Seventh beginning

Writing epilogues for Digimon fanfiction within Digimon Fanfiction Series should be easier. But then in this latest one I am basically squaring all of canon together straightening the path for an epic conclusion.

How much have I agonized over the Takari pairing being shafted in the epilogue? How true is my arch narrative fitting all of the canon events in it to explain how they can still be canon?

Even if they are denied in reality I have found both damnation and redemption in my stories. I am afflicted by the truth and comforted by the justification.

I don’t care it has taken me so long to come to this point. I have come too far to give in. The Digital Record Series will be completed.

We are almost finished. Keep on Keeping on.

Resolve

Word Count: 623 Prompt: Fifth Adventure A/N: Local Tri apologist here. (Listen, high school me REALLY loved new Digimon content coming out while she was aware of it.) Anyyyyyyway. There was (1) aspect of Tri that I always took umbrage with, and it was that Homeostasis kinda went "actually, we don't need you." Like what? So Takari is my vessel for standing up to that! LOOK AT THEM GO! @takariweek

"This is weird, right?"

Hikari looked up and over at Takeru, who was sitting on the floor a little ways away. She had been petting Tailmon's hair for… she'd lost track. A while. How long had they been sitting here in silence? A few minutes? Hours? Days? Months? No. It had only been about twenty minutes. Calm down, Hikari.

Her voice was a bit hoarse as she said, "Very."

"I mean. They picked us, right? We're the Chosen, and now they—they don't want us anymore? What kind of sick joke is that?" Takeru had been bent over Patamon, clutching his Digimon partner tightly like a stuffed animal. The poor creature looked so forlorn to see Takeru in such a state. But now, the blond sat up, locking his gaze with Hikari's, blue eyes desperate and widened. "Are they going to do this to all the Chosen? Wallace? The kids in New York? Russia? Mexico? What's fair about that?"

"It's not fair." Hikari's words came out bitter enough that even Tailmon looked surprised. "They can't change our lives forever and then try to reverse it. It's too late. We've been in this for years."

"What can we do? They already don't want us involved."

"We got involved the moment we met Meiko. Whether they like it or not, we're as much a part of this as she is." Hikari glanced out the window. "And we can't just leave one of our own behind."

"Of course we can't." A sly grin appeared on his face. "Daisuke would have our heads if we did."

"Do you think they're okay?" Hikari whispered. "I… I don't like that we don't know where they are."

"I wish we could've been there to help them. We should've been. If we'd been there, maybe we could have used Jogress evolution…" Takeru shook his head. "We're going to help Meiko, and we're going to find them. That's all we can hope for right now."

Hikari couldn't help it—she raised an eyebrow. "Really leaning into that, are you?"

"Hey, it's worked before. Surely it will work this time." Takeru made to stand up, holding out a hand for her. "Shall we?"

"Let's. Maybe by now the 'adults' have stopped going in circles." Hikari took his hand and stood with him, and they smiled at each other. Even more than their brothers, they had always been able to strengthen the other's resolve with minimal effort. Such was the way of being Hikari and Takeru.

"We always need to save them, don't we?"

"I think we always will." 

Hikari let Takeru pull her out of her apartment and toward where the others had surely gathered by now. Their hands remained joined, clasped tightly. She was his anchor, and he was hers. Even as the world, their lives, crumbled around them, they still had each other. As it always had been. As it always would be, Homeostasis be damned.

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning

Watched Digimon 02 movie the other day with my friend in theaters~ not gonna go too much into details but just some general thoughts:

Random thoughts as I recall what happened, things won't be in order tho... but just wanted to say that I went in 99% blind. I only saw that ONE trailer where I posted that one screenshot. I had no expectations, it was literally at zero.

Bolero was literally all I remembered of the beginning LOL

I cherished/delighted over/soak up every single moment that had Takeru & Hikari together in the same frame #takari

^ I will 100% screencap those frames when there's a digital release

^ I also guarded myself because I knew there wasn't going to "anything" significant happening (hi Digimon Tri), but hey, I still love them so

I'm pleasantly surprised by the Ken & Miyako moments tho.

I love the designs for grown-up 02 kids, they all look so good.

Love how Daisuke & Veemon just going about at their own pace, and not being too swayed by all the "what ifs"--also love their #ramen way

The shadow/trauma that haunts Takeru every now & then will always gut me TuT I want him to be happy forever (not in the Ukkomon way tho)

Ohhh it's Ogata Megumi. I think I forgot that she was announced to be the VA for Rui, but I'm glad I can recognize her voice.

And Kugimiya Rie's of course.

I felt this weird laugh-cry emotion inside whenever they did the digivolutions, how did we sit through all of them as kids?? XD

Every time I hear Wada Kouji, Miyazaki Ayumu, and AiM, I feel so so so happy, but also feel that bittersweetness (Wada Kouji forever)

Rui in the movie is just like... what if Ikari Shinji existed in the Digimon world instead? (LOL I love Ogata Megumi)

The whole Ukkomon thing was just really creepy (like maybe except for the very very beginning when they first meet, and the very very end when they meet again), like dang, it way dark as heck.

Rui's backstory was just really sad too. Like I said, really dark, especially when things literally started falling/melting apart...

I'm a little sad that we only got to see Taichi out of everyone in the older gen, but I think I can appreciate why this was only about the 02 kids. I'm just glad Takeru & Hikari exist in both gens.

Takeru is old enough to drive and I kinda love that? Boy's all grown up.

Love the cameos we saw around the world too.

Loved the scene when everyone's Digivices just lit up the entire world, so pretty~

Random thought: The biggest brain move they could have made was have the movie released on 02/29/24 since it's kinda around the corner--maybe for digital release XD

Final thoughts: I'm glad that this movie just came as just one movie. I don't think I can handle it if it went on as long as Tri did, so that nothing gets too dragged out and resolves itself in one movie. No offence to Tri--I loved how Tri started, but things got weird and the resolution was kinda lacking imo, but I still appreciate all the good I remember of it tho. I think for Digimon 02 movie, I was able to just enjoy it as a standalone or alternative episode without thinking too much of how it ACTUALLY fits in to the bigger plot. Like the beginning, they talked about a Route 1 or A, and there's also a "Route 2"--I just think of this as a different route that our Chosen Ones could have taken. In my heart of hearts, their bonds are real, and their friendships are forever whether they have their Digivices or not, and whether they are together or not (Kizuna, I'm looking at you).

Takari Week 2024 - Day 6: Sixth Ending

Kari and T.K stay close to each other, but Tai and the enormous wolf stand at opposite ends of the room. The red-haired girl stands between them, looking concerned. Tai demands to know why they’re here. The girl introduces herself as Sora and assures him that she’ll explain everything.

The wolves are dying out, Sora informs them. Not the normal wolves, but the special ones that have minds like men and live long lives. Her mother has been a friend to the wolves for a long time, but they have forgotten her over the generations as the situation grew worse. 

For some reason, Matt and T.K. caught her attention when they were born. Maybe because of the strong bond between them? She decided to intervene. T.K. was sickly and wouldn’t have survived to full adulthood, so Sora’s mother enchanted him, turning him into a statue until she could find a way to save him. 

She didn’t expect Kari to break the enchantment or for T.K. to become human when she did. His transformation restored his health. Maybe Kari is from a special bloodline and that’s why her scarf had that effect? I’m leaning towards it just being something special about Kari, though. 

T.K. is very surprised by all of this. He knew he felt different, but he couldn’t remember enough about being a wolf that he realized he’d changed. 

Sora explains that the wolves are traditionally led by a pair of brother wolves, and that losing that was part of what caused the wolves to decline. By preserving T.K., her mother hoped that Matt and T.K. could grow up to lead the wolves together and begin a restoration. 

I feel like the wolves should have some important role that makes them worth restoring but I have no idea what that is other than guarding something, maybe a treasure. 

Now that T.K. is no longer sickly, he needs to return to his brother and lead the wolves with him. Kari is dismayed to hear this. She doesn’t want to lose him. T.K. also seems distressed and torn. He takes Kari’s hand and asks, “But what about Kari?” 

Sora looks sad. She tells T.K. that, if he stays human, the wolves will be gone in a generation or two. 

Tai looks annoyed and asks why it has to be one or the other. T.K. became human once, can’t he do it again even if he goes back to being a wolf for a little while?

Sora is surprised, then thoughtful. Kari feels hope rise up and smiles at her brother as T.K. squeezes her hand. 

“Then I’ll go back,” T.K. decides. He looks at Kari. “But not forever.”

Omg legit? Thank you so much, Ayushi! Well, the one I’m really interested in is Hikari with her crest and with all of Tailmon’s evolutions (from all seasons + remake). I know that’s kind of a lot though 😅

Maybe Summer will come again

It's been a few rough days for me. I've been trying to keep myself positive, but sometimes real life can be tough.

A lot of things are happening, and a lot of uncertainties are roaming my head. I feel like my sanity is hanging from a very thin thread and I am worried I might end up in depression.

Perhaps somebody out there is sharing this feelings and I hope that if you read this you know that even in the darkest days, the sun will eventually come back again. At least that was the thought I had while coloring this drawing. The composition may not be exactly what I am writing about since the artline was done long before I was having this existential crisis, but the coloring was.

I hope everyone can find a little happiness in this art
