Yuna - fluff - 844 words
Other versions: Yeji - Lia - Ryujin - Chaer - Yuna
Yuna: would be the least surprised. Her eyes would definitely widen at first, but she'd quickly smile it off, wrapping her hand around you.
Finally i'm done with these !!! Idk what took me so long, i was dreading to moment i had to write them, but they were so easy ?? Anyways i'll concentrate on blue lock now~
You guys had planned this night since over a week. Everyone wanted to gather up for a good old movie night. The 6 of you each got to pick a movie, hoping that you’d manage to stay awake for them all. That’s why you got prepared: had a good night's sleep the day before, lots of sugary drinks and sour gummies. But you knew that pulling an all-nighter was going to be hard. So obviously the first movie would be the one you'd all pay attention to the most, and the sixth one… Might be the one you'd all sleep through. That's how Yeji got the best idea ever, as a leader does, even off-duty. You would play rock paper scissors, the winner playing their movie first, and the loser last. Lia whined: “I never have luck when it comes to these!”
“Actually that’s a great idea, unnie”, competitive Chaeryeong answered. My film is so good, I'd be sad if you guys missed it. “I chose LaLaLand, it’s a romantic classic, so you guys must know it if you want to know me”. Everyone gathered up in a circle, pausing the activities they had started. “Okay let’s do this, Yeji called. The odd one out is the winner. One, Two, Three !”
Everyone stuck their hand out, choosing one of the three signs. And the first winner was… Chaeryeong. RyuJin side-eyed her: “Tch, it should’ve been me. Flipped is a complicated movie, so we should all be concentrated. I guess it’s okay if it’s the second one in line”. “It’s okay unnie, you’ll get it”, Chaer sarcastically answered, matching with her competitive aura too. “Next round then !” Yeji brought order again. “1, 2, 3 !”
Ryujin won. She said she would after all. As she celebrated in her dongsaeng’s arms, the rest of you laughed, while Lia continued whinging, knowing where this would lead to. One, two, three !
But this time, both Yuna and Lia had the rock, while you and Yeji had paper and scissors. “Well I guess here goes a mini-rematch !” Yuna happily said. “I can't believe this'', perplexedly replied Lia. “1, 2, 3 !” Ryujin set the tempo for them. Lia shouted. “OMO, this is HAPPENING !” She won. Barbie the princess and the pauper would then play third. Yuna sighed and you guys continued on the game. Yeji would play her film, twilight, the fourth, then Yuna second to last with miracle in cell no. 7, and you would close the night.
“You know what you guys think, it’s okay actually, if we don't pay that much attention to me. I was planning on playing "How to train A Dragon.” As you said that, you slowly turned to Yeji, and everyone burst out laughing. She had a pouty look on thought.
๑
Everyone went back to their activities, a smile on their lips because the game was fun. Chaeryeong prepared the covers and pillows, while Ryujin was on tech duty, connecting the computer to the projector and opening illegal streaming sites for each movie. 6 pretty tabs, waiting for you, announcing the color of the night that was about to come - white, or black, it’s the same anyways. Yeji and Lia were preparing the snacks in the kitchen, opening up chips and putting them into bowls, and glazing strawberries with chocolate. In the meanwhile, you went upstairs to the room, to take everyone’s plushies and bring them back to the living room, now transformed into a home-cinema. Since everyone was handling everything, Yuna was kind of… jobless. So the only thing she thought of doing was turning the LEDs on, for a deepened ambiance. She took out her phone and connected it via bluetooth to the lights. She was just sitting on the couch, trying out different modes.
You barged into the room, throwing the 6 plushies on the blanket-lined floor. Now you were the jobless one, your easy task already being completed. You saw that Yuna wasn't doing anything important either, and decided to go with her while waiting for the girls. As you walked over the soft floor, you made your way to the couch. Chaeryeong was finished setting the cushions, and decided to turn off the lights, to see what it would look like. Since the LEDs were on, you still saw everything. And out of all the empty spots in the living room, you decided to sit on Yuna’s lap. Chaer and Ryu didn't even pay attention to it, since it was so likely for you to do something like that. On the other hand though, Yuna got flustered. She let out a small “ooh”, but as you placed your hands behind her neck, hugging her, she softened.
Her face was overtaken by a smile, and she crossed an arm on your waist, the other being busy using her phone. She rested her chin on your shoulder and chuckled, hoping you’d spend the night like this.

CHAPTER VIII
"You look sad, Miss."
I didn't know I was staring into the distance for a few minutes. Three of my students were watching me with worry on their faces.
"Oh, sorry. I was thinking about something."
It has been a few weeks since Katsuki and I last talked. According to him, he had to go on a mission after that fateful day. The hours turned to days, and then they turned to weeks.
The annoying presence I had in my life disappeared completely.
It was as though he never even existed. My kitchen was unused, and the empty spot on my couch remained...sad and bare. I missed his big figure squeezing himself into my smaller-than-average couch, and I missed seeing his shadow as he worked in my kitchen, bringing me warm hearty meals that he learned from when he was young. I missed his arrogant voice rambling on about how my diet was crap-
I missed him.
I missed Katsuki.
But I ruined us by telling him about my feelings. He looked almost sad that I even told him I liked him.
He probably saw me as a good friend, a confidante, and someone he would never see romantically.
I probably disgusted him.
"Whatever it is Miss, you'll be fine." One of my students smiled at me. I didn't want to, but I started tearing up. "You're great."
Another laid a hand on my shoulder, "Yeah! You help us with our problems, so whatever you're facing right now, you'll conquer it."
Maybe.
Maybe.
But how?
After school, I thought about bringing homework, but I have finished most of them already. In the weeks that went by, I drowned my free time with as much work as possible that today, I didn't have anything to do.
I didn't realize that being with Katsuki was fleeting. That he will disappear from my life and that the beach was the last moment I had with him - I should've cherished it. I shouldn't have told him how I felt. I should've kept it. I should-
ring, ring
I was so distracted by my thoughts that I didn't realize I was the only one left in the faculty room. The soft orange light from the sunset and the loud ringing of my phone were the only ones keeping me company.
What does Red Riot need from me?
"Hello?"
"Hey, teach!" Eijiro Kirishima's warm voice came from the other line. He was the kind of person who you could hear his smile just by listening to his voice. Red Riot was famous because of this. He was the Pro Hero who would flash the friendliest smile your way that not even his sharp teeth could threaten. "Sorry! I didn't think of texting you. Were you doing anything when I called?"
His voice comforted me as though it brought me closer to Katsuki.
"I wasn't doing anything. I'm just on my way home from school actually." I answered. "Why? What can I do for you?"
Kirishima chuckled, "Ah, good timing! I'm actually in the area. I remember Bakubro telling me during the party that you lived near his place. Do you wanna grab dinner with me? I got questions for you if you don't mind."
"Is he going to be-"
"Ah, no. I haven't seen him in the past few weeks, so I wanted to ask you. Since, you know, you're the only one I can ask."
There was something about his statement that broke my heart. "Not anymore."
Eijiro insisted that we meet. I gave him the school address, and he drove to pick me up to talk over dinner. He chose a small American-style diner that I only see in Western movies. A few people were laughing over milkshakes, neon lights on the walls burned my eyes, and the smell of burgers made me feel warm inside.
He gestured for me to sit with him in a booth by the far end of the diner, and I did. "Let's order first. Don't worry, teach, my treat. Get whatever you like." He took the menu from the waitress that came over, "Hey Yuna, great to see you! Exams went well?"
I watched Red Riot chat with the pink-haired waitress. I knew he wasn't putting up that friendly act, and he was a genuinely nice guy.
"I'll have-" Eijiro snapped out from their conversation and turned to the menu, "Two burgers. Onion rings. Chicken wings, both will have barbecue sauce for the dip, you know the drill! And then, a big glass of cola."
Was he ordering for me too?
"What would you get, teach?"
Okay, no. That was all for him.
"Just a burger for me. And a glass of cola too. Thanks." I dropped my bag on the space next to me and made myself comfortable.
Eijiro grinned wide at me when Yuna the waitress left. "Okay, so I hope you don't mind." Then his smile melted into this concerned look, "I actually just want to ask you about how Kacchan is doing."
"I still have the same answer for you, Eijiro. I'm not the person to ask anymore." My heart stung. "I used to be. I think. But not now, not after-"
Eijiro's eyebrows met when I paused, "Not after what, teach?"
"Not after I confessed to him." There was no use even hiding it. Eijiro will know about it sooner or later. "He even said it wasn't what he wanted."
Eijiro leaned back on his seat, spread his arms over the back of the booth, looking like a large red eagle. "Damn, must've hurt."
"Tell me about it." I grumbled.
"But I'm honestly really confused why he said that. When I saw you with him during that party, I could feel he had feelings for you." He then tried remembering whatever it was that he saw. "For starters, he let you call him by his name."
"You call him Kacchan." I retorted.
He laughed at that, "Well, it irritates him to this day. We only called him that because Izuku calls him that back in school. It was fun to hear him explode over it." Then Eijiro's face turned softer as he went back to the matter at hand, "But you, man, he let you call him Katsuki."
"I can see the way he looks at you too. He never looks at anyone that way." Then he moved his hand over his eyebrows, "He usually has his eyebrows permanently melted together on his face, grumpy Dynamight all the time. And that frown! He growls! If looks could kill, we would all be dead now!"
I could feel that Eijiro was telling the truth, not just to make me feel better. I would be lying if I don't say that I could feel how kind he was, how differently he treated me, and how absolutely special he made me feel.
"I just wonder why he said that to you then disappeared." He gave a soft sigh, "Kacchan is super complicated and even though I try really hard to understand him, most of the times, I fail. Not that I'm a bad friend or anything but he just doesn't really want to share things with us."
Eijiro looked at me, "What about you teach, you know Kacchan pretty well, why do you think he said that?"
"I- I don't know." Honestly, I don't. I just don't want to overthink, I don't want to assume.
I just want... Katsuki back.
"You know what I think though?" He said as our orders got served, "He doesn't feel like he deserves you."
And a part of me believes he was right.
I found myself crossing the shiny floor of Dynamight's nearly empty office. After eating, I thought Red Riot will drive me home, he didn't.
Instead he drove towards the building where Dynamight's hero agency was located. The entire office was no nonsense, it was lined with tables which looked immaculate, nothing was in sight as though everything was new and never used.
I knew they have been though, I saw an intern put all files in her drawer, leaving her table empty and clean.
I could sense it was office policy to make sure no paper or document was left out for prying eyes to see.
"Eijiro, are you sure about this?" I whispered, feeling out of place in the office.
Red Riot simply laughed, carrying take-outs in one hand and pulling my wrist with the other.
Damn, he was strong.
"What are you doing?" I asked for what seemed like the tenth time. Red Riot had a big smile on his face and just kept going. We reached a big door, big enough to accomodate Eijiro's entire form without him ever needing to crouch down. He knocked and with it, I could feel my heart hammering on my chest, as immediate and as fast as Red Riot's loud knocking.
"Eijiro, for the love of all that is good and annoying, can you-"
There he was.
The elusive friend I once knew.
Katsuki's eyes were on me the moment he pulled the door open. He was dressed in his hero costume, minus the gauntlets, and looked surprised that I was even there.
"I told you I'd get you something."
"I didn't fucking tell you to bring her here." Katsuki frowned deeply.
"You did tell me to get out of your office and just get you something healthy." Red Riot finally let my wrist go, he looked so damn proud of himself, "And you know me, I think a healthy communication is the manliest thing ever!"
Oh wow.
"You are annoying as fuck, Eijiro." But Katsuki's eyes were kind, a bit tired, but still kind on me. He looked at me as if he was glad I was there.
Eijiro offered Katsuki his dinner, the largest hamburger he could get in the diner that I know was not Katsuki's definition of healthy, and gave us a happy look before strolling away ever so casually.
"Wait, take her the hell home!"
"No can do, Kacchan! I'm meeting Sero! Take her home for me, will ya?"
Katsuki laid his eyes on me. At first he was unmoving, holding the take out bag with one hand and his fist clenched with the other. Then he uncurled his fist and turned to walk back to his office.
"Eat with me."
"I already ate."
"Sit with me."
And I did. Of course I did. I missed him.
He sat on the sofa, unwilling to even drop crumbs on his desk. Katsuki patted the space beside him on the brown letter sofa and took out the food from the take out bag.
"Damn shitty hair got me cola." He grumbled as he sniffed the cup, "He's so damn unhealthy." Then he turned his eyes to me, "Please tell me you drank water when you were with him."
"I..." I looked back at our dinner and I can't remember if I did. Eijiro asked for refills for our drinks but I don't remember him asking for water. "No."
"When was the last time you had water?" Katsuki raised an eyebrow, a proud gesture I missed so much. He was unsatisfied with my lack of answer so he stood up, filled two glasses of water from his personal water dispenser and brough it over. He handed me one, "Drink. You and Eijiro shouldn't even eat together, your diets are the worst."
I took the glass and drank up. As though something activated in my brain, my tears started to fill my eyes and I started sobbing with my drink in my hand. The blond ProHero looked surprised when he heard me sob, and he was about to reach out when he pulled himself back.
"Do you know why I said what I said?"
No.
You don't have to tell me.
I don't want to get rejected over again.
Let's just be friends.
I don't want to lose you again.
"Y/N, I'm not good for you." He left his burger unwrapped and untouched. "Of all things I have in my life, you're the only one I never felt like I deserved." He angled his body so he can look at me, "I didn't plan all of these. I didn't plan getting this close to you. I didn't mean for you to feel something towards me."
"Then why the hell did you have to be so close?" I couldn't hold back my anger, my frustration, my irritation. If he felt like that, then why didn't he just stay away? "Why did you have to wedge yourself in my life and then when it doesn't suit you anymore, go your way as if nothing happened, and leave a damn big space that I can't even fill?"
"Because I fucking wanted you in my life too. I was selfish. I wanted you close." He was trying to look away, his eyes getting uncomfortably watery, "I didn't deserve you but for some damn reason, I wanted to feel as if I do."
"You were so kind to me. You gave me an opportunity to be a new person, as if the old Katsuki never existed, and it felt so good to be this great Katsuki in front of you." The ProHero Dynamight was crying. He was crying and I could feel my anger melting away.
Was that what he felt?
"But I can't escape my past forever. Every single time I leave your apartment, every time I come back to reality, I return to the world who knew the angry Katsuki Bakugo and I go back to feeling like I don't deserve you."
"I don't deserve you, Y/N. With all the wrongs in my past, I don't deserve you. I don't deserve this happiness."
I piped up, "Don't I deserve this happiness?"

𝐵𝒶𝒸𝓀 𝐹𝓇𝑜𝓂 𝒟𝑒𝒶𝓉𝒽 - 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝒱𝐼𝐼
I wake with a throbbing headache. How much did I drink? My lord, I can't move my head. I slowly lift with my hands and sit up.
"Ugh," I groan, "did brother really put me to bed so neat and clean?"
I walk to the bathroom and do my business trying to remember. Who was that in the club who was trying to hold me?
After a few minutes, I enter my brother's room. He was also up and sitting on his bed rubbing his eyes.
"Brother," I ask, "what happened yesterday?"
"Oh," he replies, "you passed out in the club."
"That's it?" I ask.
"Yeah," Yoongi says, "oh and some creep in the club was saying he loved you."
"What?" my face falls, "what was his name?"
"I don't know," Yoongi shrugs, "he didn't know your name either."
"Oh," I continue in confusion, "then how can he love me."
"Maybe love at first sight because my baby sis is so beautiful," Yoongi laughs.
"Stoppppp!" I throw a pillow at him blushing.
I was going out when my phone rang. It was Namjoon.
"Heyyy Joon!" I answer the call.
"Yuna!" Namjoon answers back in excitement, "You picked up. Lord, I was calling you like crazy yesterday and you did not pick up."
"I'm sorry," I said, "Yoongi and I got drunk in a club and I passed out."
"What?" Namjoon asks, "You know how unsafe it is to just pass out in a club? What if someone hurt you?"
"I'm sorry," I repeat, "I'm sorry. But Yoongi was with me."
"Hyung was drunk too wasn't he?" Namjoon asks.
"Yes..." I reply, "but he got me back home safely!"
"Ok," Namjoon sighs, "can we meet up? I miss you."
"Sure. Where?" I ask.
"The usual cafe," Namjoon chuckles, "where else?"
"Okay, Joonie," I laugh, "when?"
"Now?" Namjoon says, "As soon as possible? Like at 11? It's already 10."
"Wow," I sigh, "I woke up so late."
"Yeah," Namjoon chuckles, "I'll go now. Get ready."
"Cya," I say and hang up.
I stretch my limb and call Yoongi who was downstairs to make breakfast, "Brother! Can you make breakfast?"
"No!" Yoongi screamed.
"Please," I screamed back while trying to get ready, "I have to go outside."
"Outside, where?" Yoongi yells.
"With Namjoon," I reply pulling my shirt down my hands.
"With Namjoon?" Yoongi screams back, "I'm coming with you! I don't trust anyone other than Jinnie."
"No," I scream again in stress as I try to pull my jeans on, "I'm going alone with him."
"No! I won't let you-" He screams but I cup his mouth stopping him, "Stop yelling, I'm here."
"And I'm going alone," I finish.
"But-" Yoongi starts.
"NO BUTS!" I interrupt him, "I'll be fine with Namjoon."
I go to the kitchen, grab cereal and milk and eat.
"Thanks for breakfast," I say sarcastically.
"You're always welcome," Yoongi smiles at me.

"Sir!" The crow screams, "Queen Yuna is going out!"
"Where?" Taehyung asks.
"I am not quite sure," the crow replies.
"Find out," he ordered, "follow her."
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○
"Joonie!" I jump in excitement and hug him.
He smiles with his adorable dimples and hugs me back.
"Yunnnna!" He lifts me up while hugging me since I was short.
"Aaaah" I scream when he spins me around.
I liked him a lot. He was in fact boyfriend material and very understanding. He was always there for me in my deepest darkest times even if I didn't want anyone's help. He suddenly brought his hands below my knees, lifted me up and made me sit on a chair.
"Woah!" I laugh.
"Anything for a princess," Namjoon smiles.
"Stooppp!" I say and cover my face.
Namjoon chuckles, "How was your holiday?"
"It was good!" I sit up, "I spent a lot of time with Jungkook too."
"That's good," his voice falls, "Do you not want to spend time with me?"
"No!" I scream in shock, "I mean yes! I want to."
Namjoon smiles, "Something has been on my mind lately."
"What is that?" I ask.
"Us," Namjoon says, "About us."
"Oh," I say concentrating.
"I want us to be more than friends now," Namjoon explains, "I know we agreed upon getting together once we're all settled. But I can't wait anymore. I want to love you and want to be loved by you. I want us to be happy and cuddly like how you always said you wanted your future boyfriend to be. I might not be the perfect boyfriend but please let me in and become perfect for you. I will love you with all of me and I will love everything of yours, your pretty and ugly."
I was on the verge of tears by the time Namjoon had finished. I loved him as much as he loved me. There was no doubt in that. I was just scared it wouldn't work out. But no longer did I fear that.
"Yes!" I yelled and jumped to hug him not caring about others.
He gladly opens his arms and hugs me. He stands up with me in his arms.
"I really like you," Namjoon corrects himself, "Nah! I really love you."
"I love you too," I say and kiss his cheek and dimple, "I really love your dimples too."
Little did they know that...
A little someone was watching them.

heyy! i'm so glad honda grew on you, it's too underrated! my 2022 music thoughts are pretty much the same as the top five i sent before, except stressed by doechii (colors verison) became one of my favourite songs from the whole year ("I've got like thirteen years of age that I ain't still got off my chest" is always on my mind). also frankenstein is the first song of hold the girl that grew on me, i'll listen to the album in a few months and see if anything else sticks. here are some minor thoughts i haven't mentioned yet:
i didn't really like this year's lizzo or harry styles albums, and now that it's been a year since solar power came out i was hoping it would grow on me but it's just deeply uninteresting tbh. planet her on the other hand did grow on me, naked really should have been a single.
overall my year was a lot more pop heavy compared to 2021, the list of genres i listened to halved(!), so i'll try to get back into more obscure artists and genres next year. charli was my top artist and lighting was my top track and honestly i stand by it, hearing it live really brought it to a new dimension, but it's amazing as is. crash was such a wild ride with the singles and all the mess before the release, but i'm really glad with how it came out and can't wait for a new era
yesterday mina le tweeted something that really stuck with me:
"idk how popular this opinion is but spotify wrapped feels so icky to me like a reminder that all the music i listen to is being tracked by a corporation and my attention is treated more like consumption of a product rather than engagement with art"
a bad habit of mine is overusing private mode on spotify bc i can't stop thinking about the algorithm and how listening to something will affect my wrapped so much so that my actual wrapped doesn't reflect my year at all and this tweet solidified that i really want to stop doing that and try to actually engage with music without overthinking.
even though we usually talk about music, my favourite thing from this year to recommend isn't an album but the internet princess substack by raine fisher-quann. every essay she posts perfectly encapsulates all my thoughts about that topic and does it with some wonderful writing and a refreshing amount of nuance and honesty. this is standing on the shoulders of complex female characters which feels oddly topical with the annual spotify wrapped day.
i hope you're thriving, i wanted to thank you for being my 2022 version of a pen pal and for making this year brighter <33 tell me everything and anything in the reply i want to hear it all!
LOVE the length of this ask let's get into it. i think my top 5 is more or less the same, though i have gone back to a couple albums that came out earlier to give them their moment. specifically, it was a home by kaina. willow's album came out since then, top 10 for sure i think it's a better conceptual album compared to LIFE but i prefer the songs on LIFE more. been LOVING yuna's Y5, too, if you're into r&b. coco & clair clair's sexy is in my top 5 for sure.
songs off caprisongs growing on me 11 months after release is so twigs. i do skip the almost whole minute of talking at the start, but i am liking it. i really like frankenstein, but my fave is your age fo sure. i will have to return to hold the girl and serpentina by banks especially as BANKS is an artist who i've been listening to for so long so i want to give her album another chance. i haven't returned to omar apollo's album at all since release and spotify keeps putting his songs in my release rader. kindly, i'm not listening. <3
i kept up with my monthly playlists so it's been so fun going back to specific moments in time/actually seeing when i discovered new artists. i listened to 85 genres this year, apparently. new artists i discovered: take van in january (her new singles have been so long, love buzzkill and what's on your mind), SIPHO in february (chiasma is such a beautiful song), dreamer isioma who ended up in my top artists but it was literally just really, really and voulez-vous me to. tei shi released a new single i really like, too. i'm really looking forward to kelela's new album in february.
yeah i get you completely! i start the year so aware of what i'm listening to but it kind of tapers off towards march i love listening to music so if i'm at home it's playing most of the day if i'm not watching stuff. it's actually funny i may have met a potential work bestie yesterday and we spent like 20 minutes just talking about music and gigs we'd want to go to??
i'm going to read the newsletter for sure! i think my favourite thing this year has been how much my life has changed? i started this year at the end of a christmas contract in customer service and now i'm working in the public sector in transport doing data engineering? it's been full of so many changes but all of them incredibly positive so idk it's just been a really good year for me. i've watched a lot of good shows this year.
i hope you're doing well, too! i love how this blossomed from us both being so nervous during the crash rollout into what it is right now. <33
#imo inquiries#anonymous#i had my work christmas do yesterday and i still feel so rough?? had such a good night though it was so fun

pairing: nishimura riki x f!reader
summary: as the captains of the girls and boys dance teams respectively, you and nishimura riki have a mutual hatred for one another. to you, he’s cocky and self centered. to him, you’re constantly stealing his spotlight without hesitation. but when a rumor goes around that you did some… questionable things… with the captain of the lacrosse team, riki finds that maybe— just maybe— he doesn’t hate you that much after all.
⇦ thirty four. | epilogue. ⇨
masterlist
— tomorrows the day 🙁 i hope this reached ur expectations
𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞: 𝐢’𝐦 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰 (𝟐.𝟏𝐤)
your day started at six in the morning and you had been freaking out internally ever since.
the first issue of the day was chaeryeong and seeun both forgetting their poms at home. luckily, there was an extra pair in the studio closet and isa had brought a spare in case something like that happened. bless her heart.
the second was yuna, your vice captain of all people, was late, despite responding to your tweet like she wasn’t. huening kai from the boys team also happened to be running late and volunteered to pick her up, so that eventually worked out.
but the third and final issue was the one that had been nagging at your mind the entire day. you were going to talk to riki. (read: force him to listen to your feelings without interrupting.)
during warm ups in the studio before you boarded the bus to head to the competition venue, you went over what you were going to say at least a dozen times in your head. the whole bus ride, headphones in and everything, you couldn’t focus on anything else except how the conversation would play out. when you were given the floor to map out formations, you were thinking of what he’d say as you told ryujin and yeji where they should be by the end of hip hop.
it was a constant cycle of being both distracted by the situation and simultaneously staying concentrated on the fact that today was a big day for you and your team. there was a lot riding on you, your dancing abilities, and your leadership skills with university scouts being present.
like all performances went for you, you were nervous all the way up until you were on deck to dance. then it was smooth sailing until the next routine. by the time you performed all four, you felt extremely proud of yourself and the girls. you were completely satisfied with what you left on the floor for the scouts and the judges and didn’t have a single doubt that your team killed it in every category.
you had already finished your day when lunch rolled around, but the boys still had a couple routines left for the second half of the competition. you and your friends met up to eat together, sitting at a table with the sandwiches provided to all the competitors by the hosting dance company.
“so how do y’all feel? good?” heeseung asks, popping a potato chip into his mouth.
“better than that. i feel so content with what we did today, hee, you have no idea,” you smile, reaching across the table to take one of beomgyu’s chips (his were different from yours). “now it’s just a matter of getting my shit together for after the awards.”
“honestly, n/n, today has been such a good day, you shouldn’t be stressing about that anymore. just go with the flow. it doesn’t have to be a perfect speech, you know.” yuna says as she rests her head on your shoulder, also snatching one of gyu’s chips. he deadpans.
“what the fuck? is it ‘steal beomgyu’s food’ day or something? you’re already done assholes, i still have two routines so i need the energy.” the brunette flicks you both on the forehead. you snicker, biting into your sandwich before offering him some since he scarfed down all of his own.
“you big baby, here, you can have mine,” yeonjun rolls his eyes, shoving his bag in beomgyu’s direction. “anyways, i agree with yuna. just speak from the heart or whatever.”
“very helpful, thank you, jun.”
“while i’m usually one for thought out plans and shit, and i did help you figure out what to say, those bozos are right. you should say everything you feel without sounding like you’re reading from a script. it’ll be more sentimental that way.” soobin adds, chewing on his sandwich cheerfully. it was extremely rare when he conceded with dumb and dumber so you figured they had solid advice for once.
you hum, swallowing down the last piece of your sandwich as you dust off your hands and stand from the table. “i’m gonna go buy some patches and a shirt,” you turn to yuna. “i’ll meet y’all in the spectator stands later.”
“so for clarification purposes, you and yeonjun do your aerials, we hold a four count break and then go right?” jake asks, laying on the floor of the room that the boys’ dance team was using as their changing room. sunoo sighs, his eyes glancing at riki who was going over their next routine for the third time.
“are you gonna answer him? this is like the seventh time he’s asked.”
“not true. i only asked twice. i just want to be sure so i don’t go early and fuck it up for us.”
riki pauses the music, running a hand through his hair. “yes jake. you hold a four count break. i’ll be back, i’m gonna go to the restroom.”
the ravenette leaves the room for a bit of relief from the stampede of questions he’s been asked since they got to the school for call time this morning. as much as he was appreciative of his reinstatement, he felt a little overwhelmed. he knew his team really needed him to be a part of it, but he didn’t realize just how badly. he wonders how heeseung held onto his sanity these past couple of weeks.
riki walks into the boys’ bathroom, pacing back and forth to calm himself down a bit. in any other case, he’d run his hands under the water and wet his face, but with his performance makeup on, he couldn’t. curse the judges for always being so high up. the door swings open and he pauses, letting out a sigh of relief when he sees that it’s jungwon.
“hey, you good?” he asks, his brows furrowed slightly.
“yeah, i think so. i’m just all over the place.” riki chuckles, though he doesn’t really find anything funny.
“is this about the routines or something else?” the older boy leans against the sink in front of him.
“both, i guess. but it’s whatever. i’m not gonna worry about that today. i need to be in the present.”
jungwon purses his lips. “okay, i won’t bring it up again. i had to check what kind of headspace you were in, y’know? i wanted to make sure you weren’t shutting down yet.”
“not yet.”
you sit with the rest of the girls’ team for the remainder of the performances in the competitor spectating area. the competition was co-ed so it was divided into categories and genders. the morning and half of the afternoon was for the girls, while the second half and the evening was for the boys. it was a plus that you got to support your friends on the boys’ team.
(you also got to see riki in his element, and god was it thrilling.)
it was around eight at night when the entire thing finished and all the teams were dismissed to get ready for awards. while most people usually wore matching shirts ordered online, it was a belift tradition to dress formally, a black and white theme enforced to keep both teams looking cohesive. even the directors, coach lee and coach kim, followed the dress code.
yuna looked so stunning in her white dress, the hem longer on one side than the other, and red heels. she looked so put together, even though she was far from it. you gasp, pretending to faint. “yun, you look so good!”
“me?! look at you! there’s no way your conversation with riki isn’t going well.” she smiles, poking your side.
you smooth out your dress, giving her a thumbs up and a wide grin to hide how truly anxious you were the closer it got to going through with your plan. you couldn’t lie, you did feel like a million bucks though, the short black satin dress was practically made for you.
you walk around the room to see if any of the other girls needed help with anything until it was time to head back to the main area. jayun had you put a safety pin on a section of her skirt and sieun asked if you had an extra bobby pin, but nothing life threatening. (you’re positive you were using these little hiccups as distractions.)
coach lee comes in to get you when it’s time for awards, the team clumping together with linked arms. you meet in the middle with coach kim and the boys before finally making your way over there. heeseung, clad in a white dress shirt and slacks, peers over at you, sending you a wave and a reassuring smile to ease your nerves. ‘we got this. you got this.’ he mouths.
the directors seat you in order and you wait for the emcee to start announcing who won what. when they finally do, you drown out everything, your eyes having landed on the object of your affections. riki was wearing almost the exact same thing as heeseung, except he also had a black jacket on too. you could vaguely hear the sound of your team cheering every time the emcee said you won a category. the boys’ team’s hollering when they learned they won all of their categories too was like tv static in your ears.
the award ceremony went by in a flash, your mind hardly comprehending it at all. while everyone was packing up, both teams ‘nominated’ you and riki to receive your trophies and banners. (really this was just their plan to finally get the two of you alone.)
as you’re walking back to your changing rooms, pulling along your respective carts, you decide to just break the seal and get it over with. “congratulations.”
riki halts, turning to you as if he wasn’t sure you spoke at all. you also stop, cocking your head to the side. he nods. “congratulations to you, too. you deserve it.”
you feel your heartbeat accelerate, your palms beginning to sweat like they usually did when you got nervous. you swallow thickly. “riki—“
“i gotta get back to the room—” you cut him off this time.
“no. stop that. you never let me speak and just this once, i really need you to let me speak.” you shut your eyes, your head falling back in distress. he closes his mouth, keeping his feet planted to the ground.
“okay.”
“you made a point, last friday, when you said i never gave you the chance to explain yourself, that i just assumed the worst in you. you were right. and it pains me that you were, because i was so in love with you, why didn’t i give you the benefit of the doubt? especially when you’d done nothing previously to convince me i should do otherwise. i think i was scared that there was a possibility of rejection,” you take a deep breath. inhale. exhale. “there was a part of me that felt, even if me and you were perfect for each other, i wasn’t enough. you confessed all these big dreams you had, going pro, becoming the best dancer in all of korea— the world— and in the grand scheme of things, i seemed so insignificant in comparison. when i told you ‘you’d never be good enough to go pro’ of course i didn’t mean it. how could i? you’re nishimura riki. you’re the most talented dancer i’ve ever met and if anyone i know is going to be a professional, it’s you. i was insecure and i projected all of that onto you after the fact. i gave up.”
you pause, staring down the hallway when you feel his heavy gaze set on you. you nip the inside of your lip before continuing.
“i was insecure—“ you ignore the urge to cry, facing him directly. “i was insecure, but i’m secure now. i’m sure of myself. i’m sure of you and i’m sure of me. i’m sure of us. riki, we keep disappearing and reappearing in each other’s lives, but this time, i don’t want to leave. i want to stay right here. i’m here, fighting for you, fighting for whatever this could be, because i’m secure now, and because i’m not giving up easily ever again. i’m sure of my love for you.”
his lips are parted slightly, his eyes wide and brimming with tears. he releases the cart handle, taking one step towards you. then another. and another, until he’s standing in front of you, his hands coming up to cup your cheeks. his thumb wipes away a stray tear before he leans in, pressing his lips to your own softly. you relax in his hold, reciprocating the action with all of the emotion you can offer. he pulls away gently, resting his forehead on yours.
it looks like a scene from a movie, the halls empty and devoid of anyone else. it’s just the two of you in your own little world, two hearts beating as one. his next words were like they were ripped straight from a book.
“y/n, i want to stay right here, too.”

the most beautiful moment in life | epilogue
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life.
We all knew that to get to the pretty parts of life, you’d have to get ugly first.
Hey, no pain no gain right?
Well I hope you liked our most beautiful moment in life. Thank you for going through the good, the bad, and the ugly. For running after Hana with Yoongi when she saw the grand opening of 24/7 Heaven. For walking with Huimang to Hobi’s door. For riding the train to Ilsan with Byul to meet Namjoon. For being with Jimin when he was scared and alone with Mingyu. For being with Taehyung when he finally met the one. For being with Jungkook and Rina when they got engaged. And for being with Jin and Mae when their perfect life wasn’t so perfect after all.
It was happy, it was sad, sometimes it made us mad… but I mean, that’s what we have to go through sometimes right? Not only does it make the story more interesting, haha, but it happens in real life. As cheesy as it sounds, rainbows come after the rain.
We started off happy, then went to parts that made us sad or angry.
That’s just what you go through to be happy sometimes.
The boys, the girls, the kids, they all fell apart at one point, only to reach their happy ending.
So hey
If you ever feel like you’re falling apart, maybe you’re just falling into place.
Maybe
Just maybe
You’re about to reach the most beautiful moment of your life.
Because right now, in real life, away from this one, we are all going through the same thing.
Yeah, the pandemic.
I know we don’t all live the same exact lives, but we all had it rough this past (almost) two years.
We might’ve lost a job, a loved one, connection with friends, got sick, got depressed, felt scared, and so much more. Because I have. Not every single one of those in that list, but most of them.
If you were here since daddy duties, that was the start of the pandemic. I believe the lockdown in my country happened when I was posting the intro for that. How crazy?!
For most of us, this AU has been a little escape. A world without covid as someone once said. Actually, a lot of you have told me that reading this AU and receiving notifications for updates etc. are what makes your day. Which means so much to me of course!
“Hey Miya.”
I look up from my laptop to see Jin standing there in front of my desk here at work.
“Hey Jin, do you need anything?” I ask, closing my laptop. I always brought my personal laptop to work for whenever it gets quiet. Being a receptionist here at Moon Studios is pretty fun, but of course, it does get boring sometimes.
“No, no, I’m good. I actually am about to head home, but Yeonjun is still here,” Jin tells me. He has a smile on his face. “You two should go out, isn’t your shift over in a few?”
“Uh.. yeah it is,” I say, letting out a shy laugh. “Sure, um. I’ll just finish this up and I can go and meet him.” Jin nods.
“Okay, I’ll text him to come down soon. See you again tomorrow,” he says, walking away.
“See ya!”
Okay, anywho.
This was fun. A lot of us have a special connection with these characters and don’t want to see them go. Some want to see Rina and JK get married, I mean, we have all been anticipating it since the beginning right? Some want Sarang and Hobi to finally have a baby. And some just want to see the kids grow up.
Because, well…
Life Goes On
!note to readers!
This is in the span of a few years, not everyone’s first pic, second pic, etc. is on the same timeline (does that make sense?)
The instagram post shows a preview of their lives after the most beautiful moment in life. No, they did not all get engaged around the same exact time, nor did they all get married the same time/year, and had kids at the same time lol. It just shows that after the most beautiful moment in life they went on with their lives and got engaged, got married, had kids etc.
It could be the same year or different years. (ex. Rina and JK could of gotten married the same year Sohyun and Yoongi got engaged and around that time, Sarang and Hobi got pregnant.)
No years or dates were specified in this epilogue.
Also, the OCs instagram profiles are in the order of the AU’s release, not the dates of when the events of their lives happened!

a/n: now this wraps it up! i felt like i said everything i needed to say already up there. but here’s a bit more. this au is so so so dear to my heart. never have i ever thought it would make it this far. nor did i ever think that i would have this many people reading it! i have made so many friends from this series. you all have a special place in my heart! thank you to everyone who followed along since the very beginning, and even the ones whom just found out about us in the last member’s au. i didn’t think i’d be so attached to these characters, so just like a lot of you.. i want a part two. so with that being said, the most beautiful moment in life goes on. let this be a “part two” to the series, although it will be completely different in terms of format (???) i’ll have an official post on it later this week! until then, this isn’t good bye :)

That Friday night was just like every other Friday night that you and Jungkook had went through. Jungkook would want take you to the club which him and his friend always go every Friday night to get a drink or two together. Usually you would always find excuse to join him so that you don’t have come face to face with his friend. You know how they feel towards you. They’re not so fond of you the moment Jungkook had introduced you as his girl and till now you never know why. They had never told you why though. But Jungkook doesn’t aware of that. It’s not because he doesn’t care but you just good at keeping secret.
That night, since you couldn’t find a reason to not join him, Jungkook had dragged you to get you ready for the casual meet up.
“Do I really have to do this?” you whined hoping maybe he let you go again this time. “Of course you have to baby. Plus it’s been a while since you and my friend last met.” He answered also using the same tone you’re using. “But I don’t want to” you say softly while rubbing a circular motion around his hand. “But why? Is there any reason why you don’t want to meet my friend baby? Are they making you uncomfortable?” he asked, patiently waiting for your answer. “Noo, it’s not that” you fell silent. You’d been contemplating whether to tell him or not about the beef going around on his friend with you. “Fine, I’ll go”
The ride to the club feels very unnecessary long. Everything looks stretched out to you. Something about going with him tonight doesn’t feels right to you but you never said anything. Only fidgeting with your fingers to calm your nerves. “Is there anything you’re hiding from me”. Jungkook asked, breaking the comfortable silence. “Uhmmm, nothing? why?”. You replied, timidly knowing that he sensed something. “Nothing, you just seem out of place since we got out of the house. Is everything alright?” he asked once again wanting you to spill anything to him. “Everything’s alright I promise you. I’m just nervous I guess. You know since I last met your friend was a long time ago. Kinda having the first time jittery all over again. You giggled slightly. Jungkook smiled softly at your response. “You know that was unnecessary. They all love you” he said. Oblivious to the fact that some of his friend has never get their liking towards you since the moment they laid their eyes on you. “I know, I’m sorry” you said softly. ‘There’s nothing you should be sorry about angel” he said while slightly glanced at your side. His eyes meeting yours and you both fell into fit of gigles. The car rides continue with some small talk here and there until you arrived at the club.
Hand in hand, you and Jugkook entered the club. With the club owner being one of Jungkook’s close friend, you both easily got into the club without having to wait in the long line to enter it. Making your way passed the heavy crowd, your hands never leaving Jungkook worried that you might get lost in the massive crowd. The club is one of the infamous club known at the place both of you lived. So the big crowd was understandable.
When you and Jungkook arrived at the VIP lounge, you already feel judging stares from his friends. “Oh look who finally decided to show up!” Taehyung said loudly making everyone stares at you and giving you ‘the look’ making you feel slightly uncomfortable. “What’s it with you and your tone” Jungkook asked annoyed by the feeling that his friend is mocking you who suddenly shows up at the weekly gathering. “Woah! Don’t go with the all overprotective boyfriend thingy on me, I’m just excited that we get to see y/n’s angelic face again since you decided to not bring her on every gathering we had in the past” he said while pretending to be smiling. “She’s just been busy. Isn’t that right baby?” Jungkook asked including you in the conversation. “I am plus we barely even have time to spend together. So, I decided maybe I can spend some time with him here tonight. You said smiling at Taehyung. “Is that so? Anyways, are you guys planning on standing there the whole night come and sit with us” he said, making space for both of you. You sat next to Jungkook and had join their conversation every now and then.
Talking for a long time was making Jungkook’s throat crave for waters. So, he suddenly got up to get the water to lubricate his drying throat. “Wait, where are you going?” you asked getting confused but you got up anyways ready to follow him to wherever. “I’m just gonna get us drinks. What do you want? Some Coke?” he asked. “Can I just follow you?” you asked feeling nervous by the fact that he was leaving you alone with his friends. “It’s okay, I managed, you should sit here and relax. You look tensed” he said, noticing your jitters. “O-oh okay then, coke is fine” you said. Already feeling suffocated. He nods and went to grab the drinks. You sat back at the sofa and brought up your phone to scroll you Instagram in order to avoid conversation with his friends. But you didn’t go unnoticed by his friends.
“So y/n, it’s been a long time huh” Namjoon, one of his friend said. “Yeah it’s been a long time” you replied not really wanting to start any conversation with them. “We didn’t expect you and Jungkook gonna last this long. You know since you only like him for his money and all” he added. With a perplexed look, you looked at him and asked. “What do you mean?” “Oh come on y/n playing dumb doesn’t suits you” he said. “No, I really mean it. What do you mean I’m with him for his money?” you asked again wanting explanation. Is this all of this about? Are they saying that you’re a gold digger? “Like we don’t know miss y/l/n. The time you met Jungkook was when you in desperate need of money and Jungkook just happened to like you at that time and you being the gold digger slash slut that you are you shoot your shot” he explained. All of JUngkook’s other friends nodding in agreement. All of the peoples at the lounge focus was now unfortunately on you. You don’t like it. Their stares make you feel 10,000 times small. Did they just call you a slut?
“I’m not a slut nor a gold digger. Stop calling me names” you said under your breath but unfortunately Namjoon heard it. “What did you said y/n? stop calling you names? Oh I’m sorry but that’s just who you are” he said getting annoyed by the fact that you had the courage to even talk back. “Y-you know nothing about me. Why you all just assume things? Is that why you never like me since the first time” you said eyes getting teary and the sob you’re holding back down your throat doesn’t helping at all. Why does it take so long for Jungkook to grab 2 glass of drinks? “Break up with him” Yuna one of Jungkook longest friend said with a stern voice. “W-what?” you asked softly not trusting your own voice. “Are you deaf” she said while walking up to you. They always verbally bully you but it never it never gets physical but with Yuna walking up to you now, your mind was racing with thousands of thoughts. Afraid of what’s going to happen next you got up and ready to ran but she quickly gets your wrist. “Where are you going? Are you going to tell your boyfriend? Are you scared y/n? Did we scared you?” she said with that annoying high pitched voice.
“I said break up with him you slut!” she said while clenching her teeth “You’re not like us. Look at us we have everything that you can only wished you have. We are gonna be somebody someday. You and him doesn’t match y/n. Can’t you see that? I see you not just deaf but you’re also blind” she said while slightly pushed your forehead with her index finger. “S-stop” you said while trying to grab her finger to stop her. By now the tears were no longer held back. “Y/n can’t you see? Jungkook doesn’t even like you that much. He’s just playing around. Every fucking human in this room knows that he’s gonna end up with people on our level. Hell I don’t think his parents gonna like you if they ever meet you” he said breaking your self-esteem piece by piece. “Why are you being mean? I never did anything for you guys to hate me this much” “Don’t you get it y/n?! you.are.not.like.us. Your poor ass doesn’t fit us” she said again now patting your head. “Stop crying nobody cares” you not sure who but it’s some people behind Yuna. “Now please get the fuck out of here before you’ll taste someone’s fist” Yuna said while roughly pushed you onto the wall. Without a second thought you get off there and sprinted to the women’s toilet while gently wiping your tears away.
Fortunately, Jungkook saw you going on a full speed to the toilet while wiping your face. Had you been crying? What happened?
Jungkook”s POV
While getting my drinks done the bar tender suddenly went out to the kitchen to grab some stock for the drinks that’ll be needed tonight. He asked me if I can wait a little longer and of course I said yes because I don’t think I’m rushing for anything tonight since you’re here with me I don’t have to rush home. So I wait while scrolling Instagram to kill times. But I lost count how long did I wait but I’m sure it hasn’t been that long though. Finally, the waiter came and did our drinks and finally handed it to me. I rushed to you taking into consideration that you might be really thirsty by now. But what I saw did break my heart why are you crying? So I rushed to the lounge. Why did everybody look so tense?
“Did something happen to y/n? why did I saw her crying? Did you guys said something mean? What happened here?” but he met with complete silence until Taehyung decided to speak up. “Don’t know, she just suddenly called us names and went into full crying mode. She’s annoying crying on every possible situation. You should find someone else kook. Someone who is on our level” he said getting on Jungkook’s nerve. “Oh shut up at least she’s better than those girls you hooked up with” with that being said, Jungkook put the drinks and went to wait for you at the toilet. After a while you got out.
“Baby what happened? Are you okay? whatever happened while I’m gone I’m so sorry sweetheart” he said while opening his arm for a big warm hug. Exactly what you need. He gently wipes the tears under your eyes while his eyes busy scanning your face. You said nothing but nuzzled your face more into his chest. “Do you still want to be here or do you want us back home” he asked while gently rubbing your back. “If you want to stay here a bit longer I don’t mind, I’m okay with anything” you replied while getting teared up remembering their harsh words towards you. “I don’t think I want to continue this anymore, let’s go back hmm?” he said. “Okay” you said smiling softly at him. “You wait here I’ll go get our things and you have a lot of explanation to do at home” He said while pushing a strand of hair off your face.
Jungkook went to get both of your things and quickly jogs his way to you. You both went out of the club and went back home.
At home
At your shared apartment, you both get your night routine done and got yourself ready to sleep. You can’t help but to remember all those nasty words they called you
GOLD DIGGER SLUT GOLD DIGGER SLUT
That night before went to sleep you told him all about his friends. You’re were nervous at first. Scared that he might not believe you but you told him anyway and he believe you. He was so pissed at his friends that you’re thankful that you’re telling him this while you both were alone at home or else tonight might ended up with blood. He was so tensed that night. Can’t believe his friends hated you that much. I mean they’ve told him a couples of time that he should have never got into relationship with you but he also never knew why they hated you. now he knows and he promised you to confront them the next time he sees them.
You both are on your bed with him spooning you from behind while he whispered sweet nothing into your ear. Reminding you that you are worth more than anything in his eyes. Calming you and he make sure to make you feel loved with his kisses that he would do it be it on your lips, nose, neck, forehead, cheeks you named it. It makes you realised that you should care less of what others think about you because at the end of the day Jungkook would always love you and he make sure that you feel and know it every time and you love him for that.

Pairing: Lee Donghyuk x Reader
Genre: Comedy, romance.
Warnings: None, just some swearing.
Word count: 6.2k
Plot: You didn’t know how your best friend had managed to convince you to go to this blind date, you hated the idea and you knew it was not going to be succesful since the very beginning, specially since she refused to tell you who the guy was. If only you had known it was Lee Donghyuk, the only person in this world that seemed to hate you, you wouldn’t even have bothered to get dressed up in the first place.

Sitting on the passenger seat of your best friend's car you stared ahead at the american styled cinema, where the blind date she had organized for you would take place in. You kept internally swearing at yourself, trying to remember why you had agreed to something like this in the first place. Yuna had been insisting about this for an entire week and you had grown tired of her whining at some point so you had accepted that the only way to make it end had been accepting the blind date and here you were, having a mental breakdown while desperately trying to calm yourself down. You couldn’t lie though, the idea of opening the car door and running away before she could catch up to you had crossed your mind more times that you would like to admit but you knew Yuna would ran you over with her car to stop you if she had to, she had no mercy when it came to things like this.
Dates had never been your forte and you didn’t need to be a genius to guess blind dates weren’t going to be suited for you either. It was not that you were socially awkward, in fact, you had always been the kind of person that attracted everybody’s attention unintentionally, your big, bright smiles always lighting up the room you were in. The cheerful yet easy-going aura that surrounded you 24/7 lifted up even the worse moods and your positive mindset gave you this chill flow that turned contagious, people basically loved to be around you.
Although the little confidence you seemed to have around your friends was quick to vanish when you found yourself alone with someone that was of the opposite sex. Compliments made you stutter, innocent caresses made your eyes zero on the ground underneath your feet and flirting turned your face red. Everyone thought it was cute, guys kept muttering how their heart melted when you turned so shy around them but you honestly didn’t like it, in fact, it only made you feel even less confident when any of those things happened. Nobody noticed it made you feel uncomfortable, that the constant fidgeting that you unconsciously did when all of those things happened wasn’t because you were too shy but because you wanted to get out of there. You tended to avoid all those kinds of interactions at all cost and that implied avoiding dates. Being single is alright anyways, you didn’t feel an urgent need to change that.
So again, why the hell were you here then?
“Ah-ah” The sudden voice of Yuna, the one to blame about your current situation, made you jump on your seat, not having expected her to speak up out of nowhere. Your hand moved away from the door handle as if it had burned you and your eyes closed defeated while you slumped back against the leathered seat “Don’t even think about running away” Her warning made you whine, face scrunching up in dislike which earned you a strong slap on your arm.
“Ow!” You screamed shocked, opening your eyes to look at her in disbelief “What was that for? I wasn’t going to run away!”
Struggling to keep her serious face on, Yuna glared at you “You’re going to ruin your make up if you keep frowning so much!” She scolded, rolling her eyes when you lied at her “Please (Y/N), we both know you suck at lying so let’s just ignore you were trying to open that door and started running as if you were possessed”
“Please Yuna?” You asked quietly, almost ready to kneel down on your seat and start seriously begging “I’ll do all the house chores for a week, I’ll even do your laundry” When Yuna shook her head, you sighed in frustration, knowing she was determined to make this blind date happen no matter what. “What’s so special about this date that you’re not letting me back down from this?”
“I’m doing it for you, I’m sure you’ll have fun in this one” Yuna said gently, her smile turning sweet as she faced you, reaching out to rest one of her hands on your shoulder so she could give it a soft squeeze “Trust me, I’ve never lied to you, have I?”
“Well” You said quietly, giving up as you relaxed, a smirk appearing on your lips “Actually…”
“Get out of my car!” She screamed, not letting you finish the sentence that would refutate her last question “Take your ass into that cinema and have fun tonight, you’ll tell me all the details later!”
Opening your mouth, you were about to let out another little rant full of complaints and whines but Yuna, who had obviously seen this coming, sped up and left you completely alone in the parking lot. A cold breeze blew right on time, making your body shiver as you slid your sweaty hands in your pockets, your brain still trying to weigh the decisions you had in hand.
Enter the cinema and attempt to enjoy your blind date or be painfully murdered by Yuna.
You were too young to die, your daily life was awkward enough so why not add a bit more of it for a few hours?
“I’m seriously going to kill her when I get home” You muttered out loud, fixing your jacket as you forced yourself to start walking in the direction of the cinema. One step at a time, moving against your will.
Right when you approached the door and reached out to pull it open, someone else pushed it from the inside, almost hitting your face with it. Ready to scold whoever had been so careless, you put your baddie face on and rested your hands on your waist copying the position Yuna used to scold you whenever you did something wrong. Although it was a couple who walked out, hands intertwined and eyes too focused on the other to even realize you were standing there. You opened your mouth to say something but your heart clenched just in time to stop your own voice, feeling bad for almost interrupting the little moment they were having. You could only look at the both of them as they walked away, a quiet sigh exiting your lips when you felt a spark of jealousy in your chest, being single might not be as fun as you wanted it to be, if only dating was simple as that couple made it be....
"Get out, I'm late!"
Interrupting your train of thoughts, a presence behind you and apparently willing to head inside the cinema at light's speed pushed past you without even looking back to see if he had made you fall down.
"Hey!" You shouted, stumbling back but luckily resting your hand against a nearby wall to steady yourself, frowning at the masculine figure that ran inside the cinema. He was now the new target of your inner frustration, which had gotten so much stronger that you didn’t even realized that voice didn’t belong to a stranger but to someone you fairly knew. You caught a glimpse of his long black coat and his fluffy hair but it still didn’t ring any bells to you "Ugh, why so-"
Dusting off your clothes, your eyes landed on the watch you had chosen to wear tonight and when you saw the time, your heart literally stopped beating. You had arrived fifteen minutes earlier, how were you late all of a sudden?
"Excuse me!" You exclaimed as you ran past the cute couple, barely managing to dodge them as you rushed inside as well. Their complaints were cut off by you closing the cinema's door behind you but you weren't fast enough to stop your own feet before walking into the guy that had made his way in before you, the one that ran into you like a freaking rugby player.
"Ow!" He jumped away when your face slammed the back of his coat, sending waves of pain through your nose. Your hands flew to your face and you bit down hard onto your lower lip to not start swearing like a truck driver. "Dude, watch where you're going!"
"Where am I going?" You said in pain, still covering your face as you tried to get rid of the couple of tears that had appeared in your eyes "What were you doing standing there like a creep?" You heard him groan and the sound only seemed even more familiar but you still couldn't guess who he was.
"Wait" Surprised by the sound of your voice, Donghyuk turned around so fast that he almost hurt himself. His eyes opened wide and his mouth opened and closed as if he was a fish out of the water. "(Y/N)? Is that you?" At the sound of your name you couldn’t help but peek up curiously, willing to see who was the one to blame for almost breaking your nose.
The first thing you saw were the white and spotless adidas he was wearing, they seemed new unlike the ones you had at home which were totally worn out from how much you’ve been wearing them. Then your eyes moved up without missing the way his black tight jeans hugged his legs, leaving little to nothing to your imagination as the white oversize shirt he was wearing left you wondering what could be hiding underneath it.
“Are you checking me out?” Donghyuk asked scoffing, still looking at you “Gross”
“D-Donghyuk?” His name came out of your lips in a quiet whisper, stuttering it. You sniffed quietly, rubbing your nose one last time before putting your hands back down into your pockets “What are you doing here?” Your question brought frowns up to both of your faces, this was why you tended to avoid dates, what kind of question was that in the first place?
“I could ask the same thing to you” He replied smugly, shrugging as he turned his full attention on to you.
Getting slightly self-conscious, you gathered all the courage that was still remaining in you and crossed your arms over your chest, slightly raising your chin a little so you would look a bit more intimidating instead of looking like a lost puppy.
“I’m here because I’m going on a blind date” You said, your lips unconsciously scrunching up in a cute pout “Why?”
Donghyuk and you weren’t best friends, you didn’t even know if the two of you were even close to be friends to begin with. He was in most of your classes which had forced the two of you to interact a couple of times but he always seemed to be kind of unwilling when it came to maintaining a conversation with you. You didn’t know why but you always assumed he just didn’t like you, your parents had always told you not everybody was going to want to be your friend and he, apparently, was one.
“A blind date?” Donghyuk started laughing at your words, looking at you as if he had just heard the funniest thing in the universe, hands resting upon his stomach as he slightly bent down a little bit. After almost five seconds where you were seriously considering he might have lost his mind, Donghyuk’s smile disappeared and was replaced by a straight line. “You’re kidding me, right?” Blinking, you could only stare at his face feeling extremely confused, was he mad now? How did he go from laughing his lungs out to look as if he wanted to punch you?
“Are you bipolar?” You blurted out, not even thinking before making the question.
“Are you dumb?” He reached out to knock on your head gently, making you flinch underneath his knuckles every time they met the side of your skull “Sounds empty to me so yeah, you might be”
“Ow!” You pushed him away, not willing to be knocked on the head again, throwing daggers with your eyes at him “What’s wrong with you? Did you lose your mind or something!?”
“Please tell me Yuna did not set you up for that date” He whined, stomping one of his feet down onto the floor as he ran his fingers through his hair, kind of messing it up a little bit. Stress was evident on his face now and you were too busy wondering how could he go through so many emotions in such little time to remember you still had to answer him “(Y/N)? Are you even listening to me!?” He snapped his fingers in front of your eyes, bringing you out of your short trance to meet his once again.
“She did….Why?” You replied, slightly tilting your head, looking at him expectantly to see which emotion will you be able to see on his face this time.
It was frustration.
“Why? Why!?” He exclaimed, resting his hands on his hips, eyes as open as ever as he stared down at you “Mark! I’m so going to kill him” He fumed, not answering your question, confusing you even more with his random answer.
“Mark? What does your best friend have to do with this?” You asked, reaching up to scratch the back of your head, feeling extremely lost in this conversation.
Donghyuk whined once again “You’re really are dumb, aren’t you?” He said looking like he was about to cry from how angry he was “Mark and Yuna are dating, they obviously set us up on purpose!” The lady at the front desk flinched a little bit when he raised his voice even more, you smiled apologetically at her and bowed your head lightly, apologizing for his behaviour.
Now it made sense why Yuna had refused to even tell you the name of the guy you had to meet.
“Don’t you trust my taste?” She had asked with a cute pout, one she knew you wouldn’t be able to resist “He’s a good guy! You’ll have so much fun with him” Yuna giggled mischievously, reaching out to grab both of your hands so you could keep your attention on her “And he’s quite handsome too, you’ll thank me for this”
“How would I find him in that place though? I don’t even know how he looks like” You had complained, looking at her, knowing she already had an answer for that.
“You’ll know when you get there, don’t worry about that!”
Yuna’s giggles and words hadn’t been suspicious back then but now that you replayed the conversation in your head, you saw the obvious signs of her pulling you into one of her naughty plans. She was surely going to hear a good scolding from you as soon as you set one foot into your apartment, oh, she was going to regret this so hard.
“Quite handsome my ass” You mumbled pouting, voice so low that Donghyuk didn’t even hear you over his own frustration. Glancing at him, you couldn’t help but laugh quietly at his angry typing, if he kept touching his phone screen that hard the phone would end up breaking for sure.
“He’s not picking up or answering to my texts” He told you, sighing defeated, pinching the bridge of his nose “He’s so dead when I get home”
“Yuna’s not going to pick up either, don’t bother to try” You informed him, standing there as more people walked inside, willing to have the fun you had wanted to have until you found out who was supposed to be your companion for the night.
“And what are we supposed to do now?” He asked reaching down into his pocket and fishing out what seemed to be two tickets for a movie “I already bought the tickets”
His words brought a frown to your face “What if I didn’t like the movie you chose?” You asked pouting at him. You had been dying to check out the new comedy romance that came out not too long ago in which your favorite actor, Cha Eunwoo, starred as the main male character. Donghyuk didn’t even think about choosing that one for sure.
“Yes, thank you Donghyuk for buying the tickets, I could have paid for mine” He said in a high pitched voice, trying to imitate yours “I didn’t know you were the one I was being set up with, I would have made you pay for everything if I had-” Not letting him finish his sentence, you used your purse to hit Donghyuk’s side as hard as you could. “Ow! What was that for?” Donghyuk complained, watching you stealing one of the tickets from his hand as you walked inside the cinema without saying something else, not even waiting for him “(Y/N)! Hey! Hey!”
The people around you probably thought you were having a lovers quarrel….
If the only knew.
----------
Plopping down onto your designated seat, you leaned back against it letting out a soft sigh, keeping your eyes glued to the huge white screen situated in front of you while Donghyuk occupied the seat besides yours.
“If someone we know sees us together, you’re dead” He grumbled, tapping his foot against the floor at a speed that surely wasn’t human “I can’t believe we’re doing this” Donghyuk whispered, shaking his head, looking disappointed in himself.
“You already bought the tickets” You answered shrugging “You would have wasted your money if we had decided to not watch it”
“At least you got popcorn” He muttered without even glancing your way, automatically reaching out to put his hand into the popcorn you just bought.
But before he succeeded in stealing some, you managed to move it away earning another glare for him, if looks could kill, you would have been buried already “I bought this” Despite your words and your strong feelings against him eating the popcorn you bought, you quickly regretted saying it when you remembered he had bought the tickets before you could even think about paying for yours. Besides, he looked as if he could kill you right now and you weren’t going to take the risk of eating something he wanted while sitting in a dark room for two hours more or less.
“Thank you” He said quietly, turning his glare into a fake sweet smile, shoving a bunch of your sweet and delicious popcorn into his mouth and absolutely ignoring the glare and pout on your face as you looked at him.
“What movie are we watching?” You asked him, keeping your eyes on the screen as you also started eating, at this point, there would be no popcorn left when the movie started.
“I told Jaemin to get me the tickets for that Eunwoo’s movie, I know all girls are crazy about him and knew my date would have enjoyed watching it” He explained shrugging, surprising you, he had definitely put more effort than you had expected him to for this date.
After that, Donghyuk and you stayed quiet. The snacks the two of you bought were enough of a distraction to not feel awkward with the silence that had settled down between the two of you while you waited for the lights to turn down. There was no conversation when the popcorns were almost over either so you busied yourself with the trailers that were being played, getting hyped at some movies, thinking you would definitely have to come with Yuna to see them if you didn’t murder her tonight.
A few minutes later the movie started playing and you had to admit you were kind of excited about it. Even if it hurt your ego to admit it, Donghyuk had been kind of sweet, choosing a movie that would surely bore him out instead of picking a horror or an action one that would have put you to sleep in seconds. He had known a romance movie was a safe choice for a date and you silently gave him credit for that, whoever ended up going on a date with him after tonight’s disaster was surely kind of lucky.
Although things started getting kind of weird and alarms started ringing in your head when you were almost thirty minutes into the movie and Cha Eunwoo, who was supposed to be one of the main characters, hadn’t appeared yet. The starting had thrown you off a little, there was no high school and no girls falling in love with Eunwoo and you definitely accepted the two of you were sitting in the wrong movie when the guy that showed up seemed to be running away from something supernatural that ended up killing him.
Damn, you would have been in tears if that had been Eunwoo.
“Uh…” You didn’t know if you should point it out but one glance at Donghyuk told you he seemed to be as uneasy as you were about this entire thing “I think we walked into the wrong room” You whispered, avoiding to lean closer to him. However, when he didn’t even glance your way, you assumed he was either deaf, ignoring you or too into the movie to realize you were talking to him. Moving as quietly as you could, in order to not disturb anyone around you, you leaned in closer to Donghyuk’s ear, making sure he would hear you this time “Donghyuk” You called him out again.
He didn’t shout but his body moved faster than you could react and in a second, all the popcorn that had been left in the container placed between the two of you rained down on your heads. Donghyuk had flinched too hard and his arms had automatically reached up in the air, making the container fly and spilling its content on the two of you just right when one of the ghosts that were apparently haunting his home scared the main character.
“What the fuck (Y/N)?” He asked, serious as ever as he turned his head to look into your eyes. You could feel tears gathering in your eyes as you bit your lip as hard as you could, avoiding to start laughing your lungs out at what you had just seen. You should have recorded it, Donghyuk scared was the funniest thing you’ve ever seen in your life “Are you trying to murder me or something because I ate your popcorn?”
“Maybe” You only said, afraid that if you spoke for longer you would inevitably started laughing and get your ass kicked out of the room.
“Well you almost accomplished your mission” He said letting out a soft sigh, placing his hand on his chest as his heart kept pounding incredibly hard “Jesus, hanging out with you is not being good for my health at all” He whispered, shaking his head, looking down at his knees.
“Didn’t you get the tickets for that romance movie though?” You finally decided to ask, still close to him to keep your voice as quiet as you could, Donghyuk’s eyes were already back on the screen, his hand eating the popcorn that had fallen on him “I don’t see any romance going on here”
When he turned around to face you, his face was in a mix of still offended by his previous yet faint heart attack and a silent ‘are you dumb?’ question “Well the guys wanted to organized this entire thing, I trusted them and right after I saw who Mark had paired me up with I knew Jaemin hadn’t bought the tickets for the movie I wanted either”
“So you’re telling me I have to seat here and-”
“SHHH” Someone from the seats above yours interrupted your sentence, probably fed up with your chatting.
Donghyuk looked over his shoulder and just when you thought he was about to defend you he opened his mouth and surprised you -not for the best- once again “I know right, she’s annoying” You couldn’t hold yourself back though and slapped his arm, ignoring the way he frowned and glared at you while you accommodated yourself back on your seat.
“Idiot” You whispered, rolling your eyes, letting him devour the popcorn YOU bought for YOURSELF, deciding to just focus on the movie and on planning how you were going to get rid of Yuna’s corpse once you killed her.
When your eyes returned to the screen, the main character was currently going downstairs, lights turned off and a flashlight in his hand. You rolled your eyes at the cliche situation and again mentally thought why always people in horror movies thought it was a good idea to check a weird noise without carrying something that could help you defend yourself. In fact, if it was you in that movie, you would have locked yourself in your bedroom and yeeted yourself out of the window.
No murderer or ghost was going to end your life. Not if you were managing to get through this horrible date.
---------
“Can we grab some food?” You asked as soon as the two of you were out of the movie room, ignoring the way the rest of the couples glanced your way and chuckled, obviously amused by how the two of you had behaved during the entire movie. Donghyuk would never admit it but he had been as scared as you, miraculously none of you had shitted your pants.
“No” Donghyuk quickly rejected, not even daring to look at you “Let me just take you home and end this horrible date, please?”
“But I’m hungry” You pouted behind him, using your whiny voice to get on his nerves even more
Donghyuk stopped walking suddenly, making you walk straight into his back once again. This time though you managed to get a quick whiff of the cologne he had chosen to wear tonight, to say he smelled nice would be a total misunderstandment. If it wasn’t for his shitty attitude towards you, you would have to admit that he could have totally stolen your heart away with his looks and that killer smile he always carried around when he was joking with his friends. Unfortunately, his dislike towards you was enough to let you know the two of you would never end up having a relationship like that, you would have to settle with him standing you throughout the rest of the night.
He was quick to turn around though, placing his hands on your shoulders to stabilize you in case you lost your balance “You’re not going to stop whining until we get something to eat, right?” He asked, eyes looking straight into yours.
“Exactly” You replied with an innocent smile on your face before you crossed your arms over your chest, trying to look as intimidating as he did.
Although, in Donghyuk’s eyes, you only looked even cuter.
Sighing, he ran his fingers through his hair before he turned around again to start heading to the parking lot “Alright, we’ll get some food before going home then”
“You’re the b-”
“But you’re paying” He quickly interrupted, walking away even faster before you could start complaining about this newfound information.
---------------------------
”If you drop ketchup on my leather seats, you’re walking all the way back home”
Donghyuk warned as he stopped the car in a deserted place, leaning back against his seat comfortably once he had turned off the ignition. You hummed quietly, letting him know you heard his threat while you also started taking his order out of the paper bag carefully, trying not to drop any food in his precious car. You were kind of far from home and knew he wouldn’t hesitate to make you walk all the way back.
“I won’t, I won’t” You replied with a small smile, breaking the paper bag to put it down on your lap in case some of the sauce of your hamburger dripped down and stained something while you ate it.
Just like it had happened in the cinema, a new silence settled down between the two of you now that you were too focused on eating your food, it wasn’t uncomfortable though, you just preferred eating in silence rather than arguing constantly. While you ate dinner, you noticed a few other cars had parked around his, keeping enough distance to not be able to see who the people inside the vehicle were but still making you frown with curiosity. It wasn’t until you took another look around the place that you finally recognized where Donghyuk had parked.
“Isn’t this the place where people come to make out?”
Donghyuk choked on the fries he was eating.
You hadn’t really done it intentionally, you didn’t even know he was eating when the question had suddenly flew out of your mouth. He kept coughing as you reached out to pat his back with one of your hands, holding your drink with the other to not drop it in the car and make the situation even worse than it already was.
“What kind of question is that (Y/N)? What the fuck?” He asked, voice hoarse as he cleared his throat, still feeling the food stuck in a place it shouldn’t be.
“Are you planning to make out with me?” You asked jokingly, wiggling your eyebrows at him. Maybe it was the lack of light but you thought you had seen a hint of a smile in Donghyuk’s face when you said that, however he was quick to turn his face away and look out of the window, avoiding any kind of eye contact.
“You’re nuts” He muttered, successfully hiding the amusement in his voice, doing it so well that it actually made a frown appear on your face.
You had been thinking about this for the entire night and even though you had tried to play his comments off as jokes, his dislike and rejection towards you was starting to be a little bothering. You hadn’t felt that bad during the date, you haven’t even felt as awkward as you usually did so the time you spent with him hadn’t been that bad. Did he dislike you so much that he couldn’t even bear the thought of making those kinds of jokes with you?
“What? Am I that ugly?” You were supposed to sound amused, your words had been a simple joke in response to what he had said but Donghyuk couldn’t ignore the soft sourness in them, the way you scoffed just told him he had said enough for tonight. “I guess I crossed a line there” You muttered with a sigh
“What are you talking about now?” He asked, turning around again to face you, this time with a frown on his face, a sincere one.
“I mean, I know you didn’t expect to go on a date with me and that our friends were only trying to prank us but you could at least try to hide your discontent a little bit” You confessed, eyes glued to the front glass even though you could feel him staring at you from the driver’s seat “Like I tried my best to be nice and all you did was shove me away, this didn’t need to be a date, we could have just tried to hang out as friends”
Donghyuk knew he had fucked up big time as he listened to your rambling and his attitude had ended up hurting your feelings when he never had any intentions of doing that. He actually couldn’t help but feel bad because of it, staying quiet for a few minutes before he finally decided to say something.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was being that big of a jerk” He said quietly, looking down at his lap before he took the fries he hadn’t eaten yet “Want to eat my fries?”
You didn’t know if he was either joking or being genuinely serious and honestly, you also didn’t know which was worse “I just want to know why you hate me so much” You scoffed tired of beating around the bush, ready to face the explanation you were finally craving for.
“You’re kidding me, right?” He huffed, suddenly looking offended “Like this has to be the ultimate prank of the night” Donghyuk actually turned around on his seat so he could face you with most of his body, eyes dead serious as if he was planning to stare straight into your soul “Why would you think I hate you (Y/N)?”
You blinked confused “Uhm...Do you want me to narrate with detail all the reasons you gave me tonight or….?”
“I don’t hate you” He said sighing, true that he might have been an absolute jerk but he had his reasons “I mean how did you expect me to behave right after you rejected me?”
“What?”
“Especially after how you did it” He kept rambling “I mean, maybe I expected a ‘I'm sorry you’re not my type?’ But not for you to throw the letter away without even giving it a second glance”
“A letter?” You asked, your brain searching for any memories that would resemble something similar to what he was talking about. It only took you a few seconds before you remembered something, it had happened at the beginning of the year and you hadn't paid too much attention to it. During one of your classes, when you opened one of your books during a class, you had found a note but what was written in it had made you assume it was a joke. “Wait, are you talking about the note that said...I like your smile, I like your ass, you should date me, I’m a guy with class….Go out with me, you won’t forget, I’ll buy you food and spoil you to no end?” When Donghyuk stayed in silence as you recited the poem you had found, you guessed he must have been the author behind it. “i thought it was a joke Donghyuk”
“Well, the guys helped me write it and….” Now that he had listened to it from another’s person mouth the poem didn’t sound as good as his friends had made it sound “I-”
“I didn’t even know it was you” You said exasperated “Like Haechan? I’ve never heard somebody call you like that?”
“My friends do?”
“And I should know that because…..?”
Donghyuk had to admit his strategy to ask you out had completely sucked and he could now understood why you thought he had hated you, you didn’t even know you had rejected him in the first place “I’m not listening to the guys again” He muttered under a whisper “Not in my life” He added with a deep sigh
“Yeah, I think you should avoid doing that” You replied with a small smile, watching him drown in embarrassment as he leaned his head back against the seat to stare at the car’s ceiling “So all this time you just thought I rejected you?”
“Well, what was I supposed to think?” He asked hiding his face behind both of his hands, making sure you wouldn’t see the soft blush that was creeping up his neck, you couldn’t help but chuckle at that
“You guys are such huge idiots” You finally said, deciding to break the tension in between the two of you as you started laughing, really amused by the entire situation.
Donghyuk peeked at you through his fingers, feeling even more embarrassed but also kind of relief now that you didn’t seem to be as upset as you were before. He was still shy and felt like a complete idiot for everything but your happiness was just as contagious as ever and he found himself smiling behind his hands, shaking his head in embarrassment.
“Please let me take you out on another date? I promise it will be way better, at least just to make up for this horrible hang out?” He asked mortified, groaning as he hit the back of his head against his seat again.
“You’re kidding me, right?” You asked back, repeating the same words he had used a few minutes ago.
“Was it that bad? Did you really hate it?” He removed his hands from his face to look at your face, he really did seem like he was regretting everything he had said tonight “I promise I won’t let the guys plan it again”
“I’m kidding, I’ll go on another date with you” You said chuckling, watching him visibly relax “But next time…”
“Mhm?”
“You’re paying for the food” Donghyuk allowed himself to finally smile at your words, shaking his head as he chuckled. He nodded at your condition, going back to eating his fries.
“And we’ll make out in here” His so unexpected words made you choke on the drink you had been sipping and the fact that you tried your hardest to not spit it out your mouth only made it worse because it ended up coming out of your nose and unfortunately, staining his leather seats.
“(Y/N) WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST TELL YOU!?” He shouted alarmed, throwing napkins your way, making some of them land on your face.
“IF YOU HADN’T SAID ANYTHING I WOULDN’T HAVE SPILLED THAT THROUGH MY NOSE” You shouted back, breaking the calm and relaxed atmosphere of the place, unknowingly interrupting multiple make out sessions.
If someone would have told the couples around you that the two of you were on your first date, they would have surely replied ‘You’re kidding me, right? Those two hate each other’ but in fact, time would tell that the joke was actually on them and nothing, not even Donghyuk’s leather seats getting food stains, would tear the two of you apart.

His face made a rather pouty expression towards her, ha to think she’d call him stubborn too. Well insinuated that he is, whilst he thought he was rather level headed, granted when it came down to her safety he supposed he would do the most rash thing to ensure she winds up unscathe..then again he couldn't say the same now since she was hurt because he decided that it was better to be ‘careful’ than to be efficient. The man played with his food and it almost cost him the one person that’s made this strange world feel like a home.
A hand reaches forward, to hold it gently, he holds it much like he had the first time they’ve met. He was just a bold traveler that just couldn’t help but take a hold of her hand and bring her so close that he invaded her very personal space, he had done so again but not in a way to tease her this time, it was different in this moment as his eyes held genuine worry for her. “I’m fine, just fine thanks to you, our ‘friend’ is supposed to be just as fine but I was far too worried about you.” Tartaglia might have been a thorn in his side, but a thorn he would endure in order to have ensured Yuna was safe.
Then she asked about what had happened. Hmmm, he wanted to tell her..he really did but not here. The walls might still have ears, the last thing Sinbad wanted was for others to know that he could manipulate elements without the help of a vision. As much as he adored the spotlight, this was something he didn’t want because it would get in the way of him helping this world from the shadows. “Not here..when you’re discharged I’ll answer every question you have..but What I can say..it doesn’t change anything between us if you’ll still have me. I’ll admit that leaving had been the goal. For over five years I’ve traveled, studied, made a name for myself with the sole purpose of leaving.”
He then paused as he gently brought her hand towards his heart. “Then I met you and it really threw my plans out the door the moment we became closer, I didn’t mean to lie to you..I wanted to tell you soo many days..but at least now you have a perspective of how I can publish soo many books in the span of a few months.” There he was making light of the situation again and even giving her a smile for good measure. But now that she was rested..kind of he figured a little demonstration wouldn’t hurt. The man gently sets aside his ‘electro vision’ upon her lap. Whilst it was quite the marvel, a convincing replica but in the end it was nothing but a lifeless husk of metal.
With the vision off his person he slowly took out his sword from his hilt, generating his own magoi into the blade to create a few crackles of lightning to surge around the steel’s mast before disappearing.

𝐵𝒶𝒸𝓀 𝐹𝓇𝑜𝓂 𝒟𝑒𝒶𝓉𝒽 - 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝒳𝒳𝒱𝐼𝐼𝐼
Taehyung's POV
It was 3 AM, and I watched my army train in the practice ground high up from the balcony. Once the army was ready to fight I would be finding my dear. I will tie her up in our bed. I will never let her out and never let anyone go near her. She would be mine and only mine. It's okay if she doesn't love me. I'll love her and that's enough. She just has to be in my arms. I won't let her out of my sight. She will have everything here.
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○
After 12 hours of training my army, I decided it's time to go get my dear. I close my eyes and concentrate on the mark I gave. I could track her wherever she was. I saw her clinging onto that guy... Namjoon. I would be killing him first. I took a good look at her and I noticed that my mark was missing. She somehow had removed it. But that wasn't enough. My venom was coursing through her veins. I could always track her. I teleported myself instructing my army to remain alert and ready.
I start following her. I couldn't stand it anymore. I brought rain upon the city and the electronic screens started announcing the sudden rain with a slight chance of thunder.
Oh, it wasn't just going to be thunder and rain, it was going to be a storm...
Yuna's POV
It started raining suddenly. We ran towards the shade of a bus station and sat there since we didn't carry umbrellas due to the weather app showing sunny today.
"The weather app said sunny!" I whine.
"It's okay, Yuna. It could be wrong sometimes," Namjoon says, "Let's call a cab or wait it out. It might stop soon."
I sigh nodding. After a few minutes, the rain starts pouring harder and it starts thundering.
"I think we should call a cab," I suggest.
"Yeah, I'll call one. One minute," Namjoon unlocks his phone.
It starts thundering heavily and I clutch onto Jin's hand, "Oh my God. This is so sudden."
"It's okay," Jin consoles me, "Let's go home and eat something warm."
"Okay, I've called the cab," Namjoon stuff his phone in his pocket, "It'll take some time since there's a traffic block."
"Oh, okay," I rub my arms and lean into Jin. He wraps his arm around me in an attempt to keep me warm.
Soon, it becomes really cloudy. "What the hell? Why is it so cloudy?" I ask.
"Don't know. But it's cold," Hoseok says shivering with his hands in his pant pockets, "We should have dressed warmer."
"Who knew?" Namjoon asks, "Where is the cab?"
"Ugh," I groan, "Can the cab get here fast?"
Heavy fog started rising due to the rain and our visibility decreased, "Great now we can't see anything," I whine.
"Let's try to walk home," Jin suggests.
"We're not that far, I guess we can walk," Hoseok supports.
"Okay fine. Stay close," Namjoon says and grabs onto my hand tightly.
We slowly start walking. While crossing the street, a car almost dashed into us. I get separated from them.
"Oh no," I panic and shout, "Guys!"
"Guys!"
"Why do you need them?" I hear a voice behind me. I turn around to see Taehyung. I scream and start running. What the hell? I thought he was dead- Oh my God.
"Running won't help you, my dear," he laughs, "I will get you no matter what."
I run into a building and hide in there letting my tears fall. I hug my knees and sit as still as possible. I see a woman sitting on a chair. I signal her to stay silent and she does as told. I hope he doesn't find me here.
"Dear," I hear him chuckle, "Do you really think I don't know where you're hiding? You're sitting behind the receptionist's desk hugging your knees and pathetically crying instead of coming with me and starting your new life away from these sickening humans. You will be in a paradise, my dear. We can start our family. Like we always discussed. But first, you need to be punished for betraying me."
"No," I whisper and shake my head.
"No?" Taehyung asks, "Okay. I'll wait till you come out. I'll give you five seconds. Come out, my dear. There is no escape from me."
"One..."
"No, please leave me alone," I shiver.
"Two..."
"No!"
"Three..."
"I won't go with you."
"Four..."
"Never!"
"Five..."
"I won't come out."
"Okay then..." Taehyung sighs and snaps his finger.
The woman beside me falls to the floor dead. "What the hell!" I scream.
"You won't come out?" Taehyung asks, "It's okay. Let's play a game. Every second you're hiding, a person dies. Starting now. Go!"
I see several more people falling. What have I gotten myself into?
I can't let people die. I'll go out. No, he'll torture me. No. I bury my head into my hands and cry. Please wake up from this nightmare.
I cry harder as I stand up and walk outside. I see Taehyung casually standing there looking at the bodies fallen on the ground. I walk towards him.
"That's a good girl," Taehyung smiles, "Come to me like a good girl."
I stop when I reached him. I start shivering. He hooks his finger under my chin and pulls my chin up.
"Hmm," His voice filled with disgust, "You've gotten thinner. Results of being around sickening humans. It's okay. I'll take care of you even if I'll have to shove all the food down your throat."
He hugs me tightly, "I'm never letting you go, my dear. The more you run, the more my power grows. You can keep running. I have all of the eternity left to chase you down. Eventually, you'll run out of energy and will have to succumb to me."
"Please," I whisper.
"Please what, my dear?" He asks.
"Let everyone go. I'll go with you," I surrender.
"Oh, you've already given up," he laughs, "Good for me. I don't have to waste the time that is meant to be spent with you. I have a surprise for you. Come."
He holds my hands and drags me along with him. "You are going to love this."
He pulls me to a street light and I see three bodies hanging. I gasp. It was Namjoon, Jin and Hoseok.
"NO!" I fall to my knees.
"Your first punishment," Taehyung kneels beside me, "for being fake and leading me on."
He lifts my chin, "Your second punishment," he laughs,
"You're going to scream out loud."

paring: asahi x gn! reader
genre: fluff to angst, light angst, friends to roommates to lovers
warnings: light angst? mentions of cheating, unedited
word count: 3.4k+
notes: this turned out a lot longer than intended and took me too long to finish. the ending was rushed but i hope you like it !! this is also my first time writing for hq ヽ(^◇^*)/
azumane asahi had never been a stranger to feelings of love or, in many cases, feelings of infatuation. anyone who knew asahi was well aware of the fact that he was a romantic with a heart that was bigger than his body - something that says a lot given his tall and wide stature. throughout his three years of high school, asahi had found himself harboring feelings for a classmate or peer. a few times, they even went on to develop into a relationship. while he wasn’t extremely experienced in the area, the former ace wasn’t completely clueless when it came to love - or so he thought.
a boy by the name of hiroaki was asahi’s first ‘serious’ relationship. the two boys were classmates paired together for an english assignment once, then twice, and over time their feelings for one another had blossomed - like tulips in the spring. after hiroaki confessed his feelings for his seatmate, asahi was floating on air. everyone around him could see how much happier he seemed. a sparkle in his eyes, a skip in his step. asahi felt finally full being with him, but that quickly changed after the first month of their relationship.
the boy who was once kind, loving, and so supportive of his partner became anything but those things towards asahi. it started with hiro becoming more judgemental of the ace, especially when it came to the way asahi showed him affection. suddenly, asahi wanting to hold hands, be cuddled, or even a small peck on the lips was ‘annoying’ and ‘too much’ for hiro. asahi shrugged it off. things were fine and if not, then they’d figure themselves out eventually. he just needed to be better for hiro so they’d be happy, so hiroaki wouldn’t be so angry anymore. over time, hiroaki continued to pull himself away from asahi. ignoring the feeling in his gut and the advice of his older sister, he allowed himself to once again get caught up in love.
it wasn’t until his three month anniversary that asahi reached his breaking point. a picnic that his sister and mother helped him pack was tucked away in the woven basket. he sat on a large and soft picnic blanket that provided cushion against the hard ground underneath the zelkova tree. an hour passed, then another. it was beginning to reach the later hours of the afternoon when asahi let out a defeated sigh, feeling embarrassed as he sat alone in he and his boyfriend’s favorite spot in the park. he hadn’t heard from hiroaki for hours now. there was no call or text saying he was running late, that he couldn’t make it, or that he wanted to reschedule their date.
asahi’s vision quickly started to blur, the unshed tears threatening to fall a burning feeling settled in the back of his throat. he wiped them away with his sleeve, gathered his things, and began his journey home. the brown-haired boy wasn’t too far from his home when he saw the reason - or rather, the person why hiro hadn’t shown up for their date. hiroaki was busy with a guy, one he claimed to be just friends with. the lump in asahi’s throat had grown as he watched the scene before him unfold. a bright smile flashed on hiroaki’s face, one that asahi hadn’t seen for weeks, as the boy moved to give a kiss to his ‘friend’.
ignoring the aching in his heart and the overwhelming need to find the nearest private space and sob until his he was content, asahi swallowed the tears and ran home, flowers clutched in his hold. the second he stepped into his bedroom, his walls came crashing down. the dam had finally broke.
asahi’s emotional pain flowed out of his pores, anyone could smell the sadness pouring out of them. a loud, cracked, and nearly raw sob escaped past his lips. the stream of tears grew, becoming thicker as his body shook violently under his comforter. in the midst of his tears, asahi had failed to hear the person entering his room, or notice his mattress sinking next to him, and the hand that had started rubbing soothing circles onto his back.
“asahi?” your voice barely above a whisper, but loud enough for your friend to hear you. still, he remained facing away from you with his face squished on his pillow. “what happened, bub? i thought you were with hiro today.”
a cry left him at the mention of his boyfriend, or perhaps he was his ex now. with all the time he spent daydreaming about love, asahi never would’ve imagined this. he knew love could hurt, he had seen his sister go through heartbreak more times than he could count on one hand, but he never imagined it hurting like this. the weight on his chest was unbearable, making it hard for him to breathe or get a coherent word out.
“do you want to talk about it?” you asked as your hand scratched the hair at the nape of his neck. having his hair played with was something that always managed to comfort asahi, but seeing as it was still tied up into a bun, you didn’t want to just take his hair out without knowing if he wanted your comfort or not.
a sniffle came from asahi along with a nod. before you could move to respond, he was turning around to face you with swollen, bloodshot eyes and swollen cheeks. “can you play with my hair too?”
“of course. i’ll always be here for you, asahi.”
“promise?”
“i promise.”
-
intentionally or not, you kept the promise you made to asahi that day. you were always there for him through his lows and highs and he did the same for you in return. even though he was a mess himself, something he never denied or shied away from admitting, he did his best to comfort you, offer advice, or help in any way you might’ve needed or wanted.
it took a few months for asahi to completely get over hiroaki but once his heart was fully healed, he was ready to give love a chance again. much to his demise, the flames seemed to burn out quickly. he told himself it was because of volleyball and his studies, he was too focused, too busy for a significant other and that was why the relationships didn’t work. and if he wasn’t thinking that he was too busy, he was wondering if it was too much or sometimes too little for his partners. asahi had always struggled with his own insecurities and after being cheated on was a huge blow to the self confidence he spent so much time carefully building up. in his first year of college, he ended up in a relationship that only worsened those insecurities.
asahi found himself falling for a person in his fashion design class, yuna. looking back, he wonders if he truly loved her or if her being so, so different from hiroaki was what pulled him in.
yuna and asahi were both in their second year of college when they met in their fashion design class. outside of the one class they had together, the two rarely saw each other - aside from the few run ins here and there on campus grounds. most people who knew yuna, or at least of her, were aware of the fact she was considered to be a ‘loner.’ the thing was, yuna was relatively popular. the girl attended parties often and whenever she wasn’t alone, she was with a new group of people no one had seen her with before. so, when the news of yuna and asahi being in a relationship got around, people were surprised to say the least.
asahi was timid, especially for a big guy, and everyone knew that. on the other hand, yuna was a relatively short girl with the personality of a shaken up soda. yet somehow with their opposites, they made it work for quite a while. for asahi, it felt as if centuries had passed since his relationship with his first love hiroaki but sometimes old wounds reopened. yuna not only tried to be understanding of asahi’s insecurities, she supported him emotionally and gave him the reassurance he needed. from then, asahi felt as if he finally had found love again.
the couple was together for five (5) months when yuna expressed that she didn’t have a place to stay at the for the next term. asahi asked yuna to move in and from there, it seemed as if things would only keep going up. oh, but he couldn’t have been more wrong.
many people will agree that breakups that come out of nowhere are the most hurtful kind and after experiencing one for himself, asahi couldn’t help but agree. asahi and yuna were both wanting to pursue their fashion careers, looking for internships all over just to have the opportunity to work under a gifted designer. asahi landed a position in tokyo, which would’ve been great for their relationship if yuna hadn’t gotten an internship in an entirely different country. after several hour long conversations, the pair agreed that breaking up would be the best for them. they both knew it was coming at some point but that didn’t mean it hurt any less. the day yuna departed to the airport was a painful one to say the least. the last time asahi cried that hard was that day so many years ago when he saw his high school boyfriend cheating on him.
when asahi closed his apartment door behind him, there was no way to ignore or deny the silence that weighed down on him. yuna’s things had been slowly disappearing from the apartment for months but now, he was finally completely alone. for some, silence was a thing that brought comfort but for asahi, the silence was only more room for his thoughts to weigh down on him.
he could’ve found an internship in the states, then he would’ve been able to stay with yuna. why didn’t he bring up long distance? they could’ve made it work, so why didn’t he try?
his body sunk into the couch even deeper and a sigh escaped his lips. what the hell was he supposed to do now? it was nearly one in the morning, on a tuesday nonetheless, and just about everyone he knew was either asleep or involved in something he had no part in. your name flashed in his mind and a small smile graced his lips. you were usually awake at the most random hours of the night, or morning. asahi could call you, right? even if you didn’t answer by some chance, there’s no harming in trying. his fingers moved to unlock his phone, rushing to find your contact and letting out a sigh once the line started to ring.
“hello?”
“oh, uhm, hi,” asahi whispered.
“is something wrong? do you need me to come over?” the keyboard clicks he heard on the other line came to a stop as you waited for his answer. he assumed you were editing a video, or working on a new piece of writing. you always told him your mind worked better at night, the moon helped your ‘creative juices flow.’
he nodded but remembered you couldn’t see him and responded with a short “yes, please.”
asahi could only feel relieved at the fact you were awake at such an hour, let alone willing to come over and comfort him, or even just sit in silence for a few hours. unbeknownst to him, this was all part of the promise you made to yourself in high school. it was all part of being a good friend and being there for him the way he had been there for you countless times as well. about thirty minutes later, his apartment door opened and asahi was glad he gave you, daichi, and suga all your own emergency key so he wouldn’t have to leave his spot on the couch to let you in. you made yourself at home as soon as you came in. hanging up your coat and stepping out of your shoes, you sat down next to him and placed a bag of food on the coffee table in front of you.
“eat,” you pushed the bag towards him. a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth but it never fully rose.
no words were exchanged while the two of you ate. asahi’s attention was focused on the show he had put on and yours was focused on him. his long, dark hair was out of his usual bun he pulled it into and it fell a bit passed his shoulders. a pair of glasses rested on his nose, the glare from the light making it difficult to see just how red the whites of his eyes had become.
“you know, if you’re worried about getting lonely here, i could always move in.”
asahi’s head turned towards you, eyebrows furrowed. “why would you do that?”
“well,” you swallowed, “don’t like my current roommate. i can’t even exist in peace there. we’ve been friends for forever, you know all my habits, i know all yours. plus your apartment’s closer to my internship.”
“when can you move in?”
you were moved and settled into the apartment two weeks later. the room that was once yuna’s space for working on designs had been turned into your bedroom and asahi couldn’t be happier. well, he was as happy as he could be for someone who was recovering from a breakup.
without a doubt, asahi was the best roommate you had and vice versa. your monrings started off with him offering you a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever you had a taste for that morning before leaving for his morning run. breakfast dates, or any sort of platonic date for the two of you only became more common after becoming roommates. some days it was going into the city and grabbing breakfast before spending most of the day shopping. other days, that meant sitting in a quiet diner and catching up.
your roommate had been extremely busy recently, finally being given the chance to debut his own fashion line and you couldn’t have been happier for him. while you loved and definitely supported asahi in his dreams, things around the apartment had gotten a bit lonely. besides you there were numerous kinds of plants all over the shared space. asahi loved plants, he was a self proclaimed plant dad and living with him only made you grow fond of the green things he called your children. as much as you loved the plants now, they were no match against the nights you and asahi would spend sprawled out on either of your beds eating takeout and binge watching a show that took you both ages to agree on.
tonight was just another day where you both had agreed on hanging out once asahi got finished with his day. it was nothing extravagant or over the top, just ordering takeout and watching movies while camped out in his room. the food came a bit after asahi got home, he greeted you with a quick hug before excusing himself to the shower and you gave him a small nod and smile. things between you two had been changing recently, slowly but ever so surely. it wasn’t odd for asahi to be affectionate with you, or other of his close friends, but his touches went from quick hugs and occasional cuddles after a rough day to lingering touches, holding your hands in his, and a forehead kiss here and there. it wasn’t a bad change for either of you, actually. based off of the way your heart fluttered whenever his hand brushed yours or the way his chest felt warm and fuzzy whenever he saw you, it couldn’t have been a bad thing, right? definitely not.
while asahi was in the shower, you sat on his bed cuddled up with one of his favorite stuffed animals: a giant turtle he named melvin. asahi had a collection of stuffed animals, he treasured them no matter how big or small they were. the shelf above his desk was filled with small stuffies he received as gifts from his friends or family, a few from you, actually. once you started scrolling through titles on netflix, asahi entered the room and got settled next to you on his large, comfy bed.
his hair was tied up into it’s classic bun, a few lose strands fell and framed his face. the hoodie he wore somehow managed to make someone as large and broad as him look tiny. was this the kind of thing asahi did with people he was dating? were you two dating? no, you were both just friends and had been since you were teenagers. nothing more, nothing less. that was what you told yourself any time you found your heart skipping beats because of something asahi said or did, sometimes even just being around the boy was enough for the butterflies in your stomach to go crazy. you pushed those thoughts and unnamed feelings to the back burner. being his roommate was great, you couldn’t- you weren’t going to ruin that because of some feelings you weren’t even sure of.
by now, the takeout was discarded in the trash and the two of you snuggled up together under the covers. for warmth. it was cold, asahi was a human heater, so it only made sense that you wanted to be close to him. the movie binge had been going on for a few hours, you’d gotten through a few episodes of a show you wanted to watch and halfway through a movie that turned out to be garbage before deciding to watch disney’s tangled for the hundredth time.
asahi laid with his head on your stomach, giving you room to rake your fingers through your hair but still be comfortable. one of his arms was wrapped around your thigh, almost using it like a pillow, and the other held a small stuffed bear close to his chest. the movie was getting to the part where rapunzel was telling mother gothel about the floating lanterns when asahi decided to interrupt the comfortable silence that had fallen onto you.
"bubba,” he called, grabbing your attention. you let out a small hum, letting the boy know that you heard him. you could physically feel the way his body tensed under your touch before he turned around so he could face you. his arms held him up to avoid his body weight falling entirely on top of you. the color was drained from his face and you could tell from that and the way his eyes avoided your own that he was nervous, overthinking something.
“i’ve known you since... forever. i can’t imagine my life without you,” he started, “if it wasn’t for you, i’d be so lost right now.”
“why are you so sappy all the sudden?” you snorted. your attempt to lighten the atmosphere made asahi smile, his cheeks growing a bit pink at that too. you weren’t sure if he noticed the way your face was burning at his words, or the fact that your heart was ready to leap out of your chest and right into his arms. maybe, just maybe you were now sure of where your feelings for asahi stood. he shrugged and let out a large puff of air, his head falling back onto your stomach with a small grunt. your hands tangled in his hair once again as his attention went back to the movie. there were a few minutes of silence between the two of you before you pushed your anxiety aside and took a deep breath.
“asahi, i don’t know if we can be friends anymore.”
“wa- what? why not?”
“i don’t see you as just my friend, or my roommate, even. i haven’t seen you that way for a while, if i’m being honest. and i wasn’t going to say anything but you said that and i just-” you groaned and covered your face with your hands. “asahi, i’m in love with you.”
his throat was dry, his heart was beating so fast he was sure he’d end up dizzy in a few seconds but this chance was in front of him after waiting for so long, he wasn’t going to let it slip away from him.
“can i kiss you?”

Top 5 anime that start airing this September! [2021]
After a turbulent summer full of different and interesting anime for us to watch, we are now officially rolling into the new fall season with another list of fresh anime adaptations that you can get excited for! Welcome to the movies and series you can look forward to in the next month of September!
If you haven’t caught up yet, make sure to check out Makii’s ‘Top 13 anime of July’ post first!
With the summer having brought us numerous exciting titles, and the winter months ready to do the same, the list for this month might look a little more scarce, but it doesn’t take away from some highly anticipated anime to come out.
Let’s review together and see what is coming up for September 2021!
Shika no Ou: Yuna to Yakusoku no Tabi (Formerly September 10th)
Our first anime will be a movie which has brought us a nostalgic yet refreshing atmosphere through the trailer, with the name Shika no Ou a.k.a the Deer King.
With the mesmerizing animation that reminds of the classic ghibli movie “Mononoke Hime” and an outstanding soundtrack, Shika no Ou tells the story of a seemingly beautiful friendship between a little girl and a veteran soldier who has seen the horrors of war.
With aspects of calming nature but also action filled scenes from the trailer, we can assume that a variety of interesting plot points will be unraveled bit by bit! The young girl named Yuna has a very cheerful nature and is a complete contrast to the gigantic and stoic Van who seems to be playing the role of the hero in this movie.
The movie is an adaptation of the fantasy novel with the same name written by Naoko Uehashi, and will be produced by the popular studio Production I.G, who have also brought us works such as Haikyu!!, Psycho Pass and Kuroko no Basket.
The original release date was scheduled for August, and has been pushed to the 10th of September which due to COVID-19 might be pushed further, but let's keep our fingers crossed that it will air soon!

The Ancient Magus' Bride: (September 10th)
Chise Hatori has nowhere else to go, so in her desperate attempt to find a new home she puts herself up for auction to bring herself into a hopefully better situation.
Based on the manga, the anime ‘the ancient Magus’ bride’ will now be continued with a three part OVA series that takes on the story of the 16th, 17th and 18th volume of the manga and thereby continues the popular slice-of-life romance drama between a young girl and the humanoid with a skull that has been anticipated by many fans of the show.
The OVA specifically is called “The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Mountain Haze” and deals with a new threat called the “wild hunt”. New characters get introduced next to the original cast and we find ourselves roped into a compelling new storyline concerning a young boy who wants to run from his problems.
What will Chise do to fend off this new evil?
youtube
Free! The Final Stroke (September 17th)
Here we are again! After three seasons, multiple recap movies and prequels, in splashes another continuation of Haruka Nanase’s story to swim to the top!
After the events of season three, this will show us Haru and his rivals at a whole new stage.
At the international stage, the drive, the pressure and the competitions are harder than ever before. With the past trials and tribulations hanging in the back of his mind, Haru promises himself to become worthy of standing on the top.
This movie will be split into two parts, the first being released in September while the second one is due to be shown in April 2022.
The trailer shows us the typical beautiful animation that is even more refined now, and it already promises a lot of dramatical elements, characters we know and love who will make a comeback and new ones that have that international flair.
It’s an accumulation of all experiences and characters we have seen so far in Free! and this movie seems to want to tie it all together with a final stroke!

Princess Principal: Crown Handler (September 23rd)
You always found history class a little more interesting than others?
Well then, Princess Principal should tickle your fancy!
As the fictional country Albion, modeled by Great Britain and its old name, is torn apart by a gigantic revolution, it is a sly act of espionage that sets the ball rolling in this anime. With a lot of action and steampunk elements this anime tells the story of a princess that works against her own royal blood to become queen.
After the anime with 12 episodes, now comes a six part film adaptation with the first movie already out since February, the sequel comes now!
The tone that this trailer sets is extremely promising, and the oddball group of girls that work together is a part of it that shows diversity and fun in a very original setting.

Hanma Baki - Son of Ogre
Punching his way through a third season, Netflix has announced the release of the next adventure of Hanma Baki.
Hanma Baki trains to become a fighter just like father, starting off with conventional training supported by his mother which he grows out of pretty quickly.
With the urge to become better and better, he finds new opponents and fights them in a no-limits combat style. With the very rough yet detailed animation style, Netflix renewed the already existing anime series that was based on the manga and brings the fateful encounter between father and son.
The feud that has been gnawing between the two will now be shown as far as the trailer is concerned, with lots of the typical bizarre fights and techniques we have already seen before.
The release was promised in September 2021, but Netflix has yet to disclose a proper date, which will hopefully be very soon for all the fans of this franchise!

watermelon // mark lee
pairing: mark lee (nct) x reader
words: 1′5k
genre: fluff
you decided his laugh was one of your favorite things in this world the second you first heard it. seeing him laughing with his friends while you all were splashing water at each other made your heart beat race at an incredibly fast speed.
summer time. the period of summer. the beach, the ice cream, the sun, the swimsuits and having fun. or that’s what most people would hope for.
it was day 5 of your summer vacation and saying you were excited was a misunderstanding. you have been wanting to go to the beach for over a month now but finals kept you stuck at home, studying until 3 am, but now that school was over for the next few months, you can go to the beach as much as you want to.
y/n was currently packing everything she would need for her beach day with her friends. as you and your friends had decided the night before, you were supposed to bring the food so you decided to bring some snacks and also some fruit to stay healthy at least for today. (although we all know you were probably going to buy ice cream later that day).
her friends were already waiting for y/n at the beach. not many people were there today so they would be able to have a good time. an hour had passed and they decided to get out of the water and eat some food.
as they were drying themselves they noticed a group of 7 boys who looked around their age sitting down pretty close to them. one of the boys smiled towards them. you could say y/n felt her face heating up and it wasn’t just because of the sun hitting her directly on her face. “he’s cute” she thought. the girls reciprocated the action as the rest of the boys waved at them with shy smiles on their faces.
“i’m so hungry right now” ryujin announced. “me too, i feel like i could eat everything y/n brought and two full pizzas” yuna said. “honestly, same” chaeryeong agreed. “we can eat everything y/n brought and then go get a pizza if we’re still hungry”. “that’s our yeji always being so smart” lia said. “of course! although i do think i brought food for at least two families” y/n announced. “it’s okay, we can always share with the cute guy who smiled at you and his friends” ryujin teased. “he didn’t smile at me” “girl did the sun affect you already? he was clearly looking at you” chaeryeong said. once again, the heat hitting your face as fast as lighting. “why is it so hot all of a sudden?!” you mumbled under your breath. unfortunately, loud enough for yuna to hear. “awww she’s flustered” “okay stop, don’t mess with y/n” “thank you yej-” but before you could finish your sentence she interrupted you. “just because she’s embarrassed, all smiley and probably having a breakdown inside thanks to a cute boy smiling at her doesn’t mean she’s flustered” “stooooop~” you whined while your friends were laughing.
as the laughter was dying down, two boys were walking your way, volleyball in hand. “i think this may be yours” “oh yeah, thanks” you thanked the boy whose eye smile was the softest thing you had seen all day. “no problem! also, we were wondering if you girls wanted to join us. we’re all cool i promise” another guy said. “umm…yeah, sure” ryujin answered.
turns out, they were actually cool. you soon memorized their names and got to know them a little bit and although it should’ve been somewhat awkward since you all just met, for some reason, it felt right. they were all very nice boys, chaotic, but nice.
“y/n i’m hungryyyyyyy” “yuna how can you still be hungry?” “i don’t know, did we eat all the fruit already?” the young girl asked, her eyes full of curiosity and clear hunger. “we still have watermelon, do you want some?” you asked her as she nodded her head. “i can help you with that” the cute guy who had previously smiled your way, whose name you learned was mark, asked you. “thank you, mark” “no problem, i actually love watermelon so i wanted to grab a bite as well” he said, now scratching the back of his neck. “oh so you’re not really a gentleman you just came for the fruit?” you playfully joked which made him get even more shy. “n-no i mean… i also came to talk to you…” his tone was quiet and soft, just above a whisper. you could tell how nervous he was just by listening to his voice. this made you smile “he’s very sweet” you thought to yourself.
“hey love birds! we’re going to the water, are you coming?” haechan yelled at you. “yeah, sure!” you both yelled back. “well i guess my watermelon will have to wait” mark said while passing yuna her piece of fruit.
the water wasn’t too hot nor too cold, it was perfect. different tones of pink and orange were painting the sky as the sun was starting to set. everything about this moment was just perfect. you were currently watching some of the boys talk. by “some” i mean one, mark lee. he had a big smile on his face as he was just chatting with his friends, every now and then looking at you to check if you were having fun or to keep you entertained with a conversation. you noticed how shiny his eyes would get the more he smiled, how he would stutter whenever he got excited or how he would constantly run his fingers through his hair due to how wet his hair was. what you didn’t notice was the way his eyes would get even brighter whenever he looked at you, how his smile got bigger when you spoke or how whenever haechan was going to splash water he would get in front of you so you wouldn’t get salty water in your eyes. you all got into a water fight for whichever reason. you were splashing some water towards jisung and chenle while renjun was splashing water towards you. jaemin and jeno were attacking lia yeji and chaeryeong. yuna and ryujin stayed on the sand since they were eating, watching you act like little kids. and of course, haechan was trying to drown mark.
you surrendered to renjun since you were getting tired of playing so you stayed out of the fight to laugh at. them being chaotic 5 year olds until someone got your eye. they were all laughing now but his laugh was louder and somewhat softer than he rest. his eyes were the brightest, you could see a whole galaxy in them as he threw his head back from happiness. you decided his laugh was your favorite thing in this world the second you first heard it. the more you watched him laugh, the faster you heart beat got.
half an hour after and you were now just listening to mark play the guitar while the rest of you were singing random songs. you learned that they all had beautiful, soothing voices. you tried to concentrate on each of their voices but mark kept taking your attention away from them. the sky was now filled with stars and you felt like you were in a different dimension since life had never hit this differently. he caught you staring at him and sent a wink your way. you tried to look somewhere else but you were mesmerized by him.
jeno took the guitar away from mark so he could relax for a little bit. you remembered how mark had previously told you that he felt the need to be the older brother /role model of the group and take care of everyone always so seeing how jeno was looking out for him made you smile.
“hi” mark said with his soft voice. “hi” “you know i didn’t want to come to this beach today but i’m glad i did” he confessed. “yeah? why are you glad?” “well because if i hadn’t come i wouldn’t have met you and i also wouldn’t have seen your smile… and that would’ve been a crime” “oh so he knows how to flirt?” you joked, trying to act cool although you were screaming on the inside. “well, he tries” “i’m glad you came today” you said as he put his arm around your shoulder.
your smile had never been bigger than at this very moment. you may have just met mark but you were so comfortable being with him it felt like you’ve known each other for years. you were happy just being next to him and that happiness was visible in your smile. “your smile makes me crazy. it may be my second favorite thing in the world” he was looking at you in the eyes. “oh yeah? what’s the first one then?” “watermelon” mark said as you playfully hit his arm. “well you’ll have to ask your watermelon for a kiss then because i’m not gonna give you one after you said that” “ahh man what?! i could have gotten a kiss are you serious!?”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
you hate this.
you hate the smell of some random sharp chemical scent stinging your nose, the bland flavours of each meal, the repeated uniform gowns put onto you like you were attending school again. well you were supposed to be until medical records showed you were sick. not dying but based on several incompatible matches and rejected cases to cure your condition, you knew the trail you stood on was heading there.
it was dreadful, knowing that the weeks turned to months— waiting sucked big time especially when you continuously had to cross out days without a specific date to look forward to.
“don’t worry y/n. this is all temporary.” was the only sentence your brother told you.
you hoped all this would be a hurdle to jump over, like another race to finish. running along the track line had its perks. you get to challenge yourself at the endurance you have while the time ticked and caused a rush of exciting adrenaline. the audience were cheering too. the downfall?
you were tired.
to the point you wanted to stop this illness so you wouldn’t have to suffer anymore. the track drawn out for you was neverending.
here’s the good part though,
jaehyun was with you all since the day you arrived, and cheering for you too— like your own personal health companion. the encounter with him was amusing now that you recalled it.
( three months ago )
you sat comfortably on the bed, still adjusting to the new yet familiar setting. “change into this gown, and i’ll assist you to the doctor once you’re done.” nurse kim, better known as jisoo, patted your shoulder before she tended to others in need.
“thank you.” you mouthed, throat still sore from crying because you didn’t want to be back in the hospital. though you really felt fatigue consuming you and energy was vacuumed out of your system, you forced yourself to change anyway.
not until your peripheral spotted a young man opposite from you stared at your body that was half way to exposing. he knew you were about to react, so he rushed to cover your mouth and managed to muffle out a scream trying to escape your lungs. “shhh! please don’t!” he pleaded and gosh how melodic his voice was for a baritone.
thank heavens this man was ethereal, or else you would’ve smacked him with your fists like any other stranger intrusion. he finally let go of you knowing you’ve calmed down. “hi? i’m sorry if i came off as perverted but i mean no harm! i’m friendly!”
“well hello friendly.” your sarcasm on point. “what are you doing in my side of the i.c.u.? there’s a curtain surrounding my corner and how did you get in here without my knowledge? i should be able to notice you either way.” you hugged your torso.
he crossed his arms at the tone of your voice. ”it’s jaehyun. my name’s jaehyun.” he corrected and sat at the end corner of the bed. “that’s kinda hard for me explain.”
“what’s hard to explain-”
“it’s like how it is to a math solution.” he said, his body adjacent to the window. “go on and change. i won’t look.”
you rolled your eyes and kicked him off of the bed. “ugh you’re a pain. i’ll be more assured if you’re out of here.” you took off your clothes and into the new fabric and observed his back figure. he had toned muscles denting slightly under his denim pajamas and white home slippers. he didn’t leave, just kept his word by not peeping at you.
the bed creaked softly alerting him of your finished action. “ah, you’re done!” he exclaimed and turned around in interest.
“what business do you have here if i may ask?” you went to the extent of covering yourself with another pillow.
jaehyun hummed as he rubbed his chin, dimples hollowing and prominent stubbs pricked his fingers. “i’m looking for something i left. it’s a keychain.”
“couldn’t you just go to the lost and found section?” you asked, shooing him away while you scrolled down your phone. again he didn’t leave. “how long are you staying?”
a sly grin crept his face. he leaned closer to you as if he were to kiss you. “as long as you want me to-”
“gross!” you slapped him but he read your actions, stopping your from pursuing. “just find the damn item and leave!”
“fine sheesh.” he shrugged and began searching it under the bed, crawling around to see if it was there.
boredom soon came and you tried to clear your mind from what just happened. you went to the camera icon to take a picture of him to show to your best friend. the viewfinder captured his fluffy hair, side profile with his dimples stapled to his cheeks. his lips were pursed and brows were scrunched. as you sent it, you laid back inclined to the bed, waiting for him to say ‘eureka!’ or ‘found it!’.
but he said neither.
your phone dinged soon enough that your eyes widened.
[09:03] yuna: did you see a cockroach crawling again? if yes then you’re a bad photographer 😆
you let out a long “ha?” and jaehyun looked up to see your face as sour as it could get. “what’s wrong?” he asked and sat next to you as if you both were close already. his face turned blank when his eyes looked at the phone, and he knew you saw his change of expression.
“this is what i mean it’s hard to explain.”
there was a long silence and then it hit you. it wasn’t sheer panic bubbling your lungs or fear overpowering your mind. more of a fascinated shock of a revelation. “y-you you’re—”
jaehyun smiled embarrassingly, scratching the nape of his neck. “yeah.. i’m a—”
“a ghost.” “an angel.”
“what? no! i’m not a ghost!” he shifted on the bed, furthering away from you at the comment. “ghosts haunts people. angels protects people.” his hand gestures explaining his current identity was hilarious.
the phone was on low power mode so when it dimmed, you tapped on the screen, the picture you took show no one but the floor and the bed’s corner. and you haven’t laughed in a while, this jaehyun was entertaining when he defended. “pretty sure that’s not how i encountered you earlier. you scared me.” you raised a teasing brow.
“it really wasn’t my intention.”
the sigh he let out made you laugh more, his surrendering whine would stay in your head forever. “were your wings removed, jaehyun?” you asked. “can other people see you? or am i the only one who can see you? oh wait. this is a million dollar question.” you brought your hands together and he definitely wasn’t amused. “are you even alive?”
he flicked your forehead and you swore there was a red mark on it. “yes. yes—well only children— yes. and.. no.“ he said softly, the latter expressed in sorrow and his shoulders slouched low. “i woke up at the rooftop of the hospital one day because of this soft blanket hugging my back, they were my wings. i knew i wasn’t alive anymore. so when i came to accept it days after, i wanted to try out flying around the city and jumped off the hospital grounds and i fell instead of flying.”
“pfft! what you get from trying out something you ain’t familiar with, fallen angel.” you covered your mouth in realisation but jaehyun wasn’t agreeing with your assumption. “literally you are?”
“i’m not that type of angel. maybe i have some unfinished business, i don’t know. but i’d like to think i’m an angel!”
you hummed, convinced enough at this event. “ah maybe because you left your keychain? that’s counted as unfinished.”
another strong flick numbed your forehead. “no? we can’t bring stuff to heaven.” he gurgled at your innocence. “you’re going to help me find the solution to gain my earthly memories and my unfinished business so i can go to the other side.” jaehyun held your hands, the grip strong yet soft all at the same time.
“why me?” you exchanged looks from him and the view outside. “i’m no expert in this field.”
jaehyun’s eyes twinkled; not in awe but in desperation. “you are the only person who can help me. i can’t rely on children because.. they’re children and they’re so young.”
well that’s common sense, y/n.
“i’ll help.” not knowing why you agreed, but your heart just ache for this beautiful man. he couldn’t remember how he passed, he seemed desperate too, and needed someone to talk to. maybe you could fill in that role before the time came for him.
“thank you!” he had his fists clenched, twirling around as he yelled out the window. “i haven’t gotten your name yet.” his hands fell faintly onto yours, almost a tingly feeling.
“y/n.” you took his hand for a shake, holding onto it dearly. “i’m y/n, nice to meet yo-”
suddenly, his lips kissed the area where he flicked you. “well my dear y/n..” he smiled. “..consider this contract signed. there are conditions, but we can discuss that later.”
life in the hospital starting today wouldn’t be too boring. he stood beside the bed with the most starstriking smile you’ve ever seen, celebrating his awaited desire. you befriended jaehyun and he wasn’t a patient or part of the medical staff. he looked at you with bliss; the sun illuminated from behind him and that really confirmed it..
no, he wasn’t a ghost. he was indeed a spirit.
or angel. he’ll probably prefer that way.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
your brother became more protective than he usually was. straight to the hospital for you was added to his tight schedule and even then he was able to find time to care for you despite that. if you were to talk about the best big brother in the world, he was definitely the first place even in another life.
“guess who’s here.” taeyong cooed and pulled the curtains as he entered your area in the i.c.u. he found it strange when you didn’t greet him with your handshake nor a smile.
he sighed quite heavily at the bowl prepared for you, it turned cold and he placed his bags on the chair beside you. “hey kiddo, you have to eat something, yea?” he brushed your strands away to see your welling eyes looking at the distance outside. the window was the only thing separating you and the world.
most of all, your social life.
taeyong looked back to the day at campus two years ago; he remembered how he rushed to the university clinic after his lecture, stumbling as his legs gave in seeing you with the same pained expression. he should be used to the sight, but each time you end up in a place he never wanted you to be in, it was like seeing it for the first time.
he also remembered how his eyes trailed to your arms that rubbed your mid back. the nurses calming you with words of encouragement that you’d be fine. you didn’t like how you caused him so much worry, maybe one more push he’d be exploding into flames because you weren’t getting any better.. or probably he’d lose some hair because of the stress.
“i.. don’t want to eat.” you weakly pushed the tray on the mini table above your thighs. “i’m sick of this place and i’m sick of being sick. i just wanna go home.”
he knew that certain voice you have which made his heart sunk, but he knew you too well that you missed his cooking. “i know, but it’s short-lived, your condition is curable and you staying here is temporary.”
uh-huh.. that word again.
“and i made you these.” the cushion of the bed lowered due to his weight, making you shift to him. “fried corndogs. added a little twist to it with johnny’s help with the sauce. eat it before nurse jisoo arrives.”
at the corners of your eyes, jaehyun’s lips puckered at the sight of food. this caused you to save a box for him. you gave him a wink and set that aside. you could feel his figure arching to sit next to you as he began eating his share.
“you’re more afraid of her than i am.” you teased taeyong, finally smiling. “get her number already or else i’ll tell her how you’ve been crushing on her since forever.”
“forever’s an exaggeration, sis.” taeyong picked the stick and handed it to you. “it’s only been three months.”
“and three months means your cowardice is really preventing you from doing that.” the crunch from the dish made him tickle you in all vulnerable places and you rolled your eyes remembering the warning of your body’s strength exertion.
jaehyun nodded in agreement, licking the mustard that stained his fingers. “yeah, that’s a coward right there. can i give him lessons?” he stated, and you nearly choked in giggles.
taeyong then checked his watch, pecking you a kiss which got you forming questions at the back of your head. “oh the time.”
you gently placed the devoured stick into the box and dove in other sticks for seconds— or thirds. “you’re leaving? you just got here.”
he gave a wink and tugged the curtains. “not yet. i’m doing what you suggested me to do.” he gestured his palms, indicating that he would attempt to actually get her number. “she’s gonna be off duty in five. later honey.”
focused on the meal, you waved at him as you continued eating. jaehyun scooted closer to you. both enjoyed the meal and he hummed a song; something he would do when his palate craved food from the world. “i still find it unbelievable that taeyong couldn’t see me.” he giggled while the crisp sound of the batter synchronised with yours.
“you mean how you’re finally able to eat actual food each time he comes here.” your voice almost bursting into laughs of mockery, but held them in since jaehyun has been helping you as well. he nudged you gently and ever so sweetly, a toast cheer from your meals.
“yeah, but it’s because we have connection y/n, i’m able to eat solid food. so thank you.”
being locked in an all white room prevented you from going outside, that was fine since jaehyun was there with you, you wouldn’t be that bored. the pact you created with him was so simple that you could memorise it in a second. his requests were you both would be together everyday, cater to each other’s needs, eat and watch some series he missed out or discontinued.
and in the three months being with him, days were getting better. he actually knocked down the walls of your thoughts of hopelessness, encouraged you during your sad hours and hyped you up when you have some rehabilitation sessions. medical staffs were shocked that for someone whose condition was clearly on the verge, the will to live was written all over you.
jaehyun appreciated the ideas you’ve given him; memories or events that he might’ve forgotten, or any category he used to love like sports / music. he mentioned he knew how his family looked like, but not their names nor his home address. so he couldn’t visit them. though there was little progress and countless of bickers regarding the matter, you both were getting somewhere on each ends. and in the midst of it, you had each other as support.
“does your family or ancestors have some kind of gift?” he sunk down with you at the inclined bed rest. “while taeyong might not have it, you do?”
“maybe, but i’m not sure. we don’t talk about these things.. of the unknown, ghosts and spirits and-” your jaw dropped when he bit the remaining half of the corn dog from the stick you held. “jaehyun!”
“how many times do i have to tell you i’m a guardian angel?” he immediately rebutted your clumsy referral while chewing deliciously. “specifically yours, so don’t deny my role for you.”
your heart skipped beats. the claim he just did was heartwarming, and it was the first he said anything nice since your introductions months prior. “w-who said you’re my a-angel?” you batted your lashes.
jaehyun pointed at himself and disappeared to somewhere you do not know where he’d go considering he wasn’t familiar within the city. at night it was always like this, at 8pm sharp, he’d leave without saying goodbye, leaving you alone. then he would return the next day, greeting you with the same smile. maybe being an angel had its curfew too?
but as the sun rose the following morning and the colours merged into the prettiest pair the city ever witnessed, jaehyun anticipated the minute he sees your eyes slowly opening then adjusting to the light of the day. your calm beauty had him awestruck. he never felt this way before, more so, it was the first since he became a spirit.
come on come on come on, he stared at the hand of the clock, just one more second—
“hey.” he froze once he heard you and hesitated to turn around. “this is a new look on you.”
jaehyun shyly did so anyway, ears red that his planned surprise for you ended up failing. “do you like it?”
the long hums of your morning voice was more nerve-wrecking than waiting for the time to reach its end. “like? i love it! you look fresh!” you complemented him in all honesty.
until today, he wore the same denim pj’s and lets not question whether he does change. what struck you was that he wore a simple white tshirt with denim jeans, pairing them with a brown suede ankle boots. that wasn’t the key point of his fashion today.
rather, he topped his attire with costumed angel set; a halo and wings. when a proud smirk appeared, it got to you that he was really handsome. “sweet. oh i got you breakfast.” he tossed two sandwiches, carefully wrapped yet your nose could smell its delish filling.
“thanks.” you accepted them. “i didn’t know angels have their allowances.”
“we don’t. i used your cash.” jaehyun said, playing with the change coins. he flinched for cover, your hands in attempt to hit him.
you pinched his cheeks with the support of his hollowed dimples. “i told you to tell me if you’re going shopping with my money! is the costume included too?”
“i was supposed to but it seemed like you were having a nice dream!” he poked your forehead and there was no chance to fight back because for one, it was part of the contract. “and i’m sure it’s a nice one..” he trailed off, pointing at the small drools on your pillow.
his dimples started to show and you couldn’t resist its existence. “be thankful you’re really cute. anyway, did you ask children to do it for you again?”
jaehyun scratched the nape of his neck. “yes, and i treated them in return. who are you texting?” he hovered over you.
your lips straightened to a flat line. “i’m talking with jinho. he said he’s coming but you know men, they sometimes break promises. he’s probably not going to come again today.”
jaehyun didn’t know why his heart squeezed, if it was for how you were treated unfairly or if it was just him. he wasn’t in the position to feel this way towards you. yet because it was you— someone he spent three months with— he thought maybe it was normal to have such feelings. he visits you every single day, cared for you, be with you when your boyfriend not once ever did.
the thing was, did he have the right to keep these unexplainable bubbles of emotions in his gut? it wasn’t like you belonged with him anyway. just why did jaehyun hate it when your lips utter jinho’s name when he never acted like your beloved?
“why are you still with him when he doesn’t show affection for you?” jaehyun pat your head in comfort.
“maybe because i love him.” you typed on the screen to message him, yet stopped a while when he said those words. he was right, if jinho truly loved you, he’d be here already. so you stayed silent instead and divert the conversation. “oh this can help your memory! about love! did you perhaps have a girl-”
*zing!* sharp stings pierced and came to jaehyun’s temples like arrows.
he held the pain in as he didn’t want to worry you. “i’m gonna head out for a bit, y’know fresh air.” he swallowed his own saliva, hoping you didn’t hear it. he didn’t mean to be rude and disappear at you like that. his chest squeezed again at the thought of you with someone else.
he didn’t know what love felt like until now.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
it was unexpected.
jaehyun never imagined he would fall for you so soon, or ever thought of you nothing more than a friend who’d help him go to the other side. if he had to describe the relationship you both have, that’d merely be a boss-client kind of thing. yet he still knew that there was a connection despite him not being human anymore. there were frequent playful nudges and he waited half a year to be able to communicate with people. you were special.
special in a way that you treated him like he was alive again. you didn’t care about whether people would give you stares as your silhouette seemed like you were talking to yourself or someone they couldn’t see in the naked eye, or how nurse jisoo and taeyong would ask why you didn’t eat all of your meal only to save the other half for him. he was spoiled by you, where it was supposed to be the way around. sometimes he wondered if he was the right angel to look after you. in the end, it was him who initiated the contract and you complied without hesitations.
as if he were to watch a movie— except he wasn’t— pictures flashed before his vision, from a blurred quality to a clearer one. it was short, yet it was not enough to tell him what they were. maybe it was a memory, but he couldn’t put the scenes together.
he rubbed his eyes and felt the light gust of wind from children running through him with a ball in their hands.
then another fragment came to his sight, the sting of his temples ache like ones in the room. bright lights from the memory have blinded his eyes before it was replaced by the sun’s rays.
what the heck? he thought.
—
jaehyun kicked the stones that were separated from the cracked concrete ground. the way the stones rolled was identical to his churning stomach. he wondered how you were doing and later smiled to himself when he saw you waving at him from your window.
his palms were brought out to wave back except your lips didn’t utter his name. it was jinho, who happened to behind him; holding flowers.
of course.
he forgot about it for while; you have a boyfriend.
by this time he started to question if angels or spirits actually do have feelings; romantically. televisions never specified this fact. taeyong appeared in his field of view, who successfully asked jisoo out on a date. since when did hospitals served as a love spot? clearly his mood changed, but seeing you noticing him and waved at him, he decided to apologise for cutting you off earlier.
and he wished he shouldn’t have entered the i.c.u, from the door entrance the curtains were slid to the bedside. you were embraced in his arms, held onto dearly. he saw the tears rolling down your cheeks. a bouquet of flowers wrapped around your fingers. not wanting to intrude or ruin the moment, he turned around to give you space. it was your personal life after all.
he thought that maybe if he were alive, would things turn out differently if he met you? he would probably treated you better if ever.
jaehyun leaned against the door frame of the i.c.u. the human him would tell him he was definitely heartbroken witnessing that. he was supposed to be happy for you; you were improving mentally, recovering physically even if it was slow. your boyfriend finally visited you.
speaking of the said person, he felt jinho’s figure leaving the room, brushing past and through him. so he looked back at you, who was staring at him with a weak smile.
were you okay?
then tears brimmed at the edge of your eyes.
yeah, you definitely weren’t okay.
“y/n?” jaehyun called out and approached your bed, being the curtains to a close and sitting beside you afterwards. “what’s wrong? why did jinho leave so soon?” he pointed.
your face went pale and though ordinary people would know it was due to the illness, jaehyun knew it was about something else. he held your hands, pulling you gently for a hug. it was still funny if you think about it; how you could hug an angel physically. “we called quits. it was mutual though, don’t be too shocked.” you fixed your chin onto his shoulder and felt him tense at the revelation.
“why? you wanted him to come over and he did. you should be happy.” jaehyun stared into your swollen eyes, cupping your jaw to wipe the fallen tears away. “he gave you flowers, hugged you.. what’s lacking?”
“that wasn’t a normal hug.. it was a parting one. jinho told me he couldn’t take it.” you began, leaning more into his touch. “he doesn’t like that he’s incapable of helping me get through all this. seeing me suffering was too much for his heart.”
jaehyun’s fists balled and you could see them shaking. his eyes turned darker the more you explained. “so he was thinking of himself more than he thought of you?” his tone raised and you flinch at the volume. “where’s the mutual in that, y/n? you agreed to his selfishness even if you’re hurting so much?”
“it is mutual jae.” you sniffed, sitting up properly to expound further. “for the past three months i’ve been wanting him to come here because i wanted to break up with him. i wanted to tell him that he should get used to..” your voice trembling and jaehyun held you close. “..that he should get used to not having me around anymore. i fell out of love. so if there’s anyone who’s selfish, it’s me.”
“what.. are you saying?..” he asked softly. “it sounds like you’re giving up.” referring to your existence around the people you love. “are you giving everything up? all we did to improve your condition?”
a sob escaped your lips and you covered your face because you couldn’t look at him in the eye as you answer. you didn’t like to appear weak to him than you already were. “jaehyun, when you disappeared, the doctors came and said there was no kidney donor. it’s finalised. they’ve contacted local and overseas hospitals and none were of my match. i’m getting sicker each day and i really appreciate the motivation you’ve given me and there’s nothing left in my soul to fight any longer.”
“no no no no. please me tell me you’re not serious, y/n.” he begged. “tell me that you’re going to rethink about it and have the will to live. tell me that what we both signed up for will not go in vain. we worked hard together. we helped each other, we went through thick and thin. tell me that your decision is not permanent.”
“and what? you’re going to tell me my condition’s temporary too? if yes then you’re just like taeyong and nurse kim jisoo.” you laid back down and stared at the window.
jaehyun was about to speak when you started to sniff again. “everything that’s happening to me is always temporary.. nothing ever stays.. no one ever stays.. taeyong’s visits are limited, my personal nurse is always busy.. and what hurts me the most is that our time together is temporary too. soon enough you’ll go to the other side.. you’re only the friend i have now.”
“hey..” he cooed and now laying down beside you, wrapping you in his arms as you sunk more onto his chest. “..don’t say that. i-i’m still here.” even if he said that, jaehyun knew that that was false; that day would actually come, he just didn’t know when.
you turned to face him and hugged him tightly, sleep starting to get to your system. “when i met you, you became more of a boyfriend than jinho ever did.”
he caressed your back and you could feel the vibrations from his soft laughs. “look, i’m sure jinho did his best to be your boyfriend. and if i was your boyfriend.. well you’re talking about a guy who hasn’t gotten a single clue of who he is nor have his memories returned. my unfinished business is still a blank page. it may look temporary now but i guarantee you, i know you’ll have that new transplant, it’ll be-”
“that will never come.. i’m dying, jaehyun.”
jaehyun hummed in disagreement. he was fuming but he tried his best not to show it, that will contradict with his role of being your guardian angel. “tsk, say anything further i’m really gonna flick your forehead.”
you chuckled since it reminded you about the first day. “i mean, if i don’t make it, that would mean i get to be with you. it’s not temporary anymore, right?”
he bursted in scoffs of disbelief and you could tell he was playing around at the same time. “what? do you wanna be with me so much?” he questioned, flicking your forehead. “i wouldn’t mind having a side kick though.”
“i’m kidding, but truth to be told, you’re the best angel anyone could ask for.” you fixed the crooked halo headband for him. “no wonder children loves angels.”
“you’re acknowledging i’m an angel now, huh?” he messed your hair. “if children loves angels, what about you?”
*zing!* jaehyun shut his eyes closed. an unclear image of him locking his phone; its wallpaper of him and his parents.
tsk why am i feeling this again—
“i’ll say yes if that’s what you want to hear.” you challenged. jaehyun squinted his eyes open, to you it was pretty obvious it was what he wanted to hear.
jaehyun pinched your cheeks to awake you from reality, once again setting the memory aside. “we can’t date. i don’t want to be a rebound.” he stuck out his tongue, making you mirror the same. “you’re human, i’m an angel.”
“technically a ghost but i’ll take it as a self-proclaimed angel.” you shrugged, a curve appearing at the corners of your lips. “anyway, should we continue watching-”
the curtains separated which made you and jaehyun jolt in shock. “y/n!”
taeyong’s voice echoed the room, glad that most patients were asleep and he threw himself onto the bed. jaehyun got up, letting your brother hug you. “they were wrong!” he cried in tears of joy.
“they messed up your records. your condition was identical with another patient’s!”
you saw jaehyun giving him a look you think would pass as a meme. “what is he saying?” he asked.
“what are you saying?” you blinked several times at his shaking hands and hoarse hiccups.
“you have a donor!” he exclaimed.
jaehyun’s smile grew and as he walked towards you, he held your hands to squeeze them in congratulatory. “well, what did i say y/n? told you it’ll come.”
the pain on his temples faded it always did, but it was something he experienced quite often in the past days. he couldn’t figure what it was.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
almost everyone in the room observed how anxious you were, the fiddles of your fingers and the constant biting of your lips that they could bleed any moment now. you were moved to a new room and jaehyun poked your cheek to gain your attention and to snap out of your daydream. a satisfied grin plastered on his face when your eyes locked into his.
you thought maybe the heavens probably heard his words. last week, he did say the transplant would come, and it did. soon later, you would be having an operation; a new kidney to function. you waited for this for so long that just thinking about it, you’d probably cry again.
seeing jaehyun stare into the panorama of the city before him had your chest tightening. it wasn’t good nor bad..maybe you were just nervous that the reality of all this was actually happening. he was glowing compared to most days; and it’s not due to the sun adding extra illumination to his figure. it was like the first day, his greeting was awkward but it became something you’d never forget.
the medical staff left after briefing you, injecting anaesthesia so you could meet your slumber. taeyong messaged he would try to arrive as soon as he could, and you were assured by the time the operation’s done. now the room was silent, all you could hear was jaehyun’s shoes clicking on the marbled floor. his hands grabbing yours to comfort you.
“scared?” he asked with faint dimples trying to boast. you nodded. “you shouldn’t be. you’ve waited for this for so long. everything’s gonna turn out fine for you. and i’m here, guarding you as usual.”
you wrapped your arms around his neck, and he responded by holding your waist, sinking in deeper into the embrace. “i’m not scared now. i don’t know how different it’d be if i hadn’t met you- well, you introduced yourself first before i did, so..”
your eyelids suddenly began to drop, the drug soon kicking in. “y/n, when you come out of that room, only half of the contract’s completed. there’s still mine to go.” he said, laying you gently on the bed.
“i know. it’s just everything seems to happen so fast.” you admitted sadness, because that always was in your head since the news broke to you.
“do you have any questions before you sleep?” jaehyun propped his elbow onto the side table, fascinated how you were still trying to keep yourself awake just to converse with him. “about me. because who knows if you would remember me once you’re conscious again.”
“why would i forget my angel?” you giggled, eyes closing. “hm.. i was going to ask you this but you ditched me haha.”
“oops. sorry about that.” embarrassed, jaehyun rubbed his chin just recalling that day.
“i wanna know if you knew how love felt like. do you remember?”
*zing!* red lights circled around in a container orbit, its center rotating as if it was signalling.
jaehyun was stunned and out of words for a while. the same feeling came flushing to him as you both talked about love before. of course he knew what love was. you made him remember. love was like sailing on a boat at the open ocean before stumbling upon something so beautiful that you couldn’t take your eyes off of. “yeah i do. why?”
although you felt that you’re close to drifting to dreamland, an urge in you wanted to tell him why. “because you asked me if i ‘love’ you.”
*zing!* the clock striked 8. it doubled and tripled in vision, moving in a static way.
jaehyun felt dizzy and nauseous. please just stop..
holding the stinging pain in and ignoring it, he leaned closer. “do you now?” he asked, a sly smile creeping his mouth. “if you’re to ask me, i do love *zing* you.” he heard you manage to let out a giggle. “i love to enlighten you when you’re down. i love talking with you and stealing your food. basically just everything about you.”
“hm, same. like platonic love.” your hands find your hold his.
“mhm. platonic.. lo-” he paused due to the continuous throbbing, and gave you a little squeeze despite the hurt he had been feeling recently. hesaw how you didn’t reply, your breaths heaving softly and calmly. his smile broke out as this always happened whenever you held onto him.
what he couldn’t say out loud was that what he felt for you the entire time wasn’t a platonic love.
he really loves you like you’re his.
—
heavy pain awoke you from unconsciousness. you tried to open your eyes without letting the light blinding them. the first person you saw was taeyong and jisoo, their bodies almost covering your pan of view. your eyes craved to see jaehyun, your chest drummed fast when you couldn’t.
taeyong looked worried, brushing the strands from your face. “are you okay? do you feel any pain?” his palms caressed your face.
you didn’t answer, yet the tears wanting to fall have met its end. jisoo quickly left to find the surgeon and taeyong followed to fill in paperwork. where was jaehyun? why wasn’t he here with you? he always appear before you as soon as your eyes flutter open. you were so used to seeing his face and that you were assured he’d be there.
more than two hours have passed and jaehyun still hasn’t shown himself. so far into the day, you’ve eaten porridge, changed a new set of clothes, had a few conversations with taeyong and jisoo, and watched the series alone. even then you waited for him to come. now you were left alone briefly again. you tried to sit up or incline the bed.
“if you needed help, call my name. did you forget me already?” jaehyun’s body assisted yours by acting as a support. “you shouldn’t move too much, y/n.”
jaehyun felt his torso like he was hugged by a koala. “i thought you’re gone. i didn’t see you when i woke up..” your voice soft and hoarse.
“i was here the whole time, behind jisoo and taeyong.” he said, puzzled by how late you noticed him.
“stay with me for a while.” you requested, and he followed. “i love how you’re always here.”
again, sharp stings hit his temples. fragments of past memories came flushing to him. they were still monotone, but this time they were clear enough to see what they were trying to portray. was it how he passed? there were people pumping his chest, people holding his hands dearly.
even without seeing his face, you could feel jaehyun was uncomfortable. he didn’t know why the pain was frequent. “is something bothering you, jaehyun?” you pulled away, and you were shocked to see him switching from solid to translucent; like he was flickering. “hey, why are you-” you reached out for him, but your hands failed to hold his. they passed through him like he was gas. you couldn’t feel him anymore.
“y/n..” jaehyun gave a painful look, something you’ve never seen before. “i think i’m fading.”
you arched your brows and lips parted at that certain sentence you thought you’d hear in the far future. “why? our contract is not done yet.” you replied, still attempting to at least touch him again. “we have yet to find your unfinished business.”
jaehyun knew what this meant. he knew what was happening. he felt stupid for not telling you sooner. “maybe it’s already revealed, i just haven’t acknowledged it.” he saw his limbs flickering then fading, taking turns of the two. he was worried, but he somehow felt safe.
it was hard to understand what he was trying to say. each word that came out of his lips were shooting your heart like daggers. you clenched your clothes by the buttons of your pajamas, tears forming then falling. “w-what do you mean? are you leave-” you quivered though you didn’t want to show it. “how long have you known?..” the reality of it now seeping into you.
“i’ve known and realised it for a week now.” he said, forcing his lips to smile, to appear unaffected. “whenever the word ‘love’-” he groaned at the pain again, bending down slowly. “..’love’ is mentioned, i feel this rush of mixed pain and happiness. i think it’s related to what i have left here on earth.”
“i knew you were acting strange, but i thought it was nothing because you’d looked fine.” you asked, trying to get off the bed to go to him. you wanted him to explain further because none of what he said was processing in your brain right now. “you seemed fine..”
“the reason why you could see me was because you’re the person who will make me remember what love is.” he held your face, and all you felt was a tingling feeling from his touch. “when i was alive.. i was a stubborn boy who only cared about himself. i never had a relationship, never appreciated the love my parents given me.”
“if you remember all this.. did your memory show you how you.. died?” you looked at him and he gave a smile, almost a parting one.
“yeah.. it was the first hint.. i was late for my basketball championship match. i was texting my parents to come to the game while crossing the street.” jaehyun chuckled, a bitter one and people could tell if they actually heard him. “i saw i was rushed to the ambulance, the sirens alerting everyone.. i was wheeled into the e.r.. i guess you know what happened next.”
then he broke down, arms bringing to his face. “..i couldn’t tell mom and dad i love them..” jaehyun weakly came forward, pulling you into his embrace. it was confusing that he could touch you, but you couldn’t. no matter how much you wanted to give him comfort like he use to do with you. he held onto you, as if he didn’t want to let you go.
“why didn’t you tell me what you’ve been feeling? why tell me now, jaehyun?” you tried to cup his face but to no avail they still went through it. you’re practically begging him to give you reasons why he had to hide it from you.
the shakiness his pupils did have shown he was scared. “i didn’t want you to feel sad about me. that’ll only destroy the joy from the news you received.”
your palms dropped to your thighs, breaths hitching and let out uncontrollable muted gasps. “i am sad now! i’m sad that you’re leaving me-”
his touch calmed you. “i never really got to say this because all we ever did was to support each other but.. i really, deeply, from the bottom of my heart.. thank you, y/n. you taught me how to love again, in the little things and..”
“jaehyun..” you sighed heavily and eventually cried with him, heart tugging your strings until they snapped.
“..and maybe that’s my unfinished business.” his smile was definitely forced.
and you did the same. “i’m glad i was able to help.. i’m glad you’re able to find what love is. but if you could love a person again, i’m sure they’re very lucky.”
hearing him let out hurtful laugh and sniffs became often as you told those words. “you are lucky you’re loved by an angel. i told you i love you, right?” his arms went through your body, then his entire body moved back like he was magnetised to something he waited for.
it was time.
you felt the same kiss on the forehead for the final time.
he saw how you wailed, craving for his embrace, like a child looking for a mother’s touch. what ached him was that you couldn’t see him anymore. the cries became louder, taeyong ran to you, thinking you were still hurt from the operation. he was an angel, he should be strong for you but all he felt was
hurt.
he shouldn’t have left your side at night. he should’ve stuck with you like glue. he wanted to spend longer time with you.
what hurt him the most was he should’ve known that three months was temporary.
your eyes caught sight of the man you stayed with you. because of him, you got to find out a lot about yourself when you were vulnerable, things that had to be dug deep in order to find that hidden gem. in the past minute you couldn’t see him. but now he was floating in the air, glowing more than usual. you smiled painfully because he still wore that stupid halo and wings, and the letters you’ve written that you hoped he wouldn’t see but he actually did.
taeyong and jisoo’s words of comfort did nothing on you, as you saw your angel jaehyun drifting further away from you. you reached out for him and he did so too and,
he smiled for the final time, tears visible and they rolled down his cheeks. “i love you, y/n. so so much.”
you cried harder and clenched onto taeyong, not caring whether it hurt him or not. your brother gave a confused look, shocked to see how much your frail body exert such sorrow.
“me too.” you wanted to tell him, yet it wasn’t close to a whisper.
you hate this.
you hate that the only person you’ve just grown to love departed from the tip of your wavering fingers.
you hate the word temporary.

_Distasteful Pursuit_
Kuroo x OC Fanfiction
Plot:
Hikeji Yuna got rejected by the Team Captain of Nekoma Volleyball Club, Kuroo Tetsuro. But Yuna still tries to support him despite the annoyed look he's giving to her. What will happen when she suddenly becomes the team's manager?
Chapter 2
“What? Volleyball’s team manager? Yuna, are you crazy?” Like what you expect, Ayane is already on her beast mode as you two go home.
“Yes. I can’t decline it, Ayane.” you tried to explain.
“Then just be direct, tell them that the volleyball team captain doesn’t like you!” she said.
“But that would look like, I told them Kuroo-san rejected me, right?” you felt so nervous thinking about what will happen tomorrow.
It makes you imagine things like, for sure the team won’t like you as their manager.
“Well, forget what I say. I mean be direct by telling them you’re busy, way busy that you can’t attend practice at all.” Ayane continues to think of a tough excuse.
“But, Nekomata-sensei asked me personally, I can’t say no.”
Ayane’s heavy sighed can echo the whole street right now.
She stops walking, so do you. Ayane taps your shoulders.
“This “ you” will never change. You can’t always accept any request from people, especially if it’s not good for your emotion. Kuroo-san clearly said that he doesn’t want to see you, and now you will be the club’s manager. You know how the manager and captain will have to work together as a team, right? Now, what will happen? I’m just afraid that you’ll be hurt again. You’ve been hurt a lot Yuna. You don't deserve any of it.”
You almost want to cry right now. You know well she’s right. And you’re very thankful for that.
Ayane clearly wants you to be careful and guard your heart.
She witnessed how wrecked you are after the confession and how people started bullying you.
You know she’s really worried about your well-being.
“Thank you Ayane, I’ll be careful. Don’t worry.” you smiled at her, showing how you’re confident about your decision.
“Yuna, just promise me one thing,” she said.
“What is it?” you asked.
“That, once you feel unwanted and you don’t want to stay there, you will go. Without thinking. Okay? Then we can explain to Nekomata-sensei why you will quit.” she sternly asked me.
You smiled at her and nodded.
Ayane then smiled bitterly. And you know she’s not really fine about it after all.
She just surrenders to whatever your decision is, and hope you’re not doing the wrong thing.
So the next day came so fast.
You are awkwardly standing at the door of the volleyball gymnasium, wearing your P.E uniform and your hair is in a bun so your eyes are pretty well shown.
Some first-years are looking at you and whispering at each other.
Why is she here?
She didn’t stop following Kuroo-senpai?
Didn’t he reject her?
You almost decided to turn your feet away but remember how Nekomata-sensei asked you for a favor.
This reason holds you back.
“Yuna-san, I’m glad you came.” the older coach gently smiled at you.
“Nekomata-sensei, Naoi-sensei.”
“Relax for this afternoon Hikeji-san, and just watch the team on their practice. We will introduce you to them, but for sure the third years know you already.” Coach Naoi said to her.
You swallowed hard, knowing who those third years are.
Your heart won’t calm as you enter the gymnasium.
All eyes are on you as you stand behind the two coaches as they explain what is happening.
“From now on, Hikeji Yuna-san will be your acting manager. She will help us prepare for the upcoming training camp and of course some of the manager's jobs. Yaku-kun, please teach her everything she needs to do.” Coach Naoi said to the team.
You tried to not look them in the eyes and want to at least hide from the coaches at the back.
Not until, “Hikeji-san, greet your team now. Come here.” he’s asking you to come up front and greet them.
You didn’t have a choice, despite your wobbly feet, you have to walk 3 steps forward to greet them.
“H-hello, n-nice to meet you.” you bow a little bit as your greeting to them.
Some weak greetings from the team can be heard.
“Wow, guys where’s the energy?” Coach Naoi said.
You silently step back as the meeting continues.
You know that you are already unwelcome, not wanted.
You also can’t deny the sharp look, Kuroo giving at you. It makes you feel uneasy.
The whole afternoon is very awkward for you. You stand behind the scoring board and carefully watch the team on their practice match.
You can’t help but admire the team’s flexibility and solid receives. This is not your first time watching them play, but you find them admirable inside the court.
You even watch how Kuroo manages to block the spiker’s hit several times in this game.
You’re very much dazed.
“Hey, acting manager , that’s our point! What are you day-dreaming about?!” someone even emphasized the words acting manager and that brought you back to your reality.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” you flip the score.
You can hear a faintly Tsk from somewhere, and you don’t dare to look where it came from because you know who it is.
Several stray balls from the other years are sometimes successfully hitting you on your shoulders. So you step further away from the court and decide to refill their water bottle at the back of the gym.
You sighed heavily as you started to refill the water. You haven’t done anything but you felt tired already. The truth is, you don’t know how to interact with lots of people in your surroundings. The gym is full of boys and you know that your presence is making them uneasy.
So going out of the gym might help them to relax a bit.
“What are you even doing here?”
Suddenly Kuroo is standing behind you.
You looked at the tall guy who is towering over you.
“I-I’m refilling the water. Do you want-?”
“I know, I’m not an idiot. But why did you decide to be the manager? Did you specifically ask Nekomata-sensei for this? When will you stop?”
Your heart started to tighten. Kuroo is accusing you of something you didn’t even do.
“N-no, I didn't! They asked me to-”
“Enough! Stop it! Even if they asked you, you should have just declined it. You’re making me more irritated with you.” Kuroo walks away.
Leaving you once again questioning yourself if your decision is right.
You hold tight the water bottle because you feel so hurt and about to cry.
It’s like it’s piercing your heart bit by bit. And you can’t comprehend what you’re feeling right now. And your eyes are almost teary.
Then someone grabs a bottle you’re holding.
“K-Kozume-san!”
You almost jump out seeing Kenma.
“I’m sorry Hikeji-senpai, but I’m a bit thirsty. I’m sorry for grabbing it so suddenly.”
You smiled, secretly thanking Kenma for arriving at the very right moment and you instantly forgot the need for crying.
Kenma on the other hand is shocked seeing you genuinely smiling at him.
Making him blushed a little.
“I-it’s okay, Kozume-san.”
“Hmn.” Kenma walks back to the gym.
You just smiled and thought that it was your first time talking to Kenma and he knows your name. Probably he knows you too, because of Kuroo.
That might be the first time you smiled the whole afternoon.
And you continue to refill the water bottles.
Days passed.
Despite what Kuroo told you before, you continue to be the team’s manager.
You don’t have any problem when the coaches are present, the members follow you as their manager and senpai for the lower year, but as the coaches leave they will return to how they treat you.
They ignored you totally like you didn’t exist.
“Hey, did you have the scores yesterday? I need it.” Kuroo approached you suddenly.
“I-I got it. Here.” you give him the score notebook.
After getting it from you, he carelessly opens it and on his other hand is another score notebook.
You saw how his eyes went from your notes to the other one he’s holding. He’s comparing your scores to that one.
“K-kuroo-san, do you happen to doubt my scores?” you felt offended by how he openly not trusting you about this stuff. You felt a bit weird asking him.
“Obviously I wanted to be sure you know what you are doing.”
He gives the scores back to you and walks away without waiting for you to answer back.
You followed him and you saw how he gave the notebook to Yaku. Yaku is clearly annoyed for whatever reason.
On the other side.
Yaku is already annoyed.
“Kuroo, you don’t have to do that. She knows what she’s doing. Did you forget, he helped me before and I can say she’s a dependable kind of person. Why do you keep insisting she’s incapable of being our manager?”
“Because I know she’s only here to make my world miserable!” Kuroo irritatingly said.
“Wow, how confident! Look at you, you thinking her world only revolves around you? I can’t believe I’m hearing this!” Yaku walks away from Kuroo.
Kuroo annoyingly throws his towel on the floor.
Trying to understand his own feelings.
Meanwhile, after the practice that day.
Some 2nd year whispering to each other while they are mopping the gym’s floor.
“Let’s ask Hikeji-senpai to do this for us.”
“Yeah, sure. I heard she can’t decline any request.”
They keep on laughing about their idea.
Like you always do, you help to tidy things up inside the gym. You silently move without talking to anyone. Well, they don’t really talk to you.
Every meeting, you awkwardly stand behind the coaches and carefully take notes of what did the team talk about.
As much as possible you don’t want to have any chances to talk to Kuroo, since he’s not very much welcoming.
Having feelings and being rejected by the same person who keeps on denying your existence is not really an easy feeling.
You don’t like it at all.
You remember what Ayane told you, that if you don’t like it here, you should quit.
But you find yourself glued to the volleyball gym. Your love for volleyball doesn’t waver. Seeing the Nekoma team makes your heart race when they are at the match. Admiring every move and attack they show.
Since you gotta stay until the training camp, you decided that you can bear it a bit longer.
“Hikeji-senpai,” a kouhai called you.
Actually, you are quite surprised when someone from the team approaches you. And you can’t help but feel happy about it.
You smiled at them, almost making them hesitant to talk to you.
(a/n: Well of course you are pretty to begin with.)
“What is it?” you nervously asked them. Still worried they might find you weird asking them.
“S-senpai, we need to go home early for our project, and we can’t finish mopping the floor.”
You know well what they wanted you to do. But being happy because they approach you to ask for help, you know you can’t refuse them.
You automatically get the mop from their hands. “Okay, leave the cleaning to me.”
You don’t care if you will mop the whole gym, you’re happy about making progress with them. You can finally talk to them.
You look around seeing fewer people who take the net and the balls to the stockroom, and you start mopping the floor.
Until you notice that you are now alone in the gym. No one is left behind.
You sighed heavily because you have to finish it alone, and the gym is not even that small.
While the third year passed by the gym.
“I really hate that career meeting, I told them I’ll pursue volleyball.” Yaku said annoyingly.
“Why is the gym still open? Did they forget to close it?” Kai, who usually closes the gym, asked them.
Yaku, Kuroo, and Kenma are walking together.
“Tsk. I’ll definitely scold them tomorrow!” Kuroo angrily walks towards the gym.
Yaku and Kai only shrug their shoulders and laugh a little about his reaction.
Then Kuroo suddenly stops at the door.
“What is it? Did you see a ghost or something?” Yaku said to him.
Kuroo didn’t answer, so they just looked inside.
Then they saw you, still mopping the floor of the gym.
“What? Why is she mopping the floor? Did the first year just let her do that?” Kai said.
“She won’t be done in no time. Let’s help her.” Yaku suggested.
“Nah, forget it. Let her do it.” Kuroo walks out of the gym.
Kenma just sighed.
Then they follow him as he walks away.
“Are you serious? That is so personal Kuroo!” Yaku is still trying to dig a hole in Kuroo.
“She wanted to do it, just let her!” Kuroo shouts at him and he walks away.
“What’s his problem? What do you think?” Kai said.
“Argh!!! I just hate this drama between the two of them. I’m going home!” Yaku stomped away.
Kai shrugs and follows Yaku.
“Yuna, let’s go home.” Ayane peaks at the door of the volleyball gymnasium.
“Oh, Ayane, I guess I’ll finish this first, you go on ahead.” You answered as you continue to mop the floor.
“Wait, what? You mean, you’ll mop the whole gym? Are you crazy?” Ayane is already walking towards you.
You stop moping and you look at her.
“W-well, I need to do this before closing the gym so,”
“You don’t have to! It needs at least 3 people to finish it all. Did they ask you to do this? Where is the jerk Kuroo Tetsurou?!”
“Eh? A-ayane! Shhhhh!” You tried to cover her mouth while she tried to shout inside the gymnasium.
“Yuna, we will go home, whether you like it or not! Just leave it! Come on!”
Ayane tried to drag you out of the gym.
“Ayane, l-let me at least take care of this. Okay?”
Ayane let you go.
“Well then, I’ll help you. So we can go home!”
You laugh at her. But you’re also thankful because you’re already tired of mopping the whole gym.
The training camp will be 3 days from now. Will you survive as their manager for the week?
