone in this," Arthur continues, his voice softer now. "I’m here, and I will do whatever it takes to help you through this. We will find a way to silence these voices, to banish these nightmares."
A tear escapes the corner of your eye, and you lean into his touch, drawing comfort from the man who has been your steadfast protector, your secret love, in the midst of all the chaos. "Thank you, Arthur," you murmur, your voice barely more than a breath.
He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, a gesture that is both tender and filled with unspoken promises. "Always," he replies.
For a moment, you allow yourself to close your eyes and simply breathe, the sound of the sea and the distant cry of Terrax filling your senses. Here, with Arthur by your side, the voices seem further away, their power over you diminished. You can still feel them at the edges of your mind, but they are no longer overwhelming.
When you finally open your eyes, the fear is still there, but it is tempered by the knowledge that you are not facing this alone. You have Arthur, you have Terrax, and you have your own strength—strength that you will need to draw on in the days and months to come.
"We should go back inside," Arthur says softly, though there is a reluctance in his voice. "It wouldn’t do for someone to see us out here alone for too long."
You nod, though you linger for a moment longer, casting one last glance at Terrax, who is now circling back toward the island, his powerful wings cutting through the air with ease. There is something majestic, something undeniable about the dragon, and despite your fears, you can’t help but feel a deep connection to him, one that transcends the nightmares and the whispers.
With a final sigh, you allow Arthur to lead you back inside, where the warmth of the castle wraps around you like a comforting embrace. The darkness of your fears may still lurk, but here, within these ancient walls, you have found something to hold onto—hope.

Chapter One - Abyss
A strange dream.

Feet are light on the ground, consciousness of the world around him muted as if perceiving through a vignette. The environment is recognized in the heart yet unfamiliar in mind. A lick of light caresses his peripheral vision. Head turns to see a long wooden hallway; lanterns alight with small flames hanging from the edges of the roof along the path. There's a sliding paper doorway at the other end. The warm lights flicker in an admonitory manner. Chill of the night air is painfully noticeable as it nips at the skin. Continuing his stride down the direction brought to his immediate attention, whatever came before is no longer relevant, let alone remembered. There's a pull at his chest by some non-physical force. He's convinced whatever is through that door is important.
He begins to run.
The hallway passes painfully slow. With each support beam passed, the next feels like it pulls further and further away. The ground stretching out in front of him, he tries to increase his speed by the strength feet hit the wooden floor to no avail. The cracks between the floorboards begin to seep with a light blue glow and slowly start to shake. Only seconds pass before they then begin to sputter violently, haze puffing up from beneath like vents to an industrial underground. The atmosphere grows tense. Now every tick of the clock in his mind is felt with impending danger. Determination begins fading to be replaced with fear.
Don't look back.
Do not look back.
Finally, he feels the impact of his feet to the ground in full force, a geyser of air blasting up to his left a few feet ahead, cracking, snapping and blowing a hole in the wood. Throwing his arms up to protect himself from the flying debris, he flies past as more holes get blown open ahead in varying spots. Balance threatens to be thrown aside due to the harsh vibration of the foundation beneath, yet he somehow stays upright. He has to make it inside. The very floor being ripped from the earth does not scare him as much as what's behind. It's gaze pierces his back, clawing it's way through his skin and causing hair to raise to peaks. Something no mortal weapon can defend from. Something that can only be ran from, or one pays the price in it's hold. His ears begin to ring from the chaos below, mind only able to focus on the destination.
He's almost there.
Mere seconds from the door, the ground just feet in front of it erupts, wood getting thrown into the air, haze hissing threateningly. The path is truncated, causing him to skid to a stop at it's edge. Releasing a grunt, he takes a few large steps back. The haze wall still remains, slowly powering down from it's blast. It's too dangerous to jump now. Yet, he might not have a choice.
It's getting closer.
Grinding his teeth, he freezes as he feels the ground rumble with the approach of each deep stomp. He has to make a decision, and he has to make it quickly. Tick. Stomp. Tock. Stomp.
Tick.
Stomp.
Tock.
Stomp.
Tick.
Stomp.
Tock.
He makes his move. Bolting, he pushes off the edge of the shattered wood. The haze breathes up towards him, though not with the intensity of before. He passes through it's border, throwing a hand to grip the edge of the opposite side. Adrenaline rushes through his veins as he hooks his other arm up, trying to hoist the rest of his body to safety. There's a crack. The sensation of falling hits, guts churning and breath siphoning from his lungs in a shocked exhale. The door flies away as he's pulled down with the rest of the floor. Sinking into the blue light below, it begins to blind him as it fades to white, an inhuman roar originating from where he fell. He pulls his arms up to grasp his head, legs pulling in towards his chest.
A few seconds of sensory silence pass as darkness overtakes.
His body awakens harshly, feeling an internal slam as if his soul was thrown to the ground, heart beating out of his chest. He is partially in the same position he was in just moments ago with knees pulled into fetal position. Eyes creak open with a quiet inhale. He's lying on his side upon a futon, disheveled, hair messy and sheet twisted. His arms are laid out in front, one hand enclosing the soft fabric in an aching fist. Dim starlight filters through a half-curtained window in the wall.
It's hot. So hot.
Sweat drips down his back and hairline, rolling down his spine and forehead. Several minutes pass as he remains still, waiting for his heartbeat to slow back to normal, allowing the mind to settle on the fact he's back in reality. Once the relief sets in, his fist unclasps, fingers unfurling to reach out to his phone that's placed upon folded clothes just next to him. Tiredly sliding it closer, the button upon it's side is pressed. The brightness of the screen is dim enough to not assault his eyes upon it's wake. Over a default background of color waves, numbers spell out the time of night. Or, day, rather, as it is well past midnight now. Three fifty-four in the morning.
It's still a good two hours before he'd usually arise, yet now that he's awake, it's becoming increasingly difficult to consider going back to sleep the longer it's thought about. That's the first nightmare he's had like that since... well, a while, to say the least. The phone battery displays it's at about 54%. Damn it. The generator went out again during the night. No wonder it was so hot. He'll have to work on it today.
The screen returns to black after it's left vacant of any activity for a few moments and he simply relaxes his hand with it in his palm next to his pillow. He remains there for a few more minutes before residing to get up. Letting the phone gently slide off his hand to the futon's surface, he pushes himself up into a kneel, the sheet slipping off his body to fold upon itself at his legs. The only clothing he wore to sleep is a simple pair of underwear. It's been extremely warm and humid this past summer. Luckily he's been able to pull through and autumn has finally begun.
He stands, stretching his left dragon tattooed arm across his chest, then alternating to the other. Cupping the back of his neck through his loose black hair, he steps off the futon, bare feet shuffling across the wooden floor. Despite the place being nearly pitch black, his body knows where to take him. Through an open door to the side, he puts a hand out, coming into contact with a sink. Cupping some of the water kept within it's bowl, he buries his face in his hands. The liquid splashes, dripping from his beard and some onto his muscular arms and upper torso. It feels nice. But he'll need more than that.
Exhaling softly, tiredness begins to slowly leave him as he simply wipes the remaining moisture from his face with one hand. Heading back over towards the futon, he bends over, feeling for his phone. Once he grabs it, he flicks it open, switching the flashlight on and leaving it facing up on the futon as he moves about the room. Grabbing a match box from the floor by his clothes, he slides one of the small sticks out, striking the flame. The warm light softly envelopes his face and he cups a hand around it so it won't blow out as he walks around to light a few different candles within. One sits behind the sink in the bathroom, revealing a small mirror hanging above on the wall as he lights its wick. Shifting his gaze up, he meets his own ambers in reflection. Eye bags hang underneath, shadows not helping with their perceived heaviness. Dark hair flows over his shoulders, just past them in length. Moving on to a wardrobe in the main room with a set of three candles, he lights them all and slowly the room comes to life with the glow.
For what it's worth, this place holds up well. He's added his own touches here and there to make it feel like, well... home. As much of one as he deserves. So, not much. It's more of a base to come back to every year as it's only a few hours walk away from Hanamura. Makes it much easier to pay his yearly respects to his brother at the shrine. It's been over five years now since that day. He goes into town often in disguise to take care of small jobs and such for some extra cash to keep the place up. He is basically just a ronin now. Just like the old days when samurai still existed.
Ronin. Wandering samurai. They had no masters, and no homes. Often these individuals had cut ties with family, or simply lost all reputability. He was raised as a son of the Shimada clan. Though it was a criminal empire, it protected those under it, fervently. Now, there's nothing to that name anymore. Nothing to his name.
Hanzo Shimada. The first son of Sojiro Shimada. The heir to the clan, and the primary link to the bloodline.
Many want him dead. Some think he already is. It's best to keep it that way.
The match burns down to the base where its pinched. No pain is felt at the calloused fingertips that hold the little thing. He simply watches as it proceeds to go out on its own. Once it's light fully dissipates, he tosses the blackened remains in a small waste bin by the sink. Walking back over to his futon, he switches off the phone light. He shouldn't drain it's battery too much today. Picking up his clothes, he begins to dress.
Baggy black pants, a plain black gi folded left over right, a blue cloth belt around his waist along with a small hip bag and metal boots, small blue lights upon their heel that fizz to life once they're clicked on with the pant legs tucked inside. Usually he'd keep the left sleeve of his top off in order to shoot his bow, though his tattoo would be a dead giveaway. Luckily, not many truly know what he looked like back then unless they knew him. Yet, now he's grown facial hair and some grey has started to show in his hair at the sides of his head, ever so slightly, just behind his ears. He pulls his hair up into a high ponytail, wrapping a silver sash around it that flows the length of his torso once secured. Finalizing the look, he walks to the back corner of the room where he's set his bow and quiver.
Once the quiver is situated upon his back, he pulls the bow overhead so it's string holds across his chest. Turning to face the rest of the rather barren room, he grabs his phone and makes his way to a set of slightly disheveled wooden stairs, descending to the lower level of the small abode.
In the ground level room, there sits a simple, low wooden table center upon tatami mats with chairs that simply don't seem to have legs, having just the pillows and back support. All of this is separate from the main, empty living room with regular wooden floor, same as above. On the table's surface, tools used for honing weapons and wood carving for when he crafts his own arrows or needs to fix his bow.
In the back corner a few feet away from the table stands a small iron stove. It keeps a good portion of the place warm in winter, hence a good size wood pile not far from it. Heading to the doorway, it's simply a large piece of heavy cloth that he's nailed up and has the ability to tack it down to the frame if need be for weather purposes. It's as close to a door he's going to get. Pushing past the tattered grey fabric, he looks side to side down the alleyway that lies just outside.
Quiet. As always.
Around him, other buildings fully collapsed or partially so, nature growing over them as it has the outside of his. Rubble, damaged and dead Omnic units and debris all abandoned from the time of the Omnicrisis pepper the surroundings. This area was left behind to be forgotten. Lost, probably forever. Stepping outside to the stone pathway, he slips his phone into his bag, feet taking him down in one direction in a silent run.

Anyone battling a life threatening illness has one (1) job: HEALING
When the Meghans are low on royal "information" that can be used to distract from their failures, they use Catherine's name and reputation as an online punching bag to satisfy their online temper tantrums.
This "confession" by MEgain Markle is another vain attempt to distract Catherine and her team away from their priorities and into the public for press attacks and online chatter.
MEgain's only talent is seduction. As a seductress we see an unfortunate pattern of ill people, elderly people & animals who interact with Sparry, MEgain and Dorito getting hurt, becoming sicker, or dying.
MEgain never desired a successful 2nd marriage, she wanted 1 thing: to be Princess Diana 2.0.
Wills & Kate were actually in love with one another, not with stardom. The Cambridge's were wise. They chose to focus on establishing a firm foundation in marriage & family BEFORE they became working royals.
William worked full-time PILOTING in his non-BRF Anglesey air ambulance job while his bride volunteered, managed their home, and studied to show herself approved in her new life as a member of a historic family. Even the Cambridge's housekeepers quit their jobs because they felt Kate didn't leave them any work to do.
Fortunately, the Cambridge's learned valuable lessons from the non-royal early years of the long marriage between Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.
Sophie followed this same advice from QE and today the Duchess of Edinburgh is one of the most respected members of the BRF.
Everything MEgain did in the UK was to create a resume that would advance her lifelong goal of becoming a STAR in Los Angeles.
The Queen advised MEgain to follow in Sophie's footsteps because there was no need to give up acting. MEgain rejected this sage advice because she was desperate to return to CA with a new resume as a humanitarian & a philanthropist. MEgain hired several PR Firms with the post-wedding goal of becoming Princess Diana 2.0. She was in a hurry to achieve international stardom---- if only she had factored in the impact of her unlikeable personality and her poor job performances. The watching world soundly rejected Mrs. Sparry Windsor on every level. Her goal, as explained by the Sussex Survivors Club, was always to FAIL & to BOLT. All of her mini "projects" were designed for her resume, not for the BRF.
MEgain truly felt that if she lived with a chef (Chef Cory) & took credit for the Chef's recipes, she would become a Food Network TV Star. She simply refused to understand why no one was impressed with her ability to make toast!!! She graduated from fake chef to grief grifter and tragedy vulture. She scammed the Grenfell survivors into featuring her name and photos amongst their own recipes & stories. In an effort to prevent the grifter from overshadowing their work, several cookbooks had to be reprinted.
MEgain was desperate to quickly meet A-list celebrities and political icons. She used Markus Anderson's Soho House "friend" to help her ruin the September issue of British Vogue. The magazine had to slash the price by 50% to move the issue. The project had nothing to do with supporting the BRF, and MEgain even stole the cover title and layout from a pair of Australian authors.
MEgain knows nothing about proper work attire, but she was desperate to have her name associated with stores that weren't "Reitman's, Really" so she scammed needy job seekers into dressing up like penguins and restaurant wait staff/hostesses. She fails to understand why DIOR didn't knock down her door with opportunities to connect their name to such a sloppy, messy, unkempt and vulgar member of the BRF.
DIOR has joyful, natural beauties like Sparry's former girlfriend Cressida Bonas to dress the part and to always carry herself in a respectable manner for their iconic brand.
Despite her LIGHT workload, MEgain managed to ruin everything she touched: 26 engagements in 5 months= 1 work hour per week
“I'm convinced "pretty privilege" exists. Kate's had incredibly low work engagements for years (something Kate's been highly criticised for years pre-Meghan), her Early Years "work" isn't exactly groundbreaking, and while I feel sorry she has cancer, I'm disappointed that Kate hasn't been raising cancer awareness (even a quick video call online) instead of attending flashy events like Wimbledon. For those whose say that "she's raising kids - leave her alone!" conveniently forget that she has help (nannies, aides…) and is living on the taxpayers dime…” - Submitted by Anonymous

Price: [price_with_discount] (as of [price_update_date] - Details) [ad_1] “This book could be described as an encyclopedia of service design–Erl leaves nothing to chance. Indispensable.”–Steve Birkel, Chief IT Technical Architect, Intel Corp. “An absolute pleasure to read…the best SOA book I’ve read.A book I would recommend to all of my colleagues; it provides much insight to the topics often overlooked by most books in this genre…the visuals were fantastic.”–Brandon Bohling, SOA Architecture and Strategy, Intel Corporation “This book is a milestone in SOA literature. For the first time we are provided with a practical guide on defining service characteristics and service design principles for SOA from a vendor-agnostic viewpoint. It’s a great reference for SOA discovery, adoptions, and implementation projects.”–Canyang Kevin Liu, Principal Enterprise Architect, SAP Americas, Inc. “I liked this book. It contains extremely important material for those who need to design services.”–Farzin Yashar, IBM SOA Advanced Technologies “This book does a great job laying out benefits, key ideas and design principles behind successfully adopting service-oriented computing. At the same time, the book openly addresses challenges, risks and trade-offs that are in the way of adopting SOA in the real-world today. It moves away from ivory-tower views of service orientation, but still lays out a strong vision for SOA and outlines the changes necessary to realize the full potential.”–Christoph Schittko, Senior Architect, Microsoft “I recommend this book to any SOA practitioner who wishes to empower themselves in making service design real…gives readers the 360º view into service design [and] gives SOA practitioners the depth and understanding needed into the principles of SOA to assist in the design of a mature and successful SOA program.”–Stephen G. Bennett, Americas SOA Practice Lead, BEA Systems “SOA projects are most successful when they are based on a solid technical foundation. Well accepted and established design principles are part of this foundation. This book takes a very structured approach at defining the core design principles for SOA, thus allowing the reader to immediately applying them to a project. Each principle is formally introduced and explained, and examples are given for how to apply it to a real design problem. A ‘must read’ for any architect, designer or developer of service oriented solutions”.–Andre Tost, Senior Technical Staff Member, IBM Software Group “There are few references for SOA that give you the nuts and bolts and this one is at the top of the list. A must read for the practitioner of SOA service design.”–Umit Yalcinalp, PhD, Standards Architect, SAP “This book really does an excellent job of explaining the principles underpinning the value of SOA…Erl goes to great length to explain and give examples of each of the 8 principles that will significantly increase the readers ability to drive an SOA service design that benefits both business and IT.”–Robert Laird, IT Architect, IBM EAI/SOA Advanced Technologies Group “This book strikes a healthy balance between theory and practice. It is a perfect complement to the SOA series by the author.”–Prakash Narayan, Sun Microsystems “If you are going to be designing, developing, or implementing SOA, this is a must have book.”–Jason “AJ” Comfort Sr., Booz Allen Hamilton “An excellent book for anyone who wants to understand service-orientation and the principles involved in designing services…a clear, concise and articulate exploration of the eight design principles involved in analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining services…”–Anish Karmarkar, Oracle Corporation “Very well written, succinct, and easy to understand.”–Raj Balasubramanian, IBM Software Group “Acomprehensive exploration of the issues of service design which has the potential to become the definitive work in this area.–James Pasley, Chief Technology Officer, Cape Clear Software “An excellent addition to any SOA library; it covers a wide range of issues in enough detail to be a valuable asset to anyone considering designing or using SOA based technologies.”–Mark Little, Director of Standards, Red Hat “This book communicates complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Examples and illustrations are used very effectively.”–Darryl Hogan, Senior Architect, Microsoft “A work of genius…Offers the most comprehensive and thorough explanation on the principles of service design and what it means to be ‘service oriented.’“Erl’s treatment of the complex world of service oriented architecture is pragmatic, inclusive of real world situations and offers readers ways to communicate these ideas through illustrations and well formulated processes.”–David Michalowicz, MITRE Corporation “This is the book for the large organization trying to rationalize its IT assets and establish an agile platform for the future. By highlighting risk and rewards, Thomas Erl brings clarity to how Service Orientation can be applied to ensure a responsive IT organization. This book finally brings software engineering principles to address the real world development challenges being faced. To effectively serve the business, let alone embrace SOA, everyone involved should be familiar with the concepts investigated here. Thomas Erl thoroughly clarifies the nuances and defines the practice of service design. We expect that this will become a classic text in software engineering, corporate trainingand colleges.”–Cory Isaacson, President, Rogue Wave Software and Ravi Palepu, SOA Author and Speaker “Thomas Erl does a great job…an easy read.”–Michael H. Sor, Booz Allen Hamilton “…a must read for SOA Architects to develop a firm foundation and understanding of the principles (and trade-offs) that make up a good SOA service.
After reading this book, it finally ‘clicked’ as to why a properly designed SOA system is different (and better) than a system based on previous enterprise architectures.”–Fred Ingham, Platinum Solutions Inc. “Lays a tremendous foundation for business and technical workers to come to common terms and expectations…incredibly enlightening to see the details associated with achieving the SOA vision.”–Wayne P. Ariola, Vice President of Strategy, Parasoft “[Erl does] and excellent job of addressing the breadth of [his] audience to present to those new to SOA and weaved in enough detail to assist those who are already actively involved in SOA development.”–R. Perry Smith, Application Program Manager, EDS/OnStar “It is easy to miss the big picture of what SOA means for the design of larger scale systems amidst the details of WS technologies. Erl helps provide a broader perspective, surveying the landscape from a design standpoint.”–Jim Clune, Chief Architect, Parasoft “Lays a firm foundation for the underlying principles of good service design. Cuts through the hype and provides a cogent resource for improving architectural judgment on SOA projects.”–Jim Murphy, Vice President of Product Management, Mindreef, Inc. “The first book to concisely, gradually and comprehensively explain how to apply SOA principles into enterprise-level software design. It is an excellent book.”–Robin G. Qiu, Ph.D., Division of Engineering and Information Science, Pennsylvania State University “I really think that this is a very useful book that a lot of people really need out there in the industry.”–Dr. Arnaud Simon, Principal Software Engineer, Red Hat “…indispensable companion to designing and implementing a service-oriented architecture. It condenses all information necessary to design services and is the most relevant source I know if in the field.”“[This book is] not only helpful, but fundamental to successfully designing an SOA.”–Phillipp Offermann, Research Analyst, University of Berlin “Service-Oriented Architecture is an important topic in IT today. Its vast scope could span an organization’s enterprise. Designing it properly is a major undertaking. This book provides timely, expert and comprehensive discussions on the principles of service design. Thomas has a keen sense in identifying the subtle points of various subjects and explains them in an easy-to-understand way. The book is a valuable resource for IT professionals working in SOA.”–Peter H. Chang, PhD, Associate Professor of Information Systems, Lawrence Technological University The Definitive Guide to Service EngineeringThe key to succeeding with service-oriented architecture (SOA) is in comprehending the meaning and significance of its most fundamental building block: the service. It is through an understanding of service design that truly “service-oriented” solution logic can be created in support of achieving the strategic goals associated with SOA and service-oriented computing. Bestselling SOA author Thomas Erl guides you through a comprehensive, insightful, and visually rich exploration of the service-orientation design paradigm, revealing exactly how services should and should not be designed for real-world SOA. This book’s in-depth coverage includesOver 240 full-color illustrations. A concise introduction to SOA and service-oriented computing concepts and benefits. A thorough exploration of the service-orientation design paradigm as represented by eight specific design principles. A comparison of service-oriented and object-oriented concepts and principles and a clear definition of what qualifies as “service-oriented” logic. Detailed coverage of four different forms of service-related design granularity. An exhaustive examination of service contracts, with an emphasis on standardization, abstraction, and the utilization of WS-Policy, XML Schema, and WSDL definitions. A comprehensive study of positive and negative service-related coupling types with an emphasis on the requirements to attaining a suitable level of loose coupling.
An inside look into how commercial design approaches are incorporated to achieve truly agnostic and reusable service logic. Techniques for maximizing service reliability, scalability, and performance by instilling high levels of autonomy and emphasizing stateless design. Approaches for positioning services as highly discoverable and interpretable enterprise resources. Unprecedented coverage of how to design services for participation in complex compositions. The definition of concrete links between each design principle and the strategic goals and benefits of SOA and service-oriented computing. Cast In Shadow And Blood - A Clace fanfic
Consider this a sign that I am, in fact, alive.

Note - Clary and Jace are the main characters here, the others are just mentioned.
---------------------------------------------------
Clary settled down into bed, sparing only one glance for the descending curtain of night that was chasing away the sun. Snow fell softly outside, silencing the world in a blanket of white. She turned to Jace, who had settled into bed beside her a moment before. “Good to see you here.” she said, grinning. “I was thinking you’d somehow managed to murder yourself using kitchen utensils, but thankfully you do seem to still be alive.” Jace grinned, handing her the bowl of snacks he’d gathered on his snack run. “You know me. I love to keep people guessing. You would know that most of all.” he said, chuckling. Clary, laughing, punched him playfully in the shoulder before leaning back onto the pillows. Jace grabbed the remote, settling in beside her. “Are you sure you’re ready for this?” Clary asked Jace, in that way where nobody could be sure if she was being serious. “I survived a literal hell dimension, I think I’ll be ok with some horror movies.” Jace replied, turning on the TV they had installed in front of their bed.
The next few hours speed by in a rush of buttery popcorn and melted chocolate and a myriad of scary movies. Some featured the paranormal or supernatural, others much more real fears like insanity and serial killers. By the time the clock struck 2 pm, they had watched enough scary movies for a lifetime and, though neither would admit it, were feeling quite on edge and jumpy. As the credits rolled for The Ring, Jace turned to Clary and exhaled deeply, letting all his nerves out. “Wow.” they said simultaneously, laughing in pure relief everything was right in the world. “I’m gonna go put everything away.” said Jace, standing, stretching, and grabbing the empty bowls. “Alright you do that. I’ll get everything ready for bed.” Clary replied, already flicking off the television and pulling the blinds shut. Jace returned within a few minutes, hands empty and tiredness gathering behind his eyes. It wasn’t long before both were settled under the covers with the lights off, facing each other and breathing evenly. “I love you, dork.” Clary said affectionately to Jace, kissing him. “I love you too.” he replied, hugging her close.
They fell asleep like that, happy and together and content that everything they had just seen was firmly within the realm of fiction.
Clary’s eyes fluttered open, making their way to the alarm clock. It read 3:05 am. Groaning, Clary slid out of bed and stood, making her way to the bathroom in the complete and utter black. It took her only a few moments to gather her surroundings and realize that something was very very wrong. What she saw gazing out the window was her first clue. There was absolutely no sign of life outside the Institute. No cars, or shop windows, or even a few people staggering their way home late. The snow was still steadily falling, blanketing every single surface. The pitch blackness of this time of morning covered the landscape, twisting and contorting it into something completely unrecognizable. By light, Clary could have navigated those streets with her eyes closed. But by dark, all her pleasant memories of the spot were gone and nothing could be seen or gleaned from the area. Put simply, the darkness hid things. And this darkness in particular seemed… dangerous. Parasitic. Permeated only by the faint glow of street lamps. And that light was certainly not enough to reveal anything the darkness could have been concealing.
The second clue that something was wrong was the silence. Outside the Institute and inside. Outside, the snow was silent as the grave and there were no night sounds. No animals, sounds of farawar life, or even the crackling of electric lighting. Inside, it was just as quiet. None of the sounds that were usually associated with a building so huge and old. The floorboards didn’t creak, no faint sounds echoed through the halls. The silence was eerie, and more than a little unnerving. By now, Clary had reached the bathroom and was quietly using the restroom and washing her hands. The splash of the water seemed deafening compared to the lack of sound. Darting out of the room and back to their bedroom, Clary realized the final factor in why everything felt so wrong.
The air. It was strangely... heavy. Somehow forceful, as if something was compressing it down. The air slunk around the halls, and Clary could not shake the feeling that not only was it weighing on her, but something was watching her. Trying to shake the feeling of unease, Clary slid back into bed beside Jace, closed her eyes, and tried to sleep. This attempt did not last long, and soon Clary popped her eyes open again. She quickly looked at Jace. He was still sound asleep. She sighed, flopping backward. “What I wouldn’t give to just be able to fall asleep and stay that way.” Clary thought, exasperated. It was just then that something shattered downstairs in the Institute. Clary sat bolt upright, eyes wide and heart pounding. Fear ran through every inch of Clary’s body. Pure, bone chilling fear that made her feel like she was disintegrating. Shook to her bones, Clary wrapped her arms around herself and tried to calm her shivering. “You’re just being irrational.” She told herself. “Maybe I left a window open and the wind knocked something over.” she rationalized, still shaking from head to toe. If the wind was the cause, you would’ve heard it from outside, a voice at the back of Clary’s mind whispered.
A chill descended on her then. Something so cold and gripping that it was like one thousand icy wolves howling to the wind before ripping you to shreds. Clary felt an icicle slip down her back and she launched to her feet, unsure of what to do. She felt her lips turning blue and her skin paling under the duress of the chill. Something thin and skeletal whipped through the room then, cloaked in a raggedy, torn robe. The terrifying sight of it burned itself into Clary’s eyelids. It was so quick and quiet that she could have convinced herself she was imaging it, except for the fact that the blinds were now thrown open and the window was cracked. Neither had been that way a split second before. Clary turned to Jace, shaking his shoulder and hissing his name repeatedly. “Jace! Come on Jace, wake up! I think there’s something here!” but he wouldn’t wake, and it seemed he was permanently stuck to the bed, Atleast, until he shifted and his neck snapped at an angle no human could survive. His face shifted to face hers. And that was when Clary screamed.
There was a painfully large grin on Jace’s face. His lips were stretched back from his teeth, and his face seemed to glow with an unholy light. He was unusually pale, as if all the color had been soaked from him. His eyes shone far too bright with something close to madness. All Clary knew for sure in that moment was that whatever was in front of her was not her Jace. Beyond that, she didn’t know. It must have read the question on her face, because it opened its mouth and hissed out something that was infinitely not human. Clary frantically searched her index of language knowledge for a translation, but found nothing. “See you soon.” it whispered, smile stretching wider. “You have summoned me with visages of horror, and now you must pay the price.” Jace’s body collapsed onto the bed. Within moments he was stirring, and Clary was frantically at his side. “Jace? Jace! Are you ok? How do you feel?” Jace pulled himself upright, rubbing his eyes and looking around confusedly. “What’s happening?” he asked, voice still thick with sleep. “Please just trust me. We have to go now .” Clary whispered, pulling Jace to his feet. He read the frantic nature of her voice and instantly snapped to alert.
The pair began running out the bedroom and down the hall. Jace knew little of the situation, but still flew through his brain for allies to call for help. “Simon and Isabelle? No, they’re on vacation in the countryside. Magnus and Alec? Fuck, they’re investigating a situation in Cincinatti there’s no way they’ll make it back on time.” as his list of allies ran dry, fear began to sink its claws into Jace. They were still running down the halls of the Institute, desperately trying to make their way to the doors. However, one blink of time and it was all over. Screams of anguish rang in both Jace and Clary’s ears, reaching a pitch so high both bent over in pain. There were brief flashes of blood, painting the floor, walls, and ceiling red. The entire building began to shake, as if something was gnawing away at the foundations. Wraithlike forms began to appear, empty eye sockets somehow still managing to glimmer with malice. Jace and Clary were desperate now, dodging the foes while still scrambling for the door. Then, one popped into existence right in front of them. They skidded to a halt, trying to turn around but it was too late.
The being reached one of its hands right through Clary’s heart and the other hand right through Jace’s. Suddenly, they were back in their bedroom, standing beside the bed. The room was cast in shadow and blood, faint rays of light revealing the room to be a horrible parody of its former self. Both Jace and Clary tried to move, but found instantly they were frozen and rendered completely immobile. They barely had time to exchange one glance that said so much before the specter appeared before them, reaching into their hearts again. And then, it twisted. Pain. Pain that made every past grievance seem like a paper cut in comparison. Blinding white pain, like a thousand explosions in one form. The pain of bones cracking and twisting and shattering into five million glass sharp shards. The pain of loneliness, of longing so deeply for someone to be by your side that you turned into a ghost yourself. The pain of helplessness, of being unable to move or cry out or scream or do anything as your death approached. So many shades of pain, twisted neatly up and forced right down into Jace and Clary’s souls.
The terrible finality hit them then. They were going to die. And nobody could save them. Eeking out a few moments of clarity, Jace and Clary turned their gazes to the other. “I love you.” the gazes said. “I love you, and I will love you from now until the moment time ends.”
And then, everything faded to silent, deep, nothingness.
Clary sat up in bed, sweat beading down her neck and terror whining in her head. Jace was safe asleep beside her, breathing softly and calmly. The alarm clock, the sole source of light in the room, read 3:03.
A scream built its way through Clary’s mind and body, working its way slowly up through her throat.
A voice slithered into her head, ominous and inescapable.
I am coming

The Bucket List Azul x Reader Chapter 2
Unedited
word count: 1,177
Author’s note;
I'll be honest with you; I didn't have a plan with the chapter before, but now I have the story's base after a lot of thinking. I'm sorry for the unnecessary dialogue. It helps me understand the characters more (even if they seem occ), and for the unedited chapters, I'm currently trying to find someone to beta the story, which will probably be my sister in the end. On a final note, this story will not focus on the current timeline of the game. As always, constructive criticism is helpful. :)
Azul Ashengrotto.
A second-year student gaining the sturdy position of Octavinelle head dorm leader. It wasn't an easy gain without a doubt, particularly directly placed in a dorm known for its admirable intelligence and cunning peers. However, thanks to a set of eels, Azul ravage his opponents as if it was his last meal. Now they were all in an agonizing account for the rest of their worthless school era. His personality reeked of greed, wanting more but misery for his enemies, illustrated like the true sea witch herself.
Nonetheless, who was there to butcher their morality? His tormentors all had a taste of his wrath. Why attack the gullible? Simple.
To manifest power.
To be on the peak of the social hierarchy.
To attain his happily ever after.
Azul smirked at the trembling students avoiding his perspective. Merging with the background as they should be. In his shaft of hearing, the occasional whisper drift by, some gossip perked his interest in his latest victim's settlement.
"Poor guy."
"He didn't deserve that." "But, you already know not to interpose an agreement with him."
What a good day indeed.
Established in their usual meeting place (name), chewed on a low priced stale bread from the cafeteria bargain bin, with an insufficient occupation required to clean an extensive college structured as Sleeping Beauty castle was not an effortless task. She pushed herself to be stingy with each pay. Peculiarly with a specific feline demanding tuna in an instant. (name) sensed her youth fleeing. "would you like some of my lunch?" An adolescent lavender haired boy questioned. She glanced at the untouched lavish lunch in envy. A well-made lambada engulfs in beef and red wine jus, lastly topped with little parsley. The inside of her stomach screamed for a godly meal. Repressing down a gulp, her eyes blinked at the marble ground. "Its alright, Epel. I'm already full." "No, I insist! Vil absurd diet is making me go insane. I need to eat something filled with a lot of oil and fat." he shoved his plate in front of her, wary about his surroundings. Epel mainly focused on his upperclassman Vil who was reapplying his foundation.
"Thanks, Epel! I was getting tired of bargain food." Grim exclaimed. Grabbing the tray in his tiny paws, he consumed the meal in a flash, letting out an air of gas from his mouth. Grim smiled at his satisfying feed. "Oi, you didn't save some for (name)! You greedy cat!" Deuce growled, clutching his fork a bit too hard. "Hey, she did say she was full." "that doesn't mean you should eat the entire meal!" he hastily rose from his chair, glaring. Enough of watching (name) sighed, turning away from the ongoing dispute. Twisted Wonderland cafeteria was booming then usual; students from all dorms sat with friends enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. She flicked her eyes at a group of hunch boys brutally typing away on their keyboards. No conversation was initiated aside from the occasional mutter—Ignihyde dorm. The lighting shone on them was dim, and their table seemed to be discluded from the rest; how fitting for their personality.
A loud smash appeared behind. As (name) turned around, a student with abnormal ears shaped like a cat gripped his peer collar. He raised his fist, threatening to punch him; his friends around him cheered on. This wasn't unusual as the Savanaclaw campus consisted of hotheaded students. However, the female was thankful that Jack wasn't anything like that.
Scanning once more, her eyes latch onto a pair of shade cerulean pupils—a male with silvery-blue hair touch with a charming smile leer at her. Resting his head in his right hand, it was like he was asserting her as his next prey. Azul Ashengrotto.
Was he staring at her the entire time? How come did she not sense it? Is he going to kill her? Shaking out those thoughts away (name) went back to focus on Grim and Deuce bickering, and they appeared to move on to the next matter. Joining with their conversation, she couldn't but help to glance back up at him. Just something about made him exhilarating, like a drug she never wants to finish. Azul let out a radiant grin, expecting her to look at him a second time. Blushing at being caught in action, (name) rigidly rise from her seat. "(name)?" Epel inquired. "toilet," "I need to use the toilet."
She swiftly trudges away from them, wanting to bolt from Azul's presence. Bumping into some students along the way, she hastily mumbles an apology, determines to arrive at the women's bathroom.
"Azul..."
Now outside the cafeteria in an open hallway. Not many students were present, still relishing their lunch hour.
"Azul."
His name kept repeating in her head. Up ahead was the toilet.
"Azul"
(name) fling the entrance wide open. A clean, pristine bathroom was obviously unoccupied as she was the only female in the school. She hugged her arms while her legs cede to the cold tiled floor. Who knew one simple boy could clutter her thinking. It wasn't like she was in love with the male. They even haven't had a proper conversation yet or stand in terms of friends. Simple entice with his mysterious character. She needs to manage her emotions, now that her classmates witness that little scene. After cleaning herself up, (name) left the lavatory sighing, beginning her journey back to them.
"That was quite the little outburst you cause shrimpy~."
A familiar voice seizes her attention. Leaning against the wall was Floyd next to him was his brother. The Leech twins. The vulnerable female didn't reply; instead, she made an effort of a glare. "Don't look at us like that. It makes me want to gobble you up." He saunters his way towards her, successfully backing her against the wooden door. "Leave her alone, Floyd, if Azul finds out you were playing with his toy, then he'll throw a little fit." The other twin inform.
"What did they mean by a toy?" she silently inquiry. As if reading her mind, Jade answers. "Please ignore that statement, but our dear friend Azul would like to talk to you." He pulled his unpredictable brother away from her, giving the girl some space to breathe. "Why?" (name) integrate all of a sudden filled with a surge of courage. "because he can sense a hopeless little girl in need of help." "that doesn't mean anything."
"ah, but it's true" From what I've heard, you're a primary target of bullying and currently lacking money for a proper meal." Jade then handed a small printed card detail with information. "come visit the Mostro lounge if you're interested." The little paper was in her fingers, rereading the particulars. "how do you know that I'll come?" "my, my, you do ask so many questions," Floyd revealed. "Let's say we just know." Both of them gave her one last smile before heading in the opposite direction of the cafeteria.
"Azul Ashengrotto, the great witch, able to grant any wishes."
She read out loud.

Finding a Reliable Concrete Foundation Contractor
No matter where you live, you need a concrete foundation contractor who can fix your basement or driveway problems quickly and efficiently without endangering your property or injuries. Luckily, many reputable concrete foundation contractors in Minneapolis have the experience to fix all kinds of foundation problems without damaging your home. Get the best concrete foundation repair company near you to discuss the possible scope and cost of fixing a damaged concrete foundation. You can call or visit several concrete foundations contractors near you to learn more about the services they offer and get an idea of how much the average cost will be. Then compare those prices with other bids from other companies to select the one that best meets your needs.
Concrete foundations are necessary for any building containing one or more floors. The most popular places for these are steel buildings and metal buildings. Most homes also contain some type of concrete foundation. However, the older the home, the more likely it is that it may have a foundation problem.
The older a home gets, the more likely it is that it will need foundation support. This is especially true in climates that vary from mild winters to extreme heat during the summer months. Without the proper foundation, your home and its foundations are exposed to extreme weather conditions that can cause damage over time. One such damage is called a slab leak, which occurs when rainwater seeps into the concrete and weakens it. If this happens, walls and sidewalks might need to be repaired.
One reason that older homes may need foundation support is that their exterior walls are not properly insulated against the cold or the heat. As well, soil or clay expansion and contraction due to seasonal weather changes can leave foundation walls cracks or openings. These cracks or openings, called breaches, make it easy for water or moisture to get inside the home, especially during the hot, dry summer months. Homeowners might think that they have enough waterproofing materials on hand at their local hardware store, but without foundation coatings, these cracks can quickly turn into major flooding problems. This can even happen when they least expect it!
To save money on concrete foundation repair methods, homeowners should be aware of what options are available to them. Slab jacking is a common technique that homeowners can take advantage of. With slab jacking, a concrete foundation contractor can move walls and repair breaches in the floor system. In addition, these professionals can also make minor repairs to cracks and drainage issues.
On the other hand, another option that homeowners can take advantage of is full basement re-facing. Full basement re-facing is when a concrete foundation contractor turns an unfinished basement area back into a room with walls and/or a floor. It is important to note that basement areas that do not contain walls will not qualify for full basement re-facing. For these types of foundations, a contractor may recommend pouring poured concrete foundations.
Steel building contractors are another group of professionals that homeowners should be aware of. Steel building contractors can come in and provide concrete foundation contractors with an estimate on how much it will cost to pour the steel frame portion of the house. In addition, steel building contractors can help with foundation footings, floor support, and other important elements of the house. When hiring a steel building contractor, make sure that you ask for references so that you can contact them for further information.
Many people don't realize that a concrete foundation contractor can also help with anchor bolts and support beams for steel buildings. Many times, a concrete foundation contractor will be able to provide a list of anchor bolts for steel buildings that are specially sized for these structures. In many cases, you will also need experienced contractors to install the roofing, flooring, and other components of the steel building. If you choose to have an anchor bolt or support beam installed by a general contractor, you must ensure that he has experience installing these components. If you choose to have an anchor bolt or support beam installed by a steel building contractor, you should ensure that he has experience installing it.

Cup of Revenge | Draco Malfoy
Pairings: Draco Malfoy x reader
Genre: Uhhhh fluff, maybe slight angst and yeah
Summary: He wasn’t well, even I could tell that. I knew something was up with him, now I just needed to find out what. This could really go one of two ways, incredibly good or horrifically bad.
Word Count: 6.7k
Warnings: Some swearing. It’s written in first person so be warned. It’s also kind of long but oh well. Your last name in this is Ambry just in case you get confused. Be warned about any grammar mistakes and what not.
This is my submission for @locke-writes Intro to 2020 challenge
Masterlist
Also requests are open. Thanks!
*********************************
Draco was acting differently, it didn’t take a genius to figure that out. We may not have been as good friends as we once were but I could still pick up on his feelings.
I raised an eyebrow, staring at the tall man in front of me as he tried to lie to me about how he was feeling.
“I’m just tired, that’s all.” He said, turning to make his way back into the Slytherin common room before I grabbed him. The sunken features of his face were even more prominent in the dingy light of the castle dungeon. Even now, I could fit my hand around his wrist, something which I was never normally able to do (I have small hands).
“I don’t know when you thought lying to my face would be a good idea, but let me remind you, it’s really not.” He gulped once again, furthering my suspicion that something was really wrong.
“Since when do you care Ambry, we haven’t talked in years.” Draco was trying to change the subject and get me riled up, but it wasn’t going to work at all.
“Who’s fault is that anyway? Besides, trying to distract me is going to get you nowhere.” I growled. “You better tell me what’s going on.”
“It’s nothing. Just drop it okay?” He hissed, finally becoming angry with me, glaring down, his eyes turning to a stormy grey. I just needed to push a couple more buttons and then he would spill whatever it is that he was hiding from me.
Draco, whilst he was incredibly clever, could be pretty dense at other times and never picked up on the fact that I knew all of his little quirks and what to say to get him to tell me his secrets. We had known each other since we were in nappies, our parents having been best friends when they went to school and were hoping for us to be the same. This lead to a lot of play dates and sleep overs and I was now able to read him like a book.
Unfortunately, our parents also shared the same views on half-bloods, muggle borns and blood traitors so you can imagine the uproar from my family when I was sorted into Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin like everyone else.
My parents then promptly forbid me from coming home during any of the holidays that weren’t the summer, seeing Draco and his family (who probably wanted nothing to do with me) and from calling them mum and dad.
They kept me around until I could fend for myself and then chucked me out into the big wide world. I was lucky enough to find a job and an apartment that I was able to rent for a cheap enough price during the summer holidays.
I thought that maybe, even if I had been sorted into Hufflepuff, Draco and my relationship would last at school. Except that was a far off dream, Draco had blanked me out for most of our years at Hogwarts and I had learnt to do the same with him.
The foundations of our friendship rocked even more when he found out that I was involved with Dumbledore’s Army last year. He had been the one to drag me to where Umbridge was rounding us up, glaring at me the entire way.
Whilst Harry and a couple of others made their way down to London that night, a few of us stayed at the castle to stop any of the Inquisitorial Squad reporting us to Fudge.
Draco duelled with me that day, the first and only time it had happened. The battle between the two of us had only been stopped as I had shot an curse to keep him immobile, before moving him away from the letter that he was going to write to his father about what had happened. I wasn’t entirely sure whether or not he had forgiven me for that one.
Even if our relationship had failed, I was still worried about him. Especially due to the fact that, ever since the start of our sixth year, he had become even paler and more sickly looking, his cheek bones protruding from his thin face as he stared unseeingly past me.
I had managed to swap prefect duty with the person that Draco was normally with, and thus I was here, confronting him and trying to get an answer out of the stubborn man.
“I’m not going to drop it Draco. You look like death. What’s going on?” He ran a hand through his hair before making his way off in the direction of our prefect route. Running to keep up with his long legs, I continued to pester him with questions.
“Why won’t you just tell me? Seriously Draco, I’m worried.” He stopped at those words before slamming me into the wall behind us.
“You’re worried about me! You betrayed me.” He pushed himself off the wall, continuing our round. I rolled my eyes at his dramatic statement before hurrying after him.
“I’ll find out somehow Malfoy, you know me.”
“Will you leave me alone, Ambry?” He growled, scratching his left arm absentmindedly and my brain started to connect the dots.
“Malfoy, don’t tell me…” I trailed off, watching as he stiffened, pausing the scratching on his arm as he stared at me in horror.
Draco looked like he was in the middle of a mental breakdown as he realised that I had managed to work out what he was doing. He knew that I was very sharp when it came to uncovering people’s secrets before they wanted me to.
“Go away!” He looked so upset with himself. I glanced at his left arm, hoping and praying to any god out there that he hadn’t done what I thought he had done. He saw me looking and began to back away, my fear only growing as he did so.
“Don’t even think about it.” He warned, backing away as I moved forward.
“Draco.” I pleaded, holding out my hand as he continued to back away. “If it’s not true, then you have nothing to fear, just show me your left arm.”
However, I knew almost for sure that I was right so I cast an immobulus charm on him and grabbed his wand before casting the counter curse so that he was standing opposite me. His resolve seemed to crumble as he let me grab his left arm, not even trying to protest. He looked down, blond hair falling in front of his eyes, that seemed fragmented in the light.
I pulled his sleeve up so that the dark mark was shown, marring his skin. It was visibly irritated, the skin around it red and there were scars covering the top of it as if he had tried to scratch it off. My heart broke for the boy in front of me, knowing that Draco wouldn’t have done that if there was any other choice.
“Draco…” I stared up at him, tracing around the dark mark as I did so, trying to soothe the agitated skin. Glancing up at him, I caught his eyes and pleaded with him to help me understand what was going on. “Why?”
“He was going to kill me, what do you think I was going to say?” He hissed back, his voice breaking as he did so. “He’s threatening me, my parents, you. He was going to kill everyone.”
“What’s he asked you to do?” I pressed as Draco rolled down his sleeves and straightened his blond hair again. He rolled his eyes at me. “And why am I involved in that list? As you said, we haven’t talked in years.”
He gulped and sighed before answering.
“My happiness depends on you. You’ve always been my light, my best friend.” I smiled up at him sadly, the lines reminding me of our past memories together. “Why do you think he’s asked me to do something anyway?”
“You forget, we grew up in the same types of households, I know how it goes.” He gulped, remembering that he and I were very alike. Both of us had been prepared to take over the family mantle and to take up the dark mark if our parents fell. However, I got out of that life but Draco was still stuck in it. “Tell me, I can help.”
“Kill Dumbledore…He’s asked me to kill Dumbledore.” He replied, rubbing his hand against his face in pain. He glanced back up at me and I saw unshed tears in his eyes. He was terrified.
Draco, who had been my knight in shining armour for years, was absolutely terrified of this. I gulped knowing that it was my turn to stand up and help him in any way that I could.
Shuffling over to his hunched figure, I wrapped an arm around his shoulder and kissed the top of his head, running my hands through his hair as he sighed.
“We can stop this you know.” I told him. “This doesn’t have to be a be all end all situation.”
“How are we going to stop this? Have you met that man, he’s too powerful for us to defeat. We’re students.” Draco moaned, running his hands through his hair again as he pulled away from me.
“No, he’s not. That man’s still scared of one person.” I told him, grabbing his hand and beginning to lead him back towards the gargoyle staircase. Draco was thinking, trying to work out the pros and cons of the situation as I slowly lead him towards the office.
It gave him enough time to try and stop me from talking to the old professor and bolt. But still, he continued to walk with me, staring at our intertwined hands.
“I’m sure that he’s the person who can help us. I have a plan and I think that maybe he’ll be able to help us execute it.” I said, gripping his hands a little tighter as we both ducked out of sight of Mrs Norris, who was prowling the corridors.
“What’s your plan o powerful one?” He said sarcastically, raising an eyebrow as I winked up at him, both of us pressed together in a tight nook on the fifth floor.
“You’ll find out when we get to Dumbledore’s office.”
“Ambry, just don’t. He can’t help me, you can’t help me. I have to carry this mission out alone.” He sighed, twisting his wrist so that I released his hand from my grasp.
It was at that moment that luck seemed to be on my side and Professor Dumbledore appeared from round the corner and approached the two of us.
“Ah. Mr Malfoy, Miss Ambry. This is a pleasant surprise. Why don’t you step into my office for a minute?” He asked, not leaving any room for arguments as Draco and I followed the old man towards the gargoyle staircase.
We must have looked like quite a trio as we walked past; Draco looked like he was being sent to the gallows, I looked worried and Dumbledore just had a knowing glint in his eyes as he watched the two of us closely.
We finally made it up into his office and sat opposite the large desk in two chairs, that he had transfigured from books. I had never been in his office before, and I looked around in awe at the room; the paintings on all the walls, the phoenix that watched the both of us carefully, and the large book cases that lined the room. Draco wasn’t as impressed as I was, and just sat staring at the desk, his hand still clutching mine as he waited for the old professor to speak.
“Now Mr Malfoy, would you like to tell me what’s bothering you?” The professor asked as he shot me a look over his half-moon glasses. Draco sighed and looked away from our joined hands, knowing that Dumbledore would be able to pick up on any bullshit that he tried.
“Draco. Would it be easier to show him?” I whispered, rubbing my thumb across his knuckles and squeezing his hand. It seemed that our relationship had picked up where we left off, and we were back to being (relatively) affectionate with one and other. That was always a good thing about our relationship, we were always able to reconcile after any argument no matter how big it was. As Draco said, we were one and others light to try and keep up sane in this harsh world.
It had always been that way around, me providing affection that both of us had been starved of, and him lapping it all up eagerly. He was a big softy under all his bad boy persona.
Draco, after a couple minutes of tense silence, began to roll up his left sleeve to show the scratched dark mark that had tainted his skin. He looked away, staring into my eyes, ashamed that he had to talk to a teacher about what to do. Dumbledore nodded at the sight and then commented;
“You were supposed to kill me, weren’t you?” Draco nodded, still not meeting the teachers eyes. “Well, this is a stroke of luck isn’t it?”
Draco snapped his head to Dumbledore’s as he glanced between me and the man, confused at the professor’s happy tone.
“How is this lucky?” He asked, looking at the mark, that was now hidden again underneath his shirt, with disgust.
“Well, now there’s someone on the inside isn’t there? I do believe that was your plan all along Miss Ambry.” I nodded at his statement, still confused at how he had worked out my plan before I told him. Draco sat a bit further upwards in his chair, clenching my hand tighter than before.
“Yes sir. I thought that maybe we could use the coins from Dumbledore’s Army and then have Draco be an informant in You-Know-Who’s ranks.” I said, looking at Draco, who had a furrowed brow.
“Coins? What coins?” He questioned, though Dumbledore and I ignored him.
“Yes, but we should make it look realistic so maybe if Draco could keep up with the assassination attempts. It would mean that Voldemort wouldn’t have a reason to suspect him.”
“He would need to learn occlumency.” I told Dumbledore, becoming more certain with the idea that we created. It would need some more planning, but I thought that we could pull it off. Draco was still looking between the two of us, confused as to what we were talking about.
Dumbledore nodded and suggested Snape before chatting over some final details and letting us go back to our common rooms.
We began to make our way back down to the Great Hall level so that I could branch off to the Hufflepuff common room and he could continue down to the dungeons.
“What did he mean by coins?” Draco asked, pulling me to a stop in front of the corridor leading to the Hufflepuff common room. I pulled out the galleon that was my DA coin and showed it to him.
“It can show a message on it and it used to let us know when to come to the room of requirements to practice.” He picked the coin up from my palm, flipping it over in his hands before giving it back to me.
“Are you going to make a couple?” I nodded at his statement.
“I’ll ask Hermione what the charm is and then I can make one for me, you and Dumbledore so that we can communicate with each other about the plan.” I told Draco who nodded, looking slightly confused about all the information that was being thrown at him in such a short space of time.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Draco replied, wrapping me in a hug as he pressed his lips to my head. “Thank you, for doing this...and, I’m sorry, for these past few years. I let my fathers teachings get in the way of our friendship. I know that’s not a proper excuse but I’ll do anything to try and save our relationship.”
“It’s not a problem Draco. You know that I’d do anything to help you.” I made my way out of his arms and back into the Hufflepuff common room as he trotted off downstairs to sleep. It was an interesting night, that was for sure.
************************
I had managed to get the charm off of Hermione relatively easily, and had made the coins for Draco, Dumbledore and I. Luckily the charm was still relatively simple, and I managed to make three galleons and deliver them to the other two (it also made meeting up to discuss secret plans a lot easier).
Draco and I had then sat down, a couple of weeks before Christmas, and had brainstormed a couple of ideas for what was going to happen after the holidays, in terms of assassination attempts, and how his occlumency lessons were going with Snape.
Dumbledore had also suggested that we think of something that could be used to assassinate him before Christmas.
Thus, I was brewing a poison in the dungeons, under Snape’s supervision, whilst Draco had his occlumency lesson. It would have been a strange sight if anyone came into the room, me (a Hufflepuff) brewing a poison and Draco (a Slytherin) having occlumency lessons.
Slughorn had vacated the room after hearing that Snape wanted to use it so that Draco and I could complete an extra-credit project.
After two hours of slaving away at the cauldron, I finished the poison and began to watch the occlumency lesson, smiling as Draco managed to keep Snape out of his head for the third time that night. When they had finished practicing, I gave Draco a glass of water and waited for him to catch his breath as I told him all about the potion. Snape had tested it and deemed it above average (so in other words, it could be used).
I’d already sent Dumbledore a message over the galleons, who had then sent a bottle of mead to us and we had tipped the poison in, before giving it to Professor Slughorn.
Draco had used the imperious curse, so that Slughorn thought it was his idea, which I wasn’t impressed with. I was not a fan of the Unforgivable curses, having seen the damage that they could cause a person.
That night was a good one, as the plan was working a lot better than we hoped. It was all coming together quite nicely.
The next morning, I walked into the Great Hall behind Draco, who still looked tired and pale from the occlumency lesson last night, though less like death. I almost walked straight into his back as he stopped still, staring at a Gryffindor seventh year who was standing at the other end of the hall talking to Harry Potter. I also froze, just like Draco as I realised that everything we worked for could go down the drain if Potter decided to stick his nose into our business.
That was Katie Bell, the girl who was cursed by the necklace that Draco forced her to take. She was also, unfortunately, a friend of Potter’s, which meant that he was bound to go meddling. Bell would probably further confirm his suspicions about Draco and them clashing would not be pleasant.
Draco almost ran out of the room, pushing past others coming in, and I quickly followed him, making sure that I kept him in my eye sight as he moved into Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom.
I rushed in after him, my heart breaking for my best friend who was struggling to come to terms with the fact that he had ended up hurting someone, even if he was trying to protect himself and his family.
He had taken his jumper off and loosened his tie, the top button of his shirt open, taking in big gulps of air as he clutched the bathroom sink, heaving sobs echoing in the small room. Moving up behind him, I touched his back gently to let him know I was there, before wrapping my arms around his waist. He turned around and wrapped me in a hug, burying his head into my shoulder as I ran my hand through his hair, holding me as tightly as I was holding him.
“She’s alive, no one was seriously harmed.” I whispered, keeping an eye on the door in the reflection of the mirror. I glared at Potter as he walked into the room, a book in one hand and his wand in the other. I drew my own wand, staring Potter down.
Potter and I may be on familiar terms but Draco was still my best friend and I would protect him against anyone, even if the other person was a friend of mine as well.
“Piss off Potter.” I hissed at the man. Draco stiffened under my touch, before he too turned around and drew his wand, neither of us pleased with the outcome. “We’re not looking for a fight.”
“You were the one who gave her that necklace, weren’t you?” Potter spat, ignoring my words as Draco and I bristled.
Potter threw the first spell, which I deflected, and then Draco sent one towards him. Potter sent another spell which bounced off my shield and hit the faucet, causing water to start to spray. Draco began to lead Potter away from me, as I tried to control the water that was spurting out of the broken tap. The ground beneath us began to flood with water as I worked to get it repaired.
I could hear the fight coming back towards me again and quickly made my way over to stand back to back with Draco, not sure where the next spell from Potter would come from. I sent a quick glance at Draco, who squeezed my hand lightly in reassurance.
Unfortunately, the spell came in my direction and it wasn’t one that I had ever heard before or knew of.
“Sectumsempra.” Potter shouted and all of a sudden, I felt a searing amount of pain through my chest and back, as if someone was cutting me open with a knife. I let out a shout, before stumbling and dropping my wand.
Draco caught me as I fell down, trying to be careful as he swore loudly. I could see the water around us start to turn red with my blood and I could feel myself getting tired. Potter began to run towards us, skidding to a stop when he saw that there were cuts on my torso and back, not Draco’s.
“I didn’t…I didn’t mean to…” He couldn’t finish his sentence as Snape brushed past him and began to say a spell that lessened the pain slightly as my wounds sealed back together. At that point, I blacked out, the pain becoming too much for me to handle.
I woke up later that night, lying on a bed in the hospital wing, with Draco clutching my hand tightly as he waited for me. I squeezed his hand, smiling widely at the boy as he jumped out of his skin. Giggling, I watched as he sighed in relief and smiled down at me.
“Hi.” I whispered as Draco tried to calm down, before handing me a glass of water.
“Hey.”
“You okay?” I asked, looking at the tall man in front of me.
“I think I should be asking you that.”
“I’m fine. Wasn’t your fault. What happened to Potter?”
“Detention and he lost 100 points for Gryffindor.” He smirked at that statement and I could bet that he was very pleased about that considering the house rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Madame Pomfrey came round moments later and shooed Draco out so that she could look at the slashes.
“They might leave some marks Miss Ambry, but otherwise you’re good to go.” I thanked the healer and sat up to put my uniform back on as she closed the curtains around my bed. I managed to get everything back onto my body, bar my tie, as I was struggling to do it up.
“Draco.” I called, hoping that he was near the bed. He appeared inside the curtains moments later and I showed him the tie which he tied for me. Smoothing it out, he helped me into the over robes, that all the students wore, before offering me his arm and leading me towards the common room.
“Ambry.” Someone called from behind me and I turned to see Potter, Granger and Weasley moving towards us in a hurry. Draco glared at Harry, wrapping his arms protectively around my waist as he did so. “I wanted to apologise to you. I’m really sorry, I had no idea that the spell did that.”
“Why use a spell when you didn’t know what it caused?” Draco spat, glaring harshly at the man. I slapped him on the shoulder and smiled at the distraught boy in front of me. Potter was a good soul really, he just was a bit clueless sometimes.
“It’s fine Harry, it could have been worse. I’ll see you later.” I sent a warm smile their way, as Draco glared over the top of my head, before turning back towards the common room.
Draco lead me to the barrels that were the entrance for the room, and gave me a quick kiss on the top of my head before disappearing back to the dungeons.
*******************
Months later, our plan was finally ready, all the careful planning that Draco, Snape, Dumbledore and I put into this would finally pay off. Of course the only downside was that Dumbledore was going to die, but he had assured us multiple times that he was “going to die anyway” and “why wait for the inevitable?” which were morbid thoughts.
Dumbledore notified us, over the coins, that he was taking Potter with him to find the horcrux and that tonight should be the night that he dies. Neither of us were very pleased with the upcoming plan but it was supposedly for the greater good.
The last dinner before the proper war started was tense, well at least it was for me. Draco and I kept catching each other’s eyes from across the hall and giving each other reassuring looks. He motioned for me to follow him out at the end. I nodded slightly, knowing that he wanted to say goodbye before shit hit the fan.
Draco walked out and, moments later, I followed him towards the room of requirements. He pulled me into the room as he quickly closed the door.
“If I don’t see you after this, please make sure you keep safe Ambry.” I smiled up at him, nodding slightly.
“I’ll be fine Draco. You know how to contact me if you need anything, right?” He nodded, showing me the coin that was kept in his pockets. I smiled, pressing my lips against his cheeks before I moved away from him.
“When this happens, don’t come out from hiding. You’ll be pretty high up on the hit list considering you’re a blood traitor and all. I’ll see you soon.” He said.
I began to walk out, waving over my shoulder before I heard him curse behind me. I turned around to ask him what was wrong, when I found myself pushed into yet another wall as his lips met mine in a kiss so passionate that I lost myself in it.
Pulling away, he kissed me again. Everything that he couldn’t say translated into that one kiss.
“Stay safe Draco, I’m expecting a date when this blows over.” I whispered against his lips as he rubbed my arms.
“Don’t die.” I winked at him and finally left the room of requirements, knowing that I wouldn’t see him until next summer at least.
***************************
I didn’t return to Hogwarts the next year, scared for my life as a blood traitor and someone who was supposedly high on the hit list. I had my parents to blame for that one.
Instead, I went on the run and tried to hide out in the muggle world. Of course, I would have gone to a different country altogether, but Draco needed me here and I would stay to finish the plan.
Every night, since I first went on the run, I had begun to listen to Potterwatch (a corny name I know) to try and work out what was going on whilst I was away from it all. They had sent out a couple of messages already asking about my whereabouts and Dean Thomas’. Occasionally, they would send a message that involved some of the information that Draco had procured.
When Draco found any new information, he would tell me over the galleon, in a code we had made up, and then I would send it down the DA galleon that Hermione had given me two years ago, making sure that someone had got it.
It was in June that I finally went back as a call had gone out over Potterwatch to tell us that we needed to make our way into Hogsmeade and then Hogwarts immediately. I had apparated over to Hogsmeade, landing in the Hogs Head pub, before making my way into the castle, through a secret tunnel which came out inside the room of requirements.
The room had become a base for the DA members; hammocks lining the walls and a bathroom and kitchen set up for the students to make sure that they could be self-sufficient.
“Where did the information come from? About the attack tonight?” I heard Harry ask as he looked round the room, his eyes brushing over me as he did so.
“Got it over the DA galleon, thought it was one of you lot.” Lee Jordan, Potterwatch’s host, stated as he showed the coin which had my latest message on it.
“Then who sent it to you? How do we know that we can trust this information?” Harry asked.
“Harry.” I called, stepping past people to see him.
“Ambry, you’re okay.” Hermione said, pulling me into a hug. I nodded. I turned back to Harry before he could ask the same question.
“I’ve been the one sending the information.” Everyone’s eyebrows raised as they turned to me. I pulled the two galleon’s out of my pocket, showing him the DA one and my own.
“What?” Ron asked, his mouth open in shock.
“There was a plan, to help us win the war quicker. Only four people were in on it, one being me, another being Draco and Dumbledore. The last ones still working at the moment.” Everyone’s mouths hung open in shock as they stared at me. “Draco’s been sending me information from the inner circle of death eaters and then I’ve been sending it onto you guys.” Harry began to splutter at the new information.
“But what about Dumbledore?” Hermione prompted, staring at me.
“We had to make it look realistic. It was Dumbledore’s idea really, Draco and I just followed instructions.” I smiled weakly, before showing my own coin to Harry, with a message from Draco on it. “You’re not the only one who wants revenge Harry, a lot of us pure bloods have parents that have been forced into taking the dark mark, or tried to force us. We have people of our own to avenge. Just tell me where you want the Slytherins who are going to fight and I’ll make sure that everyone’s ready.”
**************************
There was a scream from outside the Great Hall and all of our heads shot up in an instant. I pulled the cloth over the young girls head before making my way over to Pansy as both of us began to head outside. Most of us who were from Slytherin, or pure blood families, stayed at the back so that our parents wouldn’t be able to see us. Sure we were betraying them, but we didn’t really want it publicly known.
Reaching Draco, who I hadn’t seen in over a year, I pushed my hand into his and both of us held onto one and other tightly. I didn’t want to look at Harry’s body, the sight too haunting as I watched the last hope lie there, dead.
Looking back out towards the Death Eaters, I saw my parents faces of complete and utter betrayal as they glared at me. I took in a sharp breath as I stared at them, clutching onto Draco’s hand even tighter than before. Whilst my parents might have disowned me, they still raised me for a large part of my life and I still hated to disappoint them, even after not being a part of their family for seven years.
Voldemort was talking, calling for people to come over and join him as the war was lost. He was already celebrating and we hadn’t even surrendered yet. His snake light eyes flickered dangerously, watching to see if any of us stepped forward. I saw, from the corner of my eyes, Narcissa step forward, her hand outstretched towards her son.
“Draco.” His mother called, motioning for Draco to walk towards them, and accept being a death eater. He stood his ground, wrapping his arms around me and keeping his eyes on the top of my head. I squeezed his waist in support as I looked at his chest.
They called again, this time louder, pleading with him to come to them. But still he refused, both of his hands holding onto my waist tightly.
I knew this was hard for him, betraying his family and pushing all of his beliefs away as he stayed as still as a statue. I could feel his shaky breath brushing against my ears as we stood there for what seemed like hours.
Removing my head from Draco’s chest, I looked around, taking in the faces of the other students who stared at us. They all seemed shocked that Draco was standing with them and against his own flesh and blood. He had finally made his own choice on the matter.
His parents stopped calling, betrayal clear on their faces as they stared at their only son. Voldemort was visibly frustrated with the fact that Draco hadn’t re-joined them.
*********************
The battle had ended shortly after that, Voldemort being defeated by Harry and Bellatrix by Molly Weasley. My parents had been brought into custody and were going to be held on trial at a later date that I needed to attend. Draco’s parents, along with many of his friends parents were also dragged in to be held accountable for what they had done.
Draco and I were sitting on a large piece of stone, that had come off of one of the towers, clutching onto one and other as we stared out at the castle that once held our home. Draco placed a kiss to my head, as Molly Weasley walked up to us.
“Do you two have a place to go?” She asked kindly staring down at the two of us.
“Yeah, my apartment’s still intact. We’re going to stay there for a bit.” I replied, smiling up at the woman.
“I wanted to thank you.” She said, directly addressing Draco as she did so. Draco looked up, surprised that she was talking to him. After everything that he had said about their family in his younger years, he never expected the matriarch to even look at him. “For saving my son.”
I glanced over at the Weasley clan seeing that, sure enough, all of the children were still there, in one piece more or less. Draco began to shake his head, protesting that he didn’t need thanks. In his mind, he believed that saving Fred’s life was how he repaid them for all of the trouble that he had caused.
“Draco.” I looked at him, elbowing him in the ribs as I did so, to try and make him accept their thanks. He sighed, glancing down at me and then back at the kind face of Molly Weasley.
“That’s okay. But really, you don’t need to thank me.” He said, looking down at the ground as a hint of colour raised in his cheeks. He wasn’t used to getting thanks, neither of us were as it really wasn’t in our parents manners to do so.
“If there’s anything we can do for you, let us know.” Molly squeezed my arm, before moving back to her own family who hugged her tightly.
“Ready to go home Draco?” I asked the tall man, who was still unmoving besides me. His head snapped up, registering that I was talking to him. He squeezed my hand, smiling before bending down to kiss me softly.
“Whenever you are, darling.” I beamed up at him as we made our way out, towards one of the apparition points in Hogsmeade.
“I like that nickname.” He chuckled quietly as I giggled.
**********************
19 Years Later
Kings Cross seemed to never become less chaotic. It was the first of September and all of the Hogwarts students were making their way to Platform 9 ¾ to board the train. Pushing past some muggle commuters who were trying to barge past my son and I, I lead Scorpius in the direction of the station wall.
Scorpius was practically bouncing with excitement as he looked at the station in awe. I chuckled lightly, placing my hands on his shoulders as we got closer to the platform entrance.
“Malfoy.” Someone called from behind me and I turned to see the Potter’s making their way towards me. I waved, bringing Scorpius to a stop as I did so. Harry and Ginny finally reached me, their children trailing behind them, staring at me in confusion.
“It’s good to see you again Potter. How have you been?” He nodded at my statement, smiling at Scorpius.
“I’ve been good, busy with work and all. How about you?” He replied, motioning to the baby bump that was showing underneath my flowery dress. I laughed, stroking the top of the bump.
“Yeah, good. Just sending this one off to Hogwarts for his first year.” I pulled Scorpius closer to me as he smiled widely.
“Really?” Ginny asked. “Well, we’re sending Albus off for his first year as well.” I waved to Albus, who was looking slightly nervous.
“Darling!” A voice called, followed by a chuckle as I felt my husband’s arms slip around my waist. “Potter, good to see you again.”
Our pair of twins, Lucy and Mickey, also collided into the two of us before running off with their older brother.
All of our children had inherited the Malfoy blonde hair and grey eyes, with only a hint of me in their looks. I was, however, holding out hopes for the next child to look like me instead of Draco.
“Malfoy.” Potter replied, shaking his hand as we all walked in the direction of the platform, chattering amongst ourselves as we did so. We went through the barrier first, before waving to the Potter’s and making our way a bit further down to where Pansy and Blaise were also standing with their own kids. We said hello to them before helping Scorpius put his stuff onto the train.
“Remember to write at some point please.” I reminded my oldest as I pressed a kiss to his head. Draco wrapped him into a hug as well, before I handed him a bag of sweets for the train. “Make some friends whilst your at it.” I winked at Scorpius as he laughed, before giving me one last hug and boarding the train.
I heard a grunt from behind me, and watched as the six-year-old twins, who had tried to run after their brother, were restrained by Draco. Taking Lucy out of Draco’s arms, I held her against my waist as our little family waved at Scorpius.
We wouldn’t see him again until the Christmas holidays, if he even wanted to come back. The train left the station and disappeared around the bend in the tracks and we waited until we couldn’t see it anymore.
“Do you think he’ll be okay?” Draco asked, worried due to his own experience at school, and what others may think about him due to his family name.
“He’s a Malfoy and an Ambry, he’ll give them hell.” I said, beginning to lead Draco out of the station by the arm, and back towards the car. He had become a bit more worried after becoming a father, but I was pretty sure that Scorpius was going to have a lot of fun and make a lot of friends.
“I’m sure you’re right Mrs Malfoy.” Draco said as he buckled the twins into their car seats and opened the door for me.
“I’m always right Draco.” I pressed a quick kiss to his lips before he shut the car door. I knew in my heart that everything was going to be okay.

Meet the one-stop-station for major DeFi services — SpaceSwap to be released in a week.
SpaceSwap protocol is here to rock the DeFi industry! It offers a revolutionary approach to yield farming by uniting an extensive range of liquidity pools in one place. Find out how to reap maximum benefits from your liquidity and earn MilkyWay (MILK) coins.
Uniswap is one of the DeFi industry pioneers — it served as the foundation for many similar projects. Its protocol has turned into the golden standard for its competitors. Yet, technological development doesn’t stand still, and in just two years, we have a whole new array of cool DeFi alternatives coming our way.
Users need more flexibility and profit-making options — this is why we are presenting SpaceSwap services. This is a new DeFi platform that provides all essential features for passive income and more. We’ve combined the best of both worlds: the comprehensive approach of existing liquidity pools and the thought-through mechanism of our protocol with myriad liquidity pools available.
The SpaceSwap team’s plan is ambitious. First, the platform will improve Uniswap protocol and add extra features. Within a few months, other major DeFi protocols will be added (Curve, Compound, Yearn, etc). Finally, the platform will turn into the aggregator of major DeFi services — the superstructure is aimed at uniting all liquidity pools via the SpaceSwap Station.
How does it work?
SpaceSwap is a handy service for liquidity pool providers. What makes it special? Uniswap allows users to earn trading fees only while their assets are stored in liquidity pools but SpaceSwap enlarges the opportunities for liquidity providers. It distributes MILK tokens among users who make crypto deposits. Even when you withdraw your funds and no longer add liquidity, your MILK reserves earn you a part of the protocol’s fee.
Since Uniswap is the first DeFi protocol to fork by SpaceSwap, it’ll serve as the foundation for the platform. Here’s how it works:
A user makes a cryptocurrency deposit to their preferred pools and enjoys growing profits — Uniswap pays loan interest rates offering both stable and variable APY rates. In the second case, earnings depend on the amount of LP tokens staked vs. the overall number of LP tokens in the pool. Once tokens are removed from the pool, the user’s passive income is ceased.
With SpaceSwap, it’s different because users also earn native Milky Way (MILK) tokens on top of interest rates. This brand-new protocol can be particularly profitable for early liquidity providers since MILK might soar in price after the platform is launched and integrated with major DeFi protocols.
The pools provided by SpaceSwap will be similar to Uniswap. After adding Curve, Compound, AAVE and other major lending protocols, it will support DeFi stablecoins and CeFi stablecoins (for example, aUSDT, yDAI, sUSD and wBTC), as well as various synthetic assets for cryptocurrencies and major oracles (MakerDAO, Compound).
When a sufficient amount of blocks is generated, the fees will be distributed to MILK token owners. For the first blocks, MILK rewards will be multiplied to encourage liquidity providers to move their assets.
When SpaceSwap gets launched, the community can vote for the pools or change the weight of MILK in them — the platform is fully democratized. Make sure to add MILK to Uniswap pool — it might be eligible for extra perks.

The Authority Hacker Review
The Internet has great diversity. There are lots of people and organizations who are selling just about anything online. And there are lots of training courses, books, conferences, and other networking opportunities available.
If you are a novice curious to discover the multifaceted nature of online marketing and want to teach yourself how to sell and market online by building an authority website, you may at some point have heard of a professional training program called Authority Hacker, which according to many professionals is amongst the few regularly updated courses delivering truly actionable tips and strategies to take your online venture to the next level.
Though little-known outside the online marketing community, online marketing is a $110 billion business. The key to online marketing is affiliate marketing and a myriad of other techniques, which involve connecting to potential customers, building trust and reputation, generating a lead, and then sale. Affiliate marketing involves businesses promising a customer or marketer or blogger some sort of reward if he or she brings in a lead or sale. A marketer may try to earn commissions by convincing their website visitor to buy new eyeglasses from Amazon, for example.
This kind of marketing works well if there’s a significant pool of people looking for the product or service, and it works poorly if very few people are interested, or there’s no pool to speak of.
In practice, either scenario means the typical affiliate earns more than many third-party marketers: higher prices paid to affiliates through their website (in the form of affiliate commissions) is a standard mechanism for driving sales to businesses. However, the question is, why would someone make a purchasing decision reading your content – that is your product review, or listicle, or just any form of content?
The answer is because people, especially those in your industry, trust you and considers you as an authority.
How do you build this trust? That’s exactly what you get to learn in the Authority Hacker course.
In-depth Authority Hacker Review
There is no dearth of online money-making courses that promise you the moon. They promise to make you a millionaire overnight, but as you must be aware by now, no such thing exists. Online gurus that promise such riches often make most of their money by selling these courses to beginners who don’t know any better. However, it does not mean that you can’t make money online. There are hundreds of thousands of individuals who have achieved success by working hard, and by following a system that is designed to help them achieve long-term success.
One such system that has worked wonders for hundreds of online entrepreneurs is the Authority Hacker system. In this Authority Hacker review, you will get to know who is behind this system, why the system works for people, and the pros and cons of the system along with some other important points.
What is Authority Hacker Pro?
Authority Hacker Pro is a digital marketing and authority website creation video training course from well-known digital marketers Gael Breton and Mark Webster. Authority Hacker Pro does not just teach you how to break the rules of digital marketing. It teaches you how to break through them to reach your target audience, build trust, take your online aspiration to the tipping point, and generate revenue online.
The course has been designed to give you detailed guidance on how to properly utilize many professional marketing tools and provide you with the knowledge needed to take on any online project you’ve ever dreamed is possible! If your skills have ever been questioned, this is the course for you featuring much powerful online marketing method and detailed training program that is built upon the core principals of effective communication, the power of your persuasive writing, and the ability to keep your audience on-board, engaged and satisfied.
Having personally gone through this mind-boggling, in-depth, and truly actionable course with over 370 videos unevenly distributed among many modules, I have learned three crucial components of creating a successful online business that is driven by mistakes, honesty, and trust. I encourage people from all walks of life to take this course and do the same and experience a transformative journey of personal growth, business intelligence, and self-discipline.
1. Build Trust by Producing Real Content.
If you’re serious about breaking the rules, you need to earn credibility and trust by sharing real work with real customers. That doesn’t mean you need to bash your own company or a personal blog, but you need to give your work an honest frame so that everyone can see the process, errors, and all. That’s the only way it can be an authority in your niche.
2. Be Blunt About Making Mistakes.
There are lots of rules about how to do things in digital marketing — although there’s no clear rule about what constitutes a technical or design mistake — and lots of rules about how to deal with mistakes and feedback. Being straightforward about making them, including admitting that your solution is inferior to the alternatives, is key to successfully adapting to the ever-changing digital marketing landscape.
3. Build User Trust by Being Honest
Getting customers to trust you will take a lot of effort, and some of it involves giving people real feedback and giving them new tools and techniques. Having to acknowledge mistakes will keep you honest and inform you about what you need to fix.
A lot of this can be figured out through trial and error, and experience that mirrors what you’re doing. But if you’re serious about building an authority website that is in just helpful to many people in your niche, but is also profitable, you will have to embark
on the long road to making trust and confidence the foundation upon which you build a successful business.
Who Is Authority Hacker Pro For?
Authority Hacker is meant for individuals wanting to succeed online through digital marketing. The nuts and bolts of digital marketing are like any other part of marketing: it depends on knowledge of and expertise in developing target markets, research and trends, and marketing tools (including marketing automation). As well, it depends on having and showing reliable metrics that demonstrate a return on investment.
Authority Hacker educates you about these factors along with many other intricacies involved in digital marketing through 350+ detailed video tutorials, blueprints, and done for your templates.
It’s crucial to understand that there are many detrimental factors that combine to provide the measurable returns on digital marketing — the ways in which the media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, drive users to or from websites that they might otherwise not visit. The ways in which marketing capabilities are combined with SEO and the ways in which content is delivered to audiences from different demographics segments.
So even when marketers know that digital marketing is often not easy and demands continuous efforts from your end just to stay afloat, why is it so popular among digital nomads?
The attraction of digital marketing is not just it gets you more opportunities to reach your targeted audience across the globe, but the fact that it can be done easily, especially when you have access to necessary tools and proper guidance makes it a lucrative career option.
Overall, Authority Hacker Pro is meant to give you the opportunity to build a personal authority in the field of your interest, which can then translate into more sales opportunities, better customer retention, and more revenue.
Who Is Behind It?
This system has been created by Mark Webster & Gael Breton. They introduce this course in 2014 in order to teach others how to build a sincere online business by building an authority website based on your interest or passion.
Before publishing this course, the founders operated their own Internet marketing agency that supported a lot of well-known brands on inbound marketing. They had a successful digital marketing agency, but they were not happy with their life, and they started building their own websites. They struggled but achieved success by building a system to turn their website into an authority site. In fact, it is still so successful that it attracts more than half a million visitors each month.
They have successfully replicated this process many times over, and the Authority Hacker system is nothing but a step-by-step breakdown of the process they have followed to achieve success on their own.
The core of their program is The Authority Site System. They teach others how to create authority sites by following a step-by-step process.
How Does It Work?
One thing that separates The Authority Site System from several other online money making programs is that the creators understand the problems faced by passionate online entrepreneurs. They do not recommend creating a website around a hot idea or something that is not the passion or interest of creators. They recommend building an authority site that is woven around a specific problem or passion of the website owner.
This leads to the creation of content that is highly valuable and resonates with visitors. They teach about a variety of monetization options, including making money by selling ads, making money by affiliate marketing, and selling your own products or services.
They have turned all this knowledge into a step-by-step system on how to lay down the foundation and grow an authority site in your chosen niche or passion and turn it into a profitable online business.
Features
Here’s a list of some of the most useful features of this program:
Video Lessons
While every online money-making course these days features video lessons, the video lessons in this course are different from the others. For starters, they are more hands-on. As an online business owner and learner, you will engage with real-life cases in which you will make decisions and make mistakes while being challenged to develop and execute the right strategy based on what you see. In doing so, you will utilize the guidance provided in this course and tools online to create an online business model in the most efficient way and strategically build your way to be an authority in your niche.
Authority Hacker gives you an over the shoulder view of their system. They do not just read from the slides. You get to see real-life websites, real-life systems, and how they overcome common roadblocks faced by webmasters.
They make real demonstrations, and you get to see the real effort. Also, the videos are continuously updated, which means you will never get stale information, which is often the most common problem faced by students buying online courses.
This is a great place to start if you want to improve your business, build more money, and learn how to attract customers.
Templates
You get access to templates that are designed to help you learn how to quickly apply for the course. Although these templates will help you start on the right track, they aren’t designed to be a complete solution. Depending on your market and business objectives, you’ll need to make specific changes to the template.
It’s crucial to remember that these templates give you an idea of the kind of content that should be published on a website in order to get organic traffic from Google and other search engines. The templates are designed with the best marketing practices in mind that work in the long run.
Access to Real-Life Case Studies
It’s very rare that online course creators share real-life success stories, either of their own or of their students. This is what makes the Authority Hacker different. You get an insight into the mindset of successful marketers and how they approach the daily tasks of content generation, advertising, design, and management, and the end-users.
This authority hacker module’s content is based on the author’s personal experience, and that of the people and brands he encountered through his journey. The course also integrates the real-world expertise from several of the top online marketing experts to provide an easy to follow series that can be applied to your daily fight to stay relevant.
They share information about their real-life success stories. They share actual sites, the traffic numbers of those websites, the process behind building those websites, keyword research, content creation, and a lot of other things.
This course combines the real-world insights provided by experts with the proven techniques used to make real-life business and marketing success. In other words, you get to learn how others have achieved success by following their system, and that is something you don’t really get with many of the other online courses.
To-Do List
Building authority websites isn’t easy. It takes guts, and your willingness to invest the time and money into those websites, to build a following, to grow your reputation and drive sales. It can be one of the most dangerous and rewarding endeavors. For this reason, people go to great lengths to create the right impression and give their audience something they’ve never imagined.
However, you will want to work smarter than harder, and for that, you need a foolproof, step-by-step blueprint to achieve success with an authority site and to do everything you can to avoid the pitfalls that exist. To accomplish your goals, you need to make the right decisions about how, where, and when to present your content on each and every channel you choose to use, and with the Authority Hacker course, you will learn exactly how to accomplish this goal.
This to-do list module will give you a full project management system to organize all the aspects of your website building project. In short, it helps you remain organized when building your authority website.
Community
One of the biggest advantages of Authority Hacker is the active user community on Facebook in their private Facebook group. As a marketer, you will get to learn from some influential and important marketer who shares your passion and wants to help you with your project. It is always exciting to meet like-minded professionals in the community, and you will not be deprived of information that will improve your website project productivity. Moreover, your access to this private Facebook group is guaranteed to be lifelong, giving you ample opportunity for networking and learning.
There is a lot of information shared by students as well as the creators of the course. It will help you a lot as you get to brainstorm, share ideas, and consult with other members. You also get access to a forum where you can ask any doubts you might have regarding the system and get answers from the creators as well as other members.

The Modules
The Authority Site System gives you access to a total of 5 in-depth modules. You get to learn everything right from niche selection to keyword research to content creation to backlink building and other important things required for building an authority website.
Here Is What Is Covered in These Modules:
Selection of Niche
Professional Internet marketers and entrepreneurs argue that niche marketing is a proven way to gain the attention of customers in rapidly changing markets. They make the counterintuitive point that picking the market you don’t understand – actually, a much worse choice – can make it even easier to move people in your direction.
If you want to attract customers, you first have to try to understand your new target market. It’s best to pick a market you understand and up to predict what products, services or types of services are poised to succeed. Then, you implement any one or most of digital marketing techniques to promote those products and services via various marketing channels to generate revenue. And that’s exactly what you get to learn in this Authority Hacker module.
In this module, you get to learn how to choose a successful niche. Niche selection is the very foundation of the authority website system. If the foundation is weak or you choose the wrong niche, you will end up wasting a lot of time and money. So, pay special attention to this module to learn how to choose a niche that is likely to be successful for you.
Setting up the Site
You are setting up an authority website. In this module, you get to know how to set up your website to ensure it is technically right. The knowledge that you get in this module will make your site better performing, with better usability as well. One of the key components of any successful marketing Endeavor is to have competent website design to ensure its easily accessible via any device and is easy to navigate. Moreover, you will also need to gather essential statistics related to how your visitors are interacting with your content for which you will need to install analytical extensions.
This module delivers exactly that! It teaches you about buying the right domain name, how to set up WordPress, the type of plugins you should install on your website, how to set up pages, and add Google Analytics as well as other such things. In other words, you do not need to worry about any of the technical aspects of setting up a website, and you get to know how to handle your website to ensure it is functioning as it should be.
Creation of Content
Ostensibly, content marketing is about putting all the right words in all the right places, to help people find your company, product, or service. And it is often effective, especially when optimized with standard SEO practices. But what is really behind the term?
First, it doesn’t sound new — content has been around forever. But there is a lesson here. Think of TV, radio, and print — not as pieces of art (which they are) but as tools for communicating information.
Second, content marketing isn’t easy but also not impossible! Content marketing needs a catchy headline because people usually don’t research companies or look for their answers by reading Wikipedia entries and reads on CIO. Instead, they Google themselves, or whatever, and start asking questions, nearest business, listicles, and then going through the process of figuring out the answers by clicking on the titles that look most appealing.
Content marketing has the power to improve your reputation with the same people who might never consider buying from you in the first place. And that’s exactly what you are trying to achieve.
In this module, you will learn how to create content for building an authority website. The major difference between an authority website and other websites is the quality of content. On an authority website, you’ll find a lot of high-quality content that covers every topic in detail from all sides. However, this isn’t really possible without having a system in place, and this is where this model shine.
It teaches you how to go about creating high-quality content that is likely to attract users as well as search engines. Further, in this model, they also discuss keyword research. You get to know how to do keyword research based on the niche you have selected. You also get to learn how to outsource content production.
Keyword research, in essence, is a data-driven process of finding user intent, questionaries, and search volume of any specific term in a specific geographic location. Keyword research is definitely a complicated process, and though using many premia and even free tools you can cut down on manual work, it still requires a keen understanding of knowing the steps to evaluate the competition of any specific search term, associated keywords as well as creating a detailed plan so that your website ranks for that term in the shortest time possible.
Authority Hacker goes deep into this topic and gets you the necessary knowledge to build up your own keyword research strategy so you can help your business succeed faster and remain afloat in the ever-changing dynamics of digital marketing.
Link Building
In this module, you get to learn how to build a white hat and authority links to your website. They share a lot of white hat techniques that have worked for a lot of other members of the system.
Link building is an effective way to prove your website’s authority to Google and other major search engines. Link building is unarguably a complicated process that involves detailed planning, research, content creation, optimization, and, most importantly, promotion. Google, which accounts for 65% of global online search delivering over a billion search a day, is well-positioned to determine the laws of SEO, especially when businesses and marketers like you want to tap into the vast opportunity to gain exposure for free. Unfortunately, the path to success on Google, which essentially means ranking on the first page among the top three search results, is more than often challenging, if not impossible. There are many factors that go into determining whether your website or any specific page will ever be able to rank on Google.
One of the key factors is the backlink quality of your website, which is determined by how many niches related, higher authority; websites are linking back to your website. It’s not something that can be achieved in a year or two and requires continuous effort from your end to prove to the community that the content you are regularly publishing on your website can be trusted and is indeed well researched. Only when you have sufficient exposure and reputation, you will be able to gain organic backlinks and thus see a massive positive impact on organic search traffic. However, there are other ways too, but Google considers them natural, but are still many marketers, including some prominent websites are using these strategies to prove their authority in a specific market to Google and other search engines.
Authority Hacker helps you understand the entire process in detail and also provides you with blueprints that, when implemented properly, can definitely help you gain higher authority backlinks without much struggle.
