Hey Y’all Hey 👋🏽 I’ve been working on what to post ALL DAY! And in these last few minutes of Juneteenth here is what is true for me. 👉🏾 I’m from a family/community that has celebrated Juneteenth for as long as I can remember. 👉🏾 I want and encourage Black Folx to find, create & engage JOY, especially as we continue the work in this movement to call in justice, equity and the dismantling of current systems. 👉🏾 Today, I sat with a question posed this morning about what we are really celebrating. 👉🏾This post is inspired by @taranajaneen and a reflection on what I am celebrating today. This delicious recipe is very special to me because the first time Debarshi prepared it was after we had baby Prisha. Life changes when you are a parent and it changes for good. For all the ups and downs, smiles and tears, hugs and tantrums, I thank God everyday for blessing me with Prisha. So this recipe is for all the mamas and daughters. Would you like to give this recipe a try? It goes very well with Rice and Dal. Ingredients: Potatoes – 2-3 large, peeled, cut into medium size cubes and washed Jhinge (Ridge Gourd) – 5 large, peeled and cut into thick pieces Poppy Seeds – 2-3 tablespoons Green Chilies – 2, slit in halves Mustard Oil – 2 tablespoons Kalonji (Nigella seeds) – ½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder – ½ teaspoon Salt - to taste (about ½ teaspoon) To find the complete recipe, click on my instagram story and click on the link.
