Listen, I'm so excited for Veilguard and also kind of nervous about the fact the Inquisitor makes an appearance...but then I remember that I wrote an AU that I ended up liking better than canon anyway so Bioware can't hurt me.
I already brainwashed myself.

2020 Elections
The California senator has a ways to go to win over African American voters. This is the story of how she converted one prominent voice.
Luther âLukeâ Campbell, the former 2 Live Crew frontman and âoriginal bad boy of hip-hop,â absolutely torched Kamala Harris a few weeks after she announced her bid for president.
Writing in the Miami New Times, Campbell argued many blue-collar African Americans, especially men, had made up their minds not to vote for the onetime prosecutor. He lumped her in with politicians who have denied defendants rehabilitation and targeted innocent people.
Story Continued Below
And in a riff that critics slammed as sexist, Campbell questioned Harrisâ marriage to a white man. He even suggested she used a romantic relationship with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown to advance her career.
âLike everyone else, black voters want help from one of their own,â Campbell wrote, slipping in that Harrisâ mother was from India. âThe Bushes made sure their people got oil money. Bill Clinton let the telecommunications industry gobble up small radio and TV stations. And Donald Trump is looking out for his developer buddies through a tax cut and opportunity zones that gentrify minority neighborhoods. Meanwhile, Harris has let black people know they canât count on her.â
So it was more than a little curious when Campbell announced very publicly heâd changed his mind. In an Instagram video last week, he said he and Harris had recently talked on the phone about her record and presidential priorities, from gun control to the rehabilitation programs she started. Campbell said he wanted to determine whether sheâs a âreal sister.â
âI went back and looked deeper at the record,â Campbell said in an interview with POLITICO.
But the story of Campbellâs about-face isnât so simple: Itâs a window into how Harris is working to allay skepticism of her among African Americans â particularly black men wary of her background in law enforcement â and of how far she has to go to make inroads with a critical constituency that Joe Biden so far is dominating in the polls.
Harris and her surrogates routinely reach out to black influencers like Campbell, in most cases before they might publicly air any concerns. The campaign at times dispatches its chairman, the candidateâs sister, Maya Harris, whose background in criminal justice reform and close relationship with the senator help provide insight only she could.
That Campbell could make the unexpected turn gives hope to an underlying theory Harris advisers have: that her courtroom experience will prove more of an asset than an anchor. But people on the outside involved in the discussions with Campbell stress that his hesitation underscores the work Harris must do to introduce herself while fleshing out her motives as Californiaâs attorney general and the district attorney of San Francisco.
âShe obviously has bona fides in certain parts of the black community: Sheâs an HBCU graduate, an AKA. She is a black woman in every sense of the word,â said Tiffany Cross, founder and managing editor of the Beat DC, a newsletter on the intersection of politics, policy and people of color, referring to Harrisâ time at Howard University and in the oldest African American sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
âBut the black community is not a monolith,â Cross added. âIn certain parts of the black community, HBCUs and AKAs just donât resonate. And, when people only hear whispers that you were the prosecutor who locked up black men, thatâs something thatâs an uphill climb. The campaign is trying to combat it, and trying to address it, but they have a long way to go.â
To Harris, Campbell represents a hard-to-reach demographic sheâll need to convince. Campbell, whose raw lyrics and videos with scantily clad women put him at the center of free speech fights decades ago, calls it the âsilent majorityâ that powered Barack Obama.
Campbellâs evolution on Harris unfolded over many months. It started with calls from a surrogate and ended with Harris herself. In between, the rapper said he heard from a Florida congresswoman who endorsed Harris. He got beat up in testy interviews and at home: His wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law are AKAs. He said they all really like Harris.
***
Campbellâs New Times column landed online like a thunderclap. Symone Sanders, then a free-agent Democratic strategist who later took a job with Biden, essentially told Campbell to shut up.
âUncle Luke is no political mastermind or strategist,â Sanders tweeted at the time. âWhy do black men keep popping up with their unsolicited opinions about Kamala Harris?â
But Cross, who brought up Campbellâs piece on Joy Reidâs MSNBC show, gave it more credence. In an interview, she said critics need to consider that Campbell is viewing Harris through the lens of black men who are disproportionately affected by the justice system.
Behind the scenes, Harris surrogates were treating the put-downs seriously. Bakari Sellers, a former state lawmaker from South Carolina, immediately reached out to Campbell. Democratic activists have said Campbell is a respected and even feared voice in Florida politics and has an extensive following among middle-aged African American men nationally.
âHeâs someone that you want on your side,â Sellers said when asked why he took it upon himself. âLuke can have the conversations that you canât have.â
Days after connecting with Campbell, Sellers appeared as a guest on the musicianâs podcast. Campbell still seemed indifferent toward Harris, even after Sellers touted her advocacy for women and children who suffered from abuse.
Then, last month, thousands of African American journalists arrived in Miami for the National Association of Black Journalists conference. Campbell sat for an interview with Cross. She brought up his column about Harris, noting a lot of people considered it sexist.
âHe was like, âOh, God. Here we go,ââ Cross recalled.
In his piece, Campbell had taken issue with Harrisâ marriage to Doug Emhoff, describing him as âa rich white lawyer.â He also called her a âmistressâ of Brown, âa powerful black man.â
Cross wanted to know when he became the moral authority on relationships.
âI mean, should we revisit âAs Nasty As They Wanna Be,â and all the albums and things you put out about women?â Cross asked. She said it was fair game to probe Harrisâ record, but the personal shots went too far.
When it was over, she texted a contact at the Harris campaign. Cross felt like Campbell was open to persuasion.
âIt wasnât combative, but he didnât have a counterpoint to a lot of the things I raised with him,â she said.
Campbell did another long interview at the Miami event, this one with The Atlanticâs Jemele Hill, who previously had Harris on her show. Late in the podcast, the senator came up again. Hill argued Harris had created one of the most progressive prisonerreentry programs in the country. Hill also told Campbell he should pay attention to Biden for not apologizing for his tough-on-crime record.
Campbellâs aversion to Harris was melting.
âOut of all the candidates, I really like her the most,â he eventually told Hill. But Harris needs to overcome the perception of being a powerful black woman who went after black men to prove herself, he said. On the show, Campbell mimicked black politicians who avoid advocating a black agenda.
âI get so sick of that shit. âOh, Iâm for everybody,ââ he said. âNo, you black. You need to be for us.â
Hill wrapped with a promise to her listeners: âKamala fans,â she said, âI got him. As soon as we stop taping this podcast, I got Luke. Iâma bring him over. Donât worry about him.â
By the time Harris reached out to Campbell, on Aug. 15, the previous conversations had left such an impression that heâd come around to her.
Campbell told POLITICO Harris talked about her reentry initiative to lower recidivism among low-level drug offenders. She said she wants to change how credit scores are calculated to boost black homeownership. He told her he supports allowing law-abiding people to keep guns for protection. Harris volunteered that she has a .45-caliber gun herself â for protection, Campbell said.
The fact that Harris came to him even after his personal attacks made a big impression.
âThat got me more than anything. That I could write all those tough words ⌠that I could say what I did on those interviews, and sheâs woman enough to say, âLetâs have a conversation,ââ he said. âMost men, they take it personal, take their little toy and they go sit down.â
Before deciding on the endorsement, Campbell said he kept reflecting on the first Democratic debates, thinking who could really take on Trump. Biden, he said, is too old. Bernie Sanders âis just going to go up there and start screaming.â He believes Elizabeth Warren reacted âin a little fragile wayâ by releasing a DNA test to prove claims to Native American ancestry. Her support for reparations for descendants of slaves didnât help, either. âWe as African Americans know thatâs not going to happen,â he said.
And Campbell said he doesnât think Cory Bookerâs message is resonating: âHe gives us a black history lesson every time he talks.â
So, itâs Harris.
âIâm a man,â Campbell said. âI can say I made a mistake.â

***These products were given to us to test by Jolse.com, but all reviews hold our honest experience and opinions about each product. If you are to try these products remember that YMMV.
Back in December Jolse held a contest to recruit 30 reviewers to be sent a special kit including varying Wish Formula products to test and review. The package itself contained The Bat Eye Mask, Iâm Pro Ampoule Pad-C, C200 Bubble Peeling Pad and an assortment of samples. Now that a month has gone by, and weâve split the products between the two of us, weâre finally able to give our final thoughts on each product.
The Bat Eye Mask with Centella Honey Fermented Essence:
 Claims:

The one thing I found odd, is that for a product that âhoneyâand âcentellaâ in the name, the ingredients themselves are pretty low on the list. That being said, there donât seem to be any irritants, and the ingredients themselves mainly target moisturizing or are an anti-inflammatory to help with âpuffyâ eyes.
How to Use:
Directions from Wish Formula:
Sweep the face with toner after cleansing.
Position the sheet mask onto the nose and eye area followed by adjusting eye and nose parts to fit.
Relax for 20-30 mins and discard the sheet mask.
Gently dab the essence residue on the face.
How I used it:
After cleansing, toning, actives, etc I apply the bat eye mask to the âbat eye zoneâ.
After 30 minutes removed from skin.
Tapped essence to absorb into my skin.
Final Thoughts:
This isnât the first time Iâve used these masks, if you check our instagram Iâve raved about them before. Being young, I donât have too many lines around my eyes just yet, but sometimes my under eyes get a bit dull from lack of sleep or if Iâm battling a sickness (like I was in the picture above). I think itâs times like this that giving your under eyes an extra dose of moisture never hurts. I donât believe the results are extreme, I donât have puffy eyes, and the brightening isnât significant but everything looks a bit lighter and plump the next day. I also thing itâs a nice mask to have right before doing eye make up. Adding that kick of moisture before applying make up will keep products from creasing into lines and product always clings better for long-wear use.

This pad is supposed to contain 10% Vitamin C, so for those sensitive to actives or those trying them for the very first time, make sure to only use these pads sparingly. Also worth noting is the inclusion of Arachis Hypogaea Oil aka Peanut Oil. For those with peanut allergies beware and those who are acne prone since this is a potential acne trigger.
How to use:
How Wish Formula says to use it:
Balance out the skin by using toner after cleansing.
Place the ampoule pad band between the fingers and apply all over the face.
Tap the ampoule pad onto the skin to absorb better.
1 min later, massage the remaining ampoule into the skin.
How I used it:
Double cleanse and tone skin with ph-adjusting toner.
Before using BHA or AHA use this pad as a Vitamin C serum.
After applying pad all over face and patting in, wait 20 minutes before moving on with any other actives and the rest of your routine.
Final Thoughts:
I donât currently use a vitamin c serum, so I liked the idea of this pad. At first it seemed like a good way to ease my way into using one in my routine, but I ended up being pretty disappointed in this. The pad itself was soft and non-irritating to use and it was fully soaked in serum with some still left in the pouch. This ended up actually being too much serum for one use, but I suppose you could use the rest on your neck and chest. Once applied, this took quite awhile to sink in and it dried very sticky. I did notice my skin was slightly brighter the next morning, but I think this caused me to break out. I probably wouldnât purchase this in the future, as I think this pad is a bit pricey for something that is one time use. If I were to ever want to see long term results, I would have to buy a box of these and a bottle of vitamin c serum is more worth the price.

C200 Bubble Peeling Pad:
Claims:
Remove dead skin cells and dirt as well as excessive sebum
Treats acne scars and blemishes
Whitens dull skin
leaves glowing skin
Helps prevents aging
moisturizes and firms skin
Keeps skin healthy from bacteria
There are a lot of claims up there⌠It comes from the fact that the first side of the pad has AHA, a chemical exfoliator that helps shed skin and remove dirt and impurities from clogged pores. The second side of the pad is a soft foaming pad with vitamin C. Vitamin C is filled with anti-oxidants that help prevent aging, while also brightening skintone, and firming the skin.
Ingredients:
Water, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Cocamide DEA, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactobacillus/ Clover Flower Ferment Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Polyglutamic Acid, Apium Graveolens Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata Leaf Extract, Oryza Sativa Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum Fruit Extract, Brassica Rapa Leaf Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa Root Extract, Broccoli Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, DMDM Hydantoin
Read the CosDNA report here.
There are two ingredients on this list that had a rating of 7 out of 9 in the âsafetyâ column of the CosDNA report, I put them in bold. Cocamide DEA has been labeled as âpossibly carcinogenic to humansâ as well as being on Calforniaâs Proposition 65 list as a chemical that is known to cause cancer. DMDM Hydantoin got itâs high score from the formaldehyde it releases that is used to work as a preservative.
How To Use:
Directions from Jolse:
Create rich bubble with the pad by squeezing it, proceed to next step with clean, damp face.
Rub entire face with fiber side around 2-3 minutes except the eye and lip areas.
After exfoliation, flip over the band part. Use the soft side of the pad to pat Vitamin contents into the skin and rinse off.
How I used it:
After cleansing steps, squeeze pad to form bubbles. Using the fiber (rough) side of the pad I gently exfoliated for 2-3 minutes avoid sensitive area such as eyes and lips.
Flipping the pad over to the soft side, I pat entire face before rinsing.
Final Thoughts:
While using the product, I was worried about over-exfoliation. 2-3 minutes sounds like a long time to be rubbing at your face with a rough cushion, but I did as the directions asked and pressed forward. During the process, I did feel that some part of my face got a bit agitated, like spots with acne or white heads. Right after finishing the final step, my skin was SO SOFT. I mean I was a feather, I was a cloud, I was SO SO SOFT. The feeling of soft, tight, and clean skin almost made me forget my worries about this product as I went off to sleep. The next day, however, I did feel the signs of exfoliation, nothing too grand than feeling a bit sensitive but it was enough for me to feel like this product was too harsh for me. Not only that, but the knowledge that some dangerous chemicals hide within the ingredients list makes me a little worried. I loved have a soft face, but I know there are other products out there that will do the same thing. Also, a pack of four is $24.98 on Jolse which is a lot considering you can only use each pad once.

Samples (First Impressions):
Purifying Toner:
The toner itself is clear, thicker than water but not as thick as an essence or gel. It felt somewhat âtighteningâ but not drying and I noticed my makeup didnât become too greasy or slick during the day while wearing it. That being said I didnât notice anything extraordinary about it.
Reparative K Cream:
This was definitely a heavier cream, which makes sense because itâs supposed to help repair your moisture barrier. I have oily skin, so I used this one as a night cream. I woke up the next morning with my skin looking smooth and still hydrated. I do think it is a little heavy for me though, so I would recommend this one for drier skin types.
Fermented AC-X Spot:
As the packaging implies, this is meant problem areas on the skin. Though I have combination skin, I didnât find the cream to be too oily and it absorbed nicely. I did see a bit of redness go down the next morning, but the one thing I have to note is that this cream smells AWFUL. Under the slightly sweet smell of the cream is a scent that reminds me of manure, and it doesnât go away after the cream is absorbed into the skin.
Fermented Calming Serum:
I used this in replacement of my regular calming serum (I currently use the Dr. G Red Blemish Soothing Ampoule) and I felt it worked okay. I do prefer my current ampoule as I feel it helps more with inflammation, but this one did calm some of my redness.
Fermented Oil-Free Moisturizing Lotion:
This one was a nice daytime moisturizer, as it was lightweight and absorbed easily. I also felt this kept my face hydrated all day and wouldnât mind trying this one again.
Pore Tightening Serum:
This serum is clear, very thin, and kind of smells like alcohol. Upon application it gives a slight blurring effect and seems to reduce the look of pores a little bit. It didnât do anything significant in terms of oil control, but I can see this being a nice alternative to primer.
Hydra Base pH 5.5 Toner:
I used this toner as a pH balancing toner before my actives. Itâs consistency was a little thicker than water and it was clear. I actually liked this sample as it left my face feeling clean, hydrated, and ready for the rest of my routine.
Ceramide Lotion:
I used this one during my morning and night routine. As someone with oily skin I felt this was hydrating enough for both routines. It definitely had a lotion consistency and wasnât too heavy for under makeup. This layered nicely over other products and left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
Aloe Gel:
Looks like every other aloe gel out there, but has a slightly thicker consistency then say the Nature Republic aloe vera gel.
Fermented Oil-Free Dr Mild Sun Block:
This sunscreen had a thicker consistency and had that classic sun block smell. It was easy to massage into my skin, but it did leave me with a slight white cast. The finish was smooth and non-sticky, but overall this didnât seem like anything special.
