Part 1
Masterlist
Ao3
Now, onboard Gawtin’s ship, reader is both terrified and angry that this thing took them. Reader tries to fight their way off the ship but Gawtin easily overpowers them and pins them to a wall. So, they tried to escape by wedging the door open or smashing the keypad. They get electrocuted by accident. When Gawtin tries to feed them, that doesn’t work. Reader refuses to eat even when Gawtin uses her presence to scare them.
Despite the pounding of your fists against the creature’s sturdy back, it did nothing to make her even flinch. She continued to strut through the forest you were once enjoying. Your screams rung through the trees. Your friends lost between the trunks and foliage. Tears slowly ran down your cheeks. The world taking a darker turn as you’re carried away from them.
In this position, you spotted a weapon hanging from her waist. A machete. You instantly reached for it and attempted to pull it off of its fixed position. A hand engulfed yours before you could make contact with it. It held a firm grasp but not enough force to crack any bones. You struggled again. Your hand couldn’t be retrieved.
Her feet stopped. Your body slid down her front and landed unsteadily on your feet in front of her. The large alien snatched both of your wrists and crowded into your space. Instinctively, you took steps backwards to get away from her. Until the curve of your spine met the rough texture of a tree trunk. A gasp sounded from your throat.
Each of your wrists were lifted high above your head and pinned to the bark. They were easily held in one of her hands. A snort sounded from the creature. “You… do not think,” she uttered. Her free hand pinched something out of a pouch on her side. Rope was held between two fingers. She brings it up to your wrists. Your brows jerked up towards your hairline. You doubled down the fight and tried to slip out by taking off the weight on your legs. That only pulls painfully on your shoulders. The creature still has a firm grip on you.
Talently, the alien is able to tie your wrists together with one hand. Then, she throws you back onto her shoulder like you weighed nothing to her. With her size, you believed that as a fact.
The journey began once more. She carried you through the forest. The speed she took only made the trip short but sweet. Her form stopped. Her arm holding onto your thigh lets go for a moment. You hear a beep then a hiss. Curiosity got the best of you. You tried to lift yourself up to peer over her shoulder. She makes a short but warning growl. Your survival instincts force you to lay back down against her back, limp.
All you had to do was play along and hope for survival.
A new scene greeted you. She had walked up some sort of ramp and entered… something out of this world. Alien. This was a ship. A spacecraft. The angle hurt your neck but you took in everything you saw. From what looked to be storage all the way to main area of the vessel. She passed a door before one opened up for her.
Muted colors made up the interior of the ship. In the room she took you into, skulls were the first thing that greeted you. A terrified scream pierced the air. The fight entered your veins again. You kneed and punched and even bit to get her to let go you. It didn’t matter if your hands were tied together. You fought for your survival.
Snarls erupted from the creatures throat. Your body was harshly tugged off of her shoulder and dropped onto the floor. Your knees gave out. You were forced to lay back while peering up at her. Her metal mask made it impossible to see her expressions. The muscles that lined her shoulders and chest were tense. You whimpered and scrambled backwards, legs kicking to get away from her.
“Stop,” her rough voice demanded. The green creature ate up the space you desperately put between the two of you. Her hand grasped at the limited space between your own tied up ones and pulled you closer to her. You kicked at her shins.
A sharp huff escaped her. “Stop. I will not harm you.” You could see the blurred reflection of yourself staring back at you. Your head rapidly shook no.
“Let go of me!” you yelled at her and tugged harder. The rope painfully dug into your wrists. Yet, it didn’t budge. “Please, don’t kill me.” Her words had gone flying over your head. You were in such a state of panic, you weren’t listening. Your ears had blocked out all other sounds besides the race of your heart. Survival to see another day.
The grip on the bindings didn’t loosen or falter for even a second; despite your constant kicking. She held strong in her stance. Her other hand came around and grabbed you by the throat. It easily encircled one of the most fragile parts of your body. You instantly froze, paralyzed to the spot. One wrong move and she could snap your neck like a twig.
“Now, listen. I will not harm you. You are my pet now.” You accidently yelled out a ‘what?!’ which caused her to squeeze your neck in a threatening manner. A whimper fell from your lips. “No harm shall come to you under my care. You will be cared for, fed, clothed.” You fearfully looked into her purple eyes that kept you froze to the ground.
“W-why?!” you sputtered out and fought back the tears desperate to dribble down your face.
Her thumb on your neck caressed along the artery hidden between skin. “I have watched you for some time, little one. You intrigue me.” Heat blotted your features. How long has she been watching you?! Oh god. You’ve not felt eyes on you in what was thought to be the safety of your home. “I have made you mine, under my kinds law. I lay claim to you as my pet.”
Every time she called you ‘pet’ made your stomach twist with a sick feeling. Out of all the things to happen to you in your life. To be made a pet to an alien wasn’t plausible in your mind.
Yet, the new situation that surrounded you was evident of your new issues. You swallowed hard, chest stuttering with each intake of air. Your ribs felt like they were constricting your lungs, squeezing out the air in them.
The corners of your vision began to darken. Each new breath was faster than the last. Your eyes glazed over. Her grip around your neck loosened to the point you could almost just drop down the floor. That didn’t help ease up the issue you were causing to yourself.
Both of your hands went to the center of your chest, feeling them move underneath your fingertips. You tried to slow down your breathing. The danger no longer as high of a threat now. But, your body didn’t feel that way. The panic kept building and building. Until darkness overtook your sight and left you limp in the creature’s hold.
When you awoke next, you sat up with a gasp, hands flying to your throat in terror. Nothing held you in place. Your body acted before your mind had a chance to think. All of your limbs forced you to back peddle until you smacked into a hard, flat object. The wall. You pressed yourself against it, limiting the places something or someone could come and attack you.
Your hands gripped at your unkept hair. Whatever dream – or nightmare – that had controlled you during your sleep caused it. You swiftly swivel your head back and forth. The room was empty, bare from anyone or anything. All besides the three skulls on top of the door frame across from you.
One of them was a human skull.
Instantly, your chest began to heave. She was going to turn you into that. Every word from before had flew straight over your head. Actions speak louder than words. And if by the looks of the other skulls that decorated the… bedroom, she’s lying to you. You were no pet, nothing more than another trophy on the wall. These were all trophies.
Wait! Her bedroom?! You finally took in the space and its contents. Currently, you had been placed on top of what looked and felt like a bed. Furs covered it. All from different looking creatures she’s probably killed herself. And that was going to be you next. You shuddered and hugged yourself, slightly rocking yourself in a pacifying manner. It did little to quell the quaking of your lungs or the stuttering of your heart.
One wall had an open doorway that seemed to lead into a bathroom. You were unsure in the darkness that nearly consumed the whole space. Only a low light came from the running boards that lined the walls. It was just bright enough to barely make out the skulls and other animal bones that decorated the bedroom. All of them signs of what will happen to you next.
Light flashed bright. It temporarily blinded you. A yelp echoed back at you. Your face scrunched up, eyes unable to accommodate the sudden light so quickly. But the click of talons on metal had a shiver running down your spine, rattling your bones. You tried to fight off the pain to find her.
A warm hand cupped your chin and tilted your head up. The touch had your heartrate spiking even higher than before. Your hands shot out and smacked against a firm, muscular arm that didn’t yield to your attacks. She didn’t even make a single sound of distress and simply held you in place. It was evident that her strength greatly outweighs your own. In multiple ways she’s shown you.
“Calm down, little one,” she grumbled and pinched your chin only slightly harder to gain your attention. You whimpered. Finally, your eyes worked with you to open and find the giant alien leaning over the side of the bed. One of her hands was holding up her weight while the other held your jaw. Your gaze flickered down to the arm on the bed, knowing there was a chance you could kick it out. That may drop her to the bed. Then what? She’ll easily roll over, sit up, and tear your head off of your shoulders for doing such a thing.
“I have told you, you are not in harms way. There is no reason to panic.” Her voice was a rumble, deep. A tone you weren’t use to when it came to feminine figures. Nor did she fit the standards for humans. The only thing you could notice was a slight pronunciation of her chest and wider hips. Besides that, the thickly corded muscles that lined her figure, deep voice, and aggressiveness made you think of her otherwise. That only made you wonder what the male looked on her side of the species.
Your eyes completely stopped hurting from the light and opened all the way. Shyly, you had tucked your head to the side. Not once did you take your eyes off of her. If you were going down, you were going to take every chance to survive. No matter what.
The alien chuffed then released your chin and straightened her posture. She reached towards the end of the bed and push a tray towards you. “Food. Eat. You will need your strength.”
That through you in for a loop. Why in the world would you need your strength if she was going to turn you into one of her trophies? Your gaze narrowed on her, questioning on her intent. What was her point? What was she doing?
“I’m not hungry,” you stated, eyes flickering down to the steaming plate of food for only a second. The scent waft up into your nose and caused your stomach to growl loudly. Heat flushed to your cheeks instantly. “You didn’t hear that.” Now, she won’t believe you for even a second.
Her head tilted to the side. Her mask was still in place, covering whatever lay underneath. All you could read was her body language and hoped it was at least similar to humans.
She pushed the tray close enough to knock it against your shin. You refused to take your eyes of her for even a second. Every moment in a fight counts. Even in one that looks like you won’t win. You’d rather go down trying than willingly give up. “I told you, I’m not hungry.” Thankfully, your stomach decided not to interrupt the conversation.
Clicking sounded from behind the mask. Your brows furrowed, instantly trying to make sense of the noises. It didn’t sound like tongue clicking. It was far too fast. You leaned away from her the best you could with a wall behind you.
“What will get you to eat?” she asked of you in an annoyed tone of voice. She seemed done with your antics. Your heart began to thunder in your ears. Panic settling back into your veins again.
The food smelled wonderful. It was hot and fresh by the looks of it. But, she had made it. There’s a chance she poisoned it. Who knows? She may have the strength to kill you with her bare hands, but what if she’s insane. She has to be since she kidnapped you out of all of your friends. And her wording from before. She had wanted just you. As if she had been stalking you this entire time, picking out a target to become a new plaything.
Fear drew you away from her, scooting towards the side. Until you had the chance to slip off and get onto your feet. “Just let me go, okay? I don’t know what I’ve done to get kidnapped but please. All I want is to go home,” you pleaded with all of your heart. You knew it was going to get denied. There’s a hidden reason she wanted you. More than her calling you her pet. That had to be.
She bowed her head and shook it with disappointment, flowing off of her. “Paya, give me strength.” You heard her uttered barely above a breath. Her head raised so the eye sockets of the mask found your face. The intense stare from her behind the mask was nearly paralyzing. “Listen to me closely: you are my pet now. You will not be harmed. You are not leaving. I have laid my claim over you.”
With the words repeated straight to your face for the fifth time, you paused in your tactical retreat.
The nearest object appeared in your hand a millisecond before it went flying through the air. “No!” you shouted at the top of your lungs, face flush with heat. The next thing you went was nearly in your hand when you felt a presence behind you.
One thickly corded arm wrapped around your waist and tugged you up and off the ground. Your feet kicked wildly, striking every part you could reach. None of it did the damage you wished to see. She only grunted when you hit her knee in a particular spot. Then, she was sitting down on the bed and hold you in her lap. Your back to her chest. That same arm still snug and secure around your waist.
A deep, vibrating purr erupted from her throat and skipped across your skin. Goosebumps arose across your flesh, pebbling the tissue.
Before you had time to realize the effects, your tense muscles began to loosen. Confusion overridden your features. You struggled weakly in her grasp. Then, you went slack against her chest. The purr acting like a drug had added to your system.
“Good,” she interrupted the sound for only a second. Her other hand came up and petted the top of your head. You further relaxed against her, eyes nearly drifting shut. Your heart even slowed back down to normal.
“What… what did you, you do to me?” you slurred and titled your head back to see the underneath of her mask. In your dazed, doused state, you reached up and poked the exposed portion of her jaw. Weird looking jaw. You attempted to hook your finger under the metal and tug it free. She caught your wrist before you fully committed and put it down by your side. “What are you…?”
The alien paused, including the purring. It still affected you heavily despite the silence now entering the air. You were able to think clearer without the constant sound. She let go both of your waist and wrist and reached for the mask. Your eyes grew to the size of saucers. Was she truly going to expose her features to you? Oh god, what did she look like?!
When the mask was pulled off, a hiss of depressurized air sounded in the room. Your brows furrowed at the noise. She continued the move until you tensed back up. All the dopamine in your system instantly went out the window.
She was surely alien and completely inhuman. But… not ugly? You felt weird to think such a thing. Her head was massive with a dome-like shape that elongated the back of her skull. Piercing purple eyes were sharp and deadly to look in. Four mandibles acted like her lips, each ending in a lethal looking fang. Expect one had signs of a fracture. On the out edges of the dome had beige colored spikes that almost created a full crown.
You gulped down the lump in your throat and stayed still. It wasn’t just her claws and strength that could kill you, those mandible could easily gouge an eye out.
“I am Gawtin,” she announced and set the mask off to the side. “And, like I have said, you will be staying with me.”

Grinch Young R.L. x GN!Reader
Warnings: swearing, mentions of depression, mentions of poverty, and just disliking Christmas
Word Count: 2.8k
Pairing: Young!Remus Lupin x Gender Neutral Gryffindor!Reader
Summary: Christmas was quickly approaching and everyone was excited but you. As the residential Grinch you were not looking forward to the holiday but turns out Remus Lupin is a Grinch as well.
A/N: Hello all! This is my first fic back after a break and I'm really glad to be back. Thank you to everyone who is still reading my stories and I love you all. Also this was inspired by my disliking of Christmas so I projected on the reader and Remus a smidge.

Christmas had exploded around Hogwarts. Pine trees were set up in just about every corner in every single room in the castle. Trees were taller than most of the students and covered in brightly colored baubles and tinsel and magic balls of light that changed color every minute. Garlands and wreaths covered the stone walls and the smell of gingerbread followed the students everywhere they went. The suits of armor broke out into Christmas songs and danced anytime someone passed by. The Great Hall was by far the most decorated part of Hogwarts with festive table runners, stockings hung on the fireplace, large real snowflakes on every surface enchanted to never melt, and the magical ceiling was snowing. It was horrible.
You had never been one to get into the Christmas spirit. The songs were annoying and wormed their way into your brain and never left. The decorations were everywhere and followed you around, literally while at Hogwarts. People were just insanely obsessed with Christmas and overly happy. They were happy to the point of it being creepy and fake and weird.
Possibly the worst was just how excited all of your friends seemed to be. James Potter, sunshine incarnate and your best friend, loved Christmas. He loved everything you hated about it. In fact, James had been talking about Christmas since the beginning of November and he never let you escape it.
“Happy 10th day of Christmas Y/N!” James’s bright and cheerful smile popped up between you and your book. The sudden appearance of his face made you jump, smacking him a little with your book.
“James! You absolute asshole! I’m trying to read.” You huffed and shoved him away as you tried to turn back to your book. The common room was quiet and the perfect place to read until now.
James only rolled his eyes and wedged himself into the miniscule space between you and the arm of the couch. “You know there is an entire couch open? Actually the whole common room is open but you had to sit practically on my lap?”
“Well yeah,” James chuckled as he tore the book out of your grasp and fully moved himself onto your lap. “I have to tell you what I want for Christmas! This year I want Lily Evans to date me.”
“Fat chance buddy. You’ve been wishing for that since you were 13. Give it a rest.” With one hard push, James fell off of your lap and onto the rug with a loud thud. “Besides, don’t you know you don’t get your Christmas wish if you tell it to the Grinch.”
James just looked at you with a wild smirk. “Then I suppose I’ll have to sing a song to reverse the curse!” He then burst into song, singing the Twelve Days of Christmas at the top of his lungs. You clamped your hands over your ears but nothing managed to block out the horrible sounds coming from James until the portrait opened and a figure sped by and body slammed James.
Sirius pulled James into a headlock while Peter quickly sprinted over and sat on James’s chest. “Please Prongs, we’ve talked about this. You can’t sing. Don’t ever try to do it again.” While James struggled to break free from Sirius and Peter, the fourth marauder sat in the open space next to you, his eyes already on his book.
You knew Sirius, Peter, and Remus but not like you knew James. Yes they were friends with your best friend but you never spoke to them unless it was for class or James made you. There was nothing wrong with the three of them. Actually, quite the opposite. You loved them and loved hearing stories about them but you never ran in the same circles. In fact, you didn’t see James as much as you used to either. You had grown up next door to him and as kids you two were always together. It’s not that you two aren’t friends anymore because clearly you are, you just don’t see him around as much.
James found Sirius, Remus, and Peter and never left them. You found your own friends and spent more time on your studies than James ever could. Sirius was fine and you waved to him in the halls. Peter would wave if he was with James or Sirius but not on his own. Remus never really acknowledged you. However, that never stopped you from looking at him. Since James had become friends with Remus Lupin, you were drawn to him. He was quiet just about all of the time but that didn’t mean he wasn’t sassy. You heard the way he would call out James and it was cutthroat. He was tall and handsome and rather mysterious in a way. Not to mention he was smart and was always seen with a book.
“Hey Grinch!” James's voice came from somewhere on the floor.
“What?” You and Remus both said. At the same time, you looked away from Remus as he looked away from his book to find James. Hearing Remus, you then looked at him while he looked at you.
For only a second, no one moved or spoke until James broke the silence. “Right, sorry. Forgot there’s two of ya. Moony?” Remus slowly tore his gaze away from yours to look at his friend who had continued speaking but you could hear none of it.
That was an interesting development. You had assumed James was talking to you since not only does he know about your distaste for Christmas but you called yourself Grinch not very long ago. But Remus also responded so Remus must also not be the biggest fan of Christmas. Otherwise, there would have been no reason for James to call him that or for him to respond.
The night slowly grew darker and while more and more students arrived in the common room, Remus never left the spot next to you. James, Sirius, and Peter eventually left to find some poor soul to bother but Remus remained, his nose still in his book. Honestly, it was making you a little nervous at this point. The man has hardly ever spoken to you since you were introduced back in third year. It's been three years since then and it wasn’t like you were much closer than before.
“You don’t like Christmas?” Remus mumbled, glancing at you out of the corner of his eye. He sounded almost disinterested.
“Yeah, I think it’s quite dumb to be honest.” You expected him to respond, like people usually do when having a conversation but he didn’t. He just hummed a little and went back to his book. “You don’t like it either?” If he wasn’t going to continue then maybe you would just have to make him. It brought almost a sense of hope thinking about the fact that maybe someone else wasn’t enjoying the season. You didn’t want someone to wallow around with but to have someone that wasn’t going to complain about your less than thrilled outlook would be really nice.
“I don’t. Never have.” Remus didn’t even bother taking his eyes off of his book as he answered. It could have been just your imagination but you thought you could just hardly see him smile. He suddenly closed his book and stood, his arm brushing yours in the process. Remus made it to the base of the stairs before he turned back around to look at you. “Hey Grinch.” As soon as you turned and he could see your face, he smiled. “See you later.”
---
At the Gryffindor table later that week, you had once again been minding your own business when James interrupted you. He sat across from you and smirked, reaching over to poke your arm. “Happy 14th day of Christmas, Grinch Number Two.”
“How come I’m the second?” You said with a roll of your eyes before you continued eating your breakfast.
“Because Remus is number one.” He said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Well, I disagree. I knew you first.”
James hummed and shrugged. “I’ll take that into consideration. Did you talk to him after we all left?”
“Did you set that up James?” You asked with narrow eyes.
“No, I just simply called him the nickname I always give him this time of year which just so happens to be the same as yours and I assumed he would mention something about it to you after. Did he?” He leaned forward, eagerly awaiting your answer.
“Yes.” James let out a cheer at your answer, getting him some weird looks from the whole room since he was so loud. Before you could chastise him for being so loud and obnoxious, Remus sat next to you. Which was very odd since before last night, he’s never sat next to you.
Immediately, James got up and moved further down the table to bother Lily. “Are you going home for Christmas?” Remus asked as soon as James was out of earshot. “The final day to sign up to stay here is Saturday.”
“Will you be staying?” You asked.
Remus nodded. “I stay every year.” He opened his mouth and closed it a few times before he evidently decided he didn’t want to say anything and kept it shut.
You could have gone home and while it would have been nice to be with family, you never actually stayed at the castle for Christmas. Now might be a good chance to do it. “I think I’ll stay. I go home every year; my family can survive without me for one year.”
He smiled and started adding food to his plate. “I’m glad you’ll be staying.” You were too busy trying to hide the blush on your cheeks to notice the blush on his.
---
As the holiday neared closer and closer, everyone got happier and happier. Well, everyone but you and Remus. While James and Sirius, who were also staying at Hogwarts, were planning a Christmas party and singing songs, you and Remus bonded over the opposite.
His least favorite song was We Wish You a Merry Christmas, he thought Santa was beyond creepy, and he found the smell of pine to be overpowering. You sat together at meals and laughed at people who were wearing festive outfits. He made you smile as he made faces behind peoples’ backs as they gushed over holiday traditions. On more than one occasion, he shoved James into a pile of snow when he was being too cheery. Remus Lupin was bringing you a lot of joy this season and you were not the only one to notice it.
James made it a point to tell you that this was the happiest he had ever seen both of you around this time of year. In fact, it almost looked like you were enjoying Christmas. You had scoffed at that and then proceeded to shove him into some snow but he did have a point. Remus was making you really happy and it's hard to be a grinch when you’re happy.
But it was nice being happy around the holiday and it was even nicer that Remus was the one making you so happy. You always found him attractive and you knew he was smart and funny but now you got to know just how sweet he was. Yes, he was poking fun at other people but he was doing it purely for your entertainment. He admitted one night after you two had made fun of a particularly ugly Christmas sweater that he never does this; he just liked hearing you laugh. Which made your insides turn into jelly and you couldn’t stop smiling. You also learned that he liked the same books as you and he was so passionate about reading.
He was extremely loyal to his friends and would do anything for them. He wasn’t great at expressing his feelings but he tried his best to let the people close to him know they were loved. He was brutally honest especially when it came to James and Sirius; he was always telling them how stupid they looked or when they were acting like idiots. You felt like a cliche Christmas romance movie but you were falling in love.
---
It was Christmas Eve and James had insisted all seven of the Gryffindors who had stayed needed to sleep in the common room. It was a tradition you two used to have as kids. The night before Christmas you two would sleep on the floor in the living room in front of the tree; you kept up with that tradition until you went to Hogwarts.
Of course before that, there was a party. It was nothing insane like the parties Sirius and James threw after winning a Quidditch game but it was still a party. There were snacks, drinks, games, and Christmas music, much to yours and Remus’s disappointment. You mingled for a while, which is more than Remus could say. He sat on one of the loveseats and only moved to grab more snacks. James tried to get him to play pin the nose on Rudolph but it was easy to guess how that went. While you also didn’t join in on the festive games, you stayed to watch. Sirius managed to get the nose perfectly on Rudolph which made James accuse him of cheating to which Sirius tackled him for ‘insulting his honor’. He confessed to cheating ten minutes later.
Many more games went on like that and after the fifth one, you found Remus still on the loveseat. As you approached, he moved so there would be more space for you. You sat in silence for a while before he spoke up. “Why do you hate Christmas, really?”
You had told him once you didn’t like the music and yes that’s true but it's not the only reason. “I guess I just don’t like how happy people pretend to be. There’s real genuine happiness like James but so many people aren’t happy. Life is horrible and nothing is going right but as soon as it's December, they pretend. It's ok to be unhappy during the holidays; you don’t have to pretend life is perfect just because it's Christmas.” You looked at Remus only to find him watching you. “Can I ask why you don’t like Christmas?”
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “I never really had a good Christmas. My mom really struggled to be happy around this time of year, especially after…”
“After you became a werewolf?” His eyes grew wide and he started to shake. “No one told me,” you whispered and put a hand on his arm to calm him. “You just were always missing on the full moon and sometimes the day after. I figured it out. I don’t think of you differently.”
Remus took a minute to process the fact that you knew his deepest secret before he continued his story. “Yes, after I was bitten my mother was horribly depressed around Christmas. I think it made her remember everything and she couldn’t be happy. It also was harder for my parents to get money after since no one really wanted to be around us. I saw my parents struggle all month to save money to get me a gift. My mother especially would go without dinner just to waste money on some stupid toy. After seeing that, well it makes it hard to like Christmas.”
Your hand found his and you intertwined your fingers with his. “I’m sorry Remus.”
He shrugged a little and watched your hand as his thumb stroked yours. “It isn’t your fault. Actually, you’ve made this the best Christmas I’ve ever had.” He smiled and looked up at you, his cheeks a dusty rose.
“You’ve made this my best Christmas as well.” It was then something bumped your head, causing you to look up. Behind the loveseat was James who had tied some mistletoe to a stick and was holding it over your head. Remus followed your gaze and sighed, rolling his eyes. “We don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
“Do you want to?” Remus whispered. You knew James could hear every word you were saying despite him pretending not to listen but you didn’t really care.
“Yes.” You hardly finished the word before Remus leaned down and brought his lips to yours. Immediately your arms wrapped around his neck and brought him closer if it was even possible. His hands found your waist, lips moving against yours in perfect sync. Unfortunately, the kiss had to end so you could breathe.
Remus nudged your nose with his. “Now it’s the best Christmas ever.”

Hi again. If you've been around a while you're probably going to be like "Em, again??" But guess who got sick for the 6th time this year and this time it was a full on chest infection!! It has been three weeks, and somehow I am still Not Free!!
Anyway, BA fell to the wayside this month because it was Velox Fabula time and I've yet to miss a Velox jam (also...chest infection). I also needed to get my sudden and newfound Pirates of the Caribbean obsession out of the way so! I made a short pirate visual novel for the jam and I'm normal again. I also released the prologue of my side IF To Taste Sweet Silver (@sweetsilver-if) just to have it out. Feel free to check it out if you want, but it likely won't be updated for a while as I'm shifting gears back to BA for September!
I don't have much to report but:
UI update should be out in the next week or two depending on how I'm feeling. It won't look like much to y'all since it's more for my sake via cleaning up the code LOL but there were things added (friendship indicators, open dyslexic font option, character page updated, stat page updated, glossary page added) I'm not a graphic designer but it's better organized I think. There won't be an Official Post about it because it isn't new content, but I will make a small announcement when it's out. It'll also include the originally deleted Lars/Zoe/Nevio lunch scene in Chapter 2 as well. Sorry this is taking so long, I just really struggle with the coding side of things which has made the process slow.
Writing in August was also slow, and honestly, I think I really needed those few weeks off not thinking about BA. My inbox being very quiet helped as well, so I really did take a real break from BA. When I opened up the writing doc, I felt a whole lot better about working on BA again, and we have hit 100k words finally!
Anyway, I don't want to lament much, but I did have a personal goal of releasing up to Chapter 4 this year which obviously is Not Going to Happen. It honestly sucks I got sick so often this year because it cut into so much time for creative projects, be it BA or anything else.
I'm not really going to be hard on myself for it, though. I think releasing 3 chapters this year considering everything that kept Going Wrong this year is actually pretty good. I just think its annoying when I know I could have done it but the universe said no instead akfjalfa Anyway, I'm not sure when Chapter 3 will release but I do have a good feeling about September and I think I'll be able to at least get a decent chunk done this month!
Finally, September marks the one year anniversary for this blog and October marks the one year anniversary of BA releasing!! I feel like I literally just started writing this, the fact it's September already is wild.
I was going to do art commissions, but due to surprise car issues, I don't really have the money for that now (next year for sure though!!), so I was thinking of maybe doing character Q&As to celebrate? I've also seen some authors do raffles, but I'm not entirely sure what I would raffle off? Maybe personalized short stories with readers MCs if there's interest in that? I'm not sure yet, but I have a month to figure it out lol
But also thank you to everyone who has followed along!! It's been a really fun time both writing BA and on the blog. I know I say this a lot, but I'm really glad this is such a chill place. It's nice for me the author obviously, but it's also nice because I always want the spaces I have to feel like safe places for others as well so! Thanks again!
Lastly, I normally would end on a little snippet or preview but since most of what I wrote was just the two different openings, I feel like I have nothing fun to tease (or maybe I'm too picky about snippets idk). Hopefully Zoe's bday post tomorrow makes up for it, and I'll post some snippets later in the month instead!
Thanks for reading!

for ocd anon
hey anon 💜
Thank you for trusting me with your experiences, anon. I do totally get what you mean about how trying to talk about this with people can make the thoughts worse--it was the same for me for a long while, and I remember how I felt really shitty and trapped even when I wanted to talk to other people about it. It can feel so complicated when the thoughts got in the way of talking to people who I trusted, and it made it really difficult to communicate or connect with them in the moments. I'm really glad that you do have your partner in your life and that she's someone who makes you feel so seen. I can tell how much you care about her--it definitely comes through in the way you write about her and the moments you two share together. And I know how tough it can be when you and your loved ones are trying to support each other through mental illness, and also just having to navigate all the other things that come from growing up and not having the resources or the life experience to always know exactly what to do or how to go forward. But I'm glad that you have each other.
What you said in your ask about seeking for a lighthouse really resonated with me. When everything is so overwhelming and feels all-consuming, I remember really just wishing I could just wake up and have it all be better, or at least know what to do next so I could stop feeling so lost. You talked about the feeling of miasmic wrongness, and I really do know what you mean. I remember just feeling so completely wrong and panicked and I don't even really have the words to describe that very vivid feeling, but I remember it. And I want to validate that all your feelings about this are very understandable and that you are so allowed to feel upset and angry and sad about all of this--it's a lot to deal with! You're doing so well every day you survive through this and wake up and try to cope, even despite it all. The memories you share with me about going on camping trips, spending time with family, your hobbies show me how you do have these important things in your life that you value and things that you want to hold onto for your future.
I wish I did have a more clear path that could offer you that certainty. Sometimes it sucks how the way out of + through things is messy, complicated, not a straight line--it's hard to trust or believe that in the moment. The only lighthouse I know how to offer you is that when I was 15, I was going through something incredibly similar to you, and today, my obsessive thoughts show up only every couple months, and they are tolerable now. I have another friend with OCD who lives a very full life, even with the thoughts--they have redefined their relationship with their obsessions in a way that brings them much less distress. I don't have any certain promises I can make to you, but I do want you to know that I know quite a lot of people with OCD who have felt the depths of this pain and came out through it in ways unique to them that let them still have those moments of joy. That staying alive brings with it the possibility of moving through the panic + the feelings of wrongness + coexisting in that space long enough to figure out how to get through it in a way that hurts less. We didn't all make it back to exactly who we were before, but we found new ways of being that still felt like parts of us.
What worked for each one of us was different (and if any mutuals/followers with OCD have specific non triggering things they want to share, feel free to add in the replies.) Several people I know found really good therapists, a lot of us got out of stressful environments, some people tried meds, or found techniques like the worksheets I shared that helped get through the day. I don't share any of this to overwhelm you or make you feel ashamed if those things aren't accessible right now, because I 100% get that it isn't as easy as just deciding to try something and suddenly being able to do that.
Last thing I want to share tonight is just one last suggestion, but please feel free to ignore it if it doesn't feel applicable to you or accessible. Back to the topic of how to access support in your real life to help you get through this + find a lighthouse, I wonder if your partner is someone who could help communicate with other people for you. I know you mentioned that she is someone who you feel closer and can sometimes talk to more and why you can't talk with family rn, and I wonder if she would be able to like, send an email to someone in your life like reaching out to your parents or a counselor if that's what you want to explore options for help irl. Obviously I don't know every detail of your situation and I know all of this is really difficult, but I just wanted to mention it to see if that would be feasible at all.
Know that I'm rooting for you, anon, that I hear what you're going through and that I'm sorry that you've been having to live with this amount of stress and loss for so many months.
I also want to give you a heads up that I'm traveling out of town this week and I'm going to have a lot less access to my laptop since my schedule is pretty chaotic. I might not be able to respond until Monday next week, but please feel free to keep sending in asks if it's helpful-my inbox is always open to you and I'm here to listen. If you need an urgent response, Trans lifeline and Thrive lifeline (text based) can be there for you.
Truly wishing the best for you anon 💜💜💜

Friday Night - Chapter 3 - Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Warning Adult Content*
The thick faux leather chair had grown too warm for Hunter Dannings.
While he typically thought of it as comfortable, a welcome addition to protect his back as he sat behind a desk all day, it had begun to feel sweaty and stuffy to sit in.
He shifted continuously in his seat, trying to get comfortable but finding it impossible with the persistent heat.
He debated getting up from his chair to sit on one of two pale, gray couches meant to break up his large office but he didn't want to rest.
He wanted to work and that could only be done behind his thick mahogany bureau.
Eventually, he found his layers to be unbearable too, peeling off his suit jacket to free his wide chest and rolling his dress shirt sleeves right above his elbows.
As the hours passed, even his tie became too restrictive.
Hunter hooked a finger into the top, dragging down the knot with a practiced ease and releasing a deep sigh.
The handsome business man should have been used to long work days and hours behind his desk but he was distracted today or to be more accurate, he'd been distracted for the past few weeks.
A vibration in his pants pocket alerted Hunter of the incoming call.
He pulled the device out, ready to upkeep a cool, professional tone when a booming voice came through the other line.
"Oh, Hunter, this new sign of yours is working wonders. We have so many new customers coming in every day."
He immediately regretted ever bringing the phone up to his ear.
Quickly switching it to speaker, Hunter rubbed at his abused ear.
"Hey, Anna," he greeted her, trying but failing miserably, to make himself sound energetic.
"I'm glad the sign is helping."
A couple months ago when Hunter first got the idea to create the new logo for Anna, he did worry that she wouldn't like the design.
Anna was an older woman, a family friend Hunter had known since he was a kid and she enjoyed her traditions.
While spending hours perfecting the logo, sign and animation for Anna to use for her bakery, Hunter worried she would reject the entire thing.
Luckily, she was beyond ecstatic when Hunter revealed the design to her two weeks ago and was already enjoying the free sign Hunter got made to hang above the bakery as well.
"It's doing more than 'help.' We now have so many trendy teens coming in to order. They keep asking for Bob to drink."
"Bob?" Hunter asked, his brows drawing inward in confusion.
"I've never heard of that drink before."
"Bob, babe, B-B-Bobbi, I think?" Anna huffed, growing increasingly frustrated with her own memory.
"Maybe Bob-eye?"
A laugh barricaded its way out of Hunter's chest as he held both hands over his mouth, trying and failing, to hold it back.
"Boba? You're talking about Boba?"
"Oh yes, that. What a strange thing to name a drink."
Anna further distracted Hunter from his work, having ceaseless stories to tell him about the bakery and changes her employees were inspired to make after getting the free sign and logo.
When she turned the conversation to him, Hunter answered in the way everyone expected him to.
Work was great... the company was expanding... so many clients they're excited to work with.
He did this because he couldn't explain the other development that was creating a bigger and bigger impact on his life.
Hunter's craving for alcohol had grown but only in relation to the cute bartender he knew would be serving it every Friday night.
What first started as a simple curiosity and attraction seemed to be taking up more and more space in his mind.
He wanted to get to know him, see more of him, show River Conners why he should get to know Hunter better too.
Time he typically spent obsessing over the next big move for his company was instead being filled with the next big step in their relationship.
Which was crazy considering that what they had could barely be called that.
It was simply a few words and pleasantries shared across an occasionally sticky bar but those words were growing to mean more to Hunter every day.
His life had definitely become too lonely.
The possibility of a brief conversation in the middle of someone's shift now seemed more compelling than the riveting work he completed on a daily basis but trying to logic himself out of it didn't work.
Hunter was very much smitten by a man he barely knew.
It made him restless these days.
He grew less satisfied in his hours turned days turned weeks behind his desk.
It all seemed to take away from the time he spent trying to see behind River's impenetrable mask.
A savior complex Hunter didn't realize he had was working overtime, pushing him to go back each and every week.
How long has this been going on?
A month?
Counting on his fingers the number of times Hunter went back to Adonis, he realized that was accurate.
Sweet old Anna was still outlining the bakery's plan to expand their soup line but Hunter was checked out, already deciding to pay Adonis another visit tonight.
"The pumpkin soup would be such a nice addition, no?"
"No... I mean, yes. That soup would be great, Anna."
A woman with as much life experience as her definitely knew when a man was not paying attention but she satisfied herself with the response anyway, releasing a pleased hum as the contemplated her new pumpkin soup recipe.
Hunter's eyes continually strayed to the time lit up in the bottom corner of his screen.
As he got closer and closer to the end of the day, time seemed to slow down just to torture him and his work was definitely suffering for it.
The eloquence and detail he usually invested into his emails was slowly condensed into bare bones.
People were lucky if they even got three sentences out of Hunter who was far more concerned about finishing so he could leave than anything else.
Finally, the clock struck 5:30 pm and Hunter couldn't get out of his seat fast enough.
As Hunter was locking up his office door, he turned to find his PA, Josh, staring at him with wide eyes.
Josh was a dark-skinned man, smaller than Hunter in just about every way.
He was half a head shorter and his metabolism didn't allow him to keep even one extra pound of fat on his thin frame but he styled himself like he was ten feet tall, all crisp long lines in a business casual that looked a lot more approachable than Hunter's uptight suits.
Thinking of that now, Hunter could see why the man was so shocked.
Hunter's suit was in complete disarray, his jacket off, his sleeves pushed up and his tie embarrassingly disheveled.
"Are you okay?" Josh asked, his jaw still slack.
"I'm fine. I just felt a bit hot inside my office."
"No, I mean is there a family emergency or something? Why are you leaving on time?" he clarified, clearly trying to tease the taller man.
"You always leave right after the rooster crows to wake people up. You basically live here on most nights and treat 5:30 like a suggestion but look," he pulled up his watch...
"You're right on time."
"Shut up," Hunter groaned, not caring how unprofessional he sounded.
"It's not a crime to want to go home."
"I agree. Which is why I've been trying to convince you to leave on time for years," Josh shot back.
Hunter kept his mouth shut since he did remember several conversations along those lines.
Josh reached behind his desk, grabbing his bag and racing to follow the taller man.
"Seriously, what's changed?"
The elevator arrived but Josh didn't drop the question.
Instead, Josh threw out ideas and guesses as the elevator doors closed and it didn't take long for him to stumble across the broad category of 'love'.
This got Hunter's face going from paper white to tomato red in seconds.
"So it's a crush," Josh exclaimed excitedly, not reducing his tone even as they heard the ding of the elevator before the doors slid open.
Their seal of privacy was broken but Josh didn't falter for one second.
"Who is the amazing person that caught your eye...?" Josh stopped speaking, getting drowned out by the noise of several conversations happening all at the same time.
They both turned to look ahead and Hunter's eyes went wide seeing the floor in front of him in a complete mess.
Several people were walking around and yelling at once, their voices blending together in an angry blur.
There was a man off to the side, his head hung and eyes misty as if he was on the verge of tears but emerging from the fray was Kellie, coming toward the elevator with such haste that her long braids flew away from her round cheeks.
She stopped her pursuit when her eyes fell upon Hunter and the look of relief that passed over her face was intense.
What just happened?

[5: 48 am]
Yoongi rolled over in his sleep, his mind was stillsomewhere between a half-remembered dream and wakefulness. In that dream he hadbeen walking down a street, people looking directly in his face without being recognizedand he felt so free, but then as soonas he opened his eyes to the blurry lines of an early sunrise he realized itwas only just that; a dream. He sighed, his heart suddenly heavy with thethought and wishing he could go back to sleep and be anonymous once more. Thenhe caught the smell of a comforting scent he was all too familiar with. A swirlof jasmine and vanilla hit his nose and he was brought back to reality oncemore as he rolled over to see you sleeping next to him. You looked peaceful, more than likely dreaming yourself because he could see your eyes moving; yourhand rested next to your face with your hair fanned out behind you as if youhad just turned over. He watched as you breathed steadily, settling his face ontop of his hand so that he could watch you. Different expressions passed acrossyour face as you continued to sleep and he wondered what it was that you weredreaming about. Surely for you it wasn’t anonymity or the scary reality thatyou’d be recognized. He had kept you close and under wraps; making sure that noone found out who you were. The only people who knew you existed in his lifewere the rest of the group and management and as far as Yoongi was concerned, that was all that mattered. He was fiercely protective, he knew that, andsometimes it aggravated you but everything he did was because he was so in love with you. You had almost beenspotted with him once and the sheerpanic that ripped through his chest almost caused him to double over, but youwere never seen. After that day he swore he would do everything in his power tokeep you away from prying eyes.
When you weren’t at your own home you were staying withYoongi at his private apartment whenever he was available to stay. He had triedhis hardest to get you to live there full time but you had insisted that youwere fully capable of having your own place. He loved your tenacity because itmatched his own. The world saw him as this tough artist who knew what he wantedand didn’t give a shit, but also had a softer side to him but with you he feltlike himself. To you he wasn’t Suga or Agust D, he was just…Yoongi.
Yoongi thought back to the day he had met you a year and ahalf ago. With an iced Americano on his mind, desperately trying to stay awaketo finish a song he was producing, he had wandered down to a coffee shop thatwas open late into the night. He had stepped up to the counter, the usualbarista recognizing him immediately and started his coffee right away. Hestuffed his hands into his hoodie as he waited, rocking on his feet while hisgaze swept across the small coffee shop. His eyes landed on you tucked away ina corner, headphones on, laptop open, and several papers spread out around you.You weren’t particularly the most interestingperson he had ever seen, but you had some type of magnetism that drew him in.Once he had his drink he was almost out of the door, he really was, his handwas on it and he was pushing when the tight feeling in his chest told him heshould turn around and go back before he regretted it. He bit his lip, set hisshoulders, and walked over to your table. You didn’t see him for a few seconds, but when you looked up you jumped in surprise as you pulled your headphonesoff.
“I’m sorry,” you said in a rush. Yoongi’s heart fluttered atthe sound of your voice and he was sure he had never heard a more delicate, beautiful sound in his life. “Can I help you?”
You were looking at him inquisitively, but no recognitioncrossed your eyes. He didn’t think this far ahead, so he looked down at thepapers spread out around you.
“School?” he had asked. Wow, what an icebreaker, Yoongi.
You glanced down at the mess and sighed heavily beforelaughing.
“Yea, it’s kicking my ass right now. You in university aswell?” You gestured towards the coffee in his hand.
“Uh,” he rubbed the back of his neck. “Not exactly.”
“Oh, you must have a job where you work late then.”
“You could say that. Mind if I sit?”
You shrugged as you began pulling some of the papers towardsyou. “Knock yourself out.”
Yoongi soon fell into easy conversation with you; actually, the best conversation he had had in a while. You had finally gotten curious asto why he was out so late and confessed who he was with blushing cheeks anddownturned eyes. You had admitted you were aware of BTS, but hadn’t had muchtime to get too invested in much because of school and then had the audacity toapologize for not recognizing him. Hehad assured you that it was more than okay.
Much to his surprise you had agreed to see him again at thesame café the next week. Weekly café visits soon because twice a week and thenhe was asking you out to dinner and before he knew it he was falling head overheels for you. At first, he was scared to bring you around the boys, but theday you stepped foot into the dorms and connected so effortlessly with them heknew you were something special. You could make them laugh, you treated themlike normal human beings, and at theend of the night you wrapped your arms around him as you kissed his cheek. Hehad just thought his life was complete up until that point. With his arms stillwrapped around you he kissed you for the very first time in the hallway whilein another room his family of six excitedly talked and laughed amongst oneanother. He had felt whole for thefirst time in his life.
Now, here you were, laid out next to him still here afterall of this time. You had realized early on just how hectic his life was, butyou took it all in stride and your smile never faltered.
“How can you be so happy about this all of the time?” he hadasked you one day. He was going over his schedule with you; the inevitabledread of not seeing you for some time settling deep in his stomach.
“Are you happy,Yoongi?” Your eyes were bright as you asked him the question.
“Of course I am.”
“Then I’m happy. I know I’ll get to see you. This,” you hadsaid pointing to the schedule, “isn’t forever, nor does it define ourrelationship.”
Yoongi didn’t cry and when he did it sure as hell wasn’t infront of anyone, but that day you were there when he broke down.
“I don’t know what I did to deserve this, to deserve you,” he cried as he clung tightly toyou.
“Oh, baby,” you whispered, “you deserve the world.”
You moaned lightly in your sleep and shifted your positionjust the slightest bit. Yoongi brought his hand up and let his fingertips brushfrom your temple and down your cheek. Your nose scrunched at the light feeling, but you didn’t wake.
Now, Yoongi was glad that he had woken up. His dream of notbeing recognized was forgotten because not being recognized was what got himhere, in this moment, with you.
“I love you,” he whispered. His words floated in the spacesomewhere in your dream and his reality. “I promise to keep you safe, I’ll keepyou close, and nothing will ever hurtyou.”
He reached out and grabbed your hand softly and brought itto his lips, placing a kiss to your fingertips before laying it next to him andletting his eyes drift shut once more.

"Hey baby?"
You hear your boyfriend call out from the kitchen. You were in the bathroom trying to get your hair into a suitable hairdo and fix your smudged makeup- you were way too tired last night to take it off and too lazy now to do a whole new face of makeup.
"Yes love?" You call back then grunt in annoyance when the mascara under your right eye stubbornly refuses to come off, resulting in looking like a black eye.
"Do you have any ch-.....-ies..?"
You missed the last part of what he said, you squint, trying to listen harder.
"I'm sorry love but I did not hear you at all! Can you say it again?" You call out to him.
"I said do you ha-....-ny......-ies?"
Oh for pete's sake.... you sigh heavily and drop your tired arm, then apologize again.
"Look, baby I'm sorry, I'll be out in a second ok? I just can't hear what you're saying."
You grab another Q-tip and put more makeup remover on it then successfully wipe the stubborn mascara off the under part of your right eye.
"Aha! finally....now I'll just..." You mutter under your breath while you pull out your mascara wand and start refreshing your eyelashes.
"Baby?"
You jump and poke yourself in the eye when your boyfriend suddenly appears in the open bathroom door right next to you.
"Ahh! Ouch! Ow, ow, gosh dang it."
Your boyfriend immediately looks regretful and apologizes profusely.
"Sorry baby! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you, are you ok?"
You giggle and kiss him on the cheek to show him he doesn't have to worry. Then you try to keep your eye from twitching as you fan it slightly, it hadn't hurt that bad but it made your eyes water and you really didn't need that right now.
"What was it that you needed Honey?"
Your boyfriend scrunched his eyebrows together in thought for a moment, making you giggle, and then he snapped his fingers.
"Ah yes! I was wondering if you had any...uh....Chocopies...?" He draws out the words slowly and his eyes dart around, looking anywhere but your face.
You laugh at his adorable expression, the fact that he was embarrassed was so cute. Unfortunately, you didn't have the snack he was obsessed with recently.
"Aw, no love, I ran out a few days ago. I'm sorry."
His face fell, but a second later he smiled and waved it off, saying he didn't want one anyway.
"I mean, I should probably be careful of how many of those I eat....ya know?" He chuckled.
You booped his nose and turned back to keep fixing your makeup and as you did you said nonchalantly,
"Hmm, how about we go and get some from the store? I needed to get some groceries anyway, I have like, no food. And a Chocopie sounds amazing right now." You wink at him through the mirror and smile as his face lights up.
_________________
"Careful baby, here." Your boyfriend grabs your hand and steadies you when an older man shoves past- jostling you on his way inside the subway.
You smile gratefully at him and squeeze his hand affectionately.
On a nice day, you two would walk all the way to the store; since it wasn't too far away. But it was hot outside and neither of you wanted to walk in the muggy heat, and standing on the sidewalk for who knows how long trying to get a taxi, wouldn't be much better. So the subway it is.
Subways were always cramped and uncomfortable; especially when rude people would knock into you without a second thought.
You feel a warm strong arm wrap around you protectively and pull you close. Leaning into your boyfriend's chest, you forget about the fact that you're crammed into a tiny space, standing uncomfortably. Your boyfriend kisses you on the top of your head and breathes in the scent of your new shampoo.
"Ohhhh, what scent is that? I love it."
You giggle and kiss his cheek, "it's cherry blossom, I saw it and wanted to try it out. I'm glad you like it."
"I do!.....hmm, but you know what scent would be even better?"
"No, what?"
He bends down and whispers in your ear, his soft breath tickling you.
"Chocopie scent...."
You pull back and smack him on the chest lightly, laughing at him.
"Oh my gosh, you're insane!"
"Why?? It would smell delicious!"
You roll your eyes, "you're definitely addicted to those things.."
He just smiles and winks at you before pulling you back into his protective hug.
________________
Finally off the subway and heading into your favorite grocery store, you feel a blast of blissfully cool air hit you right when you walk through the automatic doors.
"Ahh, oh my gosh this feels so good...just wait a second.."
You stand under the air vent that is responsible for blowing welcome coldness onto your sweaty face; your eyes closed in content. You don't realize that your boyfriend is watching you, smiling like an idiot.
Eventually you sigh and walk further into the store, grabbing a hand basket.
He follows you and just giggles at the way you walk; bouncing up and down a little and swinging the basket.
I love that girl.
"Come on slow poke~" you motion him to come catch up with you.
He takes a few long strides and catches up quickly. Then slips his hand into your free hand, entwining your fingers.
You smile at him and squeeze his hand, then start swinging your joined hands between the two of you. He just plays along and tries to hold back his laughs.
"Y/n? Ya know something?"
"What is it?"
"You're the cutest thing in the world and I love you."
"wha- I, I mean, ah haha" you stutter and a blush starts creeping up your neck. He just smiles at you and continues swinging your linked hands.
"What's the matter? Embarrassed?~"
"No, I just, thank you..... Iloveyoutoo.."
You rush out the last sentence and lift your hand that's still holding his to cover your face.
____________________
"I told you it was aisle fifteen...."
"You did not you little liar you said thirteen!"
"Uh uh, I distinctly said fifteen...you just didn't listen."
"Well I distinctly heard, thirteen."
You pout and cross your arms. He definitely said thirteen. He rolls his eyes playfully and pokes your cheek gently.
"Well either way, we're at fifteen now so let's go get that ramen you wanted. Sound good?"
You humph and walk into aisle fifteen, your boyfriend only a step behind you. You reach the end of the aisle and turn around again; confusion written all over your face. Then you turn around again, then again and start going back to the other side of the aisle that you started at.
"Baby what are you doing?"
Your boyfriend follows you and gently takes your arm. "Where are you going?"
"It's not here.."
"Huh?"
"The ramen, H/n....it isn't in this aisle."
"oh....they must've moved it..."
"Or you were wrong."
"Hey don't blame me!! You come here all the time, shouldn't you know where the stuff you get is?"
"Ugh, whatever. They must have switched everything around."
"That's what I said!"
"Shush, don't bother me, I need to concentrate."
The store did happen to switch a few things around, which you learned from the employee you asked for help.
Going around the store was difficult because they changed stuff, but also because the man-child that was attached at your hip; pulling stuff off the shelves to examine them and ask if you wanted "this too" or "this looks interesting, you want it?" He was obviously bored and trying not to think about his Chocopies that had yet to get a seat in the now stuffed hand basket.
You loved him to absolute pieces and you weren't bothered by it one bit, it just happened to make the trip last a bit longer.
It went on like this for a while, you picking out some rice, him asking if you wanted this weird looking rice because the container had a silly picture on it, you agreeing because it was too cute to say no.
Picking out vegetables, and seeing him come over with two handfuls of mushrooms for you to see if you wanted them. Needless to say, you got the mushrooms.
At one point you were grabbing another spatula and saw him looking over some weird cooking utensils; his eyes glued to a strange plastic thing....what even was that? A lemon juicer? Or a garlic peeler? Maybe it was a potato shredder.....
He started to reach out and grab it but you called to him before he could bring it to your attention.
"Hey, H/n! Let's go to the snacks now!"
He looked up quickly and nodded; coming over to you and completely forgetting the strange object.
You took his hand and started walking briskly, you had to get him to the snack aisle before he convinced you to buy the whole store because you just couldn't say no.
Finally in his favorite aisle, his face lit up and he started walking down; looking along the shelves for his new obsession.
While he scoured the shelves you look around for something salty to snack on along with the Chocopies. You settle on some chips that you both liked and a small bag of dried squid for whenever you crave it randomly.
When you look up again you see him hurrying toward you with a box of the special treat clutched in his arms.

"Ok, we're checking out now...is there anything else you need Y/n?"
"Umm, I don't think so....let me check everything off. Pls tell me if there's something missing."
"Alright." He takes the basket and waits for you to start saying what you got.
"Rice?"
"Check."
"Vegetables?"
"Check."
"Milk?"
"Check."
"Eggs?"
"Check."
"Cheese?"
"Check."
"Seaweed?"
"Ok wait hold on..."
"What? Did I forget that? Dang it I thought I got it."
"No, no it's here. The word "check" is losing all meaning to me though." You laugh as your boyfriend shakes his head, trying to clear it. You guys finish listing out everything until you come to the snacks, but you had taken the basket back and were heading up to the cash register.
He follows closely behind and whispers in your ear,
"Chips?"
You laugh, "check!"
"Dried squid?"
"Check!"
"Chocopies?"
"Check!
"Hugs and cuddles?"
"Check!....wait what?"
He just laughs and hugs you from the back, walking with you to check out.
"I want hugs and cuddles too." You can hear the pout in his voice.
"You can have them when we get home, with your Chocopies too, hm?"
He nods happily.

Back in the comfort of your apartment after the long day of shopping; you quickly put everything away while he helps you, then you flop onto the couch.
He comes into the living room carrying the box of Chocopies and the chips you got. He sits down next to you and offers you the snacks, you smile tiredly and grab a Chocopie and a handful of chips, putting them on your tummy so you didn't have to hold them while you ate.
He munches away happily and pulls you into his chest.
"Thank you baby."
You look over at him and wipe a crumb from the corner of his mouth.
"What for? You paid for the snacks, so thank you, love."
He shrugs and laughs, "thank you for going with me and for dealing with me at the store."
You laugh and cuddle into his side. Breathing deeply you start to relax; hearing the steady thumping of his heartbeat.
"I love you, H/n."
You feel him kiss your temple. Then start stroking your hair softly.
"I love you too, little cutie."
