If only huh? Things would be so much quieter. The constant bustle of activity in his mind was one of those things he wished he could desperately escape. It was non-stop, eidetic memory as much as a hindrance as an asset. ( Not only did he have to experience eternity? He had to remember it too. ) Every minute detail one would overlook, every frustrating failure. All of it in high-definition. Yet what he pondered? Was supposed to be private, so why didn’t Lucien agree? Why did that infuriating telepath take great delight in sharing people's most intimate moments? Boundaries existed for a reason. ‘Wait, did you just call me sunshine?’ A plethora of emotions crossed features, settling for disgust as he regarded him and snatched up the file; wishing to be anywhere but there. Sometimes working for L and Strix was more headache than it was worth - yet their unlimited resources and disposable assets were impossible to replace and Uinseann himself, highly respectable. ( Yeah, he could definitely be in worst company. ) He’d noticed Ruby spinning a deadly blade around - no doubt someone had been foolish enough to gift her yet another balisong. Would they ever learn?

‘Did he say that?’

{ Few people understood the DEVIL despite holding false opinions of him. To say Lucifer was misunderstood was an understatement. ( Underneath all the self-loathing he was the epitome of compassion. ) He cared deeply about right and wrong; he just had a very unethical way of showing it. No one had taught him otherwise. Yet if anyone was to know what he was thinking - it was his twin. }

{ As far as DEMONS were concerned she was bearable; her sweet nature while at times irksome rather infectious. ( For one simple reason. Unlike the majority of people pleasers? It was genuine. ) Phenex never expected anything in return. It was a nice change of pace, he had to admit. }

‘Though did you expect me to be surprised? I know how phoenix’s operate. You’re not the first I’ve met.’

‘Oh and what way do you assume I’m treating you?’

{ Eyebrow TWITCHED at her vicious accusations, aware of what she desired beyond anything else. ( The demon who wept for a soul she would never obtain. It was almost as tragic as his own tale. ) Mazikeen had pined for things to return to the way they had and yet, didn’t she realise that for things to change, she also had to adapt and grow? }

‘I only planted the idea about Lucifer, Mazikeen. You’re the one who decided to follow through so don't bother come crying to me now. he knows what you’re still like.’

‘A doctor?’

{ Golly gracious; if MEDICAL assistance was required whenever injuries were obtained – he’d be perpetually hospitalised. Damage was unavoidable but pain? ( Pain was subjective. ) Centuries spent trying to break his curse had enabled him to build up quite the tolerance. Deepended lacerations to someone else were mere scratches. A mere inconvenience and yet exactly how much had he witnessed when he had lifted his shirt? }

‘Are you sure? It’s just a flesh wound.’

‘Then I’ll die.’

{ Stoic response was AUTOMATIC. Almost robotic as the anguish increased tenfold, eyes starting to flicker, threatening to close. This was far from his first rodeo; it was rinse and repeat, right? ( Wasn’t like he wouldn’t come back in a matter of moments, lungs burning with life. Each breath a brutal reminder of immortality that ran through veins. ) Hand waved her away in dismissal; speech starting to slur. He could feel every excruciating sensation; seconds turning to minutes. } ‘Pour me a drink for after, would you? I’ve found that it helps with the pain.’

‘I see you’re not as blind as your father.’

{ Bitterness laced his tone. Lucien’s INSISTENCE that he was just clumsy starting to get on his last nerve. ( How many more times would he feel a blade penetrating him? ) The vampire had even gone as far as to hold him, like he was on a skewer. Watching with morbid fascination as he flailed about. No, he hadn’t thumped him nearly hard enough. Though splitting his lip had been grimly satisfying. }

‘That’s what happens when you’re stabbed. You bleed. Instead of just stating the obvious can you pass me a towel, please?’

‘That this - is all rubbish.’ { Lucifer could APPEAR as offended as he wished; his stick-figure drawings were not evidence that the witness was a criminal. Where was the motive? The proof? Must he do all the leg work while Lucifer came out with ridiculous far-fetched theories and blamed his right bastard of a father? ( He got it. He loathed him with every fibre of his being too, but he doubted he was orchestrating every waking moment. ) The thought was too horrific. } ‘We need to look at the facts, people. Go back to basics. We are missing something; Lucifer, put the pen down!’ { He didn’t bother to look if the DEVIL was listening to him, focusing now on Nancy as he gestured her to start flipping through the files with him. Deciding he would pitch in because the case was aggravating him too. ( He had never liked loose ends; ironically. ) No, his fingers drummed against the clipboard, trying to arrange his thoughts.  She had a keen eye and was focused. He appreciated her expertise and so it was he returned the question to her. }

‘What’s your theory?’
