Took the day off to clean my room and now I have NO clothes

#i’ve filled three giant bags with clothes to donate or give to my friend or sell on vinted idk #there’s so MUCH. i didn’t realise how many of my clothes i flat out hated or that didn’t fit me anymore #working out is all fun and games until your weight distribution changes such that none of your pants will now stay up #i don’t own a SINGLE PAIR of jeans anymore. they’re all too big #the only thing i have in abundance now is socks. i have way too many pairs of socks #i have socks for every occasion. i’ve got ankle socks. trainer socks. thermal socks. crew socks. novelty socks. plain socks #i’ve got SOCKS #i am however going to have to live in leggings and sweats and t-shirts for the foreseeable #i have a handful of decent blouses and exactly one pair of formal trousers that more or less fit me #if you invite me somewhere nice i am going to either be dressed like a used car salesman or a preacher’s wife #because i only got rid of one of my dresses #also my vacuum clogged while trying to clean my floor and i started crying lol #it’s the haaaaair. i don’t know how it happens. i have literally had a bob the whole time i’ve had this vacuum #anyway my room is fairly clean now. i’m going to have an early dinner and take a bath #dentist appointment in the morning 🫠 and i’m genuinely so fucking annoyed about it #society has surpassed the need for me to be seeing this man every fucking month like PLEASE i BEG of you just put a better filling on it #just a permanent filling that doesn’t crumble into dust after TWO DAYS. that’s all i ask and i don’t think it’s FUCKING UNREASONABLE #I PAID £176 to get FUCKED UP IN THE BAD WAY #personal

sorry (<- not actually sorry just bad at breaking the habit) for the uptick in personal stuff lately, i think it's pretty clear at this point that work-related functions like conferences get me reflecting on gender & presentation a lot so i just kind of have to sit with this

#j rambles #ignore me #personal #because formal spaces and attire really highlight gender nonconformity in a way that i dont experience otherwise #like in theory dress shirts and jackets are unisex but the cuts are not. the shoes are not. pant cuts and hair and makeup and jewelry #and i know what i Want to wear. and i know that if i wear it i will be alone in a room of 300+ people #wearing a curvy cut dress shirt killssss me i literally opt for the dressy sleeveless shirts instead so that i dont think about it #and GOD the way i have just never seen this awareness of gender and the ability to choose where i sit within it - not for comfort but for #the situational advantages i can gain - discussed in such a plain and understanding way until this book. not even on the internet

years ago got this super cute lilac long skirt that ive never worn since getting it but would really like to if only it werent for the fact id hate to be perceived anything remotely close to femininely. and Especially by my extended family who i just know for a fact are waiting for me to grow out of my "phase" and be able to say "see that? you're acting like a normal girl now"

I feel like one could make the argument that Butler is in some ways less naturally** socially adroit than Artemis lol. At least, based on the fact that in the first book, Butler offhandedly goes, "Yeah, Young Master Artemis is basically a younger brother/best friend" before proceeding to then be grandfathered into every future friendship he gets into in the series by virtue of Artemis going all-in with becoming a constant (non-threatening) thorn in the People's side.

It seems "being raised as a child soldier" trumps "neurodivergent, old money child nightmare that never had to learn to play nice with people his age".

I mean, I don't think Tim or Angeline are particularly more comfortable (regardless of what they project as is required by social niceties and status) interacting in a non-business context with strangers for a long period of time.

Honestly, I think if you were to strip away Artemis' intelligence and the fact he has no qualms about making it known when a situation annoys him, he's not that much different, disposition-wise, than the rest of the human characters, regardless of what Colfer's narration comedically suggests sometimes.

**as in, outside of when Artemis and Butler are taking on the persona of someone else for business
