okay i'm still very awake so you're all gonna have to deal with me red-stringing about character bullshit until i fall asleep. i Know i'm making a big post about this but i don't care
why. this is the first instance of mark being designated as the one in charge when a higher-up (fred, in this case) isn't present. but why. they were only trapped in the slipspace fuckeryzone for a few days relative to normal space-time and i don't think anything drastic happens (with these guys) in glasslands? at least according to the wiki it doesn't. why did being integrated into blue team suddenly disrupt team saber's former command structure?
did they plan to kill mark off at the very start of this? was this all a long game to give mark enough of a foothold as an Important Character to make his death have more impact? does troy denning just like him more? how much weight did his personal preferences even play in this? why do the gammas suddenly start bantering when they're in danger and alone with a woman they just met? why do mark and ash seem to switch personalities every other chapter? why is this worse than i remember it being when i first read it a few months ago?
#this is only partially shitposting#the more i flip back and forth between all these books the weirder it gets#i know i'm reading too far into what's probably trivial nonsense#but boy oh boy do i want to make it make sense#also. there's a one-braincell quota for every denning novel#and only one character is allowed to have it at a time#listen. they're not Bad to read#they're mostly fun if you overlook the fact that highly-intelligent spartans#would PROBABLY not be clueless about the basics of forensic procedure#i don't even mind that mark is the one in charge in this era of novels#i like mark#but i want the Why#and i want to see the Why on ash's side of it too#tbh the boring answer is just. everyone agreed this was an acceptable direction#for the characters to go. and that was that#i mean halo canon continuity is a mess already given everyone who's contributed#but. gestures helplessly#ash reads halo#ash goes fucking insane reading halo#that should be the tag for these#can anyone tell what kind of day i've had?#can anyone hear me#halo#halo books#gamma company#mark g313#book: last light#character analysis hell tag#essay reference tag

Singapore's Draft Framework for GenAI Governance
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/singapores-draft-framework-for-genai-governance/
Singapore's Draft Framework for GenAI Governance
Singapore has unveiled a preliminary governance model for generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), citing its necessity to tackle new challenges such as incident reporting and tracking the origins of content.
This proposed structure expands upon Singaporeâs current AI governance model, initially introduced in 2019 and last revised in 2020.
According to a joint statement by the AI Verify Foundation and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), GenAI holds the promise of exceeding the capabilities of conventional AI, yet it also presents inherent risks.
Singaporean government agencies acknowledge a growing international agreement on the need for uniform principles to ensure the safe and confident application of GenAI. They stated, âAIâs use and influence transcend national boundaries. Our proposed framework is designed to spark global discussions among policymakers, the industry, and researchers, aiming for worldwide trust in AI development.â
Key aspects of the proposed framework
The draft framework incorporates suggestions from an IMDA discussion paper released last June. This paper identified six GenAI-associated risks, including illusions, copyright issues, and inherent biases, and outlined approaches to address them. The draft also benefits from previous initiatives, like a catalog for assessing GenAI model safety and results from tests in an evaluation sandbox.
It addresses nine essential areas identified by Singapore as crucial for fostering a trusted AI ecosystem. These areas center on principles ensuring AI-driven decisions are understandable, transparent, and equitable. The framework also provides actionable advice for AI model developers and policymakers, as noted by IMDA and AI Verify.
Content source and security considerations
One key aspect concerns content source, emphasizing the need for clarity on the origins and creation methods of online content. This is crucial due to the ease of generating AI-created content, like deepfakes, which could amplify misinformation, as pointed out by the Singaporean agencies.
The framework proposes collaboration with publishers, including social media and media outlets, to embed and display digital watermarks and other origin details securely and effectively, minimizing risks of bypass.
Another central aspect is security, as GenAI introduces new threats, such as prompt attacks via the model architecture. These can allow malicious parties to steal sensitive data or model weights.
The framework calls for new security measures, including tools for moderating inputs to detect unsafe prompts and digital forensics tools for investigating and reconstructing cybersecurity incidents involving GenAI.
The agencies emphasize the importance of balancing user protection with innovation. They note ongoing international discussions on related issues like accountability, copyright, and misinformation.
These complex, interconnected issues require a practical, comprehensive approach, as no single solution will suffice. As AI governance is still an evolving field, international consensus-building is vital. Singapore is actively working with other governments, like the U.S., to harmonize their AI governance frameworks.

Thinking about how I would write an adult Scooby-Doo series, because I think it can be done.
The first thing Iâd do is make the characters actually be adults. Still young, but adults, in the mid to late 20s range. Mystery Inc. is a private detective type business that they run together. In this universe, the supernatural/ghosts/etc are real, but not necessarily common, so when they take on a case, the culprit might be a person disguised as a monster, or it might actually be a real ghost. The stakes can be higher; sometimes a bad guy is legitimately trying to kill them. Sometimes the mystery theyâre trying to solve is a murder. Sometimes they actually get hurt on their cases.
Fred: the core of Fredâs character should be that heâs incredibly kind. Like, give a stranger the shirt off his back kind. The âFred canât talk to potential clients because he might take a case for free and we need to eatâ kind. Heâs an honest and good person and sometimes gets himself into trouble because he assumes other people are too. While heâs not very good at reading people or noticing ulterior motives, heâs brilliant when it comes to mechanical or engineering type stuff, so heâs the one who keeps the mystery machine running, builds their gadgets, and of course, designs the traps.
Daphne: she comes from old money, and her parents absolutely despise her life choices, to the point where they havenât officially disowned her, but they have basically cut her off, so she doesnât actually have access to any family money. Growing up wealthy has granted her a variety of skills, including speaking multiple languages, horseback riding, and fencing. Sheâs very into fashion and jewelry (even if she canât afford it anymore) and has extensive knowledge of both that can occasionally provide a vital clue in a case. And even though her parents have cut her off, Daphne still has a wide network of contacts she can ask for favors sometimes, because sheâs personable, and people tend to like her. Daphne is also very emotionally intelligent, and is usually the one who can spot when someone is lying to them.
Side note - I ship Fred and Daphne, so I think I would start them off as an established couple for this universe. Dating, engaged, married, I donât care. They are stupidly in love, ride or die for each other. Thereâs no will they, wonât they, no worries about cheating. They are in a healthy, happy, loving relationship, and no one (not even Daphneâs disapproving parents) are going to mess that up for them.
Velma: she is the forensics nerd who sometimes gets super excited about the wrong thing at the wrong time (âHe was mummified in seconds? Thatâs so cool!â âVelma! His wife is standing right there!â âOh. Sorry.â). Sheâs not purposely insensitive, she just gets laser focused on her work and forgets to filter herself sometimes. Sheâs also the one who can get so fixated on solving whatever mystery theyâre working on, sheâs willing to bend or maybe break laws. Is breaking and entering really so bad? Not if it gets them answers.
Shaggy: he is still the comic relief, but heâs the comic relief by being the only person in the group that actually has common sense. He manages the businessâs finances, heâs the only one who knows how to cook, and the others tease him for being a coward sometimes, but Shaggy maintains that if a ghost with an axe is coming for you, running is the only sensible option. He should also have a range of random knowledge that sounds useless, but sometimes saves the day (ex ventriloquism, origami, the history of spoons, etc).
Scooby: as this is a universe where supernatural creatures exist, Scooby is an ancient eldritch type being that took a shine to Shaggy when he was a kid, and took the form of a talking dog to befriend and hang out with him. Aside from the talking dog bit and not aging, he never uses his powers in a way that anyone notices. The audience is not told upfront that Scooby is an ancient eldritch being; it should slowly be hinted at throughout the series so the audience put it together, but the characters never realize it. Scooby genuinely considers Shaggy to be his best friend, and cares about the rest of the gang too.
#ink speaks#scooby doo#i like the vibes of a grown up scooby doo#where they're part of a mystery solving business#it needs to be a monster of the week type deal#so that it can play around with the character dynamics#because i think that's fun#long post

I just have to say itâs really refreshing to read your thoughts on the walrus/fairy post, as I also have very strong feelings about it. Thank you for sharing your opinion
For someone such as myself who is very pro-whimsy, tumblrâs collective willingness to believe in fairies is actually quite charming. I would like to be the type of person to quickly and without question accept that fairies are real if one knocked on my door but honestly Iâm a bit of a skeptic and thatâs not how my brain works. Iâm just more of a Scully than a Mulder I guess!
I think my bias here is that I studied wildlife forensics in vet school, and as a result I dare not underestimate the determination of wildlife smugglers. Yes, it would be hard to smuggle a walrus (even a juvenile) into a private residence. That said people have similarly smuggled Nile crocodiles, lions, spotted seals, cheetahs, chimpanzees, and so so many more species. There was even a case of a gentleman who was taken to court for planning to steal a walrus from an aquarium.
I also think some folks are underestimating the athleticism of a walrus. They arenât lazy slugs that just lay on a beach all day, but rather extraordinarily powerful and intelligent animals. People saying a walrus would never make it up their stairs make me chuckle because walruses in the wild can and do climb 200 ft cliffs. A walrusâ tusks could also glance against a door in a way that resembled knocking. It is highly highly highly improbable for a walrus to be on your doorstep. But not impossible.
If I find a walrus at my door, I have a bizarre but intriguing puzzle that I can immediately start trying to solve. If I find something like the tooth fairy at my door (and am able to discern it is no hoax), I have to re-evaluate my entire understanding of reality. Of physics, and biology, and my perception of the universe around me. That would definitely shock me more than an unexpected mammal in a place it shouldnât be!
#asks#sorry still thinking about this lol#walrus vs fairy#I hope this debate encourages people to learn more about walruses theyâre such cool animals#x files#walrus fairy poll

Can you write BDSM dark!Jennifer Jareau x Reader who is a college student and they meet like randomly. Reader has a heart of gold and canât see jjs dark side. And JJ js like obsessed with her.
âWhen you look at me like that, my darling, what did you expect?â || Jennifer Jareau x fem!reader
CW: slight age gap (college sophomore reader x TA JJ), obsession, stalker behavior, smoking and drinking, possessive behavior, smoking & drinking, jealousy, smut, hair pulling, begging, degradation, sheâs kind of mean ngl, ahem anyways âŚ
"If anyone would like extra review for the final exam, JJ will be available during office hours this week to offer any assistance you might need,â your forensics teacher announced to the room, pointing to the graduate student acting as his TA for the semester. You had gotten to know her a bit and frequently spent office hours with her that started out as going over work but often drifted into gossip or other unrelated discussions. She typically wore her long blonde hair in a loose braid that fell down her back. You admired her intelligence greatly. Her ability to analyze communication and media publications, part of her specialty, was enticing to watch.
Many of the students in the class were already filtering their way out of the lecture hall, ready to crash after their last class of the day. You lingered for a moment so you could scribble down the times you could go find JJ later before eventually running out. J.J. caught your eye as you approached the door. Her eyes narrowed slightly, but her lips drew up into a smile, and she curled her fingers with a wave in your direction. You waved back quickly, watching her cross her arms over her chest as you left.
On your way back to the dorms, you flipped your hand over to see the times scrawled in pen on your skin. You figured it would be nice to see her as soon as possible and wanted to make it to her first available time. That gave you enough time to race back to your room, switch out your supplies, and maybe take a breath for a few moments.
You popped into your room, sharing a brief small talk with your roommate, who was on her way out to the library, but you were back out again as fast as you were in. JJ could always be found in the office of the professor she worked under. She had held many roles under his authority and not only depended on her but trusted her as well, so at this point, a part of the workload and part of the office basically belonged to her.
When you got there, the door was only up a crack, so you knocked and tentatively peeked your head in. JJ looked up from the pile of papers she was grading at her small desk in the corner and swiped her fallen bangs out of her face. "Hey hon, came just for me?â She teased, setting aside her papers as she turned her full attention to you.
You laughed, setting your notes down and pulling up a chair across from her. Before you could sit down, she dragged the chair onto her side of the desk, patting the seat. "Here, just so I donât have to read your notes upside down. She smiled innocently, waiting for you to take your place beside her. Once you had settled yourself, you flipped through the pages of analysis and calculations in front of you, running your finger across the blue ink as you explained yourself. JJ occasionally leaned over to stop you, correcting a small error or elaborating on a concept you didnât entirely understand beyond the basics of it. When she did, she rested her hand on your lower back, and she leaned in close enough that you inhaled the subtle scent of her vanilla perfume. You found it harder to focus under her touch but thought little of it.
Your phone kept buzzing on the table, and you were quick to flip it over, typing out a quick response. JJ silently grew annoyed. After a few too many messages shot back and forth, her eyebrows furrowed, and she poked around for information. "Who needs to get in touch with you that badly?â She spoke dryly but quickly laughed it off.
"Oh, sorry, Iâm just looking for an apartment for next year. Iâm going to check out an apartment with a friend later."You trailed off as you squinted at your screen before setting it down and refocusing your attention on JJ.
JJ sat tensely on the desk in front of you. Her face was in its usual soft and charming smile, which kept you distracted from any other of her mannerisms. While she was adept at detecting others' slight movements and tells, she was also scarily good at covering her own. âWhich friend?â
â Lola.â
JJâs face soured at the name. There had been the slightest bit of shared feelings between you and Lola earlier in the year, but aside from a single night with "no strings attached,â nothing had happened. Whatever couldâve happened between the two of you evaporated, and you remained distant friendsâthat is, until you ran into her getting coffee and she discovered that you were also looking for an apartment. She suggested that the two of you look for one together; you had already been roommates freshman year, and it would be worth it to split the rent. JJ had been the one you discussed your fleeting on and off feelings with, always being an attentive listener, but JJ didnât like her. She didnât tell you that, but she was also far from gushing over her that you kind of got the hint.
"Oh, well, if a place is all you need, baby, then you could stay with me. My roommate is finishing her masterâs this semester, and Iâll have an empty room,â JJ suggested, eager to interrupt the idea of you and Lola living together.
You didnât think she was serious at first. She was at a much different place in her life, getting ready to head into the FBI while you werenât even sure what you wanted to do yet. She was like a mentor to you. She had always been supportive and became a great confidante. Maybe you would be better off with her than Lola. Why would JJ suggest it if it wasn't a good plan? "That's sweet. Iâm still going to go check out the place with her tonight, but if anything falls through, Iâll consider it."
JJ watched you attentively, rolling her bottom lip between her teeth as you packed up your things. Your phone kept buzzing on the desk, and she grew subtly more frantic as you were getting closer to leaving. "Hey, would you mind grabbing my phone? Itâs under the papers on that filing cabinet.â She pointed across the room while her other hand drifted to her back pocket. You turned around and started digging through the stacked papers she had directed you to. JJ smoothly pulled out her phone from where she had felt its weight in her back pocket the entire time you had been here and snapped a photo of the two addresses appearing on your home screen from Lola. Knowing you would quickly turn around without her phone, she stood up quickly out of her chair that had been squeaky all semester and dropped her phone under her desk.
You turned around, ready to tell her that you didnât see it, but she was already crouched on the ground, plucking it up off the floor underneath her desk. "Nevermind, I found it. I must have dropped it.â She smiled vacuously, in a way that only fooled strangers, unaware of her intelligence.
"Oh, good! Thank you so much for your help. Iâll see you in class Friday.â You waved on your way out as JJ called out a goodbye while crossing her legs and rocking slightly in her chair. As soon as the door closed with a click, her face fell into a look of cold determination, and she switched taps on her laptop. Typing in the address, her lips curled upward at the information she found. It was a fairly new apartment complex, right outside the schoolâs campus, meaning there would be plenty of showings going on and people in and out all day long.
She put the address into her phone and parked at the convenience store next door. It was surprisingly easy to slip into a side door that was left open for construction workers working on the other half of the building. She had been fully prepared to go in, flirt with whoever would fall for it in the lobby, and hope it worked out.
Afraid of being stuck in an elevator with someone who might catch on to the fact that she wasnât supposed to be here, she opted to take the stairs up to the third floor. She found that apartment number that youâd be touring in half an hour and passed it, slipping into the empty one next door. As she passed other rooms, she was relieved to see that other apartments in the hallway were already occupied by residents. Her plan instantly became more believable.
She shut the door behind her, surveying the room. The heels of her boots clicked across the wooden floors, echoing in the unfurnished place. Walking up the thin wall that would soon separate you, she placed her hand up to it. Knocking raptly, she smiled when she heard the echo on the other side. JJ had heard every step and creak from her neighbors in her first apartment. The echo guaranteed that you would experience the same when you arrived with Lola. Even the thought of the girl left a sour taste in JJâs mouth, causing her to grit her teeth.
Sliding down the wall, she sat beside the vent. Digging through her purse, she picked out a pack of cigarettes and a small red lighter. She wasnât a frequent smoker but had a history of using one or two when her emotions overwhelmed her to the point where they made her sick to the stomach; Or, in this case, they were simply convenient. A lot of her plan relied on small details working in her favor. Since she arrived, every time part of her plan was reassured, her body relaxed with an increase in confidence. The second she approached the wall, she recognized the smell of new paint. The walls of the room she was in were dusty in beige paint, along with visible chips and dents. It was not newly painted, but a newer room just about to be shown to potential clients? Would be. Sound and scent both went through the walls. It was all she needed.
She occasionally heard footsteps pass and then fade away, but nobody bothered to stick their heads into a room that was supposed to be empty. She dully entertained herself by watching the clouds of smoke that left her lips. She had always paid close attention to every personal detail that had left your mouth, including your subtle complaints about everything smelling of smoke when you had been sharing a room with Lola.
Her attention peaked when she heard a trio of footsteps and two familiar voices outside the door. She quickly pushed herself up off the floor, rolling her eyes at the sound of Lolaâs raspy voice, followed by your laughter. Wandering into the small kitchen area, she boosted herself up onto the counter and placed her phone against the wall. She hit play, sending music blasting from her so loudly that it vibrated against the wall. A grin flashed across her face at the grating sound. She had picked a playlist of music she hadnât listened to since she was seventeen and very angry.
She lingered in the place for about fifteen minutes and could hear you and Lola being shown around the place, but not well enough to comprehend what anyone was saying. She could follow your voices, knowing when you got closer to the door. Her hope peaked at the quickness with which you were in and out of the apartment, under the assumption that you had disliked it. She waited five minutes after hearing you leave to exit out of the building the exact way she had entered, grinning to herself as she drove off to the next address she had plucked off your phone.
Her eyes darted to the short black dress hanging in the back of her car that she could see in the rearview mirror. She had become an expert at changing and getting ready in the back of her car ever since her recent internships with the BAU. Once she had changed out of a crewneck and pair of sweatpants and fixed her hair, she moved her car into a corner parking spot behind the bar, just in case you recognized her car right away. She wanted your interaction to seem more accidental.
Sure enough, when you entered the dimly lit bar moments later with Lola by your side, you backtracked at the sight of familiar blonde hair. You approached JJ tentatively, still unsure if it was her, where she was ordering a drink with her back turned to you. âJJ?â
She turned around, her face breaking out in calculated excitement. âHi! What are you doing here? Howâd the apartment thing go?â She started firing off questions, inviting you to sit on the stool next to her while also ignoring Lolaâs existence.
âWe decided to stop for drinks after. It didnât go so well. The place felt unwelcoming. You could hear everything from loud neighbors, and the rooms had a weird smell."
She pretended to act both surprised and disappointed at this information, all while buying you a drink. âAw, Iâm sorry, hon. Well, like I said, my offer still stands."
You were much more willing to consider the idea now that your first place wasnât looking as good as it seemed. At this point, Lola, who was tired of being in the background, crossed the room to accept a drink offer from a guy who had been staring at her since she had walked in. You decided to stay with JJ.
She thanked the bartender, who handed two glasses across the counter and then slid one over to you. You felt a bit more nervous sitting across from her than usual. She was much more intimidating in this setting than when she was happily helping you out in the corner of a classroom.
She wore a simple black dress, elevated with gold jewelry that fell against her ample cleavage. She also had rings to match on both hands that glinted under the hanging yellow lights as she gripped her glass. A smoky eye shadow was brushed over her lids, accentuating her bright blue eyes. She swirled the drink in front of her, watching ice cubes clink against the sides before she took a sip.
You sat talking for some time, not much differently than you usually did, but eventually her demeanor changed. She pivoted around on her stool so that her knees rested outside of your legs and leaned in closer to talk to you. Occasionally, her hands left the countertop to brush against your thigh, but she didnât draw attention to it. You frowned as her eyes suddenly darkened at something over your shoulder and turned to find Lola sauntering back over with the same main from earlier wrapped around her arm.
"Hey babes, Iâm leaving, would you be okay finding a ride?â Lola leaned in so that you could hear her over the overlapping chatter, and she seemed to be begging you to say yes with her eyes. Before you could reply, JJ volunteered without hesitation.
"I'll take her; you can leave.â As soon as the words left her mouth, she turned back towards you, waiting for Lola to leave. Lola had sensed the blondeâs dislike of her since they first met and was eager to get away from her, so she quickly turned around and headed toward the door without another word to you.
You and JJ remained in your corner of the bar, gradually becoming more rowdy with a second round of drinks, and JJâs hands spent more time on your body. As promised, when you were ready to head out, JJ shielded you through the crowds of people until you slipped into the brisk air. She ran her warm hands up and down your arms, erasing the goosebumps that had risen from the cold. She mumbled something about her car being parked around the back and steered you around the corner of the building. Her jacket was draped over her arm, and she unfolded it, setting it across your shoulders. You were too unfocused, climbing into the passenger's seat of the car, to notice the unfamiliar scent of clothes that lingered on her clothes. JJ hovered over the car door, shielding your head from hitting the roof with her hand as you climbed. She shut the door behind you, walking around to the driverâs side. âAre you on Lotus Ave?â She asked, looking over at you as she pulled out of the parking lot.
"Ugh, yes,â you groaned, dropping your head back against the seat with the realization that your place was 30 minutes across town. You were used to being in places within walking distance, but you had followed Lola to this bar since you were already out of the apartment anyway.
JJ laughed at your disappointment. "Well, Iâm 2 blocks away if you want to just spend the night, and Iâll drive you back in the morning. Maybe stop for breakfast,â she suggested casually, gripping the wheel.
That didnât sound terrible. Crashing in her apartment sounded like a much more comforting idea than a longer car ride in the dark and having to deal with whoever you might run into on your way back up to your dorm. "Actually, that sounds nice,â you said softly, and JJ quickly rerouted, turning onto her street.
Leading you upstairs, she dug around for a minute to find her keys and unlock the door. You shrugged off her jacket, handing it back to her with thanks, and she hung it up by the door. You both immediately crashed on the couch with sighs, kicking your shoes. Lola texted you to double check that you were alright, and JJâs face hardened as you picked up your phone.
The wall that she had so carefully built up over the years to hide her true emotions fell, and impulsivity overwhelmed her. You were startled as she snatched the phone out of your hand, tossing it on the coffee table. â Hey!â Before you could finish, her lips were on yours, and you happily sank into the kiss. "JJ,â you said, out of breath and shock.
She tilted her head, pressing her lips harshly against your neck and below your ear. Her mouth left a trail of soft purple marks and smeared lipstick posessively across your skin. âGod, Iâve been so patient... waiting for you to get over those stupid little sluts, hoping youâd realize that I could treat you so, so much better.â Her voice had dropped into a raspier, coarser octave that made your stomach flip, but you were enjoying her touch too much to interrupt her. "That was silly of me, I shouldâve known you wouldâve needed to show you that, and now I can.â She straddled your waist, putting pressure on your shoulders so that youâd lay back underneath her. Her fingertips ghosted against your collarbone as she tugged the sleeves of your shirt over your shoulders.
Having such an ethereal, powerful woman loom over you left you breathless for a moment. "You've thought about this before tonight? Tell me how.â Your lips quirked up into a smile as you looked up at her.
Her eyes roamed across your body as she formed her words. "I've thought about those days that you sat between my legs in the office, oblivious to everything. And how I wouldâve liked to wrap your hair around my hand and bend you over my desk, fucking you senseless until my name is the only word that's falling from your lips over and over again. Iâve imagined leaving marks all over your skin, in hopes that it will be a reminder that Iâm the only one who gets to touch you,â she had leaned in over you, her breasts pressed against you as she spoke into your ear, causing your breath to hiccup.
She pinched your chin between two fingers, running her thumb across your bottom lip. "Prove itâ fell from your lips, barely above a whisper, and flipped a switch in JJ, entirely spurring her on.
In seconds, she had yanked off your clothes, dropping them to the floor. Roughly flipping you over, she pressed your face down into the pillow, silencing your gasps. "Don't move,â she commanded. You heard her cross the room and quickly return.
Positioning your body how she wanted it, her hands gripped your hips roughly, pulling them up. She dragged her nails up your spine and laughed menacingly as you yelped when she grabbed your hair. Your entire body tensed, back arching, as the tip of her strap brushed against your ass before teasingly sliding down across your folds.
Tugging your hair, she yanked your head closer to her. "Be as loud as you want, baby. Itâs a shame nobody can hear you through these walls. Iâd love for them to know how easy it is to get you begging for my cock,â she chuckled, before unexpectedly and roughly thrusting into your cunt. She kept a tight grip on your hips, holding you up against her so that she could hit deeper inside of you and elicit more moans that you attempted to muffle into the pillow in front of you.
You bit down on your tongue in an attempt to be quiet, the noise she was getting from you was almost embarrassing, and tears formed in the corner of your eyes. JJ leaned down, swiping the drop off your cheek with her finger, a contrastingly gentle action. The sound of skin slapping skin filled the room.
Your nails dug into the cushion in front of you, and your thighs clenched as you neared an orgasm. "Fuck JJ,â you panted as flashes interrupted your vision.
Her response came back cold and unaffected. "Beg me, beg me to let you come,â she demanded, rhythmically continuing the thrusts of her hips. You were hesitant to ask for such a thing, let alone beg for it, to give her permission and control over your entire body. One hand drifted up to your chest, and she pinched your nipple, rolling it between the pads of her fingers. The stimulation was not helping your resistance, and a whimper escaped you.
Please, I need you to let me come. Iâll do anything, please please,â You started rambling mindlessly, desperate to do anything as long as you could finish this orgasm.
JJ smiled at your instant obedience and was satisfied. Her hand snaked around your body and between your legs. A shaky scream erupted from your throat as she curled two fingers against your clit. You quickly fell over the edge. Your vision danced in and out as you orgasmed, and your legs quivered, eventually giving out. You came on JJâs pink strap and fingers. She slowly removed herself from inside you and brought her fingers to your mouth. Forcing your lips apart, she pressed two fingers to your tongue. You closed your lips around them, and her eyes glinted as you sucked them clean. âGood girl.â She flipped her hair over her shoulder, smiling as if she were victorious.
The rest of the night was a blur. You were exhausted. You briefly remembered an attempt to clean yourself up with JJâs help but ended up falling asleep right where you were. JJ, much more alert than you, was also schemingly the first to wake up the next morning when your phone rang. Her eyes darted to you, relieved to find that you were still sprawled across her bed, where she had carried you, and you fell dead asleep in the living room. She was relieved to find your eyes still closed, fluttering with dreams. Reaching for your phone, she had no hesitation about picking it up. "Hello,â she answered softly.
"Hi Y/N, this is Elise from yesterday. Iâm calling back about the apartment, room 505?â
"Oh yes, of course. Thank you so much. Actually, Elise, about that..."

Magnum Opus Ch. 2
When an MIT prodigy on their gap year is contacted by the FBI regarding potential involvement in a series of murders in Washington D.C., she must now cooperate to uncover how paintings are mysteriously appearing at the crime scenes.(Written with Season 1-4 Spencer in mind, but the timeline could be anywhere pre-season 12. No mentions of past cases)
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Artist! reader|cw: Canon-typical violence|word count: 2.6k words
Notes: I made up a bunch of chemicals and their chemical properties up so shhhh!! Also, I'm not American, I have no contextual understanding of the distance of one place to another. The US is large enough.
Also on Ao3!!
Series Masterlist
âAnything new?â Rossi asked as he and Prentiss returned from the crime scene, making his way into the space the MPDC made for the BAU. Surveying the area as he does before stopping abruptly.
âForensics are running tests on her stuff. She brought everything in. Apparently she didnât know anything about the murders before we interrogated her.â Morgan shifts his weight from leaning against a desk to approaching JJ who motions for his help across and out of the room.
âAnd sheâs here with us in the room, why?â
Hotch feels the scrutiny of his friendâs eyes, so he turns his sight away from where you and Reid stood.Â
âReid doesnât think she fits the profile and wants her insight on the case. I trust his judgment, so I allowed it.â
âYou said that?â Emily asks with furrowed brows.Â
âWell, non-verbatim, I said that her knowledge onââ
âAnd you allowed our prime suspect to help with a case?â The unit chief sighs when Dave interrupts Reid but stays firm.
âI donât enjoy the idea of it either, but sheâs the only lead we have.âÂ
Rossi shrugs, but keeps a watchful eye on the young pair. Only turning away when Emily starts to debrief the earlier crime scene.
She recounts that they had found Jonathan Edwardsâ body, aged 28, seated on the previous apartment ownerâs couch. One hand across his chest, and the other placed on his lap. A pose that they assume was the closest their unsub could get to mirroring the man in the painting.Â
Same M.O. Cleaned wounds, no IDs, sharply dressed.Â
The dark haired woman adds the pictures of the crime scene to the growing collage on the board.
Seeing all of this was like a backstage view, which excited you! But knowing that your work might have inspired someone to kill? Not so much.Â
âWhen you look at the victimolgy, there are no obvious links. Their occupation, race, and gender are all different. Our unsub here seems mission oriented, only targeting people that bear a striking resemblance to Dr. L/nâs subjects and murdering them in their own homesâŚâ
You sigh as Spencer continues, eyes searching though the unsettling images.
âTheyâre someone that the victims mightâve been interested in. Someone that could contact them or schedule to meet in a formal setting. The victims werenât reported missing until they didnât show up for work, suggesting that they had met in private on their off hours. Theyâre also highly educated, likely with a background in chemical engineering or a related field with permission to operate in a lab. Or at least a private space like one. This level of intelligence is evident in the precision the bodies were handled with and the synthesized 5-durastelene in the paint.â
âSo weâre looking for someone who is charismatic, well connected, and had access to a lab at some point.â Emily simplifies.Â
âTheir area of activity is concentrated in the east.â You mention, looking at the map and noticing the pattern of the bodiesâ location as it crosses three states. âThatâs probably their comfort zone. They either live there or are stationed there for their job.â
You assess the distance. âAssuming the place those three were killed and the place they were found are different, he must be comfortable traveling with a body.âÂ
He shifts his focus from the board to you, but you keep your vision stationary. âDo you know anyone like that? Someone from there that youâd be on unfriendly terms with? A colleague, a mentor?âÂ
Well that caught your attention.
â...You think theyâre trying to incriminate me?â You feel the space between your brows twitch when you ask. Still staring at the map.
He frowns a little at that and responds. âDo you think theyâre not?â
âWellââ You start, but then feel nervous feeling all the attention on you. Youâre a little overwhelmed, but press on anyway. âIâm not saying that, it justâseems like a few âwhyâsâ are missing.âÂ
Why bother adding a painting? Why bother even making them? Why bother mixing durastelene, a compound that would definitely alter the paintâs integrity given its properties, to replicate something the public wouldnât even know you made? All questions you asked with a more steady tone.
âLetâs not get carried away, kid. Weâre trying to see the big picture first.â The senior in the room says.
Picking at the skin of your lips, you acquiesce and turn to finally look at Spencer.Â
Spencer feels his eyes flick to your fingers first then to your eyes. âI think theyâre trying to send you a message.âÂ
He looks back to the pictures of your paintings on the scene. Trying to see if heâs missed something.
âThey might believe that by recreating your work, theyâre challenging youâ establishing a level of superiority. You said that no one should have access to your paintings, so this must have been someone that once knew you intimately and is now mocking you to make a point. Itâs not just about incriminationâtheyâre trying to reach out to you.â
You feel the space between your brows twitch again.
You can think of a few people who might dislike you; competition is expected in the academic world. But the obvious signs of fixation on you suggests two possibilities: you're either being seen as a rival or as an idol.
Itâs unlikely that anyone sees an unemployed PhD student with burn-out syndrome as a worthy rival.Â
And something tells you that if they really wanted to place the blame on you, they wouldnât go this far, in this way.Â
They might as well have left a note with your name on it and that wouldâve been more believable.
Then again, you could just be wrongÂ
Youâre in a room full of professionals. Youâre speculating based off of a theory that might not be applicable to your situation due to a variety of factors. Thereâs a reason this is their job and not yours.Â
You take this thought in stride with a deep intake of breath and now slackened shoulders before responding with a careful nod.
âIf thatâs the case, then I think itâll be a little hard to find someone that meets the criteria. I didnât really have friends when I graduated from MIT, and even if I did, they wouldnât know about my artânot because I kept it hiddenâ! Itâs only because I started painting when I left.â
The team looked a bit sad at the revelation of your almost non-existent social circle, but quickly acted like what you said was normal.
âLetâs focus on anyone that you had worked closely with then.â You nod at that and start discussing possibilities.
â-------------
Spencer is thankful for Hotchâs suggestion as it diverts the earlier attention away from him. He wouldnât have minded it at any other time if he wasnât too preoccupied with thoughts of you.
Thoughts of you with regards to the case, he finds himself justifying to no one in particular.
Everyone has tells. A gesture, a change in posture, nonverbal cues that give someone away. Theyâre hard to hide because it's in human nature to have them. Trying to keep them hidden is essentially like holding your breath. Suspending the inevitable will only make the tells much more noticeable.
And you donât seem to be doing that.Â
On the contrary, itâs the presence of your micro reactions that are throwing him off. He has noticed five pauses, four instances of rapid eye movement, three tonal deviations, two quirks in your glabella, and now your previously leveled shoulders have dropped.Â
Maybe itâs because heâs spent a lot of time with people who try to hide them, but seeing an overwhelming amount of tells manifest in you has him scrambling to figure out what each one means.
Within the two hours and 33 minutes that have passed since he was allowed into your home, the only thing heâs found out about you through your interactions is that youâre disorganized, youâre insecure about your intelligence, and that you donât like being called doctor.Â
All superficial quirks. Two hours is too long a time for him to have only figured three things out.Â
Heâs missing something. Or maybe heâs not looking at it from the right angle.
Before he can think more on the matter, his mind refocuses on the team.Â
Penelope had called them to say that she had gone through lists of attendees from all the conferences youâve spoken at, both private and open-house events, at Aaron Hotchnerâs request.Â
âI was able to pick out a few names that are poking around here and there, but Iâm going to need a little more than that, my dear comrades! Sifting through names of geeks isn't really my favorite pastime.â
âPen, narrow down the list to names from MIT. Weâre looking for a student from the Chemistry programs or a lecturer that might have access to a lab.â Emily supplied, leaning onto the table where the blonde was on screen.Â
âDoing just that andâoh! Would you look at that! Looks like the tools arenât as diligent as they claim to be.â The mocking tone in her voice causes a small smile to creep on your face.
âCaltech?â The bubbly woman snorts at that.
âAnyone in their right mind knows itâs the superior choice! Tech geeks hate MIT.â
âDonât let our tools hear you then, we have a history of going nuclear.â That certainly earned you a giggle from the woman on the other end.Â
âThereâs a sense of humor I can get behind! Weââ
âGarica, focus.â Hotch said with urgency.
âYesâI will! I am! So focused in fact that Iâve got a few names, but only one is super consistentâLecturer Dr. Annaliese Andrews! Looking up this nerd as we speak andâ!âÂ
You all heard the hitch in her breath.
âOh noâŚ.â
âGarcia, what did you find?â
The BAU and you were silent for a moment before Penelope composed herself. âDr. Andrews owned a lab near the Charlesâ river.âÂ
She shows its location on screen and a picture of your mentor, Dr. Andrews with a notebook in hand, posed in front of it. The picture was from her social media update, and it couldnât have been taken more than a year or two ago.
âShe built it herself in the 80âs and maybe she wasnât keeping up with safety protocols but eventually a fire broke out, and sheââ Then you see a news headline of the same lab on fire.
âHow long ago was this?â Hotch demanded. This got the attention of everyone in the room.Â
âUh,â Penelope sat in her office, frantically typing until an article showed up. âThis happened around nine months ago, but it says here that her next of kin decided to keep the property.â
Theyâve found a stressor.
âThatâs impossible.â You countered. âDr. Andrews had no family. No husband, no kids.â
âWho is the property under now?â Rossi pressed.Â
Muttering under her breath, she continues to search.Â
âSays here a month later, a workshop was built right where the lab wasâ Aha! Itâs under 35 year old Liam Turner, freelance photographer. Heâs got a studio on Bay State Road.âÂ
Penelope pulls up an image of an almost unremarkable looking man on screen along with a scan of his BA in Visual Studies from Harvard.
âWhat the hellâŚâ You donât recognize this guy at all.Â
âDo you know him?â Hotch asks and you say no with a shake of your head and upturned brows.
âRight now, Iâm not seeing a connection between these two eitherâanything you guys can give me?â
You want to interject. Something about him seems familiar, but you donât recognize him from anywhere.Â
You want to askâ noâit wouldnât be your right. They can figure this out themselves and you're still a suspect! Besides, youâre not even sure ifâÂ
âDo you want to say something, Y/n?â
Your head shoots to the voice and you see Spencer staring back at you. Mouth slightly open which lets you know the question probably came from.
Maybe itâs because he used your given name, maybe itâs the heavy feeling in your stomach. But regardless, his question certainly makes space for you to voice your thoughts as the room awaits your reply.
You feel your shoulders tense as you speak. âWas his name in the list of attendees?â
Garcia checks quickly but she shakes her head to say no. You thought so.
You ask a different question. âThen uh, can you pull up surveillance footage at any of the conferences?â
She does just that and presents a split-screen video from a month before you graduated. One camera was stationed at the back of the room, and the other overhead from where you stood. She speeds it up as the team watches not much movement until Spencer points something out with a start.
He gestures to the upper right corner where a lone camera man stands on the side, and asks their tech analyst to zoom in.
There lied the face of the man from earlier search with a camera in hand. The thing that makes him special though, Spencer says, is that based on the angle he was holding the lens at, he was focusing only on you and not on your projection.
âHe was in the room, but not in the list.â He furrowed his brows.
You shook your head. âHe probably wasnât an official attendee, someone that a lecturer couldâve requested the assistance of last minuteâ anyways, can we see where the pictures he took were used? Like articles, tabloids?â
âAbsolutely, just give me a secondâŚâ You all watch a bunch of sites pop up as Garcia combs through anything that may be related.Â
In no time however, she comes across a website.Â
There on the screen, for all of the team to see, was a blog, or maybe a portfolio, that had snippets from interviews, headlines, and pictures that featured you. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it looks like any image of you that would show up if you were googled were credited under him.Â
Conferences. Campus surveys. Even candid conversation with school representatives.
Penelope digs deeper until she finds the first upload. A picture of a sunset taken somewhere on a bridge with a notebook and pen on its ledge. Though it might not have been enough for most people to recognize, Spencer notices it immediately.Â
âGarcia, can you pull up the picture of Dr. Andrews with her lab?â
She does just that and he only needs one look before he turns to address his colleagues. âThe notebook is the same! His initials, âL.T.â are on her notebook cover, and this picture!â
And as much as you wished you could sympathize with Spencerâs excitement, you were feeling very overwhelmed at the moment.Â
Case and point; first you find out your mentor is dead, then you find out you have a stalker that possibly hates your guts. Find out that said stalker may or may not be related to said mentor, who may or may not hate you, and now you have to digest the possibility of him being a murderer as some sort of vengeance arc?
You shake the thought away.
The tie between him and the victims is still something you donât get. Clean wounds, no IDs, sharply dressed.
 So you ask.
âAny chance the victims visited Turnerâs studio before they disappeared?â
Analog photo developers have no problem working with a lot of chemicals, and IDs are commonly taken for legal confirmation, you share with the team. The only reason theyâd be dressed like that was ifâ
âTheyâ-all booked an appointment with him.â
You almost regret asking.
