She listens, she blinks.....and then she smiles and laughs.

It’s not a mischievous laugh, or a bitter laugh, or any type of laugh at him really. She just couldn’t help herself! 

“I’m sorry! I just.....I wonder if that’s how I sound when I talk to people - though I’m certain words like that sound better coming from you. Regardless, that’s the plan! Always has been. Don’t worry about the ‘what ifs’ and just do it to learn from the experience. Words to live by - not just with magic but with life in general.”

She’s not even sure how they got on the topic. He was just the type of personality that was so easy to talk to about anything. Approachable, charismatic, the type of person most wish to be. Honestly....the very opposite of her, she felt. Dark, intimidating, unapproachable - or how she was used to it, anyway. 

Still, he had no issue talking with her, and it was a nice change of pace. For a moment she’s zoned out after saying her piece, thinking about those ‘words to live by’. She felt a bit silly saying that was ‘always the plan’ when it was more like ‘just recently became the plan’. Ah, it is what it is. 

“I’m Neff, by the way.” Her words seemed to have made their way out before she returned back to Earth, eventually making eye contact once more and returning the smile. “I don’t think I introduced myself, so I figure we should after talking like this.”

It had been years since they’ve chatted, and there was a glimmer of guilt at the thought in Danny’s baby blue eyes. He needed to get out more. He needed friends.

willing to sacrifice himself.   it’s not a secret to him that he’s willing to put his life on the line for xayah. rakan cares too much about her, he wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice himself if it could ensure her safety, ensure her happiness, ensure her a brighter future, he’d be ok with trading his life for hers. he’s aware that it would hurt her. he’s aware the of the dire consequences, but he’s unwilling to change his ways. xayah is his world, & if it meant dying to protect his world, he wouldn’t need to think twice. this is the extent of his love & his care for her. whether she wholeheartedly accepts it or not, he doesn’t know, but he stays resolute on this choice he’s made.

excessively prideful.   one could describe him as narcissistic, a vastaya that’s self-centered without a lick of altruism -- scratching off the altruism part, they would be right. rakan is vain, & he’s not ashamed of it. he knows he looks good, he knows he dances good, & most importantly, he knows he fights good. his cockiness can either attract more people ( which, if it does, it’s fulfilling that desire for attention, so he deems this pride of his to have its perks ), or it can drive them away. one thing’s for sure, rakan’s pride is one of his greatest flaws.

impulsive as all hell.   no matter how much you may inform rakan of a schedule, a plan, anything, he’s bound to forsake it & opt for what he relies on best: his own instinct. while this benefits him, insofar the can improvise on the spot & make a plan work in an unorthodox manner, this impulsiveness could be the death of him. he is a man who follows his heart, acts on his gut’s warning or approval of a situation, all with one goal in mind: keeping xayah safe or keeping her out of danger.

feel his emotions on a deep empath level which results in almost giving him a hug but then quits last minute and tries to act cool once nehan inevitably notices him

          Wise choice.

          It’s a moment’s glance that he directs to crew member, leaving it at that to direct his attention back to the paperwork he’s out filling. Unless you’re in his office for an appointment, or speak to him first ( other than choosing a dick option, where he would knock you out for 3 days ), there’s not much else to get out from him.
