Seperti diberitakan sebelumnya, Satgas Waspada Investasi meminta masyarakat untuk mewaspadai penawaran binary option dan broker ilegal yang tidak terdaftar di Bappebti, yang dilakukan oleh afiliator ataupun influencer yang berpotensi merugikan masyarakat.

Ketua Satgas Waspada Investasi Tongam L. Tobing mengatakan kegiatan perdagangan online yang dilakukan binary option itu ilegal karena bersifat judi, tidak ada barang yang diperdagangkan.

"Sifatnya hanya untung-untungan. Menang atau kalah dalam menebak harga suatu komoditi dan naik atau turunnya dalam periode tertentu, yang bisa merugikan masyarakat," katanya dalam keterangan resmi beberapa waktu lalu.

Penanganan terhadap investasi ilegal pun dilakukan secara bersama-sama oleh seluruh anggota Satgas Waspada Investasi dari 12 Kementerian/Lembaga. Untuk diketahui SWI bukan aparat penegak hukum sehingga tidak dapat melakukan proses hukum.

Selain menghentikan dan mengumumkan kepada masyarakat, Satgas Waspada Investasi juga melakukan pemblokiran terhadap situs, website, aplikasi dan menyampaikan laporan informasi ke Bareskrim Polri.
