Jason Todd: Should’ve - Part 3
Request: Are you planning on writing a part 3?
A/N: This series went further than I thought and I’m not even finished yet...
>>>>——————————>
~ Part 1 ~ Part 2 ~ Part 3 ~
[Unknown: (Y/n) please answer me, you need to talk to someone.]
[Unknown: It's gonna be fine, you've gotten through worse. I'm the prime example so I know you're strong enough, you always were.]
[Unknown: I don't expect an answer, but a simple 'I'm alive.' would do.]
Regardless of the ID displayed, you knew it was Jason and how he'd heard about your current state eluded you but you suspected Roy had mentioned something. Your brother figure still updated the rebel on your antics whenever Jason asked it of him despite your adamant protest, which was coincidently as frequently as Roy was in contact with him.
Of course you ignored it, the sole reason your phone hadn't been discarded or tossed across the room was because it was your saving grace as well as your constant annoyance. 1 message was all you wanted, other correspondents be damned. Kyle had gone MIA on one of his Lantern Corp missions and as the month dragged on each day heightened your vulnerable state. You knew your friend was due back weeks ago, and your closest relations knew it was tearing you apart but you'd kept yourself busy throughout that time - at least until it became a possibility that he was deceased, killed in the line of duty.
That was when you broke.
Almost as badly as when Jason left.
Almost.
Slinging your archery kit over your shoulder, you opened your apartment door and stepped over the threshold before your gaze followed the heavy leather boots up to meet surprised vibrant irises. Instantly you furrowed your brows out of old frustrations, it had become a habit now, an instinctive response to his name and his presence.
"I was gonna knock..." Although your coldness didn't phase him, instead he internally chastised himself for taking so long to build up the courage to do so - embarrassed that you'd caught him before he had the opportunity to act on his thoughts but you'd always made him nervous when expressing concern - simply because he usually doesn't to someone he has feelings for.
"What are you doing here?" He winced at the venom in your beautiful voice that still brought a sense of security to this dangerous world of his.
"You didn't answer, so I decided to get one from you."
"I'm alive as you can see. You got your answer."
"I know you and Kyle -"
"You don't know anything. Just go!"
"I know that you'd do anything for the people you care about and the fact Rayner is off world means it's killing you that you can't help him! I know that you're upset he could be dead so I'm here to be an outlet for you or something!"
"Take my feelings out? On you?! You're kidding me right, I'd kill you for everything you did!"
"As long as you'd be better for it, I'd let you..."
You turned around and slammed the door behind you, Jason completely ruining your motivation to train. He'd confused you just as he always did, why would he show up now? You remained on hateful terms and he knew you resented him yet in your moment of grief he displays consideration. Where was that 8 months ago?!
"C'mon (Y/n) just let me in. You've gotta talk to someone about this." His tone was softer, the floorboards outside of your door creaking with each step toward your barrier until he was right outside.
You slowly slid down to the doormat, head against the oakwood as a magnitude of thoughts ravaged your mind but one impulse remained bitterly prominent.
"Just leave me alone Jason." You whispered, knowing that he remained outside of the door despite the silence. "It's what you do best after all."
You'd given it about 15 minutes after your cruel words, thinking things over and assuming he’d left before you stepped out of your apartment - an unexpected groan echoed from your hardwood floor, the male wincing as he hit it the moment you opened the door since he was leaning against it. Though surprised that Jason had waited regardless of your standoffish attitude, you simply stepped over his body with a roll of your eyes.
"If you're still available I'll take you up on that idea of yours."
And so you did, you went up to the roof of your apartment complex using the owners key you'd copied as soon as you'd moved in as Jason silently followed. You dumped your kit by the exit as the cool breeze danced across your skin and you circled the area to face an opposing Jason who wasn't quite expecting you to go through with his plan.
"We're really doing this?" He seemed nervous, running a hand through his hair as he gave you a concerned glance.
"Don't look at me like that, this is what you wanted isn't it?"
It was merely sparring to begin with, your movements becoming stronger as your anger grew and your emotions began to reveal themselves from the dark abyss you'd forced them into. They'd plagued your mind bringing memories with them, your movement dying down in their ferocity to the point where Jason effortlessly caught your fist in his palm and allowed your other to hit his chest. It was then that he noticed the tears in your eyes, threatening your pride as they slipped from your lashes and the hand he captured intertwined it's fingers with his own causing his heart to skip a beat.
Jason hated the undeniable hold you still held over him, it seemed unbreakable - he'd thought it'd fade over time but the night he saw you everything came flooding back, he fell all over again even though all you did was push him away. Here you were, this time consumed by loss and tired of fighting, you were melting into him for comfort and he knew he should've pushed you away, should've left you again like he'd done so reluctantly beforehand.
Yet despite his mind screaming for such a thing, his body and heartstrings were wrapped around your little finger, he'd already embraced your broken form and taken in your intoxicating scent as you tightly returned the affection, desperately holding in sobs.
"I miss him Jay." Your fingers clenched the back of his jacket as he felt empty at your words, a sense of loss almost because they were about Kyle Rayner. Not Jason. He tried to cover it but his tone was soft and bathed in regret.
"I know..."
"It hurts, it really hurts and I don't know what to do anymore."
You sobbed harder and the both of you remained for what seemed like hours until you finally pulled away with a quick mutter of 'I'm fine now.' and he walks you back to your apartment - hesitating when you left the door open as invitation.
Jason took the time to admire rge interior, a taste true to you rather than that of safe houses and hotels although he still felt tension in the air but distracted himself with the forgotten documents on your coffee table. It was nothing of importance, the vigilante more interested in the sketch pad below them and flicked through each skilful drawing before stopping on one in particular.
It was more beautiful than the rest, though that could be personal opinion but it seemed as if more time and care was put into it to ensure it was perfect.
“A self portrait, really (Y/n)?”
“What are you talking about smartass.” You mused, placing 2 glasses of water on the table raising a brow at your guest.
“This one.” Jason handed the book to you, instantly revealing what seemed to be a reflection. The image displayed yourself from the elbow upwards with a soft smile, sitting casually on the window ledge with a mug in your hands as your gaze drifted to the city skyline.
“It’s Kyles, I didn’t realise he left it here. I knew he could draw, he’s a graphic artist after all, but this is...” Your fingers delicately traces over the intricate lines and then to your friend’s signature.
“Breathtaking.” Whether that was meant for the artwork or the person depicted in it you’d never know, yourself entranced by the work and as a result you missed the heartbroken expression Jason wore as he’d spoken.
“Yeah.” You agreed, still distracted.
“(Y/n) where were y- ah.” The voice startled your concentration, a pleased smile appearing on your lips once you’d recognised it.
“Artemis?! What are you doing here?” The ravenette exclaimed, looking between the two of you in confusion.
“What are you doing here Jason?” The Amazonian wittily responded, hands on her hips as you knew you’d have to piece everything together for them.

Part 1 | Part 3
Having the office so empty and silent was a strange feeling. It was odd - unexpected, because you’ve only been staying here for a day. After such a short period of time, Pride didn’t think your presence to already become so ingrained in the place, but it is. He keeps expecting to hear you coming down the stairs. Or to call out from the kitchen if he wanted some coffee.
His gaze breaks away from the monitor subconsciously, traveling to your empty desk. It’ll be filled, soon enough, once you’re back from requestioning a couple witnesses of the team’s newest case with Tammy. Still, Pride can’t help but miss the image of you sitting at your desk, where you belong.
And, admittedly, he was a little lost in the fantasy. It took Roy calling out his name for Pride to snap back into reality, head whirling around to entrance. And out of every person in the city, he wasn’t expecting to see Roy escorting in a familiar face.
Jason. The ex who made you cry just yesterday.
The sight of him instantly puts Dwayne on high alert; not many people can force the easy-going agent into a state of caution and suspicion. Hamilton, definitely. People who Pride knows are dangerous. And there was a time when your boyfriend was as far from that feeling as a person can be. There was a time when Dwayne considered him a friend, because he was led to believe that he treated you right.
But seeing Jason walk through the door so casually, Pride couldn’t stifle the rising heat of anger in his gut. The memory of you soaking wet and crying and tugging a bag of luggage behind you was still very fresh in his mind.
Somehow, Pride is able to stand and walk over as politely as he would a stranger. “Thank you, Roy,” he dismisses the officer, who turns and walks back outside, leaving Pride to deal with Jason by himself.
For a long couple seconds of silence, Pride is trying to reel in any angry words from the tip of his tongue, and Jason waiting for the agent to start the conversation. If Dwayne had it his way, he’d grab the other man by the back of his shirt and throw him out. Threaten him not to come around here again.
Instead, he puts on a tight-lipped smile, hands hanging by his sides. “What brings you here?” Pride asks. Perhaps the question itself was blunt, despite a flat and nonchalant tone. But Dwayne can’t find it in himself to care how your ex takes it.
Jason merely blinks, moving past Pride and tilting his head to look over at your desk. “I wanted to talk to Y/N. They didn’t come home last night; I’m a little worried.”
Like hell you are.
“Where are they?”
Pride exhales slowly, turning and watching the other man look around the office. And there’s a certain feeling of satisfaction, knowing your clothes and your coat and your unmade bed are just upstairs. “Not here,” he answers curtly. “Believe it or not, Y/N’s got work to do.”
A low, thoughtful hum comes from Jason as he turns to look at Pride. And he forces himself not to seem outright hostile when the other man starts coming closer at a leisurely pace. As if this were any other day and he hadn’t upset you so much. “Well, can you tell them I stopped by? And I wanna talk?” Jason asks. To his credit, he looks mostly genuine. Like he really wanted to talk and patch things up.
But Dwayne isn’t swayed by good acting. It doesn’t even occur to him that he may be a little biased because of last night. “I doubt Y/N wants to talk to you. After everything you put ‘em through-”
“What I put them through?”
“I suggest you go home.”
No more tight politeness. No more forcing his tone to be neutral. His suggestion is more like a warning without the actual words, and Jason’s just bright enough to pick up on it. He looks like he wants to argue, but while in the NCIS office against Dwayne Pride himself, he won’t win.
Jason’s head ducks low as he walks past the senior agent, and Pride watches him leave through narrowed eyes. And the satisfaction of watching the scummy man leave with his tail between his legs is ruined, because Pride isn’t stupid or naive. He knows he’ll try again, when Dwayne isn’t around. Try to get you alone and prey on the vulnerability he caused.
The realization pisses him off, and it’s difficult to get back into the swing of working the case.
--
Gregorio was the first to go home, since she’d been running around with you all day. Sonja and Chris left together; Pride wouldn’t be surprised if they were going to unwind at the bar for a little while. The case has proved grueling, and evidence for that can be found in the way Dwayne’s eyes ached with exhaustion. Going to sleep sounds damn good.
But you weren’t here yet. And it concerned Dwayne.
He tries to busy himself with work for the hour that stretches since Chris and Sonja left. Tries to keep his mind off the worst case scenario. Pride is close to calling your cell before you finally come through the front doors, looking just as ragged and worn as he feels.
Still, the sight of you pulls a smile onto Dwayne’s face; at least you weren’t with Jason. “You’re out late,” he comments teasingly. You only respond with a half-shrug, so he pushes on. “Case keep you out? Somethin’ I should know about?”
“It wasn’t about the case,” you reply lightly, keeping your eyes down all the way to your desk. And you’re about to leave it at that; Pride wouldn’t push for more information if you didn’t want to offer. But your next words come out without even thinking, “Jason called and wanted to talk, so we had dinner.”
Dwayne freezes, his blood suddenly feeling like ice, and he doesn’t respond right away. His stunned silence doesn’t help to loosen the knot in your stomach. It was frustrating that the knot was there in the first place; you were talking to Jason again. Trying to fix things between you. The giant fight was over.
So why were you anxious?
After a few long heartbeats, Pride slowly rises to his feet. Juggling with his words because he doesn’t want to offend you, but he can’t just stay silent. After today, Dwayne was absolutely certain on his position on the matter. “You’re not thinkin’ about going back to him, are you? I mean, you deserve better than him.”
“Pride-”
“He made you cry. Made you walk in the rain by yourself-”
“And he also said he thought long and hard about what I said. About not choosing between him and this job.” Your eyes finally rise to meet his, steady and firm. But Pride knows you better than you think, and he seems that tiny inkling of doubt.
It pulls him closer. He wants to argue; tell you that it would be a mistake to believe it.
But before Pride can even start thinking of a smart way to say just that, you continue, “Besides, I don’t want to stay here for too long. Who knows how long it’ll take to find a new place; your bedroom’s small enough already.” You try to play that last part off as a joke. There’s a half-smirk on your face, but Dwayne doesn’t share it.
That can’t be the only reason. “Y/N, don’t let me influence your decision. You know damn well you can stay here for as long as you need to. I only care about what’s best for you.”
Dwayne isn’t being biased. He isn’t. Staying away from Jason is what’s best, even if it means staying here.
The eye contact didn’t last very long. Again, your gaze drops away, head nodding slowly while you pad toward the stairs. “I’m going to bed,” you tell Pride in a low voice. And he can only stand and watch you ascend the stairs, fighting the instinct to follow you. Convince you that staying here, with him, is the better option than settling with Jason. Forget about the awkwardness and any conflicting feelings from kissing at the bar; this was about your future.
But he stays downstairs. Long enough to assure you went to bed and fell asleep. And Dwayne doesn’t even pretend to work anymore; he stews in his own thoughts, trying to wrap his head around what could make you want to go back to him. Was staying here really so bad? Did the night at the bar truly affect you so much?
And how much did it affect Dwayne?
He never answers his own questions. Instead, he puts a pin in them and climbs up the stairs into his dark and silent bedroom. Your soft breathing can be heard from the tiny bed, and Dwayne wishes he can block it out as he changes from his work clothes and lays down in the cold sheets.
Sleep doesn’t come easy, and Dwayne honestly didn’t expect it to. He just stares up at the ceiling, deciding on the best course of action.
And he decides that convincing you to truly break things off with Jason is the only way to assure your happiness. Whatever the cost.

jason todd: brought in at age 16 (a few months after steph was adopted) and became batboy. after discovering that he was the long-lost twin brother of cassandra cain, immediately started to reconnect & discover the truth of their parents. this crusade, unfortunately, led to the deaths of both jason & cass at the hands of the joker.
cass cain: discovered a few weeks after jason todd was adopted and brought in, only to discover that she & jason were twins. she became batgirl & along with her brother, aimed to figure out who their parents were. she died before she could discover that it was shiva & cain. lady shiva teamed up with talia al ghul to bring cass back to life so cass could join the league of assassins and/or shadows, as she was the best fighter known to either woman. this backfired on them, and now cass roams gotham as the red hood, seeking revenge for her brother’s death & trying to have a healthy & functional relationship with her siblings & outlaws.

kara zor-el: cousin of kala, kara was sent to earth to look after her cousin but knocked off course along the way. she landed when lois had already been superwoman for several years, but was quick to join up as supergirl. kara has been adopted by lois and in her civilian life goes by kara lane.
conner lane: kon is lois’s clone. he initially started fighting crime as supergirl red, but once figuring out that he was a boy, became superboy instead. he lives with kara & lois in wayne manor, and goes to school with steph at gotham university
flashfam:
iris west-allen: after jumping in front of her friend barry before a bunch of chemicals got stuck on him, she was hit by lighting and granted with superspeed, becoming the flash. since then, she’s married barry, helped found the justice league, and is thinking about settling down (for a little while) to have kids (she knows it’s gonna happen sometime). for now, though, she’s decided to continue to be the flash and resist the urge to ask bart how pregnancies work if you have superspeed and your kids are going to, too.
barry allen: the regular dude husband of iris. he loves his wife dearly and sometimes wishes he could help out, and has settled in the role of providing food for the speedsters all around him. turns out he makes a pretty good chef!
wally west: the nephew of iris who gained his powers by asking her, repeatedly and excitedly, how she got hers. after obtaining these powers, he proceeded to make himself a costume and go as KID FLASH. he fell ill due to puberty with super speed, but has since recovered and became another flash. barry & iris adopted him when he became kid flash
bart allen: a time traveler from the future, bart’s orgins are pretty much the same. he likes to hang out with the titans and cook with barry and play tag with wally (tag with speedsters is. fun.) he’s impulse.
avery ho: she got superspeed for reasons unknown to anyone just yet and was brought in by iris & wally. since she had perfectly able parents she wasn’t adopted but she was given the role of kid flash. now she helps iris or bart or wally and hangs out with the titans and goes to family dinners at the west-allen house.
wonderfam:
diana trevor: wonder woman & an amazon warrior who’s hundreds of years old. she’s been on themescyra for years but has recently emerged after a pilot on the way to vietnam crashed landed on her island, leading her out to try and help resolve the conflicts. in doing so, she helped with the situation in the vietnam and helped found the justice league. she’s currently an ambassador who works for peace and tries to spend time with her husband.

cassie sandsmark: diana worked at a museum as a hobby and picked up cassie as a sidekick. the role was solidified when helena died in an explosion and donna managed to save cassie’s life. she took cassie in after discovering that cassie’s father is zeus and cassie became wonder girl after gaining her powers.

mia lance: she used to be a sex worker but connor & crazy arrow guy helped her get out of it, and then dinah adopted her and connor and they became the arrow canaries. which is kinda a dumb name but also kinda cool. sometimes mia looks out the window and wonders where the heck arrow guy went, but oh well.
emiko queen-lance: emi escaped from her mom and went to star city hoping to find her brother after rumors of him being alive resurfaced, but instead got brought in by black canary and arrow canaries and red arrow and now she’s red arrow. go figure.
roy harper-lance: roy left the navajo reservation to get his hands on some drugs, but then he was kicked out for good and stuck on the streets, and then black canary showed up and decided to take him in, which is cool, and now he’s red canary and has to manage a bunch of random kids dinah thought it would be a good idea to adopt. which is fine.
lanterns:
hal jordan: the first green lantern of earth, now a crotchety old man who lives in the city and shakes his fist at the teens and really wants some peace and quiet. the other human lanterns come visit him, at least one visit a week, and they’re saving up to buy him a plane (but shhh, don’t tell him)
alan scott: the second green lantern of earth and hal’s husband. they’re both retired and have both pretty much adopted the other human lanterns & like to ask them when they’re gonna have kids so alan and hal can have grandkids already.
john stewart: [tbd]
guy gardner: [tbd]
kyle rayner: [tbd]
jessica cruz: she used to be the green lantern of earth, but now she’s the personal-representative/bodyguard of princess koriand’r of tamaran. that’s just how things go sometimes. jess and simon are in love but also great at communicating, so it’s okay if jess flirts back when kori does.

garth: he works for mera in the castle & is her apprentice in wizardry
catfam:
kate kane-kyle: after getting kicked out the army for being a big fat lesbian, kate was a little lost until she met selina kyle at an lgbt support fundrasier. it was pretty much love at first sight, and now they’re married and live in bludhaven.

harper row: right before leaving gotham, the kyle-kanes picked up harper & cullen on the streets. they adopted them and took them to bludhaven with them, and now harper is catgirl with her moms.
cullen row: cullen lives with his moms and sister in bludhaven. he’s catboy and is constantly annoyed with the jokes harper likes to make about their household being split into bis and gays. he does like going to pride as the catfam, though.
the clovers: claire and her brother hank were inspired by the cats and decided to become heroes themselves, due to a combination of claire’s ballet skills and hank’s wrestling skills. they were quite frankly awful at hero-ing, but selina felt bad for them and decided to train them. hank and claire moved in next door to the kyle-kanes and were all but adopted by selina & kate. claire is night and hank is shadow.

courtney whitmore: she discovered she was a she had powers when she moved to keystone. she started sneaking out and practicing with her powers, & when a aestroid almost fell on keystone, courtney slapped on a mask and stopped it with her bare hands. she took the star-gold from within the aestroid and with her beams of light fashioned them into a belt and staff, which helped her harness her powers. since then, she’s become stargirl and nowadays she likes to hang around gotham and flirt with spoiler (the OG one, not the duke one)
koriand’r: starfire crash-landed on earth, kissed the first police officer she saw, fell in love with him, and had a kid. now she’s in space with jessica cruz, negotiating peace on tamaran and flirting with green lantern, waiting to return home to her daughter.
the kents: after clark & lana got married, they moved to metropolis for a fresh start. lana works at a florist shop & clark’s a reporter--the reporter who gets all the superwoman stories, actually. they have two daughters, carol and mia. mia, the younger of the two, is secretly a meta and she can fly. her dream is to be a superhero one day like her hero, superwoman. carol’s dream is for her sister to stay safe and for carol to grow up to be just as awesome as her hero, lois lane.
kathy kent: she was sent down to earth after the destruction of her planet. after her grandfather died, she lived with lois for a time but then was adopted by clark & lana, who are normal enough to take proper care of her and loving enough to be good parents for her. she’s around mia’s age and loves her sisters and new parents.
klarion the witch boy: he was sealed from his own dimension and stuck on earth for the time being. he’s currently rooming with steph and looking for ways to get back home, of course getting into trouble while he waits.
zatanna and john: a week after zatanna ran away from her father, she ran into john and they started running together. they grew up on the run, weaving in and out of dimensions and trying to master magic. these days they help klarion or the justice league. neither of them are members of the jl but they are the primary resource on magic (they’re also in love)

Jason Todd/Red Hood X Reader- Stalker From Another Universe (Final Part!)
Yay I’m back! I hope you guys enjoy the last part of Stalker From Another Universe. I will not return to my usual posting schedule, but I will post whenever I can.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12, Part 13
Warning: Angst... I think that’s it.
Calming yourself, you looked around and told yourself that you had saved every reality from your father, but it still felt wrong to permanently end him. Despite him being evil, the image of him before his hunger for power was still fresh in your mind. The memories of him made the ache in your chest grow, the feeling of loss and grief flooding your senses. Choking back a sob, you covered your mouth with your hand, pressing your eyes shut. An overwhelming amount of emotions took over, but they were not your own. Placing your hand to your chest, you focused on the energies of your people, freeing them after many millennia of being trapped. Once you opened your eyes, your mother and the hundreds of survivors were in front of you. She looked around, immediately flying over to you and wrapping her arms around your torso.
“I’m so proud of you,” she stated, pulling away. “I knew you wouldn’t fail.”
“I saved this universe and the rest, but what of our people?” you asked, gesturing around you. “The thousands have now diminished to hundreds. Father is nothing but a memory, and I have stolen his lifeforce along with the ones who he stole from. It feels… wrong, unnatural.”
She looked down, light blue light slowly shining from her, “There is a reason why we outlawed this, (Y/N), but we cannot do anything to fix this. Once one’s consciousness is separated from their essence, it cannot be undone.”
“I know this,” you stated, “but it is not reassuring. I have every one of my father’s victims’ energy absorbed into my own, it feels… empty.”
“These feelings will disappear,” your mother said, “but it will take time.”
You nodded, looking around you and surveying the smiling and rejoicing your father’s defeat. If only they could feel the despair you felt.
“Go find your soulmate, (Y/N),” she said, gently placing a hand on your cheek. “You do not need to worry about us. We will spread throughout the universes, watching and protecting like we did before. We will prosper, I know it.”
Nodding once again, you turned around and created a portal with a wave of your hand, entering the universe you called your home for so long.
---------------------
Looking around, you noted how busy the convention was. Humans ranging from child to adult shuffled, walked or ran past you, some carefully evading in order to protect pieces of their costumes. Booths filled with merchandise could be seen as you navigated through the crowd, scanning the area for Jason. You knew where he was, his energy was significantly more vibrant than any other human in this universe. After a few minutes of walking, you finally found Jason sitting on the ground, reading something. Many bags were next to him, making you raise a brow.
“I never thought you would blow your money on stuff like this,” you said, smiling slightly.
Jason shrugged, “This is what happens when you leave me alone with over three hundred dollars for five hours.”
“Point taken,” you said, extending a hand. “You ready to go home?”
“I have been ever since I got here,” he replied, grasping your hand.
You pulled him up, wrapping your arms around his waist as soon as he was standing. Jason slightly stumbled back, placing his hands on your back when he regained his balance. The two of you remained there for a few more moments before releasing each other.
“I never expected it to hurt this much,” you said, waiting as Jason picked up the bags from the floor. “It was necessary, but it still feels wrong.”
“Taking a life always feels wrong, no matter how much evil they have done,” Jason stated, placing a hand on your shoulder, “but it puts an end to what damage they could have done in the future.”
You sighed, “I know this, it’s just… killing a human cannot be compared to killing one of my kind. A human can be killed with nearly anything, but there’s only one thing that can kill my kind, and that is one of our own.”
“Sounds personal,” he said, looking around. “Let’s go home, I feel like a warm bed and drinks would help.”
You smiled, thinking of the last time you were at the apartment,” Okay.”
With a blink of an eye, you teleported yourself and Jason back in his universe. Without another word, you plopped down on the couch and wrapped yourself in your blanket. Your actions weren’t meant to warm you up, your body didn’t need to regulate heat due to being comprised of pure magic, they were more for emotional support. The normalcy of gripping tightly onto the blanket reminded you of before you faced your father, when you were still clueless of who you really were.
“Your favorite,” Jason said, making you jump slightly.
You looked up, shocked that he already had a steaming mug in his hand. Taking it, you shifted so you could hold it without spilling. Jason sat next to you, taking a sip from his mug before placing it onto the small table by the couch. He grabbed one of the bags and pulled out a thick book before leaning his head on your shoulder, snuggling to your side.
“I found this at the convention,” he said, wiggling the book before exchanging it for your mug. “I think it’s a rather interesting read, don’t you?”
You examined the cover, looking over every detail. There was a drawn version of you and Jason together, the magic of your true from rising from your skin like smoke. Jason had his Red Hood uniform on, but his mask and helmet were gone, replaced by a perfectly drawn smile. Heroes crowded around you, but left enough space to make the cover not seem too overcrowded.
“How much of this did you read?” you asked him, running your fingers over the drawing of you.
“All of it,” Jason answered, watching as you flipped open the book. “It explains everything.”
You froze as soon as you saw the label ‘Near the beginning of time’ displayed at the upper left hand corner of the page. As your eyes traveled down the page, the exchange between you, your mother and your father before his thirst for power took over. You flipped through a few pages before reaching what you were looking for. Frozen in a page was where you lost your memories, your mother tearing away the piece that was missing from between your collar bones. The next image was of you being forced into a portal, your being fading into the human form you had when you first were brought into Jason’s universe.
“I guess I now know how you felt when I told you that your story was recorded like this,” you whispered, staring at the image of you. The pure look of terror on your face made you queasy, but you continued to flip through the book. “I see they have the incidents Roy caused in the kitchen.”
“That’s not the only thing,” Jason said, reaching over and turning the pages.
You smiled as soon as you saw the image of you and Jason in the Watchtower with everyone else. The shocked expression on Jason’s drawn face made your smile grow.
“This is when you found out we were soulmates.”
“Constantine sure knows how to break good news to you,” he said, chuckling.
“Well, the artist captured your expression perfectly,” you laughed, closing the book and handing it back to Jason. “Who knew that the stalker from another universe would be soulmates with Jason Todd.”
Jason smiled, “Who knew that Jason Todd was capable of finding someone to love forever despite his quirks.”
“I fell in love with those quirks before I met you.”
“Now there’s the stalker I fell in love with.”

10 Important 2021 SEO Trends You Need to Know
It’s time to take our annual look at what’s ahead for SEO professionals in 2021.
If you want the TLDR, here it is via Lily Ray, SEO Director, Path Interactive:
“Above all, a great SEO strategy should start by putting yourself in the user’s shoes and asking yourself if the content is truly valuable, the brand is trustworthy, and the website is easy to use (especially on mobile).”
So true!
But there’s much more to dig into when we’re talking SEO in 2021.
So what SEO strategies and tactics will work and help you dominate in the SERPs and earn more revenue in 2021?
This is the question we ask every year here at Search Engine Journal.
This year, I asked 42 of today’s top SEO professionals for their thoughts.
Here are the top 10 trends you need to know in 2021, according to the experts.
Want all the SEO trends now? Download our new ebook: SEO Trends 2021.
Trend #1: Focus on User + Search Intent
In 2021, it’s time to focus user and search intent.

For real.
While this is hardly a new trend or concept, every year it’s important to refocus because searcher intent and behavior is changing all the time. Especially after the year that was 2020 when so much rapidly changed.
“At the core, Google (and other search engines) is a place to go when people want to answer a question or to learn more about something,” said Jenn Mathews, SEO Manager, GitHub. “When we understand the nature of why people search and help them with content that provides the answers they are looking for then our business benefits from it.”
So what does this mean for your SEO efforts in 2021?
According to Britney Muller, SEO Consultant & Data Science Student, Britney Muller LLC, it means SEO pros will need to transition away from traditional best practices that will hold less value as the algorithms get stronger (e.g., trying to write meta descriptions for every single page) and focus more on better understanding what’s happening within the SERPs/searcher intent.

“Google houses the world’s information and they know what the majority of people searching ‘x’ seek,” Muller said. “Paying closer attention to search results will give SEO pros a leg up in creating competitive content in the way that searchers desire to consume it.”
And many other of our SEO experts agree with Muller. This includes Andrew Dennis, Content Marketing Specialist, Page One Power.
“Google is already showing you which results it thinks serve users’ intent, use this data for your own strategy,” Dennis said. “For me, SERP analysis will be an important practice not just in 2021, but moving forward as search intents change and Google continues to become more sophisticated to keep up.”
It’s clear to Marie Haynes, CEO, Marie Haynes Consulting Inc., that if you want to win at SEO in 2021, you’ll need to do a stellar job of providing information to users.
“Google will get even better at recognizing when a searcher is looking for expert advice and will rank those posts above articles written by content writers who are lacking E-A-T,” Haynes said. “The SEO pros who will be successful in 2021 will be those who can truly understand how to meet a searchers’ needs.”
How?
Here’s advice from Adam Riemer, President at Adam Riemer Marketing:
“Brands are going to need to forget about themselves and cater to their visitors.
This includes:
Copy that addresses the visitor’s needs and concerns and not copy that talks about your products, your company, or why your product is good.
A quick website that renders and stabilizes fast.
Not making people work to find your content or to spend money with you. No forced pop-ups, registrations, etc.”
With Google focusing more on satisfying user intent, Steven van Vessum, VP of Community, ContentKing, said it’s more important than ever to focus on learning what a user is looking for.
“In terms of the actual answer – but also their preferred content type (e.g., video, podcasts, or PDF),” van Vessum said. “Because figuring out queries’ user intent by hand is very time-consuming, keyword research tools that let us quickly do this at scale will overtake those that do not.”
Alexander Kesler, CEO, INFUSEmedia, offers some additional advice on understanding the search intent of your ideal buyer and driving meaningful revenue for your organization.

“Analyze the search data and on-site journey of any organically acquired leads – not just the search terms that they used to find your content, but also on-site search and highlighted keywords for all pages that they visited,” Kesler said. “Aggregate that data and map it to a content journey.”
Trend #2: Customer Analytics, Retention & Lifetime Value
SEO used to be (mostly) about driving traffic. But SEO has evolved into much more.
As Miracle Inameti-Archibong, Head of SEO, Erudite, noted, in 2021 you will be pushed more and more to make the traffic you have to work harder in order to close the gaps in revenue and demonstrate ROI.
So, in 2021, data on behavioral analytics will become the hottest commodity.
“With Google evolving faster and faster to give instant satisfaction, taking responsibility beyond visits, as well as marrying up UX, conversion, and revenue have become even more important,” Inameti-Archibong said. “Keyword volume will take a back seat and it will be more behavioral analytics – what your customer is doing, how they are doing it, and how we can get them to do more of it quicker – and reverse engineering that to the content you produce.”

John McAlpin, SEO Director, Cardinal Digital Marketing, agreed. He pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that keyword research isn’t always helpful when the world is in constant flux.
“In order to differentiate ourselves, we’ll see SEO pros dialing back keyword research and elevate first-party user research,” McAlpin said. “ This research unlocks hidden opportunities with service offerings and content ideas that keyword research may not tell us.”
With fewer dollars to go around, businesses will need to focus far more on customer retention and increasing customer lifetime value (LTV) than ever before, said Stephan Bajaio, Chief Evangelist and Co-Founder, Conductor.
“Your post-acquisition content must answer the questions, concerns, and needs your customers are expressing in search and you need to show up for those terms. If not, you will risk others influencing them away from your brand,” Bajaio said. “It will be about understanding your customer best and providing them with valuable content, or risk losing them to someone who understands them better… introduced to them by their trusted friend Google.”

Izzi Smith, Technical SEO Analyst, Ryte, expanded on this idea. She encourages companies to provide stronger customer and self-support services online.
“First of all, establish a process with sales and support staff to ensure that you are aware of important and incoming questions or requests that can be resolved with help articles,” Smith said.
“Dig into your Google Search Console keyword data with common question modifiers to find relevant, existing topics that should be catered to. Make sure these are answered concisely and factually and published to a related FAQ topic page,” she added.
Bottom line, according to Smith: “Help centers and FAQ sections should be created with UX at the very forefront, and should not be a single, unmaneuverable page of questions.”
One of the keys to attracting and retaining customers comes down to a single word: value.
That’s why Julia McCoy, CEO, Express Writers / Educator, Content Hacker, said you should make value a heavy focus in 2021.
And a big part of that comes from your content.

“it’s easier than ever to lose grasp on the real reason we retain the trust and attention of our audience: by giving them value,” McCoy said. “We retain interest and build trust with our readers when our content is the most comprehensive, practical, and useful piece they’ve interacted with when searching Google. That kind of content requires focus, time, commitment, investment, to create.”
Trend #3: Brand SERP Optimization, Knowledge Graphs & Entities
In 2021, tracking brand SERPs and knowledge panels will become the norm, according to Jason Barnard, The Brand SERP Guy, Kalicube.pro.
“In 2021, the reality that entity-based search starts with Google’s confident understanding of who you are, what you offer, and what audience you serve will gain enormous traction,” Barnard said. “Savvy marketers will truly get to grips with looking at their brand as an entity and start to work in earnest on Google’s understanding of the ‘who you are’ part of that trio by creating or improving their presence in the Knowledge Graph.

In fact, Nik Ranger, SEO Specialist, thinks we may start to see personalized knowledge graphs starting in 2021.
“Google has access to so much information about you, your search history, emails, social media, and other types of user information that they have the ability and means to scale personalized knowledge graphs,” Ranger said. “Qualifying the relationships between the legitimacy of author credentials to content, in addition to the way Google perceives value from content, will be ever more important.”
What does this all mean for SEO In 2021?
It means optimizing your brand’s entire digital presence (e.g., your YouTube channel, images) and how Google features them, said Patrick Reinhart, VP for Digital Strategies, Conductor.
“These days it’s not just about your website, it’s about all of your owned properties and how they interact with one another on the SERP,” Reinhart said. “If they all come together through various snippets, does it tell a good story about your brand?”

John Shehata, VP, Global Audience Development Strategy, Condé Nast / Founder, NewzDash.com, goes further, adding that SEO pros must understand the complex concepts behind topics (entities, subtopics) and natural language processing (NLP) and how entities play a role in Google rankings.
“Forget about TF*IDF, keyword frequency, and start focusing on entities, topics and start utilizing Google Natural Language (and/or other similar SEO tools that provide NLP analysis),” Shehata said.
“Search engines are getting smarter by the day and they have a good understanding of queries to an extent beyond keywords used in such queries,” Shehata added. “Don’t get me wrong, good keyword research is still needed but it comes secondary to understanding the topics/entities related to the query and the intent behind the query.”
One place where there are no keywords at play is Google Discover.
So the only way to optimize for Google Discover visibility is by establishing your entity in the knowledge graph and honing how it is connected within the topic layer, according to Jes Scholz, International Digital Director, Ringier,

“The first step every SEO pro should take is to track their brand’s result score in the knowledge graph API,” Scholz said. “Then, work on activities outside of having great content to drive their presence in the knowledge graph.
Some of those activities to focus on in 2021, Scholz said, will include:
Ensuring a complete and correct organization markup.
Establishing a presence in relevant knowledge bases such as Wikidata.
Claiming your knowledge panel to use the posts by Google feature.
For physical businesses, setting up your Google My Business profile.
Trend #4: Core Web Vitals & Page Experience Optimization
With Google introducing Core Web Vitals as a ranking factor in 2021, page experience metrics can no longer be ignored, according to Areej AbuAli, SEO Manager, Zoopla.
“Websites and businesses need to prioritize for them to ensure they don’t fall behind their competitors,” AbuAli said. “Make the most out of insights provided via tools such as Lighthouse and Crux API. Everything from page speed, mobile-friendliness, rendering, image optimization, and security protocols need to be optimized for.”

In addition, Rachel Costello, Technical SEO Consultant, Builtvisible, said we should be looking at how a page makes a user feel, not just whether the page is accessible and comprehensible to a search engine crawler.
“This will involve us taking a user-centric approach with our optimization efforts, including a keen focus on:
How quickly and smoothly pages load.
How soon pages become responsive to user interactions.
How easy a website is to use and navigate on mobile devices.
The safety and security of a site’s connection as users are browsing through it.
“Incorporating page experience into your SEO workflow will not only help to future-proof your website’s performance and rankings ahead of the upcoming algorithm update, but it can also help to improve UX and conversions now,” Costello said.
You also need to make sure that Google can access the best content on your site from everywhere – and make sure your site has a measurably better user interface than your competitors, noted Jess Peck, Senior Analytics Consultant, CVS.
“Measure, test, and use machine learning to look at your content – this will give you a huge leg up,” Peck said. “Google’s focus on Core Web Vitals shows that they’re starting to measure how annoying sites can be, so give your users a pleasant experience and Google will do the same for you.”

Trend #5: All SEO Is Mobile SEO
Ensuring your content/website performs well from a mobile perspective should also continue to be a focal point as this is where the majority of searches are being conducted, said Jeff Riddall, VP Product and Customer Success, Mintent.
“What type of experience do your users have when accessing your content and trying to find answers on their mobile devices?” he said.
That’s why Brock Murray, Co-founder, seoplus+, said a big SEO focus in 2021 must be mobile device user experience (UX)
“The best thing you can do when it comes to mobile UX is to think about the user first,” Murray said. “Simplicity in your design is the key. Also, be sure to personalize the website content and elements based on your user.”
But there are many more reasons all SEO is now mobile SEO, as explained by Shelly Fagin, SEO Director and Founder, Highly Searched, Inc.
“Google will essentially be ignoring your desktop site. Your mobile site will determine your rankings,” Fagin said.
So if you’ve been focusing on meeting the bare minimum requirements to be considered mobile-first, 2021 is the year to shift your focus to improving that experience for your users.
“Don’t just settle with getting passing scores and consider it a job well done,” Fagin said. “It’s time to closely review your pages and make sure they are intuitive for your users, are easy to navigate, and you aren’t hiding valuable content and images on mobile devices.
“It’s OK to have a different experience between desktop and mobile, but It’s important to know that Google will no longer be ranking your desktop and mobile experiences differently,” she added. “If you still have a separate mobile site, now might be the time to reconsider migrating to a mobile responsive site instead.”
Trend #6: Assess, Adopt & Execute
In 2021, prepared to work harder than ever before to assess, adopt, and execute, according to Motoko Hunt, President & International Search Marketing Consultant, AJPR.

While the basic skills and knowledge are still important, your brain needs to be flexible to adapt to the rapid changes.
“Thinking outside the box will be more important than ever. The business opportunities are still out there. If it’s not where you normally look, you just need to find where they went,” Hunt said.
It will also be important to be proactive in 2021, said Corey Morris, Chief Strategy Officer, Voltage.
“Maybe this is more of a theme or mindset than a trend – but seeing it as a recognized need and something many are arriving at makes it a trend for me,” Morris said. “Now is the time to get organized, build a plan, develop a process, and get ahead.”
A shift to more strategic SEO will be critical to stay relevant and stay top of mind for consumers’ attention in 2021, said Andy Betts, Search and Digital Advisor & Consultant. He recommends pivoting your approach from a singular focus on just consumer behavior to a dual process that involves understanding the market in which these consumers operate first.

“Take a more strategic and blended approach to understand what’s happening in the market, where demand has shifted historically, and where it is changing in real-time,” Betts said. “Take a consultative approach to understand how economic, sociological, and psychological factors impact search demand and then look at understanding consumer behavior and intent at a granular level. Utilize all tools, platforms, and sources of business intelligence at your disposal.”
Trend #7: More Automation
If we look back at the increasing number of SEO tasks that we are able to automate in 2020 (structured data generation, quality content, etc.), the possibilities for 2021 will be mind-bending, said Hamlet Batista, CEO, RankSense
“Expect the quality and quantity of the AI-generated content to increase dramatically. It will definitely create a bigger challenge for search engines to keep spam out of the index,” Batista said. “Human-in-the-loop automation to make sure the value is high for search users will be the main focus to avoid penalties and remain competitive.”

Jesse McDonald, Global SEO Strategist | Optimization Lead, IBM, believes one of the biggest trends in SEO for 2021, especially within in-house roles, is the continued focus on creating more scalable solutions for optimization utilizing automation.
“Over the last couple of years, more and more of the industry-leading tools that many SEO practitioners use in their day-to-day work have been releasing automated functionalities to roll out site changes. It’s almost like adding another member of the execution portion of the team,” McDonald said.
“The implications of this are particularly interesting for in-house roles because it can help implement low-hanging fruit elements without having to justify the importance of the change to move to the top of the sprint schedule,” he added. “Thus, freeing up the SEO to focus on additional strategic elements for improving site performance.”
Trend #8: SERP Layout & Functionality Changes
Dave Davies, Duke of URL, Beanstalk Internet Marketing, expects to see a big change to the entire way content is viewed and laid out on websites change – thanks to Google Passage Ranking.
“Why have a page on a general topic, and sub-pages on specifics, when you can have one long page for it all and know that Google will drive the user where they need to go? Isn’t that the best of both worlds? And they’re doing similar in video.
Cindy Krum, CEO & Founder, MobileMoxie, has been talking about this – what she refers to as Fraggle optimization – for a good while now. And she said doing things to help Google identify and rank passages will be a big new SEO trend in 2021.
“Fraggles (or passages) are important because they really improve Google’s ability to find and lift exactly the information that users are looking for,” Krum said. “Strong page and schema structure help with Fraggle/passage optimization, but it will likely also be important to have text that is easy for natural language processing to evaluate and has a high readability score.”
Trend #9: Long-Form Content
Ron Lieback, CEO/Founder, ContentMender, said one trend to help you outrank your competitors will be consistently publishing longer-form content that appeals to Google’s E-A-T guidelines, as well as emotion.
“Throughout 2020, I consistently witnessed blogs over 2,000 words dramatically outperform blogs of 1,000 words or less,” Lieback said. “Expect this long-form content trend to continue in 2021, and as more and more websites follow this trend, the length will get larger – maybe even toward that 2,500-3,000 mark for a blog to rank well over others.”
Trend #10: SEO Scalability
2021 should be your year to build scalability into your SEO if you’re going to get ahead of your competition, according to Mark Traphagen, Vice President of Product Marketing and Training, seoClarity.
How?
Traphagen shared these three tips:
List all the tasks, processes, and workflows you do on a regular basis. Determine which steps in those could be automated or better handled by use of a tool.
Set up an alert system that monitors significant changes to things like rankings of your important keywords, flip-flopping URLs ranking for the same keyword (URL cannibalization), page content changes, URL changes, etc.
Establish SoPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for any regular tasks you can’t automate so your team isn’t wasting time reinventing how to do them each time they need to be performed.

England collapse AGAIN! Hosts’ Ashes dress rehearsal continues to go badly wrong
Even a lusty late blow that gave England the chance to save his face on Thursday could camouflage the sad size of an Ashes dress rehearsal that was very wrong has gone
The second day of what was meant as a gentle warm-up exercise for the larger battles in front of us changed into another mess for an English side that simply cannot do the simple disciplines of batch testing during test competitions to carry out.
They couldn't have gotten better into Lord & # 39; s position to recover from the shame of the first day they were scratched by Ireland and do a very important red-ball exercise.

Certainly, at 171 for one on a flat pitch against an aging Irish attack inexperienced at this level and wilting in the balmy heat, could even England make a decision ive score?
Not a bit of it. Instead, they just gave it all away in a miserable show of rather pathetic batting that in many ways was even worse than being demolished on a first green morning before 85 while still in a post-World Cup flight of euphoria.
When the lightning threat cut off another tumultuous day here, England had bumped to 303 for nine and a lead of 181 that should yield a test of Irish courage on Friday, in view of what was the biggest victory in theirs would be history of cricketing
But although England is somehow triggering another dramatic escape, they must be extremely worried about batting that has not been able to keep Ireland & # 39; s colorful. County crew can handle hopeful and misfits, let alone Australia's pedigree attack.
Nothing embodied their own lack of courage and better than the resignation of a man who should have set a good example in Joe Root.
While the captain was there, England would be convinced honeybee to build on the perfect platform laid by the unlikely pair of night watchman Jack Leach and rookie Jason Roy and complete the recovery from their first day of misery.

Yet inexplicable Root cam charging the field to Mark Adair, again impressed for Ireland, and cut a loose ride to G Ary Wilson who left England for seven years and was dependent on a desperate counterattack by Sam Curran and Stuart Broad to continue hunting.
Perhaps frustration in making just 31 of 64 balls or maybe Root was still stuck in one-day mode, but his capitulation was an indictment of England's total attack policy, which sometimes needs to be easily moderated in the longer form of the game.
Root was not the only one among England & # 39; s World Cup winners who simply did not look in the right mood for this competition, but at least had a good reason to play as the captain of a side start of a series of six tests in just over seven weeks.
Jonny Bairstow does not have such an excuse. It was left to every player in England to decide if they wanted to rest after the huge mental effort of winning the World Cup, but Bairstow insisted he didn't want to join Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler on the sidelines.
Perhaps he didn't want to give Ben Foakes another chance to impress with the gloves, but during this one-off test, Bairstow seemed distracted and the most gloomy pairs completed when he was lbw to the rampant Adair.
a World Cup hangover, also for Moeen Ali who seems unable to buy a big score and resubmit himself when the pressure was up, while Chris Woakes pursued a loose drive to to add to the first day of bowling that was shot in pace.
Jack Leach salutes the dressing room and audience after scoring a brilliant first Test 50
Leach had entered as a night watchman on Wednesday but flew up smoothly day two
Jason Roy then scored his own test 50 after a typical aggressive game
At least Roy among the & # 39; World Cup five & # 39 ; did himself a power of good with 72 of 78 balls that showed how he could remove a test or two from Australia if the force was with him in the coming weeks.
It was perhaps relevant that Roy's contribution came in number 3 because of the protection offered to him by a night watchman in Leach on the first day instead of the first berth where he was thrown back in next week in Edgbaston.
It is still those oh so awkward top three that will be England's biggest concern next week with nothing that happened here to take away concerns about problems ahead when Mitchell Starc and his Birmingham company came to call.
Rory Burns was introduced to Test Cricket because of its productive form for Surrey, but with a technique that seemed unsuitable for the highest level. Now that the runs have dried up, he is left with a jumble of moving parts and major concerns about what awaits us.
The captain of Surrey will start the Ashes, not least because of the lack of options, but the odds against him were the completion of the series here extended after a second failure when he was far too loose on Boyd Rankin pushed and advanced to Wilson.
Joe Denly is another man who is certain to start on the Ashes, but he could hardly do it now after he had been chilled in blood by his captain when he answered a call from Root and then stranded and ran away. An opportunity wasted but not Denly's fault.
Of all the batsmen who wished England to spend time on the fold, Leach would have come a long way on the list, not least because it is still very unlikely that he will appear on Edgbaston despite
But it was the Somerset spinner who took the lead with a provocative and courageous 92 before he became the fifth English night watchman in Test cricket that fell in the 90s when Adair finally took hold of the fourth grasped opportunity offered by Leach.
He may have been lucky to have fallen to 64, 72, and 92, but this was an extraordinary attempt by Leach who, in his glasses, looked at the & # 39; bank clerk who went to war & # 39; appeared in David Steele when he defied the Australians in 1975.
While Leach and Roy were together, everything was calm but when Roy missed an expansive ride after a score of 146 – that will happen to him and we'll have to accept it – the gates suddenly opened and Ireland burst through.
Leach played some stylish shots despite being at no. 11 came in the first innings
Tim Murtagh was the danger man for Ireland on Wednesday but was less effective
As Ireland's Friday history goes sch they will earn it thoroughly, but when England comes out of jail, questions remain. The world cup now looks a terribly long time.
There was another bat failure for Jonny Bairstow, a couple in this competition that the Yorkshireman crashed again after his World Cup heroic deeds.
And Joe Denly was hit by Kevin O & Brien after a horrific confusion with Captain Joe Root, because he was denied the opportunity to build a good form for the Ashes, who will be in a week from start going.
England's hope for a moral-promoting victory here Root and Moeen Ali, although at least there was help from the 72 of 78 balls of Jason Roy put together.
After being dropped twice, Leach was eventually caught on 92 runs, which fell shortly after a century. Mark Adair had dropped him a little earlier, but he finally held him.
Leach made a considerably better fist of his assignment than Rory Burns, who scratched six around and looked less regularly and less noise than his temporary partner.
When Burns Boyd Rankin gave a nick to wicketkeeper Gary Wilson, this was a flat end to a disappointing first home test that resulted in ten runs and many more concerns.
Roy was also nervous early on but still found a way to keep things moving, with his first four scoring shots all boundaries. Only one was completely convincing, two more were lightly striped and the other sailed off the edge through the vacant third slip area.
There was a big declaration of intent when he found his feet and Andy McBrine picked up the attack for six, and he reached his fifty in just 47 balls with an authoritative cut Stuart Thompson.
That shot took the scores at lunch, at which point Leach had chiseled a steadfast 60, not built around solid judgment and a series of clean journeys.
Going well and playing straight with the full face of the bat, touching one stage and hitting four boundaries in seven balls in a performance that took the first day of first order to pity.
England advanced for the first time in the game in the opening during the afternoon session, Roy hit Rankin to midwicket, but Leach was about to dominate the procedure.
It was a sizzling day in Lord & # 39; s when Leach and Burns found their way out on the field
He fell heavily at 72, Rankin drew the error and Wilson inexplicably let the ball run out of both gloves. Encouraged, he attacked.
An uppish was cut over the back point, a lob that had been avoided halfway through, and a beaten disk that sheared to the ropes. A misfield at cover later and he had darkened the miserable day of the whole team, a total of one.
Roy tried to defend himself again in a thriving drive with Thompson, but paid with his stumps to creepily end a promising outing.
The stars seemed to be aligned when Leach Murtagh enveloped the second slip and was mowed by Mark Adair, but when the experienced sailor made a replica chance three balls later, the catch was taken.
Ireland seized the opportunity to recreate the game, dropped two more for tea
Joe Denly hit 10 after a bad mix with Joe Root, while Jonny Bairstow packed his second duck the competition, a tight lbw after working overtime from Adair.

For the week of 10 December 2018
Quick Bits:
Astonisher #13 adds Ryan O’Sullivan to the writer’s chair alongside Priest as this arc takes an interesting turn. The idea of the red parasite that’s been haranguing the planet since the first issue being fractured and confused pretty much turns the first twelve issues upside down if it’s indeed true. Great art from Al Barrionuevo, Rodney Ramos, Matt Banning, and Jamie Grant.
| Published by Lion Forge / Catalyst Prime
Avengers #11 takes a very different approach than the first ten issues or so as Jason Aaron throws more plot developments at us than Ursus Major hurls insults. It’s interesting as it works through the building problems with the US government, attempts at building a coalition of nations assisting the Avengers, Thor and Jennifer Walters’ date, and the surprise heel turn of a once deceased SHIELD agent. All with wonderful art from Ed McGuinness, Cory Smith, Mark Morales, Scott Hanna, Karl Kesel, and Erick Arciniega.
| Published by Marvel
Batman Annual #3 features a very sweet story from Tom Taylor, Otto Schmidt, and Troy Peteri that focuses on Alfred and all that he sacrifices and takes on himself in order to ensure Bruce can continue in his chosen vocation. The art from Schmidt is perfect and the heart and soul, complete with some very nice humour, that Taylor instills in the dialogue and narration are a very welcome change of pace from some of the grim and gritty takes on Batman. I think we need more Batman stories like this.
| Published by DC Comics
The Batman Who Laughs #1 is an interesting counterpoint to the Batman Annual, with a tale of body trafficking, alternate Batmen, and death from Scott Snyder, Jock, David Baron, and Sal Cipriano. It’s dour, bleak, and even more violent, even with corny insurance jokes. I can’t say it’s bad, though, the mystery is interesting, the art is wonderful, and there’s one hell of a cliffhanger, but it is dark.
| Published by DC Comics
Bitter Root #2 features some amazing artwork from Sanford Greene and Rico Renzi. The designs for the monsters, Jinoo or otherwise, are amazing and the feel of the colours, purples and greens, just bathe the story in an otherworldly glow.
| Published by Image
Black Panther #7 begins Book 2, “The Gathering of My Name”, with Kev Walker and Stéphane Paitreau joining Ta-Nehisi Coates and Joe Sabino to provide the art for this story. It’s a little more focused than the first arc, delivering a solid plan for the rebels to reclaim their identities.
| Published by Marvel
Captain Ginger #2 keeps things purring along as the Captain and Ramscoop leave off to follow a signal that they hope will bring them to another ship of cats. Then everything goes to hell aboard the mothership. Love the artwork from June Brigham, Roy Richardson, and Veronica Gandini. There’s also the usual prose pieces and a Hashtag: Danger back-up comic to round out the issue. “Company Policy Regarding Eel” from Mark Russell with a spot illustration from Ryan Kelly is particularly humorous.
| Published by Ahoy
Champions #27 concludes the Weirdworld arc and this volume of the series with the power of friendship. It’s actually a pretty good character arc for the former Nova and some neat stuff you wouldn’t necessarily have expected from Viv. Amazing art and designs from Max Dunbar and Nolan Woodard.
| Published by Marvel
Daughters of the Dragon #2 continues this digital original with a slightly different approach from the others, presenting an overarching story, but within that Jed MacKay is breaking it down into discrete two-part arcs. It works fairly well, giving some very entertaining action stories. The art for these two parts is handled by Joey Vasquez, Craig Yeung, Rain Beredo, and Jordan Gibson and it looks pretty good. There’s some really nice composition in the final confrontation.
| Published by Marvel
Dead Kings #2 is not quite as immediately bleak as Crude was, but it’s pretty close, with Steve Orlando revisiting some similar themes of regret and responsibility in Russia here. This is obviously more fantastical, blending fable and technology in a post-apocalyptic Thrice-Nine, with wonderfully dark art from Matthew Dow Smith and Lauren Affe to bring life to this slowly dying world.
| Published by AfterShock
Detective Comics #994 begins “Mythology” from the new creative team of Peter J. Tomasi, Doug Mahnke, Jaime Mendoza, David Baron, and Rob Leigh and it’s pretty damn good. It feels great to actually see some detective work in Detective Comics and the mystery of why someone would go to the lengths to stage a pair of murder victims to look like Bruce’s parents is intriguing. The art from Mahnke, Mendoza, and Baron is also wonderful. Mahnke’s style is actually fairly restrained here compared to what I’ve been used to, which when combined with this particular blue from Baron, reminds me more of the Batman of yesteryear and the works of Neal Adams, Jim Aparo, Norm Breyfogle, Marshall Rogers.
| Published by DC Comics
Doctor Strange: The Best Defense #1 continues this very interesting crossover event. Gerry Duggan, Greg Smallwood, and Cory Petit deliver a wonderful “Old Sorcerer Stephen” or “Doctor Strange: The End” type tale with Strange being almost the sole wanderer in a world where Dormammu and his spawn have conquered the Earth. It’s bleak, horrifying, and beautifully illustrated by Smallwood. It’s also interesting in how it ultimately dovetails the rest of the event. Although it definitely can be enjoyed on its own, this one gives a couple answers to the broader picture of what’s going on.
| Published by Marvel
Dragon Age: Deception #3 concludes with everyone hating everyone else, more or less, and an interesting revelation about the Magister everyone was so incensed about meeting, killing, and/or stealing from. Interesting new developments regarding the Qunari incursion of Tevinter as well. Great art from Fernando Heinz Furukawa and Michael Atiyeh.
| Published by Dark Horse
Electric Warriors #2 gets into the battles between warriors and the mechanics of those battles, what transfers to whom depending on challenge, as an alternate to war. It’s interesting enough on the surface, but Steve Orlando definitely seems to be building something bigger. Great art again from Travel Foreman and Hi-Fi. The designs for the characters are truly amazing.
| Published by DC Comics
The Empty Man #2 pushes the insanity caused by the disease even further. I’m not sure what’s more horrifying, the actions caused by the effects of the disease or the cult popping up around it. Cullen Bunn, Jesús Hervás, Niko Guardia, and Ed Dukeshire are delivering a fairly visceral, thoroughly brutal, horror tale here.
| Published by BOOM! Studios
Fearscape #3 endeavours to make you hate the series protagonist, Henry Henry, even more than you already probably do with heinous act after heinous act. It is incredible as to how thoroughly unlikable Ryan O’Sullivan has managed to make him that at this point you kind of just want to see him torn apart by pedantic, pretentious literary critics literally.
| Published by Vault
The Flash #60 gives us more details on Fuerza, the new Strength Force user, and her plight against a corrupt police force in Corto Maltese. Joshua Williamson is definitely making these new characters interestingly complicated while Flash tries to understand the new forces. Great art from Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Tomeu Morey, and Hi-Fi.
| Published by DC Comics
Hawkman #7 brings Hawkman a new origin, and a new reason for being, from Robert Venditti, Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, Jeremiah Skipper, and Richard Starkings & Comicraft. This new origin nicely builds on Hawkman’s complicated legacy, not invalidating anything, but enhancing why he keeps being reborn in different places, different eras, and gives him a purpose that’s often been lacking in some of his reboots. Great work.
| Published by DC Comics
Hellboy Winter Special 2018 has a trio of tales, each of them spotlighting a different era. The first is a wonderful traditional Hellboy short from Mike Mignola, Ben Stenbeck, and Dave Stewart of a seance gone horribly wrong as they also seem to. The second builds on the vampire mythology from the BPRD: 1946-1948 series amidst superstitious villagers fearing for their crops from Gabriel Bá, Fábio Moon, and Dave Stewart. And finally a Lobster Johnson tale from Tonči Zonjić of criminals trying to pass off their handiwork as the Claw of Justice. All three stories are very well done, gorgeous art all throughout.
| Published by Dark Horse
Infinite Dark #3 reveals the plans, more or less, that Alvin and Kirin put in place to destroy the station. It’s terrifying, and its source possibly more so. It does kind of make me wonder why people are being driven mad at its reality, though.
| Published by Image / Top Cow
Infinity Wars: Ghost Panther #2 concludes this mini, the last of the Infinity Warps. Absolutely stunning artwork from Jefte Palo and Jim Campbell.
| Published by Marvel
Justice League Dark #6 concludes the Myrra arc as James Tynion IV waxes philosophically through Bobo and Diana about guilt and responsibility, even as the nightmares at the gate get even closer elsewhere. The art from Daniel Sampere, Juan Albarran, and Adriano Lucas is really damn good.
| Published by DC Comics
Magic: The Gathering - Chandra #1 features some very impressive art from Harvey Tolibao, Joana Lafuente, and Tristan Jurolan. Nice detail, character designs, and beautiful colours.
| Published by IDW
The Magic Order #5 delivers one hell of a twist in this penultimate chapter. Also, very inventive methods of torture. Drop dead gorgeous artwork from Olivier Coipel and Dave Stewart.
| Published by Image
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 is a great debut from Saladin Ahmed, Javier Garrón, David Curiel, and Cory Petit. This first issue mainly gets us back up to speed on Miles’ life and supporting cast, introducing and reintroducing the characters and his connections, largely giving narration through his journal, integrating an exercise from his classes to convey the narrative. We get a robbery and a confrontation with the Rhino that sets up the hook for a larger plot and mystery. The art from Garrón and Curiel is gorgeous.
| Published by Marvel
Oblivion Song #10 is insane. Another bit of Philadelphia has been popped off into Oblivion by the less stable of the Cole brothers and this issue is the resulting chaos. I’m still very impressed with how Robert Kirkman, Lorenzo De Felici, Annalisa Leoni, and Rus Wooton are constantly throwing this book into upheaval, with practically every issue giving a new revelation or upending the status quo. This is just great.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Outer Darkness #2 follows up an entertaining first issue with an outstanding second issue, introducing us to much of the crew and more explicitly the types of horrors that they’re going to encounter in space. John Layman, Afu Chan, and Pat Brosseau have something fairly unique here, with the humour just putting it over the top.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #313 brings this battle with Morlun to an end and with it this series. It’s been a decent tie-in to Spider-Geddon from Sean Ryan, Juan Frigeri, Jason Keith, and Travis Lanham, but it is basically a three issue fight scene designed to keep Peter away from the main plot of the event.
| Published by Marvel
Red Sonja Holiday Special has a fairly entertaining lead story of Sonja learning about Christmas and then becoming embroiled in some weird witness shakedown from Amy Chu, Erik Burnham, Ricardo Jamie, Omi Remalante Jr., and Taylor Esposito. There’s also a classic reprint story from Roy Thomas, Frank Thorne, and Mike Kelleher.
| Published by Dynamite
Redlands #9 continues this arc’s structure of beginning with a flashback, this time giving us a hint of what Casper did before he was indentured to the sisters. This one’s a little light on pushing the narrative ahead very far, but very high on building more atmosphere, and developing a potential new problem for Laurent.
| Published by Image
Shadowman #10 has some really great art from Renato Guedes, Eric Battle, and Ulises Arreola. The trade off of sequences for Jack’s confrontation with Sandria Darque and then the flashbacks between Guedes and Battle is very nice, giving a unique feel to both.
| Published by Valiant
Silver Surfer: The Best Defense #1 has some oblique ties to the rest of “The Best Defense” crossover, mentioning whatever this “train” is, but like the others of these first four parts features a largely independent character study. Jason Latour and Clayton Cowles present a twist on a traditional Silver Surfer morality tale by making it a game between the Surfer and Galactus. Beautifully illustrated, tapping into some of the weirdness of Marvel’s cosmic.
| Published by Marvel
Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #3 has Gwen and MJ work out where the Green Goblin’s hideout is with the assistance of this world’s Glory and Betty. This has been an interesting first arc and tie-in to Spider-Geddon from Seanan McGuire, Rosi Kämpe, Ian Herring, and Clayton Cowles.
| Published by Marvel
Star Trek: Waypoint Special #1 is more than worth it just for “My Human is Not” by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Sonny Liew, and Neil Uyetake. It’s an adorable story from the point of view of Spot, beautifully illustrated by Liew. The other three stories in this special also aren’t too shabby, but you’ll want to buy this one for the tabby.
| Published by IDW
Star Wars: Age of Republic - Darth Maul #1 continues this series of one-shots with a spotlight on everyone’s favourite horny Sith Lord from Jody Houser, Luke Ross, Java Tartaglia, and Travis Lanham. The art from Ross and Tartaglia is wonderful. The layouts for many of the action sequences are particularly impressive, knocking things off-kilter to evoke the kind of chaotic fighting style of Maul.
| Published by Marvel
Supergirl #25 goes home to Krypton in the lead story from Marc Andreyko, Emanuela Lupacchino, Ray McCarthy, Lan Medina, Sean Parsons, FCO Plascencia, and Tom Napolitano. It takes Kara’s quest into another different direction, adding another possible impediment in finding everyone and everything that aided in the destruction of Krypton. There are also a couple of back-ups, one fleshing out Dr. Z’ndr Kol and the other a sweet Christmas story.
| Published by DC Comics
Superman #6 has some absolutely stunning spreads from Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Oclair Albert, and Alex Sinclair. The battle between Rogol Zaar and Superman & Zod is incredible, probably some of the best pages I’ve ever seen from Reis. The narration by Superman from Brian Michael Bendis is also interesting as he waxes philosophical about his speed and fighting side by side with Zod. What is less magical is the ending. Superman leaving Zod, even with pressing concerns elsewhere, feels wrong. I don’t know if it’s intentionally a bad decision on Superman’s part that will be addressed, or if it’s just a bad decision from Bendis. It just doesn’t feel like what Superman would do. Otherwise, this is a pretty great issue.
| Published by DC Comics
Titans #31 adds Kyle Rayner to the team as Donna Troy officially takes the lead and a number of the simmering sub-plots converge to kick off a new adventure. Great art from Clayton Henry, Brent Peeples, Dexter Vines, and Marcelo Maiolo.
| Published by DC Comics
Vampirella vs. Reanimator #1 is a damn good start to this mini from Cullen Bunn, Blacky Shepherd, and Taylor Esposito. The art from Shepherd is very impressive. I love the choice to present the story almost entirely in grey tones with spot colours for red and a little bit of sickly yellow, it really makes the art stand out.
| Published by Dynamite
William Gibson’s Alien 3 #2 continues this excellent adaptation of Gibson’s unproduced screenplay by Johnnie Christmas, Tamra Bonvillain, and Nate Piekos. The political aspect and veritable cold war are very interesting additions to the Alien lore.
| Published by Dark Horse
Wonder Woman #60 turns the screw a bit with some unexpected developments for Ares. I’m really liking the art from Cary Nord, Mick Gray, and Romulo Fajardo Jr. While definitely partially the influence of Gray’s inking, Nord’s presenting a somewhat looser, more angular style that reminds me a bit of Frank Miller and Phil Hester which really works for the chaotic and bellicose story.

STUART BROAD: I’m not worried about the blip against Sri Lanka
If you could show someone who could have experienced the defeat of England by Sri Lanka, I would show you a liar.
Everything that could go wrong in the tournament had gone wrong before for the Sri Lankans.
There are reports that they complain about hotels, green fields, training facilities – and they look like a few players from the challenging World Cup team.
The defeat of Sri Lanka in Headingley was a shock, but not a devastating result at Headingley was a shock result but not a devastating "
The defeat of England by Sri Lanka in Headingley was a shock result but not a devastating
England was 100 percent favorites for me, so it was a shock result. a devastating result for England's chances of winning the tournament? Absolutely not.
It would have been nice to be over the top and a win would be guaranteed almost the semi-final place We may have to win one in three to make the semi-final.
We will do that, and I have no doubt that England will be in the semi-final, although the relative thing is that if di It happens in a group game against Sri Lanka,
Behind all the talk of England this year is the fear that they will always go so fast with the bat that they can be blown away by 200.
This was clearly one of those off-days. They happen in cricket.
In defense of the team they have since the end of the last world cup for 230 or less only eight times.

Compare that with the 42 occasions on which they have made their way beyond the 300. That ratio is considerable. So if I were in that dressing room now, the words I'd use would be positive.
I would say & don't step back & # 39 ;, & # 39; do not remove the foot from the accelerator & # 39 ;. it is important to continue playing the incredible cricket we have played over the past four years, as it will pay us back.
Every time England got cheap under Eoin Morgan, the message was
So don't be surprised if this England team comes out of all the cannons flaring up against Australia at Lord & # 39; s on Tuesday
]
Someone like Jason Roy hasn't had much red-ball lately. played cricket and most often hit five and Surrey when he played that format.
It is true that any game played under high pressure is an opportunity to stamp you
So if James Vince 170 does not fall out against Australia's attack on Tuesday, it is then are chances to open or hit at No. 3, is Edgbaston extended on August 1? Absolutely.
Will the match have an effect later in the summer? Yes.

Australia is a better team than the one who toured last summer and David Warner is in shape
the players think about that? Absolutely not, Tuesday's result has no effect on whether Jimmy Anderson forces a David Warner nickname on the first day of the Ashes, but there may be problems in the game that could have an impact.
As for the game itself, Austra lië is a better team than the one who whitewashed here 12 months ago. They are dangerous.
David Warner seems to be in the shape of his life – someone who hurts you on big occasions – Glenn Maxwell appears in the mood to hit every ball he encounters for six faces,
Aaron Finch is a great example of a batsman who finds ways to score points, Steve Smith is their Joe Root, the player who holds everything together, and Mitchell Starc is a natural wicket-taker.
Not that England will focus on the Australian threat. They will be very happy to look around in their own dressing room with players such as Jos Buttler, Root, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood.
It will be a great match with Lord & # 39; s and – a fan from England
This week's circumstances have turned it into an absolute ding-dong of a game .
I am not thinking of Australia here. Look beyond the numbers, I have a good name
The date in my mind is July 24 and the test match versus Ireland at Lord & # 39; s.
At this moment I feel that I am bowling very well, the body is in good condition and I do not think that until this World Cup is done and dusted, everyone in that side of England can confirm.
A lot can happen, there will undoubtedly be many problems and there is a lot of high-pressure cricket that you can play.
At the moment I feel that I am very beautiful bowling and in good condition for the axis "

At this moment I feel that I am really very nice bowling and the
Some of the fields I have experienced with Nottinghamshire in the championship have been slow, low and not friendlier to the sea and part of it is probably due to the fact that we had James Pattinson as a foreign bowler.
For example, we played on a song in Edgbaston where the ball broke through twice to the wicket-keeper in the first session of the first day.
My matchovers are beh have been quite high and my periods between bowling spells were quite low, so I recently missed a few games.
The only thing I'm interested in is my rhythm.
We decided that it would be a good time to go back to bowling and then take it to the Ashes camp. I still have two games to eat – Alastair Cook & Essex, then the Surrey champions, both at home.
Two brilliant games that I hope will end in a great place to be picked for the game in Ireland. I really feel it can be my summer. I have a good name.
The rise of Jofra Archer on the international stage is great for English cricket.
He has a short step pattern, an energetic run-up, rhythmic balance to the fold, a short stride length – meaning he has added control – throws beautifully to left-handed people and pinches them back to right-handed.
The flip side is that he is never taken to Division 1 wicket and we know how different championship cricket is from Division One to Division Two.
He has not played much first-class cricket in the last 18 months and bowling with 25 overs in an Ashes day is not the same bowl-overs four in the IPL.
It is exciting to look at the Ashes, it is so exciting, it is so exciting. exciting for the future of English cricket.
His presence adds depth to our bowling group. There is no doubt that you need a battery of fast bowlers for an Ashes series with such a crazy schedule of five tests in six weeks.
So Archer will need some care and we have the best people in the world to do that – mentally and physically.
Jofra Archer's rise on the international stage is beautiful.
Jofra Archer & # 39; s rise on the international stage is great for English cricket for English cricket "
Jofra Archer & # 39; s emergence on the international stage is great for English cricket
For him to get a lot of white-ball cricket, all high intensity and high pressure, his workload in an array of axes means that he is unlikely to get through will go on until five full matches are fit.
In fact, one of the advantages that England has in building up is we can balance our cricket, while the two most important bowlers from Australia, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, from coming to the World Cup, which will be exhausting, we must be fresher.
The whole reason why the ECB insisted on changing the schedule that until a decade ago English teams from an Ashes series had Down Under to a World Cup was that the players were shattered.
That physical challenge has now been passed on to Australia and one of the reasons why I classify England as massive Favorites for this World Cup is that our players get five days between matches, to drive home, play with family for a few days, play golf, sleep in their own bed.
It reduces the hotel time from seven nights a week to two or three. I have played three World Cups abroad and even when you have three days off, you are still stuck in a hotel room. It is not the same.
Spiritual freshness will drive England through this tournament and into the Ashes. That is our big advantage over the Aussies.
Those who have previously been in the IPL, such as Steve Smith and David Warner, will have missed their families for months.
I recently asked Ashley Giles, managing director of England, to be asked for this. What I thought of the new ball of the Dukes for 2019. My experience of them, I told him, was that they quickly become soft and out of shape and that when the fields diminish in speed, the cricket becomes boring.
response, I wondered if we had to change the ball that had helped so many exciting test cricket in England in the last four years.
We beat India 4-1 last year, but they beat us 3-2. It was one of the most exciting cricket you could wish for.
And let's not think that the 2018 ball has completely disappeared. Moeen Ali took 25 wickets in a series against South Africa. Last year I entered the Rose Bowl and took five against India. Spin has played a greater role.
What do we have to change? The last thing we need in an Ashes series are games when 500 plays 500.
Boo or not to boo … that's not my question
As David Warner and Steve Smith is booed, it is because it is a sporting rivalry it will be because it is a sporting rivalry "
If David Warner and Steve Smith are booed it will be because it is a sporting rivalry
This week, Steve Smith and David Warner see themselves for the first time in England for the first time since they have returned from their bans imposed by Cricket Australia.
Justin Langer, the coach from Australia , recently asked people not to boost, but the only thing that actually does is give more fuel to those tempted to do so.
There is no doubt that everyone in the cricket world greets these two players for the talent they possess on a cricket ground and if they are punished, it is not because everyone hates them or that they are bad people.
They will be booed because it is a sporting rivalry, because people will have a bit of fun during the competition and will enjoy their time with their friends. I can't influence what the crowd will do. If I go to the border and cheer and clap, I can get a response. But I can't control that.
That's the attitude I assumed when I went to Australia, so I won't get up and say & # 39; do not boo & # 39; the other English players from past and present.
Who is the person to tell the crowd what should and should not? They can do what they want within reasonable limits.
The only thing I want to mention is a great atmosphere in a beautiful sports environment, and I suspect that will be given.

Fears grow as Jason Roy looks set to be ruled out of England’s next two World Cup games
Jason Roy will be excluded from matches against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka
Eoin Morgan & # 39; s back injury is also a concern for the future of the game vs Afghanistan
[New York voor de Daily Mail] ] Published: 10:30 BST, June 16, 2019 |
Jason Roy seems to be at least excluded from the following two World Cup of England
Op Sunday evening, the medical staff of England still evaluated the results of scans on Roy Hamstring and Eoin Morgan's back after both were forced to leave the field during the emphatic victory over West
No risks are taken with two batsmen that are an integral part of England's chances of finally winning their first 50-over worldwide tournaments, especially their next two games are against the two weakest teams of the tournament in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Roy remains the greater concern and it seems unthinkable the opener, who in such a destructive World Cup shape, will play for next week's group match against Australia that could confirm to the top-four place.
The Surrey man needed seven weeks to recover from the initial hamstring and back problems he had sustained towards the end of England. Caribbean tour and management would rather wait and be fully fit for the business end of the tournament next month.
It is highly unlikely that England will now condemn Roy from the tournament because Alex Hales is out of the picture.

England is unlikely to run Roy out of the tournament because there aren't many alternatives
For now, James Vince gets the chance to open with Jonny Bairstow against Afghanistan in Old Trafford on Tuesday and Sri Lanka in Headingley on Friday, while the medical staff work overtime to get Roy fit and back in action.
Captain Morgan is less than a concern, but England is concerned worries about his last spasm to see how he resigns before deciding whether he can play on Tuesday.
The k ans is great that he will deliver the captain Jos Buttler on Monday
If Ali, who has been in bad batting, would come in for Morgan and give England an extra spin option.

Woakes is adamant that he is capable of defying Afghanistan, although England swore before the cup to protect his long-standing knee problem and not to risk him in two.
