If there’s anything that gmod roleplay YouTubers got right from a narrative perspective it’s the concept of a rational protagonist being placed into an inherently irrational environment and surrounded by inherent irrational people. Even better are the concepts of the rational protagonist eventually becoming less and less relatable to the rational audience as they change and morph due to the influence of their environment and surrounding characters. It’s not a loss of humanity or morality. It’s a loss of the physical and tangible logic within themselves and the way in which they interact with the world around them.

#for the taleblr kids. for the hlvrai kids. there’s something here that has not been explored in other genres #something similar is also in wilford motherloving warfstash I think but MAYBE my personal bias is coming out there #if you know of any piece of media that has this theme PLEASEEEE give it to me I WANT it #I have a million things to say about this underutilized these and how it can be used to portray trauma #replacing a harsh world creating a harsh person (bad example. not always the case) with a fantastical environment #a goofy crazy incomprehensible world that makes a relatively average Joe into something that can no longer fit in outside of its confines #THATS THE SHIT. OK. that’s the shit I want to see and write and talk about #that’s metaphores baby. that’s art
