hmmm mmmmmhh in Issue 2, as Pinewing goes to check on Cypressfoot and Nightberry, and Nightberry kind of attacks him, he thinks it's 'almost like she thought he was a fox or something'. and now dozens issues later we learn she had visions of the clan being killed, and it makes me wonder if even so far back she knew that a fox will break in and be the thing that kills Cypressfoot.. and as such, she was actually trying to prevent it from happening or buy Cypress more time when mistaking Pinewing for one and snapping at him.. oh man oh dude

Pinewing references it as a coyote, which was a reference to Rainhaze (mr. coyote symbolism) taking Dustfeather out of the den to her death - and yes, Nightberry's response is a reaction to Cypressfoot's eventual death, though she didn't know at the exact time that's how Cypress would die. You'll notice that throughout the story, Pine & Night will often have a subconscious sense of what's going to happen/what has happened before they actually, consciously know what it is.

I keep wondering how much curly even knew. He thought anya was trying to hurt herself bc they were all being let go (not bc jimmy sa'd her), but when she said 'i told you' he immediately knew she was talking about jimmy - but what did she tell him? did she tell him directly so he def knew that it wasn't a consensual encounter or did he only realize when jimmy told him that he'd get in trouble for it too? Or maybe he didn't believe anya at all at first? I wish we'd gotten that part of the conversation bc his behaviour looks very different depending on the answer

Whenever I think about it I think of the factors we have and more importantly what we don’t.

It’s intentional that the details of what happened are vague. We don’t have the when where and how, we don’t actually know what told means in this context where characters speak to each other in pretty heavy “what ifs” and “do you get it”.

I always interpret it as in told in a sort of fore warning. All the little details she was giving Curly were her telling him and he couldn’t see them the same or at all. It’s kinda why I have a sort of disdain for the I told you so in fan works because what she told him and what we see and know as outsider may not be the same. I’m not blaming Anya, far from it. She made an effort to reach out to Curly in a way that didn’t implicate her, didn’t send Jimmy directly back to her. She never directly says Jimmy did it, she never uses the word rape, but when she says I told you, Curly knows. When she says she told Jimmy, Curly knows what that means. When he talks to Jimmy, he finally understands it. It’s his fault for not getting it, not doing enough for those wanting but I don’t believe they were anything he took as extremely dangerous, not until too late.

He did something, just not enough, not the right something.

I never had the impression he didn’t believe Anya more so he had no idea how to actually handle and address it. That is a big fault on his part as what he did do just prolong Jimmy’s inevitable crash out. He never took her concerns lightly and he did try to comfort her, but he didn’t get what those concerns were about, not fully. So comforting her can never feel fulfilling.

Something that always gets me is how much talking Jimmy does in his scenes with Curly. Curly sorta shuts down and just lets him say whatever and we have try and piece a coherent thought process for him together about words and intentions that aren’t his own. The conversations we see are likely all the conversations that happened, the ones that mattered, that paint the bigger picture with little details.

We all assume the I told you was a direct statement but almost everything is n the game is cheekily indirect. We assume he’s known for a while, but we can’t know. I feel like us not knowing how aware Curly was is a big point of the commentary. Awareness helps us act more appropriately. He knows Jimmy was at least patronizing towards her position but that’s all he gleaned himself, hence why he takes over the psych eval for him. It’s a lot of wondering what was discussed between him and Anya and how it was.

If it was anything like the dead pixel conversation, which we only get towards the middle end, after we see a lot of the signs, the. I don’t think it got through his thick skull :/. Not in time at least.

Honestly.. the way Lando cried about Max being dangerous in Mexico’24 GP and Charles repeating that he enjoys these aggressive advances and battling it out with *his* max in the days prior to the mexican GP is giving massive WYGIG lando saying he can take max during his rut but in the end it’s charles who is the only one to be able to handle max in any kind of way

youve probably gotten this question a dozen times but im just nosy, have you ever read grrm's other work a song of ice and fire? (NOT the tv show) if not, the way you post about messmer & marika's relationship makes me feel like youd love everything going on in those books haha

i do get a lot of comments telling me my OCs looks like characters from that (?) (and to this day i still do not look up any of those characters to see how they look like aksjfjkdfjkd), so a lot of ppl just assume i've read those books but i have never read any of it. yeah 🥲🥲

but some of my mutuals do blog about the show and the books a lot, and ngl after the DLC, im kinda curious ? so maybe i'll check it out in the future... idk yet.

last time i checked out a Western fantasy series........... it was crazy. (the fit i was having after i read through all Witcher books because of the TV show...... idk if anyone even remember that phase of this blog, but the reason i started playing videogame in the first place is because of Witcher)

up until this point i only look at Elden Ring in comparison to other Fromsoft games (and Sinosphere culture influence in the theme and design), but lately i do feel like i should check out GRRM work as well, but i also feel like it'd literally make my brainrot even worse so................ decision, decision.

what do you think about the gems that are just objects or decoration(like comby, the balls music player, the sentient walls, and sentient statues) are they an interesting part of gem culture to you?

They are a big fav of mine! I'm currently working on a theory and a gem species around them! They are underappreciated but I get why :/

The (WIP) theory goes like this:

When Peridot got unbubbled, she said "Oh my stars, you're going to harvest me?!" (reacting to the bubbled collection of gemstones) with a pretty scared look and that has stuck with me. "Bubbled Dungeon"

By would gemstones/shards be harvested? To be used to power-up machines? Eh I don't think so. I personally think The Harvest is about reusing gems to make up other types of gems. Like, less evolved-looking/polished gems that are still fully functional, just, completely new. I mean bricks and buildings have to be made from something!

Diamonds can create life (by destroying it) and by proxy, gems carry their essence. Is this too dark. Well it's on the same universe The Cluster exists so idk, this is still a wip. Oops

Now, about these gem creatures:

-Some of them could be decoration with humanoid form because lmao

-Some could be what happened to Lapis Lazuli, being a gemstone stuck on an object to power said object. That's considered a punishment and since it's on homeworld I don't really think that's the case.

-They are actual gems that just happen to be like that? Because some of them CAN MOVE, not sure if all of them can (I mean it would be weird to see an entire bridge move), but they are their own aware individuals that were given the job to be a wall (like Spinel's job was being Pink Diamond's best friend).

I have made some gems around these creatures, here's Ulexite (TV Stone) per example. I'm designing some more too, it's just very interesting for me.

obsessed with the thought that they said explicitly in ntn that only the tomb keeper and her cavalier could approach (and open) the tomb. kiriona says harrow's has no cavaliers living, and yet 8-ish years ago there was a little girl half dead with half a face beneath her nails who approached the tomb. 8 years ago, there was a little girl missing her half her face who followed, and witnessed the opening of the tomb. the reverend daughter and her cavalier, before the tomb; a lock and a key.

i think there really might be something to the theory that Eddie caught encephalitis from Chimney. In the scene in 7x06 where they're talking about the encephalitis Eddie says "we should probably all get checked" and that felt very foreboding to me, even before 7x07

jinwol i think would be the mc suddenly acting not according to their personality and ordering him around? haha! something like grabbing his wrist and dragging him along or suddenly telling him to shut up. or pinning him against a wall. these are not all specific fantasies of his i swear

yul finds vulnerability cute! they get more excited the more flustered the mc gets. i think to them they like feeling like a “special existence” when it comes to the mc, so the more they get the sense that it’s something only THEY can see the more they get butterflies.

iseul is the exact scene of throwing/getting thrown at the end of a duel to a weapon pointing at a vital point and being told something like “i win.” never say she’s not consistent HAHAHA but in more seriousness i think the big hurdle is getting her to realize her own feelings. even the smallest thing will give her butterflies after that! otherwise you could literally be trapped in a small space with her and she’d just say something like “this is cozy!”

??? doesn’t really get butterflies i don’t think, but they get flustered the more incompetent they feel. they sincerely hate feeling powerless in a situation, and the more they start to feel inadequate the more they start to mess up. even so i think the idea of seeing the normally calm-looking ??? turn bright red and start floundering is cute (≧∀≦)

I’ve seen you posting abt In stars and time and I’m intrigued! What’s your pitch on it for someone interested in playing?

OKAY. so. in stars and time is an indie rpg! its also a time loop story! you play as siffrin, who just so happens to be the fourth member to join a party on a quest to save the country from being frozen in time! in fact, you start on the parties final mission! its the day before they face the evil king.

and then you start the journey to the final battle! only for things to start from the top as quick as it began.

to stop talking with my 'pitch voice'. uh! isat is a fucking fantastic game. the story is great, the characters are so lively that you never for a second question how important they are to each other, and even the mechanics are great! the way the time loops work in game makes sense from both a story perspective and a quality of life one.

its also a BEAUTIFUL game. its entirely in black and white and most of the graphics are pixel art, but theres also a lot of cgs and talk sprites that really bring things to life! the music bangs, the actual rpg mechanics are CRAZY charming, and everything about it is super duper cohesive. it gets really easy to get in siffrins head, to feel what theyre feeling. both the writing and the gameplay do a GREAT job establishing this.

and!! its only 20 dollars??? and the game is like upwards of 12 hours of gameplay? like the speedrun record is 4 hours. you get a LOT of bang for your buck.

i will say! it gets really heavy near the end. there are content warnings when you open the game and you should head those warnings! it can be kind of a lot!! in a really good and well done way, but still kind of a lot!!
