The salty air of the ocean kisses your lips and tangles your hair into knots, the midnight atmosphere of the beach feeling odd to how you know the beach. No more the bright sun, golden sand, loud laughter and dazzling turquoise; now, the moon glows softly, the sand shines silver, there is only quiet and the waves ripple a dark purple that hypnotizes you.

Still, all of this beauty only entrances you for a while. Because Lee Minho is sitting beside you, looking absolutely ethereal under the moonlight, and you’re struck speechless for several moments.

“You’re beautiful,” You say quietly, and Minho turns to look at you, and you can’t help but think gorgeous, gorgeous, I love you -

“I know,” Minho says, laughing, his laughter carried out into the ocean, “But coming from you, baby? Coming from the most beautiful person in the world? It’s an honour.” Your hands, once next to each other, are now laced together tightly, the grains of sand rough between your palms, and you once again gaze out to sea, casting as far as your eye would let you.

Minho brings up your hand and kisses the back of your hand gently, eyelashes fluttering against his cheekbones, and your heart thuds.

“I keep falling in love with you,” You whisper, squeezing Minho’s hand, “Everyday. Every minute. Whenever you do cheesy things or dumb things. I keep finding things I love about you.” Staring into Minho’s eyes is like staring into the radiance of a thousand stars, yet you can’t look away, entirely captivated by him.

“And I,” Minho starts, “I love you so much I want to burst from it. I really, really do.”

The beach is so much prettier at night, you realise, leaning into Minho. A quiet kind of beautiful that makes you dizzy. You fall asleep to the steady swash of the waves and the thud of Minho’s heartbeat.
