📍 On Forrest Gump's lead actor Tom Hanks played the role of Forrest Gump in it's self-title movie, his same debut as an actor on 1994. If you will ask me who is my top American actor aside from Depp, Di Caprio, and England's Cumberbatch, my favorite is Tom Hanks (and also a celebrity crush). I have to admit that this is heavily influenced from him being the Robert Langdon of Dan Brown's book-to-movie adaptations (Angel & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, Inferno). Like how Daniel Radcliffe looked like destined to be HP, so does Hanks as Robert. Another thing is that he played 6 roles in Cloud Atlas (watch that too). He is flexible. Plus this is the same voice behind Woody of Toy Story. For a debut film, Hanks was promising in terms of performance for Forrest Gump, and considering other roles he took after this debut. That hurt like hell. (Sorry for spoilers) The ending of Forrest Gump (btw this is 2 hrs., and all worth it) proves that good people always have it worse or painful. Forrest have a low IQ, the only thing that made him survive school was playing because he runs fast. All his life he just went where his feet takes. And all the time, he just loves Jenny always. Everyone who knows this movie knows how sad it was when he cried because he is scared that his son might be not that smart like him, too. For a while, they were together and then she died. It was just really sad that ever since Forrest met Jenny, he just wants to keep her always. They ended up together but only for limited time. I can't even describe this anymore because it's just too beautiful and painful. These frames tell so much story. Jenny is Forrest's first friend, the only person on his first bus ride to school to offer him a seat. Forrest have no idea why Jenny doesn't like going home, because it turns out that his father is touching her. They went on separate ways. Jenny getting laid everywhere, joining a folk band because she loves singing, and being lost altogether. Running away everywhere. While Forrest runs because he is good at it, Jenny runs because she doesn't know else where to go. It shows how much of our child days contribute to what we bring when we become grown ups. Sometimes, it's the home that is the root of all our scars, the very first place that should be the first one to show us love. It was Bubba's last words to Forrest Gump. It made ma damn sad. Hearing a soldier say he or she wants to go home before he dies is on another level of tragedy and loss. Wars takes so much from the ones who experiences or sees it. It's heartbreaking. And somehow, it makes me think that all nations today are doing their best to not resort to war, because it happened in the past and it was death all over. To this day though, we still have fellows who suffers from political or religious wars, right now the BLM is still pushing. I also remember this scene where Forrest Gump was in the Black Panther party. I can't shake what the Black told him, that they are not in favor of their fellow Blacks being sent to wars in frontliners to fight for a nation that hates them. That hit hard and it reminds me of what is happening today. Rest in peace, Bubba. And rest in peace to everyone who lost their lives to injustices, sacrifices, all of you.
