"SEN' Exhibition in the process of being installed.
Exhibition opens November 15th.
"Lisa’s art practice is an ongoing investigation of gender archetypes and hybridizations, as well as an examination into her own personal history. Through obsessive repetition and re-contextualization, she takes traditional feminine handicrafts and elevates them into the realm of fine art. For this exhibition, Lisa hones in on Japan’s historical and cultural fixation on the number 1000."

I was told awhile ago outside the Revolution cafe that everything we see and use is made from the natural world. It seems obvious as of course, everything must be made by what exists. Ore is mined and becomes steel and is transformed into that skyscraper over there. But the reason the fact struck me as we have a tendency to view the objects around us as "natural" and "unnatural", when it is all essentially - nature.

Amidst the harried go go go culture of today's world, Bay Area artist Gail Tarantino takes the time to savor life. She is the rare individual who is astutely present in each moment; a necessary quality which she engages to contemplate the potential poetry -both visual and literal - in the things around her that most people overlook. Her 4 pieces that are currently are being shown feature an experience of reflecting on the past as it still affects us.
