Flashy is an apt title for Electric Six’s 2008 album, which really strikes the balance between disco beats and punk sensibilities in a way that only they could. You can really see the influence that other bands like Queen had on them, but not in a manner that takes away from their own identity, and the group really celebrates their own sound and canon in a way that manages to be nostalgic without being self aggrandising. Highlight tracks include Gay Bar pt 2, Formula 409, Dirty Ball, Graphic Designer, and Transatlantic Flight. Available on iTunes and Spotify.
