When it comes to obkk I always see a lot of "Kakashi takes care of Obito after the war and teaches him that he deserves love", and honestly I think we need more of the other way around
Thoughts on it?
agreed agreed agreed agreed AGREED AGREED AGREED -
Look, everyone knows that I fucking love it when my sad middle-aged-at-30 meowmeow man gets taken care of. This will come as 0 surprise to anyone. I wanna put him in a cardboard box and push him down some stairs - obviously; I'm only human. But I also want him to be picked up and cuddled after.
So, I'd really love it if Obito was there for Kakashi's struggle with not feeling good enough to become Hokage. I want Kakashi to still genuinely believe that Obito would be far, far better in this role - he just can't take the hat, because of, y'know, that whole war criminal thing.
Kakashi continues to quietly blame himself for literally everything in the entire universe, in classic Kakashi fashion. Particularly, for Obito and Rin. Obito's right there, sleeping beside him, but he's been through so fucking much and it's all Kakashi's fault for not going back to retrieve his body. He could've averted literally everything, with that one simple change in history.
If Obito was there, he could've helped him save Rin and prevented her suicide. Obito would never have been brainwashed by Madara, or had the seal placed on his heart. He would never have threatened and eventually killed Minato and Kushina, and almost killed Naruto. He would never have tried to end the world.
Everything that went wrong can be traced back to Kakashi's failure as a team leader. He doesn't understand how Obito can forget that. How he can forgive him, for everything.
WARNING: mention of self-hate, depression and suicidal ideation under cut
Oddly, it's easier for Obito. After all, the whole world looks on him with suspicion nowadays, after the war. Of course they do! He killed a whole lot of people, and he's only still alive because Team Seven vouched for him and told everyone he was integral to taking Madara & Kaguya down. But he's not going to be trusted again quickly - perhaps not ever.
#
(Perhaps not even by Kakashi, who still sometimes wakes, sees him, and reaches instinctually for the not-so-secret knife he keeps under his pillow, before relaxing again.
Obito understands. On some level, he's made his peace with it.)
#
But Kakashi is looked up to. He’s revered. He’s one of the heroes of this world, though he feels like anything but.
All that positive attention, everyone telling him how great he is at every opportunity... It's a bit overwhelming. Obito is huffy for a while, painfully aware of how much his life has deviated from the course he laid out as a child. But he can't let that ugly thread of envy turn to hate. Not when he's watching Kakashi wither on the inside, day by day.
The thing is, it doesn't matter how many times people bow to him, or call him Lord. Kakashi doesn't believe he's worthy of it. A small, twisted part of him whispers that he's fooled everyone. Eventually, they'll see what a failure he really is. They'll realise that all the new names on the village memorial are there because of him - people who died because of his past failings. It's only a matter of time.
On the worst sleepless nights, gripping the hilt of that hidden kunai under the thin swell of his pillow, he can't wait.
I can just imagine everything coming to a horrible, bloody head when Kakashi accidentally cuts himself on that kunai. Just a silly little nick on his palm, the sort they all get occasionally. But Obito wakes up when Kakashi's sat there in the middle of the night, backlit by the moon, staring at the blood welling in the crease of his hand. Kunai in the other hand. Pointed casually at his own stomach, the precise way they're all taught not to hold it, from the moment they start at the Academy.
For a full five seconds, all Obito can hear is his own heartbeat. Then he's up, rolling forwards, smacking the kunai out of Kakashi's hands. Grabbing Kakashi's shoulders, shaking him back and forth, a terror ripping through him of a sort he hasn't known since a blade of lightning punched through a young girl's ribcage, so long ago. A terror he didn't even know he was capable of feeling anymore.
The words tear out of him, screamed directly into Kakashi's face (how blank it looks, even without the mask.)
"What the hell? You have everything! You have your happy ending! You have me, you have your kids, you're the fucking Hokage, we saved the world! How can you even consider - "
Worse yet, Kakashi doesn't reply. Doesn't even try to mumble a lie, fake a smile, try to convince Obito (like he has been doing for the past year, like he's been convincing everyone) that he's fine.
He just stares at him with those big, black eyes, and how did Obito ever think they were cold and unfeeling, when cold and unfeeling are emotions all of their own?
He cuts off the tirade. Draws Kakashi in, hugging him tight and fierce like he can press some of his own warmth into him by touch.
"Don't you fucking dare," he whispers, rubbing over that point on his back, where he ran Kakashi through. Feeling the dip in the skin, the strange, stretchy, cigarette-paper texture of the scar. "Please."
He's crying, because of course he fucking is. Crybaby Obito, even after all these years. He used to wish he could make Kakashi sob, just once - shatter that icy, inhuman shell and wring emotion from whatever soft thing is hidden beneath. But now, as Kakashi's breath rolls over his bare shoulder in a hot, damp judder, and he makes this awful little keening noise, high and strangled, like he's trying to trap it in his throat...
It's fucking heartbreaking.
Obito hates it, he hates it he hates it he hates it, with all that cursed Uchiha vehemence that drove him to try to remake the world.
He'd do that for Kakashi, if it would heal this empty void in Kakashi's chest, which seems to suck in all light in the vicinity. But he knows Kakashi wouldn't want that.
So instead, he pulls his shuddering body onto his lap, wrapping both arms around him, flesh and plant alike. He tucks Kakashi's scrunched-up face against his neck, and he kisses his stupid scarecrow-hair, and he lets him cry and cry and cry until he stops.

I have been thinking how Kakashi went from "These children are my soldiers now." in the beginning to "I want them to be dumb kids a little while longer." in one of the post-canon novels and I have alot of feelings about that.
Look, despite the fact that I believe that Team 7 kept worming their way into Kakashi's heart and he kept loving them more and more as the time goes by, I don't think that was the reason this happened.
We've seen Kakashi being fair to and caring and taking care of all of Konoha 12 kids in different occasions, @huskymaine already talked about it here so he cared about those kids and he wanted them to have as good of a life as possible probably before he even met him... We've seen kid Kakashi talking to Rin's grave after Minato became Hokage with so much hope telling her that now that Minato Sensei has become the Hokage, he's going to fix the Shinobi system so what happened to their team would never happen to any other kid/team and everyone would finally be at peace and no one would have to suffer like they did or sacrifice themselves like she did anymore. So he wanted all kids to have that kind of peaceful life since he was a kid.
What I think happened when he called Team 7 his soldiers tho was a reaction to Iruka questioning him as team 7's Sensei, I think he was offended by Iruka's accusations that he doesn't know his team's abilities enough and is making a bad decision nominating them to the chunin exams and he automatically has gotten defensive and this is why he said what he said to Iruka and what confirms this is that he ended it by saying that he was joking. Another thing that I think made him get defensive like this is that Iruka's doubts has struck a nerve because Kakashi himself despite believing in his team and their skills was worried about them and that worry was evident from the moment they applied for it
Tumblr media
not to mention that Kakashi has a tendency of blaming and doubting himself all the time so Iruka's words really hit the mark more than anyone would have thought and more than Kakashi let it show.

Maybe he could be gay or pan or, like you've said, asexual? The text doesn't confirm nor denied it. So fans can have all the headcanons they want from it. More importantly, while I agree with the fact he's repressed, I disagree with that statement: "He couldn't even emphathize or understand his own father's issues, until Obito put focus on it with great emphasis." Both with the fact he couldn't empathize with his father's issues, when it was more like a traumatized 4 or 5 years old that was, in effect, violently abandonnedby by his only family, would need some time (years) to process the trauma: anybody would (doesn't mean he didn't understand why Sakumo did it. Understanding and even empatizing, doesn't always mean accepting), as a proof of Kakashi's more than average tendency towards repression and with Obito focusing on it: he didn't. What he said was that, in his eyes, the White Fang was a hero, which is great and helped a lot for Kakashi who had to live among the people that lead his father to kill himself, with the shame of how they viewed his father (and, probably, up to a point, himself), but isn't Obito making Kakashi understand or empathize with his father's issues. The situation is a lot more complex (psychologically and emotionnally) than that, is what I'm getting at. You're talking about reading too much into the text, and I think you're doing it there.
Look you obviously really want him to be gay. Please go ahead and headcanon him gay if you want.
You wanted my opinion and reason and I gave it. If you are looking for my validation for him being gay, I can't give it. I gave my reasons.
But I am not bothered if you want to hc him gay and if you want to ship Kakashi and Guy. They are honestly a much better ship than many others in this fandom. And it doesn't matter if I don't think their relationship is romantic.
I don't wanna circumvent facts for anyone's mere convenience. Deduction doesn't work that way. I only look at what canon provides me and I base my theories on that. I don't work with what might or could have been or maybes, I work with what I have been given in canon. Kakashi comes off pretty straight, from what little information we get in the manga. And it's not really that difficult to see. For example, here.
Tumblr media
When Shikamaru, Kakashi, Shiho and Naruto are looking for clues in the Icha Icha novel to decode the lines on Fukasaku's back, both Shikamaru and Kakashi react in the same embarrassed and flustered way. Where on the one hand, Naruto is completely unperturbed by the novel's content, (because he is gay and so het porn/erotica doesn't make him react), but Shikamaru who is straight and Kakashi, both react the same way.
Tumblr media
Is it really that difficult to draw one's conclusions from this?
I mean go ahead and headcanon him gay if you want. Hardly matters to me.
As for his father committing suicide, no one is disagreeing that he would take time to process it. But that's how repression works. When you don't process it. And of course it takes time. My point is, since characters in this manga are so evidently shaped by familial bonds, their first priority is always family. Sasuke wanted revenge for how his family and clan were treated. Naruto was so motivated to protect Sasuke against everyone's advice because he considered him family as well. Tsunade is motivated to become hokage through her feelings for her fiancee and brother, whose reflection she sees in Naruto.
Kakashi on the other hand, is unable to empathize with his father's beliefs and blames him for the way the village and his own colleagues treated him. Sakumo wasn't in the wrong, others were. But I am not denying Kakashi would have taken time to process it. Kakashi is a stickler for rules and regulations because rules and regulations give structure and discipline to life when all the other things in one's life have too many variables that might upset it. It's safe and understandable. Structure and dissociation from emotions in a traumatic time gives the afflicted person support to carry on with life.
But Kakashi's personality is shaped around his father's unfortunate death. He believes that not adhering to rules and siding with feelings is what took his father down. And so he is motivated to avoid that situation himself. Obito later convinces him that it is not the case. And it does serve as an eye opener for Kakashi.
But that doesn't take away from the fact that Kakashi is stoic person, unable to understand Sasuke's justified feelings for justice, or to judge Sakura's actions accurately, her idiotic whims and fancies. Even Naruto tells Kakashi to back off when he tries to budge Naruto from protecting Sasuke or thinking of being strong enough to protect Sasuke. Twice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naruto doesn't take Kakashi's advice.
Which means Kakashi doesn't really understand the depth of feelings Naruto has for Sasuke.
This doesn't mean Kakashi is a bad person or anything. Just that he isn't as perceptive given his motto of always looking out for comrades first. And even though he spends a considerable amount of time with both Sasuke and Naruto. When one isn't able to properly process their own emotions and trauma, it's difficult to process or properly understand someone else's. I am not taking anything away from the validity of his trauma. Different people process grief and trauma differently. This is how Kakashi chose to do it. By repressing it so much that it became his pathology. It's quite believable.
Rest, you can choose to believe whatever you want. This is my take. Take it or leave it.

I think what that quote meant is that Kakashi has no one to blame in a direct way, the way sasuke can. Sauske can identify and blame people who actively caused his suffering and the death of his clan. Kakashi doesn't have an active vendetta or a direct person, all he can lash out at institutions, or groups as a whole which is very different, like hating your government vs hating the guy that killed your sister. He doesn't really have any one person to directly take out his vengeance on not even enemy shinobi technically, since they, the same as him, are simply doing their jobs. Kakshi himself has most likely killed dozens of enemy shinobi himself. He himself would be the cause of other peoples suffering because of his actions.
That comment doesn't undermine his pain, it just points out quite logically that their situations are very different. I also think that's one of the reasons Kakashi fails to connect with Sasuke on a deeper level, and why sasuke couldn't understand kakashis standpoint.
About this post
You know, if the comment said that "Kakashi's pain and Sasuke's pain is different" and stop at that, I'll fully agree with it.
But, they went with "Kakashi has no one to blame because the majority of people that Kakashi lost died in the line of duty and when shinobi (equals with soldier/police in our world) went to mission the first things on their mind should be that they might not return" I was like whoa dude you are going overboard there and downright demeaning people in real life who has soldier loved one. Who are you to dictate what soldier must think when they go to mission? Who are you to dictate that soldier/police loved ones should accept that their loved ones go on a duty ready to die anyway?
I had a chat with the creator of that video and they said they made the video because “rewatching the video after knowing Kakashi’s past hits different so I want to have an edit including Kakashi’s past since for me it was the sad truth we didn’t get to see that when we first watch the scene”. In canon that scene is wholly on Sasuke’s P.O.V, all Sasuke’s shift of emotions are shown there and even we have a glimpse of Sasuke’s mind, whereas for Kakashi the only thing we have is his smile when he said that all important people in his life have already been killed.
They don’t expect that the video triggered such a pain war and I highlighted that comment because it’s at the top comment, meaning that many people upvoted it although it’s so insensitive.
I also don't like the prospect of "Kakashi has no one to blame where the likes of Obito and Nagato have". I’ve seen my fair share of people saying that “Kakashi’s pain is normal in ninja world”, and I want to put it to an end.
What if I said :
Nagato's parents lived in a battlefield area, the family should be ready for attack and be mistaken as enemy, because shinobi is naturally high alerted and civilian casualty are normal in ninja world.
Obito loves a shinobi girl, so no matter what promise he get from Kakashi, he should know that Rin still can die anytime in the battlefield so he shouldn't be shocked.
When we look at Kirigakure and perhaps bigger picture of feudal era, massacre is a normal thing that happen in ninja world toward those who attempt to harm government.
You see how insensitive those statements are? Make no mistake, I am in no way agree with them, my fingers are downright curling when I type that. It's demeaning. They had a right to get angry. They are wronged by other people. Their loved ones were ripped apart from them in a tragic way and their grief is valid. My point is why only Kakashi’s pain that are treated as normal thing to happen?
Because he doesn’t scream? Because he doesn’t cry? Because he never blamed anyone so that means people whom he can blame magically don’t exist?
Is it so normal to find your admired father killed himself because of vilification of his own kindness?
Is it so normal to lose your teammate under your responsibility just after become friend and the said friend gave you bloody present?
Is it so normal to find your teammate whom you swore to protect with your own life died in your hand outside your control?
Is it so normal to lose your admired teacher in a day that was supposed to be the best day of the said teacher’s life?
Kakashi has no one to blame for those? To feel bitter? No one at all?????
Kakashi has no one to blame in a direct way, the way sasuke can.  Kakashi doesn't have an active vendetta or a direct person, all he can lash out at institutions, or groups as a whole which is very different, like hating your government vs hating the guy that killed your sister.
Those who condemned his father toward suicide. Higher ups of Iwagakure and Kirigakure. Kurama, and by some extension Jinchuriki, exactly like majority of ninja society treatment toward Jinchuriki.
What conditionally prevent Kakashi to blame them except that it’s his own choice?
People in Naruto always have someone to blame. Especially shinobis always can have active vendetta and pursue it. Obito, Chiyo, Motoi, others have grief directly parallels with Kakashi’s and we’ve shown what is their choice to handle it. If they blame others then Kakashi can too. He just chose not to.
Also Sasuke then lash out at Konoha, an institution, a government as a whole you know... It’s declared as understandable by the MC of the show and Kakashi even noted that Sasuke is the victim of society.
Kakshi himself has most likely killed dozens of enemy shinobi himself. He himself would be the cause of other peoples suffering because of his actions.
And I already point out that Kakashi is not immune to hatred. He has his fair share of murderous days, and it’s not far-fetched to imagine that he received “obsessed with revenge made you feel empty” lesson from that.
Pretty sure that Kakashi will accept anytime someone seek him for revenge. In Kakashi Retsuden an old woman spits at him because of his son’s death by Konoha shinobi and Kakashi accepted it. When Chiyo barged him he made no action to defend himself, just saying that well, he’s not Sakumo. At no point Kakashi said that Chiyo shouldn’t blame Sakumo or logically has no one to blame because Sasori’s parents died on the mission, something that the comment insensitively said.
That comment doesn't undermine his pain, it just points out quite logically that their situations are very different.
The comment basically said that Kakashi’s loved ones are ready to die anyway, how is that not undermining? Somehow that means conditionally Kakashi shouldn’t blame anyone? And something like grief and blame can be illogical. The statement of “logically you shouldn’t hate him, logically you shouldn’t blame him” is offensive itself, because we are here talking about heart and feeling. And that’s why Kakashi also never said that Sasuke shouldn’t hate Itachi or Konoha, but he said that Sasuke should not be obsessed with revenge, because it’s harmful for Sasuke’s well-being.
Sasuke and Kakashi’s situation are very different, I agree with it so much. And that’s why people should stop comparing them and undermining one party’s pain in the process. I had no desire to participate in Trauma Olympic, just as Kakashi fan I can’t stand still when Kakashi’s pain is being undermined as “something normal that should have happened”.
I also think that's one of the reasons Kakashi fails to connect with Sasuke on a deeper level, and why sasuke couldn't understand kakashis standpoint.
There’s so many reasons why the talk on that scene is failed, but it’s worth to note that Sasuke was contemplating Kakashi’s words from noon till night, before Sound 4 came and practically flaunt their power. I admit that Kakashi’s attempt is clumsy, Kakashi and Sasuke need more time and conversations. Sasuke’s condition and mental state is fragile that needs careful treatment and long-term motivation. Sadly Kakashi was already assigned to an S class mission that takes days before it happened (and Kishimoto once said that Sasuke was destined to leave the village for the plot).

Sasusaku: Selfish
Note: I have a soft spot for Sasusaku blank period, and last night my brain decided to award me with an angsty Sasusaku dream at 4pm. I ain't good at writing but I just can't let that dream go, it was beautiful 😭 hope you will enjoy, excuse my grammar please don't sue
Sasuke stands still, eyes staring at the pink-haired girl, lying weak on the bed. Her face is filled with bruises and bandages wrapped around her arms. His loose hands becomes a tight grip as he recall yesterday's incident. Seeing Sakura unconcious, in her most awful state on the ground destroyed him. It was because of him, and he was too late to save her.
"I'm sorry, Sakura" his words come out as a soft whisper, even he could hardly hear them. Sasuke turns around after hearing a click at the door.
"You're leaving already?" Naruto lifts his eyebrows, scaning his bestfriend from head to toe. He's wearing his usual black cloak, ninja equipments are safe inside the small bag tied around his thigh and a black bag he carries behind him. Seeing Sasuke turns around to look at Sakura one last time before walking towards the ward room door, Naruto knows he doesn't need an answer.
"Hey, look. Sakura-chan isn't awake yet. Maybe you should wait until-"
"I have to go, Naruto" he says before feeling a hand on his shoulder stopping him from behind.
"Sasuke, its not your fault."
Silence.
Naruto doesn't need to hear anything from Sasuke, he knows him well enough, a guy who talks as less as he can, hiding all of his pain alone behind those lonely eyes.
"Naruto" Sasuke says while turning his head to look at his childhood rival.
"Convince her to accept the proposal. Tell her to stop waiting for me. I don't know when I'll be back"
"Wha- the hell, Sasuke? You know she loves you too much she would wait forever for you!"
"She can't possibly wait forever, can she?" He says with a smirk before feeling a dull pain on his left cheek. Eyes wide, Sasuke stares at the guy infront of him.
"Snap out of it, will ya?! No one loves you more than her and you know that. You just don't want to admit it. You think I didn't notice how you look at her everytime we hang out when you get back?" Sasuke just replied with a short "Tch"
"Now I dare you stare at me in the eyes and tell me you don't feel the same way. I dare you watch her accept that proposal and marry another guy. I dare you, Sasuke!" Naruto's eyes reflect his feelings perfectly, anger. Sasuke sighs, trying to get all of his strength to stand back up and replies very calmly.
"Enough is enough, Naruto. Don't you think Sakura already suffered too much?"
"She won't be happy with me. She deserves someone so much better than me. Someone who will love her" he pauses
"More than I ever will" its a soft mumble but Naruto can still hear every word.
"She was kidnapped because of me, Naruto. Tortured because of me. This isn't even the first time. People put her through these because of me. Now don't tell me she hadn't had enough"
This time it is Naruto who keeps his mouth shut.
"I have many enemies. I just- don't want her to suffer because my past"
-----
Sakura is panting. She can hardly feel her legs. But there is something more important to settle right here, right now. And there he is, the love of her life standing still infront of her. She sees his eyes widened, and stays like that for a brief second, before turning into his usual cold eyes, staring at her.
"Sasuke-kun.." she walks slowly towards him. Her injury from the incident two days ago doesn't make it any better, but she doesn't care. All she wants to do right now is to hold the man she loves most, and settle this once and for all.
She knows what she had was mutual, she can feel the bond between Sasuke and her closer than ever now. The way he talks changes after his journey of redemption. The soft touch on her forehead he gives everytime before starting his trip. His small gestures of walking her home everytime the team hangs out, the subtle moments of him trying to brush away her patients when they started asking her personal questions. Sasuke was never the type to convey his feelings through words, she knows this much by now.
"I love you" she whispers briefly, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. She stays for a while and continues.
"No matter how long it takes.. I will wait for you" Sasuke is still in shock, the familiar smell Sakura had since they were genin wrapped around him as tight as those small but strong arms. He takes a moment to close his eyes, feeling his fast beating heart. Slowly, he took his hand moving it to her shoulder.
"Sakura"
"Go home" he says breaking the warm hug before staring at the girl infront of him, inches apart.
"Sasuke-kun.. I really want you to know that I-"
"Go home, Sakura" as cold as ice, Sasuke stares deep into her green eyes, he can see tears falling down her cheeks. She slowly pushes herself away, looking down, trying hard to distance herself from him before turning away. She gives him one last look, hoping he would say one word, just one word, 'Stay'. Sakura starts to run as fast as she could when that man doesn't respond as she hoped.
Sasuke stares at her shadow, gritting his teeth to ease a pain he is so used to by now, a sharp prick in his chest. The pain is proof and he knows what it meant. He knows.. he cares.
A lot.
---
A year passes by and Sasuke is now in Konoha after being summoned by the Hokage, Kakashi because of some trouble in the village. He has been staying for a week, and everything is the same as it always has except..
He hasn't seen Sakura. He isn't sure if she's just busy at the hospital performing some surgery he can't even pronounce or she is successfully trying hard to avoid him.
Thanks to Naruto, he got news less than a year ago that Sakura declined the marriage proposal, and is currently working hard to open her own Children Clinic.
He can still remember seeing her running around the hospital hallway in emergencies, wearing her white coat, watching her hands glowing with chakra. Her forehead would be filled with beads of sweat, worried expression never leave her face, not until she can save a patient. That face would immediately change bright and cheerful once that small machine beside her patient starts to beep again.
Sakura loves what she does so much, he thinks to himself with a smile. As much as he tries to deny it, Sasuke knows how much that woman changed ever since he left for his revenge. She became so strong, so matured and very determined especially when it comes to things she loves. Anyone who is sane enough would want to make her a life partner, he smirks as he remembers Sakura's marriage proposal the villagers were so hyped up about a year ago.
'Ring' his thought is distracted by the doorbell sound. It takes Sasuke seconds to open his door and the figure infront of him brings some weird feeling in his stomach.
"Sakura"
"I.. um.." he watches her stutter before she looks at him in the eyes, and Sasuke swears he can see flame in them.
"I was passing by his office and Kakashi-sensei asked me to give these to you" Sasuke takes the scrolls from her hands and replies with a short "Aaa"
"Then. I'm going. Good day" she says with a formal bow and turns around
"Sakura" he sees her jolt at her name being called. Sasuke pauses and thinks of the things he always wanted to say to her, ever since that day when he sees her tears for the first fime after years. He opens his mouth slightly but changes his mind.
"Thank you" he says.
Sakura replies with a simple nod and walks away. Sasuke can't help but stare at her figure from behind until she can no longer reach his sight. He looks at the scrolls in his hand and sigh.
"I'm sorry, Sakura. Its better this way" he whispers to himself.
---
"Take care, idiot. Sorry I can't see you off tomorrow" Naruto says with a soft punch on his shoulder.
"Nah, its fine. Thanks" he replies short. Naruto is about to walk home when Sasuke calls him again before saying.
"Take care of Sakura"
He sees Naruto pause and scoff before turning away and wave his hand. Sasuke stares at the sky, wondering if she will come to see him off like she always do tomorrow. Thinking whether she will ask him if she can come along, as she does everytime he wants to start his journey again.
Probably not, he thinks. It is never the same anymore now. Whenever Team 7 hangs out, Sakura will either be joining them late, or excuse herself very early giving ward rounds in the morning as an excuse. It is never her fault though. It is his. It has always been his.
Sasuke is about to close the door to his apartment when he sees a familiar girl walking silently towards his direction. There's that weird feeling in his abdomen again, he isn't comfortable but he doesn't hate it.
"Sasuke-kun" she says upon reaching infront of him.
A long pause.
"I- I just want to say goodbye. And goodluck on your travel tomorrow" she smiles to him brightly, but he can see pain in her eyes. He replies with a short thank you and expects to see her turning away to walk home. But she just stays there silently, its as if she is trying to battle her own thoughts. Sasuke is about to ask when he feels a pair of warm lips on his. His eyes widen as he feel her hands gripping his shirt, and later after a short second, she lets go.
"What happened a year ago.. I-it was never your fault, Sasuke-kun. I know you have been blaming yourself this whole time. So please, just stop it.."
"Enough is enough.." she said slow. He can't stop wondering if she heard him talk with Naruto that day.
"I can't keep doing this, Sasuke-kun. I love you so much. Please, just.. if there's a little space for me in your heart.. even if its just a little.. I beg you, stop blaming yourself" Sakura starts to cry, softly. Those tears had always been his weakness. No matter how much he tries to ignore that one fact, he knows he can't anymore. And right now, he knows more than anyone, that he can't deny this, whatever it is that he has towards her, that has been haunting him for as long as he can remember.
"Damn it, Sakura.. you annoy me to this point" he says facing down. After a brief second, he pulls her into his arm, and presses his lips against hers. Sakura is shocked but it doesn't take long for her to lean in and dippen the kiss. Before she can put her arms around his neck, Sasuke pulled away.
His dark orbs stares at her, his eyes full of longing. There is confusion in hers though, but another thing they both have in common, is wanting more. He gently grabs her hand as a sign to invite her into his apartment and she replies with a warm smile and a pink flush on her cheek.
---
Sasuke stares at her back while she puts her headband on her pink locks. The silence is for a while now but it is not uncomfortable. He sees her looking at the floor for a long while before starting to talk.
"I- I'm sorry.. if I suddenly came over last night" he is about to reply but she continues while turning around to face him.
"I know you.. said no to me so many times.. and.."
"A girl shouldn't be like this, right..?" She chuckles softly but tears starting to form in her green eyes. It takes her only a few seconds to sob and cry like a baby.
"Why can't I just forget you and move on?" Her cries starting to sound like a whisper. Sasuke looks at her wiping her tears off her face but later forming more tears. He was never a sweet-gestured guy, romance is one of the many things he didn't want to get involved with. He never knows how to calm a crying woman, so he just look and starts to reply.
"I wanted you to be happy, Sakura"
"I wasnt sure you'd be happy with me"
"You deserve someone better than me, I hurt you too many times"
"I was ready to let you go"
He says softly while looking at her starting to calm down.
"But a part of me.. wanted to be selfish. And make you mine"
He continues, their eyes still staring at each other. Sakura sees it in his eyes, his eyes speak better than his words. But now that he made it clear, she is more sure. Her orbs become more gentle and she smiles to him ever so brightly.
"Be selfish, Sasuke-kun" She says stroking his cheek softly. Resting her forehead on his, Sakura softly carress his lips with her thumb.
"That way I can be selfish too"

Alright, so, I was thinking about this: Phoenix!Gai once had a lover, a long time ago when humans still respected Phoenixes and Gai used to trust people and there were many like him (I'm imagining it a bit like the whole Maito clan used to be Phoenixes) and no one, outside the Phoenixes themselves, know the extent of their powers.
One day, Gai's lover gets injured badly and Gai knows that, if he doesn't do something, they will die in his arms, so he uses his powers to heal them and save them from Death. The problem is, someone finds out.
The Phoenixes have rules, and one of them is to not save humans from Death, because if Death wants those people, if Death says that the time has come for someone, then who are the Phoenixes to get between Death and his job? They are powerful, but they have limits and they need rules to live peacefully.
So, Gai breaks the rule to save his lover and someone finds out. Doubt starts to travel across the humans, because if Phoenixes can save people from Death then why they never did before? That's when some people start hunting down the Phoenixes for their powers, hoping to reach the secret for the Eternal Life.
Gai's lover helps him and hides him from people, but they're only a human and they eventually die. Gai wants to save them, but his father-like figure (I imagine it like the Phoenixes are all connected like a big family but they're not really family by blood, and maybe Gai sees Dai as a father because Dai taught him about being a Phoenix when Gai was still new) stops him and takes him away.
Gai doesn't know if, during Kakashi's time, there are other Phoenixes who survived, he only knows that he was able to learn to protect himself thanks to his father, who eventually got captured to let him escape to safety, and Gai knows that his father is likely dead because yes, a Phoenix can rise from his ashes but only if it has the power to do so. If the Phoenix doesn't have enough power, it just dies. Since the people use Phoenixes for their power they would take all the power they can, leaving the Phoenix without enough power to rise from it's ashes after it dies.
So when Gai finally tells Kakashi about who and what he is, and when Kakashi accepts him, he starts to think. Phoenixes have a good memory, and Gai keeps near his heart the memory of his single, past lover, and he starts seeing little similarities and that makes him love Kakashi even more.
What I'm saying is, Gai had only one (1) human lover, outside Kakashi, in all his life and Kakashi is their reincarnation.
OMG THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL.
Imagine Gai realizing those similarities slowly. The way Kakashi smiles reminds him of his lovers smile. Those soft, kind eyes look so much like his old lovers. The placement of that mole that looks so much like his lovers. Gai had forgotten what his lover used to look like. It was a long time before camera’s were available, but now looking at Kakashi he can’t help but think of his lover.
The one he risked everything for, and still lost in the end. The only human he dared to trust, because when he found out what happened he begged Gai never to do that again. Never to risk himself and his people, for him again.
For years his lover held so much guilt inside of him, seeing what was happening to the pheonix’s because Gai chose to save him. He never blamed Gai. He loved Gai too much and he understood the drive to keep someone you love with you longer.
he blamed himself for not being able to protect Gai better. For being the reason Gai and the other pheonixes were hunted. So to make up for that he fought with all of his power and life to protect Gai.
his preciouse love.
For years Gai never had anyone else. He was too afraid of opening up his heart again and losing someone he loved so deeply. So he hid and survived, like his father wanted him to. He never dared to love again, and he never trusted humans again, until he met Kakashi.
He wonders if this is Deaths doing. After all, death has control over these things. Most humans move on from the mortal plain after their death. Though, a few can be reborn by deaths choosing, but she has always been so picky with who is and is not reborn. Gai has to wonder why she choice Kakashi.

The prologue for Home is finally out! So for those of you interested in a wholesome fic about a charming, single father falling in love with his daughter's teacher, this fic is for you!
Title: Home
Characters/Pairing: Genma/Sakura
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Strong language and mature sexual content
Summary: Genma always knew that being a single father meant doing what was best for his daughter, whether it be tea parties in the yard or wiping her tears away. And with his parents and his friends there to help him out every step of the way, he likes to think he's done a good job so far. But in the back of his mind, Genma also knew there was something—or rather, someone—missing. And it makes him realize that maybe, he doesn't have to do it all alone.
In which Genma falls into an unexpected romance with his daughter's teacher, Sakura. He wants a home. Sakura wants a family. And as for his daughter?
"Daddy, I want a mom."
Prologue:
A fire crackles in the center of the yard, projecting elongated shadows along the grass. Sparks pop and float into the air while the flames dance on, fervent with the easy mood.
Its warm tonight, the sweltering heat of summer just beginning to surrender into a colder, more comforting breath, and the skies are alight with all the constellations on bold display. The grass sways despite the lack of wind, whispering their soft goodbyes against Genma's legs as he listens to the cicadas and crickets sing one last song. He looks up at the sky with a relaxed sigh, leans back onto his palms and stretches out his legs, takes in the dazzling eclipse of stars that paint the charcoal night.
He loves nights like this—nights where the many shades of the sky aren't masked by artificial streetlamps and where the crickets' symphony isn't disrupted by the hum of overhead planes. He likes being able to lay back and trace the crystalline embroidery overhead while his friends laugh and joke around him, because it reminds him of summers from decades past and adventures in the woods, bike rides along the train tracks.
Absently, Genma shifts again, closes his eyes as he feels the breath of fatigue graze against his chest. He's exhausted, bleary eyed and a day unshaven; his shoulders ache and all he wants to do is go home and sleep, but part of him isn't quite ready to leave—not when everyone is out tonight.
Iwashi sits to his right, idly plucking chords out of his guitar but not really paying attention, more invested in the stories they all trade over the fire. Kakashi's passed out in the hammock further down, lost to the world while Yamato and Kotetsu listen to every conversation with shaking heads and wholehearted chuckles; Aoba stands watch over the grill and Ebisu cracks open a fresh beer, while Izumo and Asuma argue over whose rendition is closer to the truth.
"Then he tripped, smacked right into Arashi's car!"
"Hold on now," Asuma interrupts with a hint of a laugh, leaning forward so his elbow rests upon his knee. He flashes his palm as he speaks, waving his hand in a way that demands pause, but smiling nonetheless. "That is not how that happened."
izumo mimics his pose. "That's exactly how that happened!"
"No," Asuma insists with the shaking of his head. "You were running your mouth and Zabuza kicked your ass. He straight up threw you into the side of the car." Then, the bearded man huffs and leans back into his chair. "Arashi and my dad beat my ass all up and down Old Road for that dent, by the way."
As Iwashi and Kotetsu snicker, Izumo shoots back, one hand gesturing to himself as he sputters incredulously, "I didn't say anything! It all started because Obito said something about Mangetsu's brother. And I wasn't the one who put the dent in the door."
"Zabuza threw you into the side of the car," Asuma reiterates, sharing an exasperated but amused look with Yamato and Kotetsu. "How is that not your fault?"
"Zabuza just doesn't like me because Mei was into me."
This time, Kotetsu scoffs. "She was not!"
Aloud, Genma snorts and shakes his head, slowly drowning out their bickering with his own thoughts. He remembers that day completely differently than both of them. It was senior year, a surprisingly warm Friday night at the end of September. Homecoming was on the horizon so the excitement of glittery dresses and football, of parades and late night bonfires had the whole town in a tizzy. The first game of the season had been a tense one against their school's most bitter rivals, the Kirigakure Sharks—a game that their school won.
Closing his eyes, Genma can picture it all—the thrum of the marching band, the taste of the cheap beers they coined off the guy at the gas station, the salt on the fries they bought. They had gone to the drive-in diner across the street to celebrate, laughing about something that the beer had wiped away, bodies warm with the haze of mild intoxication. Asuma had begged his older brother, Arashi, for the keys to his Impala for almost a week just so he could impress Kurenai, so he had been overly cautious about anyone so much as breathing on the thing, automatically putting him in a mood. And as his friends, it was his and Kakashi's job to tease the couple into exasperation, which was when Zabuza and his gam had appeared.
They were spouting out insults before they even pulled into the spot beside them, Genma recalls, remembering how they were piled in the bed of Zabuza's honey-striped Chevy. They were grumbling about their loss, throwing dirty looks and bucking their chins in challenge at anyone who bothered to spare them a glance; and while Obito and Izumo and Kotetsu talked their shit, blowing off Kisame and Mangetsu's comments, and Asuma brushed past Raiga, it was Kakashi who had really threw the oil into the fire.
He had moved to throw his trash away, but when Zabuza wouldn't let him by, calling him out with something Genma hadn't been able to catch, Kakashi shrugged and tossed the rest of his plate through the window of Zabuza's truck. Next thing Genma knew, he and Kotetsu were stopping Kisame from climbing over a bench and Asuma had an arm around Raiga's neck while Mangetsu all but tackled Obito. It was three and a half minutes of pure chaos, ending with a winded Izumo, a dent in Arashi's car and a lot of running.
They went all the way up to the park on Old Road after that, trying to hide from their parents for just over a day before Asuma and Kakashi's Pops sniffed them all out and drove them home. His Ma was furious, twisted his ear real good, so he could remember its burn every time he even thought about getting into another fight while his Pop smacked the back of his head with a grumbled, "Idiot."
Man, Genma thought with a quirk to his lips, those were the days.
To this day, no one really knows who put that nasty dent in Arashi's car. They just all assumed and accepted the idea that Izumo had caused it, whether it be because he was caught in the tackle that took Obito down, or because he was thrown into it. And even if they ever did find out, they'd probably stick to blaming Izumo.
Sighing, Genma straightens up from his spot on the ground, his hands working to brush the dirt from the back of his wranglers, bringing all the attention on to him. "You're leaving?" Kotetsu asks, his tone a lot more sober than his posture. "Already?"
Genma readjusts his ball cap with a shrug, tugs on the ends of his jacket, then on the sleeves. "Yeah," He yawns, tilting his head until his spine pops. "Its getting late. I gotta get home to my girl."
They accept that without pause or complaint, patting shoulders and tapping knuckles as they say their goodbyes, and it isn't until he's pulled into his driveway and undid his belt, that Genma really feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. So he sits in the solitude of his truck for a little bit longer, absently listening to the guitar strumming from the radio with his head dropped back against the headrest and his eyes closed. And he waits.
Because even he needs a break sometimes.
Once the song ends, Genma slips out of his seatbelt and steps out of his pickup, then trudges his way up the front steps as quickly but as quietly as possible. The lights are off but he can see the dull indigo light from the television from the window, which make his brows furrow in contemplation. But as he steps inside and sees the little lump on the couch stir, revealing a head of messy braids, he can't help but smile.
"Welcome back," He barely hears from behind the loveseat.
"Hey," Genma murmurs, rounding the coffee table to kneel beside the couch. "What are you doing up so late?"
Hayate doesn't move from his position sprawled across the smaller couch, nor does he move his arm away from its place draped over his eyes. "She wanted to wait up for you," He replies, tiredly, and with a long, drawn out yawn. "Passed out about fifteen minutes ago."
Genma's fingers gently brush the baby hairs away from the young girl's face, then he carefully scoops her into his arms, blankets and all. Glancing back at his cousin, Genma's expression softens. "Thanks for watching her. I appreciate it."
Hayate waves a hand dismissively. "Yeah, any time."

Imagine if... Tenzou doesn't initially knows about Iwa!Gai's talent, and one day he's on a mission with Kakashi and this pretty boy shows up (obv Gai undercover) and fucking pick up on him, maybe not even for a mission, just to piss Tenzou's off after, and Tenzou's like... Really awkwardly trying to understand what's happening until Kakashi comes to rescue and Gai's like "Why do you ruin my fun!"
Tenzou has never actually had someone flirt with him, ever. People have complimented him, but flirting? He's pretty sure Kakashi Senpai always scares them away before they can get to that point
Today, unfortunatly, kakashi senpai left him in the bar for a little while to explore the town. Something about needing to find something
He's pretty sure that means that stupid Iwa Shinobi is here somewhere and his senpai just ditched him to get some dick. He'd be mad if he wasn't busy being very confussed by his current situation.
The guy is beautiful of course. Short styled black hair, a gorgouse blue hanfu, and bicepts that could make anyone melt. Yamato actually had to force himself not to reach out and touch them.
But he's waiting for his Senpai, and Kakashi would be pissed if he let himself get dragged into something by some stranger. Not that he had much right to speak on the matter.
He shivered when a hand brushed up against his arm. God this person was good at whatever they were doing.
"Quit it," a book came down on his new companions head. Icha Icha paradice, of course. Kakashi Senpai always had that book on him "you're not doing that with Tenzou"
"S...senpai?" Yamato looked at his teammate with wide eyes. How did he know this stranger.
"You need to work on keeping your guard up," Kakashi sighed "he should not have gotten you that easily."
"I told you, i'm the best at these jobs," Yamato's skin crawled when he heard a new voice. A vastly diffrent voice than the one that had been whispering sweet compliments to him a moment ago.
A familiar voice
"You!" He shoved the other man away angrily "what the hell is wrong with you!?"
Gai chuckled at the sudden shift in response "you're always ruining my fun Kakashi" he accused Yamato's senpai with a playful look in his eyes
"Saducing a target is one thing," Kakashi huffed "i'm certainly not sharing you with tenzou"
Yamato gagged at the idea "i would never!"
"You were about to," Kakashi leveled a glare on him, and he knew it was true. His knees had been weak, his heart was racing, and his mind had definitly been wondering about what was hiding under that beautiful hanfu. "Not that i blame you. It's a pretty present to unwrap..."
Yamato shook his head angrily "no! No i do not..." he screwed his eyes shut as the mental image hit him anyways "damn it..."
