Parnelli Jones dives out of his car after it caught fire in the pits during the Indianapolis 500 auto race May 30, 1964. He suffered burns and was hospitalized but was not seriously hurt. Jones, won the 1963 Indy 500.

Rufus Parnell "Parnelli" Jones was an American professional racing driver and racing team owner. He is notable for his accomplishments while competing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Baja 1000 desert race, and the Trans-Am Championship series. Had a chance to take in an HSR event at Watkins Glen this past weekend. Pretty much historic and former racecars getting out of on the track to stretch their legs. A good mix of cars from newer DPi cars to old Porsches. Fun event, if there is one near you I highly recommend, it's a very chill event.
